00:31 I recently read that an elderly or older person
00:34 is defined as one who is 65 or older.
00:39 In that case, I imagine we all know someone
00:41 who classifies as elderly,
00:43 though we may not consider them elderly.
00:46 As a significant and growing percentage of society,
00:49 the elderly population is vital to our communities,
00:53 and they are a huge source of wisdom
00:55 due to their life experience.
00:57 If you are blessed to have grandparents,
00:59 parents or neighbors who are elderly,
01:02 I encourage you to celebrate them
01:04 and aim to better understand them.
01:07 Some elderly people may have various challenges,
01:11 but God has a purpose for us all.
01:13 And some wonderful relationships are waiting
01:15 to be cultivated, if you'll simply reach out
01:18 and love them.
01:20 And if you think there's nothing in God's Word
01:22 that enforces respect for our elders,
01:25 among various laws in Leviticus 19:32, says,
01:30 "Stand up in the presence of the aged,
01:32 show respect for the elderly, and revere your God,
01:36 I am the Lord."
01:39 To those of you who are 65 and older,
01:42 thank you for the lessons you teach those of us
01:44 who are quickly approaching your status.
01:47 Thank you for the difference that many
01:49 of you have made in my life.
01:51 We were all younger once,
01:53 though you may have been more active at one time,
01:56 you will never lack purpose as long as you are alive.
01:59 If you can breathe,
02:01 you can pray,
02:02 you can love,
02:04 you can hope.
02:05 Whatever your capacity, give it all you've got.
02:08 I challenge you don't grow weary.
02:10 Finish strong, be hopeful, and hold on to God's Word.
02:15 reminds us to,
02:18 "Hold firmly to the word of life,
02:20 then on the day of Christ's return,
02:22 I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain,
02:26 that my work was not useless."
02:32 Lord, I come to You in the name of Jesus,
02:36 asking for Your help to be a doer of the Word
02:40 and not just a hearer only.
02:43 Help me to be mindful of the needs of others.
02:47 In Jesus' name, amen.
02:53 Dear Father in heaven,
02:55 thank You for the examples of Your love for the elderly,
02:58 the shut-ins,
02:59 and all the suffering infirmities.
03:02 In Matthew 15, we are told,
03:04 great multitudes came to You, the lame, the blind,
03:08 the deaf, the dumb, the leper, the maimed,
03:12 and many others were laid down at Your feet,
03:16 and You heal them all.
03:18 Such love.
03:19 In 1 Corinthians 15, You tell us,
03:22 "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,
03:25 the dead shall be raised incorruptible
03:29 and the living shall also be changed."
03:32 Such love.
03:34 Whether we receive healing now or then,
03:37 we will all be restored finally, and forever.
03:42 What a glorious promise and what glorious love.
03:46 Thank you, Father.
03:48 In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
03:54 Our Father in heaven,
03:55 we take this moment now to bring before you
03:58 a special community, special people.
04:02 We think about the shut-ins.
04:04 We think about our elderly.
04:07 Lord, You know their very names who they are,
04:10 You know their hearts, You know their needs.
04:13 But I know in their hearts there are a lot
04:15 of praise to You, for You have been good
04:18 and faithful to them all in the all their years.
04:22 I pray that you'll comfort them
04:25 and that they will sense Your presence.
04:28 Thank You, Jesus, for each and every one of them.
04:32 Thank you for what they have done to further
04:36 Your preaching of the gospel.
04:39 Thank You for what they have done
04:42 for the salvation of others.
04:45 And thank You for their ministry,
04:47 they have done so much
04:48 and they have been an encouragement.
04:52 Please be with them as
04:54 they are facing their challenges
04:57 and be with them as they are preparing to meet You
05:02 soon and very soon.
05:04 In Jesus' name, amen.
05:09 Heavenly Father, we lift up in prayer
05:11 those who are elderly,
05:13 especially those in the shut-ins.
05:16 Many without families, some forgotten.
05:20 Lord, they also need You.
05:24 Help us to see their need,
05:26 and use us to show them Your love.
05:33 In the harvest field,
05:36 now ripen
05:38 There's a work for all to do
05:43 Harken the voice of God
05:47 Is calling to the harvest
05:51 He's calling you
05:54 Little is much
05:57 When God is in it
06:00 Labor, not for wealth or fame
06:06 There's a crown and you can win it
06:11 If you go in Jesus' name
06:18 Does the place you're called to labor
06:23 Seem so small and little known?
06:28 It is great if God is in it
06:33 And He'll not forget His own
06:43 Dear Father in heaven, Lord, I want to uplift each one
06:46 of the elderly shut-ins right now.
06:48 Father, You know how much they've struggled.
06:50 You know the times that they want to do things
06:53 and You know their loneliness that they have.
06:55 And You know the emptiness that they feel sometimes
06:58 of not being wanted of not being useful to society.
07:03 Father, I want to uplift them right now to You.
07:06 Take them by Your hands and comfort them.
07:08 And, Lord, You promised in Your Word that You
07:11 would never forsake us or abandon us.
07:14 So, Lord, I know at this moment You have them in Your hands,
07:17 and I know You're taking care of them.
07:19 Thank You, Father. In Jesus' precious name.
07:21 Amen.
07:25 Lord, we know You and trust You.
07:28 We know that in You we can find rest and comfort.
07:32 During this trying time, we need You more than ever,
07:35 to know that we are not alone.
07:37 And, Lord, there are some of us even more alone at this time,
07:42 some who are even more vulnerable,
07:45 and thus need an extra hand of protection,
07:48 an extra portion of love and comfort.
07:52 There are those who cannot leave their homes,
07:54 whether due to illness, disability, or age.
07:59 So I pray on behalf of the elderly,
08:01 and those who cannot leave their homes at this time.
08:05 I ask that You would enter into their homes
08:08 and show them the peace
08:10 that I know is found only in You.
08:13 Lord, I ask that You would bring comfort to them
08:16 at this time.
08:17 And that You would show us how we can be vessels
08:20 of Your love to these precious ones.
08:23 I ask a blessing upon them in Your precious name.
08:26 Amen.
08:32 When the conflict here has ended
08:37 And our race honors this run.
08:42 He will say if we are faithful
08:48 "Welcome home, my child, well done"
08:54 Little is much when God is in it
08:59 Labor not for wealth or fame
09:05 There's a crown and you can win it
09:11 If you go in
09:15 Jesus' name
09:24 Psalm 92:12-15 remind us,
09:29 "The righteous flourish like the palm tree
09:31 and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
09:34 They are planted in the house of the Lord.
09:37 They flourish in the courts of our God.
09:40 They still bear fruit in old age.
09:44 They are ever full of sap and green.
09:48 To declare that the Lord is upright,
09:52 He is my rock and there is no unrighteousness in Him."
09:57 Isn't that good?
09:59 God, I just want thank You for life.
10:03 Today I pray especially for those
10:05 who are allowed to live a long, full life.
10:09 I pray that You would cause those
10:10 who are defined as elderly.
10:13 Lord, may they bear fruit.
10:17 May they be ever full of sap.
10:22 And may they be green
10:25 during their long days.
10:29 Draw them into deeper communion with You, Lord,
10:33 deeper than they've ever have
10:34 than they've never experienced before.
10:41 I pray, dear God, for their protection.
10:45 Lord, I pray that they would know,
10:47 they would sense that Your presence is with them,
10:52 that Your power is in them, Lord.
10:57 And, God, I pray for the spread
10:58 of the gospel in the nursing homes.
11:04 Father, for those who all during their life
11:07 lived without You.
11:10 Father, may this time
11:14 in assisted living in,
11:16 in their elderly years.
11:20 May they realize that
11:21 it's never too late to turn to You.
11:28 And, God, I pray for those who are caring
11:30 for the elderly, that You would use their hands
11:36 as a display of Your love and protection.
11:41 In Jesus' name, amen.
11:46 Do you have someone in your life
11:48 that you need to pray for?
11:51 An elderly person, a neighbor or family,
11:53 family member?
11:55 Let's take a moment to pray for them.
