00:15 Hello and welcome back to "His Words are Life."
00:18 I am Kelly Mower and today we are going
00:20 to continue reading together in the book
00:22 of Psalms, but let's pray before we start.
00:26 Dear Heavenly Father, it is so wonderful to
00:30 sit and to read the words of David
00:33 and the other authors of these songs
00:36 of praise to you, but more than
00:38 just hearing them, may they become
00:40 our song of praise to you also because
00:43 you have dealt so mercifully to
00:45 everyone of us. Thank you, we love you
00:47 and thank you for loving us, amen.
00:51 We are beginning in Psalm chapter 139
00:55 with verse 13, and this is the King James Version.
01:00 For thou hast possessed my reins:
01:03 thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
01:07 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and
01:09 wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works;
01:13 and that my soul knoweth right well.
01:17 My substance was not hid from thee,
01:20 when I was made in secret,
01:21 and curiously wrought in the lowest
01:24 parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see
01:27 my substance, yet being unperfect;
01:30 and in thy book all my members were written,
01:34 which in continuance were fashioned,
01:37 when as yet there was none of them.
01:40 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me,
01:44 O God! how great is the sum of them!
01:48 If I should count them, they are more in
01:50 number than the sand: when I awake,
01:54 I am still with thee. Surely thou wilt slay
01:58 the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore,
02:00 ye bloody men. For they speak
02:03 against thee wickedly, and thine enemies
02:04 take thy name in vain. Do not I hate them,
02:07 O LORD, that hate thee? And am not I grieved with
02:12 those that rise up against thee?
02:15 I hate them with perfect hatred:
02:17 I count them mine enemies. Search me,
02:21 O God, and know my heart: try me,
02:26 and know my thoughts: And see if there be any
02:29 wicked way in me, and lead me in the way
02:33 everlasting. Psalm 140. This is the
02:37 King James Version. Deliver me, O LORD,
02:41 from the evil man: preserve me from
02:44 the violent man; Which imagine mischiefs
02:47 in their heart; continually are they
02:49 gathered together for war.
02:52 They have sharpened their tongues
02:53 like a serpent; adders' poison is
02:56 under their lips. Selah. Keep me, O LORD,
02:59 from the hands of the wicked;
03:01 preserve me from the violent man;
03:04 who have purposed to overthrow my goings.
03:08 The proud have hid a snare for me,
03:10 and cords; they have spread a
03:12 net by the wayside; they have set gins for me.
03:16 Selah. I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God:
03:22 hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.
03:24 O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation,
03:28 thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.
03:31 Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked:
03:35 further not his wicked device;
03:37 lest they exalt themselves. Selah.
03:41 As for the head of those that compass
03:42 me about, let the mischief of their own
03:45 lips cover them. Let burning coals
03:48 fall upon them: let them be cast into
03:50 the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up
03:53 again. Let not an evil speaker be established
03:57 in the earth: evil shall hunt the
04:00 violent man to overthrow him.
04:03 I know that the LORD will maintain the cause
04:07 of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.
04:11 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto
04:14 thy name: the upright shall dwell in
04:17 thy presence. Psalm chapter 141. Lord,
04:23 I cry unto thee: make haste unto me;
04:26 give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.
04:29 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense;
04:32 and the lifting up of my hands as the
04:35 evening sacrifice. Set a watch, O LORD,
04:40 before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
04:45 Incline not my heart to any evil thing,
04:48 to practise wicked works with men that work
04:50 iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.
04:54 Let the righteous smite me;
04:55 it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me;
04:59 it shall be an excellent oil,
05:00 which shall not break my head:
05:03 for yet my prayer also shall be in
05:05 their calamities. When their judges are
05:08 overthrown in stony places,
05:09 they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.
05:12 Our bones are scattered at the grave's
05:14 mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth
05:16 wood upon the earth. But mine eyes are unto
05:21 thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust;
05:26 leave not my soul destitute.
05:29 Keep me from the snares which they
05:31 have laid for me, and the gins of the
05:32 workers of iniquity. Let the wicked fall
05:37 into their own nets, whilst that
05:38 I withal escape. Psalm 142: I cried unto
05:44 the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto
05:47 the LORD did I make my supplication.
05:49 I poured out my complaint before him;
05:52 I shewed before him my trouble.
05:55 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me,
05:59 then thou knewest my path.
06:03 In the way wherein I walked have they
06:05 privily laid a snare for me.
06:08 I looked on my right hand, and beheld,
06:10 but there was no man that would know me:
06:12 refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.
06:16 I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said,
06:18 Thou art my refuge and my portion in the
06:20 land of the living. Attend unto my cry;
06:24 for I am brought very low:
06:26 deliver me from my persecutors;
06:28 for they are stronger than I.
06:31 Bring my soul out of prison,
06:33 that I may praise thy name:
06:36 the righteous shall compass me about;
06:39 for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.
06:43 Psalm 143, this is the King James Version.
06:48 Hear my prayer, O LORD,
06:51 give ear to my supplications:
06:54 in thy faithfulness answer me,
06:56 and in thy righteousness.
06:59 And enter not into judgment with
07:01 thy servant: for in thy sight shall
07:05 no man living be justified.
07:09 For the enemy hath persecuted my soul;
07:11 he hath smitten my life down to the ground;
07:14 he hath made me to dwell in darkness,
07:16 as those that have been long dead.
07:18 Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me;
07:21 my heart within me is desolate.
07:25 I remember the days of old;
07:27 I meditate on all thy works;
07:30 I muse on the work of thy hands.
07:34 I stretch forth my hands unto thee:
07:36 my soul thirsteth after thee,
07:39 as a thirsty land. Selah. Hear me speedily,
07:43 O LORD: my spirit faileth:
07:47 hide not thy face from me,
07:49 lest I be like unto them that go down
07:51 into the pit. Cause me to hear thy
07:55 lovingkindness in the morning;
07:57 for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the
08:01 way wherein I should walk;
08:04 for I lift up my soul unto thee.
08:07 Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies:
08:13 I flee unto thee to hide me.
08:14 Teach me to do thy will;
08:15 for thou art my God: thy spirit is good;
08:19 lead me into the land of uprightness.
08:22 Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name's sake:
08:25 for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul
08:27 out of trouble. And of thy mercy
08:31 cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them
08:33 that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.
08:38 Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my strength
08:44 which teacheth my hands to war,
08:46 and my fingers to fight: My goodness,
08:50 and my fortress; my high tower,
08:52 and my deliverer; my shield,
08:55 and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my
08:58 people under me. LORD, what is man,
09:03 that thou takest knowledge of him!
09:06 Or the son of man, that thou makest
09:08 account of him! Man is like to vanity:
09:11 his days are as a shadow that passeth away.
09:15 Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down:
09:18 touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
09:21 Cast forth lightning, and scatter them:
09:23 shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them.
09:26 Send thine hand from above; rid me,
09:28 and deliver me out of great waters,
09:30 from the hand of strange children;
09:32 Whose mouth speaketh vanity,
09:33 and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
09:37 I will sing a new song unto thee, O God:
09:40 upon a psaltery and an instrument of
09:41 ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.
09:45 It is he that giveth salvation unto kings:
09:47 who delivereth David his servant from the
09:50 hurtful sword. Rid me, and deliver me from
09:53 the hand of strange children,
09:54 whose mouth speaketh vanity,
09:56 and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
10:00 That our sons may be as plants grown up
10:02 in their youth; that our daughters maybe as
10:05 corner stones, polished after the similitude
10:09 of a palace: That our garners may be full,
10:13 affording all manner of store:
10:18 that our sheep may bring forth thousands
10:19 and ten thousands in our streets:
10:20 That our oxen may be strong to labour;
10:23 that there be no breaking in,
10:26 nor going out; that there be no complaining
10:27 in our streets. Happy is that people,
10:31 that is in such a case: yea,
10:35 happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
10:40 Psalm 145, and this is the King James Version.
10:45 I will extol thee, my God, O king;
10:48 and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.
10:51 Every day will I bless thee;
10:53 name for ever and ever.
10:56 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;
10:59 and his greatness is unsearchable.
11:02 One generation shall praise thy
11:03 works to another, and shall declare thy
11:05 mighty acts. I will speak of the glorious
11:08 honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous
11:11 works. And men shall speak of the might
11:14 of thy terrible acts:
11:15 and I will declare thy greatness.
11:19 They shall abundantly utter the memory
11:21 of thy great goodness,
11:22 and shall sing of thy righteousness.
11:25 The LORD is gracious,
11:26 and full of compassion; slow to anger,
11:30 and of great mercy. The LORD is good to all:
11:34 and his tender mercies are over all his works.
11:38 All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD;
11:40 and thy saints shall bless thee.
11:43 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom,
11:45 and talk of thy power;
11:47 To make known to the sons of
11:48 men his mighty acts, and the glorious
11:50 majesty of his kingdom. Thy kingdom is an
11:54 everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion
11:57 endureth throughout all generations.
12:01 The LORD upholdeth all that fall,
12:05 and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.
12:08 The eyes of all wait upon thee;
12:10 and thou givest them their meat in due season.
12:13 Thou openest thine hand,
12:15 and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.
12:20 The LORD is righteous in all his ways,
12:22 and holy in all his works.
12:25 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him,
12:29 to all that call upon him in truth.
12:33 He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him:
12:37 he also will hear their cry,
12:39 and will save them. The LORD preserveth
12:42 all them that love him:
12:44 but all the wicked will he destroy.
12:47 My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD:
12:51 and let all flesh bless his holy name
12:54 for ever and ever. Psalm 146, this is the
12:59 King James Version. Praise ye the LORD.
13:03 Praise the LORD, O my soul.
13:05 While I live will I praise the LORD:
13:07 I will sing praises unto my God while I
13:09 have any being. Put not your trust in princes,
13:13 nor in the son of man,
13:15 in whom there is no help.
13:17 His breath goeth forth,
13:19 he returneth to his earth;
13:21 in that very day his thoughts perish.
13:24 Happy is he that hath the God of
13:25 Jacob for his help, whose hope is in
13:28 the LORD his God: Which made heaven,
13:31 and earth, the sea, and all that therein is:
13:34 which keepeth truth for ever:
13:36 Which executeth judgment for the oppressed:
13:39 which giveth food to the hungry.
13:41 The LORD looseth the prisoners:
13:43 The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind:
13:45 the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down:
13:48 the LORD loveth the righteous:
13:50 The LORD preserveth the strangers;
13:53 he relieveth the fatherless and widow:
13:56 but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
13:59 The LORD shall reign for ever,
14:01 even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations.
14:05 Praise ye the LORD. Psalm 147:
14:10 Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing
14:12 praises unto our God; for it is pleasant;
14:16 and praise is comely. The LORD doth build up
14:19 Jerusalem: he gathereth together
14:21 the outcasts of Israel. He healeth the
14:24 broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
14:28 He telleth the number of the stars;
14:30 he calleth them all by their names.
14:33 Great is our Lord, and of great power:
14:36 his understanding is infinite.
