00:01 The experiments you will see
00:02 have been carefully done by professionals,
00:04 and should not be tried at home without parental guidance.
00:06 Please follow the caution signs throughout this program.
00:32 Hey, kids.
00:33 Thanks for joining us today for Creation is Science,
00:37 where we learn about God through awesome science
00:39 and experiments.
00:41 Today, we have Professor Roy with us.
00:43 Good to be here. I'm glad you're here.
00:45 And we have some other young people with us today.
00:47 I've got Ethan, Hannah, Amanda, and Nathan.
00:51 We're glad you're here too
00:52 Well, nice to meet your kids.
00:54 Thanks for coming.
00:55 I think we have something, talking about pressure today.
00:58 Is that right? Oh, yeah. Yes.
01:00 Hey, have you ever been under pressure?
01:03 Yes.
01:04 Yeah, can you share something that,
01:07 about being under pressure
01:09 where something bothered you maybe,
01:12 or any stories about that?
01:14 Yeah.
01:16 Sometimes if you would go inside of water,
01:19 that's super-duper deep, and it could also crush you,
01:23 which is very bad pressure.
01:25 Yeah. Water pressure, right?
01:27 Yeah. That's interesting, isn't it?
01:28 Wow.
01:29 Well, you know what I want you to do.
01:31 Let's see.
01:32 Ethan, can you go get our balloon
01:34 nail bed over there, okay?
01:36 We got an experiment
01:37 and it's all about pressure, okay?
01:38 All about pressure.
01:40 Now, what is pressure?
01:42 You know, pressure is force over an area.
01:45 That's what pressure is. Thank you very much.
01:47 Let's check this out.
01:49 Let's see. Whoa, now that's interesting.
01:51 And you know what?
01:52 I think we're going to need some balloons.
01:55 So you want to get our balloons for me?
01:58 Amanda, go ahead.
02:01 Go get them.
02:05 Okay, here we go. Just set them down over here.
02:07 Now, this is interesting, but first of all,
02:09 you know what we're going to do?
02:10 We're going to talk about allergies.
02:13 Anybody have an allergy?
02:14 No. You do have an allergy?
02:17 Like you're allergic to, what are you allergic to?
02:19 I'm not allergic to anything.
02:20 Yes. What are you allergic to?
02:22 Cats and dogs. Cats and dogs.
02:25 I'm sorry that you're allergic to cats and dogs.
02:27 They're fun, aren't they? What are you allergic to?
02:30 Cats and nuts. Cats and nuts. Okay.
02:33 So you have to be careful right around cats
02:35 and dogs and nuts too.
02:37 That can be very dangerous.
02:38 Let's see what we have right here.
02:40 I've got this little platform, but I also have a nail.
02:43 Okay.
02:44 Now, you know, what's interesting.
02:46 Nails are sharp, aren't they?
02:47 And this is real. Is that a real nail?
02:49 I mean, does it look like a real nail?
02:51 Does it feel like a real nail? Yes.
02:53 Yes, it's a real nail. It's a real nail.
02:55 So what I'm going to do is I've got,
02:57 I have a little balloon right here.
02:58 What I'm going to do is I'm going to blow up a balloon.
03:00 I'm going to show you something about being allergic.
03:03 Okay. So I'm going to blow this up.
03:04 Are you ready? Okay.
03:06 Let's blow up the balloon.
03:11 Whoa. Now that makes a lot of noise.
03:12 What in the world? Yeah.
03:14 Well that's a squeaky balloon, wasn't it?
03:16 Yeah.
03:17 We're going to have some popping sound.
03:19 I don't know where we got these squeaky balloons.
03:22 Let's see what I've got now, you know,
03:23 since we're using balloons
03:24 and we're using something that sharp,
03:26 I think I'm going to put my safety glasses on.
03:28 Yep.
03:29 Let's all grab our safety glasses.
03:30 Good idea.
03:35 We don't want pieces of balloon flying in your eye, do we?
03:37 No. No. Okay.
03:39 So what I have right here is I've got a nail.
03:41 Now did you know, I know some of you probably
03:43 didn't realize this, but you know that
03:44 balloons are allergic to nails?
03:46 Did you know that? No. That's right.
03:48 In fact, if a balloon gets too close to a nail,
03:51 it breaks out, you know, some people,
03:53 when they're allergic, they have an allergic reaction,
03:56 they'll break out, right?
03:57 Let's check this out.
03:59 You think this will break if it gets too close?
04:00 Yes. Let's check it out.
04:02 And it does and it broke. Now, that's interesting.
04:06 And you know what that nail reminds me of something.
04:09 That nail reminds me that
04:11 when you and I are under pressure,
04:13 you know, when things go wrong and things go bad
04:16 and you feel all anxious inside
04:19 and you might even have a little anger, you know what?
04:21 That can hurt you, can't it? Yes.
04:23 So this little nail right here, you know,
04:25 I don't think I'd want to step on that nail.
04:27 Would you like to step on it? No.
04:28 I wouldn't want to step on the nail,
04:30 but you know what we're going to do?
04:31 I'm going to take another one of our balloons.
04:34 Okay. I'm going to blow it up.
04:36 Why are you holding your ears?
04:39 So it doesn't make a squeaky noise.
04:41 A squeaky noise. Okay.
04:45 And it did, it made that squeaky noise again.
04:48 I don't know.
04:49 I'm going to go ahead and tie this balloon right here,
04:51 but you know what we're going to do?
04:53 We're going to let this, these nails right here.
04:55 In fact, I've got a lot of nails right here.
04:58 Feel those, are they real nails?
05:00 Oh, yeah. They're real nails.
05:02 And there happens to be 300 of them.
05:05 Three hundred. Yes, 300 of them.
05:07 And I drilled holes and I put these nails in there,
05:10 but you know,
05:11 this nail represents a problem, right?
05:14 Something that could hurt us,
05:16 but you know what you and I should do?
05:18 You and I should try to be
05:20 a help to people that are going through
05:23 a lot of things that could be pressure
05:25 in their lives, right?
05:26 Yeah, we need to be what?
05:28 Encouraging, right?
05:29 We need to stand beside them
05:31 and give them a lot of friendships.
05:34 So I'm going to put this down right here.
05:36 I'm going to put it right on the 300 nails.
05:39 I'm going to put this on the top right there.
05:41 Let's see what we can do right here.
05:43 Let's see, hey, why don't you come on over here,
05:44 come on, yeah, you come over here.
05:47 I want you to take your hand
05:48 and I want you to push down on it.
05:49 Can you push down with your hand?
05:51 Just push down. What's going to happen?
05:52 Are you going to get ready if the balloon is going to pop?
05:55 Are they going to pop? Are you pushing?
05:57 She's pushing down, is the balloon popping?
06:00 Is it breaking? No.
06:02 It's not popping or breaking.
06:03 Now, is that surprising? Yes.
06:06 Now can you tell me why?
06:08 Why isn't or why didn't that balloon pop
06:11 and we had it over those sharp nails?
06:13 What do you think?
06:16 I know why. More of them.
06:19 Because there was a lot of them, right?
06:20 Yes. That's right.
06:22 Remember what we said at the beginning?
06:23 Yes. Go ahead.
06:24 Because there wasn't enough pressure on it.
06:26 Okay. That's right.
06:28 We said that pressure is force over what?
06:30 An area. So we put the pressure.
06:33 You're putting pressure down on here.
06:35 And was that pressure going over
06:36 just one balloon, one nail.
06:39 No, because if it did what would happen?
06:41 It would what? It would pop.
06:43 It would pop.
06:47 It's not popping. It's not popping.
06:50 I wonder what happened to this balloon.
06:52 You know why it's not popping? It's too big.
06:54 I spread the balloon out over the table too.
06:57 Isn't that interesting?
06:58 Hey, but you know, that's interesting.
07:00 And we should help people
07:02 that are going through a lot of pressure.
07:04 Just like those little nails,
07:06 you and I can be a nail to help them
07:08 to get all of that pressure off of them.
07:10 Hey, let's do something else that's really fun about this.
07:13 You see all those eggs down there?
07:15 Yes. All right, that's interesting.
07:17 Would you like to step on,
07:18 what would happen if you stepped on that one egg?
07:21 It would break. Right, the egg would break.
07:24 But what do you think might happen
07:25 if you stepped on a bunch of them?
07:27 What do you think? It would crack them.
07:30 Hey, well, I don't know. Let's try it.
07:32 Hannah, are you ready to try? Yes.
07:33 Well, come on over here.
07:36 Let's see if Hannah can stand on the eggs.
07:39 Okay.
07:40 But, what we're going to do is we're going to help her.
07:42 We're going to lift her
07:43 so she can get right on top of the eggs
07:46 and let's just see if her body weight
07:50 will just be right about like that.
07:53 Okay. Now just don't move.
07:54 No, no. Don't move yet.
07:56 Don't move. Just keep your feet there.
07:57 Okay.
07:58 And we're going to let go of her.
08:02 Okay. Wait, wait, don't step yet.
08:06 Are the eggs breaking? No.
08:08 No, they're not breaking
08:09 because we've got her weight on all of those eggs.
08:13 Now, if she can walk flat-footed enough.
08:16 We're going to see if she can walk
08:18 from one to the other.
08:20 Are you ready? And I'll hold your hand.
08:23 Okay, go ahead. Take a nice step.
08:27 Here we go. And another step, there we go.
08:31 Keep going. Another step.
08:33 She crushed one. Careful.
08:36 And keep going and step all the way off.
08:38 She is just crushing one. And she only broke one egg.
08:43 How cool is that?
08:45 Anybody else want to try? I want to try.
08:47 Well, come on here. All right, come on Ethan.
08:49 Okay. Here we go.
08:50 All right. Let's get him lifted up.
08:52 Lift him up. There we go.
08:53 And step right on it, there we go.
08:56 Nice and easy.
08:59 Are the eggs breaking?
09:01 No, they're not breaking it.
09:03 Okay. Take a step.
09:05 I got you.
09:07 And another step and another step
09:10 and another step.
09:13 How about that? That's interesting.
09:16 Who's next? Nathan, you want to try?
09:18 Okay. Let's go.
09:20 Let's lift him up. Are you ready?
09:21 All right, let's get him up. Flatfooted.
09:24 Right on top of the eggs.
09:25 Put your feet right on the top of the eggs.
09:26 Right in the middle, put your left foot
09:28 in the middle.
09:29 Here we go. There we go.
09:30 Are the eggs broken?
09:32 No broken eggs yet All right, here we go.
09:34 Take a step. That's right.
09:37 Easy does it.
09:38 Keep in the middle. Keep going.
09:40 Nice and careful. Easy does it.
09:44 Absolutely. All right, ready?
09:45 We got one more. Are we ready?
09:47 All right. I'll lift her.
09:50 Here we go. Are the eggs breaking?
09:53 No! Yay!
09:55 I'll let her away. We're on a lot of those eggs.
09:57 Well, I got you. Right, here we go.
10:00 Take a nice step.
10:02 Here we go.
10:04 Take a nice step.
10:06 Keep going. You're doing good.
10:08 Keep going.
10:14 Cool. Now, that was interesting.
10:16 Was that interesting? Wait a minute, I want to try.
10:18 Okay. No.
10:20 You think I can do it? Yes.
10:22 No. You're too heavy.
10:24 I think I'm too heavy too.
10:27 We'll all support her.
10:29 Shall I try? Well, sure.
10:31 Yes.
10:32 I'm going to leave my shoes here.
10:33 Let's see what happens. You have to try.
10:35 I don't know how we're going to lift you up though.
10:36 I'm going to have to. Yeah, I don't know.
10:39 Okay. I got to lean on somebody.
10:41 All right, I'm going to lean. All right, you can lean.
10:47 All right. She did break one egg.
10:49 All right. Are they breaking?
10:51 Oh, they're breaking. The eggs aren't breaking.
10:53 I'm hearing cracking sounds.
10:54 Oh, I'm nervous.
10:56 Okay, you got to take a step.
10:58 Yeah, keep going there.
11:00 I'm standing right.
11:01 You doing good. Keep going.
11:03 You cracked one.
11:05 Keep going.
11:12 Not too bad.
11:13 Not too bad at all.
11:14 Now, that's interesting, isn't it?
11:16 That was interesting. Hey, come back around.
11:19 Let's talk about this.
11:21 Now, that was an interesting experiment.
11:23 Was that an interesting experiment?
11:24 Yeah! I like it.
11:26 Now, let me ask you a question.
11:27 You know, it was what? Pressure is force over an area.
11:30 So we put your body weight
11:31 over a lot of eggs and the eggs didn't crack.
11:34 Well, we got one to crack actually, didn't we?
11:36 We actually got two to crack. I didn't get crack.
11:39 I didn't crack any. I know.
11:40 And that was great, wasn't it? Interesting, wasn't that?
11:43 But you know, you and I, we can do what?
11:44 We can be a person
11:46 that's going to support somebody
11:48 that's going through a what?
11:50 Going through some pressure in their lives or a problem.
11:52 And that's what we're supposed to do, isn't it?
11:54 Yes. I think so.
11:56 But you know we talk about the pressure.
11:58 You know, what would happen if,
11:59 you know, Jesus created everything,
12:01 didn't He?
12:02 He created everything that lives
12:03 and that we can see and hear and tell about.
12:07 But you know, what would happen
12:09 if an elephant had feet like a deer,
12:12 what would happen to the elephant?
12:13 His legs would break because he is too heavy Legs
12:15 would probably break, wouldn't it?
12:16 They would sink down into the ground.
12:18 So even the animals have what?
12:20 They have feet so that they can survive
12:23 because of what they look like and what their weight is.
12:26 That's pretty cool, isn't it?
12:27 Wow. What do you think about that?
12:29 That's amazing.
12:31 It's really quite amazing, isn't it?
12:34 Wow. So force is what?
12:35 Pressure is force over an area.
12:37 That's interesting.
12:38 That's why we didn't just stand on one egg.
12:40 What would happen to it? It would break.
12:41 It would have cracked though.
12:43 And I hear the shape of the egg
12:44 has something to do with it
12:45 because on the sides it's weaker
12:47 and on the points, it's not,
12:48 it's stronger and that's maybe
12:50 has something to do with it too.
12:51 That's kind of interesting, isn't it?
12:53 Yeah.
12:54 That's one of the strongest structures of nature
12:55 is something that's round, isn't it?
12:57 Just like your head, very, very strong, isn't it?
12:59 Or like a tree trunk. Tree trunk is round.
13:01 It's not square.
13:02 That would be very weak, wouldn't it?
13:03 That's interesting.
13:05 Nathan, could you grab the Bible for me?
13:07 I think there's a text that it reminds me of a Bible text
13:11 and I think it's in Psalms 55:22.
13:14 Can you help me find that?
13:16 Let's see if we can find it.
13:19 Nope. We went past it.
13:21 There we go. Okay.
13:23 Psalms 55:22, right here.
13:25 Can you help me read it nice and loud?
13:26 Yes.
13:28 "Cast your burden on the Lord, He shall sustain you,
13:32 He shall never permit the righteous to be moved."
13:36 So who's going to sustain us? God.
13:39 Even if man fails,
13:41 God is always there to sustain us, right?
13:43 And we can always depend on Him
13:45 and hopefully you have good parents
13:46 and your friends, like we talked about,
13:48 like there are several eggs and distributing the weight.
13:51 We need to find support like that, don't you think?
13:53 Yes. I agree.
13:55 How many of you want to have Jesus
13:56 and living in our hearts?
13:58 I do. Absolutely.
13:59 And when we are feeling stressed out
14:02 and worried about things, we need to depend on God.
14:04 We can see God's creation around us
14:07 because creation is science.
