00:17 Hi, and welcome to His Words Are Life.
00:19 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and thank you for joining with me today to
00:22 read the word of God.
00:23 Before we turn to the Bible together, let's go and ask God
00:27 to join us, and to open our hearts and our minds to
00:30 understand and receive the word that He has for us today.
00:33 Dear Heavenly Father, thank You so much for these words that
00:38 not only give us the light that we need to walk safely with You,
00:44 but they help us to be a light to bring others to You.
00:47 We pray that You will use us in our homes, and in our
00:51 communities in the world to show Your light in the darkness
00:55 that is around us.
00:56 Please be with us now.
00:58 May these words take root in our hearts and
01:00 bear fruit to Your glory.
01:01 We love You.
01:03 Amen.
01:04 I'm reading from the gospel of John in the King James Version,
01:08 in chapter 4.
01:09 When we last were together Jesus had told his disciples that the
01:14 world was like a field ready for harvest, and men and women ready
01:18 to be gathered into the kingdom of God.
01:20 We'll begin reading with verse 36.
01:23 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit into
01:29 life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may
01:33 rejoice together.
01:34 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
01:39 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labor: other men
01:44 laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
01:47 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him
01:50 for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all
01:54 that ever I did.
01:56 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought
01:59 him that he would tarry with them:
02:01 and he abode there two days.
02:03 And many more believed because of his own word; and said unto
02:08 the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying:
02:11 for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the
02:16 Christ, the Savior of the world.
02:18 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
02:23 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honor
02:27 in his own country.
02:28 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galileans received
02:31 him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the
02:35 feast: for they also went unto the feast.
02:37 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee,
02:40 where he made the water wine.
02:42 And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick
02:45 at Capernaum.
02:46 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judea into Galilee,
02:50 he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down,
02:54 and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
02:57 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders,
03:01 ye will not believe.
03:02 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
03:07 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth.
03:12 And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him,
03:17 and he went his way.
03:19 And as he was now going down, his servants met him,
03:23 and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
03:25 Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend.
03:30 And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour
03:33 the fever left him.
03:34 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which
03:39 Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed,
03:44 and his whole house.
03:45 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come
03:50 out of Judea into Galilee.
03:52 I'm reading in the gospel of John, the King James Version,
03:56 chapter 5.
03:57 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went
04:02 up to Jerusalem.
04:03 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool,
04:07 which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda,
04:10 having five porches.
04:11 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind,
04:16 halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
04:20 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool,
04:24 and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the
04:28 troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever
04:32 disease he had.
04:33 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity
04:37 thirty and eight years.
04:39 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time
04:45 in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
04:49 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man,
04:53 when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool:
04:56 but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
05:00 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
05:07 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed,
05:11 and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
05:15 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the
05:19 sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
05:23 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me,
05:28 Take up thy bed, and walk.
05:29 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee,
05:34 Take up thy bed, and walk?
05:35 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had
05:41 conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.
05:44 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him,
05:48 Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing
05:55 come unto thee.
05:56 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus,
06:00 which had made him whole.
06:01 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to
06:05 slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
06:08 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto,
06:13 and I work.
06:15 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not
06:19 only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his
06:22 Father, making himself equal with God.
06:25 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily,
06:29 I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he
06:34 seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth,
06:37 these also doeth the Son likewise.
06:40 For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things
06:44 that himself doeth: and he will show him greater works than
06:47 these, that ye may marvel.
06:49 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them;
06:53 even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
06:56 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment
07:00 unto the Son: that all men should honor the Son,
07:03 even as they honor the Father.
07:05 He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father which
07:08 hath sent him.
07:09 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word,
07:13 and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life,
07:17 and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed
07:20 from death unto life.
07:22 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is,
07:27 when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God:
07:30 and they that hear shall live.
07:33 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the
07:38 Son to have life in himself; and hath given him authority to
07:43 execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
07:46 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all
07:51 that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come
07:55 forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life;
07:59 and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection
08:02 of damnation.
08:03 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge:
08:09 and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will,
08:13 but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
08:17 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
08:21 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that
08:26 the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
08:28 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.
08:33 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say,
08:38 that ye might be saved.
08:40 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing
08:44 for a season to rejoice in his light.
08:47 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works
08:51 which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I
08:55 do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
08:59 And the Father himself, which hath sent me,
09:01 hath borne witness of me.
09:03 Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
09:07 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent,
09:12 him ye believe not.
09:13 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal
09:18 life: and they are they which testify of me.
09:22 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
09:26 I receive not honor from men.
09:28 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
09:32 I am come in my Father's name and ye receive me not:
09:36 if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
09:40 How can ye believe, which receive honor one of another,
09:44 and seek not the honor that cometh from God only?
09:47 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one
09:52 that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
09:55 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me:
09:59 for he wrote of me.
10:01 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye
10:05 believe my words?
10:06 I'm reading from the gospel of John, chapter 6.
10:10 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee,
10:15 which is the sea of Tiberias.
10:16 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his
10:20 miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
10:22 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat
10:25 with his disciples.
10:26 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.
10:30 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company
10:34 come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy
10:38 bread, that these may eat?
10:39 And this he said to prove him:
10:42 for he himself knew what he would do.
10:44 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not
10:49 sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
10:52 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother,
10:57 saith unto him, There is a lad here, which hath five barley
11:01 loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
11:05 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down.
11:09 Now there was much grass in the place.
11:12 So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11:15 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks,
11:19 he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that
11:22 were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much
11:26 as they would.
11:27 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples,
11:30 Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
11:34 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve
11:37 baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves,
11:39 which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.
11:43 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did,
11:47 said, This is of a truth that Prophet that should come
11:51 into the world.
11:52 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take
11:56 him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a
11:59 mountain himself alone.
12:02 And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto
12:06 the sea, and entered into a ship, and went over the sea
12:09 toward Capernaum.
12:11 And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.
12:15 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
12:19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty
12:22 furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh
12:27 unto the ship: and they were afraid.
12:29 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.
12:34 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately
12:38 the ship was at the land whither they went.
12:41 They day following, when the people, which stood on the other
12:44 side of the sea, saw that there was none other boat there,
12:47 save that one whereinto his disciples were entered,
12:50 and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat,
12:53 but that his disciples were gone away alone; (Howbeit there came
12:57 other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did
13:01 eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)
13:03 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there,
13:07 neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to
13:11 Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.
13:13 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea,
13:16 they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?
13:20 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
13:25 Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did
13:30 eat of the loaves, and were filled.
13:32 Labor not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat
13:36 which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall
13:40 give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
13:44 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work
13:49 the works of God?
13:50 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God,
13:55 that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
13:59 They said therefore unto him, What sign showest thou then,
14:03 that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
14:06 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written,
14:09 He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
14:11 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
14:15 Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father
14:19 giveth you the true bread from heaven.
14:22 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven
14:25 and giveth life unto the world.
14:27 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
14:33 Thank you for joining with me today as we read the
14:37 word of God.
14:38 Please join me again next time.
