00:16 Hello and welcome to "His words are life."
00:18 I am Kelly Mowrer and today we 00:19 are reading together in the book of Psalms. 00:21 Before we start, let's pray. 00:23 Oh, heavenly Father, thank you so much 00:26 for your word which is a light to our 00:28 path and is bread for our nourishment 00:32 and is a hedge of protection around us. 00:36 Please help us to hear these words and apply 00:40 them in the ways that you have for each 00:42 of us who are listening right now. 00:45 We love you so much and 00:46 thank you for loving us, amen. 00:49 We're reading in Psalm chapter 84 00:51 beginning with verse 9, this is the King James 00:53 Version. Behold, O God our shield, 00:58 and look upon the face of thine anointed. 01:01 For a day in thy courts is better 01:03 than a thousand. I had rather be a 01:05 doorkeeper in the house of my God, 01:08 than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. 01:10 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: 01:13 the Lord will give grace and glory: 01:16 no good thing will he withhold from them 01:20 that walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, 01:24 blessed is the man who trusteth in thee. 01:28 Psalms 85. This is the King James Version. 01:32 Lord, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: 01:34 thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob. 01:38 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, 01:41 thou hast covered all their sin. Selah. 01:45 Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: 01:48 thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness 01:50 of thine anger. Turn us, O God of our salvation, 01:55 and cause thine anger toward us to cease. 01:59 Wilt thou be angry with us forever? 02:01 Wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations? 02:06 Wilt thou not revive us again: 02:09 that thy people may rejoice in thee? 02:11 Show us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant 02:14 us thy salvation. I will hear what God 02:18 the Lord will speak: for he will speak 02:21 peace unto his people, and to his saints: 02:24 but let them not turn again to folly. 02:28 Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; 02:32 that glory may dwell in our land. 02:36 Mercy and truth are met together; 02:39 righteousness and peace have kissed each other. 02:44 Truth shall spring out of the earth; 02:46 and righteousness shall look down from heaven. 02:49 Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good; 02:53 and our land shall yield her increase. 02:56 Righteousness shall go before him; 02:57 and shall set us in the way of his steps. 03:02 Psalm 86. This is the King James Version. 03:06 Bow down thine ear, O Lord, hear me: 03:10 for I am poor and needy. Preserve my soul; 03:14 for I am holy: O thou my God, 03:18 save thy servant that trusteth in thee. 03:22 Be merciful unto me, O Lord: 03:25 for I cry unto thee daily. 03:28 Rejoice the soul of thy servant: 03:30 for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. 03:34 For thou Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; 03:37 and plenteous in mercy unto all them that 03:41 call upon thee. Give ear, O Lord, 03:45 unto my prayer; and attend to the 03:47 voice of my supplications. 03:50 In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: 03:54 for thou wilt answer me. Among the gods there 03:57 is none like unto thee, O Lord; 03:59 neither are there any works like 04:02 unto thy works. All nations whom 04:05 thou hast made shall come and worship 04:07 before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify 04:09 thy name. For thou art great, 04:11 and doest wondrous things: 04:14 thou art God alone. Teach me thy way, 04:19 O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: 04:22 unite my heart to fear thy name. 04:26 I will praise thee, O Lord my God, 04:28 with all my heart: and I will glorify 04:31 thy name for evermore. For great is thy mercy 04:35 toward me: and thou hast 04:37 delivered my soul from the lowest hell. 04:40 O God, the proud are risen against me, 04:43 and the assemblies of violent men have 04:45 sought after my soul; and have not set thee 04:48 before them. But thou, O Lord, 04:52 art a God full of compassion, 04:55 and gracious, long suffering, and 04:59 plenteous in mercy and truth. 05:01 O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; 05:05 give thy strength unto thy servant, 05:08 and save the son of thine handmaid. 05:11 Show me a token for good; that they which hate 05:15 me may see it, and be ashamed: 05:17 because thou, Lord, hast holpen me, 05:21 and comforted me. Psalm 87. 05:26 His foundation is in the holy mountains. 05:29 The Lord loveth the gates of Zion 05:31 more than all the dwellings of Jacob. 05:34 Glorious things are spoken of thee, 05:36 O city of God. Selah. I will make mention 05:41 of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: 05:45 behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; 05:48 this man was born there. 05:50 And of Zion it shall be said, 05:53 This and that man was born in her: 05:55 and the highest himself shall establish her. 05:58 The Lord shall count, when he writeth 06:01 up the people, that this man was 06:03 born there. Selah. As well the singers as 06:07 the players on instruments 06:09 shall be there: all my springs are in thee. 06:14 Psalm 88. This is the King James Version. 06:19 O Lord God of my salvation, 06:22 I have cried day and night before thee: 06:25 Let my prayer come before thee: 06:27 incline thine ear unto my cry; 06:30 For my soul is full of troubles: 06:33 and my life draweth nigh unto the grave. 06:37 I am counted with them that go down 06:39 into the pit: I am as a man that 06:42 hath no strength: Free among the dead, 06:45 like the slain that lie in the grave, 06:47 whom thou rememberest no more: 06:49 and they are cut off from thy hand. 06:52 Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, 06:54 in darkness, in the deeps. 06:57 Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, 06:59 and thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. 07:02 Selah. Thou hast put away mine acquaintance 07:05 far from me; thou hast made me 07:08 an abomination unto them: I am shut up, 07:12 and I cannot come forth. Mine eye mourneth by 07:16 reason of affliction: Lord, I have called 07:19 daily upon thee, I have stretched 07:20 out my hands unto thee. Wilt thou show wonders 07:23 to the dead? Shall the dead arise 07:25 and praise thee? Selah. Shall thy lovingkindness 07:29 be declared in the grave? Or thy faithfulness 07:32 in destruction? Shall thy wonders 07:34 be known in the dark? And thy righteousness 07:36 in the land of forgetfulness? 07:39 But unto thee have I cried, O Lord; 07:42 and in the morning shall my prayer prevent thee. 07:46 Lord, why castest thou off my soul? 07:51 Why hidest thou thy face from me? 07:54 I am afflicted and ready to die from my 07:56 youth up: while I suffer thy 07:58 terrors I am distracted. Thy fierce wrath goeth 08:02 over me; thy terrors have cut me off. 08:05 They came round about me daily like water; 08:07 they compassed me about together. 08:09 Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, 08:13 and mine acquaintance into darkness. Psalm 89. 08:18 This is the King James Version. 08:21 I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever: 08:25 with my mouth will I make known thy 08:27 faithfulness to all generations. 08:31 For I have said, Mercy shall be 08:32 built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt 08:35 thou establish in the very heavens. 08:38 I have made a covenant with my chosen, 08:40 I have sworn unto David my servant, 08:42 Thy seed will I establish forever, 08:44 and build up thy throne to all generations. 08:47 Selah. And the heavens shall praise 08:50 thy wonders, O Lord: thy faithfulness 08:53 also in the congregation of the saints. 08:56 For who in the heaven can be compared 08:58 unto the Lord? Who among the sons 09:00 of the mighty can be likened unto the Lord? 09:04 God is greatly to be feared in the 09:06 assembly of the saints, and to be had in 09:08 reverence of all them that are about him. 09:12 O Lord God of hosts, who is a strong Lord 09:15 like unto thee? Or to thy faithfulness 09:19 around about thee? Thou rulest the raging 09:21 of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, 09:26 thou stillest them. Thou hast broken 09:29 Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; 09:33 thou hast scattered thine enemies 09:35 with thy strong arm. The heavens are thine, 09:39 the earth also is thine: as for the world 09:43 and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded 09:46 them. The north and the south thou hast 09:49 created them: Tabor and Hermon 09:53 shall rejoice in thy name. 09:56 Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, 09:59 and high is thy right hand. 10:01 Justice and judgment are the habitation 10:04 of thy throne: mercy and truth shall 10:07 go before thy face. Blessed is the people 10:11 that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, 10:14 O Lord, in the light of thy countenance. 10:17 In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: 10:21 and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. 10:24 For thou art the glory of their strength: 10:28 and in thy favor our horn shall be exalted. 10:31 For the Lord is our defense; 10:34 and the Holy One of Israel is our king. 10:38 Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, 10:41 and saidst, I have laid help 10:43 upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one 10:46 chosen out of the people. I have found David 10:49 my servant; with my holy oil 10:52 have I anointed him: With whom my hand 10:55 shall be established: mine arm also shall 10:59 strengthen him. The enemy shall not 11:02 exact upon him; nor the son of 11:05 wickedness afflict him. And I will beat down 11:08 his foes before his face, and plague them 11:11 that hate him. But my faithfulness 11:15 and my mercy shall be with him: 11:18 and in my name shall his horn be exalted. 11:23 I will set his hand also in the sea, 11:25 and his right hand in the rivers. 11:27 He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, 11:30 my God, and the rock of my salvation. 11:33 Also I will make him my firstborn, 11:38 higher than the Kings of the earth. 11:41 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, 11:44 and my covenant shall stand fast with him. 11:48 His seed also will I make to endure for ever, 11:51 and his throne as the days of heaven. 11:54 If his children forsake my law, 11:57 and walk not in my judgments; 11:59 If they break my statutes, 12:01 and keep not my commandments; 12:03 Then will I visit their transgression 12:05 with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. 12:08 Nevertheless my loving kindness will I not 12:12 utterly take from him, nor suffer my 12:15 faithfulness to fail. My covenant 12:19 will I not break, nor alter the thing 12:22 that is gone out of my lips. 12:25 Once have I sworn by my holiness 12:27 that I will not lie unto David. 12:30 His seed shall endure for ever, 12:32 and his throne as the sun before me. 12:35 It shall be established for ever as the moon, 12:38 and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah. 12:42 But thou hast cast off and abhorred, 12:45 thou hast been wroth with thine anointed. 12:47 Thou hast made void the covenant 12:49 of thy servant: thou hast profaned 12:50 his crown by casting it to the ground. 12:53 Thou hast broken down all his hedges; 12:55 thou hast brought his strongholds to ruin. 12:57 All that pass by the way spoil him: 13:00 he is a reproach to his neighbors. 13:03 Thou hast set up the right hand of 13:04 his adversaries; thou hast made all 13:06 his enemies to rejoice. Thou hast also turned 13:08 the edge of his sword, and hast not made him 13:10 to stand in the battle. Thou hast made his 13:13 glory to cease, and cast his throne 13:15 down to the ground. The days of his youth 13:18 hast thou shortened: thou hast covered 13:20 him with shame. Selah. How long, Lord? 13:25 Wilt thou hide thyself forever? 13:28 Shall thy wrath burn like fire? 13:31 Remember how short my time is: 13:33 wherefore hast thou made all men in vain? 13:36 What man is he that liveth, 13:37 and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul 13:39 from the hand of the grave? Selah. Lord, 13:43 where are thy former lovingkindnesses, 13:46 which thou swarest unto David in thy truth? 13:50 Remember, Lord, the reproach 13:52 of thy servants; how I do bear in my 13:55 bosom the reproach of all the mighty people; 13:58 Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, 14:00 O Lord; wherewith they have reproached 14:02 the footsteps of thine anointed. 14:05 Blessed be the Lord for evermore. 14:07 Amen, and Amen. Psalm 90. Lord, 14:15 thou hast been our dwelling place 14:17 in all generations. Before the mountains 14:20 were brought forth, or ever thou hadst 14:22 formed the earth and the world, 14:24 even from everlasting to everlasting, 14:27 thou art God. Thou turnest man 14:29 to destruction; and sayest, Return, 14:31 ye children of men. For a thousand years 14:33 in thy sight are but as yesterday 14:35 when it is past, and as a watch in the night. |
