00:01 #S055 - “One Day At A TIme” (Part 2)
00:19 Welcome to the Breath Of Life
00:21 Television Ministries broadcast with Pastor Debleaire Snell.
00:26 In today's episode, Pastor Snell will continue with part
00:29 two of the powerful message titled One Day at a Time.
00:34 Now let's go deeper into the word of God.
00:38 And what he's trying to teach Israel along with us is that I
00:42 must be your contingency plan.
00:47 See how many of us understand
00:48 that in the will of God, you don't need a plan B, right?
00:53 Okay.
00:56 If your steps
00:57 have been ordered by God, you don't need a backup plan.
01:02 You don't need an additional hard drive.
01:05 You don't need a para shoot if your steps have been ordered.
01:09 By God.
01:10 I need you to know that God is going to come through.
01:14 But I need you to know the reason
01:15 why God hates our backup plan.
01:18 Because when you walk by site,
01:19 your backup plan supplants God's original plan.
01:25 So there were some of us
01:26 there were about to take the step of faith
01:28 and go back to school or maybe start the business.
01:32 But the problem is, you kept that decent paying job
01:36 and you kept it as a contingency plan.
01:39 And that contingency plan supplanted God's original plan.
01:43 See, there were
01:44 some of us that are praying for God
01:46 to send a good godly husband, a good godly wife,
01:50 to help walk with you in eternity.
01:52 But the problem is, you will not let go of your jump
01:54 off your cutting partner or your friends with benefits
02:00 and say you can't even see God's original plan
02:05 because you're so emotionally entangled
02:08 with your content agency plan.
02:11 There are some of us that want to give
02:13 to the cause of Jesus Christ.
02:14 But what we do
02:15 is, man, we won't give God the first fruit of our offering.
02:19 We say, I'll return it at the end of the month.
02:22 So if God doesn't show up, then I got a little something
02:27 to keep me for bad days.
02:30 But what I'm trying to get somebody to understand
02:32 is that man, your contingency plan.
02:34 It is an act of disobedience
02:37 that puts you on the other side of the blessing of God.
02:41 See? Help me, Holy Spirit.
02:43 I need somebody to be clear that there can be
02:46 no contingencies in the realm of faith
02:51 like this.
02:53 And I need you to be clear that God is not tie savings account.
02:57 God is not a.t diamond front.
03:00 He is not into having a little extra on occasion.
03:02 But what god is saying
03:04 is that I'm going to make war with anything you create
03:09 to create a cushion for your disobedience against my word.
03:12 How many of us in the room today
03:14 want to live in miracle territory?
03:17 Do I have at least a one witness today?
03:19 Now, I need you to know that there is no contingencies
03:24 in miracle territory. You all with the pastor today?
03:27 Do you realize that when Moses got to the bottom of the Red Sea
03:31 and Pharaoh's army was behind him and walls on both sides?
03:34 God didn't say to Moses,
03:36 This is what you do if the waters don't open up.
03:40 He simply had to trust God for the waters to open up.
03:44 When they got to the Jordan River,
03:45 they didn't wait for the waters to part before they stepped in.
03:49 They had to step in the water.
03:50 Then the waters began to part.
03:53 Do you realize that when Peter walked on water,
03:56 Jesus didn't give him a flotation device.
03:59 He didn't give him an inner tube.
04:00 He had to put all of his weight on the words of Jesus Christ.
04:05 When the ten lepers went their way,
04:08 Jesus didn't give them the address to CBS.
04:10 In the event that they didn't get healed,
04:13 they had to walk all the way in obedience.
04:17 When Abraham sacrificed Isaac, his only continuance was
04:21 that God would provide or God would provide a resurrection.
04:25 If you don't believe in miracle terrain,
04:29 you got to leave your
04:30 backup plan behind.
04:35 And it's crazy because for 40 years, how long?
04:38 Church 40 years. No backup.
04:42 40 years.
04:43 No extra. 40 years. No excess.
04:47 40 years, no savings.
04:50 Watch this church every night.
04:54 They go to bed with the fridge empty.
04:58 And it's crazy
05:00 because I can see like the first day of a miracle,
05:03 like when they go to bed and they know extra.
05:04 McCarthy Joel's waking up at three in the morning
05:09 and they want to be the first ones out in the event
05:12 that God didn't put out enough to get it in front of the rest.
05:17 Who? Maybe I'm asleep. I hear what I'm saying.
05:19 So for these first couple of days, man,
05:21 every day they wake up with anxiety.
05:22 But guess what, man?
05:23 The provision is there for the first couple of months.
05:26 They wake up a little nervous, but guess what?
05:28 Every day they wake up, the provision is still there.
05:32 After a whole year, they still have a little bit of anxiety.
05:34 But every day they wake up and the provision is still there.
05:37 After two years, they wake up and it's there.
05:40 After five years, they wake up and it's there.
05:43 After ten years, they wake up and it's still there.
05:46 After 20 years, they wake up and it's still there.
05:49 After 30 days, they wake up and it's still there.
05:52 After 40 years, they wake up and the provision is still there.
05:56 And what God has done,
05:57 unbeknownst to them, is he has built a history with them
06:01 so that for 40 years God comes through
06:05 every single day of the week and they've seen God come through
06:10 with so little that they can now rest with nothing.
06:15 Oh, God.
06:17 See, some of us can only rest when we see something.
06:20 But do I have seven folk that I've just seen God work with?
06:24 So nothing.
06:27 Oh, God.
06:28 Can I just suggest that if you ain't
06:31 never been down to your last, you've been deprived.
06:36 But I need seven folk that have been down today.
06:40 A whole bunch of times to testify
06:45 that no matter how broke to bear,
06:48 no matter how desperate it got, no matter how narrow
06:53 the margins were, God still came through
06:58 100 times out of 100.
07:02 You can say I've never been forsaken.
07:05 My seed is never gone.
07:07 Millions of bread, are you hear what I'm saying?
07:12 I see. Sometimes friends.
07:14 God keeps you in that season temporarily
07:18 so that you come to know that he is your supplier.
07:26 You are here in the world today. Friends.
07:30 See, sometimes God ordains it
07:34 to teach us to stop worrying
07:37 about things that are not your responsibility.
07:42 In other words, he is your provider.
07:44 God is your father.
07:46 And sometimes God uses object lessons that make us comfortable
07:51 to teach us how to walk in faith.
07:55 It's crazy.
07:57 You know, my youngest son who's getting baptized
07:58 today is crazy whenever I've got a child.
08:00 Whenever you bring groceries into the house,
08:03 they examine everything that comes inside.
08:06 Ma'am, he be examining what's in the pantry.
08:09 He knows how many juice boxes we got,
08:10 how many snacks we got me.
08:12 I mean, he keeps inventory
08:15 on everything that's coming,
08:16 and it's crazy
08:17 because when they were a little younger
08:18 and they had to get ready to break their lunch for school,
08:20 you know,
08:21 there was some juice boxes mixing on snacks,
08:23 missing man, these guys would get all worked up, man,
08:25 because they didn't have enough snacks.
08:26 But like, one of the things I didn't realize about
08:28 my wife
08:28 is that
08:29 she was known for a late night or early morning store run.
08:34 And it's crazy because
08:35 sometimes they go to bed with the pantry entry empty,
08:39 but they would wake up because Mama already
08:42 had it on her agenda.
08:44 And by the time they woke up, the pantry would be full.
08:48 And what I'm saying is, eventually
08:50 she got on them about their worries and says,
08:52 Have you ever gone to school hungry?
08:55 Have you ever gone without a snack?
08:58 Have you ever gone without a juice box?
09:01 And what she's saying
09:02 is, I need you to look at your history
09:04 before you get concerned about your destiny.
09:07 And what I'm saying,
09:08 that somebody it doesn't matter what's there.
09:10 When you go to sleep, you serve the God that never sleeps.
09:15 He never slumbers.
09:17 And if you look back over your life,
09:20 you can testify that you've never gone without.
09:24 But God comes third, right on time.
09:27 Third thing, that's teachers, friends of mine.
09:30 Is that work or preparation is still up,
09:34 that that divine provision still requires human work.
09:39 All right. Let me say it again.
09:42 Divine provision still requires human work.
09:46 So. So, God, you also me.
09:48 Church
09:50 provided the manna.
09:53 But guess what?
09:55 They still had to go gather it.
09:59 They still got provided the quail.
10:01 And guess what? They still had to prepare it.
10:04 Oh, y'all looking at me brand new.
10:06 In other words, God provided the manna.
10:09 But he didn't send an angel with a fork
10:13 to pluck it up and spoon feed it
10:16 or hand feed it into their mouths.
10:19 Guess what?
10:20 Their faith
10:21 had to be accompanied by works or these are y'all with me
10:25 today, friends.
10:27 So that even though they gathered, I need to get
10:30 this gathering was still a component of divine provision
10:39 gathering was not separate from his provision
10:42 gathering was a component of his provision.
10:45 And there are two things I want to address because see,
10:48 there are some of us that have this mythical faith.
10:52 It is this mythical faith that is simply mental assent
10:56 to a belief in God.
10:57 But it requires me
10:58 not to sacrifice, prepare, study, work, be diligent.
11:04 I just sit and wait on the Lord.
11:09 Some of us in here praise the Lord.
11:11 You know I'm waiting on the Lord.
11:13 You know the Lord to say,
11:16 I'm sitting here in heaven, waiting on you to move in faith.
11:19 Are you hearing what I'm saying?
11:21 Because even when you look at preceding, there were a number
11:25 of institutions that God put in place,
11:27 even before seeing Sabbath was instituted, before
11:29 seeing that marriage was instituted before sin.
11:32 And guess what? Work
11:35 was instituted
11:36 before sin so that Adam couldn't just enjoy the garden.
11:41 If he wasn't willing to dress and keep the garden.
11:44 In other words, work was always a part of God's divine command,
11:48 so that no matter how much faith or trust in God you had,
11:51 guess what? There was no substitute for diligence.
11:54 So, students, you can pray until your knees
11:57 turn brown about the midterm.
12:05 But at some point you won't have
12:07 to turn off your device, your video game,
12:10 tell your boo to go home, get off the phone,
12:13 go to the library, open a book, write
12:19 all the teachers.
12:20 Can I get an amen today?
12:25 No, don't come on.
12:25 Test day with no revelation.
12:29 That's the only day you got.
12:30 Revelation?
12:32 Yeah. You want to say?
12:35 But what I'm saying is there seek.
12:37 God provides.
12:40 But you still got to gather.
12:42 There's somebody holding a lot of people to your pastor.
12:45 It's just hard to find a job.
12:46 No, it ain't.
12:50 Huntsville is one of these cities where if you want a job,
12:52 am I telling you
12:53 you can find a job in this city
12:55 if you can't find one, no one else.
12:57 I'll tell my parents the other day, man,
12:59 there is a Dollar General not far from my house.
13:03 And I walked in Dollar General one day with some slacks and
13:05 a kind of a blazer and a shirt I didn't have on a full suit.
13:08 But it's crazy because man, they were so desperate
13:09 for people to work in Dollar General.
13:10 I was just having a buggy with some drinks and some
13:14 plastic forks and spoons and right there on the spot
13:16 the lady said, Are you looking for a job?
13:25 I was kind of like. Well, how much does it pay?
13:27 I don't know.
13:29 Maybe I am. I don't.
13:32 They say the Lord works in mysterious ways. I do.
13:34 I don't know.
13:36 And it's crazy because, like, right.
13:37 That lady offers me a job on the spot
13:39 and she sees how I'm dressed
13:40 and she says,
13:41 You know what? Not only will offer a job,
13:42 you can probably start as a manager and
13:49 so if you walk in the Dollar General and see me
13:51 with little yellow shirts on, y'all know?
14:02 But what I'm saying is cap provides.
14:06 But the question is, are you gathering
14:12 for some of us?
14:13 God has provided you are pretty good husband or wife,
14:18 but the problem is you operating on autopilot.
14:21 Are you still working for the marriage?
14:24 Are you still gathering in the home?
14:27 For some of us, God has provided the opportunity for education.
14:30 But are you gathering?
14:32 For some of us, God has provided for certain illnesses.
14:37 I need you to know there are some certain
14:37 lifestyle issues
14:39 that if we just change or amend or adjust,
14:42 health will resume and healing will return on to us.
14:45 But are you willing to walk around the block,
14:47 drink a few glasses of what? Will you gather
14:50 what God has provided?
14:53 Are you hear what I'm saying?
14:55 But then we have some that have a mythical faith,
14:58 but then some of us, because we gather,
15:02 we cease giving the appropriate
15:04 amount of glory to God for what He has provided
15:09 since He's the time
15:10 when some of us is, we confuse our roles and husbands.
15:13 You hear me say this with intentional redundancy?
15:18 I need you to understand, even though, brother,
15:19 you may get up and go to work,
15:20 you may put on your armor, you may go and do it over time.
15:25 I need you to understand that you are not provider right?
15:30 Oh, you and your feelings.
15:31 Okay, I'm staying right here with the work.
15:33 I need you to know that you are not provider.
15:36 Provider is his name.
15:38 You gather
15:42 what Jehovah provides.
15:46 Are y'all hearing what I'm saying?
15:48 Do you realize it's Jehovah that provided the job?
15:52 It's Jehovah that provided the promotion.
15:57 It's Jehovah that provide y'all hearing what I'm saying.
15:59 All right, go to Act 17 and verse 28 real quick,
16:03 since some of us act in brand new Act 17 and verse 28,
16:06 because some of us men still walking around talking
16:08 about how we pulled ourselves up from our own bootstraps,
16:11 how we are, are self-made men and women.
16:16 But I need you to know the devil is a liar
16:20 and there is no truth in him at 17 and verse
16:23 28, when you get to them, you say, Man,
16:27 accept the 17 and verse 28
16:33 I'm having a hard time getting myself at 17
16:37 and verse 28, when you get there, let me say, ma'am,
16:41 at 17, this is what happens when you don't bring your glasses
16:48 because you're trying to be vain.
16:49 I mean, the earth is four in him.
16:55 We live and move
16:58 and have our what in him.
17:02 We live and move and have our being.
17:06 So stop walking around talking about how you got up
17:08 and went to work as if you did it by yourself.
17:12 Oh, how many of us are aware that it is God
17:18 that renew the lease on your breath?
17:23 That it was God that kept the synopses firing in your brain?
17:29 That it is God
17:31 that allow lambs to follow the commands of the mind.
17:36 That it is God that has the muscles still attached to bone.
17:41 So that no matter how hard you work,
17:44 no matter how creative your vision,
17:45 no matter how diligent your efforts,
17:48 I need you to realize that the ability
17:51 to put forth the effort comes from hell month.
17:55 You are here in the world today. So it's crazy.
17:59 Like you remember a while back, you know, before LeBron
18:01 broke Kareem's scoring record, they,
18:04 you know,
18:05 they interview Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
18:08 and they ask him about all the points that he scored.
18:10 And it's crazy because one of the things
18:10 that Kareem said, Louis,
18:11 is that even though he scored a bunch of points, one of
18:14 the things that he credited was he credited magic.
18:19 He gave a lot of credit to magic
18:20 because magic was the one that gave him the
18:24 assist.
18:25 Oh, you didn't catch that.
18:27 In other words,
18:28 even though I scored all the points,
18:30 he knows that
18:31 if somebody didn't give me the ball where I like it
18:35 and when I like it
18:37 or put it right at the rim for me to score it,
18:40 just what I could not have scored
18:41 all the points without somebody giving some distribution.
18:46 And what I'm saying is somebody ought
18:47 to give God and assist praise.
18:49 It doesn't matter how many points you scored,
18:53 it doesn't matter how productive you are.
18:55 Somebody had to distribute the job.
18:58 Somebody had to assist with the promotion.
19:01 Somebody had to throw the alley oop.
19:03 The hardest part is not drawing it down.
19:05 It's putting it where somebody can get it.
19:08 Are here in the word today.
19:10 The last thing this teaches us this the most time is
19:14 that you can never be fed by somebody else's portion.
19:22 So so God created this miraculous form of provision.
19:28 So God set it up in such a way
19:30 where each person
19:31 was supposed to get one omer per person
19:34 and each person would get one
19:35 for if the head of the household went out,
19:37 he would gather that person for each individual in the house.
19:41 You'll catch that.
19:44 Now, one of the things that God did was he says everybody
19:46 gets their own portion
19:56 so that when you got your plate,
19:58 there were no need of you
20:00 going and looking at everybody else's plate.
20:03 There was no need of you
20:04 trying to covet what they had on theirs.
20:07 You had to be thankful for what God had put on yours.
20:12 And that's what God got made in such a way
20:16 that if you tried to give him more access, guess what?
20:17 It was going to mold and run out.
20:20 It was going to stink because he was
20:22 not going to allow the strong
20:25 to create a manna empire, right.
20:30 Where the strong survived at the expense of the weak.
20:34 And this is how, you know, God is not Republican.
20:42 He didn't let 1% get 70% of the.
20:45 Yeah, I'm yeah.
20:49 I mean, I'm not Republican or Democrat.
20:54 I'm independent even from the best.
21:01 But nobody was fighting over their pork.
21:05 They had to get their portion and be glad with it
21:08 under God's government. Guess what?
21:10 There are no big eyes, no small use, no hierarchies.
21:14 There were no bodies, there were no haves and have nots.
21:16 God made sure
21:17 that there was enough provision so that everybody had some.
21:21 You're hearing what I'm saying.
21:24 You know, what you had to do is once you at your portion,
21:28 God set it up in such a way, man.
21:30 I don't know if you call it
21:31 the little miracle embedded in the thing where he says,
21:33 if somebody may gather too much, it would it would rot.
21:37 And if somebody gave it to little
21:39 God would make up the difference.
21:41 Oh, so literally, not only the God provided every day,
21:46 if you didn't get enough on your plate,
21:47 God literally multiplied it as you eat it
21:52 so that you would be satisfied with the portion that you had.
21:58 And simply what I want to say, beloved,
22:00 before I get ready to take my seat,
22:01 because I need to know that in this particular miracle, God
22:05 essentially models
22:06 two of the Ten Commandments,
22:07 he says, gather a double portion on the sixth day
22:10 so you can rest on the seventh day.
22:12 So God models, guess what?
22:13 The fourth commandment about Sabbath or rest trust in God.
22:17 But then in this miracle,
22:19 you know, he literally
22:20 teaches the children of Israel to do not to covet
22:24 that which belongs to your neighbor,
22:28 because he's saying if you jump and it don't matter.
22:30 And it just got so
22:31 it didn't matter if he was the first one out
22:33 or whether he was the last one there.
22:35 Guess what?
22:36 There was still going to be enough for you.
22:41 Okay.
22:45 Let me say it again.
22:46 It didn't matter if you got there first.
22:49 It didn't matter if you got there last
22:52 God was going to preserve enough of a portion for you.
22:57 Okay.
22:58 Some of y'all, Mr.
22:59 South, because some of us are so worried about where we are
23:02 in line that we will worry ourselves out of faith.
23:08 And I need some young person to know.
23:10 It doesn't matter if you the first one
23:12 of your friends to get engaged or whether you are the last one
23:16 God has somebody reserved just for you.
23:20 It doesn't matter if in your friend
23:21 so good, you're the first one to get a house
23:24 or the last one to get a house.
23:25 God has one preserve just for you.
23:29 It doesn't matter if their kids already came back to church.
23:32 God has a portion of salvation just for yours.
23:36 Stop counting your place in line
23:39 and start counting your blessings in God.
23:42 Because God is going to reserve a portion
23:46 just for you.
23:51 Are you all here in the world today, friends?
23:53 I see this is critical
23:55 because, see, some of us won't ever have joy
24:02 until you stop looking at
24:03 somebody else's portion.
24:08 You can't even see the good thing on your own plate
24:13 because you are so busy
24:16 looking at what God gave them.
24:18 Now He literally gave the same thing He's giving you.
24:21 Everybody got the same plate.
24:23 And what I'm saying to
24:24 somebody today, I want to say to some family,
24:31 some some married brother that's looking at single life,
24:35 some married sister,
24:36 they're saying, oh, single life would be better
24:39 when the grass looks greener on the other side.
24:42 Just water your own grass, you know?
24:48 Are you hear what I'm saying?
24:52 You know what I'm learning to be satisfied with my problems
24:56 right? I
25:01 see you looking at certain folk in church or in your job,
25:05 and they look so good.
25:08 But you couldn't even walk a mile in their shoes.
25:12 If you could, you would
25:13 run back to your little problem so fast
25:18 cause you can't tell what people are going through
25:20 by looking at them here in church today.
25:25 And when I'm calling somebody to do
25:28 is to take what the Scripture says
25:30 and Philippians to say, Man, you know what?
25:32 The greatest blessing in life is?
25:34 Not necessarily when I just have everything,
25:36 that thing that I want,
25:37 but when I can get to the place where I'm content
25:40 with the portion that God has given me.
25:44 So you can say, like Paul, I know how to be well-fed,
25:47 I know how hungry,
25:48 I know how to be bound, and I know how to be a base.
25:51 No matter what's the base situation or circumstance
25:52 I'm in, I have learned how to be content
25:55 and I can do all things through Christ
25:58 who gives me strength?
26:01 All right, I'm going to long.
26:04 But you know what?
26:05 The best thing God provided out as he set the 40 year
26:10 miracle in motion.
26:10 You know, the best thing he provided was
26:14 it wasn't manna, it wasn't quail.
26:21 Somebody said it,
26:24 you know, the best thing he provided was
26:27 was grace.
26:31 Somebody didn't even see it yet.
26:33 You know how that story sort of raised?
26:37 They murmured and complained
26:41 against God, Oh, you out and get it.
26:45 You know how that story should end.
26:47 It's just a martin
26:48 is sure to say mama and complained against God
26:53 and it should have read and the anger of God
26:56 broke out against them
26:58 and consumed them because of their hard
27:01 heartedness is how the story should read.
27:05 But because God is long suffering,
27:09 because he is slow to anger and abundant in mercy,
27:15 God took their complaint, sent the Holy Spirit to intercede.
27:20 And what was their complaint?
27:22 Oh God heard it like a prayer
27:25 and it supplied their knee even though they did not ask.
27:31 And so for 40 years, God didn't just send food on top of food.
27:35 He sent mercy on top of mercy and grace on top of grace
27:40 and long suffering on top of long
27:42 suffering and day after day he was patient.
27:46 And day after day he was kind.
27:49 And he did not treat them as they deserved.
27:53 But he treated them according to the multitude
27:57 of his tender mercies.
