00:13 Today, we're talking about "The Fate of the Heathen."
00:20 Now, what do we mean by the term heathen?
00:24 Well, this is a very broad term.
00:27 It means people who worship strange
00:33 fire and God's, they're heathen.
00:35 There are billions of those in the world.
00:39 But then there is a sophisticated
00:41 form of heathenism
00:44 that we might dare call paganism.
00:49 Now, paganism, that is beautiful temple
00:51 and beautiful costumes and beautiful robes
00:55 and all of those things.
00:56 And so, we're talking about vast numbers of people
01:02 who don't follow Christ.
01:07 But in the last session, we saw the text that said,
01:12 "Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
01:15 And no one can come to God, the Father
01:18 unless they come through Jesus."
01:21 And that it was Jesus
01:23 who made an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
01:27 Therefore I am suggesting to you
01:30 on the authority of the word of God
01:33 that the only way people can be saved
01:36 is by coming to Christ.
01:42 I want you to think about that,
01:44 because that's a bit of a bombshell.
01:49 All people are born
01:51 with the knowledge of right and wrong.
01:54 Everybody who was born
01:55 is born with the knowledge of the law of God.
01:59 But nobody is born
02:00 with the knowledge of the gospel.
02:03 Nobody.
02:06 When it says their thoughts sometimes accuse
02:08 and sometimes defend them in the text we read before.
02:12 It's not saying that they're saved
02:13 by living up to the light they have.
02:17 Because the whole theme of the Book of Romans
02:19 in the Bible is this, that people need Christ,
02:22 the way, the truth, and the life.
02:25 Now...
02:28 I guess I've spoken, I say this humbly,
02:31 probably there are more atheists
02:36 than just about any person around.
02:38 I've spoken to millions of them.
02:40 And I know from my own personal experience
02:45 and from the preaching of the Bible
02:47 that these people need Christ,
02:50 because without Christ,
02:53 they are in a great darkness.
02:57 I'm not a philosopher.
02:59 I'm talking here Bible truths.
03:01 I have seen in a meeting say 10,000 people,
03:05 atheists, unbelievers, communists, Marxists.
03:10 At the start of the meeting with their heads down,
03:13 they won't look at me.
03:15 And as I preached the gospel of Christ,
03:19 their heads come up a little bit.
03:21 Come up a little bit.
03:23 And when I asked the men will they come to Christ?
03:25 I'm talking about Russia.
03:27 I've seen them come down to front in such a hurry
03:30 that I was in danger of being killed.
03:34 Why?
03:35 Because they know better than we do
03:38 that a heart without Christ is lost.
03:43 So don't tell me there's a lot of light out there.
03:46 Christ is the light of the world, only Christ.
03:50 Now, he said something,
03:51 which was quite controversial
03:53 and politically incorrect in John 3:1 down to 7.
03:58 I want you to think about the theological
04:00 and the practical implications of this text.
04:04 John Chapter 3, "There was a man
04:05 of the Pharisees name Nicodemus,
04:07 a ruler of the Jews.
04:09 The same came to Jesus by night and said to him,
04:11 ''Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God,
04:14 for no one can do these signs that you do
04:16 unless God is with him."
04:18 Jesus answered and said to him..."
04:20 Now, he's talking to a theologian.
04:24 "Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born again,
04:27 he cannot see the kingdom of heaven."
04:29 That means you Nicodemus.
04:31 Unless you're born again, you're not going to heaven.
04:33 Nicodemus said to him,
04:35 "How can a man be born when he is old?
04:37 Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?"
04:41 He didn't get it, did he?
04:42 "Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you,
04:45 unless one is born of water and of the Spirit,
04:48 he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
04:49 That which is born of the flesh is flesh,
04:51 that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
04:53 Do not marvel that I said to you,
04:55 'You must be born again."
04:58 'What's he talking about?
05:00 What Jesus is talking about?
05:03 Now it is believed why some people,
05:08 who are more philosophically inclined
05:10 than biblically literate.
05:14 That when we're born,
05:16 and we come into the world as little babies,
05:19 we come saved,
05:23 and sinless,
05:25 and perfect.
05:29 This view is held by fathers, not by mothers,
05:31 who look after them.
05:36 But I want you folks to come over here
05:39 to Genesis Chapter 5.
05:41 Dear hearts and gentle people,
05:42 and you are such a wonderful audience.
05:46 Genesis 5:1-3
05:48 and you folks come from Thousand Oaks
05:50 where I live,
05:52 which is such a beautiful place in Southern California.
05:54 Genesis Chapter 5.
05:57 You, folks, got more enthusiastic about that
05:59 than anything else today.
06:02 This is the book of the genealogy of Adam.
06:05 In the day that God created man.
06:07 He made him in the likeness of..."
06:08 who?
06:09 We were made in the likeness of who, tell me?
06:11 God. "Made in the likeness of God.
06:15 He created them male and female,
06:17 and blessed them and called them
06:18 Mankind in the day they were created.
06:21 And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years,
06:24 and begot a son in his own likeness,
06:29 after his image,
06:31 named him Seth."
06:33 Now, Spurgeon said,
06:37 "Because of the sin of Adam,
06:40 we have his black blood in our veins."
06:46 By that he meant,
06:47 we are born with propensities and tendencies to sin.
06:52 If you ever seen a little baby this long lose its temper.
06:56 Where did he get that temper from, mothers?
07:00 Yeah.
07:02 This is the answer that always comes from the fathers, yeah.
07:07 But we are born-- David said,
07:09 "I was born in sin
07:11 and in sin did my mother conceive me."
07:14 God cannot take us to heaven
07:16 while we have these old natures that love sin.
07:20 Therefore, we've got to be born again.
07:23 And only Christ can give us life.
07:26 Now, come over here to John 1:1 please,
07:28 the Gospel of John.
07:30 This is perhaps the greatest book
07:32 that was ever written
07:33 in the history of the human race.
07:34 John 1:1 dear hearts.
07:37 "In the beginning was the Word,
07:39 and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
07:41 This is talking about Jesus, verses 9 and onwards.
07:45 "That was the true Light which gives light to every man
07:48 who comes into the world.
07:49 He was in the world,
07:51 and the world was made through Him,
07:52 and the world did not know Him.
07:53 He came to His own, His own did not receive Him.
07:57 But as many as received Him,
07:59 to them He gave the right to become children of God.
08:03 Even to those who believe in His name: who were born,
08:08 not a blood, nor of the will of the flesh,
08:10 nor of the will of man, but of God."
08:15 So what happens?
08:17 Now, I want everybody watching this program,
08:19 you think you got problems.
08:22 You think, you know, things are so impossible for you.
08:28 You've got children who've gone almost like delinquents,
08:33 they're on drugs.
08:34 You don't know what to do.
08:36 I want to tell you,
08:37 Jesus Christ is a mighty savior.
08:38 Amen.
08:40 I want you to know this.
08:42 I want you to know
08:43 that when a person comes to Christ,
08:46 he comes in true faith, a miracle happens in his life.
08:52 God changes that person.
08:55 Becomes a brand new person.
08:59 We've got far too much religion in the world.
09:03 Far too much religion in the world
09:07 but not enough of Christ.
09:09 Saul the Pharisee becomes Paul the Apostle.
09:13 Peter the stone becomes Peter of the rock man.
09:17 Hallelujah, I knew that was coming.
09:21 John and James are sons of thunder
09:23 become John and James the sons of patience.
09:28 I'm still working on that one.
09:29 Ildar the mafia man becomes Ildar,
09:32 the commandment keeping Christian.
09:34 Who is Ildar?
09:36 Well, whenever I go back to Russia,
09:38 Ildar is there to greet me.
09:40 He used to be the head of the Russian mafia.
09:44 He still scares people.
09:47 He does.
09:49 Where if I go anywhere in Russia
09:51 and I take Ildar, I get respect.
09:57 He's told me how he filled a man's belly with lead.
10:01 Five bullets and said, "Next time I'll kill you."
10:06 He said, "Next time I won't shoot you
10:09 where I've just shot you, I'll kill you."
10:14 I saw him just very recently.
10:16 He's now a preacher of the gospel.
10:17 Amen. Amen.
10:18 His life is changed.
10:20 When he heard, you know, how he came to Christ.
10:25 He got our DVDs, amazing.
10:28 We had them translated into Russian.
10:30 We didn't give him, somebody gave him some DVDs.
10:34 After he saw the first one, he was born again.
10:38 Amen. Amen
10:39 I'm telling you,
10:41 you say these things don't happen.
10:42 These things do happen.
10:43 Amen.
10:45 And then, he went out and saw his lieutenants
10:49 hit 400 armed soldiers with machine guns.
10:54 He sold his beautiful house that was built out of drugs.
10:59 And he built a magnificent church for the glory of God.
11:03 Amen. Amen.
11:05 He is a peaceful man, appeasable man.
11:08 He's a loving man.
11:10 It is the power of God, I'm telling you.
11:13 Amen.
11:15 And Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
11:19 He is the only way, He is not a way.
11:22 Don't believe this nonsense that Jesus is a way.
11:28 Don't believe this nonsense
11:30 that is taught even in many pulpits,
11:35 that every road goes home to glory.
11:37 It's not true.
11:38 Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
11:42 And He's the only way.
11:43 I'm going to read your statement here by
11:45 an American thought leader.
11:51 I think she certainly
11:54 had the inspiration of God when she wrote.
11:56 Listen to this.
11:58 "I saw that the slave master will have to answer
12:02 for the soul of the slave
12:05 whom he has kept in ignorance,
12:09 and the sin of the slave
12:10 will be visited upon the master.
12:13 God cannot take to heaven the slave
12:15 who has been kept in ignorance and degradation,
12:22 knowing nothing of God or the Bible,
12:24 fearing nothing but his master's lash,
12:26 and holding a lower position than the brutes.
12:30 But He does the best thing for him
12:31 that a compassionate God can do.
12:33 He permits him to be as if he had not been,
12:37 while the master must endure the seven last plagues,
12:40 then come up in the second resurrection
12:42 and suffer the second, most awful death.
12:44 Then the justice of God will be satisfied."
12:49 Now, those people watching,
12:50 you can get this little book that I wrote,
12:52 it's a booklet, "The Fate of the Heathen."
12:56 Write to me John Carter.
12:58 And the address is on the screen
12:59 for the United States
13:01 and Australia and other places, ask for it.
13:05 The Fate of the Heathen,
13:08 it will put a fire in your belly.
13:11 Amen. Amen.
13:14 Now, I got a feeling
13:17 a lot of people don't understand
13:21 this great truth
13:23 and that is why they don't do evangelism.
13:30 They talk about people being saved in darkness.
13:32 I don't think they're going to be saved in their darkness.
13:37 Ellen White describes a group of people
13:39 who must have been tens of thousands,
13:43 hundreds of thousands
13:45 that were kept in ignorance and darkness.
13:47 You will say,
13:48 "Those who believe
13:50 that were saved by living up to the light they have."
13:52 Well, God is going to take all of them to heaven.
13:55 She says, they never had an opportunity.
13:59 They're not even going to be resurrected.
14:05 Who is to blame?
14:07 The slave master
14:12 is gonna go to hell.
14:14 But his going to hell doesn't help the Negro slave.
14:20 That God is in the business of transforming lives.
14:23 God cannot take into heaven of race,
14:26 of unredeemed sinners.
14:31 Now, every talk should have a therefore.
14:36 If you aim at nothing, you're gonna hit it.
14:39 "Therefore
14:41 God has given to the church
14:43 the work of taking the gospel of salvation to the lost.
14:46 That is why the church exists."
14:49 To many churches have become cozy little clubs.
14:57 An offense in the nostrils of Almighty God.
15:06 Would you come over here
15:07 to Matthew 28:16 and onwards?
15:10 These are the words of our blessed Lord.
15:15 Matthew 28:16, and onwards, dear hearts and gentle people.
15:20 "Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee,
15:22 to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them.
15:25 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him,
15:27 and some doubted.
15:29 But then Jesus came and spoke to them, saying
15:31 "All authority has been given to Me
15:33 in heaven and on earth..."
15:34 Hallelujah.
15:36 "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations
15:39 baptizing them in the name of the Father..."
15:41 The singular, talking here about the trinity.
15:43 "The name of the Father
15:45 and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
15:52 People say, "Well, you know, it's an option.
15:55 When did Jesus say this?
15:57 Because the world is lost without Christ, that's why.
16:02 People have said to me. "It doesn't seem fair.
16:05 It doesn't seem fair
16:06 that people are going to be lost."
16:11 Remember the Negro slaves.
16:15 Doesn't seem fair to me
16:17 that Christ came down from glory
16:19 and went through hell and hung on the cross.
16:23 And the church
16:25 that has the truth of God,
16:27 will it souls perish?
16:32 The greatest of all sins
16:34 is to withhold salvation
16:36 from those who are within your reach.
16:39 People said to me years ago
16:41 when I went to Russia for the first time.
16:42 They said, "Why does he go?
16:45 What's he doing?
16:47 What sort of thing is he got going on in Russia?"
16:52 It's because they are in darkness and blindness.
16:56 They're in the church, but they were not in Christ.
17:00 They were lost souls
17:03 and preaching is God's ordained means of saving the lost.
17:07 When the church despises the pulpit Spurgeon said,
17:10 God will respite the church.
17:12 Don't forget it.
17:15 Come over here to Romans 10.
17:18 You're good audience, folks.
17:21 Romans 10:12 and onwards.
17:26 Romans 10:12 and onwards,
17:29 "For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek
17:31 for the same Lord over all
17:33 is rich to all who call upon Him,
17:36 For "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord
17:38 shall be saved."
17:39 Oh, no anybody who just,
17:42 you know, it's just good.
17:43 No.
17:45 "Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
17:46 How then shall they call on Him
17:48 who in whom they have not believed?
17:51 And how shall they believe in Him
17:53 of whom they have not heard?
17:54 And how shall they hear without a preacher?"
17:59 And how shall they preach unless they are sent?
18:01 As it is written:
18:03 "How beautiful are the feet of those
18:04 who preach the gospel of peace,
18:06 Who bring glad tidings of good things!"
18:10 Preaching, it's got a bad rap today
18:16 in the church, elsewhere.
18:19 People want to do every, every sort of thing but preaching.
18:25 I've heard people say to me, "Don't talk so loud."
18:30 Don't get me mad I say.
18:33 They say, "Don't talk so loud.
18:36 We don't believe in preaching anymore.
18:39 We just believe in being friendly."
18:49 I believe in a God of judgment too and his coming.
18:51 Would you come over here to 1 Corinthians Chapter 1,
18:54 I Corinthians 1:20-24.
18:59 You, folks, having good time.
19:01 Yes.
19:02 Okay, 1 Corinthians 1:20-24 "Where is the wise?
19:07 Where is the scribe?
19:09 Where is the disputer of this age?
19:11 Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
19:14 For since, in the wisdom of God,
19:15 the world through wisdom did not know God,
19:17 it pleased God through the foolishness
19:20 of the message preached to save those who believe.
19:24 For Jews request a sign, and Greek seek after wisdom;
19:30 but we preach Christ crucified,
19:33 to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,
19:37 but to those who are called,
19:39 both Jews and Greeks,
19:40 Christ the power of God
19:44 and the wisdom of God."
19:46 My, friends, listen to this.
19:49 In spite of an indifferent
19:53 and often indolent church,
19:57 and I've been a pastor for more than 50 years.
20:02 In spite of an indifferent
20:03 and indolent sleepy church.
20:09 And a corrupt and persecuting world,
20:13 God has always had his preachers of righteousness.
20:16 Enoch, Noah, Moses, Elijah, John the Baptist,
20:22 Jesus our blessed Lord.
20:24 Paul the Apostle, Martin Luther my hero.
20:28 John Wesley who preached 42,000 sermons
20:31 and traveled 360,000 miles
20:34 not in a Mercedes but on the back of a horse,
20:38 Ellen White, H.M.S Richards.
20:41 When we were in El Salvador recently,
20:44 we had 80 pastors preaching
20:49 80 running campaigns.
20:52 To get their people to the meetings,
20:55 we had to hire 760 buses, hallelujah.
21:00 Hallelujah.
21:01 People say, "Oh, no, it can't happen anymore."
21:05 Nothing can defeat the work of the gospel of Christ.
21:10 I'm giving you folks the DVD Victory at Kiev.
21:14 You folks watching, you can get it,
21:17 Victory at Kiev.
21:19 Write to me John Carter, get the video, Victory at Kiev.
21:24 I was there only few weeks ago.
21:27 Went and visited the tomb of the Patriarch.
21:30 On the footpath,
21:32 he said, "You will come and preach
21:33 here over my dead body."
21:36 Just before I got up to preach, he said,
21:38 "We're going to throw you out, we're going to do this.
21:41 Your life will not be safe."
21:44 He died just before I got up to preach.
21:50 In the video, Victoria at Kiev, we saw the power,
21:54 you'll see the power of God.
21:57 That the power of God is mighty,
21:59 and nothing can stop the successful
22:02 prosecution of his work.
22:06 Now, I'm going to read you a poem.
22:10 Here it goes.
22:11 "Sometimes I put in a little bit.
22:13 Sometimes I got to leave out a little bit.
22:15 But I'm going to get down to the poem
22:17 because I've got a clock here,
22:19 and it's no respecter of persons.
22:21 Here it is.
22:22 How much is a person worth?
22:23 Want you to think about it.
22:25 How much is a person worth?
22:28 It was battered and scarred, and the auctioneer.
22:30 Thought it scarcely worth his while.
22:33 To waste his time on the old violin,
22:37 but he held it up with a smile.
22:39 "What am I bid, good people", he cried,
22:41 "Who starts the bidding for me?"
22:43 "One dollar, one dollar, Do I hear two?"
22:46 "Two dollars, who makes it three?"
22:49 "Three dollars once, three dollars twice,
22:52 Going for three"...
22:54 but no!
22:57 From the room far back came a gray-haired man
23:01 who picked up the bow,
23:02 then wiping the dust from the old violin,
23:05 and tightening up the strings.
23:07 He played a melody, pure and sweet,
23:09 As sweet as an angel sings.
23:12 The music ceased and the auctioneer
23:14 with a voice that was soft and low, Said
23:16 "What now am I bid for the old violin?"
23:19 As he held it up with the bow.
23:21 "One thousand, one thousand, Do I hear two?"
23:24 "Two thousand, Who makes it three?"
23:26 "Three thousand once, three thousand twice,
23:28 Going and gone, " said he.
23:30 The people cheered, some of them cried,
23:34 "We just don't understand. What changed its worth?"
23:38 The man replied:
23:40 "The touch of the Master's hand."
23:43 And many a man with life out of tune,
23:45 And battered and bruised with sin,
23:48 Is auctioned cheap to a thoughtless crowd
23:51 Much like the old violin.
23:54 A "mess of pottage,"
23:55 a glass of wine, A game and he travels on,
23:58 He's going once, He's going twice,
24:01 he's going and almost gone!
24:04 But the MASTER comes,
24:07 and the foolish crowd, can never quite understand,
24:11 the worth of a soul,
24:13 and the change that's wrought
24:17 by the touch of the MASTER'S hand.
24:19 Amen.
24:22 We believe that Jesus and Jesus alone,
24:28 only Jesus is the way,
24:32 the truth, and the life.
24:36 And the church exist for one supreme purpose.
24:43 To preach the gospel of Christ,
24:46 so help us God.
24:49 Amen and amen.
24:50 Amen.
24:54 Now, I'm going to have a prayer with you.
24:58 Would you bow your heads.
25:00 Dear father, we thank you today
25:03 the Christ is the way, the truth, and the life.
25:06 We live in a world that's hurtling towards its doom.
25:10 We can see tremendous changes happening in America.
25:14 There're so many people in America
25:15 have given up on God.
25:18 And I think they've discovered freedom,
25:20 they've discovered a terrible bondage.
25:23 But we know,
25:26 every person is precious in the sight of God,
25:28 and every person can be saved.
25:31 Therefore put into the hearts of every one of us,
25:33 these people here today.
25:36 Put a fire in our bellies
25:39 and a love in our hearts.
25:43 Put conviction in our souls,
25:45 save us Lord, from being wishy-washy Christians.
25:52 And bless us as we reach out to the lost around us,
25:56 for whom Christ died.
25:59 We pray that you'll bless these precious people
26:01 here today in our studio,
26:03 we love them, dear Father, and they love you.
26:06 Bless them, we worship you and bless you today,
26:10 in Jesus' name, amen.
26:12 Amen. And amen, amen.
26:15 Hallelujah.
26:16 Thank you Jesus. Thank you.
