00:14 Hello and welcome to His Words Are Life
00:17 I'm Kelly Mowrer and today we're going to read from the book of
00:20 Isaiah. But before we start let's pray together.
00:22 Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for these beautiful words that
00:29 remind us that you are our Redeemer, the Holy One, the
00:33 Creator, our Savior and our friend. Please be with us now
00:38 as we read you word. Amen We're reading in Isaiah chapter
00:42 44 beginning with verse 24 and this is the King James Version.
00:47 Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer, and he that formed
00:52 thee from the womb, I am the Lord that maketh all things;
00:57 that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth
01:01 abroad the earth by myself; that frustrateth the tokens of the
01:06 liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward,
01:11 and maketh their knowledge foolish; that confirmeth the
01:14 word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his
01:17 messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be
01:20 inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and
01:24 I will raise up the decayed places thereof: that sayeth
01:28 to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers: that saith
01:32 of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure:
01:37 even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the
01:41 temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.
01:44 Continuing in Isaiah chapter 45. This is the King James Version.
01:49 Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right
01:53 hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will
01:58 loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved
02:02 gates; and the gates shall not be shut; I will go before thee,
02:07 and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces
02:12 the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: and I
02:17 will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of
02:21 secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which
02:26 call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. For Jacob my
02:31 servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee
02:35 by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known
02:40 me. I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God
02:45 beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: that
02:50 they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west
02:54 that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none
02:59 else. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace,
03:05 and create evil: I the Lord do all these things. Drop down, ye
03:09 heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness:
03:13 let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let
03:17 righteousness spring up together; I the Lord have
03:22 created it. Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the
03:29 potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth.
03:32 Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou?
03:37 or thy work, He hath no hands? Woe unto him that saith unto his
03:41 father, What begettest thou? or to the woman, What hast thou
03:46 brought forth? Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel,
03:50 and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and
03:55 concerning the work of my hands command ye me. I have made the
04:00 earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched
04:04 out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded. I have
04:08 raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways:
04:13 he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not
04:17 for price nor reward, saith the Lord of hosts. Thus saith the
04:22 Lord, the labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of
04:26 the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee and
04:30 they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they
04:33 shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall
04:37 make supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee;
04:40 and there is none else, there is no God. Verily thou art a God
04:44 that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour. They shall
04:48 be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to
04:53 confusion together that are makers of idols. But Israel
04:57 shall be saved in the Lord with an everlasting salvation: ye
05:02 shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.
05:06 For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens;
05:10 God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath
05:14 established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be
05:20 inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else. I have not
05:25 spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not
05:30 unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the Lord speak
05:35 righteousness, I declare things that are right.
05:38 Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are
05:43 escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set
05:46 up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god
05:49 that cannot save. Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them
05:54 take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time?
05:58 who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there
06:03 is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none
06:08 beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the
06:13 earth: for I am God, and there is none else. I have sworn by
06:18 myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and
06:22 shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every
06:27 tongue shall swear. Surely, shall one say, in the Lord have
06:32 I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and
06:37 all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed. In the
06:41 Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified and shall
06:46 glory. Continuing with Isaiah chapter
06:49 46 and this is the King James Version.
06:52 Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth, their idols were upon the beasts
07:00 and upon the cattle: your carriages were heavy loaden;
07:04 they are a burden to the weary beast. They stoop, they bow down
07:08 together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves are
07:12 gone into captivity. Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and
07:16 all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me
07:20 from the belly, which are carried from the womb: and even
07:24 to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry
07:30 you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and
07:35 will deliver you. To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal,
07:40 and compare me, that we may be like? They lavish gold out of
07:44 the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith;
07:49 and he maketh it a god: they fall down, yea, they worship.
07:53 They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in
07:56 his place, and he standeth; from his place shall he not
08:00 remove: yea, one shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor
08:05 save him out of his trouble. Remember this, and shew
08:09 yourselves men: bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors.
08:14 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is
08:18 none else; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the
08:22 end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that
08:26 are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will
08:30 do all my pleasure: calling a ravenous bird from the east,
08:34 the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea,
08:38 I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have
08:43 purposed it, I will also do it. Hearken unto me, ye
08:47 stouthearted, that are far from righteousness: I bring near my
08:52 righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall
08:57 not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my
09:03 glory. Continuing with Isaiah chapter
09:05 47 and this is the King James Version.
09:08 Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon,
09:13 sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the
09:17 Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and
09:21 delicate. Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover thy
09:25 locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over
09:29 the rivers. Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame
09:32 shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet
09:36 thee as a man. As for our redeemer, the Lord of hosts is
09:41 his name, the Holy One of Israel. Sit thou silent, and get
09:45 thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt
09:49 no more be called, the lady of kingdoms. I was wroth with my
09:53 people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into
09:57 hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast
10:02 thou very heavily laid thy yoke. And thou saidst, I shall be a
10:06 lady for ever: so that thou didst not lay these things to
10:09 thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it.
10:13 Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures,
10:17 that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and
10:21 none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither
10:25 shall I know the loss of children: but these two things
10:29 shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children
10:33 and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection
10:38 for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great
10:40 abundance of thine enchantments. For thou hast trusted in thy
10:45 wickedness: thou has said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy
10:49 knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in
10:52 thine heart, I am, and none else beside me. Therefore shall evil
10:57 come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and
11:01 mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put
11:05 it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which
11:09 thou shalt not know. Stand now with thine enchantments, and
11:12 with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast
11:15 laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit,
11:20 if so be thou mayest prevail. Thou are wearied in the
11:24 multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the
11:28 stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and
11:32 save thee from these things that shall come upon thee. Behold,
11:36 they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall
11:39 not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall
11:43 not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.
11:47 Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured,
11:52 even thy merchants, from thy youth: they shall wander every
11:56 one to his quarter; none shall save thee.
12:01 Continuing now with Isaiah chapter 48.
12:06 This is the King James Version.
12:08 Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of
12:12 Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which
12:15 swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of
12:20 Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness. For they call
12:24 themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of
12:28 Israel; the Lord of hosts is his name. I have declared the former
12:31 things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth,
12:35 and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.
12:40 Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an
12:44 iron sinew, and thy brow brass; I have even from the beginning
12:48 declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee:
12:52 lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my
12:55 graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.
12:59 Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it?
13:03 I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden
13:06 things, and thou didst not know them. They are created now, and
13:11 not from the beginning; even before the day when thou
13:14 heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew
13:19 them. Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from
13:23 that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou
13:27 wouldest deal very treacherously and wast called a transgressor
13:31 from the womb. For my name's sake will I defer mine anger,
13:36 and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not
13:41 off. Behold, I have refined thee but not with silver; I have
13:46 chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. For mine own sake
13:51 will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not
13:58 give my glory unto another. Hearken unto me, O Jacob and
14:04 Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also and the
14:10 last. Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and
14:14 my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them,
14:19 they stand up together. All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear;
14:23 which among them hath declared these things? The Lord hath
14:27 loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his
14:31 arm shall be on the Chaldeans. I, even I, have spoken; yea, I
14:37 have called him: I have brought him, and he shall
14:40 make his way prosperous.
