00:08 From Arcadia, California, the Carter report presents
00:11 "The living word around the world."
00:18 When God looks down and sees you here tonight,
00:21 he says, "I love you."
00:25 You may say, nobody, nobody loves me.
00:27 A little girl said once at a party.
00:30 She said, "nobody don't ever love me."
00:32 I'm here to tell you tonight God loves you, I love you.
00:38 God loves you.
00:40 You may feel a million miles from God tonight.
00:43 I want you to know tonight that God is here
00:47 by the presence of the Holy Spirit tonight.
00:50 He's here tonight and the message
00:52 of the blood of God is I love you.
00:59 The topic today is
01:01 "I have seen with these eyes a new Pentecost."
01:07 I read--I meet lots and lots of people in the church who say,
01:11 one day we're going to have the latter rain.
01:15 One day we're going to have Pentecost.
01:17 I want to tell you I have seen the latter rain
01:22 and I have seen a new Pentecost.
01:25 By the grace of God in Papua New Guinea--
01:30 I want to say this to the people up there in the mountains,
01:33 outside of PNG, you who are watching this telecast,
01:38 because you get a clear signal up there in the mountains.
01:42 I want to say to you,
01:43 what a privilege it is to know you.
01:46 What a privilege it was to go to your village and to meet you.
01:50 I want to say to all the people in Papua New Guinea
01:53 who are watching the telecast,
01:55 what a tremendous time we had together in Port Moresby
02:00 with more than 100,000 souls a night.
02:06 And on the last night well over 120,000, probably 130,000 plus
02:12 souls a night who came out to hear the word of God.
02:17 Did you know this?
02:19 This is the largest crowd in the history of our church
02:24 at least in the English speaking world.
02:30 Who are these people attending the Carter Report
02:33 at the Sir John Guise Stadium, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea?
02:36 Well, they come from all walks of life.
02:39 In this great congregation of more than 100,000,
02:42 we find doctors, lawyers, politicians, ambassadors,
02:46 carpenters, students, teachers, believers, and unbelievers.
02:50 There are husbands and wives with their families.
02:53 There are the rich and the poor. The powerful and the weak.
02:57 They are being told that
02:59 Christ alone is the way, the truth and the life.
03:03 They are hearing the words of life
03:04 and their hearts are being strangely warmed.
03:07 Sometimes they feel that their hearts will burst
03:10 and they feel compelled to hurry down to the front
03:13 to publicly confess the Savior.
03:15 They are shown in the scriptures that God commands men
03:18 everywhere to repent and be baptized.
03:22 They respond with a Holy devotion
03:24 and a passionate intensity.
03:26 Will you not join them?
03:31 I want you to take your Bibles and turn to
03:33 the Prophet Joel Chapter 2, that's in the Old Testament.
03:39 "And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
03:43 Your sons and your daughters will prophesy."
03:48 Now ladies here are going to get the baptism of the Holy Sprit
03:53 the same as the men because there are no
03:55 second class citizens in the kingdom of God.
03:58 You hear that, ladies?
04:01 Your sons and your daughters will prophesy,
04:05 your old men will dream dreams,
04:07 your young men will see visions."
04:09 I don't know what category I'm in there.
04:13 "I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth,
04:16 blood and fire and billows of smoke.
04:19 The sun will be turned to darkness
04:22 and the moon to blood before the coming
04:25 of the great and dreadful day of the Lord."
04:27 And look at me, the Bible says in the last days
04:30 the Holy Spirit is going to be poured out upon God's people.
04:35 Let me ask you something and I want you to come alive.
04:38 Do you believe we are living in the last days? Yes.
04:43 If we are living in the last days then we should expect
04:46 the fulfillment of this prophesy.
04:49 Now I'm going to ask Beverly to come up now.
04:52 And she is an eyewitness of what God did.
04:57 And I want to say this as Beverly comes. Listen to me.
05:02 I'm overwhelmingly convinced
05:04 that in a campaign like this we give glory to God.
05:08 People never did this. This was the work of God.
05:12 So I want to say glory be to the Father
05:15 and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
05:18 and let the glory of man be laid in the dust, amen.
05:24 Papua New Guinea is not one of the most well-known
05:27 nations in the world, so I want to give you
05:28 just a quick little background.
05:31 It's-- Now someone said,
05:33 "Did you just come back from Africa?"
05:35 Because there is a nation called Guinea
05:37 on the west coast of Africa, but we didn't go there.
05:40 Instead we went to Australia and then north to Australia.
05:44 And as you can see, Cape York
05:48 at the top of Australia there.
05:50 It's very close to Papua New Guinea,
05:53 which most people call PNG
05:55 and that's what I'm going to call it.
05:56 Now the western side is run by the Indonesian government.
06:03 And the right-hand side was run by the Australian government
06:07 until PNG received full independence back in 1975.
06:12 Let's quickly come to 2012. What did I see?
06:17 Well, from my vantage point as manager on the stage,
06:22 I saw the thousands and thousands of people
06:25 coming in night by night filling up the stadium.
06:28 Now where did they come from?
06:31 Well, most of them came from Port Moresby itself,
06:34 of course, and the surrounding area,
06:37 but thousands came from other places.
06:40 Now the middle of PNG is very mountainous with lush jungle.
06:45 And the highest mountain there is nearly 15,000 feet.
06:49 And there are no significant cross country roads
06:52 to come down to the capital Port Moresby.
06:55 So how did they get there?
06:57 Here along the coast you will see
06:59 that they came down by boat.
07:01 Some came by planes, those that had airports.
07:04 People came from Goroka, Mount Hagen, Madang, Wewak,
07:08 Lae and then some even came from New Ireland over here.
07:13 And then Bougainville and also Rabaul, New Britain.
07:16 So they came from all over.
07:18 And the amazing thing was that they stopped,
07:21 they stayed there for the whole two weeks.
07:25 Now what did I see?
07:26 I saw a wonderful desire to hear God's word, a determination.
07:34 Now on the third night, Pastor John Kosmeier,
07:36 former Australian Missionary that worked in PNG,
07:41 invited me to go through the crowd
07:43 after the meeting had started.
07:44 Now the lights were dim
07:46 because of the pictures on the screen.
07:48 And we had to pick our way up through the crowd.
07:50 Now perhaps I should just back up a little.
07:53 The bleaches around the stadium, they were packed.
07:56 So the majority of the people were sitting on the ground
07:59 in the arena itself on blankets and mats.
08:02 And the ushers had tried to keep path--
08:05 pass through the arena, but it was impossible.
08:09 But we did pick our way up through the crowd
08:11 trying not to step on people or to trip over people.
08:15 And that was so gracious to let us through.
08:18 We had a policemen accompany us.
08:20 And we walked to the back and then we were going to go
08:23 down the other side, but then when we got
08:25 to the back, we discovered that
08:26 we couldn't get down the other side
08:28 because they were packed so closely together.
08:30 And so we back track down the same way as we had gone up.
08:35 Now I've seen many crowds
08:38 over our 50 years of evangelism, but this was the largest.
08:42 It had taken us or it took us
08:45 longer than 10 minutes to walk up and back.
08:48 What did I see?
08:50 Once again, thousands of people
08:52 with a hunger to hear God's word.
08:55 Now most of the people we interviewed
08:57 were hearing Bible teachings for the first time.
09:00 And I think their feelings could be summed up
09:02 based on the words of young man who wrote
09:05 "I'm excited to learn about God and the Bible.
09:09 It's helped me to meet Jesus for the first time
09:12 and it's helping me to deal with
09:14 some of the hard things I'm facing."
09:17 What did I see on the last Sabbath morning there?
09:20 I saw a tremendous baptism with nearly 3,000 souls baptized.
09:25 And I also saw once again
09:27 the great truth of Hebrews 4 that says,
09:29 "God's word is living and it's powerful enough
09:33 to change the lives of people."
09:36 And all I can say is thank you, Lord, and halleluiah. Amen.
09:45 You'll be interesting in knowing that
09:49 in most evangelistic campaigns,
09:51 most of the people are church members.
09:54 You know that. And you have some visitors.
09:57 There most of the people were visitors
10:00 with some church members.
10:03 I think it's true to say that
10:04 this is one of the largest secular crowds
10:07 ever to attend evangelistic meetings
10:11 anywhere at anytime in the world.
10:15 Now two very valuable and beloved
10:18 church members of this church here
10:21 and team members Javier and Susan Piraino,
10:24 please welcome them today.
10:33 How are you my friends? Very well, thank you.
10:35 How are you? Thank you.
10:38 I want you all to know that I'm here today
10:41 one--is the number of reasons, of course,
10:44 but Javier fed me because he was the chef.
10:47 So welcome, Javier.
10:50 And a great chef, folks, really good.
10:54 Lots of Pour-Pour and other good foods.
10:56 Now, Suzy, what were your impressions?
10:59 Well, you know, Pastor Carter,
11:01 we've been on many campaigns with you,
11:02 but I believe that this was the most significant
11:06 and the most inspiring for me personally.
11:09 To be able to witness the crowds coming night after night,
11:12 one of my responsibilities was to take photographs.
11:15 So I was able to climb the towers
11:18 and climb the speaker towers
11:19 and I tried to climb wherever I could
11:21 to get the best vantage point and to get the best pictures.
11:24 And when we started, we started with about 70,000, I thought.
11:28 This is incredible. Yeah.
11:30 But as we continue to go night after night,
11:32 it just continued to grow and I thought,
11:34 "Wow, how much more--how many
11:36 more people could actually come."
11:37 But as--as we know they say that
11:39 we could have at least 140,000, so that almost doubles
11:43 in the two weeks that we were there.
11:45 But just being able to witness the people,
11:47 the excitement, the love that they had,
11:50 they were listening so intently night after night.
11:53 And to see all the types of people that were coming
11:56 because there wasn't just people from the low lands.
11:59 We had university students. We had ambassadors coming.
12:02 We had ministers of government coming.
12:05 So as you can see the word of God
12:07 was inspiring all sorts of people to come.
12:10 And I just got an email yesterday from Rachel,
12:13 who was-- she supported us,
12:15 she gave us cars to drive around in
12:17 and her son Wellington was a student at the PNG
12:22 or one of the universities there.
12:24 And she was so grateful because he is a law student,
12:28 fourth year in law and he just was baptized
12:30 during the campaign and his sister.
12:33 And so she is asking how soon can they get the DVD series?
12:36 Because they want to share it with so many other people
12:38 that still want to know
12:40 what you preached and what you taught.
12:42 So this was just amazing to be
12:44 part of and I thank you for that.
12:46 Susan, Glory to be the God and thank you.
12:47 Now, Javier, from your heart my old friend.
12:51 Well, as you know, Pastor Carter,
12:53 you came back well and safe
12:58 with all the food that we cooked there.
13:00 All the food was provided by the university very much.
13:04 And the biggest miracle to me that is in my mind
13:08 is the night there was the rain and we pray about it.
13:11 And--and to me it was the best meeting of the whole campaign.
13:15 And you preach just looking at the screens
13:17 and you went along that, you know,
13:20 and you say, the God give you, they put a mantle in you
13:24 and I think is--is, that is correct.
13:26 You know, and the other thing that impress me the most is that
13:30 that night after night we used to get there about 5:00, 5:15
13:34 and there were already 35,000, 45,000 people
13:37 sitting on the area waiting for us.
13:39 You know, and that's something that,
13:43 you know, we need to-- we need to learn from them.
13:46 And you know, we--when here
13:48 we come to church at 12:00, 12:15,
13:51 you know, and thinking about lunch.
13:53 Yeah. You know, so over there people waiting for us.
13:57 Actually they welcome us every day.
14:00 And by the time you came to preach,
14:02 there was 100,000, 120,000 people
14:04 sitting down already on the bleacher.
14:06 So it was a great experience and a great opportunity.
14:09 And we thank you very much for taking us. Amen.
14:11 I want to thank you both for coming.
14:13 You are super team members. God bless you.
14:17 And God loves you and so do I.
14:18 Thank you. Thank you, thank you.
14:26 Preaching outdoors is not like
14:28 preaching in a nice little church or a nice big church.
14:36 The rain comes, the wind comes,
14:39 but if you're a soldier, you don't run away.
14:43 On the Friday night, it was crucial the meeting went ahead.
14:47 On Thursday night, I'd had a call for baptism.
14:50 And thousands of people had responded,
14:52 raise their hands, come down the front.
14:56 But on the Friday night, when we got down there,
14:58 the heavens opened up. And it came down hard.
15:03 The guys ran around
15:05 putting sheets over the-- over the equipment.
15:08 David was one of the stars of the show.
15:10 He said, "The show goes on,
15:12 we're gonna keep the cameras running in the rain.
15:15 We're gonna put tarpaulins over the cameras.
15:17 So they put tarpaulins over the cameras
15:20 and this Bible has got wet so many times,
15:26 but the rain was coming down so hard
15:30 on the stage that I did what Javier said.
15:34 I said to Daniel. Daniel, turn the projectors on
15:39 because we turn the projectors off, we thought they'd blow.
15:42 So we said, "Well, they're going to blow, let them blow.
15:45 So we're gonna put them in the hands of God.
15:47 So we turn on the projectors, we had the PA system running,
15:50 we had our own lights own, all our own power on.
15:53 And I went out and I preached in the rain.
15:56 Let me tell you, folks, something.
15:57 I guess we had 120,000, 130,000 people there.
16:03 I guess in America, how many would get up
16:05 and go home if they thought it was going to rain?
16:08 How many? Many. Pretty sad, isn't it?
16:12 And Bob says down in front, well most of us,
16:13 most folks would get up in America.
16:15 Most folks in Australia would get up and go home.
16:18 You know why? We don't have courage.
16:22 We've become a weak people. We're no longer a strong people.
16:28 As we've got away from the word of God in America
16:31 and that's the crisis of America.
16:33 We know America is under tremendous crisis.
16:37 America is under crisis
16:39 because America has gotten away from God.
16:41 That's the problem.
16:43 And politics, no, don't make me laugh.
16:45 Politics will not save America.
16:47 America needs to return to the God of our Fathers. Amen.
16:51 But as I preach there, you know,
16:52 many folks got up and walked out. Not a soul.
16:56 They sat there 120, 130 plus thousand souls.
17:00 They got sopping wet.
17:03 And the spirit of God came down upon me again.
17:07 I felt I'm not an emotional person,
17:10 but as I like some people, I don't go by my feelings.
17:14 I'm here today not because I feel like it.
17:16 I'm here today because the word of God tells me to be here.
17:20 But as I was preaching, I was completely sensitive
17:23 to the fact that God had taken over the meeting.
17:26 And that night we had another alter call
17:28 thousands of people came down to front
17:31 and that prepared for baptism,
17:33 the next day, the devil tried to stop it.
17:36 Now who were these people?
17:39 Well, they were doctors there and lawyers.
17:44 They're rich-- I can tell you
17:45 a great story about a lawyer.
17:47 The minister of finance had his lawyer come,
17:49 and man was oddly opposed to everything I preached.
17:53 He came from a certain church
17:55 that says to change the Commandments of God.
17:58 And the lawyer sat there and he was as mad as a hornet.
18:02 But I went to the Filipino Embassy
18:05 for reception on the Sunday after the final Saturday night.
18:09 And the Minister of Finance was there.
18:10 He said, "You certainly made my attorney really mad."
18:15 I said, "Is that so?"
18:16 He said, "Yeah, he got baptized yesterday."
18:21 So we had, we had the rich and the poor.
18:25 We had families with their children.
18:28 We had ambassadors.
18:30 The ambassador from the Philippines
18:32 was there every night.
18:33 In fact, he helped with the baptism.
18:35 He baptized people.
18:37 He's also an Adventist minister, "glory be to God."
18:40 The ambassador from the South Korea was there.
18:43 And you can see them up there on the screen.
18:45 They came because the meeting-- and here they're raising
18:50 their hands to follow Jesus, you see.
18:54 And don't tell me that God is dead, my friend.
18:57 They were beautiful people
18:58 who were closer to God than most of us
19:01 because they have more faith in us.
19:04 One of the pastors said to me on the last Saturday night
19:08 when it looked like rain again
19:10 and even though I'd survived everything else, I thought,
19:13 "Lord, don't let it rain now. Don't let it rain now."
19:18 He came to me. A black pastor, he put his hand on my shoulder.
19:21 He said, "Pastor, have faith in God."
19:26 He said, "Have faith." I said, "I've got faith."
19:29 He said, "Have a little more."
19:32 I say to you have faith. Have a little more.
19:36 A person who was one of our soldiers
19:38 was Daniel Burgos.
19:40 I'm just so proud of Daniel.
19:43 He came over and he was a good soldier of the Cross,
19:48 and he helped to win the battle.
19:50 And Daniel is going to come down
19:52 because right now he's up the back,
19:55 doing the visuals with the computers,
19:57 but I want you to welcome one of our soldiers, Daniel Burgos.
20:08 Glad to see you, Daniel.
20:10 It's glad to be seen. Tell me.
20:15 And don't you start playing to the audience now.
20:17 You just do what I told you to do.
20:18 Now tell me, tell me,
20:21 tell me from your heart, your impressions.
20:28 Well, as you know, I've been going to these meetings
20:31 since Odessa back in 2003.
20:34 And my impression each and every time
20:36 I've gone to these has been during alter call.
20:40 And right after you've preached the gospels to these people,
20:44 regardless of where they're at and where they're from,
20:48 the amazing thing is when they raise
20:50 their hands and give their lives to Christ.
20:53 And what impresses me the most is that I am able to
20:58 live once again vicariously through them.
21:02 And I see their faces and I look at them and I say wow,
21:05 I know exactly what they're feeling,
21:08 what they're experiencing.
21:10 And no amount of money can buy that.
21:14 And the beauty of it is that
21:17 it reinforces my faith once again.
21:21 And it's like accepting Christ all over again
21:24 when you see their faces.
21:26 You--you just can't explain it in words,
21:28 I mean, you have to be
21:30 a born again Christian to really understand.
21:33 And the other thing that amazes me
21:35 is how a Ragtag Team like ourself,
21:38 a small team can accomplish this.
21:40 And I found out what it is, it's not us at all.
21:44 It's without the-- without the grace of God
21:48 and the power of His spirit, none of this is possible.
21:51 And this experience helped me realize
21:57 and remember the power of God, because the power of God is in
22:00 the preaching of the gospel and that's being done here.
22:03 And people's lives are being changed.
22:05 And I'm a witness to that.
22:07 And this time around, I'm a witness
22:09 to the thousands and thousands of people that came.
22:12 And I saw their lives changed.
22:15 And that is a miracle, tens of thousands of miracles
22:19 in one place, and that's amazing.
22:21 Proud of you, Daniel. God bless you.
22:23 You did a great job. God bless you, my friend.
22:33 To the members of our church, highly esteemed,
22:37 Jose and Elsa Sulgatti.
22:40 Would you please welcome them today?
22:48 I think I could say,
22:50 and I'm absolutely certain about this.
22:56 If you had not come, my friend,
22:59 we would not have open on time.
23:01 Because, you know, when we got there, we had the devil
23:07 and everybody else sort of fighting us.
23:11 We couldn't get the screens up.
23:17 We just had obstructionism.
23:19 But you came and you are one of the greatest builders
23:23 on the planet and you were of great value.
23:27 And you did my make up, so I won't comment on that
23:29 because this is a television program.
23:31 Now, Mrs. Sulgatti,
23:33 tell me from your heart, your impressions.
23:37 Pastor Carter, I have the best memories of the campaign.
23:41 I felt the power of the Holy Spirit
23:44 working through you. All right.
23:47 And I could see the change
23:50 in the lives of the people when they meet Jesus.
23:55 I saw the blessings of the Lord upon us.
24:01 That's why I so thankful to the Lord.
24:03 Because through the change of the people,
24:06 through their eyes, feel of peace and hope,
24:12 my eyes can see the love and the power in the glory of God.
24:17 I thankful to God because
24:19 He allows me to belong to this ministry.
24:22 The Carter report Ministry that he is preaching the word
24:27 and the glory of God for the whole world.
24:32 Thank you, Pastor Carter. Thank you so much.
24:35 Mrs. Sulgatti, it was a pleasure having you.
24:38 And a pleasure having you, my Brother Jose.
24:42 And, Brother Jose, you're an elder of this church,
24:44 tell me from your heart your feelings.
24:48 The first thing I want to tell you,
24:51 glory be to God. Yeah.
24:53 Because my eyes saw His glory.
24:59 Every night I saw beautiful theme
25:03 from the Holy Spirit working through those people.
25:06 You know, incredible.
25:08 Your work, Pastor Carter were fantastic
25:11 because your--the Holy Spirit was with you,
25:13 honestly from my heart.
25:16 I know they're seeing,
25:17 I very proud belong to the church
25:20 because this church has a vision.
25:23 Not only vision, has mission, for that reason
25:26 I am ready continue with this church.
25:29 God bless you, Brother Jose. Thank you.
25:32 God bless you, Sister Elsa. Thank you.
25:41 You cannot go through this experience and be the same.
25:46 Now, you know, sometimes
25:51 in this part of the world-- I'm gonna be honest with you.
25:54 You feel as though you're talking just to the air.
25:59 You do. Because people have heard it over and over
26:03 and it doesn't seem to make any difference to them.
26:06 But I want to tell you folks something.
26:08 If you see what these people have seen,
26:11 you know that there is a personal God
26:13 and you know, there's a real devil,
26:16 and you know that Jesus is Lord over all. Amen.
26:20 And we have seen the Power of God.
26:23 A very valued member of our team was our pastor.
26:29 Pastor James Venegas. Would you please welcome him?
26:37 I'm so glad, Pastor Venegas, that you came with us.
26:40 Tell me from your heart, from your soul, your experience.
26:46 Well, for me this was the first time
26:47 I've ever seen anything like it.
26:49 The closest I've ever come have been mission stories
26:51 and things like that, mission spotlights.
26:53 To be a part of it, there's so many things
26:55 that I'd never imagine.
26:57 Just the sheer scale of what you do, really blew me away.
27:01 This is nothing less than a size of a rock concert, really.
27:05 The staging, the lighting, the cameras,
27:07 all of the work that goes into it.
27:09 The other thing that really impressed me
27:11 was the fact that it's a real battle zone,
27:13 the devil is really trying to thwart every step of the way,
27:16 from getting access to the place,
27:18 from equipment not working, from things going wrong.
27:21 It's a real battle zone.
27:23 The devil really doesn't want-- It is.
27:25 To happen what was about to happen.
27:28 But then the flip side of that,
27:30 I was in the control area of the projection computers.
27:35 We got to see people close and personal.
27:38 I could hear their reactions as you were preaching.
27:41 When you were telling a sad story
27:42 that communally would go tsk, tsk, tsk.
27:45 You could hear the gasping. You could hear the clapping.
27:47 You could-- you could feel
27:49 the people just really taking in the message.
27:52 And of course like Daniel said, we were in the midst of it
27:54 when people responded in the alter call
27:57 as they were streaming I don't know,
27:58 10, 15, 20, 30 minutes alter calls.
28:02 People just streaming.
28:03 And I was watching to the back of the auditorium,
28:05 they just kept coming. Yeah.
28:07 Out of the bleaches, out of the very back,
28:09 they kept streaming and we were praying,
28:10 our team was praying as you were preaching.
28:13 And we were just so moved.
28:14 I was in tears because all of the work
28:17 and the challenges and then to see
28:18 the fruits of that was emotionally overwhelming.
28:22 Just to see the spirit working.
28:24 And then of course, the final--the final day,
28:26 the big privilege for me was the mass baptism.
28:30 Never seen anything like it.
28:31 I think for about a mile, maybe not that much.
28:34 The pastors lined up. And I was one of those pastors
28:37 and I've never, never been in that situation.
28:40 Maybe 75-70 people that we baptized individually.
28:44 Some are saying that we might have baptized 100 people.
28:47 I can hear you from a distance.
28:48 You would say the-the message and we would raise our hands.
28:52 I would quickly just introduce myself to the people.
28:54 We had about 30 seconds.
28:56 Then all of us as pastors would raise our hands
28:58 and we would repeat the lines
29:00 and then we would baptize unanimously.
29:03 It was really impressive to be in the--
29:05 I didn't want to get out of the water.
29:07 I--I could've baptized for--for hours and hours on.
29:09 And such was the reward for me as a pastor.
29:12 And they weren't thousands of people to me
29:14 they were individuals. That's right.
29:15 And I got to see the individuals.
29:17 A man came out to me one day and he just hugged me
29:19 and he was just crying and crying and he wouldn't stop.
29:22 Never got to ask him why.
29:23 Because there were so many peoples,
29:25 but that they were individuals.
29:26 This was not just a cooperate thing,
29:27 real people making real decisions
29:29 through the power of the Holy Spirit.
29:31 You were big blessing. And we thank you for coming.
29:35 God bless you. And thank you for the privilege. God bless you.
29:36 Thank you for the privilege. Thank you.
29:47 Let me talk a little bit about the baptism.
29:52 It was difficult getting down to Ela Beach
29:55 because of the vast crowd.
29:59 I found it hard to get there.
30:00 They had to get me a police escort to get there.
30:05 When I got there, they had prepared a truck,
30:08 perched precariously on a rock over the sea.
30:13 We got up on the back of the truck.
30:16 But the baptism was so vast and went for so far,
30:21 as pastor Venegas has already told you,
30:23 it was hard to see the pastors.
30:28 It was hard to see the people getting baptized.
30:33 There were 50 pastors.
30:36 There were pastors from Australia,
30:38 they were the local pastors.
30:41 Pastor Lee Rice, the union president,
30:44 the theological faculty from Pacific Adventist University
30:48 which is a credit to the name of the church,
30:51 an outstanding university.
30:54 And as we baptized and as we were finishing
30:57 the baptism, others arrived late.
31:02 And the people started to cry out, let them come,
31:07 let them come, let them come, let them come,
31:11 and they came out into the water and were baptized.
31:16 On the last Saturday night, we had a last call for baptism.
31:23 It was an emotional meeting
31:25 because the people didn't want us to leave.
31:30 In our churches in Australia and in America,
31:33 most people are looking at their watches
31:37 and if the preacher goes over 12 o'clock, they're offended.
31:42 That's for one or two reasons,
31:44 maybe the preacher is boring, that's a possibility.
31:49 Or number two, they think more of their stomachs
31:53 than they think of their souls.
31:56 So it could be either or.
31:59 But the people there had one big complaint,
32:02 our meeting started with music at 6 o'clock
32:05 and I would be preaching about quarter past seven
32:08 and I would finish at quarter past eight.
32:10 And sometimes have an altar call until quarter to nine.
32:14 And the people officially protested,
32:16 they said, "the meetings are too short."
32:21 You know why? They were being fed and they love God.
32:25 I want to say that when I went there,
32:27 I felt I was standing on the shoulders of the pioneers,
32:31 men who were ten feet tall.
32:33 I was told the story of a young couple
32:36 who came almost a 100 years ago
32:38 from Australia, Pastor and Mrs. Carr.
32:43 They were told the only place
32:45 where they could work was up in the hills.
32:48 And so they went up the Kokoda trail
32:50 made famous by the warfare with the Japanese that came later.
32:56 They went up the Kokoda trail
32:58 which is a high mountain on the backs of mules.
33:03 They were in their 20s.
33:05 And when they went up to this place,
33:07 they founded a little church there at Bisia-tabu
33:12 and these people watch our television program.
33:16 They are the saints of God.
33:21 It was in this place that they had after 8 years,
33:25 after 8 years--Oh, I wish you could have heard the choir,
33:30 conducted by an old Solomon Islander preacher.
33:35 But I wish you could have gone with me to the place
33:38 where they had the first baptism.
33:41 It took 8 years to win one person
33:46 because the people up there were cannibals.
33:53 And I think of how they took with them a young missionary,
33:57 young man from Fiji.
34:00 And the chief up there at Bisia-tabu,
34:03 he said, "whatever you were told, the true story is
34:07 that we killed him. We killed him."
34:12 And many, many years later we buried,
34:14 we went and dug up his remains and we buried him in this spot.
34:19 And we told the people from Fiji to come.
34:21 This is an interesting story.
34:24 We were met by these people as they used to be.
34:30 But something quite unusual happened.
34:34 They were hiding in the bushes waiting for us to come.
34:39 But a busload of Japanese went ahead of us.
34:43 They thought the Japanese bus was our bus.
34:48 And so they rushed out and they confronted the Japanese,
34:53 who've decided never, never to go to PNG again.
34:59 But up there, this young couple went
35:01 and this is where they founded the work of God.
35:07 And let me tell you something else, this was nostalgic for us
35:13 because this is where 4,000 young Australian men
35:16 died fighting the enemy.
35:19 The Japanese came down the Owen Stanley track
35:23 and they came down to take over
35:25 Port Moresby to invade Australia.
35:28 And up there, 4,000 young Australian boys
35:33 in their late teens, their early 20s,
35:36 fought the Japanese and died in the jungle.
35:40 This is a poem there that's been placed there
35:43 by the Australian government about the "Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels."
35:50 When you say this in America
35:52 and in some places in the world, they think it's racist.
35:57 The term "Fuzzy Wuzzy" in PNG is a badge of honor.
36:02 Because the fuzzy wuzzies were the natives,
36:05 some of them unbelievers
36:07 who carried the Australian soldiers back,
36:10 shot all to pieces.
36:13 So they've actually built with the Australian government,
36:16 a memorial to the fuzzy wuzzies.
36:20 And many of those fuzzy wuzzies were Adventist Christians.
36:24 And they were Adventist Christians
36:26 because of pastor and Mrs. Carr.
36:29 I say to the young people in this church,
36:32 "what's wrong with you, what's wrong with all of us?"
36:36 They went in their early 20s,
36:38 on the backs of mules suffering from malaria
36:42 going into the land where they would
36:45 eat their enemies and ate their own dead.
36:51 "Many a mother in Australia When the busy day is done,
36:54 Sends a prayer to the Almighty For the keeping of her son.
36:58 Asking that an angel guide him And bring him safely back
37:02 Now we see those prayers
37:04 are answered On the Owen Stanley track.
37:07 Though they haven't any halos
37:09 Only holes slashed through the ear
37:11 And their faces marked with tattoos
37:13 And with scratch pins in their hair
37:16 Bringing back the badly wounded
37:18 Just as steady as a horse,
37:21 Using leaves to keep the rain off
37:24 And as gentle as a nurse
37:26 Slow and careful in bad places On the awful mountain track
37:31 And the look upon their faces
37:32 Makes us think that Christ was black
37:35 Not a move to hurt the carried As they treat him like a saint
37:39 It's a picture worth recording that an artist's yet to paint.
37:45 Many a lot will see his mother and the husbands,
37:47 weans and wives, just because the fuzzy wuzzies
37:52 carried them to save their lives
37:54 from mortar or machine gun fire
37:57 or chance surprise attacks
38:00 To the safety and the care of doctors
38:02 At the bottom of the track Many the mothers in Australia
38:07 When they offer up a prayer, Mention these impromptu angels
38:13 With their fuzzy wuzzy hair."
38:16 We had the privilege
38:18 of preaching to the fuzzy wuzzies,
38:21 the sons and the grandsons and the granddaughters
38:26 of those original fuzzy wuzzy angels
38:29 who carried out soldiers back.
38:32 The campaign had a national influence,
38:35 went far beyond the borders of the campaign.
38:41 The prime minister asked to meet with me
38:44 and the deputy prime minister
38:46 and my team too, and the cabinet.
38:51 It was my privilege to talk to them
38:53 and then to pray with them.
38:54 I put my arms around them
38:56 and prayed that God would lead them and guide them
38:59 and help them to help the people of their own nation.
39:02 One night, 12 newly elected parliamentarians
39:06 came to the meetings
39:08 and we brought them up the front here,
39:10 they are standing for the altar call.
39:12 Then after the meeting they came up the front.
39:15 It was my privilege with my team to lay hands on them
39:19 and to pray that God would help them
39:20 to keep the commandments of God
39:22 so they could obey the laws of men.
39:25 We prayed that the spirit of God would fill them.
39:28 The prime minister said to me,
39:31 "Pastor Carter, I want to thank you
39:33 on behalf of the Papua New Guinea nation
39:37 because you have blessed the whole nation."
39:41 We say that God blessed the whole nation.
39:44 At their previous election,
39:46 many people were killed in fighting.
39:50 They did the actual counting for the new election
39:52 at the stadium where we were having the meetings.
39:56 In a building on the campus of the stadium,
39:59 they counted the votes.
40:02 We were not allowed into the stadium
40:04 on the Sunday we want-- when we wanted to get in.
40:07 My team couldn't get in because there was a riot
40:10 taking place in the stadium over the counting of the votes.
40:15 And the police said to David who was one of the soldiers
40:18 and one of the heroes of the campaign,
40:20 you can't come in with your team you may be killed.
40:25 But they got in the next day and when the meeting started,
40:29 the spirit of God came down upon this whole place.
40:33 And there was peace in the nation.
40:36 No fighting, no bloodshed,
40:39 no war and he said, "You blessed the whole nation."
40:46 I would remind you of this, it could happen anywhere.
40:50 The Bible says, "If my people who are called by my name
40:53 will humble themselves and turn from their wicked way."
40:58 Our biggest sin, my friend,
41:00 in the church today is the sin of unbelief.
41:06 That we do not believe in the greatness of God.
41:08 But those who believe see the miracles of God.
41:12 Elijah said, "I hear the sound of abundance of rain."
41:20 And I say to you today,
41:22 "I hear the sound of abundance of rain.
41:26 I have seen Pentecost, I have seen the latter rain."
41:32 Now I'm going to show you,
41:36 it's a little clip from the last altar call on the last night.
41:46 Oh, so many people He denied, it's a vast, vast crowd.
41:51 I think these are the biggest crowds
41:53 in the history of the nation.
41:56 So many coming over here, there's still room for you.
42:00 Those who are coming to the Christ
42:02 for the first time, come tonight.
42:05 Those who were baptized this morning, come.
42:09 Those who'd like to be baptized, you keep coming.
42:13 Now the rest are going to wait.
42:16 We've never had an altar call quite like this one.
42:20 This is an amazing response
42:24 because the spirit of the Lord is here.
42:26 Can I see the hands of those here, who saw the white dove?
42:32 Goodness. You all saw the white dove.
42:35 Put up your hands higher.
42:37 Now I wanna say this for television.
42:41 I want the television camera to hear this.
42:44 A white dove, a huge bird,
42:47 a huge white dove has come into this place twice
42:50 when we'd been talking about the Holy Spirit.
42:53 When the dove came first, a few people saw it
42:56 but some people said, "No, it couldn't be true."
42:59 But tonight, you all saw the white dove.
43:03 What about in the-- out in the audience?
43:04 Raise your hand if you saw the white dove.
43:07 You saw the white dove tonight. It's amazing.
43:11 Yes, you know what this is, my friend?
43:15 It is a sign from the Holy Spirit.
43:19 It is a sign for the people of PNG from the Holy Spirit
43:23 that you and I are to follow the word of God
43:25 and to follow Jesus and to be baptized
43:29 and to keep His Holy truth.
43:31 I believe in a God of miracles, what about you?
43:37 Don't you believe in miracles?
43:38 Yes, I believe in a God who works miracles.
43:43 And people are coming still from over there
43:46 and they are coming from over the hill.
43:48 I think from the other projector.
43:50 This is absolutely incredible and amazing.
43:55 They're pouring down everywhere so keep coming
43:58 because we don't want to miss a single soul tonight.
44:03 There's room at the cross for you tonight.
44:09 And as you come here tonight, you're saying to God,
44:13 "My father in heaven,
44:15 I'm accepting Christ as my Lord and my savior."
44:20 Others are saying, "I was baptized this morning
44:23 and I've come down here because
44:25 I'm going to continue to follow Christ.
44:28 I'll be at church next Sabbath.
44:30 I'm going to get a Bible
44:32 and I'm going to meet you, John Carter, in paradise."
44:37 We're gonna meet together by the grace of God.
44:41 So this--this is not going to be a goodbye,
44:44 this is just going to be, "well, I'll see you later."
44:49 We're gonna meet in God's kingdom.
44:53 Now we're gonna wait for those people to come
44:55 because we have thousands and thousands of people
44:59 coming forward tonight.
45:01 They're standing out here,
45:02 they're trying to come down in the aisles.
45:05 And this is the power
45:06 of the Holy Spirit who is here tonight.
45:09 I can sense the presence of the spirit of God,
45:12 He is bearing witness to His word.
45:15 And we say, "thank you, God, thank you, Jesus."
45:20 And there are still some coming, and let me make it plain to you.
45:25 This is a call for those who were baptized morning.
45:29 Number two, those who would like to be baptized,
45:33 weren't baptized this morning, and number three,
45:36 for those in this vast audience who've never accepted
45:39 Christ before, you're coming forward.
45:42 Can I see the hands of those in this vast audience,
45:46 you weren't baptized this morning,
45:49 but you would like to be baptized,
45:50 as Jesus was, some time in the future.
45:53 Can you put up your hands?
45:56 Goodness, there's a thousand hands here, over here.
46:01 Now you understand what I'm saying.
46:03 You'd like to be baptized.
46:05 Is that what you're putting your hands up for?
46:08 You got it, yeah.
46:09 Let me see the hands of those
46:11 who'd like to be baptized, as Jesus was.
46:14 Yes, it's a huge number of people,
46:17 put your hands down.
46:18 Let me see the hands of those who were baptized this morning.
46:22 Well, that's a huge number too, it's a huge number.
46:26 God is doing a mighty work here in Port Moresby.
46:33 This is the mighty, overwhelming power of God at work tonight.
46:42 I want to say, today,
46:46 from my heart, my thanks to my team.
46:49 David Carter, great job, David. Harold and Glenda Harker.
46:54 Harold was the campaign manager, an old soldier of the cross.
46:58 Susan and Javier Piraino.
47:01 John and Beth Kosmeier from Australia.
47:04 Donn Beagle, great job on the sound.
47:08 Don Sforcina from Tumbulgum Church
47:11 in North New South Wales Conference.
47:13 God bless you for ever, Don, great job.
47:16 Bob Ludwig, great sound.
47:18 James Venegas, the pastor of the church.
47:21 Carlos Leon, tremendous job on the computers.
47:26 Rick Eisleben, the director of television.
47:30 Bart Parr, cameraman.
47:31 Jose and Elsa Sulgatti, super team.
47:36 Eteuati Feau, came from
47:37 North New South Wales Conference, a young minister.
47:40 Rick Layson, Lee Yarbrough, Wayne Hackett, what a blessing.
47:45 Pastor Willie Garcia and last but not least Daniel Burgos.
47:50 To that team, I say, "Thank you, in Jesus' name."
47:58 And now we invite you to be a part of the great audience
48:02 that packed the Sir John Guise Stadium
48:05 in Papua, New Guinea,
48:06 as Pastor John Carter preaches the word of God.
48:10 Witness thousands as they come forward
48:13 to accept Christ as their Lord and savior.
48:23 We're going from text to text, we're building a case for truth.
48:27 Now we ask the question of the Bible.
48:30 You see, I'm not telling you how a church interprets the Bible.
48:34 I'm not here tonight to tell you
48:35 what my church believes about the Bible.
48:38 I'm not here to tell you
48:39 what the Roman Catholics believe, I love them.
48:41 I'm not here to tell you
48:42 what the Baptists believe, I love them.
48:44 I'm not here o tell you
48:45 what the Methodists believe, I love them.
48:47 I'm not here to tell you
48:48 what the Adventists believe, I love them.
48:50 I'm here to tell you what the word of God says.
48:53 You get it, my friend?
48:55 So we're talking tonight from the Bible. Okay.
49:01 One night, I said to a vast audience,
49:03 "How many people in this vast audience,
49:05 how many suffer here from depression?"
49:08 You know what?
49:10 Everybody put up his hand, even children.
49:16 Atheism tore the heart out of Russia.
49:21 It blotted out the sun, and the people were told,
49:26 "You are not human beings,
49:28 you are animals, you are machines.
49:31 And there is no God,
49:34 and there's no heaven and there's no Christ."
49:42 I'm going to tell you something.
49:44 In Kiev, I spoke at the very place
49:48 were Kyrpychov told the people
49:51 that the name of Christ would be blotted from Russia
49:55 and Ukraine and around the world.
49:58 Kyrpychov said, "Atheism is going to win, Christ is dead."
50:06 But I want to tell you folks something,
50:08 Kyrpychov is dead and Christ is alive.
50:13 Did you hear this?
50:14 Kyrpychov is dead, Lenin is dead,
50:17 Stalin is dead, but Jesus is alive
50:20 and He's coming back in power and great glory,
50:24 hallelujah, praise God.
50:28 You get down, my friend,
50:30 you keep coming down, Babylon, Medio Persia.
50:34 Then you come down to Greece,
50:36 and then you come down to the legs of Rome.
50:40 Then you come to the break up of the Roman Empire
50:43 into the kingdoms and the states of Europe.
50:45 We are living in the toes, the stone is coming.
50:50 Well, believe truly in Christ,
50:53 and ask him to come into your heart.
50:58 Something wonderful is going to happen to you.
51:01 A miracle will happen in your life,
51:05 you will become a new person,
51:09 a child of God, a citizen of the kingdom.
51:17 And when Jesus comes, He will say to you,
51:21 He will look at you and He will say,
51:24 "My son and my daughter,
51:27 it is now time for you to come home."
51:34 The creator of the universe,
51:37 He has the solution for every human problem.
51:42 He has the solution to my problem
51:46 and He's got the solution for your problem tonight.
51:50 And the purpose of this meeting is to get us to reach out
51:54 and touch the great creator of the universe.
51:58 Listen to me, listen to this.
52:01 And this is going to get bit heavy,
52:04 but I want to tell you something.
52:07 When I was boy going to the college in Australia,
52:10 I was so poor in those days,
52:15 I didn't know how I was going to pay my school fees.
52:19 I'm sure we've got students here tonight
52:21 and some of you are poor.
52:25 But no poorer than I was.
52:27 I was a poor student,
52:29 I didn't know how to pay my school fees.
52:34 And one night I went out and I looked up at the stars.
52:38 I was discouraged, I was depressed,
52:41 I was beaten up, and I went out and I looked up at stars.
52:46 And as I opened my heart up to the God who made the stars,
52:51 there came a tremendous peace in my heart.
52:55 And I knew that God was alive
52:58 and the God who made that stars would take care of me.
53:03 I want you to know tonight.
53:04 If you can learn in this meeting,
53:06 if you can learn to trust the God who made the stars,
53:11 you are going to have a tremendous peace
53:15 and you're going to have a tremendous power
53:18 and a tremendous joy.
53:20 Bless these upraised hearts, put your spirit into us tonight.
53:25 Take away our sins, take away our fears,
53:29 take away our worries, take away our concerns,
53:32 take away our hates,
53:34 and fill us with your joy and your peace and your love,
53:39 and grant to every person here tonight,
53:42 who has a hand raised
53:44 in an earnest supplication to Almighty God.
53:48 We pray, grant to every person here tonight,
53:51 the gift of everlasting life.
53:53 And we pray this prayer
53:55 in the mighty name of Jesus Christ,
54:00 our Lord and savior and for His sake, Amen and Amen.
54:08 "A band of evil men has encircled me.
54:12 They have pierced my hands and my feet."
54:20 When those words were written,
54:21 my beloved friends, crucifixion was unknown.
54:26 They didn't crucify people back in those days.
54:33 But the Roman soldiers at the instigation
54:36 of the religious hierarchy took the son of God
54:41 and they laid him on a cross, a wooden cross.
54:50 It was the worst of suffering.
54:52 And as He hung upon the cross, the sin of the world,
54:57 of Port Moresby and Sydney and Melbourne
55:00 and New York and Los Angeles,
55:02 the sin of all of us, was laid on him.
55:06 For one brief moment in time,
55:10 He was unfurled on the cross like a wounded eagle.
55:18 Why? Because he loves you so.
55:23 Will you not come to Him, will you not believe in Him,
55:27 will you not follow Him?
55:31 So I want you to come by faith tonight.
55:35 And there are still hundreds of people coming,
55:39 we're gonna wait for you.
55:42 I'm so glad to be here tonight, aren't you?
55:47 Can't you tell tonight that God is here, my friend?
55:51 Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place,
55:54 I can feel Him here tonight.
55:58 Souls are coming to Christ and souls are being saved.
56:06 Augustine said, "Our souls were made for God
56:10 and they cannot rest until they rest in him."
56:13 Within every heart,
56:14 there is void that only God can fill.
56:17 This is why so many came to the Carter Report meetings
56:20 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
56:23 The crowds were greater
56:24 than those attending the Olympic Games in London.
56:28 They came because every one is a winner when Christ is Lord.
56:33 If you, my dear friend,
56:34 would like to be a faith partner with us
56:36 in this extraordinary work,

57:23 I know the plans,
57:28 I have for you, Declares the Lord
57:41 I know the plans,
57:45 I have for you, Declares the Lord
