00:16 Hello, and welcome to "His Words Are Life."
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and today we're going to begin
00:21 reading together in the Book of Isaiah.
00:23 Well, let's pray before we start.
00:25 Dear, Heavenly Father, thank you for this opportunity
00:28 to sit in Your presence and focus our hearts
00:32 on Your word to us, which is light and life.
00:35 Please, send the Holy Spirit to open our ears
00:38 to hear You speaking to each of us personally.
00:41 We love You so much, thank you for loving us, amen.
00:46 We're reading in the Book of Isaiah
00:48 in Chapter 65, starting with verse 12.
00:52 And God through the prophet
00:54 speaking to those who have forsaken Him.
00:58 Therefore will I number you to the sword,
01:02 and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter.
01:05 Because when I called, ye did not answer,
01:09 when I speak, ye did not hear,
01:12 but did evil before mine eyes,
01:15 and did choose that wherein I delighted not.
01:19 Therefore thus saith the Lord God,
01:21 Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry.
01:25 Behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty.
01:30 Behold, my servants shall rejoice,
01:32 but ye shall be ashamed.
01:35 Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart,
01:38 but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart,
01:41 and shall howl for vexation of spirit.
01:45 And ye shall leave your name for a curse
01:46 unto my chosen for the Lord God shall slay thee,
01:49 and call his servants by another name.
01:52 That he who blesseth himself in the earth
01:54 shall bless himself in the God of truth,
01:57 and he that sweareth in the earth
01:59 shall swear by the God of truth,
02:01 because the former troubles are forgotten,
02:04 and because they are hid from mine eyes.
02:07 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth
02:11 and the former shall not be remembered,
02:14 nor come into mind.
02:16 But be ye glad and rejoice for ever
02:19 in that which I create for, behold, I create Jerusalem
02:24 a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
02:28 And I will rejoice in Jerusalem,
02:29 and joy in my people and the voice of weeping
02:32 shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
02:37 There shall be no more thence an infant of days,
02:39 nor an old man that hath not filled his days for the child
02:43 shall die an hundred years old,
02:44 but the sinner being an hundred years old
02:46 shall be accursed.
02:48 And they shall build houses, and inhabit them,
02:51 and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
02:54 They shall not build, and another inhabit,
02:57 they shall not plant, and another eat
02:59 for as the days of a tree are the days of my people,
03:03 and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
03:07 They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble,
03:11 for they are the seed of the blessed of the Lord,
03:13 and their offspring with them.
03:16 And it shall come to pass, that before they call,
03:19 I will answer, and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
03:23 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together,
03:26 and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock
03:29 and dust shall be the serpent's meat.
03:32 They shall not hurt nor destroy
03:35 in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord.
03:38 And continuing with Isaiah Chapter 66,
03:41 and this is the King James Version.
03:44 Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne,
03:48 and the earth is my footstool
03:50 where is the house that ye build unto me?
03:52 And where is the place of my rest?
03:55 For all those things hath mine hand made,
03:57 and all those things have been,
03:59 saith the Lord but to this man will I look,
04:02 even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit,
04:06 and trembleth at my word.
04:08 He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man,
04:13 he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck,
04:18 he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood,
04:23 he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol.
04:27 Yea, they have chosen their own ways,
04:30 and their soul delighteth in their abominations.
04:34 I also will choose their delusions,
04:37 and will bring their fears upon them,
04:39 because when I called, none did answer,
04:43 when I speak, He did not hear
04:46 but they did evil before mine eyes,
04:48 and chose that in which I delighted not.
04:53 Hear the word of the Lord, ye that tremble at his word,
04:57 your brethren that hated you,
04:59 that cast you out for my name's sake, said.
05:02 Let the Lord be glorified but he shall appear to your joy,
05:07 and they shall be ashamed.
05:09 A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple,
05:12 a voice of the Lord that rendereth
05:15 recompense to his enemies.
05:17 Before she travailed, she brought forth,
05:20 before her pain came,
05:21 she was delivered of a man child.
05:23 Who hath heard such a thing?
05:25 Who hath seen such things?
05:27 Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day?
05:30 Or shall a nation be born at once?
05:33 For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
05:37 Shall I bring to the birth,
05:38 and not cause to bring forth, saith the Lord?
05:41 Shall I cause to bring forth,
05:43 and shut the womb, saith thy God?
05:46 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her,
05:49 all ye that love her rejoice for joy with her,
05:53 all ye that mourn for her.
05:55 That ye may suck, and be satisfied
05:57 with the breasts of her consolations,
06:00 that ye may milk out,
06:01 and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.
06:05 For thus saith the Lord,
06:06 Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river,
06:11 and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream
06:16 then shall ye suck,
06:18 ye shall be borne upon her sides,
06:20 and be dandled upon her knees.
06:22 As one whom his mother comforteth,
06:24 so will I comfort you,
06:27 and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
06:30 And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice,
06:33 and your bones shall flourish like an herb
06:36 and the hand of the Lord shall be known
06:38 toward his servants,
06:39 and his indignation toward his enemies.
06:43 For behold, the Lord will come with fire,
06:45 with his chariots like a whirlwind,
06:48 to render his anger with fury,
06:50 and his rebuke with flames of fire.
06:53 For by fire and by his sword
06:55 will the Lord plead with all flesh,
06:57 and the slain of the Lord shall be many.
07:01 They that sanctify themselves,
07:03 and purify themselves in the gardens
07:06 behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh,
07:09 and the abomination, and the mouse,
07:12 shall be consumed together, saith the Lord.
07:14 For I know their works and their thoughts, it shall come,
07:18 that I will gather all nations and tongues,
07:20 and they shall come, and see my glory.
07:23 And I will set a sign among them,
07:25 and I will send those that escape of them
07:27 unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud,
07:32 that draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan,
07:35 to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame,
07:38 neither have seen my glory,
07:40 and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.
07:44 And they shall bring all your brethren
07:45 for an offering unto the Lord out of all nations upon horses,
07:49 and in chariots, and in litters,
07:51 and upon mules, and upon swift beasts,
07:54 to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the Lord,
07:57 as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel
08:00 into the house of the Lord.
08:02 And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites,
08:06 saith the Lord.
08:07 For as the new heavens and the new earth,
08:09 which I will make, shall remain before me,
08:12 saith the Lord,
08:13 so shall your seed and your name remain.
08:18 And it shall come to pass,
08:19 that from one new moon to another,
08:21 and from one Sabbath to another,
08:24 shall all flesh come to worship before me,
08:27 saith the Lord.
08:29 And they shall go forth,
08:30 and look upon the carcasses of the men
08:32 that have transgressed against me.
08:34 For their worm shall not die,
08:36 neither shall their fire be quenched.
08:38 And they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
08:44 Continuing now to read in the Book of Jeremiah Chapter 1
08:48 and this is the King James Version.
08:52 The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah,
08:55 of the priests that were in Anathoth
08:58 in the land of Benjamin.
09:00 To whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah
09:03 the son of Amon, king of Judah,
09:05 in the thirteenth year of his reign.
09:08 It came also in the days of Jehoiakim.
09:10 The son of Josiah, king of Judah,
09:13 unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah,
09:16 the son of Josiah king of Judah,
09:18 unto the carrying away of Jerusalem
09:21 captive in the fifth month.
09:23 Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
09:27 "Before I formed thee in the belly
09:30 I knew thee and before thou camest forth out of the womb
09:33 I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee
09:35 a prophet unto the nations."
09:38 Then said I, Ah, Lord God!
09:42 Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a child.
09:45 But the Lord said unto me,
09:47 Say not, I am a child for thou shalt go to all
09:52 that I shall send thee, and whatsoever
09:54 I command thee thou shalt speak.
09:57 Be not afraid of their faces,
09:59 for I am with thee to deliver thee,
10:02 saith the Lord.
10:04 Then the Lord put forth his hand,
10:06 and touched my mouth.
10:07 And the Lord said unto me,
10:09 Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
10:13 See, I have this day set thee
10:15 over the nations and over the kingdoms,
10:17 to root out, and to pull down,
10:19 and to destroy, and to throw down,
10:21 to build, and to plant.
10:24 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
10:27 Jeremiah, what seest thou?
10:30 And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.
10:35 Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen,
10:38 for I will hasten my word to perform it.
10:42 And the word of the Lord came unto me the second time, saying,
10:45 what seest thou?
10:47 And I said, I see a seething pot,
10:50 and the face thereof is toward the north.
10:53 Then the Lord said unto me,
10:54 Out of the north an evil shall break forth
10:57 upon all the inhabitants of the land.
10:59 For, lo, I will call ll the families
11:01 of the kingdoms of the north,
11:02 saith the Lord, and they shall come,
11:03 and they shall set every one his throne
11:05 at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem,
11:07 and against all the walls thereof round about,
11:09 and against all the cities of Judah.
11:12 And I will utter my judgments against them
11:14 touching all their wickedness,
11:16 who have forsaken me,
11:17 and have burned incense unto other Gods,
11:20 and worshipped the works of their own hands.
11:23 Thou therefore gird up thy loins,
11:26 and arise, and speak unto them
11:27 all that I command thee be not dismayed at their faces,
11:32 lest I confound thee before them.
11:34 For, behold, I have made thee this day a defensed city,
11:39 and an iron pillar, and brazen walls
11:42 against the whole land, against the kings of Judah,
11:45 against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof,
11:48 and against the people of the land.
11:51 And they shall fight against thee,
11:52 but they shall not prevail against thee,
11:55 for I am with thee, saith the Lord,
11:58 to deliver thee.
12:00 Continuing in the Book of Jeremiah Chapter 2,
12:03 this is the King James Version.
12:06 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying.
12:10 Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying,
12:13 Thus saith the Lord, I remember thee,
12:15 the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals,
12:19 when thou wentest after me in the wilderness,
12:21 in a land that was not sown.
12:23 Israel was holiness unto the Lord,
12:25 and the first fruits of his increase
12:27 all that devour him shall offend,
12:30 evil shall come upon them, saith the Lord.
12:33 Hear ye the word of the Lord,O house of Jacob,
12:36 and all the families of the house of Israel.
12:39 Thus saith the Lord.
12:41 What iniquity have your fathers found in me,
12:44 that they are gone far from me,
12:45 and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?
12:49 Neither said they, Where is the Lord
12:51 that brought us up out of the land of Egypt,
12:52 that led us through the wilderness,
12:54 through a land of deserts and of pits,
12:56 through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death,
12:59 through a land that no man passed through,
13:01 and where no man dwelt?
13:02 And I brought you into a plentiful country,
13:05 to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof,
13:07 but when ye entered, ye defiled my land,
13:11 and made mine heritage an abomination.
13:15 The priests said not, where are the Lord?
13:18 And they that handle the law knew me
13:21 not the pastors also transgressed against me,
13:25 and the prophets prophesied by Baal,
13:27 and walked after things that do not profit.
13:30 Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the Lord,
13:33 and with your children's children will I plead.
13:36 For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see,
13:39 and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently,
13:42 and see if there be such a thing.
13:44 Hath a nation changed their Gods,
13:47 which are yet no Gods?
13:49 But my people have changed their glory
13:51 for that which doth not profit.
13:54 Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this,
13:56 and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the lord
14:01 For my people have committed two evils,
14:03 they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters,
14:07 and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns,
14:11 that can hold no water. Is Israel a servant?
14:15 Is he a home born slave?
14:17 Why is he spoiled?
14:20 The young lions roared upon him,and yelled,
14:23 and they made his land waste
14:24 his cities are burned without inhabitant.
14:28 Also the children of Noph and Tahapane
14:31 have broken the crown of thine head.
14:33 Hast thou not procured this unto thyself,
14:37 in that thou hast forsaken the Lord thy God,
14:39 when he led thee by the way?
