00:01 It's time to go on a journey.
00:04 A search for treasure.
00:07 This is no ordinary treasure though.
00:10 This priceless discovery contains God's Word,
00:15 including secrets from the past and future
00:19 that will change your life.
00:22 Welcome to Bible Treasures.
00:30 You really gonna need this, Isabella,
00:32 it's super hot outside.
00:35 Sorry, sorry, I'm really sorry about that.
00:37 It's okay. I was waiting to ask you guys.
00:39 Yeah.
00:41 Why did Riley throw his clock out the window?
00:43 He threw his clock out of the window?
00:45 Why would he do that?
00:46 Oh, I know why.
00:48 It's because he wanted to see time fly.
00:53 Hey everyone, how's it going?
00:55 So glad you're here. Come on in, guys.
00:56 So glad to be here.
00:57 Oh that's Awesome. Today's gonna be a great day.
00:59 Welcome to Bible Treasures.
01:01 My name is Rich Aguilera and we've got
01:02 an awesome crew here assembled.
01:05 I'll let them introduce themselves.
01:07 Hi, my name is Isabella,
01:09 and I'm in charge of computer ops.
01:11 Cool. Who else do we have?
01:12 And I'm Sam, the one who you're supposed to talk to
01:15 if you're want to know more about historical documents.
01:18 Awesome.
01:19 Hi, I'm Nora and I love to work with pretty cool artifacts.
01:22 Awesome.
01:23 Well, you know, why don't we get ready for today
01:25 by starting with a brain teaser?
01:27 That's a good idea.
01:28 All right, let's drop in our brains here.
01:29 I think I found a good one for you guys.
01:31 Really?
01:32 Let's see if you can figure this out.
01:34 Okay. All right.
01:35 It says the more you take out of it,
01:37 the bigger it becomes.
01:38 What is it?
01:40 The more you take out of it, the bigger it becomes.
01:43 We're gonna need some time to think about that.
01:44 Yeah, let's see if you guys can figure that one out.
01:46 Wait, I think I heard something.
01:48 Really?
01:49 Yeah, there might be a message from headquarters.
01:50 Oh, cool. Hope it is.
01:54 Recently, a good friend of mine died of cancer.
01:59 And we're all really sad.
02:03 Why does God have to let good people die?
02:06 Oh, that's such a sad question.
02:09 Yeah, my grandma died not long ago.
02:11 Oh, so sorry to hear that.
02:13 Oh, man, sorry to hear that, Sam.
02:14 Death is so sad.
02:15 It is. It is.
02:17 How should we respond to that?
02:18 Yeah, that's a good question.
02:20 Well, you know what, first of all,
02:21 why don't we write this down in our journal
02:23 so we get our question down.
02:24 I think we should. This is a hard question, man.
02:27 Why do people have to die?
02:31 Now I wonder myself.
02:33 That's a good question.
02:36 Well, you know what?
02:37 I think I have an idea of how we can respond to this.
02:39 What's the deal? We'll need an artifact.
02:41 Oh, okay. Could you get one for us?
02:43 What number? I think it's 44 X.
02:46 Oh, okay. I think that might help.
02:48 And I bring all these little artifacts around
02:50 'cause you never know when we're gonna use them
02:51 and they help us understand different Bible lessons.
02:54 Awesome.
02:56 Okay, I got something pretty cool in here,
02:57 I want to show you.
02:59 I love learning artifacts.
03:00 This is actually, this is actually a fossil.
03:01 Oh. A fossil, cool from where?
03:03 I got this in Utah.
03:06 Oh, I see it. It's right there.
03:07 Yeah, that's right.
03:09 Wow, I can't wait to learn more about it.
03:11 Yeah, well, this is actually called a trilobite.
03:13 A trilobite? Wow.
03:15 Actually, you know what?
03:17 Sam, it would be probably good to see
03:18 where on the map Utah is.
03:19 Can you show us?
03:21 It seems to be right about here.
03:24 I marked it already. Yep. That's it.
03:26 Oh, cool. You know what?
03:27 We could probably learn a lot about Utah
03:29 if we see a location brief.
03:30 Isabella, do you think we have one?
03:32 Oh, yes. I was just checking that out.
03:35 Oh. Wow.
03:37 It's so cool.
03:39 Location brief, Utah.
03:42 Utah is a Western State
03:45 of the United States of America,
03:48 and home to some of the most incredible landscapes on earth.
03:54 There is an incredible diversity of places to see,
03:57 including Monument Valley,
04:00 a region with many sandstone buttes
04:03 rising from the desert floor.
04:06 There's also Goosenecks State Park,
04:10 a curvy winding canyon,
04:12 with the San Juan River 1000 feet below.
04:18 One of the several national parks in Utah
04:21 is Arches National Park,
04:24 where there are more than 2000 natural arches
04:28 carved out of the sandstone rock.
04:31 There's also Escalante National Monument
04:35 that includes beautiful areas of landscape
04:38 that seemed to have been perfectly carved into stone.
04:43 Not far away is Zion National Park,
04:47 a stunning 15 mile long canyon,
04:50 with canyon walls dropping over 2600 feet deep.
04:56 One of the most striking natural features
04:58 in many places in Utah are the slot canyons,
05:03 including one of the most famous slot canyons,
05:06 Antelope Canyon,
05:08 as well as a slot canyon in Zion National Park,
05:12 called The Narrows.
05:15 Another incredible national park nearby
05:18 is Bryce Canyon.
05:20 And even though the name says canyon,
05:23 the major feature is a giant natural amphitheater
05:28 filled with unique geological structures
05:32 called hoodoos formed by erosion.
05:36 Towards the center of Utah
05:38 is another incredibly unique state park
05:41 called Goblin Valley,
05:44 featuring thousands of strange looking
05:47 rock formations, also called hoodoos,
05:51 and also formed by erosion.
05:55 Farther north, around the Great Salt Lake
05:59 are huge, salt flats, a densely packed salt pan.
06:04 That's all that's left of an enormous dried up like.
06:09 It's easy to be amazed at how many incredibly
06:13 unique natural wonders are found in Utah.
06:18 This concludes this location brief.
06:22 Cool. Wow, that's awesome.
06:24 Yeah.
06:25 Utah really is a pretty cool place.
06:27 That seems likely. Yeah, it's very true.
06:28 A lot of amazing landscapes. You know what?
06:30 On this particular story, it happens to be
06:33 that our family and I were traveling
06:34 through the country.
06:36 Oh, okay.
06:37 We were on our way from Michigan to California
06:39 to visit my parents.
06:40 Wow. Oh, that's nice.
06:41 So we just kind of took the direct route
06:43 right down the middle, which is I 70,
06:44 which goes through Denver,
06:45 and through the Rocky Mountains,
06:47 and eventually into Utah.
06:48 That must have been beautiful. It was beautiful.
06:50 It's very beautiful place.
06:51 Now, when we got into Utah, we had a choice
06:54 because once you arrive at the end of Utah,
06:56 you have to kind of either go north or south
06:57 on another highway.
06:59 Okay.
07:00 But we decided this time that we're going to go
07:02 straight through on this little road.
07:03 And we got on this road, it was bumpy,
07:05 and there was nobody there.
07:07 And then we got off that road on to a dirt road.
07:09 And we traveled 20 miles into the mountains
07:12 on a dirt road.
07:14 That must have been very beautiful.
07:16 It's amazing but there was nobody there.
07:18 Oh, okay.
07:20 Wow, you guys had it all to yourself.
07:21 We had it all to ourselves but then also we arrived
07:23 to a very interesting place.
07:24 Where?
07:26 It was a place where you can dig for trilobites.
07:29 That's where you found that. That's where I got this.
07:30 Oh, that's cool. So they had this place.
07:32 It's called a quarry,
07:34 where they opened up a hole in the ground,
07:35 and they have a bunch of this shale
07:37 is this type of rock laying around
07:39 and what you have to do
07:41 is you pick up the shale pieces,
07:43 and they give you these tools
07:44 and you kind of break it in half.
07:46 Don't have one for yourself. Yeah.
07:47 And then you split open the shale
07:49 and that is how you find the trilobites.
07:51 Oh. That's awesome.
07:53 How long did it take to find that one?
07:54 Well, here's how what they do there.
07:56 So when we go in there, they charge us to be there.
07:59 But we decided that we're going to stay there
08:01 for two hours.
08:02 Okay.
08:04 And it was four of us that were going to be working.
08:05 So we each had our tools, and we each kind of found
08:07 a spot that we liked in the quarry
08:09 and we were just...
08:10 Oh, was it hard?
08:12 It wasn't too hard because the shale
08:13 actually splits pretty easily
08:14 when you hit it with the right little tool.
08:16 Really?
08:17 And we just opened it up and then we were hoping
08:19 that there would be a little trilobite there.
08:21 And needs them, you break a crack?
08:22 Yeah, they would all break a crack
08:24 and we'd see little trilobites and then we keep the trilobites
08:27 and then we put them in the special bucket.
08:29 You know how many we found in two hours?
08:31 How many? Let me guess, eight?
08:34 No, we found about 100.
08:36 A 100? I can't believe it.
08:38 Yeah, this is just one of them.
08:40 This is one of my favorite ones
08:42 because you can see it pretty good there.
08:43 Yeah, you can.
08:45 Now a lot of people would wonder
08:46 what happened to this poor little trilobite?
08:48 Yeah.
08:49 A trilobite is a fossil of a little creature
08:52 that is now extinct.
08:53 Is it a bug? It's a little marine creature.
08:56 So it lived at the bottom of the ocean
08:58 and for some reason,
09:00 they died because it got buried by water and mud.
09:04 That's sad. Of course, you know what?
09:05 I believe this happened during the flood
09:07 which is mentioned in Genesis.
09:08 That is a good explanation.
09:10 I mean, it does talk about the world being flooded, right?
09:12 Yes. Right.
09:13 The sad part is so many trilobites died
09:15 because even though
09:16 we were only there for two hours,
09:18 we found 100 of them.
09:19 The people that were there working told us,
09:21 there's got to be hundreds of thousands.
09:24 Oh, wow. That's a lot.
09:26 Yeah. Wow.
09:28 And I got to thinking to myself,
09:29 man, you know what?
09:31 That's so sad.
09:32 So many of these little trilobites died.
09:34 And so quickly, too. And so quickly, too.
09:36 And it's just like a giant graveyard of trilobites.
09:40 And I got reminded, you know. Yeah.
09:43 Death isn't part of God's original plan?
09:45 Yeah. It's not.
09:47 This was supposed to live forever.
09:48 Yeah, this was not God's original plan, so.
09:50 Satan and sin introduced it.
09:51 That's right. Yeah.
09:53 So you know what?
09:54 I have a Bible text
09:55 that I think would be great here.
09:57 Would you like me to look it up?
09:58 Please do, Sam. Sure.
10:00 Look up, Romans 6:23.
10:03 I think I remember that verse.
10:05 This will definitely give us a clue
10:06 of what is going on here.
10:08 Oh!
10:09 Go ahead and read it when you find it, 6:23.
10:11 Okay, "For the wages of sin is death.
10:14 But the gift of God is eternal life
10:16 in Christ Jesus, our Lord."
10:18 I remember that verse.
10:20 That is wonderful message. I remember that.
10:21 The interesting thing is that it kind of helps us understand
10:24 why we have death in the first place.
10:26 Yeah. It started because of sin.
10:29 Right. Yeah, sadly.
10:30 Now, you know what?
10:31 That verse really gives us a lot of clue.
10:34 It does.
10:35 I want to write it down right here.
10:36 That was, was it Romans?
10:38 Romans 6:23.
10:41 Yep. Wow. That is awesome.
10:43 Oh, I think I saw a video on your fossil deck
10:45 on the computer.
10:47 That's true, I bet there's one on there.
10:48 Let's go check it out. Oh, I have to see that.
10:51 Oh, I wish I would have went there myself.
10:53 Yeah, that would have been really cool.
10:55 Look at it. Wow.
10:56 Cool. Yeah.
10:58 Look at all the fossil we found.
11:00 That's awesome.
11:01 That's a lot of fossils. Wow.
11:03 And a ton of trilobites. Yes.
11:05 Death is a very, very sad thing.
11:07 No one likes it.
11:09 But we've kind of gotten used to the idea
11:11 and think it's normal.
11:12 For example, people eat meat or wear leather
11:14 without even thinking that something had to die.
11:17 Or on the road, sometimes we see an animal that died
11:20 because it was hit by a car.
11:22 Of course, in our own families, death happens too,
11:25 people die from a disease
11:27 or because they made poor decisions,
11:29 or because they got old.
11:31 We think that's all normal.
11:33 But that wasn't part of God's plan.
11:35 We were originally created by God to live forever.
11:39 But like the Bible says, when we sinned,
11:42 the consequence was that from now on,
11:44 all of God's perfect creations were corrupted and messed up.
11:49 That's why today all around us we see the death,
11:52 the accidents, and the diseases,
11:53 and the old age.
11:55 And we even see people killing other people.
11:57 None of this was how God had planned.
12:00 You probably heard the expression,
12:02 "If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned."
12:06 One thing is the consequence of the other,
12:09 you play with fire,
12:10 the consequence is getting burned.
12:12 It's the same with sin, because we sinned,
12:15 the consequence is death.
12:18 Just as our treasure text reminds us today.
12:21 What makes this verse awesome, though,
12:23 is the second part.
12:25 God has a special gift for us, eternal life.
12:29 That means He wants to recreate us
12:32 to be perfect again
12:34 and when we're perfect again, there will be no more death.
12:39 Now, in order for that to happen, though,
12:41 we have to accept that gift that He's trying to give us.
12:44 A free gift, eternal life.
12:47 I hope you will accept that gift today.
12:49 And the neat part is that it's all right there
12:52 in today's Bible treasure.
12:55 That's good.
12:57 Hey, we should end with a prayer.
12:58 Hey, crew, why don't you come on in?
12:59 Let's pray together.
13:01 Come on guys, come on.
13:02 Hey, who'd like to pray for us? Anybody.
13:05 I'll do it. Awesome.
13:06 Sam will pray. Let's bow our heads.
13:10 Dear Lord, thank You for all of the things
13:12 that You do for us.
13:14 Thank You that we'll be able to spend eternal life
13:16 in heaven with You.
13:17 And please help us to see
13:19 our loved ones in heaven with You.
13:21 In Your Son Jesus name, I do pray.
13:23 Amen. Amen.
13:26 Well, guys, you guys want to hear the answer
13:29 to the brain teaser?
13:30 Yes! All right, cool.
13:32 If you guys remember what it was,
13:34 I'll read it for you again.
13:35 The more you take out of it, a bigger it becomes.
13:40 A box.
13:41 No, it's not a box.
13:43 I think I know.
13:45 What do you think, Isabella? A hole in the ground?
13:46 That's right, a hole in the ground.
13:49 I'm so glad you joined us today for Bible treasures.
13:52 Don't forget to search for treasure.
13:54 Every day!
13:56 See you next time. Come on, guys.
13:58 Let's head out to the dig site.
14:01 I hope we'll find some challenge to accept.
14:03 We always find something new.
