00:14 Hello, and welcome back to "His Words Are Life."
00:17 I'm Kelly Mowrer and today we'll be reading together
00:19 from the Book of Zechariah.
00:21 But let's pray before we start.
00:23 Dear Heavenly Father, thank you so much
00:25 for an opportunity to come up hearten
00:28 and sit in Your presence and read Your word.
00:31 Please be with us now as we read together,
00:34 may the Holy Spirit be especially present
00:37 in our hearts to give us the truth
00:39 that You have for each one of us
00:40 in all that we're facing.
00:42 We love You so much and thank you for loving us, amen.
00:46 We're reading in the Book of Zechariah, Chapter 5.
00:50 And Zechariah is just seen a flying roll.
00:54 We're going to pick up the story in verse 3.
00:58 "Then said he unto me, this is the curse
01:01 that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth.
01:04 For every one that stealeth shall be cut off
01:07 as on this side according to it,
01:10 and every one that sweareth shall be cut off
01:13 as on that side according to it.
01:16 I will bring it forth, saith the Lord of hosts,
01:19 and it shall enter into the house of the thief,
01:21 and into the house of him
01:22 that sweareth falsely by my name,
01:25 and it shall remain in the midst of his house,
01:27 and shall consume it with the timber thereof
01:29 and the stones thereof.
01:32 Then the angel that talked with me went forth,
01:35 and said unto me, lift up now thine eyes,
01:38 and see what is this that goeth forth.
01:42 And I said, what is it?
01:45 And he said, this is an ephah that goeth forth.
01:49 He said moreover,
01:51 this is their resemblance through all the earth.
01:54 And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead,
01:58 and this is a woman that sitteth
02:00 in the midst of the ephah.
02:03 And he said, this is wickedness.
02:06 And he cast it into the midst of the ephah,
02:08 and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.
02:13 Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold,
02:17 there came out two women,
02:19 and the wind was in their wings,
02:22 for they had wings like the wings of a stork,
02:25 and they lifted up the ephah
02:27 between the earth and the heaven.
02:30 Then said I to the angel that talked with me,
02:33 Whither do these bear the ephah?
02:35 And he said unto me,
02:37 to build it an house in the land of Shinar,
02:40 and it shall be established,
02:42 and set there upon her own base."
02:46 We're continuing now in the Book of Zechariah,
02:48 Chapter 6 and this is the King James Version.
02:52 "And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes,
02:54 and looked, and, behold,
02:56 there came four chariots out from between two mountains,
02:59 and the mountains were mountains of brass.
03:02 In the first chariot were red horses,
03:04 and in the second chariot black horses.
03:07 And in the third chariot white horses,
03:09 and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses.
03:13 Then I answered and said unto the angel
03:15 that talked with me, what are these, my Lord?
03:18 And the angel answered and said unto me,
03:20 these are the four spirits of the heavens,
03:23 which go forth from standing
03:25 before the Lord of all the earth.
03:28 The black horses which are therein
03:29 go forth into the north country,
03:32 and the white go forth after them,
03:34 and the grisled go forth toward the south country.
03:37 And the bay went forth,
03:38 and sought to go that they might walk to and fro
03:41 through the earth.
03:42 And he said, Get you hence,
03:45 walk to and fro through the earth.
03:47 So they walked to and fro through the earth.
03:52 Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying,
03:56 Behold, these that go toward the north country
03:58 have quieted my spirit in the north country.
04:02 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
04:04 Take of them of the captivity,
04:07 even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah,
04:11 which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day,
04:14 and go into the house of Josiah
04:16 the son of Zephaniah.
04:18 Then take silver and gold, and make crowns,
04:21 and set them upon the head of Joshua
04:23 the son of Josedech, the high priest.
04:26 And speak unto him, saying,
04:28 Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts,
04:29 saying, Behold the man whose name is The Branch,
04:35 and he shall grow up out of his place,
04:37 and he shall build the temple of the Lord.
04:41 Even he shall build the temple of the Lord,
04:43 and he shall bear the glory,
04:44 and shall sit and rule upon his throne,
04:47 and he shall be a priest upon his throne.
04:50 And the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
04:54 And the crowns shall be to Helem,
04:56 and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah,
04:59 and to Hen the son of Zephaniah,
05:01 for a memorial in the temple of the Lord.
05:04 And they that are far off shall come
05:06 and build in the temple of the Lord,
05:09 and ye shall know that the Lord of hosts
05:12 hath sent me unto you.
05:14 And this shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey
05:19 the voice of the Lord your God."
05:22 Continuing in Zechariah, Chapter 7
05:25 and this is the King James Version.
05:27 "And it came to pass
05:29 in the fourth year of king Darius,
05:31 that the word of the Lord came unto Zechariah
05:34 in the fourth day of the ninth month,
05:37 even in Chisleu.
05:38 When they had sent unto the house of God
05:41 Sherezer and Regemmelech, and their men,
05:44 to pray before the Lord.
05:46 And to speak unto the priests
05:47 which were in the house of the Lord of hosts,
05:49 and to the prophets, saying,
05:51 Should I weep in the fifth month,
05:53 separating myself, as I have done these so many years?
05:59 Then came the word of the Lord of hosts unto me,
06:01 saying, speak unto all the people of the land,
06:04 and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted
06:08 and mourned in the fifth and seventh month,
06:11 even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me,
06:16 even to me?
06:18 And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink,
06:21 did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?
06:26 Should ye not hear the words which the Lord
06:29 hath cried by the former prophets,
06:32 when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity,
06:34 and the cities thereof round about her,
06:37 when men inhabited the south and the plain?
06:41 And the word of the Lord came unto Zechariah,
06:43 saying, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts,
06:46 saying, Execute true judgment,
06:49 and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother.
06:54 And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless,
06:58 the stranger, nor the poor,
06:59 and let none of you imagine evil
07:02 against his brother in your heart.
07:05 But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder,
07:08 and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.
07:12 Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone,
07:15 lest they should hear the law,
07:16 and the words which the Lord of hosts
07:18 hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets.
07:21 Therefore came a great wrath from the Lord of hosts.
07:25 Therefore it is come to pass,
07:27 that as he cried, and they would not hear,
07:30 so they cried, and I would not hear,
07:33 saith the Lord of hosts.
07:35 But I scattered them with a whirlwind
07:37 among all the nations whom they knew not.
07:41 Thus the land was desolate after them,
07:43 that no man passed through nor returned,
07:46 for they laid the pleasant land desolate."
07:51 Continuing in Zechariah, Chapter 8,
07:54 this is the King James Version.
07:57 "Again the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying,
08:01 thus saith the Lord of hosts,
08:03 I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy,
08:06 and I was jealous for her with great fury.
08:10 Thus saith the Lord, I am returned unto Zion,
08:13 and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem,
08:16 and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth.
08:20 And the mountain of the Lord of hosts the holy mountain.
08:24 Thus saith the Lord of hosts,
08:25 There shall yet old men and old women
08:28 dwell in the streets of Jerusalem,
08:30 and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.
08:34 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls
08:38 playing in the streets thereof.
08:40 Thus saith the Lord of hosts,
08:42 If it be marvellous in the eyes of the remnant
08:44 of this people in these days,
08:46 should it also be marvellous in mine eyes?
08:49 Saith the Lord of hosts.
08:51 Thus saith the Lord of hosts,
08:52 Behold, I will save my people from the east country,
08:57 and from the West Country.
08:58 And I will bring them,
09:00 and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem,
09:02 and they shall be my people, and I will be their God,
09:06 in truth and in righteousness.
09:10 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Let your hands be strong,
09:13 ye that hear in these days
09:15 these words by the mouth of the prophets,
09:18 which were in the day that the foundation of the house
09:21 of the Lord of hosts was laid,
09:23 that the temple might be built.
09:26 For before these days there was no hire for man,
09:29 nor any hire for beast.
09:31 Neither was there any peace to him
09:33 that went out or came in because of the affliction.
09:36 For I set all men every one against his neighbour.
09:40 But now I will not be unto the residue of this people
09:43 as in the former days, saith the Lord of hosts.
09:46 For the seed shall be prosperous,
09:49 the vine shall give her fruit,
09:51 and the ground shall give her increase,
09:54 and the heavens shall give their dew.
09:57 And I will cause the remnant of this people
09:59 to possess all these things.
10:02 And it shall come to pass,
10:04 that as ye were a curse among the heathen,
10:07 O house of Judah, and house of Israel,
10:10 so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing.
10:14 Fear not, but let your hands be strong.
10:18 For thus saith the Lord of hosts,
10:20 As I thought to punish you,
10:21 when your fathers provoked me to wrath,
10:23 saith the Lord of hosts, and I repented not.
10:27 So again have I thought in these days
10:29 to do well unto Jerusalem
10:32 and to the house of Judah, fear ye not.
10:36 These are the things that ye shall do,
10:39 Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour,
10:44 execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates.
10:48 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts
10:51 against his neighbour, and love no false oath.
10:55 For all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord.
10:59 And the word of the Lord of hosts came unto me, saying,
11:01 Thus saith the Lord of hosts,
11:03 The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth,
11:06 and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth,
11:09 shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness,
11:14 and cheerful feasts.
11:16 Therefore love the truth and peace.
11:20 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, it shall yet come to pass,
11:24 that there shall come people,
11:25 and the inhabitants of many cities.
11:28 And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another,
11:30 saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the Lord,
11:34 and to seek the Lord of hosts, I will go also.
11:38 Yea, many people and strong nations
11:42 shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem,
11:46 and to pray before the Lord.
11:48 Thus saith the Lord of hosts,
11:50 In those days it shall come to pass,
11:52 that ten men shall take
11:54 hold out of all languages of the nations,
11:57 even shall take hold of the skirt of him
11:59 that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you.
12:03 For we have heard that God is with you."
12:07 Continuing in Zechariah, Chapter 9,
12:09 and this is the King James Version.
12:12 "The burden of the word of the Lord
12:15 in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus
12:18 shall be the rest thereof.
12:20 When the eyes of man,
12:22 as of all the tribes of Israel,
12:24 shall be toward the Lord.
12:26 And Hamath also shall border thereby,
12:29 Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very wise.
12:33 And Tyrus did build herself a strong hold,
12:36 and heaped up silver as the dust,
12:38 and fine gold as the mire of the streets.
12:41 Behold, the Lord will cast her out,
12:43 and he will smite her power in the sea,
12:46 and she shall be devoured with fire.
12:49 Ashkelon shall see it, and fear.
12:52 Gaza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful and Ekron,
12:57 for her expectation shall be ashamed,
13:00 and the king shall perish from Gaza,
13:02 and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.
13:04 And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod,
13:06 and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.
13:10 And I will take away his blood out of his mouth,
13:12 and his abominations from between his teeth.
13:15 But he that remaineth, even he, shall be for our God,
13:20 and he shall be as a governor in Judah,
13:22 and Ekron as a Jebusite.
13:25 And I will encamp about mine house because of the army,
13:29 because of him that passeth by,
13:31 and because of him that returneth.
13:33 And no oppressor shall pass through them any more.
13:37 For now I have seen with mine eyes.
13:41 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion,
13:44 shout, O daughter of Jerusalem,
13:47 behold, thy King cometh unto thee.
13:50 He is just, and having salvation,
13:54 lowly, and riding upon an ass,
13:57 and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
14:00 And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim,
14:03 and the horse from Jerusalem,
14:04 and the battle bow shall be cut off,
14:07 and he shall speak peace unto the heathen.
14:10 And his dominion shall be from sea even to sea,
14:14 and from the river even to the ends of the earth.
14:18 As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant
14:21 I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit
14:25 wherein is no water.
14:27 Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope,
14:31 even to-day do I declare
14:35 that I will render double unto thee."
