00:16 Hi, I'm Kelly Mowrer.
00:17 Thank you for joining me today for His Words Are Life.
00:20 Before we go to the word of God, let's go to Him in prayer and
00:24 ask Him to be with us as we read.
00:26 Dear Heavenly Father, thank You so very much that we are blessed
00:31 to come and to read the message that You have long ago prepared
00:36 for us today as we read.
00:38 We ask that You will be with us.
00:40 May these words be planted firmly in our hearts.
00:44 May they not be just life to us, but abundant life that we share
00:48 with everyone we meet.
00:50 Thank You so much.
00:51 We love You.
00:52 Amen.
00:53 Again, thank you for joining me today.
00:56 We'll be reading from the gospel of John, the King James Version,
01:00 in chapter 12.
01:01 When we were last together Jesus had just told his
01:05 disciples that the time had come for the Son of man
01:08 to be glorified.
01:09 And now let's pick up in verse 27.
01:12 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say?
01:17 Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I
01:24 unto this hour.
01:25 Father, glorify thy name.
01:28 Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both
01:33 glorified it, and will glorify it again.
01:36 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it,
01:40 said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.
01:44 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me,
01:49 but for your sakes.
01:51 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of
01:55 this world be cast out.
01:57 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth,
02:00 will draw all men unto me.
02:03 This he said, signifying what death he should die.
02:08 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that
02:11 Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man
02:15 must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?
02:18 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the
02:22 light with you.
02:23 Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you:
02:28 for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
02:32 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the
02:35 children of light.
02:37 These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself
02:41 from them.
02:44 But though he had done so many miracles before them,
02:46 yet they believed not on him: that the saying of Esaias the
02:52 prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath
02:55 believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord
02:59 been revealed?
03:00 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias
03:03 said again, He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their
03:06 heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand
03:10 with their heart, and be converted,
03:11 and I should heal them.
03:12 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory,
03:16 and spake of him.
03:17 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on
03:22 him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess
03:26 him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
03:29 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
03:34 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not
03:38 on me, but on him that sent me.
03:40 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
03:43 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth
03:48 on me should not abide in darkness.
03:50 And if any man hear my words, and believe not,
03:54 I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world,
03:57 but to save the world.
03:59 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words,
04:03 hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken,
04:07 the same shall judge him in the last day.
04:10 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me,
04:14 he gave me a commandment, what I should say,
04:17 and what I should speak.
04:19 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever
04:24 I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
04:30 I'm reading from the King James Version in the book of John,
04:33 and we're now starting with chapter 13.
04:35 Now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that
04:40 his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto
04:44 the Father, having loved his own which were in the world,
04:47 he loved them unto the end.
04:50 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the
04:55 heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;
04:58 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his
05:03 hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
05:06 he riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments;
05:11 and took a towel, and girded himself.
05:14 After that he poureth water into a basin, and began to wash the
05:19 disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith
05:23 he was girded.
05:24 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord,
05:29 dost thou wash my feet?
05:31 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not
05:37 now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
05:41 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet.
05:45 Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not,
05:48 thou hast no part with me.
05:51 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only,
05:55 but also my hands and my head.
05:57 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash
06:02 his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean,
06:06 but not all.
06:08 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he,
06:11 Ye are not all clean.
06:13 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his
06:17 garments, and was set down again, he said unto them,
06:19 Know ye what I have done to you?
06:22 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
06:27 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet;
06:32 ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
06:35 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have
06:39 done to you.
06:40 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than
06:45 his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he
06:49 that sent him.
06:50 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
06:55 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen:
07:01 but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread
07:05 with me hath lifted up his heel against me.
07:08 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass,
07:12 ye may believe that I am he.
07:14 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever
07:20 I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him
07:25 that sent me.
07:26 When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit,
07:31 and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
07:34 that one of you shall betray me.
07:37 Then the disciples looked on one another,
07:41 doubting of whom he spake.
07:42 Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples,
07:46 whom Jesus loved.
07:47 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask
07:51 who it should be of whom he spake.
07:53 He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?
07:58 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop,
08:04 when I have dipped it.
08:05 And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot,
08:10 the son of Simon.
08:12 And after the sop Satan entered into him.
08:16 Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
08:21 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake
08:25 this unto him.
08:27 For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag,
08:29 that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have
08:32 need of against the feast; or, that he should give something
08:35 to the poor.
08:38 He then having received the sop went immediately out:
08:41 and it was night.
08:42 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the
08:46 Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
08:50 If God be glorified in him God shall also glorify him in
08:55 himself, and shall straightway glorify him.
08:57 Little children, yet a little while I am with you.
09:02 Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go,
09:06 ye cannot come; so now I say to you.
09:09 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another;
09:14 as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
09:17 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples,
09:21 if ye have love one to another.
09:23 Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou?
09:28 Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not
09:33 follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.
09:36 Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now?
09:40 I will lay down my life for thy sake.
09:42 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake?
09:48 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow,
09:52 till thou hast denied me thrice.
09:55 I'm reading from the gospel of John in the King James Version,
09:59 chapter 14.
10:00 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God,
10:05 believe also in me.
10:06 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so,
10:11 I would have told you.
10:12 I go to prepare a place for you.
10:14 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again,
10:18 and receive you unto myself; that where I am,
10:22 there ye may be also.
10:24 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
10:29 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest;
10:34 and how can we know the way?
10:36 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
10:42 no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
10:46 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also:
10:49 and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
10:52 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father,
10:56 and it sufficeth us.
10:58 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you,
11:02 and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me
11:06 hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then,
11:10 Show us the Father?
11:12 Believest thou not that I am in the Father,
11:15 and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak
11:19 not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me,
11:23 he doeth the works.
11:25 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me:
11:29 or else believe me for the very works' sake.
11:32 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me,
11:37 the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than
11:43 these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
11:46 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do,
11:50 that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
11:54 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
11:58 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
12:02 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another
12:05 Comforter, that he may abide with you forever;
12:08 even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive,
12:13 because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him:
12:15 but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
12:20 I will not leave you comfortless:
12:23 I will come to you.
12:24 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more;
12:28 but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
12:33 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me,
12:38 and I in you.
12:39 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them,
12:43 he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of
12:49 my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
12:54 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it
13:01 that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
13:05 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me,
13:09 he will keep my words: and my Father will love him,
13:12 and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
13:15 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word
13:20 which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
13:23 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
13:28 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will
13:32 send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all
13:35 things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
13:39 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you:
13:44 not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
13:47 Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
13:51 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again
13:55 unto you, If ye loved me, ye would rejoice,
13:58 because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is
14:02 greater than I.
14:03 And now I have told you before it come to pass,
14:07 that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
14:11 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of
14:14 this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
14:17 But that the world may know that I love the Father;
14:21 and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do.
14:25 Arise, let us go hence.
14:28 Thank you for being with me today to read the word of God.
14:32 May He keep you until next time.
