00:17 Hi and welcome to His Words Are Life.
00:19 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and today
00:21 we're going to start reading
00:22 together at the very beginning:
00:23 Genesis chapter 1.
00:25 But before we start, let's pray to God together.
00:28 Dear Jesus and God our Father,
00:31 thank you so much that You loved us enough
00:35 that You created us out of nothing
00:36 and then You came from heaven and You redeemed us out of sin
00:40 and re-created us... made us whole again.
00:43 Help us as we read the story of Your power to create
00:47 that the words will take root in our hearts and create us
00:51 with more power to serve You
00:53 and to bear fruit to Your glory.
00:55 We love You so much, and thank you for loving us. Amen.
00:59 I'm reading today from Genesis chapter 1,
01:02 the King James version of the Bible,
01:04 and we're starting with verse 1.
01:06 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
01:10 And the earth was without form, and void;
01:13 and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
01:16 And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
01:19 And God said, "Let there be light: " and there was light.
01:23 And God saw the light, that it was good:
01:26 and God divided the light from the darkness.
01:29 And God called the light Day,
01:31 and the darkness He called Night.
01:33 And the evening and the morning were the first day.
01:37 And God said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the
01:40 waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. "
01:43 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters
01:46 which were under the firmament from the waters which were
01:49 above the firmament: and it was so.
01:52 And God called the firmament Heaven.
01:55 And the evening and the morning were the second day.
01:59 And God said, "Let the waters under the heaven be gathered
02:04 together unto one place, and let the dry land appear:
02:08 and it was so.
02:10 And God called the dry land Earth;
02:13 and the gathering together of the waters called He Seas:
02:16 and God saw that it was good.
02:19 And God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass,
02:23 the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit
02:27 after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth:
02:31 and it was so.
02:34 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed
02:38 after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit,
02:40 whose seed was in itself, after his kind:
02:43 and God saw that it was good.
02:45 And the evening and the morning were the third day.
02:49 And God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament
02:52 of the heaven to divide the day from the night;
02:55 and let them be for signs, and for seasons,
02:57 and for days, and years:
02:59 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven
03:02 to give light upon the earth: " and it was so.
03:07 And God made two great lights;
03:09 the greater light to rule the day,
03:12 and the lesser light to rule the night: He made the stars also.
03:16 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven
03:19 to give light upon the earth.
03:20 And to rule over the day and over the night,
03:23 and to divide the light from the darkness:
03:25 and God saw that it was good.
03:27 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
03:31 And God said, "Let the waters bring forth abundantly
03:35 the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly
03:39 above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. "
03:42 And God created great whales, and every living creature
03:46 that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly,
03:48 after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind:
03:52 and God saw that it was good.
03:55 And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful, and multiply,
03:59 and fill the waters in the seas,
04:01 and let fowl multiply in the earth.
04:04 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
04:07 And God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature
04:12 after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing,
04:15 and beast of the earth after his kind: " and it was so.
04:19 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind,
04:22 and cattle after their kind,
04:24 and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind:
04:27 and God saw that it was good.
04:30 And God said, "Let Us make man in Our image,
04:35 after Our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish
04:39 of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,
04:41 and over the cattle, and over all the earth,
04:43 and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. "
04:46 So God created man in His own image,
04:51 in the image of God created He him;
04:54 male and female created He them.
04:57 And God blessed them, and God said unto them,
05:00 "Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth,
05:04 and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea,
05:07 and over the fowl of the air,
05:09 and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. "
05:12 And God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing
05:17 seed, which is upon the face of all the earth,
05:19 and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed:
05:24 to you it shall be for meat.
05:27 And to every breast of the earth, and to every fowl
05:29 of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
05:32 wherein there is life, I have every given green herb
05:36 for meat: " and it was so.
05:38 And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold,
05:42 it was very good.
05:44 And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
05:47 We are reading the account of when God created the earth
05:50 from Genesis. We are now in chapter 2,
05:52 and this is the King James version.
05:54 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished,
05:57 and all the host of them.
05:59 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made:
06:03 and He rested on the seventh day
06:05 from all His work which He had made.
06:08 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it:
06:10 because that in it He had rested from all His work
06:14 which God created and made.
06:16 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth
06:20 when they were created, in the day that the Lord God
06:22 made the earth and the heavens.
06:24 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth,
06:27 and every herb of the field before it grew:
06:30 for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth,
06:33 and there was not a man to till the ground.
06:36 But there went up a mist from the earth,
06:38 and watered the whole face of the ground.
06:41 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground,
06:46 and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;
06:49 and man became a living soul.
06:53 And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden;
06:57 and there He put the man whom He had formed.
07:00 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree
07:04 that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food;
07:06 the tree of life also in the midst of the garden,
07:10 and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
07:13 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden;
07:17 and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
07:21 The name of the first is Pison:
07:23 that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah,
07:27 where there is gold;
07:29 and the gold of that land is good:
07:31 there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
07:33 And the name of the second river is Gihon:
07:36 the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.
07:39 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel:
07:42 that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria.
07:45 And the fourth river is Euphrates.
07:48 And the Lord God took the man,
07:50 and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
07:54 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying,
07:56 "Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
08:00 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,
08:03 thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou
08:07 eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. "
08:10 And the Lord God said,
08:11 "It is not good that the man should be alone:
08:14 I will make him a help meet for him. "
08:17 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast
08:20 of the field, and every fowl of the air;
08:21 and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them:
08:25 and whatsoever Adam called every living creature,
08:28 that was the name thereof.
08:29 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the
08:34 air, and to every beast of the field;
08:36 but for Adam there was not found a help meet for him.
08:41 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam,
08:45 and he slept: and He took one of his ribs,
08:49 and closed up the flesh instead thereof:
08:51 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man,
08:55 made He a woman, and brought her unto the man.
08:59 And Adam said, "This is now bone of my bones,
09:04 and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman,
09:08 because she was taken out of Man. "
09:10 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother,
09:15 and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh.
09:19 And they were both naked, the man and his wife,
09:22 and were not ashamed.
09:24 Again we are reading from the book of Genesis.
09:26 And now... chapter 3.
09:28 This is the King James version.
09:30 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field
09:34 which the Lord God had made.
09:36 And he said unto the woman,
09:40 "Yea, hath God said,
09:42 Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? "
09:45 And the woman said unto the serpent,
09:47 "We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
09:50 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the
09:53 garden, God hath said ye shall not eat of it,
09:56 neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. "
09:59 And the serpent said unto the woman,
10:02 "Ye shall not surely die:
10:03 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof,
10:07 then your eyes shall be opened,
10:09 and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. "
10:12 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food,
10:16 and that it was pleasant to the eyes,
10:19 and a tree to be desired to make one wise,
10:22 she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat,
10:26 and gave also unto her husband with her: and he did eat.
10:30 And the eyes of them both were opened,
10:33 and they knew that they were naked;
10:35 and they sewed fig leaves together;
10:37 and made themselves aprons.
10:39 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the
10:42 garden in the cool of the day:
10:44 and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence
10:48 of the Lord God, amongst the trees of the garden.
10:51 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him,
10:55 "Where art thou? "
10:56 And he said, "I heard Thy voice in the garden,
11:00 and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. "
11:04 And He said, "Who told thee that thou wast naked?
11:09 Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee
11:12 that thou shouldest not eat? "
11:14 And the man said, "The woman whom thou gavest
11:18 to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. "
11:22 And the Lord God said unto the woman,
11:24 "What is this that thou has done? "
11:27 And the woman said, "The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. "
11:32 And the Lord God said unto the serpent,
11:35 "Because thou hast done this,
11:38 thou art cursed above all cattle,
11:40 and above every beast of the field;
11:42 upon thy belly shalt thou go,
11:45 and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
11:48 and I will put enmity between thee and the woman,
11:52 and between thy seed and her seed;
11:55 it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. "
12:01 Unto the women He said,
12:03 "I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception;
12:07 in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children;
12:10 and thy desire shall be to thy husband,
12:13 and he shall rule over thee. "
12:15 And unto Adam He said,
12:17 "Because thou has hearkened unto the voice of thy wife,
12:21 and has eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying,
12:24 'Thou shalt not eat of it: '
12:26 cursed is the ground for thy sake;
12:29 in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
12:33 thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee;
12:37 and thou shalt eat the herb of the field:
12:40 in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread,
12:43 till thou return unto the ground;
12:46 for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art,
12:50 and unto dust shalt thou return. "
12:53 And Adam called his wife's name Eve;
12:56 because she was the mother of all living.
12:58 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats
13:02 of skins, and clothed them.
13:05 And the Lord God said, "Behold, the man is become
13:07 as one of Us, to know good and evil:
13:10 and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the
13:13 tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
13:15 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden,
13:19 to till the ground from whence he was taken.
13:22 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the
13:26 garden of Eden cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned
13:30 every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
13:34 We are reading from the book of Genesis, and we are
13:36 beginning now in chapter 4.
13:38 This is the King James version.
13:40 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived,
13:44 and bare Cain, and said,
13:46 "I have gotten a man from the Lord. "
13:49 And she again bare his brother Abel.
13:52 And Abel was a keeper of sheep,
13:55 but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
13:57 And in process of time it came to pass,
14:01 that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering
14:04 unto the Lord. And Abel, he also brought of the
14:08 firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof.
14:11 And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
14:16 But unto Cain and to his offering He had not respect.
14:21 And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
14:25 Thank you for joining with me today
14:28 to read of the Word of God.
14:29 Until we're together again, may God bless and keep you.
14:32 Goodbye.
