00:14 Welcome to the 2020 Secrets Unsealed Yearly Summit. 00:19 We thank all of you for attending. 00:21 We know that right now our world is a little bit upside down 00:25 but God has blessed us with the technology 00:28 so that even though we're separated by space, 00:31 we can still fellowship one with another. 00:34 Before we begin this message, 00:37 I want to open with a word from Daniel chapter 12... 00:42 Daniel chapter 12 verses 1 through 3, 00:45 I'm just going to quote a little bit of this, 00:47 The Lord tells us that at that time, 00:51 shall Michael stand up, 00:53 that great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: 00:58 and there shall be a time of trouble, 01:01 such as never was since there was a nation 01:05 even to that same time: 01:07 and at that time thy people shall be delivered, 01:11 every one that shall be found written in the book. 01:16 And they that be wise 01:19 shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; 01:23 and they that turn many to righteousness 01:26 shall shine as the stars for ever and ever. 01:30 Let's open with a word of prayer. 01:34 "Father in heaven, we ask that You will bless 01:37 each of us now as we open Your Word. 01:40 Cause us to hear Your voice 01:42 and to see the high calling You have on our lives. 01:46 In Jesus' name we thank You, amen. " 01:50 Pause... 01:54 The Lord's servant tells us, 01:56 "If you would stand through the time of trouble, 02:00 we must know Christ, 02:03 and appropriate the gift of His righteousness. " 02:07 To know Christ is not simply to know about Him. 02:11 It's not simply to have facts or doctrines 02:15 about our Savior 02:16 but to know Him intimately 02:19 as a husband knows his wife and they become one. 02:23 The Lord's servant says, "We must know Christ 02:28 and appropriate the gift of His righteousness. " 02:32 A gift is something that is given 02:35 with no expectation of return. 02:38 It's not something that's earned... 02:40 it's not something that's worked hard for... 02:42 it's given 02:44 and we must appropriate this... 02:46 that means reckon it to be ours. 02:49 This righteousness... Jesus imputes to the repentant sinner. 02:54 For the truth as it is in Jesus 02:58 is the only means by which a man may be saved. 03:03 It's the only way a person can be healed 03:06 or delivered or set free. 03:08 Then she says, "Through the Word of God, 03:13 man is privileged to connect with Christ, 03:18 and then the Divine and the human combine... 03:24 and in this union the hope or assurance of man 03:30 must rest alone...!" 03:31 When we become one with Jesus, 03:35 everything that is His is ours 03:38 because we're His bride. 03:40 Pause... 03:43 "The time of test is just upon us. " 03:46 We can see in our world right now 03:49 all the chaos that's happening... 03:51 with rioting and civil unrest 03:53 and financial problems and... and with pandemics... 03:58 we see all this 04:00 and it's a sign for us to seek the Lord... it's a wake-up call. 04:04 On screen... 04:22 Many times we think about the loud cry... 04:26 it's us yelling at people, "You've got to do this 04:29 and you've got to do that 04:30 and we're trying our very best to... 04:33 to get people to do what's right 04:35 but the only way a person can even desire to do what's right 04:41 is if they first know that their Savior really loves them... 04:46 that their Father in heaven really loves them. 04:48 Ellen White says, "This is the beginning 04:53 of that light of the angel 04:56 whose glory shall fill the whole earth... " 04:59 Right now, even on my trip here to be at this Summit with you, 05:03 I saw thousands of people in the airports 05:07 and the question kept ringing through my mind, 05:11 "How many of them know that Jesus is real? 05:15 How many of them know that He's about to return?" 05:19 Pause... 05:24 Haggai chapter 2... listen to what the Lord tells us, 05:28 "For thus saith the Lord of hosts; 05:32 yet once, in... but a little while... 05:35 I will shake the heavens, and the earth, 05:39 and the sea, 05:40 and the dry land... " 05:42 We all know that before Christ returns, 05:45 a shaking is going to take place 05:47 and in our next message, we're going to look at this closely 05:51 but I want you to hear what the... 05:53 what the Bible says about this... 05:55 God says, "I will shake all nations... " 05:58 that even means, all Denominations... 06:02 "And the desire of all nations shall come... " 06:07 Do you know what the desire of all nations has been 06:11 since Adam and Eve fell in Eden? 06:13 It's for God to dwell inside of them again. 06:18 Adam and Eve had God almighty living inside them. 06:23 That's why they were glowing... 06:25 they were wearing robes of light. 06:26 That light was not something that the Lord put around them, 06:31 it was rather because He was in them that they were glowing 06:36 and that message... that verse in Daniel chapter 12 06:41 that we just read, it says, 06:42 "They that turn many to righteousness 06:45 will shine like the sun... 06:48 like the brightness of the firmament. 06:50 The reason that God's people are going to literally 06:54 shine like that 06:55 is because they will have God and Christ 07:00 dwelling fully within them. 07:03 The Lord goes on and says, 07:06 "And I will fill this house... your bodies... 07:10 with glory, saith the Lord of hosts 07:13 and the glory of this latter house 07:15 shall be greater than of the former... 07:19 and in this place I will give peace, 07:22 saith the Lord of hosts. " 07:24 Pause... 07:26 I want to encourage you... take time this weekend... 07:29 read one page in "Desire of Ages" 07:32 it's page 161... 07:33 you will never be the same after you read it... 07:36 Desire of Ages page 161... 07:39 On screen... 07:57 We were created to be the temple of God. 08:02 The Apostle Paul tells us that numerous times 08:06 in the letters to the Corinthians... 08:07 "Don't you realize... your body is the temple of God?" 08:11 But then we're told that because of sin, 08:16 humanity ceased to be a temple for God... 08:20 "Darkened and defiled by evil, 08:25 the heart of man no longer revealed the glory of God... " 08:31 Many times when people think about 08:34 Christ dwelling in the heart, 08:36 they say, "Well, that's the mind... " 08:37 and unfortunately, often, we as Christians... 08:41 we have... we have limited knowing God 08:48 to an intellectual experience 08:50 but the Bible says in Proverbs, 08:52 God speaks to you and I and says, 08:55 "My son... my daughter... give me thine heart. " 09:00 Your heart is the seat of your affections. 09:03 It's not just you intellectually knowing in your head 09:06 what's right... 09:08 your affections have got to be surrendered to God 09:11 and the only way that you can love God 09:15 whom you've not seen physically, 09:17 is if you first know that He really genuinely loves you. 09:23 God designed that the temple at Jerusalem 09:27 should be a continual witness... pay attention to that word... 09:32 the temple at Jerusalem was a witness 09:36 to the high destiny open to every soul. 09:40 The temple at Jerusalem was not the substance... 09:44 it was a shadow that was pointing 09:47 to the high destiny open to every soul 09:51 but the Jews... and you can put your own name in there... 09:55 that's us... 09:57 had not understood the significance 10:00 of the building they regarded with so much pride. 10:05 They did not yield themselves as holy temples 10:09 for the Divine Spirit. 10:12 Revelation chapter 14... 10:15 we're going to spend some time here 10:17 because the hour of His judgment is come. 10:21 This is the theme for this... this Summit this year. 10:26 In Revelation chapter 14 verses 6 through 7, 10:30 it says, "I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, 10:34 having the everlasting gospel 10:36 to proclaim to them that dwell on the earth, 10:40 to every nation, and kindred, and tongue and people, 10:44 and he said with a loud voice, 10:47 'Fear God, and give glory to him... '" 10:53 that literally means, 10:56 if something miraculous has happened in your life, 10:59 God gets the glory. 11:01 If you're able to sing... 11:03 if you're able to read or understand 11:06 or work on a car or whatever you can do, 11:09 God gets the glory... not you... not I. 11:12 "Give glory to God, for the hour of His judgment is come. " 11:20 Pause... 11:24 Review and Herald, April 1, 1890... 11:28 we are told... 11:30 "Several have written to me, 11:32 inquiring if the message of justification by faith 11:37 is the third angel's message... " 11:39 and Ellen White answered, 11:41 "It is the third angel's message in verity. 11:46 The prophet declares, 11:48 'I saw another angel come down from heaven, 11:52 having great power; 11:53 and the earth was lightened with his glory. ' 11:56 Brightness, glory, and power 11:59 are to be connected with the third angel's message, 12:02 and conviction will follow 12:05 wherever it is preached 12:07 in the demonstration of the Holy Spirit. " 12:11 It's not just words that people need, 12:15 it's not just facts... 12:16 they have to have the facts shared with them 12:20 in a way that will change their life. 12:22 On screen. 12:35 This was written in 1890... 12:37 1888 we had the General Conference in Minneapolis, 12:41 Jones and Waggoner were two of the prominent speakers 12:46 and they shared a message 12:47 that our church had never heard like this before. 12:51 It was the message of righteousness by faith 12:53 and being a Seventh-day Adventist Christian, 12:56 what has... has been a struggle for me to comprehend 13:02 is that we could not understand it. 13:05 We rejected the message of righteousness by faith... 13:09 and do you know what was so scary? 13:11 The majority of the people that rejected it... 13:15 they said that "righteousness by faith" 13:18 was being presented in a way 13:19 that looked like we were doing away with the Law of God 13:23 pause... 13:24 and that was not so. 13:26 It was showing that man can't keep the law 13:30 without God being inside of him. 13:34 Pause... 13:37 Ellen White goes on and says, 13:38 "What is justification by faith?" 13:42 And I'm going to pause there for a moment 13:45 because many of us, if you're like me, 13:47 we have grown up with these two terms. 13:49 Justification and Sanctification 13:53 and Justification happened at Calvary... 13:56 but Sanctification is the work of a lifetime. 13:59 How many people have heard that before? 14:01 I know I have... 14:02 but I want to show you 14:04 what the Bible and what Ellen White 14:06 reveal about this. 14:07 Justification and Sanctification took place in Christ Jesus 14:14 2000 years ago... 14:15 the reason it's the work of a lifetime is... 14:20 we have to appropriate His life as ours 14:23 every moment for the rest of our lives. 14:27 Pause... 14:29 "What is justification by faith? 14:31 It is the work of God... " 14:33 it's not the work of man... 14:35 "It is the work of God in laying the glory of man in the dust, 14:41 and doing for you and I 14:43 that which it is not possible for us to do for ourselves. 14:47 None but God can subdue the pride of man's heart. 14:54 We cannot save ourselves. " 14:58 The word "save" or "salvation" it has five basic meanings... 15:04 rescue, deliver and heal, restore, rescue... 15:08 oftentimes I have people that will tell me, 15:12 "Well, God gave us the health message 15:14 so we could be healthy. " 15:15 Well, we cannot save ourselves... 15:19 we cannot heal ourselves. 15:21 There's many of us that say, "Well, I can heal myself 15:24 if I do this, this and this... 15:26 or if I take this herb 15:27 or if I drink this... 15:29 or if I eat this... " 15:30 I believe in our health message 15:34 but I want to share something with you, 15:35 the Lord's servant told us 15:38 that the primary purpose for the health message 15:42 was to allow our minds to be clear 15:46 so that we could understand and appropriate 15:49 righteousness by faith alone. 15:52 Pause... 15:54 "We cannot save ourselves. 15:56 We cannot regenerate ourselves. 15:59 In the heavenly courts there will be no songs sung 16:03 'To me that loved myself, and washed myself, 16:06 to me that redeemed myself, 16:09 unto me be glory and honor, and blessing and praise. ' 16:13 But this is the keynote of the song 16:18 that is sung by many here in this world today. 16:22 They do not know what it means to be meek and lowly in heart" 16:28 that means... humble and dependent. 16:30 "And they do not mean to know this if they can avoid it. 16:35 The whole gospel is comprised in learning of Christ 16:40 and His meekness and lowliness. " 16:42 Do you know that Jesus said over and over again 16:45 in the gospels, "I can do nothing of Myself... 16:48 everything that I do is My Father in Me that does it. " 16:53 Pause... 16:56 "Then said Jesus, 'When ye have lifted up the Son of Man, 17:02 then ye shall know that I am... '" 17:06 that was the name of Yahweh... 17:09 "and that I do nothing of Myself... " 17:12 Do you remember the Jewish Leaders? 17:15 When they saw what Pilate had written over Jesus' cross, 17:20 he wrote on there, 17:21 "Jesus of Nazareth... King of the Jews. " 17:25 Do you know that when you take that phrase... 17:28 and it was written in Hebrew... in Greek and in Latin... 17:32 when you take that phrase in Hebrew, 17:34 the first letter of each of the Hebrew words is: YHWH. 17:40 The Jewish Leaders came to Pilate... 17:43 they said, "Don't put that on the cross" 17:45 it literally said... they could see it, 17:48 it said, Yahweh... Yehovah... Jehovah... 17:50 however you want to pronounce it... 17:52 they were so upset because when they put that... 17:56 when Pilate put that plaque above Jesus' head, 17:59 he was literally declaring to the Jews, 18:04 "This is Yahweh... " 18:06 pause... 18:10 Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, 18:13 then ye shall know that I am... and that I do nothing of Myself; 18:19 for I and my Father are one. " 18:23 John chapter 14 verses 10 and 11, 18:27 Jesus explains this even better, He says, 18:30 "Believe Me... 18:31 that I am in the Father, 18:34 and that the Father is in Me: 18:37 or else believe Me for the very works' sake. 18:40 You see the miracles I'm doing... 18:43 For the words I speak unto you, 18:46 I speak not of myself 18:48 but the Father that dwelleth in Me, 18:51 He is doing the works. " 18:54 The whole question of righteousness by faith 18:59 comes down to this, 19:00 Man's work... versus the work of Almighty God. 19:04 Do you remember when Jesus came down on Mount Sinai 19:08 and His Father was there with Him? 19:10 And Jesus proclaimed His Law to Israel... 19:14 and do you know what their response was in Exodus 19? 19:17 "Everything that You have said, we will do... " 19:22 and it didn't last for 40 days. 19:26 God tells us in Ezekiel 36 verses 22 to 36, 19:33 "Everything that I have spoken, 19:36 I will do... if you will only open the door of your heart 19:41 and let me come in. " 19:43 Pause... 19:44 On screen... 19:59 Pay attention to that phrase, "Pattern. " 20:01 Moses was told when he was making the tabernacle... 20:06 a tent... "Make everything according to the pattern 20:10 that I showed you in the Mount. " 20:12 Pause... 20:16 "Moses was full of zeal to do God's work; 20:18 and the most talented men were at hand 20:21 to carry out his suggestions. 20:22 Yet he was not to make a bell, a pomegranate, 20:26 a tassel, a fringe, a curtain, 20:29 or any vessel of the sanctuary... 20:31 except according to the Pattern shown him. 20:35 God called Moses into the Mount and revealed to him 20:41 the heavenly things. " 20:43 I'm not saying that there's not a temple in heaven... 20:46 so, please don't misunderstand me 20:47 but what I am saying is is the heavenly things 20:51 that Moses was shown the pattern of... 20:53 was something more than just a physical temple. 20:58 "God covered Moses with His own glory, 21:02 so that he might see the Pattern, 21:05 and according to it... " the pattern... 21:09 "all things were made. 21:10 So to Israel, whom He desired to make His dwelling place, 21:15 He had revealed His glorious ideal of character. 21:19 But Israel had not... " excuse me... 21:22 "But Israel had chosen their own ways. 21:26 They had not builded according to the Pattern: 21:29 But Christ... the True Temple for God's indwelling, 21:36 molded every detail of His earthly life 21:39 in harmony with God's ideal. 21:42 Jesus said, 'I delight to do Thy will, O My God: 21:46 yeah, Thy law is within My heart. ' 21:50 So our characters are to be builded 21:54 'for a habitation of God through the Spirit. ' 21:59 And we are to make all things according to the Pattern... 22:04 even Him Who 'suffered for us... '" 22:09 When Moses went into the Mount to receive the Law of God, 22:15 do you know that the Bible tells us 22:17 and Ellen White confirms it 22:19 that Christ came down physically and ate not only with Moses 22:28 but also with the 70 Elders. 22:30 The pattern that Moses was shown was Jesus. 22:35 God told him, "I want you to build a tent 22:40 and a temple one day under David and Solomon 22:44 that will be a picture of My Son. " 22:47 1st paragraph on screen... 23:09 "And in the deep mystery of the inner place... 23:13 the holiest of all... 23:16 above the mercy seat, 23:18 between the figures of the bowed, worshiping angels 23:21 was the glory of the Holiest. " 23:24 Do you know if we look at a picture of the Sanctuary, 23:28 there were two tabernacles... 23:30 the first tabernacle was called the Holy Place... 23:33 it was also known in the Old Testament 23:36 as the Tabernacle of the Congregation. 23:38 The Most Holy Place was the Tabernacle of the Most High. 23:44 So, here you had the congregation 23:47 and here you had: Almighty God 23:49 and there was a veil that separated between them. 23:52 That veil had the sins of Israel 23:55 through the blood of the sacrifices 23:57 sprinkled on it almost every single day. 24:01 What's amazing is... is that 24:04 the place where God dwelt was called: Most Holy. 24:08 The place of His people was called: Holy. 24:12 Do you know in the Old Testament 24:14 in Leviticus chapter 11 24:16 and 1st Peter repeats it. 24:18 He says, "Be ye therefore holy as I am holy. " 24:23 It was God's purpose that the congregation 24:28 would be like Him. 24:31 Pause... 24:36 "In all these... " 24:38 the sanctuary and all the furnishings of the sanctuary, 24:42 "God desired that His people should read the purpose... 24:46 His purpose for the human soul... " 24:50 He says, "Know ye not that you are the temple of God, 24:55 and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" 24:58 I challenge you... 25:00 for the next week when you get up in the morning, 25:03 instead of just simply begging God to give you His Spirit, 25:07 thank Him for doing so 25:10 and then stand up and spend the rest of your day 25:13 walking... knowing that He is in you. 25:17 1st paragraph on screen... 25:36 When the law was given from Sinai 25:38 and the sacrificial system was given in case of failure, 25:42 God was revealing His character to Israel. 25:46 His law showed: "This is what it looks like 25:49 for a son and daughter of God to live... 25:52 this is what it looks like for God to dwell 25:55 inside of a man and woman... 25:57 but this ideal 26:00 they were in themselves powerless to attain. " 26:03 2nd Paragraph on screen... 26:26 There's a verse in Acts chapter 17, 26:30 I want you to turn there with me... 26:33 this is important. 26:35 Acts chapter 17 verse 31, 26:39 pause... 26:42 it says, 26:43 verse on screen... 26:56 When I was young, I used to do a lot of drafting, 27:01 I love drafting... in High School 27:03 and I loved working on the Drafting Board 27:06 and drawing all the detailed architecture 27:09 and the different structures 27:11 and what would happen is... at the end of each year, 27:13 our teacher... our professor would come in 27:17 and he would give us a written description 27:20 of what we were supposed to draw... 27:23 do you understand? A written description... 27:26 so, all we had was a written description 27:28 and we would sit there and try to interpret 27:31 the written description 27:33 and we would draw out exactly what we thought 27:36 the description was showing. 27:38 At the end of the year, 27:40 he would come through on Test Day 27:43 and he would bring a transparency... 27:46 Do you know that I'm talking about? 27:49 Those old things that we would use on the overhead projector... 27:52 a transparency... 27:53 it's a clear plastic sheet that had the exact pattern... 27:59 the perfect replica 28:02 of what we were supposed to be drawing. 28:04 So, I would have my drawing... 28:06 each of us on our drafting board 28:07 and he would come over and he would smile us 28:10 and ask us how we felt we did 28:12 and we would say, "I really did well... " 28:13 and he would say, "Well, let's find out... " 28:15 he would lay the transparency on top of our drawing 28:22 and if the drawing matched the pattern exactly, 28:26 do you know what that's called in drafting? 28:31 They would say, "The print is now justified... 28:36 it's exactly as the pattern. " 28:40 Hallelujah... 28:42 God has appointed a day in which He will judge the world 28:47 in righteousness... in the Lord Jesus Christ 28:51 by that Man whom He hath ordained. 28:54 He's going to look at you and I and say, 28:56 "Let me see what your life looks like... 28:59 well, what do I judge it by?" 29:01 By the Word... 29:03 but not just simply the Word written on pages of a book... 29:10 by the Word... Jesus Christ 29:13 and then He tells us something. 29:15 "Whereof God has given assurance unto all of us 29:23 in that He raised Christ from the dead. 29:27 For this is His name whereby He shall be called: 29:32 The Lord our Righteousness. " 29:35 Jesus was delivered for our offenses... 29:41 our side slip... our errors... 29:43 our willful transgression, rebellion and apostasy... 29:48 and He was raised again for our justification. 29:53 The Apostle Paul goes on in Romans 5:1 and says, 29:58 "Therefore... " you and I put your name in there... 30:03 "Therefore" Eric William Wilson, or John or Susan, 30:07 or Bethany, or Tom... 30:09 "Therefore being now justified by faith, 30:15 we have peace with God 30:19 through our Lord Jesus Christ. " 30:21 Amen. 30:22 Now, I want to show you something that really, really 30:26 I will never forget. 30:29 God told me something one day when I was studying 30:33 the subject of Righteousness by Faith 30:36 and Justification... 30:37 and I had all these thoughts... 30:39 the things I had been told in the past 30:41 and the Lord said, 30:42 "Eric, why don't you do what the pioneers did? 30:44 Instead of simply relying 30:46 on what other men and women have written, 30:49 why not go to my Word and see what I said. " 30:52 And I looked up every time the word "Justification" 30:55 and "Justified" is used in the Old and New Testament 30:59 and this is the consolidation of all the meanings. 31:02 On screen... 31:16 Pause... 31:20 Righteousness by faith... 31:22 many of us... it's like a... it's like a theological idea, 31:28 like sanctification and justification... 31:31 people are like, "Why don't you just make it simple? 31:33 I'm simple... I want it simple. " 31:35 And God said, "What is righteousness by faith?" 31:39 And I was like, "I... I know the term... 31:42 I know people that talked about it 31:44 and shared about it 31:46 but I don't grasp fully what that means. " 31:49 And the Lord said, "Well, what is faith?" 31:53 "Faith is the substance of things hoped for... 31:56 things you've been given assurance and confidence in... " 32:00 but it also says in Romans 10, "Faith comes by hearing 32:04 and hearing by the Word of God. " 32:06 So, righteousness by faith is literally: 32:11 Righteousness by the Word of Almighty God! 32:15 Pause... 32:19 Isaiah chapter 63 verse 1, 32:21 I want you to look at this and do not forget this, 32:24 Isaiah 63 verse 1, 32:26 it says... speaking of our Savior, 32:29 "Who is this that cometh from Edom?" 32:32 Edom means red... that's where the... the Edomite's came from, 32:37 "Who is this that cometh from Edom? 32:40 with dyed garments from Bozrah... " 32:43 the word "Bozrah" is the sheepfold. 32:47 "Who is this that commeth... red... 32:50 with dyed garments from the sheepfold? 32:54 He that is glorious in His apparel, 32:58 and traveling in the greatness of His strength?" 33:01 It's Jesus... and listen to what He says, 33:05 "I that speak in righteousness Am Mighty to save...!" 33:11 God does not do righteousness... He speaks it. 33:16 He speaks things and makes them right. 33:21 Pause... 33:23 The Bible says, "And the Word... " 33:25 the promise of God... "was made flesh, 33:27 and dwelt among us, 33:29 and we beheld His glory... " 33:32 remember God wanted the glory of the latter house 33:36 to be greater than the former. 33:37 "We beheld His glory... 33:39 the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father... " 33:44 that's how that glory is restored to us... 33:48 you must be begotten and born again. 33:52 The Apostle Paul prays for us 33:57 in Philippians chapter 3 verses 8 and 9, 33:59 he says, "I pray that we may be found in Him... in Jesus... 34:05 not having my own righteousness which is through the law, 34:10 but that which is through the faith of Christ... " 34:16 not simply faith in Him... but the faith of Him... 34:22 there's a verse in Revelation 14, 34:24 it says, "Here are they that keep the commandments of God 34:27 and they have the faith of Jesus. " 34:31 The only way that I can have Jesus' faith 34:36 is if I am in Him and He is in me. 34:40 If Christ is in me, that means, His wisdom is my wisdom... 34:46 His righteousness is my righteousness... 34:49 His faith is my faith... 34:51 "Yeah, the righteousness which is of God... 34:56 by the faith of Christ. " 34:59 Pause... 35:02 Listen to this quote, 35:04 on screen... 35:21 And I told the Lord when I read this for the first time, 35:24 I said, "God... " 35:26 because I'm there at the house and I'm by myself 35:28 and I talked to Him out loud 35:29 because I know He likes to hear my voice 35:31 just like I greatly desire and long to hear His voice each day. 35:35 I said, "Lord, that's what I'm working toward, 35:39 I want perfect obedience, I'm trying... " 35:43 and God smiled... 35:46 and then he showed me in a split second in my mind, 35:51 a parable... 35:52 I went down to UPS... 35:55 I wanted to get a job there because I make good money, 35:58 I'm still doing ministry 35:59 but I wanted a job there that would provide insurance, 36:02 they make good money especially drivers... 36:04 UPS Truck drivers have got solid jobs 36:07 so, I go down there 36:09 and I tell them, "I'm here to apply for a job" 36:11 and they said, "What position do you like?" 36:12 And I said, "I want to be a driver. " 36:14 And they say, "Well, you'll have to start off loading the trucks" 36:17 I said, "That's fine... that's fine... 36:18 but I'm 51... I don't want to be loading the truck 36:20 for the rest of my life, I want to be a driver... " 36:22 that's where the money is... 36:24 they said, "Fill all this information out" 36:26 so, I filled the application out and turned everything in 36:29 and there was a question on there, 36:31 "Do you have a perfect driving record?" 36:34 I'm thinking, "Man, when was the last time I got a ticket?" 36:36 That was ten years ago... 36:38 I paid the ticket... I paid the fine... 36:40 I've got a perfect driving record... " 36:42 and I went home confident I had the job. 36:45 and remember this is a parable... 36:48 the next morning or two days later, 36:51 I get a phone call from UPS and I'm excited... 36:54 I'm expecting them to ask me to come to work 36:56 and the lady says, "Mr. Wilson... " 36:59 I said, "Yes, Ma'am... " 37:00 she says, "We have to regretfully tell you that 37:04 we cannot accept your application... " 37:05 and I said, "Why?" 37:07 She said, "You lied on the application. " 37:10 I said, "No, I didn't where did I lie?" 37:12 She said, "Right here on line such and such... 37:15 line A 23... Do you have a perfect driving record? 37:18 You answered, 'Yes... ' 37:20 and we did a check on your driving record 37:22 and ten years ago, you had a fine 37:25 for breaking the speed limit. " 37:26 I said, "Yes, but it was paid for. " 37:29 Just because it's forgiven and paid for 37:32 does not mean you never did it. 37:34 A perfect record means... you never did it. 37:38 Pause... 37:41 None of us can have that record... 37:43 only if Christ is in us is His record made ours. 37:50 On screen... 1st paragraph 38:03 There's not one person that's watching or here today 38:06 that can say, "I have unblemished righteousness. " 38:09 2nd paragraph on screen... 38:30 In order to be candidates for heaven, 38:33 we must meet the requirement of the law 38:36 and Jesus answered what the requirement of the law was... 38:39 2nd paragraph on screen... 38:54 has anybody done that today? 38:56 I mean "all" you've not withheld anything 38:58 even for one moment from Him... 39:00 and you also must love your neighbor 39:04 as much as you love yourself. 39:06 Ellen White says, "We can do this 39:10 only as we grasp by faith the righteousness of Christ. " 39:16 "In order to meet the requirements of the law, 39:20 perfect obedience, our faith must grasp 39:25 the righteousness of Christ 39:27 accepting it as our own righteousness. 39:32 Through union with Christ, 39:35 through acceptance of His righteousness by faith. " 39:40 That means, you believe God has done what He said He would do. 39:44 Do you know God says 39:46 that He made Christ to be sin for us 39:50 who knew no sin... 39:52 so that we could be made the righteousness of Christ 39:57 in Him... the righteousness of God in Him. 40:01 God has declared it... we have to believe it. 40:05 "We may be qualified 40:08 through the righteousness of Christ 40:10 to work the works of God 40:12 and to be co-laborers with Christ!" 40:15 That's what the disciples did 40:16 after Jesus ascended back to heaven. 40:18 He told them, 40:20 "Go into all the world and proclaim these glad tidings 40:25 and these signs will follow those that believe. 40:29 In my name, you will raise the dead 40:31 and heal the sick 40:33 and cast out demons... 40:34 you will cleanse lepers... 40:35 you will drink poison or... or something that's harmful 40:39 and it won't harm you. " 40:41 And the disciples went out and they proclaimed God's Word 40:46 and the Bible says, "With signs following... 40:49 and the Lord working with them... " 40:52 "By perfect obedience to the requirements of the law 40:59 man is justified... 41:02 Only through faith in Christ is such obedience possible. 41:07 Men may comprehend the spirituality of the law... 41:11 inward rather than mere external compliance... 41:15 but we are helpless to withstand Satan's power and deceptions 41:21 unless we accept by faith 41:25 the atonement... 41:28 provided for us in the remedial sacrifice 41:31 of Christ, who is our Atonement... 41:36 our At-one-ment with God. " 41:41 Those are not my words, I did not add that... 41:44 that's Signs of the Time, July 23, 1902. 41:48 As Ellen White was alive 41:51 and as she grew closer to the day 41:53 when she would fall asleep in Jesus, 41:55 the Lord continued to reveal greater and greater... 42:00 beautiful truth to her. 42:03 She says, "We have to accept by faith 42:07 the atonement... the at-one-ment with God 42:12 that Christ made for us 2,000 years ago. 42:14 Pause... 42:16 So, the question that came to my mind 42:18 after reading this 42:20 and after reading Paul in Philippines 3:9, 42:23 how can I be found in Jesus? 42:28 How do I get in Jesus? 42:30 I was like, "This is the whole gospel... " 42:33 if my righteousness of law keeping 42:37 doesn't... isn't going to get me into heaven, 42:38 I don't quit keeping the law 42:42 but if Jesus is in me... 42:44 He now empowers me to keep the law. 42:47 But how do I get Him in me and me in Him? 42:53 God answers this question, listen to this, 42:57 "According as God hath chosen us... 43:04 your name... you and I... 43:06 in Jesus... 43:08 before the foundation of the world... 43:12 so that we should be... or could be... 43:16 holy and without blame before Him in love!" 43:20 Do you know in John chapter 17, verse 19, Jesus said something, 43:25 this is right before Calvary... 43:27 right before that moment in time 43:30 when Ellen White says, "Atonement was made for us. " 43:34 At-one-ment with God. 43:36 In that last prayer before Calvary... John 17:19, 43:41 Jesus said, "Father, for their sakes... including Me 43:45 I sanctify myself 43:48 so that they also might be sanctified through the truth. " 43:55 I read that and I could not comprehend it. 43:59 I was like, "I know Jesus was holy, 44:03 but how does that change me?" 44:05 I've read those verses where He says, 44:08 "I'm holy... I want you to be holy. " 44:10 I'm going, "Lord, I'm trying... 44:13 I'm doing everything I can... " 44:15 and... and sometimes I have a good day 44:17 and I feel like I haven't messed up 44:20 in the externals... 44:22 but do you know what? 44:23 Not one person here can see what's inside my heart 44:28 and my mind... 44:30 the battles that take place there... 44:31 the battles with appetite... 44:33 the battles with bitterness or resentment 44:35 or pride or selfishness... 44:37 whatever it is... maybe it's alcohol... 44:40 or lust... whatever it is... 44:43 the battles are inside. 44:45 God does not want simply external compliance 44:51 the heart has to be clean 44:53 and we can't do that... 44:56 only He can... 44:57 so, how does Jesus being holy make me holy? 45:03 And the Lord gave me another story, 45:07 he showed me this in my mind, 45:08 I was asking Him in tears, "God, how can I do this? 45:13 How can I get in Christ?" 45:15 And God answered me that afternoon 45:18 while I was sitting there at home by myself, He answered me. 45:21 He said, "Eric, it's simple, 45:23 how did you get in your mother?" 45:25 I was sitting there and I... 45:29 I mean, I heard God... not like thunder 45:31 but you know when you hear Him in your heart... your mind... 45:34 I heard God say that... 45:35 "How did you get in your mother?" 45:37 And I was looking at my Bible and I looked up 45:40 and I said, "I had nothing to do with that" 45:43 and God said, "That's right... " 45:45 and then I said, "Yes, but, wait a minute, 45:48 I got in my father though my father... 45:52 I got in my mother through my father... " 45:55 and I know God had a smile 45:58 and He said, "Then how did you get in your dad?" 46:02 And I sat there... quiet... 46:06 God said, "I put you there, 46:11 you didn't put yourself in your dad, 46:15 I put you there 46:16 and through your dad, I put you in your mother... " 46:20 and the Lord gave me this... this story, 46:24 He showed this to me... 46:25 and I'm going to make this short... 46:28 let's say that wherever you live, 46:31 there's a young lady... she's 28 years old... 46:36 maybe 29... 46:38 she's not a Christian 46:39 and she lives 20 minutes outside of town. 46:43 It's out by itself... there's no neighbors... 46:47 she doesn't have any family... 46:49 family is hours and hours and hours away 46:52 she has a boyfriend... he's not a Christian, 46:55 and they're living together 46:56 and he gets up one morning, goes to work 47:00 and she gets up and she feels kind of nauseated 47:06 sort of queasy... 47:07 and just out of curiosity, she takes a pregnancy test, 47:11 you know, one of those home tests, 47:12 and the test results say, "She's pregnant. " 47:16 So, here this 28-year-old girl who's not a Christian... 47:20 she's not married... 47:22 finds out that she's with child and she's excited... 47:27 she's excited... 47:28 no woman in their very innermost part of their heart 47:34 can says that we're not excited 47:36 because that's a miracle 47:37 above every other miracle that you can imagine. 47:41 That evening, her boyfriend comes driving in, 47:44 parks the car, comes in the house, 47:47 he's had a bad day at work... bad day... 47:49 he's a little bit irritated 47:51 and he walks in the door and he throws his stuff down, 47:56 he goes to the fridge to get a beer, 47:59 and she's like, "Honey, guess what?" 48:02 "What?" 48:03 "We're going to have a baby... " 48:06 and he loses it, he loses it... 48:10 he's not married, 48:11 he's not interested in having children... 48:13 he's not interested in being married... 48:15 he's not... doesn't have the money... 48:16 they don't have a house... 48:18 and he... he loses it... he's angry... 48:20 he just vents... 48:22 and finally, after he calms down a little bit 48:24 he says, "Listen, this is simple, 48:26 we got two choices... 48:28 either you have the baby aborted... murdered... 48:33 terminated... or I'm out of here... " 48:38 and the young girl... it hits her... 48:42 and she says, "I can't kill this baby. " 48:47 Pause... 48:49 He packs his stuff and in ten minutes 48:51 he is pulling out of the driveway 48:54 with the wheels squealing 48:56 down the road... she never sees him again. 49:00 Nine months pass... same 28-year-old girl 49:04 she gets up in the morning... 49:06 she's showing now 49:10 and she walks downstairs, 49:12 she's going to make breakfast and she puts her coffee on, 49:16 it's high octane... no creamer... no sugar... 49:18 just pure caffeine... 49:20 and she lights a cigarette while the coffee is warming. 49:23 When the mother is smoking the cigarette, 49:27 is the baby smoking the cigarette? 49:30 Absolutely... guaranteed... 49:33 you could check the baby's blood 49:35 and it would have the nicotine 49:37 as if it had put the cigarette to its own lips. 49:39 Why? 49:41 Because the baby is attached to the mother... 49:43 it's one with the mother. 49:45 So, then she finishes the cigarette... 49:47 she gets her coffee... high octane and downs it. 49:51 Is the baby drinking the caffeine? 49:54 Absolutely. 49:55 Do you know that medical science now 49:57 has what they call, Crack Babies... 50:00 or Meth babies or whatever. 50:02 Babies that are in the womb 50:05 will come out addicted to the same drugs 50:07 their mother was doing while they were pregnant. 50:09 So, she gets finished making breakfast 50:14 it was bacon and eggs and Spam... 50:16 and I'm not sure what that is... 50:18 but we know it's not healthy for you, 50:20 and she's making all this and she eats it... 50:22 finishes it... puts it in the dishwasher... 50:24 she goes upstairs to take a shower, 50:26 so, she gets upstairs in the shower... 50:28 she turns the warm water on, climbs into the shower, 50:31 she's got one of those old porcelain bathtubs 50:34 it's thick and heavy like stone 50:37 and it's got the legs on it, 50:40 beautiful bathtub, 50:41 so she's standing there in the shower 50:44 with the warm water coming... falling on her 50:47 and she's wet and she's being cleansed 50:50 is the baby being cleansed also? 50:54 Yes, because the baby is in her. 50:59 Do you know that you absorb more water 51:01 through your cells on the skin 51:03 than what you do even through drinking? 51:05 Pause... 51:10 When she's washing, the baby is being washed. 51:12 Now, she turns the shower off, she opens the shower curtain 51:18 and she begins to step out onto that new tile floor 51:22 that she had put in, it's slippery tile... 51:26 and she forgets that she had put the carpet 51:29 or the mat... the bath mat right outside the bathtub, 51:32 she forgot... 51:34 so she steps out onto that slick floor 51:37 and shoooo... boooom... 51:40 her head comes down on the side of that tub 51:44 and she slumps to the floor 51:47 and a pool of blood starts forming behind her head. 51:51 She lays there for two days, 51:55 blood is coming out of her nose, 51:59 out of her mouth, 52:00 out of her eyes, 52:02 out of the back of her head... 52:03 after two days, what happens to the mother? 52:07 She dies... 52:09 nobody comes to check on her, 52:11 she has no family, the boyfriend's gone, 52:14 she dies... 52:16 what happened to the baby when the mother died? 52:20 The baby died 52:23 because it was in her. 52:26 Whatever happens to the mother, happens to the child 52:32 because it is in her. 52:34 Paul says that God chose you and I in Christ Jesus 52:42 before the foundation of the world. 52:44 So, when Jesus was baptized, Ellen White says, 52:49 "You and I were in Him being baptized. " 52:52 She says... the words that God spoke to Jesus 52:57 when He came up out of the water, 52:59 He is speaking to every soul today. 53:02 "You are my beloved child in whom I am well pleased. " 53:07 After Christ's baptism, He was sent by the Holy Spirit 53:12 into the wilderness to be tempted 53:15 and he conquered Satan himself 53:17 and every temptation that you and I will ever be faced with. 53:21 His victory became yours because you were in Him. 53:27 When He went to Calvary... 53:30 before He went to Calvary... when He went to Gethsemane 53:35 and He was sweating blood striving against you and I... 53:39 our personal sins 53:41 He didn't take a generic box of sin and say, 53:45 "I'll pay the penalty for that, Daddy... " 53:48 it wasn't that simple... 53:51 the personal sins of every human being 53:56 that has ever lived, were placed on Him... 54:01 not just the penalty for them, 54:03 He did not commit sin... 54:05 He did not yield to sin... 54:07 but Ellen White says, 54:09 "He felt the guilt as if He had. " 54:12 Our guilt... 54:13 when He went to Calvary, 54:18 the Bible says in Romans chapter 6 verses 10 and 11 54:21 that in that He died... He died unto sin. 54:25 He looked at Eric William Wilson's sin 54:29 and He said, "Wow, I cannot believe how much of a struggle 54:34 this temptation has on my son, Eric... " 54:37 but I choose to die rather than yield to Eric's sin now. 54:44 Romans 6:11 says, "We are therefore now 54:50 to reckon ourselves also to be dead indeed unto sin, 54:55 but alive unto God through Jesus Christ. " 54:58 When Christ was resurrected on that morning of the third day, 55:04 we were resurrected in Him to walk in newness of life 55:09 When Christ ascended on high and sat down at the right hand 55:15 of the mighty God, 55:17 the Bible says, "We are seated with Christ in the heavens. " 55:22 All that is His is ours if we will believe Him 55:28 and walk in faith. 55:30 Pause... 55:34 So, when I was asking the Lord, 55:35 "How do I get in Jesus?" 55:38 and He showed me... "I put you there... " 55:41 and I said, "Father... " 55:42 I said, "Forgive me for pressing my case... " 55:45 I said, "But could You show it to me in Your Word? 55:50 I believe that's You but wow! 55:53 if you showed it to me in the Bible, 55:54 I will feel so much more secure. " 55:56 And God turned my hand to 1st Corinthians chapter 1 56:01 verses 29 through 31, 56:03 it says, "For of God... " 56:07 that means... by God "are we in Christ Jesus... 56:12 who by God is made unto us 56:17 Wisdom and Righteousness and Sanctification 56:21 and Redemption. 56:22 That according as it is written... 56:25 He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord!" 56:29 Now, closing this message, I want to... 56:33 I want to just present some food for thought. 56:38 In Revelation... I believe it's chapter 20, 56:42 let me turn there... 56:47 Revelation chapter 20 56:50 verses 11 through 13, 56:53 it says there that the judgment was set 56:58 and it says that... 57:02 "I saw the dead, small and great, 57:07 stand before God, and the books were opened. 57:11 And another book... " singular... 57:16 "was opened, which is the Book of Life. 57:19 The dead were judged out of those things 57:23 which were written in the books" plural... 57:27 "according to their works. " 57:31 My belief is... the Book of Life is Jesus Christ. 57:36 The human DNA has been likened to the Book of Life... 57:41 we were in Him... 57:43 that's why Jesus says, "Abide in Me... 57:47 stay in Me where I have put you 57:50 because if you are in Me, you have been given assurance 57:55 on the day of judgement.
