00:15 Hello and welcome back to "His Words Are Life."
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and today we'll be reading together
00:21 starting in the Book of Zechariah,
00:23 but let's pray before we start.
00:25 Dear Heavenly Father, thank you so much
00:28 that in Your very great mercy
00:30 You sent Your son to die for us.
00:32 And then you sent us the Comforter to be with us
00:35 and You sent us Your word to guide us.
00:38 Please be with us now
00:39 as we read these words of Your life and truth.
00:43 We love You so much and thank You for loving us, amen.
00:47 Reading in the Book of Zechariah,
00:48 starting in Chapter 9 with verse 13,
00:52 and this is the King James Version.
00:55 "When I have bent Judah for me,
00:57 filled the bow with Ephraim,
00:59 and raised up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons,
01:02 O Greece, and made thee as the sword of a mighty man.
01:06 And the Lord shall be seen over them,
01:08 and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning,
01:12 and the Lord God shall blow the trumpet,
01:14 and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.
01:17 The Lord of hosts shall defend them,
01:19 and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones,
01:23 and they shall drink,
01:24 and make a noise as through wine,
01:26 and they shall be filled like bowls,
01:28 and as the corners of the altar.
01:30 And the Lord their God shall save them in that day
01:33 as the flock of his people,
01:35 for they shall be as the stones of a crown,
01:38 lifted up as an ensign upon his land.
01:41 For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty!
01:46 corn shall make the young men cheerful,
01:49 and new wine the maids."
01:52 Continuing in Zechariah, Chapter 10,
01:54 and this is the King James Version.
01:57 "Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain,
02:02 so the Lord shall make bright clouds,
02:04 and give them showers of rain,
02:06 to every one grass in the field.
02:09 For the idols have spoken vanity,
02:11 and the diviners have seen a lie,
02:13 and have told false dreams, they comfort in vain,
02:17 therefore they went their way as a flock,
02:19 they were troubled, because there was no shepherd.
02:23 Mine anger was kindled against the shepherds,
02:25 and I punished the goats, for the Lord of hosts
02:27 hath visited his flock the house of Judah,
02:30 and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle.
02:34 Out of him came forth the corner,
02:36 out of him the nail, out of him the battle bow,
02:39 out of him every oppressor together.
02:42 And they shall be as mighty men,
02:44 which tread down their enemies
02:46 in the mire of the streets in the battle,
02:49 and they shall fight, because the Lord is with them,
02:52 and the riders on horses shall be confounded.
02:56 And I will strengthen the house of Judah,
02:59 and I will save the house of Joseph,
03:01 and I will bring them again to place them,
03:04 for I have mercy upon them,
03:07 and they shall be as though I had not cast them off,
03:10 for I am the Lord their God, and will hear them.
03:15 And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man,
03:18 and their heart shall rejoice as through wine,
03:21 yea, their children shall see it, and be glad,
03:24 their heart shall rejoice in the Lord.
03:28 I will hiss for them, and gather them,
03:29 for I have redeemed them,
03:32 and they shall increase as they have increased.
03:35 And I will sow them among the people,
03:37 and they shall remember me in far countries,
03:40 and they shall live with their children, and turn again.
03:45 I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt,
03:47 and gather them out of Assyria,
03:49 and I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon,
03:53 and place shall not be found for them.
03:56 And he shall pass through the sea with affliction,
03:59 and shall smite the waves in the sea,
04:01 and all the deeps of the river shall dry up,
04:04 and the pride of Assyria shall be brought down,
04:07 and the sceptre of Egypt shall depart away.
04:12 And I will strengthen them in the Lord,
04:15 and they shall walk up and down
04:17 in his name, saith the Lord."
04:21 Continuing in Zechariah, Chapter 11,
04:23 this is the King James Version.
04:26 "Open thy doors, O Lebanon,
04:29 that the fire may devour thy cedars.
04:31 Howl, fir tree, for the cedar is fallen,
04:35 because the mighty are spoiled,
04:37 howl, O ye oaks of Bashan,
04:39 for the forest of the vintage is come down.
04:43 There is a voice of the howling of the shepherds,
04:46 for their glory is spoiled,
04:48 a voice of the roaring of young lions,
04:51 for the pride of Jordan is spoiled.
04:54 Thus saith the Lord my God,
04:57 Feed the flock of the slaughter,
04:59 Whose possessors slay them,
05:01 and hold themselves not guilty,
05:03 and they that sell them say, Blessed be the Lord,
05:07 for I am rich, and their own shepherds pity them not.
05:11 For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land,
05:14 saith the Lord, but, lo,
05:15 I will deliver the men every one
05:17 into his neighbour's hand,
05:18 and into the hand of his king,
05:19 and they shall smite the land,
05:21 and out of their hand I will not deliver them.
05:25 And I will feed the flock of slaughter,
05:27 even you, O poor of the flock.
05:30 And I took unto me two staves,
05:32 the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands,
05:36 and I fed the flock.
05:38 Three shepherds also I cut off in one month,
05:41 and my soul lothed them,
05:42 and their soul also abhorred me.
05:46 Then said I, I will not feed you,
05:49 that that dieth, let it die,
05:51 and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off,
05:54 and let the rest eat every one the flesh of another.
05:58 And I took my staff, even Beauty,
06:00 and cut it asunder,
06:02 that I might break my covenant
06:04 which I had made with all the people.
06:06 And it was broken in that day,
06:08 and so the poor of the flock
06:10 that waited upon me knew
06:13 that it was the word of the Lord.
06:15 And I said unto them, If ye think good,
06:19 give me my price, and if not, forbear.
06:24 So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.
06:29 And the Lord said unto me, Cast it unto the potter,
06:33 a goodly price that I was prised at of them.
06:36 And I took the thirty pieces of silver,
06:38 and cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord.
06:41 Then I cut asunder mine other staff, even Bands,
06:45 and I might break the brotherhood
06:46 between Judah and Israel.
06:48 And the Lord said unto me, Take unto thee
06:51 yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd.
06:54 For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land,
06:56 which shall not visit those that be cut off,
06:59 neither shall seek the young one,
07:01 nor heal that that is broken,
07:03 nor feed that that standeth still,
07:06 but he shall eat the flesh of the fat,
07:08 and tear their claws in pieces.
07:11 Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock!
07:15 The sword shall be upon his arm,
07:17 and upon his right eye,
07:19 his arm shall be clean dried up,
07:21 and his right eye shall be utterly darkened."
07:26 Continuing in the Book of Zechariah, Chapter 12.
07:29 This is the King James Version.
07:32 "The burden of the word of the Lord
07:33 for Israel saith the Lord,
07:36 which stretcheth forth the heavens,
07:37 and layeth the foundation of the earth,
07:39 and formeth the spirit of man within him.
07:44 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling
07:48 unto all the people round about,
07:50 when they shall be in the siege
07:53 both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
07:56 And in that day will I make Jerusalem
07:58 a burdensome stone for all people,
08:02 all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces,
08:05 though all the people of the earth
08:07 be gathered together against it.
08:09 In that day, saith the Lord,
08:11 I will smite every horse with astonishment,
08:13 and his rider with madness,
08:15 and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah,
08:18 and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.
08:22 And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart,
08:26 The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength
08:28 in the Lord of hosts their God.
08:31 In that day will I make the governors of Judah
08:33 like an hearth of fire among the wood,
08:35 and like a torch of fire in a sheaf,
08:38 and they shall devour all the people round about,
08:41 on the right hand and on the left,
08:44 and Jerusalem shall be inhabited
08:45 again in her own place, even in Jerusalem.
08:49 The Lord also shall save the tents of Judah first,
08:53 that the glory of the house of David
08:55 and the glory of the inhabitants
08:56 of Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah.
09:01 In that day shall the Lord
09:03 defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
09:06 and he that is feeble among them
09:07 at that day shall be as David,
09:10 and the house of David shall be as God,
09:13 as the angel of the Lord before them.
09:15 And it shall come to pass in that day,
09:17 that I will seek to destroy all the nations
09:19 that come against Jerusalem.
09:22 And I will pour upon the house of David,
09:24 and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
09:27 the spirit of grace and of supplications,
09:31 and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced,
09:35 and they shall mourn for him,
09:36 as one mourneth for his only son,
09:39 and shall be in bitterness for him,
09:42 as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
09:46 In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem,
09:50 as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.
09:54 And the land shall mourn, every family apart,
09:58 the family of the house of David apart,
10:00 and their wives apart,
10:02 the family of the house of Nathan apart,
10:04 and their wives apart,
10:06 The family of the house of Levi apart,
10:08 and their wives apart, the family of Shimei apart,
10:13 and their wives apart,
10:14 All the families that remain, every family apart,
10:18 and their wives apart."
10:21 Continuing in Zechariah Chapter 13,
10:25 and this is the King James Version.
10:28 "In that day there shall be a fountain
10:30 opened to the house of David
10:32 and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem
10:34 for sin and for uncleanness.
10:37 And it shall come to pass in that day,
10:40 saith the Lord of hosts,
10:41 that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land,
10:44 and they shall no more be remembered,
10:47 and also I will cause the prophets
10:49 and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.
10:52 And it shall come to pass,
10:53 that when any shall yet prophesy,
10:56 then his father and his mother
10:57 that begat him shall say unto him,
11:00 Thou shalt not live,
11:01 for thou speakest lies in the name of the Lord,
11:04 and his father and his mother
11:05 that begat him shall thrust him
11:07 through when he prophesieth.
11:09 And it shall come to pass in that day,
11:11 that the prophets shall be ashamed
11:13 every one of his vision, when he hath prophesied,
11:17 neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive,
11:21 But he shall say, I am no prophet,
11:24 I am an husbandman,
11:26 for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.
11:29 And one shall say unto him,
11:31 What are these wounds in thine hands?
11:34 Then he shall answer, Those with which
11:37 I was wounded in the house of my friends.
11:41 Awake, O sword, against my shepherd,
11:43 and against the man that is my fellow,
11:46 saith the Lord of hosts, smite the shepherd,
11:49 and the sheep shall be scattered,
11:51 and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.
11:53 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land,
11:56 saith the Lord,
11:58 two parts therein shall be cut off and die,
12:01 but the third shall be left therein.
12:04 And I will bring the third part through the fire,
12:07 and will refine them as silver is refined,
12:10 and will try them as gold is tried,
12:14 they shall call on my name, and I will hear them,
12:18 I will say, It is my people, and they shall say,
12:23 The Lord is my God."
12:26 Continuing in Zechariah, Chapter 14,
12:28 and this is the King James Version.
12:32 "Behold, the day of the Lord cometh,
12:34 and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
12:37 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle,
12:41 and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled,
12:44 and the women ravished,
12:46 and half of the city shall go forth into captivity,
12:48 and the residue of the people
12:49 shall not be cut off from the city.
12:52 Then shall the Lord go forth,
12:53 and fight against those nations,
12:56 as when he fought in the day of battle.
12:58 And his feet shall stand in that day
13:01 upon the mount of Olives,
13:02 which is before Jerusalem on the east,
13:05 and the mount of Olives shall cleave
13:07 in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west,
13:11 and there shall be a very great valley,
13:13 and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north,
13:17 and half of it toward the south.
13:20 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains,
13:23 for the valley of the mountains
13:24 shall reach unto Azal, yea, ye shall flee,
13:28 like as ye fled from before the earthquake
13:30 in the days of Uzziah king of Judah,
13:33 and the Lord my God shall come,
13:35 and all the saints with thee.
13:38 And it shall come to pass in that day,
13:41 that the light shall not be clear, nor dark,
13:45 But it shall be one day
13:46 which shall be known to the Lord,
13:48 not day, nor night, but it shall come to pass,
13:52 that at evening time it shall be light.
13:54 And it shall be in that day,
13:56 that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem,
14:00 half of them toward the former sea,
14:01 and half of them toward the hinder sea,
14:04 in summer and in winter shall it be.
14:07 And the Lord shall be king over all the earth,
14:11 in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.
14:16 All the land shall be turned as a plain
14:19 from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem,
14:22 and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place,
14:24 from Benjamin's gate unto the place of the first gate,
14:27 unto the corner gate,
14:29 and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king's winepresses.
14:33 And men shall dwell in it,
14:35 and there shall be no more utter destruction,
14:38 but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited."
