00:01 Welcome back. We're talking today about fear;
00:03 the fears that Satan holds us captive with, and the fact that 00:07 the Lord Jesus came to set us free. 00:10 He came to bring deliverance to the fears that maybe have 00:14 enslaved you from the time you were a little girl. 00:17 I don't know if you can see in front of me here. 00:20 I have two plates of grape juice. 00:23 Now you might say, What in the world are you doing with two 00:25 plates of grape juice? 00:27 I have two sponges. 00:28 They're yellow. They're hard. 00:30 I don't know if you can see that, but they're hard. 00:32 If I put this one, it's a dry sponge, into the grape juice, 00:36 what's going to happen? 00:38 Can you see, it's starting to wick. 00:40 It starts to pull up the grape juice. 00:43 If I push on the top, can you see it's covering it? 00:46 It soaks it up entirely. 00:49 Now that turns a different color than this sponge. 00:52 Can you see that? This one, instead of putting it in the 00:56 grape juice dry, I'm going to dunk it in the water. 00:59 I love how sponges swell up as you put them in the water. 01:04 So I'm going to take this soaked sponge; I'm pulling it out, 01:09 and I'm going to put it in the grape juice. 01:11 Lets see what happens. 01:13 Now is it changing color? 01:16 Do you see anything happening? 01:18 Even if I push on the top, what happens? 01:23 Is it changing color? Do you know why? 01:26 It's because the sponge is already filled up with water. 01:32 It was so filled up that the grape juice couldn't penetrate. 01:37 And I like to think of that as when we deal with fear; 01:42 when we deal with those issues in our lives. 01:45 If I am so filled up with the Lord Jesus, Satan can't get in. 01:53 He can't get in with those lies that he wants to tell me about 01:56 myself, or about other people, or even about God Himself. 02:00 He's not allowed access in because I am filled up 02:05 with the Lord Jesus Christ. 02:07 We talked today about the keys; the steps to 02:11 breaking free from fear. 02:13 First we just understand who God is. 02:16 We learn to trust Him. 02:19 We surrender to Him. 02:21 We claim promises from His Word. 02:24 We fill ourselves up with Jesus. 02:27 We praise Him. Even when you're lost and alone, 02:31 even when you're afraid, even when you're struggling. 02:36 We fill ourselves up with Jesus, so that that fear has no 02:42 hold over our lives. 02:44 I love that about the Lord Jesus: 02:47 what He wants to do in each one of our hearts and lives. 02:51 If I'm like the dry sponge, I'm going to easily soak up 02:55 what Satan throws at me, what other people throw at me, 02:59 what the world throws at me. 03:02 But if I'm filled up with Jesus,... 03:04 You see that? It didn't even change color. 03:06 It stayed soaked up with the water. 03:08 For this week, I want to invite you to share your testimony 03:14 with someone else. 03:15 There's power when we share what God has done for us. 03:19 1. There's nothing more powerful than your own personal 03:23 testimony of what Jesus has done for you. 03:27 But when you share your personal testimony, 03:29 its going to reflect back on yourself. 03:33 It's going to encourage you. 03:35 It's going to help you on the journey as you seek to break 03:39 free from those fears. 03:41 So don't feel like you have to get up in church and preach. 03:44 Pick one person. Maybe it's your neighbor, 03:47 maybe it's your girlfriend, maybe it's your spouse. 03:51 And share with them what the Lord Jesus Christ in doing 03:56 in your heart and life. 03:58 Next week we're going to begin several programs dealing with 04:02 the concept of sadness. 04:04 We all experience loss. 04:06 We all have grief and pain. 04:08 But how can God turn our sorrow into joy? 04:13 You won't want to miss it. 04:15 Our Scripture as always in closing is Romans 15:13. 04:19 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace 04:23 in believing, that you may abound in hope, 04:25 by the power of the Holy Spirit. |
