00:15 Hello and welcome to "His Words are Life."
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer and today we are going to be reading
00:20 from the book of Jeremiah.
00:22 But first let's pray together.
00:24 Dear Heavenly Father, thank you so much
00:27 for your blessings in our lives,
00:29 too many blessings to even list.
00:32 And one of the greatest blessings
00:34 is your truth revealed here in your word.
00:37 And the time that we have right now to read it together.
00:40 Please with us.
00:41 Please send the Holy Spirit so that these words
00:43 will be planted deep in our heart
00:45 to be a fruit to your glory.
00:46 We love you so much
00:47 and thank you for loving us, amen.
00:50 Reading from the book of Jeremiah
00:52 Chapter 25, beginning with verse 30
00:56 and this is the King James Version.
01:00 "Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words,
01:04 and say unto them, the Lord shall roar from on high,
01:08 and utter his voice from his holy habitation,
01:12 he shall mightily roar upon his habitation,
01:15 he shall give a shout,
01:16 as they that tread the grapes,
01:18 against all the inhabitants of the earth.
01:21 A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth,
01:24 for the Lord hath a controversy
01:26 with the nations, he will plead with all flesh,
01:28 he will give them that are wicked to the sword,
01:31 saith the Lord.
01:33 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold,
01:36 evil shall go forth from nation to nation,
01:38 and a great whirlwind shall be raised up
01:40 from the coasts of the earth.
01:42 And the slain of the Lord shall be at that day
01:45 from one end of the earth
01:46 even unto the other end of the earth,
01:48 they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried,
01:52 they shall be dung upon the ground.
01:55 Howl, ye shepherds, and cry,
01:57 and wallow yourselves in the ashes,
01:59 ye principal of the flock, for the days of your slaughter
02:03 and of your dispersions are accomplished,
02:06 and ye shall fall like a pleasant vessel.
02:09 And the shepherds shall have no way to flee,
02:12 nor the principal of the flock to escape.
02:15 A voice of the cry of the shepherds,
02:17 and an howling of the principal of the flock,
02:18 shall be heard, for the Lord hath spoiled their pasture.
02:23 And the peaceable habitations are cut down
02:25 because of the fierce anger of the Lord.
02:28 He hath forsaken his covert, as the lion,
02:31 for their land is desolate
02:32 because of the fierceness of the oppressor,
02:35 and because of his fierce anger."
02:38 Continuing in Jeremiah Chapter 26
02:41 and this is the King James Version.
02:44 "In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim
02:46 the son of Josiah king of Judah
02:49 came this word from the Lord, saying,
02:52 Thus saith the Lord,
02:53 Stand in the court of the Lord's house,
02:56 and speak unto all the cities of Judah,
02:59 which come to worship in the Lord's house,
03:01 all the words that I command thee to speak unto them,
03:05 diminish not a word if so be they will hearken,
03:09 and turn every man from his evil way,
03:12 that I may repent me of the evil,
03:15 which I purpose to do unto them
03:16 because of the evil of their doings.
03:19 And thou shalt say unto them, thus saith the Lord,
03:22 If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law,
03:25 which I have set before you,
03:27 to hearken to the words of my servants the prophets,
03:31 whom I sent unto you, both rising up early,
03:34 and sending them, but ye have not hearkened,
03:37 then will I make this house like Shiloh,
03:41 and will make this city a curse
03:43 to all the nations of the earth.
03:45 So the priests and the prophets
03:47 and all the people heard Jeremiah
03:50 speaking these words in the house of the Lord.
03:54 Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made
03:56 an end of speaking all that the Lord had commanded him
03:59 to speak unto all the people,
04:02 that the priests and the prophets
04:04 and all the people took him, saying thou shalt surely die.
04:09 Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the Lord,
04:11 saying, this house shall be like Shiloh,
04:13 and this city shall be desolate
04:15 without an inhabitant?
04:17 And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah
04:21 in the house of the Lord.
04:23 When the princes of Judah heard these things,
04:25 then they came up from the king's house
04:27 unto the house of the Lord, and sat down in the entry
04:29 of the new gate of the Lord's house.
04:32 Then spake the priests and the prophets
04:35 unto the princes and to all the people, saying,
04:37 this man is worthy to die,
04:40 for he hath prophesied against this city,
04:43 as ye have heard with your ears.
04:47 Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes
04:49 and to all the people saying, the Lord sent me
04:52 to prophesy against this house
04:54 and against this city all the words that ye have heard.
04:58 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings,
05:02 and obey the voice of the Lord your God,
05:04 and the Lord will repent him of the evil
05:06 that he hath pronounced against you.
05:08 As for me, behold, I am in your hand,
05:13 do with me as seemeth good and meet unto you.
05:17 But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death,
05:22 ye shall surely bring innocent blood
05:24 upon yourselves, and upon this city,
05:27 and upon the inhabitants thereof,
05:29 for of a truth the Lord hath sent me unto you
05:33 to speak all these words in your ears.
05:38 Then said the princes and all the people
05:40 unto the priests and to the prophets
05:43 this man is not worthy to die,
05:45 for he hath spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.
05:49 Then rose up certain of the elders of the land,
05:52 and spake to all the assembly of the people, saying,
05:56 Micah the Morasthite prophesied
05:59 in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah,
06:01 and spake to all the people of Judah, saying,
06:03 thus saith the Lord of hosts,
06:04 Zion shall be plowed like a field,
06:06 and Jerusalem shall become heaps,
06:08 and the mountain of the house
06:09 as the high places of a forest.
06:12 Did Hezekiah king of Judah
06:13 and all Judah put him at all to death?
06:16 Did he not fear the Lord, and besought the Lord,
06:18 and the Lord repented him of the evil
06:20 which he had pronounced against them?
06:22 Thus might we procure great evil against our souls.
06:27 And there was also a man that prophesied
06:28 in the name of the Lord,
06:30 Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjathjearim,
06:33 who prophesied against this city and against this land
06:36 according to all the words of Jeremiah
06:38 and when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men,
06:41 and all the princes, heard his words,
06:44 the king sought to put him to death,
06:46 but when Urijah heard it, he was afraid, and fled,
06:50 and went into Egypt,
06:52 And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt,
06:55 namely, Elnathan the son of Achbor,
06:59 and certain men with him into Egypt.
07:01 And they fetched forth Urijah out of Egypt,
07:03 and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king,
07:05 who slew him with the sword,
07:06 and cast his dead bodY
07:07 into the graves of the common people.
07:10 Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam
07:13 the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah,
07:15 that they should not give him
07:17 into the hand of the people to put him to death."
07:21 Continuing with Jeremiah Chapter 27
07:23 and this is the King James Version.
07:27 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim
07:29 the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word
07:33 unto Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
07:36 thus saith the Lord to me, Make thee bonds
07:40 and yokes, and put them upon thy neck,
07:44 and send them to the king of Edom,
07:45 and to the king of Moab,
07:47 and to the king of the Ammonites,
07:48 and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon,
07:50 by the hand of the messengers which come to Jerusalem
07:53 unto Zedekiah king of Judah,
07:55 And command them to say unto their masters,
07:57 thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel,
08:00 Thus shall ye say unto your masters,
08:04 I have made the earth, the man and the beast
08:07 that are upon the ground, by my great power
08:10 and by my outstretched arm, and have given it
08:13 unto whom it seemed meet unto me.
08:17 And now have I given all these lands into the hand
08:21 of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon,
08:23 my servant, and the beasts of the field
08:26 have I given him also to serve him.
08:28 And all nations shall serve him,
08:30 and his son, and his son's son,
08:33 until the very time of his land come:
08:37 and then many nations
08:38 and great kings shall serve themselves of him.
08:42 And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom
08:45 which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar
08:48 the king of Babylon, and that will not put
08:50 their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon,
08:53 that nation will I punish, saith the Lord,
08:56 with the sword, and with the famine,
08:58 and with the pestilence,
09:00 until I have consumed them by his hand.
09:04 Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets,
09:08 nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers,
09:11 nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers,
09:15 which speak unto you, saying, ye shall not serve
09:17 the king of Babylon for they prophesy a lie unto you,
09:23 to remove you far from your land,
09:26 and that I should drive you out,
09:27 and ye should perish.
09:29 But the nations that bring their neck
09:32 under the yoke of the king of Babylon,
09:34 and serve him, those will I let remain
09:38 still in their own land, saith the Lord,
09:41 and they shall till it, and dwell therein.
09:45 I spake also to Zedekiah king of Judah
09:48 according to all these words, saying,
09:51 bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon,
09:54 and serve him and his people, and live.
09:58 Why will ye die, thou and thy people,
10:00 by the sword, by the famine,
10:02 and by the pestilence, as the Lord hath spoken aganist
10:05 the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?
10:08 Therefore hearken not unto the words
10:10 of the prophets that speak unto you, saying,
10:12 ye shall not serve the king of Babylon:
10:14 for they prophesy a lie unto you.
10:17 For I have not sent them, saith the Lord,
10:19 yet they prophesy a lie in my name,
10:22 that I might drive you out, and that ye might perish, ye,
10:25 and the prophets that prophesy unto you.
10:28 Also I spake to the priests
10:29 and to all this people, saying, thus saith the Lord,
10:32 Hearken not to the words of your prophets
10:35 that prophesy unto you, saying,
10:36 behold, the vessels of the Lord's house
10:38 shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon,
10:41 for they prophesy a lie unto you.
10:44 Hearken not unto them, serve the king of Babylon,
10:47 and live, wherefore should this city be laid waste?
10:52 But if they be prophets,
10:54 and if the word of the Lord be with them,
10:56 let them now make intercession
10:58 to the Lord of hosts, that the vessels
11:00 which are left in the house of the Lord,
11:02 and in the house of the king of Judah,
11:04 and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.
11:07 For thus saith the Lord of hosts concerning the pillars
11:09 and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases,
11:12 and concerning the residue of the vessels
11:14 that remain in this city, which Nebuchadnezzar
11:17 king of Babylon took not,
11:18 when he carried away captive Jeconiah
11:21 the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah
11:23 from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles
11:25 of Judah and Jerusalem,
11:27 Yea, thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel,
11:30 concerning the vessels that remain
11:32 in the house of the Lord,
11:33 and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem,
11:37 They shall be carried to Babylon,
11:39 and there shall they be until the day that I visit them,
11:43 saith the Lord, then will I bring them up,
11:46 and restore them to this place."
11:50 Continuing in the book of Jeremiah Chapter 28
11:53 and this is the King James Version.
11:57 "And it came to pass the same year,
11:59 in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah,
12:02 in the fourth year, and in the fifth month,
12:04 that Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet,
12:07 which was of Gibeon, spake unto me
12:10 in the house of the Lord, in the presence
12:12 of the priests and of all the people, saying,
12:14 thus speaketh the Lord of hosts,
12:16 the God of Israel, saying,
12:18 I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
12:21 Within two full years will I bring again
12:25 into this place all the vessels
12:26 of the Lord's house, that Nebuchadnezzar
12:29 king of Babylon took away from this place,
12:31 and carried them to Babylon.
12:33 And I will bring again to this place Jeconiah
12:36 the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah,
12:38 with all the captives of Judah,
12:39 that went into Babylon, saith the Lord,
12:41 for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.
12:46 Then the prophet Jeremiah said
12:49 unto the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests,
12:52 and in the presence of all the people
12:54 that stood in the house of the Lord,
12:56 even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen,
13:00 the Lord do so, the Lord perform thy words
13:03 which thou hast prophesied, to bring again the vessels
13:06 of the Lord's house,
13:07 and all that is carried away captive,
13:09 from Babylon into this place.
13:12 Nevertheless hear thou now this word
13:15 that I speak in thine ears,
13:16 and in the ears of all the people,
13:19 The prophets that have been before me
13:21 and before thee of old prophesied both
13:25 against many countries, and against great kingdoms,
13:28 of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.
13:32 The prophet which prophesieth of peace,
13:35 when the word of the prophet shall come to pass,
13:37 then shall the prophet be known,
13:40 that the Lord hath truly sent him.
13:43 Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke
13:45 from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck and brake it.
13:49 And Hananiah spake in the presence
13:50 of all the people, saying, thus saith the Lord,
13:53 Even so will I break the yoke
13:55 of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon
13:57 from the neck of all nations
13:59 within the space of two full years.
14:02 And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.
14:06 Then the word of the Lord came
14:08 unto Jeremiah the prophet, after that Hananiah
14:11 the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck
14:13 of the prophet Jeremiah, saying, go and tell
14:17 Hananiah saying, thus saith the Lord,
14:20 Thou hast broken the yokes of wood,
14:23 but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron.
14:26 For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel,
14:29 I have put a yoke of iron
14:30 upon the neck of all these nations,
14:33 that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon
14:36 and they shall serve him,
14:38 and I have given him the beasts of the field also".
