00:16 Hello and welcome to HIS WORDS ARE LIFE.
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and we'll be reading together 00:21 today from the King James version. But before we read 00:24 Let's go to God in prayer. Dear heavenly Father, 00:27 We thank you and we praise you for your love, for your kindness 00:32 to us in giving us these beautiful words that not only 00:36 bless us now but help us to become the people that you've 00:39 created us to be. And one day soon we are going to come home 00:42 and live with you forever. Thank you for that. Thank you for your 00:45 Holy Spirit. Please be with us now as we read and give us 00:48 understanding. We love You. Amen. 00:51 I'm reading today from the gospel of Luke in chapter 11, 00:55 the King James Version. We'll start with verse 51, 00:59 Luke chapter 11, verse 51. Jesus is talking to the Pharisees. 01:03 >From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, 01:08 which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say 01:11 unto you, It shall be required of this generation. 01:14 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of 01:18 knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were 01:22 entering in ye hindered. And as he said these things unto them, 01:27 the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, 01:31 and to provoke him to speak of many things: Laying wait for him 01:34 and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, 01:37 that they might accuse him. - Luke chapter twelve. 01:41 In the meantime when there were gathered together an innumerable 01:45 multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another 01:49 He began to say unto his disciples first of all, 01:52 Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. 01:56 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; 02:00 neither hid, that shall not be known. Therefore whatsoever 02:05 ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that 02:09 which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed 02:12 upon the housetops. And I say unto you my friends, 02:15 Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have 02:19 no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye 02:22 whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed 02:26 hath power to cast into hell; Yea, I say unto you, Fear him. 02:30 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of 02:35 them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your 02:38 head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value 02:43 than many sparrows. Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall 02:47 confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess 02:51 before the angels of God: But he that denieth me before men 02:55 shall be denied before the angels of God. 02:58 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall 03:03 be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the 03:07 Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven. And when they 03:11 bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers 03:14 take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, 03:18 or what you shall say: For the Holy Ghost shall teach you 03:21 in the same hour what ye ought to say. And one of the company 03:26 said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the 03:30 inheritance with me. And he said unto him, Man who made me 03:34 a judge or a divider over you? And he said unto them, 03:38 Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's 03:42 life consisteth not in the abundance of the things 03:45 which he possesseth. And he spake a parable unto them, 03:49 saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth 03:53 plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, 03:56 What shall I do: Because I have no room where to bestow my 04:00 fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, 04:04 and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits 04:08 and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much 04:12 goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, 04:17 and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night 04:23 thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those 04:27 things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth 04:32 up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. 04:36 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, 04:40 Take no thought for you life, what ye shall eat; neither 04:43 for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, 04:47 And the body is more than raiment. Consider the ravens: 04:50 For they neither sow nor reap which neither have storehouse 04:53 nor barn and God feedeth them: How much more are ye better 04:58 than the fowls? And which of you with taking thought can add to 05:02 his stature one cubit? If ye then be not able to do 05:06 that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? 05:09 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin 05:14 not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory 05:18 was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe 05:23 the grass, which is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into 05:27 the oven; how much more will he clothe you O ye of little faith? 05:31 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, 05:36 neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the 05:40 nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth 05:44 that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye 05:48 the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added 05:51 unto you. Fear not, little flock for it is your Father's good 05:55 pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell that ye have, 06:00 and give alms; provide your selves bags which was not old, 06:04 a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief 06:08 approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. 06:10 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 06:14 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; 06:18 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, 06:21 when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh 06:24 and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately. 06:27 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh 06:30 shall find watching. Verily I say unto you, that he shall 06:34 gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come 06:37 forth and serve them. And if he shall come in the second watch, 06:41 or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those 06:45 servants. And this know, that if the Goodman of the house 06:49 had known what hour the thief would come, he would have 06:52 watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. 06:56 Be ye therefore ready, also for the Son of man cometh at an hour 07:01 when ye think not. Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest 07:06 thou this parable unto us, or even to all? And the Lord said, 07:11 who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord 07:15 shall make ruler over his household, to give them 07:17 their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, 07:21 whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 07:25 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all 07:29 that he hath. But and if that servant say in his heart, 07:34 My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat 07:37 the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, 07:40 and to be drunken; the lord of that servant will come in a day 07:44 when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, 07:48 and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion 07:52 with the unbelievers. And that servant, which knew his lord's 07:56 will, and prepared not himself, neither did according 08:00 to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 08:03 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, 08:06 shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever 08:10 much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom 08:15 men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. 08:19 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be 08:25 already kindled? But I have a baptism to be baptized with; 08:29 and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! 08:31 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? 08:35 I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth 08:40 there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, 08:43 and two against three. The father shall be divided against 08:47 the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the 08:50 daughter and the daughter against the mother; 08:53 the mother in law against her daughter in law against her 08:58 mother in law. And he said also to the people, 09:01 When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, 09:04 there cometh a shower; and so it is. And when ye see the south 09:08 wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass. 09:12 Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the 09:16 earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time? 09:20 Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right? 09:24 When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, 09:28 as thou are in the way, give diligence that thou mayest 09:32 be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, 09:36 and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer 09:39 cast thee into prison. I tell thee, thou shalt not depart 09:42 thence till thou has paid the very last mite. 09:46 Reading from Luke. chapter 13. There were present at that 09:51 season some that told him of the Galileans, whose blood Pilate 09:56 had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus 09:59 answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these 10:02 Galileans were sinners above all the Galileans, 10:04 because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay: 10:07 but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. 10:11 Or those eighteen upon whom the in Siloam fell, and slew them, 10:17 Think ye that they were sinners above al men 10:20 that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but except ye repent 10:24 you shall all likewise perish. He spake also this parable; 10:29 A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; 10:33 and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. 10:37 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these 10:42 three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, 10:44 and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? 10:49 And he answering said unto him, Lord let it alone this year also 10:54 till I shall dig about it, and dung it: And if it bear fruit, 10:58 well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down. 11:02 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11:06 And behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity 11:10 eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise 11:14 lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, 11:19 and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. 11:22 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made 11:26 straight, and glorified God. And the ruler of the synagogue 11:30 answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed 11:33 on the Sabbath day, and said unto the people, 11:36 There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore 11:40 come and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day. 11:42 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not 11:47 each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or his ass 11:52 from the stall, and lead him away to watering? 11:54 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, 11:58 whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed 12:02 from this bond on the Sabbath day? And when he had said these 12:06 things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people 12:10 rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him. 12:13 Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? 12:18 and whereunto shall I resemble it? It is like a grain of 12:22 mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; 12:26 and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air 12:30 lodged in the branches of it. And again he said, Whereunto 12:35 shall I liken the kingdom of God? It is like leaven, which 12:39 a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole 12:42 was leavened. And he went through the cities and villages, 12:46 teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem. 12:48 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? 12:54 And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: 12:59 for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not 13:03 be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and 13:07 hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to 13:10 knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us 13:13 and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not 13:16 whence ye are: 13:17 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk 13:21 in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. 13:23 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; 13:28 depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. 13:31 there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, 13:34 when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the 13:37 prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. 13:41 And they shall come from the east and from the west, 13:44 and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down 13:46 in the kingdom of God. And, behold, there are last which 13:50 shall be first, and there are first which shall be last. 13:53 The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto 13:57 him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee. 14:01 And he said unto them, Go ye and tell that fox, Behold, 14:06 I cast out devils, and I do cures today and tomorrow, 14:09 and the third day I shall be perfected. Nevertheless 14:13 I must walk today, and tomorrow, and the day following: 14:17 for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem. 14:21 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets and stonest 14:25 them that are sent unto thee; Thank you for joining with me 14:30 today to read the Word of God. Goodbye. |
