00:15 Hi, and welcome back to His Words are Life.
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer and before we start to read
00:20 God's word together Let's pray
00:22 Dear Jesus, thank you so much for this time to come
00:26 and be in Your presence and hear Your Word.
00:28 Please write them on our hearts. May they be a lamp to our feet,
00:32 and a light to our path. May we be like the man who built
00:37 his house on a solid rock; because we take these words and
00:40 we build our life following the council and the wisdom and the
00:45 guidance. Most of all, help us to love each other
00:47 the way that you loved us and the way that you tells us
00:50 to do in this Word of Life. thank you and we love you. Amen
00:54 Reading from the King James version, and this is Philippians
00:59 chapter four, and we're beginning with verse 8.
01:02 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true,
01:06 whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just
01:11 whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,
01:16 whatsoever things are of good report,
01:19 if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise,
01:22 think on these things. Those things which ye have both
01:27 learned and received, and heard, and seen in me,
01:31 do. And the God of peace shall be with you.
01:35 But I rejoice in the Lord greatly that now at the last,
01:39 your care of me hath flourished again wherein you were also
01:43 careful but you lacked opportunity.
01:45 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned,
01:49 in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
01:53 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound:
01:57 every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full
02:02 and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
02:06 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
02:09 Notwithstanding ye have well well done
02:13 that ye did communicate with my affliction.
02:15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the
02:19 gospel, when I departed from Macedonia,
02:22 no church communicated with me concerning giving and receiving,
02:25 but ye only. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once
02:30 and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift:
02:35 but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.
02:38 But I have all, and abound. I am full,
02:43 having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent
02:47 from you, and odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable,
02:51 well pleasing to God. But my God shall supply all your need
02:56 according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
03:00 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever.
03:04 Amen. Salute every saint in Christ Jesus.
03:08 The brethren which are with me greet you.
03:10 All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of
03:13 Caesar's household. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
03:17 be with you all. Amen. Turning now to the first letter
03:24 Colossians, chapter one. This is the King James version.
03:28 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God,
03:33 and Timotheus our brother. To the saints and faithful
03:37 brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you,
03:42 and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
03:45 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
03:49 praying always for you, since we heard of your faith
03:53 in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints.
03:56 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven,
04:00 whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
04:03 which is come unto you, as it is in all the world;
04:06 and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you,
04:10 since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God
04:13 in truth: As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellow-servant
04:18 who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;
04:21 who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.
04:24 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it,
04:28 do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might
04:32 be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom
04:35 and spiritual understanding; that ye might walk worthy
04:39 of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful
04:42 in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge
04:45 of God; Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious
04:49 power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
04:53 giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet
04:58 to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints
05:00 in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness,
05:04 and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
05:08 In whom we have redemption through his blood,
05:11 even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image
05:15 of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
05:18 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven,
05:22 and that are in earth, visible and invisible,
05:25 whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or
05:29 powers: all things were created by him, and for him.
05:33 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
05:37 And he is the head of the body, the church who is the beginning
05:42 the first born from the dead; that in all things he might have
05:47 the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him
05:50 should all fullness dwell; And having made peace through the
05:55 blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things
05:59 unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth,
06:04 or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated
06:09 and enemies in your mind by wicked works,
06:12 yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh
06:18 through death, to present you holy and unblameable
06:22 and unreproveable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith
06:27 grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope
06:32 of the gospel which ye have heard, and which was preached
06:35 to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made
06:40 a minister; who now rejoice in my sufferings for you,
06:44 and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ
06:48 in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:
06:52 whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation
06:56 of God which is given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God;
07:01 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages
07:05 and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
07:09 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory
07:12 of this mystery among the Gentiles which is Christ in you,
07:16 the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man,
07:21 and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present
07:25 every man perfect in Christ Jesus, whereunto I also labour,
07:30 striving according to his working,
07:32 which worketh in me mightily.
07:35 We are continuing in the book of Colossians, chapter two.
07:39 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you,
07:43 and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen
07:47 my face in the flesh; that their hearts might be comforted,
07:50 being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full
07:54 assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement
07:57 of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
08:00 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and
08:04 knowledge. And this I say, lest any man should beguile you
08:08 with enticing words. For though I be absent in the flesh,
08:12 yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order,
08:16 and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.
08:19 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord,
08:23 so walk ye in him: rooted and built up in him, and established
08:28 in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with
08:32 thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy
08:37 and vain deceit, after the tradition of men,
08:40 after the rudiments of the world and not after Christ,
08:43 For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
08:48 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of
08:51 all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised
08:55 with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off
08:59 the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision
09:02 of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also
09:06 ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation
09:10 of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead
09:14 in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh,
09:17 hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you
09:20 all trespasses; blotting out the handwriting of ordinances
09:24 that was against us, which was contrary to us,
09:27 and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
09:31 And having spoiled principalities and powers
09:34 he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
09:39 let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink,
09:43 or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon,
09:46 or of the Sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come;
09:50 but the body is of Christ. Let no man beguile you of
09:54 your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping
09:57 of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen,
10:01 vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding the Head
10:05 from which all the body by joints and bands
10:08 having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth
10:12 with the increase of God. Wherefore if ye be dead
10:16 with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though
10:20 living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
10:23 - touch not; taste not; handle not; which all are to perish
10:27 with the using; - after the commandments and doctrines
10:30 of men? Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will-worship
10:35 and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour
10:39 to the satisfying of the flesh. - We're reading Colossians,
10:43 chapter three and this is the King James version.
10:46 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things
10:51 which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God
10:55 Set your affection on things above, not on things
10:59 on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ
11:04 in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear,
11:10 then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
11:14 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth;
11:18 fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection,
11:22 evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
11:27 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children
11:31 of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time,
11:34 when you lived in them. But now ye also put off all these;
11:39 anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication
11:45 out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that you
11:49 have put off the old man with his deeds;
11:51 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge
11:55 after the image of him that created him: where there is
11:59 neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision,
12:02 Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all
12:08 and in all. Put on therefore as the elect of God,
12:12 holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness
12:18 of mind, meekness, longsuffering forbearing one another and
12:24 forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any:
12:27 even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
12:31 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond
12:36 of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts
12:41 to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
12:46 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
12:50 teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns
12:54 and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts
12:58 to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed,
13:02 do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God
13:07 and the Father by him. Wives, submit yourselves
13:12 unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord
13:15 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
13:20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well
13:25 pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers provoke not your children
13:29 to anger, lest they be discouraged.
13:31 Servants, obey in all things your masters
13:35 according to the flesh; not with eye-service, as menpleasers
13:40 but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
13:43 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord,
13:47 and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive
13:51 the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
13:55 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong
13:58 which he hath done, and there is no respect of persons.
14:02 Continuing with chapter four. Masters, give unto your servants
14:07 that which is just and equal; knowing the ye also
14:11 have a Master in heaven. Continue in prayer,
14:14 and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
14:16 Until we meet again, let's continue in prayer,
14:20 watch in thanksgiving, and may the God of hope keep you
14:24 with all joy and peace in believing.
14:26 Through your faith in Christ Jesus and by the power of the
14:29 Holy Spirit. Thank you for joining me. Goodbye.
