00:15 Hello and welcome to "His Words Are Life."
00:17 I'm Kelly Mowrer and thank you
00:19 for joining with me today
00:20 to read the word of God together.
00:22 Before we start, let's pray.
00:25 Dear heavenly Father, thank you for an opportunity
00:28 to sit and to read Your words.
00:30 Please send Your Holy Spirit to open our hearts
00:33 to understand and know You more,
00:35 because of what we read today.
00:36 We love You so much
00:37 and thank you for loving us, amen.
00:41 When we were last together, we were reading in Ezekiel
00:44 and the heading in my Bible calls this chapter
00:48 "A call for repentance" The word of the Lord
00:50 is speaking through Ezekiel.
00:52 We are starting in Chapter 14 and verse 17,
00:56 this is the King James Version.
00:58 "Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say,
01:02 Sword, go through the land, so that I cut off man
01:06 and beast from it, Though these three men were in it,
01:09 as I live, saith the Lord God,
01:11 they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters,
01:13 but they only shall be delivered themselves.
01:17 Or if I send a pestilence into that land,
01:19 and pour out my fury upon it in blood,
01:22 to cut off from it man and beast,
01:25 Though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it,
01:29 as I live, saith the Lord God,
01:31 they shall deliver neither son nor daughter,
01:34 they shall but deliver their own souls
01:36 by their righteousness.
01:38 For thus saith the Lord God, How much more
01:42 when I send my four sore judgments
01:45 upon Jerusalem, the sword,
01:48 and the famine, and the noisome beast,
01:50 and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?
01:55 Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant
01:58 that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters,
02:02 behold, they shall come forth unto you,
02:03 and ye shall see their way and their doings,
02:06 and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil
02:09 that I have brought upon Jerusalem,
02:11 even concerning all that I have brought upon it.
02:15 And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways
02:18 and their doings, and ye shall know
02:20 that I have not done without cause
02:23 all that I have done in it, saith the Lord God."
02:27 Continuing with Ezekiel Chapter 15
02:29 and this is the King James Version.
02:33 "And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man,
02:36 what is the vine tree more than any tree,
02:40 or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest?
02:43 Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work?
02:47 Or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?
02:50 Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel,
02:53 the fire devoureth both the ends of it,
02:55 and the midst of it is burned.
02:57 Is it meet for any work?
02:59 Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work,
03:03 how much less shall it be meet yet for any work,
03:06 when the fire hath devoured it, and it is burned?
03:09 Therefore thus saith the Lord God,
03:12 as the vine tree among the trees of the forest,
03:15 which I have given to the fire for fuel,
03:19 so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
03:22 And I will set my face against them,
03:24 they shall go out from one fire,
03:26 and another fire shall devour them,
03:28 and ye shall know that I am the Lord,
03:31 when I set my face against them.
03:34 And I will make the land desolate,
03:36 because they have committed a trespass,
03:38 saith the Lord God."
03:41 Continuing in Ezekiel Chapter 16
03:44 and this is the King James Version.
03:46 "Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
03:48 Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations,
03:53 And say, Thus saith the Lord God unto Jerusalem,
03:57 Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of Canaan,
04:01 thy father was an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite.
04:05 And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born
04:09 thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water
04:13 to supple thee, thou wast not salted at all,
04:16 nor swaddled at all.
04:18 None eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee,
04:22 to have compassion upon thee, but thou wast cast out
04:27 in the open field, to the lothing of thy person,
04:30 in the day that thou wast born.
04:34 And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted
04:38 in thine own blood,
04:40 I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, live,
04:46 yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live.
04:51 I have caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field,
04:55 and thou hast increased and waxen great
04:59 and thou art come to excellent ornaments,
05:02 thy breasts are fashioned, and thine hair is grown,
05:05 whereas thou wast naked and bare.
05:08 Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee,
05:12 behold, thy time was the time of love,
05:16 and I spread my skirt over thee,
05:18 and covered thy nakedness, yea,
05:19 I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee,
05:23 saith the Lord God, and thou becamest mine.
05:28 Then washed I thee with water, yea,
05:30 I throughly washed away thy blood from thee,
05:33 and I anointed thee with oil.
05:36 I clothed thee also with broidered work,
05:39 and shod thee with badgers' skin,
05:41 and I girded thee about with fine linen,
05:44 and I covered thee with silk.
05:46 I decked thee also with ornaments,
05:48 and I put bracelets upon thy hands,
05:50 and a chain on thy neck.
05:52 And I put a jewel on thy forehead,
05:54 and earrings in thine ears,
05:56 and a beautiful crown upon thine head.
06:00 Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver,
06:03 and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk,
06:07 and broidered work, thou didst eat fine flour, and honey,
06:11 and oil, and thou wast exceeding beautiful,
06:14 and thou didst prosper into a kingdom.
06:18 And thy renown went forth among the heathen
06:20 for thy beauty, for it was perfect
06:23 through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee,
06:27 saith the Lord God.
06:30 But thou didst trust in thine own beauty
06:35 and playedst the harlot because of thy renown,
06:38 and pouredst out thy fornications
06:40 on every one that passed by, his it was.
06:43 And of thy garments thou didst take,
06:45 and deckedst thy high places with divers colours,
06:48 and playedst the harlot thereupon,
06:51 the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so.
06:55 Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold
06:59 and of my silver, which I had given thee,
07:02 and madest to thyself images of men,
07:05 and didst commit whoredom with them,
07:07 And tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them,
07:12 and thou hast set mine oil and mine incense before them.
07:15 My meat also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil,
07:18 and honey, wherewith I fed thee,
07:20 thou hast even set it before them for a sweet savour,
07:24 and thus it was, saith the Lord God.
07:27 Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters,
07:32 whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed
07:37 unto them to be devoured.
07:39 Is this of thy whoredoms a small matter,
07:42 that thou hast slain my children,
07:44 and delivered them to cause them
07:46 to pass through the fire for them?
07:49 And in all thine abominations and thy whoredoms
07:52 thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth,
07:55 when thou wast naked and bare,
07:57 and wast polluted in thy blood.
07:59 And it came to pass after all thy wickedness,
08:03 woe, woe unto thee!
08:05 saith the Lord God, that thou hast also built
08:08 unto thee an eminent place,
08:11 and hast made thee an high place in every street.
08:14 Thou hast built thy high place at every head of the way,
08:17 and hast made thy beauty to be abhorred,
08:19 and hast opened thy feet to everyone that passed by,
08:22 and multiplied thy whoredoms.
08:24 Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians
08:28 thy neighbors, great of flesh,
08:31 and hast increased thy whoredoms,
08:32 to provoke me to anger.
08:35 Behold, therefore I have stretched out
08:38 my hand over thee, and have diminished thine ordinary food,
08:42 and delivered thee unto the will of them that hate thee,
08:46 the daughters of the Philistines,
08:48 which are ashamed of thy lewd way.
08:51 Thou hast played the whore also with the Assyrians,
08:54 because thou wast unsatiable,
08:56 yea, thou hast played the harlot with them,
08:57 and yet couldest not be satisfied.
09:01 Thou hast moreover multiplied thy fornication
09:04 in the land of Canaan unto Chaldea,
09:06 and yet thou wast not satisfied therewith.
09:09 How weak is thine heart, saith the Lord God,
09:12 seeing thou doest all these things,
09:15 the work of an imperious whorish woman,
09:19 In that thou buildest thine eminent place
09:21 in the head of every way, and makest thine high place
09:25 in every street, and hast not been as an harlot,
09:29 in that thou scornest hire, But as a wife
09:33 that committeth adultery, which taketh strangers
09:37 instead of her husband!
09:39 They give gifts to all whores, but thou givest thy gifts
09:43 to all thy lovers, and hirest them,
09:45 that they may come unto thee
09:47 on every side for thy whoredom.
09:49 And the contrary is in thee from other women
09:51 in thy whoredoms, whereas none followeth thee
09:53 to commit whoredoms, and in that thou givest
09:56 a reward, and no reward is given unto thee,
10:00 therefore thou art contrary.
10:03 Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of the Lord,
10:05 Thus saith the Lord God, Because thy filthiness
10:10 was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered
10:14 through thy whoredoms with thy lovers,
10:16 and with all the idols of thy abominations,
10:18 and by the blood of thy children,
10:20 which thou didst give unto them,
10:22 Behold, therefore I will gather all thy lovers,
10:26 with whom thou hast taken pleasure,
10:28 and all them that thou hast loved,
10:31 with all them that thou hast hated,
10:33 I will even gather them round about against thee,
10:37 and will discover thy nakedness unto them,
10:39 that they may see all thy nakedness.
10:42 And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock
10:45 and shed blood are judged,
10:47 and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy.
10:51 And I will also give thee into their hand,
10:53 and they shall throw down thine eminent place,
10:57 and shall break down thy high places,
10:59 they shall strip thee also of thy clothes,
11:01 and shall take thy fair jewels,
11:03 and leave thee naked and bare.
11:06 They shall also bring up a company against thee,
11:08 and they shall stone thee with stones,
11:11 and thrust thee through with their swords.
11:15 And they shall burn thine houses with fire,
11:17 and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women,
11:21 and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot,
11:24 and thou also shalt give no hire any more.
11:27 So will I make my fury toward thee to rest,
11:31 and my jealousy shall depart from thee,
11:34 and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry.
11:38 Because thou hast not remembered the days
11:41 of thy youth, but hast fretted me in all these things,
11:45 behold, therefore I also will recompense thy way
11:49 upon thine head, saith the Lord God,
11:52 and thou shalt not commit this lewdness
11:54 above all thine abominations.
11:56 Behold, every one that useth proverbs
11:59 shall use this proverb against thee,
12:01 saying, as is the mother, so is her daughter.
12:06 Thou art thy mother's daughter,
12:08 that lotheth her husband and her children,
12:11 and thou art the sister of thy sisters,
12:14 which lothed their husbands and their children,
12:17 your mother was an Hittite, and your father an Amorite.
12:21 And thine elder sister is Samaria,
12:24 she and her daughters that dwell at thy left hand,
12:27 and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand,
12:30 is Sodom and her daughters.
12:33 Yet hast thou not walked after their ways,
12:35 nor done after their abominations,
12:37 but, as if that were a very little thing,
12:40 thou wast corrupted more than they in all thy ways.
12:44 As I live, saith the Lord God, Sodom thy sister
12:48 hath not done, she nor her daughters,
12:50 as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.
12:54 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride,
12:59 fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness
13:03 was in her and in her daughters,
13:05 neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
13:09 And they were haughty, and committed abomination
13:12 before me, therefore I took them away as I saw good.
13:17 Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins,
13:20 but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they,
13:24 and hast justified thy sisters in all thine abominations
13:29 which thou hast done.
13:31 Thou also, which hast judged thy sisters,
13:34 bear thine own shame for thy sins
13:36 that thou hast committed more abominable than they,
13:39 they are more righteous than thou,
13:42 yea, be thou confounded also, and bear thy shame,
13:45 in that thou hast justified thy sisters.
13:49 When I shall bring again their captivity,
13:52 the captivity of Sodom and her daughters,
13:54 and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters,
13:56 then will I bring again the captivity of thy captives
13:59 in the midst of them, That thou mayest bear thine own shame,
14:04 and mayest be confounded in all that thou hast done,
14:07 in that thou art a comfort unto them.
14:11 When thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters,
14:13 shall return to their former estate,
14:16 and Samaria and her daughters shall return
14:18 to their former estate, then thou and thy daughters
14:22 shall return to your former estate.
14:25 For thy sister Sodom was not mentioned
14:27 by thy mouth in the day of thy pride."
14:30 Thank you for joining with me today to read the word of God
14:34 and please join me again next time.
