00:16 Hi, I'm Kelly Mowrer, and thank you for joining me again today
00:20 to read the word of God. 00:21 We're reading from the gospel of John some of the most 00:24 beautiful teachings that Jesus gave to his disciples 00:28 just before He was to be glorified through 00:30 his crucifixion. 00:31 And those words are for us today as His disciples. 00:34 But before we start to read, let's go and ask for Him to be 00:37 with us. 00:38 Dear Jesus, thank You that You came to earth for us. 00:43 Thank You that You died for us. 00:45 Thank You for these words that You told Your dear friends, 00:49 and we want to be Your dear friends, too. 00:50 May we hear these words as though You are speaking them 00:53 straight into our hearts, and then may they bear fruit in our 00:56 lives to Your glory. 00:57 We love You so much! 00:59 Amen. 01:00 Again, I'm reading from the gospel of John in the King James 01:04 Version, chapter 15, and starting with verse 1. 01:07 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 01:13 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: 01:17 and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, 01:21 that it may bring forth more fruit. 01:23 Now ye are clean through the word which I have 01:26 spoken unto you. 01:27 Abide in me, and I in you. 01:31 As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in 01:35 in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 01:40 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in 01:45 me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; 01:50 for without me ye can do nothing. 01:52 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, 01:57 and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the 02:00 fire, and they are burned. 02:02 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what 02:07 ye will, and it shall be done unto you. 02:09 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; 02:15 so shall ye be my disciples. 02:17 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: 02:21 continue ye in my love. 02:24 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; 02:27 even as I have kept my Father's commandments, 02:30 and abide in his love. 02:31 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain 02:36 in you, and that your joy might be full. 02:39 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, 02:42 as I have loved you. 02:44 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his 02:49 life for his friends. 02:50 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. 02:54 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant 02:58 knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; 03:02 for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made 03:04 known unto you. 03:05 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, 03:09 and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, 03:12 and that your fruit should remain; that whatsoever 03:16 ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. 03:20 These things I command you, that ye love one another. 03:24 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before 03:27 it hated you. 03:29 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own; 03:32 but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you 03:36 out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. 03:39 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not 03:43 greater than his lord. 03:44 If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; 03:48 if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. 03:52 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, 03:56 because they know not him that sent me. 03:59 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin; 04:04 but now they have no cloak for their sin. 04:07 He that hateth me hateth my Father also. 04:10 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, 04:15 they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated 04:21 both me and my Father. 04:23 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled 04:26 that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. 04:30 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from 04:34 the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the 04:38 Father, he shall testify of me: and ye also shall bear witness, 04:43 because ye have been with me from the beginning. 04:46 I'm reading in the gospel of John, chapter 16. 04:50 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should 04:54 not be offended. 04:55 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, 04:58 the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he 05:01 doeth God service. 05:02 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not 05:05 known the Father, nor me. 05:07 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall 05:11 come, ye may remember that I told you of them. 05:13 And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, 05:16 because I was with you. 05:17 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh 05:23 me, Whither goest thou? 05:25 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath 05:28 filled your heart. 05:29 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you 05:34 that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not 05:39 come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 05:43 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, 05:47 and of righteousness, and of judgment: 05:49 of sin, because they believe not on me; of righteousness, 05:55 because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 05:58 of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. 06:04 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot 06:08 bear them now. 06:09 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide 06:14 you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; 06:18 but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: 06:21 and he will show you things to come. 06:23 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall 06:26 show it unto you. 06:27 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, 06:33 that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you. 06:36 A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, 06:41 a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. 06:44 Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this 06:50 that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: 06:54 and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, 06:56 Because I go to the Father? 06:58 They said therefore, What is this that he saith, 07:02 A little while? we cannot tell what he saith. 07:06 Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, 07:10 and said unto them, Do ye inquire among yourselves 07:14 of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: 07:18 and again, a little while, and ye shall see me? 07:21 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, 07:26 but the world shall rejoice; and ye shall be sorrowful, 07:30 but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. 07:32 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is 07:37 come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, 07:40 she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is 07:43 born into the world. 07:45 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you 07:49 again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man 07:53 taketh from you. 07:54 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. 07:57 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the 08:01 Father in my name, he will give it you. 08:03 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall 08:09 receive, that your joy may be full. 08:12 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time 08:16 cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, 08:20 but I shall show you plainly of the Father. 08:23 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, 08:26 that I will pray the Father for you: for the Father himself 08:30 loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed 08:34 that I came out from God. 08:35 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: 08:39 again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. 08:42 His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, 08:49 and speakest no proverb. 08:50 Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, 08:53 and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we 08:58 believe that thou camest forth from God. 09:01 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? 09:05 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be 09:09 scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: 09:13 and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. 09:18 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye 09:22 might have peace. 09:23 In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good 09:28 cheer, I have overcome the world. 09:31 We're reading together from the gospel of John, chapter 17. 09:35 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, 09:40 and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, 09:45 that thy Son also may glorify thee: as thou hast given him 09:51 power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to 09:54 as many as thou hast given him. 09:56 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only 10:01 true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 10:05 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work 10:08 which thou gavest me to do. 10:10 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self 10:15 with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. 10:19 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me 10:23 out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; 10:27 and they have kept thy word. 10:29 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast 10:33 given me are of thee. 10:35 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; 10:38 and they have received them, and have known surely that I 10:42 came out from thee, and they have believed that thou 10:45 didst send me. 10:46 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which 10:51 thou hast given me; for they are thine. 10:54 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am 10:58 glorified in them. 10:59 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the 11:03 world, and I come to thee. 11:04 Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast 11:09 given me, that they may be one, as we are. 11:13 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: 11:17 those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, 11:22 but the son of perdition, that the scripture might 11:25 be fulfilled. 11:26 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the 11:31 world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. 11:35 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, 11:40 because they are not of the world, even as I am not 11:43 of the world. 11:44 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, 11:48 but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 11:51 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 11:55 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 12:00 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent 12:04 them into the world. 12:05 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be 12:10 sanctified through the truth. 12:12 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall 12:18 believe on me through their word; that they all may be one, 12:23 as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also 12:28 may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou 12:31 hast sent me. 12:32 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them: 12:36 that they may be one, even as we are one: 12:40 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; 12:46 and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, 12:48 and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. 12:51 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, 12:57 be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, 13:02 which thou hast given me: for thou lovest me before the 13:05 foundation of the world. 13:06 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have 13:11 known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. 13:16 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: 13:20 that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, 13:25 and I in them. 13:27 Beginning with chapter 18 of the gospel of John. 13:31 When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his 13:35 disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, 13:39 into the which he entered, and his disciples. 13:43 And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: 13:46 for Jesus oft-times resorted thither with his disciples. 13:50 Judas then, having received a band of men and officers 13:54 from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with 13:57 lanterns and torches and weapons. 14:00 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon 14:04 him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? 14:10 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. 14:13 Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye |
