00:06 Sermon #S032 - "What To Do, When Your On The Verge" - (Part 2)
00:20 Welcome to the Breath of Life Television Ministries broadcast with Pastor Debleaire Snell!
00:25 In today's episode, Pastor Snell will continue part two of the powerful Message entitled:
00:31 “What To Do When You're On the Verge.” Now, let's go deeper into the Word of God.
00:40 The reason we get stuck on the verge is because we don't carry no bitterness with us.
00:45 Every now and then. You need some bitterness from yesterday so you can celebrate your today.
00:51 You know, one of the things that annoys me in the church of God is when I hear folk that have come into the truth,
01:00 and we've been in the way a little while, and maybe some of us have not had this experience,
01:04 but you ever been around folk who brag more about their former life than they boast about their current life as if
01:13 somehow Christ was a demotion and you was having more fun when you was in the world.
01:19 See, all that is is somebody that's lost touch with their bitterness.
01:24 In other words, they've been in the way so long that they forget how bad it was
01:29 before they came into the truth of the living God. Are y'all hearing what I'm saying today, friends?
01:34 It's crazy because there are some of us men that love to romanticize about how we used to get down
01:39 and how we used to turn up and all the fun that we used to have.
01:44 We got too many brothers that celebrating their player days more than they celebrate their present day.
01:50 We got some that are celebrating their athletic past more than they celebrate their anointed present.
01:57 And what I'm saying to somebody today, remember that the only way you came into the way is
02:03 because the bitterness of life chased you that way. Okay, I'm going insult you now.
02:08 Don't act like you came to Jesus. You were chased to Jesus.
02:14 [Congregation: Clapping]
02:16 The bitterness chased you there, the hardship chased, you there, and the heartbreak chased you there.
02:22 It was the hurt that brought you there. I know you thought, oh, I just came to Jesus on my own. The devil is a lie.
02:30 It was life kicking your butt all up and down the street.
02:35 [Congregation: Clapping]
02:39 Pastor Snell: That drove you into the house of the Lord. See, every now and then, I know,
02:50 and we are in the age of therapy and wholeness and wellness. But every now and then, you need a little PST in your life.
02:58 You need to keep a little post-sin trauma. You got to have a little post-sin,
03:05 trauma to let you know not to go down that way no more am I telling the truth. Miss Kay.
03:11 I remember growing up in Florida, like, so we lived on the street called Jackson Bluff.
03:15 And it was like a hill, an incline that went down to our house. And whenever it would rain hard,
03:20 principle dent, or we would have hurricanes that would dump a bunch of rain, the street would fill up with water
03:26 and it would come like all the way up to our knees. And so my mom and my aunts would always tell us like, listen,
03:33 don't go down because you can't see what's underneath the water. And it's crazy because I see my friends,
03:39 they out there in the street, they dog-paddling, they swimming. I ain't going to be the only one listening to my mama.
03:44 And so I'd go out there with my bad self and the water comes all the way up, Bobby to my thighs.
03:51 But what would happen sometimes under the street flood is it would wash away ant hills.
03:57 And it's crazy because what happens is I ran across a space where a whole bunch of ants washed upon my legs
04:05 and I got bit from my thighs all the way down to my feet.
04:09 And it's crazy because that thing was my disobedience left such trauma that whenever I see a flooded street, man,
04:19 I have a little clitch so that whenever it starts raining, I'm tripping, I'm twitching
04:26 because I got some trauma to let me know.
04:30 And matter of fact, even when I go to a beach or a lake,
04:32 I ain't getting in no water where I can't see beneath the surface. If it ain't clear and chlorine,
04:38 the pastor ain't getting in it unless I'm at Bermuda or the Bahamas. I got to see what's beneath the surface
04:45 because I got some trauma that says, don't go back in that no more.
04:50 And what I'm saying is that you got to have some post-sin trauma so that every time their number comes up,
04:57 you start twitching to let you know. Don't even go that way no more. Whenever you smell cigarettes smoke,
05:06 you ought twitch to let you know. Don't go that way no more.
05:10 Whenever they show up, get your job, you on a twitch to let you know. Don't go down that path no more.
05:16 You got to maintain some bitterness that keeps pushing you to betterness. So the word says here in verse nine,
05:31 can we stay in the word. So God says this, he says, do not eat it raw nor boiled with all the water,
05:38 but roasted with fire, its head with its legs. And its what? In trails
05:46 and you shall not let any of it remain until morning. Did y'all catch this, friends?
05:52 See, the third thing you got to do when you're on the verge is I need you to know you can't pick
05:56 and choose which parts of the lamb you want. When you're on the verge of something saint.
06:08 Oh y'all looking at your phones now you're at your bibles. Oh, y'all tired looking at your watch now?
06:13 No, no. Stay with the pastor today, You can't pick and choose which parts of the lamb you're going to receive.
06:23 Now, this is an interesting instruction that is given by God. So God says, listen, man, got to eat this not boiled,
06:30 but you got to eat it roasted with fire. Then he says, you got to eat it nasty with bitter herbs.
06:35 Then he says, watch this. He says, don't let any of the lamb remain. He says I want you to eat all of it,
06:44 including the legs, the entrails and the head. Are y'all with me today, friends?
06:53 So, now again, there is a purpose to this instruction because yeah, I mean, you know how it is.
06:59 I mean, some of y'all done been to KFC before.
07:05 Oh really? I mean, you don't be wanting the wings. You be wanting some other parts. Okay, all right.
07:17 All right. All right. And in the same way, there are certain choice pieces of the lamb that are preferred.
07:26 But God is saying, you can't just pick which parts of the lamb you want. You got to have the whole lamb.
07:34 So I, you know, you may want the thigh of the lamb, but you don't want the little bony leg of the lamb.
07:40 You don't want the insides of the lamb. But God says, I want what's on the inside of the lamb to get inside of you.
07:51 Some of y'all just got that. He is saying, I want what's on the inside of the lamb to get on the inside of you.
08:01 Listen, I mean, you didn't want to eat the head of the Lamb. Real talk. I mean, you want to cut the head off,
08:09 but he says you going to eat the head with the eyes looking at you. And he says, I want you to eat the head.
08:16 Because see, when you cut off the head, you are not even sure what type of meat it is.
08:22 But when you see the head and the eyes, you don't just see it as a meal.
08:25 You see it as a being that had to die for your sin. Oh, y'all almighty quiet.
08:32 And when I have to eat the head of the lamb, I think about my next sin with a little bit more caution
08:38 because I realized somebody had to die. So he says, man, when when you go eat this meal,
08:48 you can't pick and choose which parts you want. You've got to eat all of it and see friends of mine.
08:54 This shows why some of us have never experienced the fullness of Jesus Christ.
09:00 See, I need somebody to understand that spiritually you are on the verge of something.
09:06 Hear me today, saints, somebody's on the verge of constructing a transformative prayer life.
09:13 Somebody is on the verge of radical faith. Somebody's on the verge of a Pentecostal outpouring.
09:20 Some of us are on the verge of having visions and dreams.
09:25 But I need you to know that when you are on the verge of spiritual growth, you can't pick
09:30 and choose which parts of the lamb you're going to receive. See, some of us still hadn't gotten it
09:35 because some many of us are clear that the lamb represents. The lamb represents Jesus Christ.
09:48 That's why when Jesus came walking along the foothills of the Jordan River and John the Baptist looked upon him.
09:54 He didn't call him by his government name,
09:56 but he said, 'Behold the lamb of God, which take us away the sin of the world'.
10:01 It is why when John sees him in the book of Revelation,
10:04 he is referred to as the lamb slain before the foundation of the earth.
10:10 It is literally why Paul refers to Christ as our Passover,
10:15 because the same way that they partook of the Passover lamb when we eat the bread, which is a symbol of his body
10:23 and the wine, which is a symbol of his blood, it's not just enough for us to be in the lamb.
10:29 It doesn't take effect until the lamb is inside of us. Are y'all hearing the word today? My friends?
10:37 And so I need somebody to understand friends that as they partake of the meal, which is a symbol of Christ,
10:42 they cannot decide, I want some parts of the lamb and not other parts of the lamb.
10:47 God is saying, you got to have all of the lamb or none of the lamb. You can't have lamb, a la carte.
10:55 You can't have buffet, lamb, where I'm going to eat this part of Christ and I'm going to reject that part of Christ.
11:03 We got to get to a place where I'm going to embrace all of Jesus or none of Jesus.
11:10 And see the problem with some in our time is that we want the blessing of the lamb,
11:15 but we don't want the correction of the lamb. We want to have the lambs favor,
11:24 but we don't want to forgive like the lamb forgave. We want the lamb that savior,
11:30 but we don't want the lamb's head. Oh, y'all mighty quiet. Oh, oh, oh. We want his omnipotence,
11:37 but we don't want to have obedience. We want his character, but we don't want his commandments.
11:43 We want his provision, but we don't want to obey his prophecy. And see, the problem is we're trying to mix and match.
11:51 We're trying to choose and leave behind.
11:54 But I need you to know that you cannot experience the fullness of Christ until you embrace the fullness of Christ.
12:02 See, I need us to understand, I cannot have the--you realize you can't even be fully loved by God if you reject his
12:10 discipline. Have y'all not read Hebrews 11? He says, whom the Lord loves, he chases.
12:24 So we want to walk around talking about, I'm a son, I'm a daughter of God. I'm an Israelite. I'm a prince.
12:30 How you going to be a son or daughter of God if you going to reject the chastening portion of your journey?
12:35 Do you realize friends of mind that the proof
12:37 or the evidence that you are a son or a daughter of God is that you receive his chastening,
12:43 not as punishment, but as preservation?
12:47 [Congregation: Amen]
12:48 It's crazy, man.
12:50 I remember my daughter had a little birthday party one day at one of the little theme areas here around town.
12:54 And it was a bunch of kids. And so some of the kids start to get a little wild. They try to get a little buck.
12:58 You know how our kids do, got some babies here in this community.
13:01 And it is crazy because the kids were like doing some stuff, jumping on some stuff, getting on the edge.
13:06 So I went to my daughter and I began to kind of pull her down and make sure she was safe.
13:10 And I began to chastise her about what she was supposed to do.
13:13 And it's crazy Dr. Pollard because somebody from the outside, she saw me with a bunch of kids.
13:19 But then she says, that must be your daughter. And I said, how do you know that's my daughter?
13:25 She says, I know it's yours because that's the one you chasing. In other words, I know you cared about the other kids,
13:33 but you couldn't afford to let that one get hurt. You couldn't afford to let that one fall down.
13:39 You couldn't afford to let that one get bruised up. I know the one that's yours by the one you're chasing.
13:45 In other words, everybody got pizza, everybody got cupcakes, and everybody got cola. But only one got the chasing.
13:52 And is there anybody that knows that God is going to cause the sun to rise on the evil and on the good?
13:59 But those that are his children are the ones that say, I don't just thank you for the cupcakes and the cookies.
14:07 I thank you, Lord, for the chasing. I thank you for the rebuke. I thank you for the correction. It's a crazy praise.
14:16 Listen, I grew up in a house where we didn't get timeouts. Oh, oh, come on, come on. I know y'all got some education here.
14:25 But anybody remembers them days where your grandma, they would make you go get your own switch.
14:34 And if you came back with a tiny one, it would make your punishment even worse.
14:42 And I thought my parents was lying when they said, this is going to hurt me more than it hurts you.
14:51 And I need you to know I wasn't thankful for them then. But when I look back over my life
14:57 and I look at where some of my friends landed and where some of my homies landed and where some of my cousins landed,
15:04 I wasn't thanking God for the belt or the switch then. But when I look back over my life,
15:10 I'm thankful for parents that didn't just give video games or cake or pizza.
15:18 But the best parents give correction and chastening. And because I'm a son, I receive it.
15:29 Are y'all hearing the word today? And it's funny about y'all grandparents.
15:41 See, I tell my kids how my parents raised me and they don't believe it because y'all grandparents are deceitful.
15:48 [Congregation: Laugh]
15:50 Come on, tell the truth. Come on, come on, come on. Grandparents raised us under the law and then they raise their
15:57 grandkids under grace. Oh, just let that baby alone. Let them have some more candy and soda and syrup and ice.
16:08 Oh Lord, where all this came from. Who are you?
16:19 [Congregation: Laughing]
16:31 You be trying to make the point to your kids. They be like, oh, not my nana. Verse 11 And thus you shall eat it.
16:45 Watch this with a belt on your waist, sandals on your feet, a staff in your hand and you shall eat it in haste
16:56 because it is the Lord's Passover. Last thing, when you're on the verge of something, your posture can't be stationary.
17:08 Again. My friends, once the instructions are here given he said, listen, when y'all eat this meal,
17:14 y'all can't eat this meal relaxed reclining with your feet up and the top button of your pants loose.
17:24 He, he's saying, you can't sit down and eat this meal. You got to get this one in the drive-through and see, understand.
17:32 He literally says, like he says, eat it with your shoes on. Eat it with your belt tight.
17:41 He says, don't even sit down, eat it standing up so that as soon as the freedom decree as scent,
17:50 you are ready to walk through the door As soon as it opens up. Why does God do this?
18:00 Because God understands that Pharaoh is going to harden himself again.
18:06 He understands that the freedom window is going to open suddenly, but then it is going to close quickly
18:15 and see if they wait too long when the door opens and now I got to start putting on my shoes
18:22 and I got to now find my belt. And now I got to start packing my bag.
18:26 And now I got to start readying the animals to leave. And now I got to find out where my sandals are.
18:32 God knows that by the time you get ready, the door that was open will be closed before you move.
18:41 Are you hearing what I'm saying? And see, I need us to be clear on this because some of us are on the verge of something.
18:49 Some of us are about to have doors open, some are about to have opportunities sent your way.
18:54 Some are about to have blessings show up in manifold fashion over in your life.
19:00 And there are some that you got to make sure that you already got your belt on.
19:04 You got to already got to make sure that your shoes is on your feet.
19:07 You got to make sure that you're standing up in anticipation so that when the opportunity opens up,
19:13 you are ready to move when God says move, let me just say this
19:19 because see there are some of us that look with jealousy upon the opportunity of others.
19:23 Why? Because we think there are some that have the mightiest touch. We feel like all the doors open up for them.
19:29 We feel like they get all of the chances and nothing comes my way.
19:32 But see, I need you to understand why some get more opportunities from others is those who get the most opportunities
19:39 are those who prepare for opportunity without a date. Can I say something?
19:47 Do you realize that opportunity is attracted to preparation? No opportunity is infatuated and obsessed with preparation.
20:01 So whenever somebody starts preparing opportunity just starts moving and see.
20:11 See God knows man that Pharaoh's going to change his mind and he says,
20:16 I know that this window's going to open quick and it's going to close quick.
20:19 But see man, if they still fooling around and they got to find their shoes
20:22 and they got to find their belt and they got to get up off the couch,
20:26 the door is going to be closed before it's time to move.
20:30 And I want to say to somebody who's on the verge of something before those doors open,
20:36 you've got to already be in a mobile posture so that when it swings open, oh God, if you don't hear anything else,
20:47 hear this, saints so that when it swings open, you already got one foot in it as soon as the crack shows up.
20:55 Are y'all hearing me today, Friends? Opportunity goes hunting for preparation. It stalks preparation.
21:10 It pursues preparation. This is going to sound sacrilegious. As a matter of fact,
21:15 some of us ought to spend less time praying for opportunities and spend more time preparing for opportunities.
21:21 In fact, I need you to know preparation is just a prayer without words. Oh God, where y'all at today?
21:27 Church, that preparation is just a prayer that you have not given voice to. In other words,
21:33 stop just praying for a husband and start preparing to be a wife.
21:39 See you running around here praying for a wife, but you ain't got no job.
21:44 In other words, you're praying for it but you ain't prepared for it. And don't just pray to be the leader.
21:50 Prepare for the competencies that come along with leadership. Don't just pray for the CD opportunity to be given.
21:58 Start writing music before you even meet a producer or a choreographer. Don't just pray for a book deal.
22:05 You got to write when ain't nobody calling your name and ain't nobody even checking for you.
22:10 What I'm saying to somebody today is if you start preparing for it, God is going to start sending it in your direction.
22:20 But see, like I said, some of us man, we won't always wait until we see.
22:25 But see, I need somebody to understand that seasons of preparation precede seasons of opportunity.
22:37 See, God is a bad parent if he sends opportunity before preparation because literally,
22:43 opportunity consumes those who have not prepared themselves for it. So stop trying to invert the order.
22:53 I want the opportunity just because I'm me. I'm preparing for something. I don't have a clock, I ain't got no calendar.
23:05 I don't know when, but I know God and I know God is going to show up right on time. Are y'all hearing the word today?
23:13 My friends And see this thing?
23:17 I need you to understand that the season of preparations are longer than the seasons of opportunity.
23:27 He prepared them for hundreds of years, but the opportunity to walk out wasn't but a couple of days
23:32 before Pharaoh changed his mind. And see that's why we got to operate in readiness. Somebody shouts readiness.
23:39 [Congregation: Readiness]
23:41 See I need us to understand that there's a difference between being ready for something
23:44 and being prepared for something. See, readiness speaks to my desire to have it.
23:50 Preparation speaks to the work that I put in to be able to perform that which God is going to place under my stewardship.
24:00 So some of us are ready to be married but we ain't prepared for it. We are ready to be parents
24:05 but we ain't prepared for it. We're ready to be in charge but we are not prepared for it. Why?
24:11 Because there is no infrastructure in the soul that warrants that type of opportunity.
24:19 Are y'all hearing what the pastor is saying today? You got to get prepared for something.
24:27 You got to learn how to wait on God. You got to learn how to be still in him
24:34 and and when that door moves you got to be ready to move with it. Listen, I'm almost done.
24:41 It's crazy. Like anybody ever have like in the summer months. I mean I ain't going to lie,
24:46 this takes all the Jesus out of me when the kids open up the door, leave it open and flies come in the house.
24:58 I ain't going to lie, if y'all saw the inside of that house, I would have to resign from being pastor of this church.
25:03 I mean, it's not like they won't just go in the window and chill. They just run by my ears. And so I'm like man, yo.
25:11 So one day I'm like man, why?
25:13 Why y'all keep leaving the door open? We finally get them out.
25:15 But then I noticed one time like it's not even like they left it open As soon as the door opened they came right in.
25:26 And so later in the day I go outside, you know I'm doing some work in the front yard
25:30 and one of the things I find out about flies is that flies have a way of sensing heat and food.
25:37 And when they know there's heat in the house, our food in the house, they will just begin circling by the door.
25:45 They just kicking it at the door. Oh, y'all didn't hear me? They just posted at the door.
25:52 They just chilling at the door. They don't know when the door is going to open.
25:57 They don't know if the door is going to open.
26:00 They don't know what time the door is going to open
26:04 but they just hang there by the door ready so that as soon as it opens they marching right in.
26:12 Is there anybody that's got some eight-wing fly faith that says, I don't know when it is going open.
26:19 I don't know what day is going open, but I know he opens doors that no man can shut
26:28 and he shuts doors that no man can open. So I'm not going to get distracted.
26:35 I'm not going get discouraged. I ain't going back the way I came, but I'm just going to sit here on the porch.
26:43 So that when it opens I already got one foot in. If you got fly faith, praise the name of the Lord in this place today.
