00:15 Hi and welcome back to His Words Are Life.
00:17 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and thank you 00:19 for being with me again. 00:21 You know, David wrote that... 00:22 he wrote about the Word. 00:23 He said: "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet 00:25 and a light unto my path. " 00:26 In the very first verse that we are going to start off reading 00:29 it says much that same thing: 00:30 that those who keep the Word of God walk in safety 00:34 and dwell in safety. 00:35 Before we start reading, let's pray together. 00:38 Dear Jesus, thank you so much 00:40 that You did not leave us here to find our way on our own 00:44 but You sent us a guidebook, a map. 00:47 You sent us statutes and laws and principles 00:50 that teach us how to serve You, how to serve each other, 00:55 how to live in safety and peace. 00:58 We can't... there's nothing good in any of us. 01:01 We can't even desire to obey these statutes 01:04 except that You put that desire in us. 01:06 So as we read Your words, please give us the will to do 01:10 and to hear... and then to carry out all that we read 01:14 and learn from You. 01:16 We love You so much; thank you for loving us. Amen. 01:19 We are reading in the book of Leviticus, 01:21 and we are on chapter 25. 01:23 When we were last together we read part-way into verse 18. 01:27 I am going to go back and start at verse 18 again. 01:29 This is the King James version. 01:31 Wherefore ye shall do My statutes, and keep My judgments, 01:35 and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety. 01:40 And the land shall yield her fruit, 01:42 and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety. 01:45 And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? 01:48 behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase: 01:51 Then I will command My blessing upon you in the sixth year, 01:55 and it shall bring forth fruit for three years. 01:59 And ye shall sow the eighth year, and eat yet of old fruit 02:02 until the ninth year; until her fruits come in ye shall eat 02:06 of the old store. The land shall not be sold for ever: 02:09 for the land is Mine; 02:10 for ye are strangers and sojourners with Me. 02:13 And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant 02:16 a redemption for the land. 02:18 If thy brother be waxen poor, and hath sold away some of his 02:22 possession, and if any of his kin come to redeem it, 02:26 then shall he redeem that which his brother sold. 02:30 And if the man have none to redeem it, 02:33 and himself be able to redeem it; 02:38 Then let him count the years of the sale thereof, 02:40 and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; 02:43 that he may return unto his possession. 02:46 But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is 02:50 sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it 02:53 until the year of jubilee: and in the jubilee it shall go out, 02:57 and he shall return unto his possession. 02:59 And if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled city, 03:03 then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; 03:06 within a full year may he redeem it. 03:09 And if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, 03:13 then the house that is in the walled city shall be established 03:17 for ever to him that bought it throughout his generations: 03:20 it shall not go out in the jubilee. 03:23 But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about 03:26 them shall be counted as the fields of the country: 03:29 they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubilee. 03:33 Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites, 03:36 and the houses of the cities of their possession, 03:38 may the Levites redeem at any time. 03:41 And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was 03:45 sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the 03:49 year of jubilee: for the houses of the cities of the Levites 03:52 are their possession among the children of Israel. 03:56 But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; 03:59 for it is their perpetual possession. 04:02 And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay 04:07 with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: 04:09 yea, though he be a stranger, or a sojourner; 04:13 that he may live with thee. 04:17 Take thou no usury of him, or increase: but fear thy God; 04:21 that thy brother may live with thee. 04:24 Thou shalt not give him thy money upon usury, 04:27 nor lend him thy victuals for increase. 04:29 I am the Lord your God, which brought you forth out of the 04:32 land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, 04:35 and to be your God. 04:37 And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, 04:42 and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him 04:45 to serve as a bondservant: 04:47 But as a hired servant, and as a sojourner, 04:50 he shall be with thee, 04:52 and shall serve thee unto the year of jubilee: 04:55 And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children 04:58 with him, and shall return unto his own family, 05:00 and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return. 05:04 For they are My servants, which I brought forth out of the 05:07 land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondsmen. 05:10 Thou shalt not rule over him with rigor; 05:13 but shalt fear thy God. 05:15 Both thy bondmen, and thy bond- maids, which thou shalt have, 05:19 shall be of the heathen that are round about you; 05:23 of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. 05:27 Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn 05:30 among you, of them shall ye buy, 05:33 and of their families that are with you, which they begat 05:36 in your land: and they shall be your possession. 05:38 And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children 05:41 after you, to inherit them for a possession; 05:43 they shall be your bondmen for ever: 05:45 but over your brethren the children of Israel, 05:48 ye shall not rule one over another with rigor. 05:51 And if a sojourner or stranger wax rich by thee, 05:56 and thy brother that dwelleth by them wax poor, 05:59 and sell himself unto the stranger or sojourner by thee, 06:04 or to the stock of the stranger's family: 06:06 After that he is sold he may be redeemed again; 06:09 one of his brethren may redeem him: 06:11 Either his uncle, or his uncle's son, may redeem him, 06:14 or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family 06:17 may redeem him; or if he be able, he may redeem himself. 06:21 And he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year 06:25 that he was sold to him unto the year of jubilee: 06:28 and the price of his sale shall be according unto the number 06:31 of years, according to the time of a hired servant 06:34 shall it be with him. 06:36 If there be yet many years behind, according unto them 06:41 he shall give again the price of his redemption 06:43 out of the money that he was bought for. 06:45 And if there remain but few years unto the year of jubilee, 06:49 then he shall count with him, and according unto his years 06:53 shall he give him again the price of his redemption. 06:56 And as a yearly hired servant shall he be with him: 07:00 and the other shall not rule with rigor over him 07:03 in thy sight. 07:04 And if he be not redeemed in these years, 07:06 then he shall got out in the year of jubilee, 07:08 both he, and his children with him. 07:09 For unto Me the children of Israel are servants; 07:13 they are My servants whom I brought forth 07:16 out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God. 07:20 We are continuing to read 07:21 in the book of Leviticus. 07:23 This is chapter 26, and I am 07:24 reading from the King James version. 07:26 Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, 07:30 neither rear you up a standing image, 07:33 neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, 07:36 to bow down unto it: for I am the Lord your God. 07:40 Ye shall keep My Sabbaths, and reverence My sanctuary: 07:43 I am the Lord. 07:45 If ye walk in My statutes, and keep My commandments, 07:48 and do them; Then I will give you rain in due season, 07:52 and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the 07:55 field shall yield their fruit. 07:57 And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, 08:02 and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: 08:04 and ye shall eat your bread to the full, 08:06 and dwell in your land safely. 08:09 And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, 08:12 and none shall make you afraid: 08:15 and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, 08:18 neither shall the sword go through your land. 08:20 And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you 08:23 by the sword. And five of you shall chase a hundred, 08:27 and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: 08:30 and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword. 08:34 For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, 08:38 and multiply you, and establish My covenant with you. 08:41 And ye shall eat old store, 08:43 and bring forth the old because of the new. 08:45 And I will set My tabernacle among you: 08:48 and My soul shalt not abhor you. 08:51 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, 08:55 and ye shall be My people. 08:57 I am the Lord your God, 08:59 which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, 09:01 that ye should not be their bondmen; 09:03 and I have broken the bands of your yoke, 09:06 and made you to go upright. But if you will not hearken 09:08 unto Me, and will not do all these commandments; 09:11 And if ye shall despise My statutes, or if your soul abhor 09:15 My judgments, so that ye will not do all My commandments, 09:18 but that ye break My covenant: 09:20 I also will do this unto you; 09:23 I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, 09:27 and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, 09:31 and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed 09:35 in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. 09:37 And I will set My face against you, and you shall be slain 09:42 before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; 09:45 and you shall flee when none pursueth you. 09:48 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto Me, 09:52 then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. 09:57 And I will break the pride of your power; 10:00 and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass: 10:05 And your strength shall be spent in vain: 10:08 for your land shall not yield her increase, 10:11 neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits. 10:14 And if ye walk contrary unto Me, and will not hearken unto Me; 10:19 I will bring seven times more plagues upon you 10:22 according to your sins. 10:25 I will also send wild beasts among you, 10:28 which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your 10:31 cattle, and make you few in number, 10:33 and your high ways shall be desolate. 10:36 And if ye will not be reformed by Me by these things, 10:41 but will walk contrary unto Me; 10:43 Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you 10:48 yet seven times for your sins. 10:51 And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge 10:53 the quarrel of My covenant: and when ye are gathered 10:56 together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among 10:59 you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. 11:03 And when I have broken the staff of your bread, 11:06 ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, 11:08 and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: 11:11 and you shall eat, and not be satisfied. 11:14 And if you will not for all this hearken unto Me, 11:18 but walk contrary unto Me; Then I will walk contrary 11:22 unto you also in fury; and I, even I, 11:27 will chastise you seven times for your sins. 11:30 And you shall eat the flesh of your sons, 11:32 and the flesh of your daughters shall you eat. 11:35 And I will destroy your high places, 11:37 and cut down your images, and cast your carcasses upon the 11:41 carcasses of your idols, and My soul shall abhor you. 11:45 And I will make your cities waste, 11:47 and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, 11:50 and I will not smell the savor of your sweet odors. 11:54 And I will bring the land into desolation: 11:56 and your enemies which dwell therein 11:58 shall be astonished at it. 12:01 And I will scatter you among the heathen, 12:04 and will draw out a sword after you: 12:07 and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste. 12:10 Then shall the land enjoy her Sabbaths, 12:13 as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies' land; 12:16 even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her Sabbaths. 12:19 As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not 12:24 rest in your Sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it. 12:26 And upon them that are left alive of you I will send 12:30 a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; 12:35 and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; 12:39 and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; 12:41 and they shall fall when none pursueth. 12:45 And they shall fall one upon another as it were 12:48 before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have 12:50 no power to stand before your enemies. 12:54 And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your 12:56 enemies shall eat you up. 12:59 And they that are left of you shall pine away in their 13:03 iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities 13:07 of their fathers shall they pine away with them. 13:10 If they shall confess their iniquity and the iniquity 13:13 of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed 13:16 against Me, and that also they have walked contrary unto Me; 13:20 And that I also have walked contrary unto them, 13:23 and have brought them into the land of their enemies; 13:25 if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, 13:30 and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: 13:33 Then will I remember My covenant with Jacob, 13:36 and also My covenant with Isaac, 13:38 and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; 13:41 and I will remember the land. 13:43 The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her 13:47 Sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: 13:50 and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: 13:53 because, even because they despised My judgments, 13:56 and because their soul abhorred My statutes. 13:58 And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, 14:02 I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, 14:06 to destroy them utterly, and to break My covenant with them: 14:10 for I am the Lord their God. 14:12 But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their 14:15 ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt 14:18 in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: 14:22 I am the Lord. 14:23 These are the statutes 14:26 and judgments and laws, 14:28 which the Lord made between Him and the children of Israel 14:32 in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses. 14:35 Thank you for joining with me. 14:37 Please come again next time to read the Word of God. 14:39 Goodbye. |
