00:16 Hi, and welcome to HIS WORDS ARE LIFE.
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer and I'll be reading today 00:21 from the King James version. You know when Jesus was in 00:24 the wilderness and the devil came to tempt him, 00:27 Jesus met every temptation of the devil through the power 00:32 of the Word of God. And that power is ours today. 00:35 And we have access to it freely. But before we go to the Word, 00:39 Let's go to the Lord in prayer. Oh, my Father, thank you so much 00:44 for giving us these words of life and for the power 00:49 that we can use to face every trial, every temptation, every 00:53 struggle. Help us now, as we read. Give us wisdom that we 00:57 may understand. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen 01:01 I am reading today from the book of Matthew, chapter 5, verse 18. 01:09 Again, I am reading from the King James version. 01:12 Verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, 01:18 one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, 01:22 till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of 01:27 these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be 01:31 called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever 01:35 shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great 01:39 in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, that, except your 01:44 righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes 01:48 and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom 01:52 of heaven. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, 01:57 Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill 02:01 shall be in danger of the judgment. But I say unto 02:05 you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause 02:09 shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever 02:12 shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger 02:16 of the council; but whosoever shall say Thou fool, shall be in 02:21 danger of hell fire. Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the 02:26 altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught 02:30 against thee; leave there thy gift before the altar, and go 02:34 thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come 02:39 and offer thy gift. Agree with thine adversary quickly, 02:44 whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time 02:48 the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge 02:51 deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. 02:54 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out 02:59 thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing. 03:02 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, 03:06 Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, 03:11 That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath 03:15 committed adultery with her already in his heart. 03:18 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast 03:22 it from thee: for it is profitable for thee 03:25 that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole 03:29 body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend 03:33 thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable 03:37 for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy 03:41 whole body would be cast unto hell. It hath been said 03:46 Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing 03:50 of divorcement: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put 03:54 away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, 03:57 causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her 04:02 that is divorced committeth adultery. Again, ye have heard 04:08 that it has been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not 04:11 forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord 04:15 thine oaths: But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by 04:21 heaven; for it is God's throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his 04:26 footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great 04:30 King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst 04:34 not make one hair white or black. But let your 04:38 communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever 04:44 is more than these cometh of evil. Ye have heard that it hath 04:50 been said, An eye for and eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 04:54 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever 05:01 shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other 05:04 also, And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take 05:09 away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. And whosoever shall 05:15 compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him 05:21 that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee 05:25 turn not thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, 05:30 Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. 05:34 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse 05:40 you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which 05:45 despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye 05:49 may be the children of your Father which is in 05:51 heaven, for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil 05:55 and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just 05:58 and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, 06:03 what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 06:08 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than 06:13 others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore 06:18 perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. 06:23 I'm reading from the book of Matthew, chapter six. 06:26 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen 06:32 of them; otherwise ye have no reward of your Father 06:36 which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, 06:39 do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in 06:43 the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have 06:46 glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 06:51 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy 06:57 right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: 07:01 and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee 07:06 openly. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not 07:10 be as the hypocrites are; for they love to pray standing 07:14 in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, 07:16 that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, 07:20 They have their reward. But thou when thou prayest, 07:26 enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, 07:30 pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father 07:34 which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. 07:38 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: 07:44 for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking 07:48 Be not ye not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father 07:52 knoweth what things ye have need of before ye ask him. 07:57 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art 08:03 in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will 08:09 be done in earth, as it is in heaven, Give us this day 08:15 our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive 08:19 our debtors. And lead us not unto temptation, 08:22 but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the 08:27 power, and the glory, for ever, Amen. 08:31 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly 08:35 Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men 08:39 their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive 08:43 your trespasses. Moreover when ye fast, 08:47 be not as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: 08:50 for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men 08:54 to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 08:59 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash 09:04 thy face; that thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy 09:09 Father, which is in secret, and thy Father which seeth in secret 09:14 shall reward thee openly. Lay not up for yourselves treasures 09:21 upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves 09:25 break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves 09:29 treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth 09:32 corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 09:36 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 09:42 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye 09:47 be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if 09:50 thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. 09:54 If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, 09:59 how great is that darkness! No man can serve 2 masters: 10:04 for either he will hate the one, and love the other, or else 10:08 he will hold to the one, and despise the other. 10:11 Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore I say unto you, 10:17 Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, 10:20 or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, 10:24 what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, 10:28 and the body more than raiment? Behold the fowl of the air: 10:32 For they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into 10:36 barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much 10:41 better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one 10:46 cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? 10:51 Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: 10:54 they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, 10:59 That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed 11:02 like one of these. Wherefore if God so clothe the grass 11:08 of the field, which today is and tomorrow is cast into the oven, 11:12 shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 11:18 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? 11:23 or, What shall we drink? or Wherewithal shall we be clothed. 11:26 For after all these things do the Gentiles seek: 11:30 for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need 11:34 of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, 11:38 and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added 11:42 unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: 11:45 for the morrow shall take thought for the things 11:48 of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. 11:52 I'm reading in the book of Matthew, chapter seven. 11:56 Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment 12:01 ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, 12:06 shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote 12:11 that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam 12:14 that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother 12:18 Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam 12:22 is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out 12:27 the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly 12:31 to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. 12:33 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast 12:38 ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under 12:42 their feet, and turn again and rend you. 12:45 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, 12:52 and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh 12:57 receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; 13:00 and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man 13:04 is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a 13:09 stone? or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 13:12 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts 13:17 unto your children, how much more shall your Father 13:20 which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? 13:24 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do 13:28 unto you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law 13:33 and the prophets. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide 13:38 is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth 13:40 to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 13:44 Because strait is the gate, and narrow the way, which leadeth 13:49 unto life, and few there be that find it. 13:53 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, 13:57 but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them 14:01 by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of 14:05 thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; 14:10 but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree 14:16 cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree 14:19 bring forth good fruit. Thank you again 14:23 for joining me for the reading of God's Word. 14:25 Until we are together again, May the joy of the Lord, 14:28 be your strength and may He keep you always in His care. 14:32 God bless you. |
