00:15 Hi and welcome back to His Words Are Life.
00:17 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and thank you
00:19 for joining with me today
00:20 to read the Bible. Before we read, let's pray together.
00:24 Dear Jesus, thank you that once again we can come and be
00:27 with You and hear Your words to us.
00:29 Please forgive us of our sins and please take from our mind
00:34 any thought that would distract us or stand between us
00:37 that the message that You wish for us to receive...
00:40 the blessing in the message that You have for us
00:42 in the words that we'll read today.
00:44 Please send Your Holy Spirit to guide us into a better
00:47 understanding of Your Love and of Your holiness.
00:51 And we love You so much and thank You for loving us. Amen.
00:54 We are reading in the book of Leviticus in chapter 16.
00:59 We have been reading about the sanctuary that Moses
01:02 and the Israelites prepared, and the different sacrifices
01:06 and offerings they would bring.
01:07 And we are picking up in the 16th chapter verse 30.
01:11 And this is the King James version.
01:13 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you:
01:17 to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins
01:20 before the Lord. It shall be a Sabbath of rest
01:23 unto you, and you shall afflict your souls,
01:25 by a statute for ever.
01:26 And the priest, whom he shall anoint,
01:28 and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest's
01:31 office in his father's stead, shall make the atonement,
01:34 and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:
01:37 And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary,
01:39 and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the
01:42 congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement
01:45 for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.
01:48 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you,
01:51 to make an atonement for the children of Israel
01:53 for all their sins once a year.
01:55 And he did as the Lord commanded Moses.
01:59 We are continuing now in Leviticus in chapter 17.
02:02 And this is the King James version.
02:04 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
02:07 Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons,
02:09 and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them:
02:12 This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded, saying,
02:15 What man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth an
02:18 ox, or lamb, or goat, in the camp,
02:22 or that killeth it out of the camp,
02:24 And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle
02:26 of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the Lord
02:29 before the tabernacle of the Lord; blood shall be imputed
02:33 unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be
02:37 cut off from among his people;
02:38 To the end that the children of Israel may bring their
02:41 sacrifices, which they offer in the open field,
02:44 even that they may bring them unto the Lord,
02:47 unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,
02:49 unto the priest, and offer them for peace offerings
02:52 unto the Lord. And the priest shall sprinkle the blood
02:55 upon the altar of the Lord at the door of the tabernacle
02:58 of the congregation, and burn the fat for a sweet savor
03:02 unto the Lord, And they shall no more offer their sacrifices
03:06 unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring.
03:09 This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their
03:12 generations. And thou shalt say unto them,
03:15 Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel,
03:17 or of the strangers which sojourn among you,
03:20 that offereth a burnt offering or sacrifice,
03:22 And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle
03:25 of the congregation, to offer it unto the Lord;
03:27 even that man shall be cut off from among his people.
03:30 And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel,
03:33 or of the strangers that sojourn among you,
03:36 that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against
03:40 that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off
03:42 from among his people.
03:43 For the life of the flesh is in the blood:
03:47 and I have give it to you upon the altar
03:49 to make an atonement for your souls:
03:51 for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
03:55 Therefore I said unto the children of Israel,
03:57 No soul of you shall eat blood,
03:59 neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood.
04:03 And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel,
04:07 or of the strangers that sojourn among you,
04:09 which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten;
04:13 he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust.
04:17 For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the
04:21 life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel,
04:24 You shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh:
04:26 for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof;
04:29 whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.
04:31 And every soul that eateth that which died of itself,
04:35 or that which was torn with beasts, whether it be
04:37 one of your own country, or a stranger,
04:39 he shall both wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water,
04:42 and be unclean until the even: and then shall be clean.
04:46 But if he wash them not, nor bathe his flesh;
04:49 then he shall bear his iniquity.
04:51 We're in Leviticus
04:53 in chapter 18.
04:54 And this is the King James version.
04:56 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
04:59 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them,
05:02 I am the Lord your God.
05:04 After the doings of the land of Egypt wherein ye dwelt,
05:08 shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan,
05:12 whither I bring you, shall ye not do:
05:16 neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.
05:19 Ye shall do My judgments, and keep Mine ordinances,
05:22 to walk therein: I am the Lord your God.
05:27 Ye shall therefore keep My statutes, and My judgments:
05:31 which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the Lord.
05:37 None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him,
05:42 to uncover their nakedness: I am the Lord.
05:45 The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother,
05:49 shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother;
05:52 thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
05:55 The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover:
05:59 it is thy father's nakedness.
06:00 The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father,
06:03 or daughter of thy mother whether she be born at home or
06:06 born abroad, even their naked- ness thou shalt not uncover.
06:09 The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's
06:13 daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover;
06:17 for theirs is thine own nakedness.
06:19 The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter,
06:22 begotten of thy father, she is thy sister,
06:25 thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
06:28 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's
06:30 sister: she is thy father's near kinswoman.
06:34 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother's
06:36 sister: for she is thy mother's near kinswoman.
06:39 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's
06:42 brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife; she is thine aunt.
06:47 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy
06:49 daughter-in-law: she is thy son's wife,
06:51 thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
06:53 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother's wife:
06:57 it is thy brother's nakedness.
06:59 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her
07:02 daughter, neither shalt thou take her son's daughter,
07:05 or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness;
07:08 for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.
07:11 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her,
07:15 to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.
07:18 Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her
07:22 nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness.
07:25 Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbor's
07:29 wife, to defile thyself with her.
07:31 And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire
07:35 to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God:
07:38 I am the Lord.
07:40 Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind:
07:43 it is abomination.
07:45 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself
07:48 therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast
07:52 to lie down thereto: it is confusion.
07:55 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things:
07:58 for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out
08:03 before you: And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit
08:07 the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth
08:10 out her inhabitants.
08:12 You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments,
08:15 and shall not commit any of these abominations;
08:17 neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that
08:20 sojourneth among you: (For all these abominations
08:23 have the men of the land done, which were before you,
08:26 and the land is defiled;)
08:28 That the land spew not you out also, when ye defile it,
08:32 as it spewed out the nations that were before you.
08:35 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations,
08:38 even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among
08:42 their people. Therefore shall ye keep Mine ordinance,
08:46 that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs,
08:49 which were committed before you, and that ye defile not
08:52 yourselves therein: I am the Lord your God.
08:57 Continuing on with Leviticus
08:59 in chapter 19.
09:00 This is the King James version.
09:01 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
09:05 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and
09:07 say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy.
09:13 Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father,
09:16 and keep My Sabbaths: I am the Lord your God.
09:19 Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods:
09:23 I am the Lord your God.
09:26 And if ye offer a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the Lord,
09:30 ye shall offer it at your own will.
09:33 It shall be eaten the same day you offer it, and on the morrow:
09:36 and if aught remain until the third day, it shall be burnt
09:39 in the fire. And if it be eaten at all of the third day,
09:42 it is abominable; it shall not be accepted.
09:45 Therefore every one that eateth it shall bear his iniquity,
09:50 because he hath profaned the hallowed thing of the Lord:
09:52 and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
09:55 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not
09:58 wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou
10:02 gather the gleanings of thy harvest.
10:04 And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou
10:07 gather every grape of thy vineyard: thou shalt leave them
10:10 for the poor and the stranger: I am the Lord your God.
10:14 Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely,
10:18 neither lie one to another.
10:19 And ye shall not swear by My name falsely, neither shalt thou
10:22 profane the name of thy God: I am the Lord.
10:25 Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbor, neither rob him:
10:29 the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee
10:32 all night until the morning.
10:34 Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block
10:37 before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the Lord.
10:42 You shall do no unrighteousness in judgment:
10:45 thou shalt not respect the person of the poor,
10:48 nor honor the person of the mighty:
10:50 but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbor.
10:53 Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people:
10:59 neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbor:
11:02 I am the Lord.
11:04 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart:
11:07 thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbor, and not suffer sin
11:11 upon him. Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the
11:16 children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor
11:20 as thyself: I am the Lord.
11:24 You shall keep My statutes, Thou shalt not let thy cattle
11:28 gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field
11:31 with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled
11:34 of linen and woolen come upon thee.
11:37 And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a
11:41 bondmaid, betrothed to a husband, and not at all
11:44 redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged;
11:48 they shall not be put to death, because she was not free.
11:51 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord,
11:55 unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,
11:58 even a ram for a trespass offering.
12:01 And the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram
12:04 of the trespass offering before the Lord
12:06 for his sin which he hath done: and the sin which he hath done
12:10 shall be forgiven him.
12:12 And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted
12:15 all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit
12:18 thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as
12:23 uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of.
12:26 But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy
12:29 to praise the Lord withal.
12:31 And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof,
12:35 that it may yield unto you the increase thereof:
12:38 I am the Lord your God.
12:40 Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood:
12:44 neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.
12:47 You shall not round the corners of your heads,
12:49 neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
12:52 You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead,
12:56 nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.
12:59 Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore;
13:03 lest the land fall to whoredom,
13:05 and the land become full of wickedness.
13:07 Ye shall keep My Sabbaths, and reverence My sanctuary:
13:12 I am the Lord.
13:13 Regard not them that have familiar spirits,
13:17 neither seek after wizards to be defiled by them:
13:21 I am the Lord your God.
13:24 Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honor the face
13:28 of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the Lord.
13:33 And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land,
13:36 ye shall not vex him.
13:38 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you
13:41 as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself;
13:44 for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt:
13:46 I am the Lord your God.
13:48 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard,
13:53 in weight, or in measure. Just balances,
13:57 just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have:
14:01 I am the Lord your God, which brought you out of the land
14:04 of Egypt. Therefore shall ye observe all My statutes,
14:08 and all My judgments, and do them: I am the Lord.
14:14 The next time we are together
14:15 we'll continue reading in
14:16 Leviticus chapter 20.
14:18 But until then, the lessons that God laid out for the Israelites
14:22 are just as applicable to each one of us today.
14:24 We are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.
14:26 We are to treat others the way we wish to be treated
14:28 and do everything fairly and honorably.
14:31 Not bearing false witness; not bearing tales among each other.
14:34 Let's live as children of the light.
14:36 Join with me next time, goodbye.
