00:01 The experiments you will see
00:02 have been carefully done by professionals,
00:04 and should not be tried at home without parental guidance.
00:06 Please follow the caution signs throughout this program.
00:33 Hey, kids, are you ready
00:34 for some fun and exciting experiments?
00:36 Today, we're going to learn about Jesus,
00:38 our light and the giver of life.
00:41 And I have here Professor Roy, and I have Leah, Aiden,
00:46 Sebastian, and Jasmine joining us today.
00:49 So I think we're learning a little bit about air,
00:53 is that correct?
00:55 That's right, some air.
00:56 Are you using air?
00:57 Yes. Not hot air, right?
00:59 No, not hot air. Okay.
01:00 But air, air is all around us, isn't it?
01:03 You know, we have heavy air and light air.
01:04 Isn't that right?
01:05 Can you think of something that's light air,
01:07 that's light?
01:08 Helium? Helium. Okay.
01:10 What do you think I have in that balloon?
01:11 Helium.
01:12 We have a helium balloon right here.
01:14 But are there other gases
01:15 that will float a balloon like helium?
01:18 Are there?
01:20 Can you think of one?
01:21 We know the number one lightest gas
01:22 is what?
01:24 It's a gas that starts with H and it's hydrogen,
01:26 that's exactly right.
01:27 And hydrogen, as far as we know
01:29 that Jesus created more hydrogen
01:31 than any other element
01:32 as far as we know in the entire universe.
01:34 That's cool, isn't it?
01:36 Well, today, we've got a neat experiment outside.
01:38 And we're actually going to take
01:39 some air that's outside air,
01:42 and we're going to make some lighter than air
01:45 inside of a big container.
01:47 And you're going to help us do that.
01:49 I can't wait.
01:50 Are you ready to see what happens?
01:52 Yes.
01:53 Oh, let's get ready to head out there.
01:56 And again, you want to follow directions.
01:59 So let's head on out.
02:00 Let's walk on off. Let's go.
02:05 Hey, have you ever wanted to fly?
02:06 Yes.
02:08 You know, I used to have dreams about flying.
02:09 I mean, every night.
02:10 It was crazy.
02:12 But I really wanted to fly, but I can't fly.
02:13 Can you fly? No.
02:15 No. Have you flown before?
02:16 Yes. How did you do that?
02:18 In an airplane. In an airplane.
02:19 Have you flown before? Yes.
02:20 How did you fly? In an airplane.
02:22 In an airplane, hmm.
02:23 What about you?
02:25 It's only the airplane too. The airplane, what about you?
02:27 I wish I could go. An airplane and an airplane.
02:30 Well, you know, we need an airplane to fly
02:32 or a helicopter, right?
02:33 Or maybe a hot air balloon,
02:35 you can kind of fly in a hot air balloon.
02:36 But today we're going to fly in something different, okay.
02:39 This is called a UFO.
02:41 What's a UFO?
02:42 An Unidentified Flying Object.
02:44 An Unidentified Flying Object.
02:47 Interesting, isn't it?
02:48 Now, and it happens to be very, very long,
02:50 it's about 60 feet long.
02:52 And that's why you're part of our ground crew.
02:55 Because your job is to keep it from crashing into the ground.
02:59 And we have to fill it up with air.
03:00 If we're going to fly,
03:02 we're going to need air, aren't we?
03:03 Especially if something's going to be
03:04 floating in the air.
03:06 All right, so here's, here's what we got.
03:07 We got this bag right here.
03:09 In fact, this bag is 60 feet long.
03:11 And it's made out of some material,
03:12 you can touch the material
03:14 made out of very, very thin material.
03:16 And if we're not, if we're not careful,
03:17 you can actually put your finger through the bag.
03:20 We don't want our fingers through the bag,
03:22 because that will start to leak, right?
03:24 We're going to fill it up with some air
03:26 and the air that we're going to use
03:28 is, well, see that leaf blower over there.
03:31 We're going to fill it up using the leaf blower
03:34 and then we're going to seal off
03:35 both ends of this big tube
03:37 because it's about this big around
03:39 about two feet in diameter.
03:41 And then we're going to seal both ends up.
03:43 And then we're going to let something happen.
03:46 We're going to let something do what to the air inside.
03:50 What do you think?
03:52 Let go.
03:53 Yeah, well, no, we can't let it go
03:55 because it'll just keep flying away
03:56 and it'll just be.
03:57 You know, we've had them to go
03:59 a couple of thousand feet in the air.
04:00 That's not a good thing. You don't want to do that.
04:01 So we have to keep them on a string.
04:03 What's going to cause this to heat up?
04:05 Well, how are we going to heat up
04:07 the air inside of this thing?
04:08 We have to heat up the air?
04:10 How could we heat it up in here?
04:12 Think about the color.
04:13 I'm thinking the color I can use up there.
04:15 What can we use to heat up air inside of this?
04:16 Heat.
04:18 Heat, yes, or what's our source of heat?
04:20 The sun.
04:22 The sun, that's right.
04:23 We're going to use solar energy
04:24 in order to heat up the air in here.
04:26 That will be cool, won't it? I think so.
04:28 All right, so here's what we got.
04:29 All right, so in fact, I think we have
04:31 some more helpers for our crew.
04:33 And we're going to get this all lined up over here.
04:37 All right, let's see what we got right here.
04:38 All right. So come over here.
04:41 All right, let's go over.
04:42 And then remember, we need to spread out.
04:44 Here we go, here.
04:45 I want you to take that right there
04:47 and I want you to walk that direction right there.
04:49 We're going to walk right over there by the camera.
04:51 We're going to walk that way.
04:53 Okay, okay, and we need, okay, keep going, keep going,
04:56 keep going, keep going.
04:57 All right.
04:59 Then we're going to have to get space out a little bit
05:00 because we want people to keep this off of the ground,
05:03 you're going to have to keep going,
05:05 you're going to have to keep moving,
05:06 you're going to have to keep going, okay.
05:09 Just keep the string like that.
05:10 Don't let any more string out.
05:12 But I want you to walk. I want you to walk that way.
05:14 I want you to walk that way.
05:15 Now help me to keep this off of the ground.
05:17 Okay, keep going.
05:19 Keep going. Keep going. Keep going.
05:21 Keep going, and we're gonna spread out.
05:23 We're gonna spread out because we don't want it to hit
05:26 the ground, okay?
05:28 Spread out, spread out, spread out.
05:30 Keep going, keep going, keep going.
05:34 This way, right away you need to move this way.
05:36 Here we go.
05:38 Here we go, here we go.
05:39 Amanda, come out of the loop.
05:40 Come down the pipe this way.
05:42 Okay. All right.
05:43 Don't pull on it, don't pull on it.
05:44 You got it? Okay.
05:46 All right. All right, here we go.
05:47 All right, cool. All right.
05:48 Now, what we have to do now is we're going to fill this up
05:50 with some air, okay?
05:51 So that's what we're going to do.
05:53 So we've got our leaf blower,
05:54 and we're going to fill this up with some air.
05:56 Here, can you help me?
05:58 Can you help me up here? Okay, here we go.
05:59 Can you help me also?
06:01 Can you get on this other side and you hold this?
06:02 What we want to do is want to hold it
06:04 open like this with two hands.
06:05 Can you hold it open with two hands?
06:07 All right, here we go.
06:09 All right, we got our little leaf blower.
06:10 We're going to start to fill this up with some air.
06:13 And we're going to try to make this
06:14 as straight as possible right here.
06:16 Can we get it straight?
06:18 No, no, no, you stay where you're at,
06:19 you stay where you're at,
06:21 and I'm going to direct the air.
06:31 And you gonna have to let me know
06:32 when it's quite full there.
06:36 Okay, I'm getting it. Okay.
06:38 Hold it, hold it close to that.
06:39 Hang on to it. Okay.
06:41 Okay. All right. Okay.
06:43 Close it up, close it up right there.
06:44 There we go. We're gonna close this up.
06:46 Okay, here we go. Try to keep it off the ground.
06:50 Okay, move this way, so we take it off the ground.
06:53 We got a little bit of wind going over here.
06:56 Okay. See, what we've got.
06:59 Oh, we got to attach. How are we doing here?
07:00 Now hold on.
07:02 Oh, do I already have a hole in it?
07:03 A little bit.
07:06 We have a big hole?
07:08 Oh, my.
07:09 Okay, so we got a big hole in it.
07:11 Okay, so...
07:12 Don't hold on to it like that though.
07:14 You got to just hold it up.
07:15 So just you're touching the bottom.
07:18 Okay, how are we doing?
07:21 Are there no holes now?
07:22 Uh, no. Okay, all right.
07:25 So what I'm going to do is I'm going to go ahead,
07:26 I'm going to tie my end off right here.
07:29 Here we go.
07:30 And let's see, we're going to need
07:32 the scissors down here, okay.
07:33 And let's see what we got.
07:34 I'm going to pull this through here.
07:36 We still need you to hold this so it doesn't fly away.
07:38 Hold on to it.
07:40 Okay, all right. There we go.
07:43 If you'll just hold that, hold this for me.
07:44 Okay.
07:45 What I'm going to do is I'm going to go ahead
07:47 and I'm going to tie this because we've got to have,
07:49 we have to tie it so it doesn't fly away.
07:52 That would be bad news if it flew away.
07:53 No, we don't want that to fly away.
07:55 No, we don't.
07:56 Okay, and what it's doing right now
07:58 it's absorbing a lot of heat energy
08:00 from the sun, right?
08:02 And pretty soon if you just cut it right there.
08:05 Cool. There we go. Right. There we go.
08:08 We got it, just like that.
08:09 Let's see what we got.
08:11 Okay, now, if that wants to go up,
08:13 then we're just going to let it go up.
08:14 Why don't you come over here and help?
08:16 No, you, yes, come on over here and help me.
08:17 Okay, there you go.
08:18 You hang on to that for us. All right.
08:20 We're just going to see if it's going to fly?
08:22 No, don't grab it.
08:23 We're going to try to keep it up if we can.
08:27 Okay, we're going to try to keep it up.
08:29 If it's going to go, if it tries to come down,
08:31 you can try to keep it up.
08:33 I definitely try to go that way.
08:36 Oh, wait, somebody let go of the string.
08:38 Okay, grab the string down there,
08:40 but let some more string out.
08:43 Get more string out. All right.
08:45 Now you can.
08:46 Okay, we're trying to heat up that air,
08:48 that solar energy is heating up the air inside
08:52 just keep it off of the ground.
08:54 Don't push it, okay.
08:55 If it wants to fly, let it fly.
08:58 Okay, just keep letting it off.
08:59 There we go. Keep letting it off.
09:01 There we go.
09:03 Okay, it's flying pretty good right now.
09:05 Keep going. Keep letting some off.
09:06 Keep letting it some off.
09:08 Just keep it from, there you go,
09:09 keep it off the ground.
09:11 Okay, yeah, you can let
09:12 some more string out down there, okay.
09:15 Letting it go. Watch out, watch out.
09:17 How are we doing?
09:18 Are we doing good?
09:20 Is it flying? Yeah.
09:22 Okay, it's flying.
09:24 And it should go up a little bit higher right here.
09:27 Okay. So the sunlight is doing what?
09:30 It's heating up the air inside.
09:32 And what happens when we heat air up?
09:34 When we heat air up, what does it do?
09:36 It goes up.
09:37 It starts the molecules of air
09:38 move faster and faster and faster,
09:40 and that the molecules actually take up more space.
09:44 And so the bag is getting larger
09:46 because of that expanding air.
09:48 And then the air around it is heavier
09:51 than the air inside of the bag.
09:53 So it wants to fly.
09:54 Now we do have hot air balloons
09:56 but we have to put hot air in them
09:57 from a furnace or a fire
09:59 but here we're using sunlight, sun energy to heat it up.
10:03 You can go, everybody walk this way.
10:05 Come this way.
10:06 No, not yet. We might break the string.
10:09 Might be too much tension.
10:12 And this will even work in the wintertime,
10:14 isn't that interesting?
10:15 It'll work in the wintertime because in wintertime,
10:17 you have what?
10:18 We still have sunlight.
10:20 And that's what we need.
10:21 Why do you suppose that this big tube,
10:24 this big solar bag is so black in color or dark in color?
10:29 As black absorbs more heat.
10:30 That's right, black absorbs more heat.
10:32 If it was white, you think it would do that?
10:35 No. No, it wouldn't.
10:36 Hey, look at that.
10:38 Man, look, it's almost straight up and down.
10:40 How cool is that?
10:41 That's amazing. That is amazing.
10:44 So color makes
10:46 a lot of difference, doesn't it?
10:47 It does.
10:49 That's right, if you had a dark colored car,
10:51 or a white colored car which would be hotter?
10:53 The black.
10:55 The dark one because it would absorb
10:56 that heat energy, that is interesting.
10:59 And it wants to fly away, look at there.
11:01 Yeah, just keep it off the ground.
11:02 There we go. Keep it up, keep it up.
11:04 We got some wind
11:05 and so that complicates things just a little bit.
11:08 But it's flying away from us. That is so cool.
11:11 How cool is that?
11:12 Thank you, Jesus, that is so amazing.
11:16 Aren't you thankful that Jesus provides all the sunlight?
11:20 Yes.
11:21 How many of you are thankful
11:22 that Jesus is providing all the sunlight for us?
11:25 Because in the Bible,
11:26 it talks about Jesus being the light, right?
11:28 Yeah. Yeah.
11:29 Jesus is our light.
11:31 That is awesome.
11:34 I can't wait. Can you think of another...
11:36 Oops, oops, oops, oops.
11:38 How about Jesus being the light?
11:41 How many of you are scared of the darkness?
11:45 Are you scared of the darkness?
11:46 No, because who's our light?
11:48 Jesus. Jesus, yay!
11:51 That is awesome. Thank you, Jesus.
11:54 Let's wrap it up.
11:56 That was so much fun.
11:58 Didn't you enjoy that? Yeah.
11:59 I'm glad to be coming in in the air conditioning.
12:01 That was pretty hot, wasn't it?
12:03 Yeah.
12:04 That was amazing about the different kinds
12:06 of how the air was moving in it.
12:09 You were having a lot of fun holding it up, weren't you?
12:12 Reminds me of Jesus talking about
12:15 the light of the world.
12:17 I think, Sebastian, can you grab that Bible for me?
12:21 And I think it was, and let's see John 8:12,
12:26 I think it was John 8:12.
12:27 Let's, can you read that for us please?
12:30 "Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying,
12:33 'I am the light of the world.
12:34 He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness,
12:37 but have the light of life."
12:39 The light of life.
12:40 That reminds me that,
12:41 yes, Jesus is the light of the world.
12:43 And remember how the bag was dark, right?
12:48 What was happening with the bag that was black?
12:51 It was absorbing sun.
12:53 It was rising.
12:54 Do you think it would have worked it
12:56 as well if it was clear?
12:57 No. Why not?
12:59 Because it wouldn't absorb the sun.
13:00 It wouldn't absorb the sun.
13:02 And who do we want to reflect?
13:03 Jesus.
13:05 We want to reflect Jesus and His light
13:07 because He is the source of light,
13:08 just like the sun was the source of light, right?
13:12 Yes. I think so.
13:13 He was the source of light.
13:15 And yet, all of that we want to be
13:17 like Jesus and have that source of light.
13:19 And I am so thankful because without the sun,
13:22 would anything grow?
13:23 No.
13:24 Would we be able to live on this earth?
13:26 No.
13:27 No, we need the sun, the sunlight.
13:29 But most of all, who do we need for our breath?
13:32 God. Jesus.
13:34 Jesus is our Savior.
13:35 And don't we want to ask Him all the time daily
13:38 to have Him in our hearts all the time?
13:40 Don't you agree?
13:41 Is there anything else that you wanted to say?
13:43 Absolutely.
13:44 Well, you know, Jesus created
13:46 all that just for us, didn't He?
13:47 He did.
13:48 All that air, that atmosphere...
13:50 Me being able to take a big breath.
13:51 Can you take a big breath for every...
13:54 Yeah.
13:55 Can we blow that balloon, let's try.
13:57 One, two, three.
13:59 Woah! Woah!
14:00 It might take away
14:02 and I am so thankful
14:03 that Jesus is always the light.
14:05 We can see God's creation all around us
14:08 because creation is...
14:11 Science.
