00:45 Welcome to "Health for a Lifetime"
00:47 I'm your host Don Mackintosh 00:48 and today, we've kind of rolled up our sleeves 00:51 We're going to look at some very practical things 00:53 and the title of today's program, Dr. McNeilus, is 00:56 "The Pharmacy in Your Kitchen" 00:58 Now you've written a book called, "God's Healing Way" 01:02 And I understand that it's in quite a few countries now, 01:05 12... is that right? 01:07 So, Spanish, now in Cambodia as well in the Khmer language, 01:12 and in Romanian, and what other languages? 01:16 Spanish, and several African dialects, Vietnamese, Laotian. 01:22 Wow, so it really does not matter where you live today, 01:26 and, as we know, this is an international program... 01:29 There's lots of people watching 01:30 in many different parts of the world. 01:32 If you have the different things that you see on the set today, 01:36 you probably can do what Dr. McNeilus has to say... 01:39 But probably more than that, there's a spiritual component. 01:42 I notice you've called it, not "Man's Healing Way" 01:44 but "GOD'S HEALING WAY" 01:45 What did you call the book this? 01:47 God has a way of healing that is akin to His way of salvation, 01:53 and we learn in Titus 2:11... That God' grace that brings 01:59 salvation has appeared to all men. 02:03 There are no boundary barriers to God's salvation. 02:07 But we learn also in III John 2, we learn that 02:13 God, "above all things, wishes that we prosper and be in health 02:19 even as our soul prospers. " 02:22 In order for God to be fair and just, 02:26 His saving way, and His healing way must be available 02:32 to all people; not just to people who have wonderful 02:36 opportunities, and medical care which we enjoy 02:41 in some parts of the world, and not in others. 02:44 It must be inexpensive. 02:46 It must be available without a lot of monetary outlay. 02:52 It must be, however, invaluable... extremely helpful. 02:58 It must be easy to understand so that no matter what 03:03 educational level, or from educational school 03:05 one comes from in the world, it is easy to understand... 03:10 And yet, like many of Christ's simple teachings, PROFOUND. 03:14 It must be simple to practice. 03:17 Available in your house, or in your kitchen. 03:21 It must, at the same time, be highly effective 03:25 for sin and sickness. 03:29 Interesting... You know I studied the 03:31 Greek words in the New Testament once, 03:32 being a pastor, and a nurse before that... 03:36 The word for salvation, as I understand is, "sozo" 03:39 which also means "heal" It's the same word. 03:41 So, I really like that fact that the salvation has 03:45 appeared to everyone same here. 03:48 Now in this book you have some... 03:49 It's kind of divided in sections 03:51 I really like how it's divided, 03:52 and it kind of deals with different aspects of the 03:56 health laws then simple home remedies... 03:58 and we want to talk today a little bit about 03:59 some of those simple home remedies. 04:01 And which ones have we fixed up in the kitchen today for us? 04:05 We have the contrast baths. 04:08 Now you want me to do something special here... 04:10 Do I need to get prepared for this. YES 04:12 Should I take off my shoes? 04:13 Let's have you take off at least 1 shoe and 1 sock 04:17 We'll say that you have an infection on one of your 04:23 feet there... You maybe have done like 04:25 some of our Amish friends... stepped on a nail out there 04:28 in the barnyard... Right there it looks like there's a 04:29 little problem there. 04:30 ...And you're getting a little bit infected and red there. 04:34 And, you know if you had to go into the hospital, 04:37 or emergency room, they would 04:38 put you on antibiotics very quickly. 04:41 And they charge me a lot of money too. 04:42 Oh, that's the problem with the Amish people. 04:45 They don't have insurance, 04:48 and so money is a problem for those in our area. 04:51 So, do I need a tetanus shot? 04:53 Well, they do not do that. Okay... 04:58 So that means that, of course, I must get busy and treat it 05:02 in a way that will be helpful. 05:06 Well, you know, the contrast bath simply means 05:09 that the water is in a contrast temperature. 05:14 At one extreme, it will be hot, in the other it will be cold. 05:18 So what do we start with? 05:20 We ALWAYS start with the hot water. 05:23 And, so that's a good rule of thumb to remember. 05:26 We start with the hot, and the hot is the longest 05:29 amount of time... It's around 3 minutes of hot 05:33 and then about 1/2 to 1 minute of cold. 05:37 Okay, so how hot is hot? 05:38 Should I... do you want to put my foot in there? 05:40 You know, this is another reason I have rolled up 05:43 MY sleeves... Okay. 05:44 Because what I tell people... 05:46 If you don't have a bath thermometer, 05:49 we'll pretend this is the one for the hot water, 05:51 and this will be the first one. 05:53 But, I want to know how hot it is. 05:54 If I use my hand, it may not be the same sensitivity 05:58 as your foot, and so I do what a lot of mothers 06:02 will do with babies... test the water with your elbow. 06:07 Oh, that's a little more sensitive, isn't it? 06:08 And if you can leave your elbow in the water, 06:12 and bit pull back, it's probably going to handle your foot. 06:16 Well so, there are some real techniques 06:18 involved here in really what you do. 06:20 Now let's say you're a diabetic, or you can't sense things 06:22 in your foot, or your extremity very well, 06:25 and it's really important then to put that elbow in. 06:27 That is correct, and this is one good reason to always 06:30 start at a bit of a more comfortable temperature, 06:34 and recognizing that if you have circulatory problems, 06:37 you will not want to go as hot as you can stand. 06:42 You may want to simply go at an elbow temperature. 06:45 So it's not best for a physician to treat themselves. 06:47 You need to have someone else maybe to help you out 06:49 especially if you have that situation. 06:51 Should I put my foot in there now? 06:52 Let's just check it here. 06:54 Well, seems like I could have just a little more warm water 07:00 ...So have a teakettle with boiling water available 07:05 that you can just pour in... a little bit more, 07:09 and then re-test. There, it's just about right! 07:14 All right, I'm going to go ahead and put it in there. 07:16 And with a small child, you may just want to 07:19 assist them to put their foot in, and ask them... 07:22 WoooWHOOO! How does that feel? 07:23 Yes... Is that pretty warm? 07:24 This feels different than it's ever felt before... ha, ha, ha 07:29 So how long then, do we keep it in here, 07:30 in the hot, did you say? 07:31 About 3 minutes. 07:33 Okay, about 3 minutes, and you just kind of 07:36 click it off there, and then what? 07:39 After 3 minutes, you will want to transfer your foot 07:44 to cool water. Cool water! 07:46 Now if you are a diabetic, again, or someone with 07:50 circulatory problems, or numbness, 07:52 you may want to just go with cool water, 07:56 not ICE COLD water. 07:58 But if you are young and vigorous, and have just simply 08:03 an infection... Like us! 08:05 We hope, yes! 08:08 Then you can have ice in your water. 08:12 And that will be plenty cold... This will really make you! 08:15 Yes! Right! 08:18 And with small children, you may want to 08:20 play a game, and pretend the ice cubes are fish, 08:23 or something like that. 08:25 And you may only go to the 1/2 minute 08:28 instead of 1 whole minute. With the kids I'm sure... 08:31 And SO, it is adapted to the vigor of the person that 08:35 you are treating, and the degree of severity 08:40 of the problem you are treating. 08:42 The more hot, or the more cold intent 08:45 will give you the healing effect. 08:46 Now, we're treating a nail; I've stepped on a nail, 08:48 is that right? Do I remember what I did? That's correct! 08:50 And so, what exactly is this doing with that nail? 08:53 How is it helping... how is this helping? 08:55 The hot brings the blood to the surface of the skin, 09:01 and the cold closes the blood flow to the surface 09:06 of the skin, and drives it inward. 09:08 So basically, we are increasing the circulation by 09:11 increasing the movement, or the flow of blood in that area. 09:15 So it's like your car gets stuck in the ditch, 09:17 and you go back and forth, and back and forth 09:18 and you finally get it out... Correct 09:20 And the reason that that is 09:22 done is for a very good physiologic reason. 09:25 When you move the blood, you are getting in your red cells 09:29 that bring oxygen, and carry away waste material 09:33 such as carbon dioxide, products of cell metabolism, 09:37 you move the plasma, the river in which the red cells travel 09:42 which brings in metabolic nutrients to the cells, 09:45 and again takes some of the waste products out. 09:48 It also brings in your white blood cells 09:51 who are the soldiers of our body. 09:53 Whenever there's an infection, they are there ready to fight 09:56 whatever germ or ailment is there... 10:00 And so we bring in the troops, we take out wastes, 10:04 we bring in nutrients, and oxygen. 10:06 So how often do we do this? 10:07 Let's say it's just your typical person stepping on a nail, 10:12 and how often should we do this 10:15 let's say over a week's period? 10:18 Do you do it every day? How often do you do it? 10:20 That's a good question because often it depends on 10:26 the severity of the problem, 10:28 and if you can catch things right away, 10:30 you don't have to do things quite as often. 10:32 But if you've had a delay in getting treatment, 10:37 then you may have to be more serious about it. 10:40 And so, what I'd recommend is anywhere from 5 to 7 changes. 10:45 And one change is 3 minutes of hot and 1/2 to 1 minute of cold 10:51 ...that's one change... 5 to 7 changes a day? 10:54 Right, I call it the "Naaman treatment" 10:57 Naaman... Oh, like you're dipping 7 times 10:59 Like Naaman dipped into the Jordan River 7 times. 11:02 We learn in the Bible that was to be the sign of his faith 11:08 for the cure of his leprosy. 11:09 It's a good story too, especially when you're 11:11 like on time 4, and you don't want to go back down anymore. 11:13 Right? Yeah right... It keeps you going. 11:15 And then, do you do that just one day, 11:17 or do you do it several days in a row? 11:19 What I may do... this treatment may be done 11:21 anywhere from once a day, to 4 times a day; 11:24 again depending on the severity of the treatment... 11:27 And it can be done until the leg or the infection 11:34 or the ailment is completely disappeared. 11:37 So I tell people do it as long as you need to, 11:40 until your condition is back to normal. 11:44 Any cautions about this? 11:45 You've done this around the world; 11:47 I'm sure that in America, or in a Western-type country, 11:51 we get our water out of the tap. 11:52 How do you pick water, 11:54 say if you're in the middle of the jungle? 11:57 We have to pick what we have, 11:59 and we may not have ice. 12:01 And, I have been in villages where I have not been able 12:04 to get ice, but there is a well 12:06 Well water is not ICE cold, but well water 12:11 is considerably cooler than the tropical air outside... 12:15 So as much of a contrast that we can get 12:18 from the hot to the cold will still give you a good result. 12:22 So would you pick running water, versus water that's 12:25 been in a... It' won't matter. 12:27 We can pick it anywhere. 12:28 But there is one thing that I always recommend to people 12:34 that is very important. 12:36 We may not have all of the resources, 12:38 but we do have one resource, and that's our 12:40 Heavenly Resource that is constant with us. 12:43 And I do always remind people to begin with prayer. 12:48 And what do I ask for? What should we ask for 12:54 when we begin with prayer? 12:56 We ask for God to bless the treatment. 13:01 We ask for His blessing. 13:02 We ask for the great physician to be present with us. 13:06 He knows the ailment, He knows the cause... 13:09 often when even an earthly physician doesn't. 13:13 But He also knows the cure. 13:15 And so we ask Him to be present to be by our side. 13:19 At the end of a treatment, I also remind people 13:23 to pray, and this is the faith part. 13:26 Thank the Lord that He blessed you with this treatment. 13:31 Don't wait until you see the result... that is not faith. 13:34 Step out in faith.. the evidence of things not seen. 13:38 Thank Him for doing that. 13:40 And faith is the currency that opens the treasury of heaven. 13:45 We're talking to Dr. Mary Ann McNeilus 13:47 What a wonderful book, and what practical, simple 13:50 but POWERFUL, and PROFOUND things can help us 13:53 no matter where we live. 13:54 When we come back, we're going to be looking at more 13:56 simple remedies that you can do in your own kitchen 13:59 with your own pharmacy, and looking 14:01 at more of God's healing way. 14:02 We hope you join us when we come back. 14:06 Have you found yourself wishing that you could shed a few pounds 14:09 Have you been on a diet for most of your life, 14:11 but not found anything that will really keep the weight off? 14:14 If you've answered "yes" to any of these questions, 14:18 then we have a solution for you that works! 14:20 Dr. Hans Diehl and Dr. Aileen Ludington 14:23 have written a marvelous booklet called... 14:25 "Reversing Obesity Naturally" 14:27 and we'd like to send it to you FREE of charge. 14:30 Here's a medically sound approach successfully used 14:33 by thousands who are able to eat more, 14:35 and lose weight permanently without feeling guilty, 14:38 or hungry through lifestyle medicine. 14:40 Dr. Diehl and Dr. Ludington have been featured on 3ABN 14:44 and in this booklet, they present a sensible approach 14:47 to eating, nutrition, and lifestyle changes 14:50 that can help you prevent heart disease, diabetes, 14:52 and even cancer. 14:54 Call or write today for your free copy of 14:56 "Reversing Obesity Naturally" 14:57 and you could be on your way to a healthier, happier you! 15:01 It's absolutely FREE of charge, so call or write today. 15:07 Welcome back... we talking with Dr. Mary Ann McNeilus 15:10 and we're talking about God's healing way, 15:11 and the pharmacy in your kitchen. 15:13 We're going to look at some practical things with... 15:16 what do we call this, charred wood? Charcoal 15:18 Charcoal, and then we're going to hear some 15:20 stories about how God has really used simple means 15:22 to heal people. What about charcoal? 15:24 What do we need to learn about it? 15:25 Very simply... charcoal is charred wood, 15:29 or wood that has been burned in the absence of air 15:33 for a prolonged period of time, 15:35 and then ground into a powder. 15:38 And, charcoal is the treatment of choice by the 15:42 American Academy of Pediatrics for poisoning in children. 15:46 But it has many other additional uses that make it a necessary 15:51 and important part of your kitchen pharmacy. 15:54 So, what about this bug bite I have here on my wrist, 15:57 is it going to help with that? 15:58 I find that charcoal put on the skin as a poultice, 16:02 is a wonderful complement to the hot and cold contrast bath 16:06 that we just talked about for an infection... 16:10 And, I am going to make a charcoal poultice 16:13 first by making a little charcoal paste, 16:16 and that is by adding a little bit of water 16:18 to our charcoal powder until it's about the consistency 16:23 of a thick paste or like peanut butter, something like that. 16:28 You probably don't want to do this in your blender... 16:30 You might not want to because certainly charcoal, 16:34 as you can almost see from the picture here, 16:38 can poof... that is, it's such a fine powder that 16:42 any vigorous stirring will cause you to have charcoal 16:47 in many other places than where you desired it to be. 16:51 You can get this probably as liquid charcoal, as I recall, 16:55 but you can make your own too. 16:57 Yes, and this is the way... the charcoal will keep 17:00 indefinitely on your kitchen shelf. 17:03 Just keep it in a closed container, and it will keep 17:08 for a very prolonged period of time. 17:10 You don't want to leave it open because charcoal 17:12 has a wonderful property of absorbing poisons 17:19 such as toxins, gases, even bacteria and viruses. 17:25 So anything that's next to it, it will absorb 17:28 so you want to keep it closed up... It will absorb. 17:31 So you like to keep it closed, 17:32 but it's an inert substance, and so it will keep at a very 17:36 indefinite period of time. 17:37 It's a very nice thing to keep around... 17:41 Just find a source for getting it, 17:44 and keep a container or 2 around your home... 17:47 and also for sharing with others. 17:49 It has many wonderful uses as explained in 17:52 "God's Healing Way" in a chapter on charcoal. 17:55 It can be used for infections. 17:59 It can be used for bug bites... 18:02 Then you have a little piece of paper or whatever 18:04 you have there... 18:06 Well, one very easy way to make a poultice, 18:08 is either with a loosely woven cloth, or if you are where 18:12 there are paper towels, you can use a paper towel. 18:16 And, a simple poultice can be either made with a 18:21 paper towel, loosely woven cloth and a piece of plastic 18:26 which I have down here. 18:29 And I'm going to put that on the table first, 18:31 and then I'm going to decide 18:33 what size I want my charcoal poultice. 18:36 I want it to well-cover an area on either side 18:42 of an infected area... 18:43 because the body will have inflammation in areas 18:48 even where it is around the area that is not showing. 18:52 Inflammation or infection, usually means 18:54 there's redness, swelling, pain... 18:56 Good for a spider bite, good for a snake bite, 18:58 good for any kind of situation? 19:00 Yes, good for scorpion if you're in an area as we have been 19:05 in some parts of the world where scorpions are 19:07 in some parts of the United States where they are. 19:09 Any noxious substance, or critter can be helped 19:16 and there are directions on how to use it for these things. 19:19 But we're going to say that you have an 19:22 infected bug bite here, with some pain and swelling. 19:28 So once I put this poultice on, how long do I keep it on? 19:32 You can keep it on for several hours, 19:36 or overnight, and you may replace it. 19:42 It can be used often, and in conjunction, as I said, 19:45 with hot and cold water treatments such as 19:47 the contrast bath, and it can be left on until 19:53 you do your next treatment, or overnight. 19:56 Well I've spread this on here it's like the jelly of a 20:00 sandwich, and we'll say that these pieces 20:03 of paper are the... The bread The bread. Oh good! 20:07 And we spread it within about an inch or so 20:10 of the outer rim there, so we don't spill out. 20:14 And, let's see here, now you can see we have our little 20:18 sandwich here... And you're going to put that on my wrist 20:22 AND we're going to put it right over the center of this swollen 20:26 painful... Feels better already! 20:28 It DOES! Often it can be almost miraculous. 20:32 And THEN I put a piece of plastic on top, 20:35 and the purpose of this is to keep the charcoal from 20:38 getting out onto things which it can stain, 20:41 but also to keep it from drying out... 20:45 And then I may want to hold it in place with elastic wrap, 20:51 or just any type of a cloth or binding material. 20:54 And so then I can just simply wrap this around and 20:58 pin it in place, pin it securely so that the 21:01 poultice does not move, 21:02 and then you can leave it on for several hours or overnight. 21:05 Change it periodically as the condition warrants. 21:12 Now you showed me a picture a little picture earlier 21:14 of you doing this type of treatment. 21:15 Where was it that you did that? 21:16 In the country of Romania... Can we look at that picture? 21:20 I had an interesting experience... 21:23 One summer, we were going around to different churches 21:27 groups, and teaching natural remedies. 21:29 The gentleman in this picture, whose hand is seen here, 21:35 had about a month before, been working and 21:40 had gotten something he knew into hand. 21:45 He didn't know if it was a sliver, or just what the 21:47 nature of the fibrous material was... 21:49 but the doctor assured him there was no way to go in it 21:53 and retrieve it, and he suffered for about 4 weeks with 21:59 with some tenderness, and swelling, 22:02 and the physician felt eventually it would 22:04 fester and come out. 22:05 Well, my Romanian friends that were with me decided 22:10 to do a natural remedy treatment that evening 22:13 before we were going to have our natural remedy seminar 22:18 the following day, and that evening, 22:19 he did a hot and cold contrast bath just as we did 22:23 Earlier... hot for what was it, 3 minutes, cold for 1-1/2 22:27 ...1/2 to 1 minute Oh, well okay, it's in the book 22:31 For about 7 changes, and then he put on a charcoal poultice 22:35 and the gentleman went to bed. 22:38 The next morning, when he got up, 22:40 he noticed that there was a little bit of a protrusion 22:44 on the skin surface there. 22:46 And my Romanian helper just kind of pushed/pressed 22:52 ever so slightly, and out popped a large sliver 22:57 that was at least an inch long which you see in the picture 23:02 and the charcoal, and with the hot and cold contrast bath, 23:06 worked very well to finish what had been festering 23:11 in there for some time. 23:13 Well, needless to say, my Romanian friend was 23:16 more than happy to share with others that wonderful experience 23:21 However, I would also like to share one final story that 23:25 comes from the work with the Amish people in my area. 23:29 One Friday evening, just after we moved into our 23:33 new home health retreat, in Southeastern Minnesota, 23:38 I was paid a visit with a horse and buggy from 23:42 our close Amish neighbors. 23:44 It was the mother with about 4 of her 10 children... 23:47 came over, and I thought how nice... they were coming 23:50 just to welcome us... and so I showed them around 23:53 our new facility, and as I got to the treatment room, 23:56 the mother suddenly pulled up the sleeve of 24:00 her little 6-year-old daughter. 24:02 ...And to my HORROR, I realized the true cause of her visit. 24:08 The story was that this little girl had gotten an 24:11 insignificant nick in her finger or on her hand, 24:16 3 or 4 days before, but by now, she had pain and swelling 24:20 from her entire hand, really up to her elbow. 24:24 And she had what we commonly call "blood poisoning" 24:27 or a septicemia, or an infection where the bacteria 24:32 had gone not just from the local area, but was starting 24:35 to spread through her body. See some red lines up her arm. 24:37 Exactly, and very painful; she had not slept for several days. 24:41 But all this time, she had not made any noise, 24:44 or any crying, or anything, but it did hurt. 24:48 Well I saw immediately that we needed to 24:51 work on the kitchen table, and so my kitchen table was 24:54 initiated with 2 basins, 1 with hot and 1 with cold water. 24:58 Contrast bath. We did the contrast bath. 25:01 Now if any of you know when something is swollen and painful 25:05 it does not always feel the best to put it in hot water. 25:08 But the mother admonished her little girl... 25:10 "Don't whimper. You do the treatment. " 25:13 3 minutes of hot, 1/2 minute of cold... 7 changes 25:18 And then of course, I would not let them go home until 25:21 I had applied a charcoal poultice to the entire hand 25:26 up past the elbow, and encased her whole little arm 25:30 and hand in a charcoal poultice. 25:32 How old was she? She was about 6. 25:34 And so, then they went home with directions to continue 25:38 that treatment and plenty of charcoal to make a poultice 25:42 and to continue with that. 25:43 The next morning, I was able to stop by the home 25:47 and discovered she has slept for the first time 25:50 quite peacefully that night. 25:52 And it was only a matter of 3 or 4 days, and her infection 25:56 was pretty well completely gone without the need 26:00 to go in and get antibiotics, or a physician visit 26:04 which certain would have had to happen if her mother had not 26:07 been made aware of some very effective simple home remedies 26:11 all with the power of prayer, of course. 26:15 So these simple remedies that we've looked at really, 26:18 the contrast bath today, and then also charcoal... 26:21 anybody can do those, and really just to summarize it, 26:27 see if I'm correct, that contrast bath takes the water in 26:31 or takes the object in and out, kind of dislodges it 26:34 and the charcoal kind of finishes the job with all 26:38 the different toxins and poisons that are around... 26:39 Isn't that right? Basically what it does is 26:42 the contrast baths moves the body circulation, 26:45 which brings in its own natural methods of healing... 26:49 The white blood cells, the nutrients that the body needs 26:52 to fight the infection, and the substances are drawn out 26:56 through the absorptive power of the charcoal. 27:00 We're talking about "God's Healing Way" 27:02 with Dr. Mary Ann McNeilus 27:04 and really, probably the most powerful thing we've 27:08 talked about today is not the charcoal, 27:09 it's not the contrast bath... 27:11 it's probably prayer... Would you agree with that? 27:13 I agree. 27:14 And so, starting each treatment no matter WHAT treatment it is, 27:19 with prayer and then stepping out in faith, 27:22 I believe that you said, at the end of that treatment. 27:25 If you've been interested in today's program, 27:27 and would like more information about this book, 27:30 "God's Healing Way" 27:31 please contact 3ABN, and we can get you information 27:35 how to get in touch with Dr. Mary Ann McNeilus 27:37 I believe that Dr. McNeilus does seminars, 27:40 and different things; also teaching different groups 27:42 and has a real ministry with many different people. 27:44 We hope today's program has helped you, 27:46 and then as a result of it, you can use the pharmacy 27:49 in your kitchen to avoid problems or prevent problems 27:52 or reverse them if you have them, and that you can 27:55 as a result, have health that lasts for a lifetime. |
