00:16 Hi, I'm Kelly Mowrer, and welcome to His Words Are Life.
00:20 Let's pray together. 00:21 Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for these precious and beautiful 00:25 words that You have sent to us. 00:28 We want to hide them in our heart that we will not sin 00:31 against You. 00:32 We don't want there to be anything that keeps us 00:34 apart from You. 00:36 We want to grow closer, and closer to You, so please take 00:39 these words and write them on our very souls so that we can 00:42 bare fruit to Your honor and Your glory. 00:44 We love You so much! 00:45 Thank You. 00:46 Amen. 00:48 I'm reading today from the King James Version, the gospel of 00:51 John, Chapter 10. 00:53 When we were last together Jesus was telling the listeners 00:57 that He was the good shepherd that lays down His life for 01:00 His sheep. 01:01 We'll pick it up in Verse 18. 01:03 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. 01:09 I have the power to lay it down, and I have power to 01:12 take it again. 01:13 This commandment have I received of my Father. 01:16 There was a division therefore again among the Jews 01:20 for these sayings. 01:21 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; 01:24 why hear ye him? 01:26 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. 01:30 Can a devil open the eyes of the blind? 01:32 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, 01:36 and it was winter. 01:37 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch. 01:41 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, 01:43 How long dost thou make us to doubt? 01:45 If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. 01:48 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: 01:53 the works that I do in my Father's name, 01:56 they bear witness of me. 01:57 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, 02:01 as I said unto you. 02:02 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 02:06 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never 02:10 perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 02:14 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man 02:19 is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 02:21 I and my Father are one. 02:24 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. 02:28 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from my 02:31 Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? 02:35 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee 02:39 not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, 02:43 makest thyself God 02:44 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, 02:50 Ye are gods? 02:51 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, 02:55 and the scripture cannot be broken; say ye of him, 02:58 whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, 03:01 Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? 03:05 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 03:09 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: 03:14 that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, 03:18 and I in Him. 03:21 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out 03:24 of their hand, and went away again beyond Jordan into the 03:28 place where John at first baptized; and there he abode. 03:32 And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: 03:36 but all things that John spake of this man were true. 03:40 And many believed on him there. 03:42 I'm reading from the King James Version, the gospel of John, 03:46 and we're now starting with Chapter 11. 03:48 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, 03:53 the town of Mary and her sister Martha. 03:56 (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, 03:59 and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus 04:03 was sick.) 04:04 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, 04:08 he whom thou lovest is sick. 04:10 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, 04:15 but for the glory of God, that the Son of God 04:18 might be glorified thereby. 04:20 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. 04:25 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two 04:29 days still in the same place where he was. 04:32 Then after that saith to his disciples, Let us go into 04:36 Judea again. 04:37 His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought 04:41 to stone thee; and goest thou thither again? 04:44 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? 04:48 If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth 04:53 the light of this world. 04:54 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is 04:58 no light in him. 04:59 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, 05:03 Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him 05:08 out of sleep. 05:09 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. 05:13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he 05:17 had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. 05:20 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. 05:24 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, 05:28 to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him. 05:34 Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellow 05:39 disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him. 05:42 Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave 05:47 four days already. 05:48 Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen 05:52 furlongs off: and many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, 05:56 to comfort them concerning their brother. 05:58 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, 06:02 went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house. 06:06 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, 06:10 my brother had not died. 06:13 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, 06:18 God will give it thee. 06:20 Jesus said unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. 06:24 Martha said unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the 06:28 resurrection at the last day. 06:30 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: 06:35 he that believeth in me, though he were dead, 06:38 yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth 06:42 in me shall never die. 06:44 Believest thou this? 06:46 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the 06:51 Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. 06:55 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary 06:59 her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, 07:03 and calleth for thee. 07:04 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, 07:07 and came unto him. 07:08 Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place 07:13 where Martha met him. 07:14 The Jews then which were with her in the house, 07:17 and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily 07:22 and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave 07:26 to weep there. 07:27 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, 07:31 she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, 07:35 if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. 07:39 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also 07:43 weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, 07:46 and was troubled, and said, Where have ye laid him? 07:50 They said unto him, Lord, come and see. 07:53 Jesus wept. 07:55 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him! 07:59 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes 08:04 of the blind, have caused that even this man should 08:07 not have died? 08:08 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. 08:13 It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. 08:16 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. 08:20 Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, 08:26 by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. 08:30 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, 08:35 if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? 08:39 Then they took away the stone from the place where the 08:43 dead was laid. 08:44 And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee 08:49 that thou hast heard me. 08:50 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the 08:55 people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou 08:59 hast sent me. 09:00 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, 09:04 Lazarus, come forth. 09:06 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave- 09:12 clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. 09:15 Jesus said unto them, Loose him, and let him go. 09:19 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things 09:24 which Jesus did, believed on him. 09:27 But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them 09:31 what things Jesus had done. 09:32 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, 09:36 and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles. 09:40 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: 09:44 and the Romans shall come and take away both our 09:46 place and nation. 09:47 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same 09:52 year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, nor consider 09:58 that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the 10:01 people, and that the whole nation perish not. 10:03 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest 10:07 that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that 10:10 nation; and not for that nation only, but that also he should 10:15 gather together in one the children of God that were 10:18 scattered abroad. 10:19 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put 10:25 him to death. 10:26 Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; 10:30 but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, 10:34 into a city called Ephraim, and there continued 10:37 with his disciples. 10:38 And the Jews' Passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of 10:42 the country up to Jerusalem before the Passover, 10:45 to purify themselves. 10:46 Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, 10:50 as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not 10:54 come to the feast? 10:56 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a 10:59 commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, 11:02 he should show it, that they might take him. 11:06 I'm reading from the gospel of John, Chapter 12. 11:10 Then Jesus six days before the Passover came to Bethany, 11:16 where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised 11:19 from the dead. 11:20 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus 11:25 was one of them that sat at the table with him. 11:27 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, 11:32 very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his 11:36 feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odor 11:40 of the ointment. 11:41 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, 11:46 which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold 11:50 for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? 11:53 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was 11:58 a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein. 12:03 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying 12:09 hath she kept this. 12:10 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always. 12:16 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was 12:20 there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they 12:23 might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead. 12:27 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus 12:30 also to death; because that by reason of him many of the Jews 12:35 went away, and believed on Jesus. 12:37 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, 12:42 when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 12:44 took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, 12:48 and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh 12:51 in the name of the Lord. 12:52 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; 12:58 as it is written, Fear not daughter of Zion: behold thy 13:03 King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt. 13:06 These things understood not his disciples at the first: 13:10 but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these 13:15 things were written of him, and that they had done these 13:17 things unto him. 13:18 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus 13:23 out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record. 13:27 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard 13:30 that he had done this miracle. 13:32 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye 13:37 how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him. 13:40 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to 13:43 worship at the feast: the same came therefore to Philip, 13:47 which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, 13:50 saying, Sir, we would see Jesus. 13:53 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and 13:57 Philip tell Jesus. 13:58 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, 14:02 that the Son of man should be glorified. 14:04 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into 14:09 the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, 14:13 it bringeth forth much fruit. 14:15 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his 14:20 life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 14:24 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, 14:29 there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, 14:33 him will my Father honor. 14:35 Thank you for being with me. 14:37 Please join me again next time. |
