00:02 If you've just joined us on Cook:30 for Kids,
00:04 we're having so much fun in the kitchen.
00:07 We have Sam from Mississippi and Chloe from Tennessee.
00:11 Guys, what is on the menu today?
00:14 Asian tofu tacos with lime lettuce mango.
00:18 Wow!
00:20 And for dessert, creamy mango ice cream.
00:23 I cannot wait to try it.
00:25 We're making excellent progress here.
00:27 So let's have a look of this tofu here.
00:29 Look at that.
00:30 For a first stirrer, you have done amazing.
00:32 Look at this. First time cook.
00:34 Thank you. You got a little bit on here.
00:35 But I think you've kept most of it in the pan,
00:36 so that's good.
00:38 Thanks.
00:39 Usually it gets little bit outside of it.
00:40 So what we're going to do now?
00:42 And you can do this for us.
00:43 Just pour this marinade over.
00:45 And this is what's going to make
00:47 this tofu taste amazing.
00:52 Just pour all in.
00:56 Okay, Sam, give it a stir.
00:57 You got it. They're bubbling.
00:59 So that tofu is just sucking in all those wonderful flavors.
01:03 You turn it from something
01:04 that's poor taste really bland to something
01:05 that's going to taste awesome.
01:08 So keep stirring. Yes, that's brilliant.
01:10 So we now need to start making our tacos.
01:12 So we're gonna turn this other gas on here.
01:15 Oops, wow, you got there.
01:17 And we're gonna use these corn tortillas.
01:21 Tortillas, sorry, I keep getting this mixed up.
01:23 So you see these.
01:25 So these are made from corn
01:26 and then these lovely little tortillas.
01:29 We gonna make tacos out of these.
01:31 Now these come in a supermarket,
01:32 just shelf stable like that.
01:34 You don't need to keep them in the fridge,
01:35 but we want to...
01:36 They're kind of a little bit
01:38 kind of rubbery and little pouring.
01:39 So you want to just kind of give them
01:40 a little bit of extra life.
01:42 So what we're going to do is I'll show you guys.
01:43 As we got some water here,
01:45 and what I'm going to do is basically get the tortilla,
01:49 give it a spray of water and put it on a hot pan.
01:52 Spray the other side.
01:53 And it just needs a couple of seconds
01:54 in this hot pan.
01:56 And that will just give it a bit of energy and life
01:58 soften it up and make it really yummy.
02:00 So perhaps I give you to look after this.
02:03 So she's going to come around here.
02:04 I'll give you some tweezers or some tongs.
02:09 So lift it up so you don't burn your fingers.
02:12 I just want to give...
02:13 it only needs a couple of seconds.
02:15 You can feel the heat there.
02:16 We're going to spray it.
02:18 Give it a bit of a turn.
02:19 Just a couple of seconds
02:21 that just kind of brings it to life.
02:22 So I'll just give you
02:23 the plates here to put them on as well.
02:26 So you gonna just put them in there
02:27 when they're done.
02:29 Okay, it's ready to go.
02:30 Just probably about ten seconds a side.
02:32 Let's see if you can lift it up,
02:34 put it on the pan.
02:35 Excellent. Yep, that's cool.
02:37 So let me get the other one. I'll bring them over for you.
02:40 And remember don't forget to spray them
02:41 before you put them on.
02:44 So spray one side.
02:46 Cool.
02:48 And spray there. Brilliant.
02:50 And just keep those just warming up
02:51 in a little bit of moist.
02:53 So we're making excellent progress here.
02:54 So what we're going to do with those,
02:56 now we're going to make them into tacos.
02:58 And this is the easy part.
02:59 So we've got
03:01 that wonderful lettuce, lime, mango, here
03:03 are those flavors.
03:05 So what we do is we grab one of these.
03:06 I'll grab some of these, finished one, done already.
03:09 Oop!
03:10 That one tore apart a little bit.
03:12 And we're just going to, all we do just put them there.
03:15 We just grate a little bit
03:17 of this lovely stuff here.
03:23 And just layer it on there.
03:24 And you only need
03:26 just probably a little spoonful.
03:29 And then we're going to layer a little bit of this on top.
03:33 And we're going to add a few other things
03:34 just for little bit of extra color.
03:36 So we've got some cherry tomatoes
03:40 and some avocado,
03:42 just to add a little bit of extra color
03:44 to go on top.
03:46 So I'm just going to chop these up into half.
03:50 Just to add a bit of extra so probably that...
03:52 Top it on there.
03:54 And we'll just lay them out and lift them up
03:55 and they'll become tacos.
03:58 Beautiful.
03:59 So we've got a production line going here.
04:01 Look at that.
04:03 Brilliant. Wonderful.
04:05 So just warmed enough to go.
04:07 So we'll just lay them out like this.
04:11 Get some of this stuff here.
04:13 He's stirring wonderfully.
04:14 What did we put in the tofu? You mean here?
04:16 Yeah.
04:18 We put the marinade in there that made it taste so good.
04:20 So we're gonna turn this down now,
04:22 you guys will taste it shortly
04:23 just to prove it does taste good.
04:24 So remember this tasted really, really boring when we started.
04:27 Yeah.
04:28 So hopefully, and this is what does make food taste amazing.
04:33 Little bit of lettuce.
04:34 So this is kind of a different approach
04:36 from your traditional mix in tacos.
04:39 Chop some of these guys here.
04:41 I'll put a bit of avocado and cilantro in later as well.
04:46 I'm sure, I hope it taste better.
04:49 It's the tofu
04:50 that we first tasted, tasted awful.
04:54 Let's try some. Let's take a spoon here.
04:56 Give it a bit of a taste. Help yourself. It's too hot.
04:58 Try a little bit of that.
05:00 Give it a bit of blow before you taste it.
05:02 And you try some as well.
05:04 Just give it a blow. Don't burn your lips.
05:10 What does it taste like?
05:11 Delicious. It's really good.
05:13 It's really good. Isn't it?
05:15 And I should bet, 10, 15 minutes ago,
05:17 they were just like
05:18 a boring block of just boringness.
05:20 And we have added whole of this flavor to it
05:22 to make it taste awesome.
05:23 What do you think?
05:25 It's really good. Amazing.
05:26 Do you guys, something as bland as tofu
05:28 can taste amazing
05:29 with little bit of flavor and care.
05:31 Almost better than candy.
05:33 And that is saying something. Okay, mango ice cream.
05:36 We're going to park that there for a second.
05:38 So if you can get the bananas and the mango from the freezer.
05:41 Over there. Thank you very much.
05:44 We've got a couple of minutes here
05:45 to make this ice cream and it is so quick.
05:48 So we got our food processor here.
05:49 This is the one with the S blade.
05:52 And what we're going to do is just add these ingredients.
05:57 Wonderful.
05:58 So here we've got some frozen mango.
06:00 You can get them from supermarket.
06:01 So I'm going to plop that in.
06:05 We're going to add the banana.
06:06 And what we've got here, if you guys have a look here.
06:10 As we've put banana in the freezer
06:11 and just frozen it.
06:13 As you can see it is...
06:15 Frozen stone. It is, exactly.
06:17 So if you can put that in the blender.
06:18 If you want to break it up
06:20 and put it
06:21 in the food processor over there.
06:23 We're going to add some...
06:24 We can add any kind of flavor we want.
06:25 I'm just gonna add some maple syrup,
06:27 just to give a little bit of sweetness
06:29 depending on your mango, banana,
06:30 if you need any.
06:32 And to make it creamy,
06:34 we're going to add some cashew nuts.
06:35 So we're going to add half cup of cashew nuts.
06:41 So this just looks like mango, banana, cashew nuts,
06:43 the maple syrup, but when we blend it,
06:45 it is going to turn into mango ice cream.
06:50 So put the lid on, wherever that's gone.
06:52 Just going to take a couple of minutes.
06:53 That should be enough of this.
06:55 So that probably too many bananas.
06:56 And let's get it blending and see what happens.
07:00 You can see it's racing around here.
07:08 It's coming on, it can take a couple of minutes
07:09 sometimes to do it.
07:11 And may have to add some water
07:12 but eventually it will get there,
07:14 and it will end up looking something like this.
07:18 Check that out.
07:19 Wow. Wow.
07:21 Have a little bit of try and see what you think.
07:22 Take it and have a go.
07:25 So this is creamy mango ice cream.
07:29 What do you think? It's really good.
07:32 Delicious. That's pretty good.
07:33 So now what we want to do?
07:35 We want to put it into these lovely dish
07:36 glasses over there.
07:37 Chloe, if you can get those glasses.
07:39 And we're going to take the blade out
07:40 so that we don't cut ourselves.
07:43 And present it really nicely.
07:45 Presentation is really important.
07:47 So now I'm not just going to whack this on a plate.
07:48 We're going to put this in some beautiful glasses.
07:52 Here we go. One glass.
07:54 Another glass like this.
07:58 And then we're gonna add some pistachio nuts.
08:01 I'm just going to chop them up a little bit.
08:03 I'm not sure if you can see that there at all,
08:05 and sprinkle them on top.
08:07 And this will make it look even more amazing as well.
08:11 So you got presentation.
08:12 And you got this beautiful mango creamy ice cream.
08:15 What do you think, guys?
08:17 Looks great. Looks so good.
08:19 And we'll finish those tacos during the break.
