00:16 Hi, I'm Kelly Mowrer and thank you for joining me today
00:20 for His Words are Life. Before we go to the word of God, 00:23 let's go to God in prayer together. 00:24 Our dear heavenly Father, thank you so very much 00:28 for the blessings that you just pour upon us every day; 00:31 and the blessing of the word that you have preserved 00:34 through all these years to be a guide to us 00:38 and a light to our path: A blessing at this time, 00:40 especially apart right now to spend with you in your word. 00:45 Please send your Holy Spirit to be with us. Guide our minds 00:48 that we might understand. Thank you so much for loving us. Amen. 00:53 I'm reading today from the King James Version, 00:57 in the book of Mark, chapter twelve. 00:59 When we last read it was the story that Jesus was telling 01:02 of a man that planted a vineyard and gave it to workers to 01:06 take care of and he sent his servant to these workers 01:08 to collect the fruit of the vineyard and the workers 01:11 killed the servant. And servant after servant was sent 01:14 to collect and time and again they were killed. So finally 01:17 the owner said, I will send my beloved son. 01:20 Surely they will treat him with respect. And now we'll pick up 01:23 the story again in Mark, chapter twelve, beginning with verse 7. 01:28 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; 01:33 come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours. 01:37 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the 01:42 vineyard. What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? 01:45 he will come and destroy the husbandmen, 01:48 and will give the vineyard unto others. 01:50 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which 01:54 the builders rejected is become the head of the corner. 01:57 This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes? 02:01 And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: 02:05 for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: 02:09 and they left him and went their way. 02:11 And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees 02:14 and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words. 02:17 And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, 02:20 we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: 02:24 for thou regardest not the person of men, 02:27 but teachest the way of God in truth: 02:29 Is it lawful to give tribute to Ceasar, or not? Shall we give, 02:34 or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, 02:39 said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, 02:43 that I may see it. And they brought it. And he saith 02:47 unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? 02:50 And they said unto him, Ceasar's. And Jesus answering 02:55 said unto them, Render to Ceasar the things that are Caesar's, 02:59 and to God the things that are God's. And they marveled at him 03:05 Then come unto him the Sadducees 03:08 which say there is no resurrection; 03:10 and they asked him, saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, 03:15 If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, 03:19 and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, 03:22 and raise up seed unto his brother. 03:25 Now there were 7 brethren: and the first took a wife, 03:28 and dying, left no seed. And the second took her, and died, 03:33 neither left he any seed: and the third likewise. 03:37 And the seven had her, and left no seed: 03:41 last of all, the woman died also. In the resurrection 03:45 therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? 03:49 for the seven had her to wife. And Jesus answering said unto 03:54 them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not 03:58 the scriptures, neither the power of God? 04:00 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, 04:04 nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in 04:08 heaven. And as touching the dead, that they rise: 04:12 have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush 04:15 God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, 04:19 and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? 04:21 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: 04:25 ye therefore do greatly err. And one of the scribes came 04:30 and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that 04:33 he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first 04:36 commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, The first of all 04:40 the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God 04:44 is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy 04:48 heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, 04:50 and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 04:54 And the second is like, namely this, 04:57 Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other 05:01 commandment greater than these. And the scribe said unto him, 05:05 Well, Master, thou hast said, the truth: for there is one God; 05:09 and there is none other but he: And to love him with all 05:13 the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all 05:16 the soul, and with all the strength, and to love 05:18 his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings 05:22 and sacrifices. And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, 05:27 he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. 05:31 And no man after that durst ask him any question. 05:35 And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, 05:39 How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David? 05:43 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to 05:47 my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies 05:51 thy footstool. David therefore himself calleth him Lord; 05:55 and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard 06:00 him gladly. And he said unto them in his doctrine, 06:03 Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, 06:08 and love salutations in the marketplaces, 06:10 and the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost 06:13 rooms at feasts: Which devour widows' houses, 06:16 and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive 06:21 greater damnation. And Jesus sat over against the treasury, 06:26 and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: 06:29 and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain 06:34 poor widow, and she threw in 2 mites, which make a farthing. 06:39 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, 06:43 Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast 06:48 more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: 06:52 For all they did cast in of their abundance; 06:55 but she of her want did cast in all that she had, 07:01 even all her living. - I am reading from the book of Mark, 07:06 chapter 13. - And as he went out of the temple, 07:10 one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner 07:15 of stones and what buildings are here! And Jesus answering said 07:19 unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be 07:23 left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 07:27 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, 07:32 Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, 07:36 Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign 07:41 when all these things shall be fulfilled? And Jesus answering 07:45 them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you: 07:49 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; 07:53 and shall deceive many. And when ye shall hear of wars 07:56 and rumors of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must 08:01 needs be; but the end shall not be yet. For nation shall rise 08:05 against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall 08:09 be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and 08:12 troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. 08:16 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up 08:20 to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: 08:23 and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, 08:27 for a testimony against them. And the gospel must first 08:31 be published among all nations. But when they shall lead you, 08:35 and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand 08:38 what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: for whatsoever 08:43 shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye 08:47 that speak, but the Holy Ghost. Now the brother shall betray 08:52 the brother to death, and the father the son; 08:54 and the children shall rise up against their parents, 08:58 and shall cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated 09:01 of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure 09:05 unto the end, the same shall be saved. But when ye shall see 09:10 the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, 09:14 standing where it ought not, let him that readeth understand, 09:19 then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains: 09:23 and let him that is on the housetop not go down 09:27 into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out 09:30 of his house: And let him that is in the field not turn back 09:34 again for to take up his garment. But woe to them 09:38 that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 09:41 And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter. 09:45 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not 09:49 from the beginning of the creation which God created 09:52 unto this time, neither shall be. And except that the Lord 09:57 had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: 10:00 but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, 10:03 he hath shortened the days. And then if any man shall say 10:08 to you, Lo, here is Christ; or lo, he is there; believe him not 10:12 For False Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall 10:18 shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, 10:21 even the elect. But take ye heed: behold, 10:25 I have foretold you all these things. 10:27 But in those days, after that tribulation, 10:32 the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not 10:35 give her light, and the stars of heaven shall fall, 10:39 and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. 10:42 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds 10:45 with great power and glory. And then shall he send his 10:50 angels, and shall gather together his elect 10:52 from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth 10:56 to the uttermost part of heaven. Now learn a parable 11:00 of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth 11:04 leaves, ye know that summer is near: So ye in like manner, 11:09 when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is 11:13 nigh, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, that this 11:17 generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. 11:20 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not 11:25 pass away. But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, 11:29 no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, 11:33 but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know 11:39 not when the time is. For the Son of man is as a man taking 11:44 a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority 11:48 to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded 11:51 the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not 11:56 when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, 11:59 or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly 12:04 he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, 12:09 Watch. - I'm reading from Mark, chapter fourteen. 12:13 After two days was the feast of the Passover, 12:17 and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests 12:21 and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, 12:24 and put him to death. But they said, Not on the feast day, 12:28 lest there be an uproar of the people. And being in Bethany 12:31 in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came 12:35 a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard 12:39 very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his 12:43 head. And there were some that had indignation 12:46 within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment 12:50 made? For it might have been sold for more than 300 pence, 12:54 and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. 12:57 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath 13:03 wrought a good work on me. For ye have the poor with you always 13:07 and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not 13:13 always. She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand 13:18 to anoint my body to the burying. Verily I say unto you, 13:22 Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole 13:25 world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a 13:30 memorial of her. And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, 13:34 went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them. 13:37 And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to 13:40 give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently 13:44 betray him. And the first day of unleavened bread, when they 13:47 killed the Passover, his disciples said unto him, 13:50 Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat 13:53 the Passover? And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, 13:57 and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, 14:00 and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: 14:03 follow him. And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the 14:08 goodman of the house, The Master saith, 14:11 Where is the guest chamber, where I shall eat the Passover 14:13 with my disciples? And he will shew you a large upper room 14:18 furnished and prepared: there make ready for us. 14:22 And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and 14:26 found as he had said unto them: and they made ready 14:29 the Passover. - Thank you again for joining me today.
