00:16 Hello, and welcome back to His Words Are Life.
00:19 Thank you for joining with me to read the Bible today.
00:22 But before we read together, let's pray.
00:24 Dear Jesus, we want to grow in Your grace, and we want to grow
00:30 in a knowledge of You.
00:32 We don't want to be just babes content to stay where we are.
00:35 We want to learn more and go deeper and deeper into Your
00:39 love, and into the character of who You are, so that Your
00:43 character can be made into us and we can shine for You.
00:47 Please help us now as we read to understand these words in a new
00:51 way, and may they make us better to serve You.
00:54 We love You so much and thank You for loving us.
00:56 Amen.
00:57 We're reading today from the second book of Peter, chapter 1,
01:02 and starting with verse 21.
01:04 And this is the King James Version.
01:07 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man:
01:12 but holy men of God spake as they were moved
01:16 by the Holy Ghost.
01:17 And continuing now in chapter 2.
01:20 But there were false prophets also among the people,
01:23 even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily
01:27 shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord
01:31 that bought them, and bring upon themselves
01:34 swift destruction.
01:36 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of
01:40 whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
01:44 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make
01:49 merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time
01:54 lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
01:57 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down
02:02 to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness,
02:04 to be reserved unto judgment; and spared not the old world,
02:08 but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of
02:11 righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the
02:15 ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes
02:20 condemned them with an overthrow, making them an
02:23 example unto those that after should live ungodly;
02:27 and delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation
02:31 of the wicked: (for that righteous man dwelling among
02:35 them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from
02:39 day to day with their unlawful deeds;) the Lord knoweth how to
02:44 deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the
02:48 unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: but chiefly
02:53 them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness,
02:56 and despise government.
02:57 Presumptuous are they, self-willed, they are not afraid
03:01 to speak evil of dignities.
03:03 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might,
03:06 bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
03:10 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken
03:16 and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not;
03:21 and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; and shall
03:26 receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that
03:29 count it pleasure to riot in the daytime.
03:32 Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their
03:38 own deceivings while they feast with you; having eyes full of
03:43 adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable
03:48 souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous
03:52 practices; cursed children: which have forsaken the right
03:56 way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam
04:00 the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
04:04 but was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking
04:09 with man's voice forbade the madness of the prophet.
04:12 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a
04:18 tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
04:23 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity,
04:28 they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much
04:32 wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them
04:37 who live in error.
04:38 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants
04:43 of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is
04:48 he brought in bondage.
04:50 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world
04:54 through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
04:57 they are again entangled therein, and overcome,
05:00 the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
05:05 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of
05:08 righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the
05:12 holy commandment delivered unto them.
05:14 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb,
05:19 The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that
05:24 was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
05:27 We're continuing to read in the second book of Peter,
05:31 chapter 3.
05:32 And this is the King James Version.
05:33 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you;
05:38 in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of
05:43 remembrance: that ye may be mindful of the words which were
05:47 spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment
05:51 of us the apostles of the Lord and Savior: knowing this first,
05:55 that there shall come in the last days scoffers,
05:58 walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise
06:02 of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep,
06:05 all things continue as they were from the beginning
06:07 of the creation.
06:09 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of
06:14 God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of
06:18 the water and in the water: whereby the world that then was,
06:21 being overflowed with water, perished: but the heavens and
06:26 the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store,
06:30 reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition
06:35 of ungodly men.
06:36 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is
06:43 with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years
06:46 as one day.
06:47 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count
06:51 slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any
06:57 should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
07:01 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night;
07:05 in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise,
07:10 and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also
07:15 and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
07:18 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved,
07:22 what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy
07:27 conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto
07:31 the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on
07:34 fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt
07:37 with fervent heat?
07:39 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new
07:44 heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
07:48 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things,
07:53 be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot,
07:59 and blameless.
08:01 And account that the long-suffering of our Lord
08:04 is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also
08:09 according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
08:12 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these
08:17 things; in which are some things hard to be understood,
08:21 which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest,
08:26 as they do also the other scriptures,
08:28 unto their own destruction.
08:30 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before,
08:35 beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the
08:40 wicked, fall from your own steadfastness.
08:44 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and
08:49 Savior Jesus Christ.
08:50 To him be glory both now and for ever.
08:53 Amen.
08:54 Continuing now in the first epistle of John, chapter 1,
08:59 and this is the King James Version.
09:01 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard,
09:06 which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon,
09:10 and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
09:12 (for the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear
09:16 witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the
09:20 Father, and was manifested unto us;) that which we have
09:25 seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have
09:30 fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the
09:33 Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
09:36 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
09:41 This then is the message which we have heard of him,
09:44 and declare unto you, that God is light,
09:47 and in him is no darkness at all.
09:50 If we say that we have fellowship with him,
09:53 and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
09:57 but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light,
10:01 we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus
10:05 Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
10:08 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves,
10:12 and the truth is not in us.
10:14 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us
10:20 our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10:24 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar,
10:28 and his word is not in us.
10:30 Continuing with 1 John, chapter 2.
10:33 This is the King James Version.
10:35 My little children, these things write I unto you,
10:39 that ye sin not.
10:41 And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father,
10:45 Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation
10:50 for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins
10:54 of the whole world.
10:55 And hereby we do know that we know him,
10:58 if we keep his commandments.
11:00 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments,
11:05 is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
11:07 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God
11:13 perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
11:17 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk,
11:21 even as he walked.
11:23 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you,
11:26 but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning.
11:29 The old commandment is the word which ye have heard
11:32 from the beginning.
11:33 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in
11:38 him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true
11:42 light now shineth.
11:43 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother,
11:47 is in darkness even until now.
11:50 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light,
11:54 and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11:57 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in
12:02 darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that
12:06 darkness hath blinded his eyes.
12:08 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are
12:13 forgiven you for his name's sake.
12:15 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that
12:19 is from the beginning.
12:21 I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome
12:23 the wicked one.
12:25 I write unto you, little children, because ye have
12:27 known the Father.
12:28 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known
12:32 him that is from the beginning.
12:34 I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong,
12:37 and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome
12:40 the wicked one.
12:41 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.
12:46 If any man love the world, the love of the Father
12:48 is not in him.
12:50 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh,
12:53 and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life,
12:56 is not of the Father, but is of the world.
12:59 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof:
13:02 but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
13:07 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that
13:14 antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists;
13:18 whereby we know that it is the last time.
13:21 They went out from us, but they were not of us;
13:24 for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have
13:28 continued with us: but they went out, that they might be
13:32 made manifest that they were not all of us.
13:35 But ye have an unction from the Holy One,
13:38 and ye know all things.
13:40 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth,
13:44 but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
13:48 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus
13:51 is the Christ?
13:52 He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
13:56 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father:
14:01 but he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
14:05 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from
14:08 the beginning.
14:10 If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in
14:13 you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
14:17 And this is the promise that he hath promised us,
14:21 even eternal life.
14:23 Until we're together again, may each of us continue to
14:28 abide in the word of God, and the truth that He has
14:31 shown us today.
14:32 Thank you for being with me.
14:33 Please come back next time.
14:34 Goodbye.
