00:15 Hello and welcome to "His Words are Life."
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer and today 00:19 we are going to be reading together 00:21 in the Book of Ezekiel. 00:22 But let's pray before we start. 00:24 Dear Heavenly Father, 00:25 thank you for Your love to us. 00:28 Thank you for redeeming us 00:31 and thank you for being with us 00:32 as we walk on our road to heaven. 00:36 Please be with us now as we read these words 00:38 and show us what you have for us to learn. 00:40 We love You so much and thank you for loving us, amen. 00:44 We're beginning the Book of Ezekiel today, 00:46 Ezekiel Chapter 1 verse 1. 00:48 This is the King James Version. 00:51 "Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, 00:54 in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, 00:58 as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, 01:02 that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. 01:06 In the fifth day of the month, 01:08 which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity. 01:12 The word of the Lord came expressly 01:14 unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, 01:18 in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar, 01:21 and the hand of the Lord was there upon him. 01:25 And I looked, and, behold, 01:27 a whirlwind came out of the north, 01:29 a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, 01:33 and a brightness was about it, 01:35 and out of the midst thereof as the color of amber, 01:38 out of the midst of the fire. 01:40 Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness 01:44 of four living creatures. 01:46 And this was their appearance, 01:48 they had the likeness of a man. 01:50 And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings. 01:56 And their feet were straight feet, 01:58 and the sole of their feet 01:59 was like the sole of a calf's foot, 02:01 and they sparkled like the color of burnished brass. 02:06 And they had the hands of a man 02:07 under their wings on their four sides, 02:10 and they four had their faces and their wings. 02:13 Their wings were joined one to another, 02:16 they turned not when they went. 02:18 They went every one straight forward. 02:22 As for the likeness of their faces, 02:24 they four had the face of a man, 02:27 and the face of a lion, on the right side. 02:30 And they four had the face of an ox on the left side. 02:33 They four also had the face of an eagle. 02:37 Thus were their faces, 02:38 and their wings were stretched upward, 02:40 two wings of every one were joined one to another, 02:44 and two covered their bodies. 02:47 And they went every one straight forward, 02:49 whither the spirit was to go, they went, 02:52 and they turned not when they went. 02:55 As for the likeness of the living creatures, 02:57 their appearance was like burning coals of fire, 03:00 and like the appearance of lamps, 03:02 it went up and down among the living creatures, 03:05 and the fire was bright, 03:06 and out of the fire went forth lightning. 03:09 And the living creatures ran and returned 03:12 as the appearance of a flash of lightning. 03:15 Now as I beheld the living creatures, 03:18 behold one wheel upon the earth 03:21 by the living creatures, with his four faces. 03:24 The appearance of the wheels and their work 03:27 was like unto the color of a beryl. 03:29 And they four had one likeness, 03:32 and their appearance and their work 03:34 was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel. 03:39 When they went, they went upon their four sides. 03:43 And they turned not when they went. 03:46 As for their rings, they were so high 03:48 that they were dreadful, 03:50 and their rings were full of eyes round about them four. 03:55 And when the living creatures went, 03:57 and the wheels went by them. 03:59 And when the living creatures 04:00 were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up. 04:04 Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, 04:09 thither was their spirit to go. 04:10 And the wheels were lifted up over against them. 04:13 For the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels. 04:18 When those went, these went, 04:20 and when those stood, these stood, 04:23 and when those were lifted up from the earth, 04:25 the wheels were lifted up over against them, 04:27 for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels. 04:31 And the likeness of the firmament 04:33 upon the heads of the living creature 04:34 was as the color of the terrible crystal, 04:37 stretched forth over their heads above. 04:40 And under the firmament were their wings straight, 04:43 the one toward the other. 04:45 Every one had two, which covered on this side, 04:48 and every one had two, which covered 04:49 on that side, their bodies. 04:52 And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, 04:55 like the noise of great waters, 04:56 as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, 04:59 as the noise of an host. 05:02 When they stood, they let down their wings. 05:06 And there was a voice from the firmament 05:07 that was over their heads, 05:09 when they stood, and had let down their wings. 05:12 And above the firmament that was over their heads 05:14 was the likeness of a throne, 05:16 as the appearance of a sapphire stone. 05:19 And upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness 05:23 as the appearance of a man above upon it. 05:27 And I saw as the color of amber, 05:30 as the appearance of fire round about within it, 05:33 from the appearance of his loins even upward, 05:36 and from the appearance of his loins even downward, 05:38 I saw as it were the appearance of fire, 05:42 and it had brightness round about. 05:45 As the appearance of the bow 05:47 that is in the cloud in the day of rain, 05:49 so was the appearance of the brightness round about. 05:52 This was the appearance of the likeness 05:55 of the glory of the Lord. 05:58 And when I saw it I fell upon my face, 06:01 and I heard a voice of one that spake." 06:05 Continuing now in Ezekiel Chapter 2, verse 1 06:09 and this is the King James Version. 06:13 "And he said unto me, Son of man, 06:15 stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. 06:19 And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, 06:22 and set me upon my feet, 06:24 that I heard him that spake unto me. 06:28 And he said unto me, Son of man, 06:30 I send thee to the children of Israel, 06:33 to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me. 06:36 They and their fathers have transgressed against me, 06:40 even unto this very day. 06:42 For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. 06:46 I do send thee unto them, 06:48 and thou shalt say unto them, thus saith the Lord God. 06:53 And they, whether they will hear, 06:56 or whether they will forbear, 06:58 for they are a rebellious house, 07:01 yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them. 07:06 And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, 07:09 neither be afraid of their words, 07:12 though briers and thorns be with thee, 07:14 and thou dost dwell among scorpions. 07:17 Be not afraid of their words, 07:19 nor be dismayed at their looks, 07:21 though they be a rebellious house. 07:25 And thou shalt speak my words unto them, 07:28 whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, 07:31 for they are most rebellious. 07:34 But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee. 07:38 Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house. 07:43 Open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee. 07:48 And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me, 07:52 and, lo, a roll of a book was therein. 07:56 And he spread it before me, 07:58 and it was written within and without. 08:02 And there was written therein lamentations, 08:06 and mourning, and woe." 08:10 Continuing in Ezekiel Chapter 3 08:12 and this is the King James Version. 08:16 "Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, 08:19 eat that thou findest, eat this roll, 08:23 and go speak unto the house of Israel. 08:26 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. 08:31 And he said unto me, Son of man, 08:32 cause thy belly to eat, 08:34 and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. 08:38 Then did I eat it, 08:40 and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. 08:44 And he said unto me, Son of man, 08:47 go, get thee unto the house of Israel, 08:49 and speak with my words unto them. 08:53 For thou art not sent to a people 08:54 of a strange speech and of an hard language, 08:58 but to the house of Israel. 08:59 Not to many people of a strange speech 09:02 and of an hard language, 09:03 whose words thou canst not understand. 09:06 Surely, had I sent thee to them, 09:08 they would have hearkened unto thee. 09:10 But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee 09:13 for they will not hearken unto me. 09:16 For all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted. 09:20 Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, 09:25 and thy forehead strong against their foreheads. 09:28 As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead, 09:33 fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, 09:38 though they be a rebellious house. 09:42 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, 09:45 all my words that I shall speak unto thee 09:48 receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears. 09:52 And go, get thee to them of the captivity, 09:57 unto the children of thy people, 09:58 and speak unto them, and tell them, 09:59 Thus saith the Lord God, 10:02 whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear. 10:06 Then the spirit took me up, 10:09 and I heard behind me a voice of great rushing, 10:13 saying, Blessed be the glory of the Lord from his place. 10:19 I heard also the noise of the wings 10:21 of the living creatures that touched one another, 10:24 and the noise of the wheels over against them, 10:26 and a noise of a great rushing. 10:29 So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, 10:33 and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit, 10:37 but the hand of the Lord was strong upon me. 10:42 Then I came to them of the captivity at Telabib, 10:46 that dwelt by the river of Chebar, 10:49 and I sat where they sat, 10:52 and remained there astonished among them seven days. 10:58 And it came to pass at the end of seven days, 11:01 that the word of the Lord came unto me, saying. 11:04 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman 11:07 unto the house of Israel. 11:09 Therefore hear the word at my mouth, 11:12 and give them warning from me. 11:15 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die, 11:19 and thou givest him not warning, 11:21 nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, 11:24 to save his life, the same wicked man 11:27 shall die in his iniquity. 11:30 But his blood will I require at thine hand. 11:34 Yet if thou warn the wicked, 11:36 and he turn not from his wickedness, 11:38 nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity, 11:42 but thou hast delivered thy soul. 11:45 Again, when a righteous man doth turn 11:47 from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, 11:50 and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die. 11:54 Because thou hast not given him warning, 11:56 he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness 11:59 which he hath done shall not be remembered, 12:00 but his blood will I require at thine hand. 12:06 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, 12:08 that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, 12:12 he shall surely live, because he is warned, 12:14 also thou hast delivered thy soul. 12:18 And the hand of the Lord was there upon me, 12:20 and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, 12:23 and I will there talk with thee. 12:26 Then I arose, and went forth into the plain, 12:30 and, behold, the glory of the Lord stood there, 12:33 as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar. 12:37 And I fell on my face. 12:40 Then the spirit entered into me, 12:42 and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, 12:46 and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thine house. 12:50 But thou, O son of man, behold, 12:52 they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, 12:56 and thou shalt not go out among them. 12:59 And I will make thy tongue cleave 13:01 to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, 13:03 and shalt not be to them a reprover, 13:06 for they are a rebellious house. 13:09 But when I speak with thee, 13:10 I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, 13:14 Thus saith the Lord God, 13:16 He that heareth, let him hear, 13:20 and he that forbeareth, let him forbear, 13:23 for they are a rebellious house." 13:26 Continuing with Ezekiel Chapter 4 13:28 and this is the King James Version. 13:32 "Thou also, son of man, take thee a tile, 13:36 and lay it before thee, 13:38 and pourtray upon it the city, even Jerusalem. 13:41 And lay siege against it, and build a fort against it, 13:45 and cast a mount against it, set the camp also against it, 13:49 and set battering rams against it round about. 13:53 Moreover take thou unto thee an iron pan, 13:57 and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city. 14:01 And set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, 14:05 and thou shalt lay siege against it. 14:07 This shall be a sign to the house of Israel. 14:10 Lie thou also upon thy left side, 14:13 and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it. 14:17 According to the number of the days 14:19 that thou shalt lie upon it 14:21 thou shalt bear their iniquity. 14:23 For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, 14:25 according to the number of the days, 14:28 three hundred and ninety days. 14:30 So shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel." 14:35 Please join me, again next time 14:37 to continue reading Ezekiel together, goodbye. |
