01:08 Hello Friends, I'm Jill Morikone.
01:10 I cannot believe it is the start of Quarter Number 2.
01:13 We're starting a brand-new Quarter
01:16 for 3ABN Sabbath School Panel.
01:18 This is on Three Cosmic Messages
01:19 which is all about the three angels' messages.
01:23 That's right, we're spending an entire Quarter
01:26 unpacking what the those messages mean for us
01:29 and the relevance for us as God's end-time people.
01:33 This Quarterly was written by Elder Mark Finley,
01:36 International Evangelist.
01:38 In fact, he's been to 3ABN many times
01:41 and he has a Series on 3ABN by the same name as our Quarterly:
01:44 Three Cosmic Messages
01:46 and it's on the three angels' messages.
01:49 He's an incredible student of the Word...
01:51 he did a great job with this Lesson
01:53 and we're looking forward to studying with you
01:55 and with our family here.
01:57 To my left, Pastor John Dinzey,
01:59 so glad you're here.
02:00 Dinzey: It's a blessing to be here... I have Monday,
02:02 Satan's Attack.
02:04 Jill: Amen... in the middle, my sister, Shelley Quinn.
02:08 Shelley: I am so excited to be here...
02:11 mine is:
02:13 Accepting Jesus' Victory.
02:15 Jill: Ooooh... sounds excellent,
02:17 Pastor John Lomacang.
02:19 Lomacang: Mine is Wednesday, Woman in the Wilderness.
02:23 This is very insightful for the time it was written
02:26 as well as today.
02:28 Jill: Amen... last but not least,
02:29 Evangelist and Singer in Israel Pastor Ryan Day.
02:32 Ryan: Thank you so much, I have Thursday's Lesson:
02:35 God's End-time Remnant.
02:37 Jill: Amen... before we go any further,
02:38 we want to go to the Lord in prayer
02:40 and Pastor John, would you pray for us?
02:41 Lomacang: Sure, let's bow our heads,
02:43 "Loving Father in heaven,
02:44 to open Your Word is to step into a book
02:46 that's far deeper than we are
02:49 and we are exposed to a mind
02:51 that empowers us to think in a way that is spiritually guided.
02:56 So, we ask today for the guidance of Your Holy Spirit...
03:00 for the beauty of Your words to come alive in our minds
03:03 and in our communication
03:04 and may through this study of Revelation,
03:07 Jesus is clearly revealed.
03:09 The three angels' messages is specified in its detail
03:14 in how it means and what it means to us today
03:16 and Christ is glorified.
03:18 We ask in Jesus' name, amen. "
03:21 Panel: Amen.
03:22 Jill: The Lesson started with a great question
03:25 and I want to start with that.
03:27 What happened in 1844?
03:30 On October 15, 1844,
03:33 Friedrich Nietzsche was born.
03:35 Now, who was he?
03:37 He's one of the most influential Atheists of the modern era.
03:40 In 1844, Karl Marx published
03:44 the economic and philosophic manuscripts of 1844...
03:48 later led to Communism.
03:51 In 1844, Charles Darwin wrote one of his earliest expressions
03:57 of evolutionary theory.
03:59 Now, it wasn't published then... it was published later.
04:02 On October 22, 1844, we have what we call:
04:06 The Great Disappointment happened
04:09 where the Millerites who had gathered were looking
04:12 for the second coming of Christ.
04:14 But instead, it wasn't a disappointing day at all.
04:17 They had misunderstood what was to take place
04:19 but they didn't get the date wrong at all.
04:22 The fulfillment of the 2300 prophecy of Daniel 8:14,
04:27 Christ entered the Most Holy Place
04:30 and judgment would begin.
04:32 This Movement... the Seventh-day Adventist Church
04:36 would repudiate the belief system of Marxism...
04:41 the belief system of Darwinism...
04:43 the belief system of Nietzscheism
04:45 or however, you pronounce that.
04:47 The Seventh-day Adventist Movement
04:49 teaches that God is our Creator.
04:51 He created the world in six literal days
04:55 while resting on the Sabbath.
04:57 That's opposed to Darwin's theory of Evolution.
05:00 We believe that God not only exists,
05:02 but He has a model code of character
05:05 known as His Ten-Commandment Law.
05:08 That's opposed to Nietzsche's Atheism.
05:11 We believe the great controversy between good and evil
05:15 will end in the supernatural establishment
05:19 of God's eternal kingdom.
05:22 That's opposed to Marxist... his man-made Communist utopia.
05:27 You see the three angels' messages
05:29 refutes not just the errors or the false teachings of those men
05:34 but many other errors today.
05:36 They have at their core...
05:38 the gospel presented in the context of present truth.
05:44 They are literally the marching orders
05:46 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
05:49 This week, we look at: Jesus Wins and Satan Loses.
05:53 You know, Mr. Danny Shelton always says,
05:55 "We read the back of the book and what does it say?
05:58 We win. "
05:59 In this battle of the great controversy,
06:01 sometimes, it can appear that sin and Satan wins.
06:05 Sometimes, we feel feeble
06:07 and we don't feel like how can we get victory?
06:09 Are you tired of the effects of sin?
06:11 Are you tired of what's going on?
06:13 Does it sometimes seem like...
06:14 like it says in Psalm 73 that the wicked are prospering?
06:18 Though we might be outnumbered...
06:20 though it seems that the odds might be stacked against us,
06:25 though Satan's attack sometimes can be vicious...
06:28 Jesus always wins in the end.
06:32 That's the theme of Revelation.
06:35 Jesus wins... Satan loses.
06:39 The heart of this battle is outlined in Revelation chapter 12
06:43 which is the focus of our study this week.
06:47 Let's look at our memory text.
06:49 We're in Revelation 12 verse 17...
06:53 Revelation 12: 17,
06:55 "And the dragon was enraged... " or wroth "with the woman,
06:58 and went to make war with the rest of her offspring... "
07:01 or the remnant of her seed...
07:03 you can tell I memorized this in King James...
07:05 "who keep the commandments of God
07:07 and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. "
07:11 On Sunday we look at that battle in heaven...
07:15 that war that broke out in heaven
07:17 and we're going to verse 7 of Revelation chapter 12.
07:21 I have those three verses,
07:22 Revelation 12 verses 7 through 9,
07:26 "And war broke out in heaven:
07:31 Michael and his angels... " now, who's Michael?
07:34 Michael is none other than Jesus Christ Himself.
07:37 Michael... the name means: Who is like God?
07:40 He's identified as the Chief Prince in Daniel.
07:44 He's the Archangel of Jude chapter 1 verse 9.
07:47 He's the One who appeared to Joshua at Jericho
07:51 as Commander of the heavenly host
07:53 and acquainted with the Lord Himself.
07:55 So, Christ and His angels
07:57 are involved in a battle with who?
07:59 The dragon and his angels.
08:02 Who's the dragon, Pastor Johnny?
08:04 The dragon is none other than Satan.
08:06 We see that in verse 9...
08:07 the dragon is called the serpent of old
08:11 called the devil and Satan.
08:15 Now, what is this war that broke out in heaven?
08:18 I want to go back to Ezekiel chapter 28.
08:20 Ezekiel chapter 28... we see this war that broke out,
08:26 we see Lucifer the covering Cherub
08:29 begins a war in heaven.
08:31 We're in Ezekiel 28:14 through 17,
08:33 "You... " this is speaking of Lucifer.
08:36 "were the anointed cherub who covers;
08:39 I established you;
08:40 you were on the holy mountain of God;
08:43 you walked back and forth in the midst of the fiery stones.
08:47 You were... " what's that word?
08:49 "perfect in your ways from the day you were created. "
08:54 It always confuses me...
08:55 I don't think I'm every going to understand this till heaven.
08:57 How can sin arise where there was no sin?
09:00 You know for... for you and I,
09:02 we're tempted because there is Satan.
09:05 We're tempted
09:07 because we have maybe hereditary tendencies to sin...
09:10 but there was no sin...
09:12 there was no tempter...
09:13 there was no temptation...
09:14 there was no hereditary tendencies to sin
09:17 and yet, sin arose in that perfect world.
09:21 "You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created,
09:24 till iniquity was found in you.
09:27 By the abundance of your trading... "
09:29 that word is really fascinating to me...
09:32 in Hebrew, it means slander...
09:34 to go about from one to another
09:37 trading either goods or words
09:39 so this war in heaven is not a physical altercation,
09:44 we're talking about a war of words...
09:47 a war of principles...
09:50 Satan undermining or seeking to undermine
09:53 the character of God.
09:55 "By the abundance of your trading
09:58 you became filled with violence within and you sinned.
10:00 Therefore I cast you out as a profane thing
10:03 out of the mountain of God. "
10:06 Let's go back to Revelation 12,
10:08 we've read verse 7
10:09 and verse 8 we discovered that Christ...
10:11 Michael and the angels are victorious
10:13 because Satan did not prevail...
10:15 "nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer.
10:18 So the great dragon was cast out,
10:20 that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan,
10:22 who deceives the whole world;
10:24 he was cast to the earth,
10:25 and his angels were cast out with him. "
10:27 We know the dragon drew a third of the stars of heaven, right?
10:30 A third of the angels were cast to this earth with Satan.
10:36 Now, we're going to spend the rest of our discussion
10:38 on the gift that God gave to you and to me
10:42 a free choice.
10:43 God's gift of free choice.
10:45 Why were we created with free choice?
10:48 I want to read you this statement
10:50 and then I'll give you three reasons from Jill.
10:53 But I want to read you this statement from...
10:55 this actually came from my dad...
10:56 my dad loves to teach Sabbath School...
10:58 Dr. James Penny
11:00 and when I asked him, I said, "Dad,
11:01 why do you think we are created with free choice?"
11:03 This is what he said,
11:05 "Fundamental to who God is is His character.
11:08 The chief or foundational characteristic of his character
11:12 is love.
11:14 Love has many supporting characteristics
11:16 but primary to all of them is freedom of choice.
11:20 Thus, love never forces.
11:22 Love has a direction...
11:24 it is always outward to others.
11:27 The object of God's action is always for others' benefit.
11:31 Satan chose to change the direction of love to himself.
11:36 All sin does the same thing.
11:38 Instead of action for the benefit of others,
11:42 actions now are for the benefit of oneself.
11:45 No one in the universe understood
11:48 what changes this sin would make.
11:51 So, God chose to allow sin and Satan
11:54 in order to allow sin in action.
11:57 But God also knew He would need to show
12:00 through the life and death of His Son Jesus
12:02 that Satan's way was wrong and God's way was best. "
12:07 I love the way he put it
12:09 because sometimes that concept is complicated
12:11 and to take it down and break it down to that... I love that.
12:15 I have three reasons in my remaining time
12:18 for free choice and first is: God is love.
12:21 1st John 4:8,
12:23 "God is love. "
12:25 Love never forces...
12:26 if it were to force, it would become abuse.
12:29 Reason Number 2:
12:31 The foundation of God's government is love.
12:35 God's law is an expression
12:38 or mirror of His character.
12:41 How do we know this?
12:42 Think of Romans chapter 7,
12:44 I love to look at these words,
12:45 Romans 7:12, "Therefore the law is holy,
12:48 and the commandment holy and just and good. "
12:50 Now you say, "Jill, that's talking about the law
12:52 that's not talking about God. "
12:53 If you look up Isaiah 5:16, it says,
12:56 "God who is holy is hallowed in righteousness. "
13:00 Now, here we see the Law is holy
13:01 but God is also holy. "
13:03 Romans 3:26 says,
13:04 "He might be just
13:06 and the justifier of the one who has faith in Christ. "
13:09 Now we see that God is just.
13:11 So, the law is just but God is just.
13:13 Luke 18:19, Jesus said, "Why do you call Me good?
13:17 No one is good but One, that is, God. "
13:19 Here we see... God is good.
13:20 The Law is good but God is good.
13:23 We see that love is the fulfillment of the Law
13:26 and we see that God is love.
13:29 The Law is perfect... God is perfect.
13:32 The Law is not burdensome...
13:33 God is not burdensome.
13:34 The Law is righteous...
13:36 God is righteous.
13:37 The Law is pure...
13:39 God is pure.
13:40 The Law is eternal...
13:41 God is eternal.
13:43 The Law is unchanging... God is unchanging.
13:46 If God is love,
13:47 and the law is an expression of His character,
13:50 then, God's Law is love.
13:52 And finally, Number 3:
13:54 Love allows the ability to choose.
13:57 If "choice" were taken away, you and I would become robots.
14:01 I think of Deuteronomy 30,
14:03 "I am giving you a choice... "
14:05 30 verse 15,
14:07 "between good and evil, life and death,
14:09 choose life. "
14:12 The choice, my Friends, is ours...
14:14 choose life.
14:15 Dinzey: Amen, praise the Lord...
14:17 Praise the Lord.
14:18 Well, we move now to Monday's portion of the Lesson
14:21 and the title is: Satan's Attack.
14:24 My name is John Dinzey,
14:26 it's a blessing to share this part of the Lesson
14:29 and we see here that from the start,
14:31 Satan sought to destroy Jesus
14:34 as we look at Revelation chapter 12.
14:36 This is the great controversy between good and evil
14:40 and Satan has been in the attack
14:44 ever since sin originated with him.
14:47 Let's go ahead and go to Revelation 12
14:51 and let's begin in verse 4,
14:54 "His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven
14:59 and threw them to the earth.
15:01 And the dragon stood before the woman
15:04 who was ready to give birth,
15:05 to devour her Child as soon as it was born. "
15:09 This is what the devil does.
15:11 He seeks to cause trouble...
15:14 he created a war in heaven
15:16 and here we see that
15:18 his tail drew a third of the stars of heaven.
15:20 So, he is not alone...
15:22 he has about a third of the angels of heaven
15:25 that sided with him
15:26 which is a... a... you know, it's one of those mysteries
15:30 how could they in a perfect environment,
15:33 the angels... who loved God,
15:35 and turn...
15:38 and be convinced that they were not happy.
15:41 You know, in order for somebody to join a rebellion,
15:43 they must be convinced
15:45 that they're going to get something better
15:47 than they already have.
15:49 So, Satan is so deceptive that he convinced them,
15:52 "I'm going to give you something better than you have. "
15:55 So, they joined the rebellion with Him,
15:57 and, of course, they did not get anything better...
16:00 he deceived them.
16:01 They were cast out of heaven
16:03 and eventually this war came to the earth.
16:06 But notice that it says there
16:08 that he has these angels that do his bidding
16:13 and notice the way this is described,
16:17 it says, "to devour her child as soon as it was born. "
16:22 So, ever since Jesus steps into the earth,
16:25 Satan says, "This is my opportunity. "
16:28 But the Lord was protecting Jesus as a child.
16:32 Now, it says in verse 5,
16:34 "She bore a male Child
16:36 who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron.
16:38 And her Child was caught up to God and His throne. "
16:41 This is obviously a reference to Jesus Christ
16:44 caught up to the throne of God.
16:46 "Then the woman fled into the wilderness,
16:49 where she has a place prepared by God,
16:51 that they should feed her there
16:52 one thousand two hundred and sixty days... "
16:55 which is equal to years
16:57 and you'll hear more about that as we continue.
16:59 Now we go to Revelation 12 and verse 9,
17:02 you see, the Lesson has asked us
17:04 to talk about symbols that are presented here
17:09 in these verses that we are reading.
17:10 In Revelation 12 verse 9 says,
17:13 "So the great dragon was cast out,
17:15 that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan,
17:19 who deceives the whole world;
17:21 he was cast to the earth,
17:23 and his angels were cast out with him. "
17:24 So, as we look at the Scripture,
17:26 it says that the Great Dragon...
17:27 that's the first symbol that the Lesson asks us to...
17:30 to talk about...
17:31 the Great Dragon... who is he?
17:32 the old serpent also called the devil and Satan.
17:36 the great adversary of humanity.
17:39 In Ephesians chapter 5 verses 25 to 27,
17:42 we are told, "Husbands, love your wives,
17:46 just as Christ also loved the church
17:49 and gave Himself for her,
17:51 that He might sanctify and cleanse her
17:54 with the washing of water by the word,
17:57 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church,
18:01 not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing,
18:04 but that she should be holy and without blemish. "
18:07 Now, as you look at this Scripture,
18:09 it is making a...
18:11 a... a parallel between husbands loving their wives
18:14 but notice how Paul also says,
18:17 "as Christ loved the church. "
18:18 So, the second symbol that we're asked to identify
18:22 is woman
18:24 and notice how it says in Ephesians chapter 5 verse 32,
18:27 "This is a great mystery,
18:29 but I speak concerning Christ and the church. "
18:32 So, a woman in the Bible... in Bible prophecy...
18:36 not all the time...
18:37 in Bible prophecy represents the church.
18:40 We have here in Jeremiah chapter 3 and verse 14
18:44 another Scripture that helps us understand
18:47 that this is the case.
18:48 It says there... Jeremiah 3:14,
18:51 "Return, O backsliding children,"
18:53 says the LORD;
18:55 "for I am married to you.
18:57 I will take you, one from a city
18:59 and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion. "
19:02 So, God is pictured as being married to the church
19:05 and this is why the woman is a fitting symbol
19:08 of the church.
19:10 Now, it's interesting that you have to understand
19:13 that the book of Revelation presents a pure woman...
19:15 that's what we see in Revelation 12,
19:17 but then there's an impure woman also called the harlot
19:20 as you continue reading in the book of Revelation.
19:22 But this woman here in Revelation 12 is the church.
19:25 So, in Revelation chapter 12 we also see
19:29 a symbol called the male child
19:31 and we already identified that as Jesus Christ.
19:33 Let's go to Psalm chapter 2 verses 7 to 9,
19:37 It says, "I will declare the decree:
19:40 The LORD has said to Me,
19:42 'You are My Son,
19:44 today I have begotten You.
19:46 Ask of Me,
19:48 and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance,
19:50 and the ends of the earth for Your possession.
19:52 You shall break them with a rod of iron;
19:55 you shall dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel. '"
19:58 So, the male child who is caught up to the throne of God
20:01 is Jesus Christ.
20:02 But here we have another symbol that are asked to identify...
20:05 the rod of iron
20:06 and the Lesson brings something out concerning this
20:08 that I now read to you from the Lesson.
20:11 Pastor Mark Finley... he says,
20:13 "In the Bible, a rod is a symbol of dominion or rulership.
20:17 A rod of iron is a symbol of an unbreakable,
20:20 unbreakable... all powerful... invincible rulership.
20:24 Jesus faced every single temptation
20:27 that we experience but He came off conqueror.
20:31 The devil is a defeated foe.
20:34 Christ has triumphed over him
20:37 in His life, death and resurrection.
20:40 Because Jesus has already
20:42 defeated the devil on Calvary's cross,
20:45 we can be victorious too. "
20:47 Praise the Lord for that.
20:49 "Christ's victory over Satan was complete
20:52 but the great controversy between good and evil
20:55 still continues. "
20:56 You see, the devil that attacked Jesus Christ
21:00 and tempted Him just like we are tempted,
21:04 is also after us.
21:06 His attack continues.
21:08 We're talking about the great controversy
21:10 between good and evil
21:11 and you ask yourself, "Why is he still attacking
21:15 since he is already a defeated foe?"
21:18 Why does he continue this?
21:19 Why doesn't he just say, "Well, I lost,
21:21 I better give up on this endeavor... "
21:22 but no, he continues
21:24 because the Bible pictures him having great wrath.
21:28 But there are other Scriptures that help us understand
21:31 how he is continuing.
21:34 I move now to Revelation chapter 12
21:37 we already read verse 4,
21:39 but I want to focus on
21:42 "his tail drew a third of the stars of heaven" for a moment,
21:45 because he is not able to be everywhere
21:48 so, he has his angels that do his bidding
21:51 these evil angels that fell from heaven.
21:54 Concerning Jesus, notice Isaiah 53 verse 3,
21:57 it says, "He is despised and rejected by men,
22:01 a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
22:04 And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
22:08 He was despised, and we did esteem Him not. "
22:11 And so, question,
22:14 who do you think made sure that Jesus was despised
22:18 and rejected of men?
22:19 It was the devil.
22:20 He worked in the minds of the men then present...
22:23 even the leaders...
22:24 the scribes and the Pharisees and the Sadducees
22:26 to despise and reject Jesus.
22:29 The Bible makes an interesting statement concerning this
22:33 and it says that He is like a root out of dry ground
22:37 and they would look at Jesus and say,
22:40 "You're worthless... you're like a root out of dry ground. "
22:42 They despised and rejected Him.
22:45 But the Bible tells us that Jesus remained faithful...
22:49 He was victorious.
22:51 Hebrews chapter 4 verse 15 says,
22:52 "For we do not have a High Priest
22:54 who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses,
22:57 but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. "
23:01 He was constantly attacking Jesus
23:04 but Jesus remained faithful and we through His...
23:08 through His victory... we can be victorious.
23:12 In fact, I'd like to read to you from Amazing Grace...
23:17 a devotional book by Ellen G. White,
23:19 it says, "Christ was tempted by Satan
23:22 in a hundred-fold severe a manner than was Adam
23:26 and under circumstances in every way more trying.
23:29 The deceiver presented himself as an angel of light
23:33 but Christ withstood his temptations. "
23:36 Jesus Christ withstood all his temptations.
23:39 You know, you see in the Bible that He went to the wilderness
23:42 and was tempted three times.
23:44 Jesus Christ was tempted far more than three times
23:47 because the devil knew... "If He falls just one time,
23:50 this earth is mine...
23:52 and the people in it are mine. "
23:54 So, he made a relentless attack on Jesus.
23:57 If he was wroth with the woman and went to make war with her,
24:00 he made a war on Jesus
24:01 unlike any other human being has faced,
24:04 but he was victorious
24:05 but I leave you with 1st Peter chapter 5 verse 8,
24:09 it says, "Be sober, be vigilant;
24:11 because your adversary the devil
24:13 walks about like a roaring lion,
24:15 seeking whom he may devour. "
24:17 His attack continues upon you and me
24:19 and we need to be sober and vigilant
24:21 trusting in Jesus
24:23 because He has already been victorious
24:25 and He gives us the power to be victorious
24:28 and we have His protection...
24:29 praise the Lord for that.
24:31 Jill: Amen, thank you so much Brother Johnny,
24:33 what an incredible study... Satan loses... Jesus wins.
24:37 I'm so grateful for that.
24:39 Don't go anywhere, we're going to take a break,
24:40 we'll be right back.

25:21 We kick it over to Shelley Quinn and Tuesday's Lesson.
25:24 Shelley: Thank you both for such a beautiful foundation
25:27 to this Lesson... I'm Shelley Quinn
25:29 and my Lesson is: Accepting Jesus' Victory.
25:35 I just want to take a second.
25:36 God does not give us prophecy to scare us.
25:42 The revelation means apocalypse.
25:46 It's the unveiling in Rome... Romans...
25:49 Revelation 1:1 begins saying,
25:52 "This is the Revelation of Jesus Christ. "
25:55 It is Christ revealed.
25:58 The whole book is about Jesus
26:00 and verse 3 says, "Blessed is he who reads
26:05 and keeps the things which are written in this book. "
26:09 Let's back up from Revelation 12
26:13 to Revelation 5.
26:15 I just want to say this.
26:17 In Revelation 5:6,
26:19 John hears an announcement in heaven
26:22 and he hears about the lion of the tribe of Judah
26:28 who had prevailed... who had conquered
26:31 and who was the only One
26:34 to... that was worthy to open this scroll
26:38 that had seven seals on it
26:40 and that's an important scroll.
26:44 He now gazes in prophetic vision
26:47 and he sees a Lamb as though He'd been slain.
26:53 In Revelation 13:8... you all know this,
26:57 it's my favorite Scripture...
26:58 is that, Jesus
27:01 is the Lamb who was slain
27:04 before the foundation of the earth.
27:06 God always had a plan
27:09 that one of them would come down
27:12 and become the person of Jesus Christ the Messiah...
27:17 the Christ
27:19 and His victory over evil forces
27:22 was conquered through love...
27:25 not through military might.
27:28 So, here's this Lion of the Tribe of Judah
27:32 now pictured as this little spotless Lamb.
27:36 I want to read what Mark Finley wrote in this paragraph.
27:40 He says, "As depicted in the Bible,
27:44 Jesus has never lost a battle with Satan.
27:47 He is the mighty conqueror,
27:50 the victor over the powers of evil. "
27:54 The one who came from heaven to become the Son of Man
27:58 to become the covenant Son of God
28:01 who was perfectly human and perfectly God.
28:05 But he said,
28:06 "It is one thing to believe that Jesus was victorious
28:10 over the temptations of Satan.
28:12 It's quite another thing to believe
28:15 that Christ's victory is ours as well. "
28:19 Let me read to you from Revelation 12 and verse 10,
28:24 this is a great Scripture
28:26 and this is John... he's still in prophetic vision,
28:29 he says, "Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven,
28:33 'Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God,
28:37 and the power of His Christ have come,
28:42 for the accuser of our brethren,
28:46 who accused them before God day and night,
28:49 has been cast down. "
28:51 Now, this is a time reference...
28:55 a focus on time
28:56 and it's focused on the cross.
29:00 Heaven is rejoicing.
29:02 They have seen God's self-sacrificing love
29:06 as He came down to become the person of Jesus Christ
29:10 to defeat the devil
29:12 and assure of his coming destruction.
29:17 The accuser of the brethren by the way, is Satan.
29:20 He is the one that's accusing day and night
29:24 but his character was revealed
29:28 just by the complete juxtaposition
29:33 of who he was and who Jesus was at the cross.
29:37 Colossians 2:14... beautiful verse.
29:40 But it says, Jesus made a public spectacle
29:45 of Satan and his unholy alliance of fallen angels...
29:50 those demons...
29:51 He's triumphing over them in it.
29:55 So, Jesus wiped out the devil's accusations of our sins,
29:59 nailed them to the cross...
30:01 disarmed Satan and the principalities
30:03 and powers of darkness.
30:05 Once again, Mark Finley says,
30:07 "When we accept by faith what Christ has done for us,
30:11 our debt is canceled.
30:14 We stand perfect in the sight of God.
30:16 Our sins are forgiven and the accuser of our brethren
30:21 has been cast down. "
30:22 We are redeemed, victorious and saved
30:27 not because of our own merits
30:30 but because Christ was victorious in our behalf.
30:35 He prevailed.
30:36 He won the battle between good and evil
30:40 and His victory can be ours.
30:43 His victory can be yours.
30:46 Did you know... we don't need to run around in frustrated defeat,
30:50 Psalm 129 verse 4 says,
30:54 "God is righteous;
30:55 He has cut in pieces the cords of the wicked. "
31:00 Whatever is binding you... claim that.
31:02 You just say, "Lord, cut me free from the cord of the wicked
31:07 that binds me. "
31:08 Here's another promise of God's to claim.
31:10 Romans 8:37... I love this,
31:13 Paul said, "Yet in all of these things
31:16 whatever is going on in the world...
31:18 we are more than conquerors
31:21 through Him who loved us. "
31:24 Through Jesus Christ, we can be more than conquerors.
31:28 In the original Greek it means to over-conquer...
31:32 to triumph completely
31:34 and the battle against good and evil
31:38 is going to rage until Christ returns.
31:41 But we can overcome sin in our personal lives right now.
31:45 We can have the assurance of victory in Christ.
31:49 Here is a beautiful promise.
31:52 Revelation 12:11,
31:54 I love this one. Panel: Hmmm... hmmm...
31:57 "They overcame him... " Satan and his unholy alliance...
32:01 "by the blood of the Lamb... "
32:04 and... and that's Hebrews 13:20.
32:06 It says, "Jesus' blood is the blood
32:09 of the everlasting covenant... "
32:11 the covenant of righteousness by faith.
32:14 "They overcame by the blood of the Lamb
32:16 and by the word of their testimony. "
32:19 Oh, let the word that comes out of your mouth
32:23 match God's Scriptures.
32:25 Speak God's word over your life.
32:27 "And they did not love their lives to death. "
32:31 Because of Christ's blood shed on Calvary's cross,
32:34 whoever comes and accepts Him as Lord and Savior.
32:38 When we confess God's promises over our life,
32:41 His promises will... His word will not return void
32:44 but He will accomplish...
32:46 you can say, "O Lord... " 2nd Corinthians 5:17 says,
32:49 "I am a new creature in Christ.
32:51 Everything about me is new, praise You, Jesus. "
32:55 You can say, 2nd Corinthians 5:21 says,
32:58 "Jesus became sin for me...
33:00 He who knew no sin became sin
33:03 that I might become
33:04 the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus... hallelujah. "
33:07 Philippians 1:6 says,
33:09 "you will complete the good work that you began in Me... "
33:11 because Philippians 2:13, Lord, says
33:14 that You work in me to will and to do your purpose.
33:17 Oh, you can get so excited
33:19 when you recognize who you are in Christ.
33:23 Lomacang: That's right.
33:25 Shelley: And the Word tells you who you are.
33:26 Let that be the word of your testimony.
33:29 You know, Christ made seven promises,
33:32 let me go through them quickly
33:33 about... to the churches about overcoming by His power.
33:38 Revelation 2:7 to Ephesus,
33:40 "To him who overcomes
33:42 I will give to eat from the tree of life,
33:44 which is in the midst of the Paradise of God. "
33:48 Revelation 2:11 to the church of Smyrna,
33:51 "He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death. "
33:54 Revelation 2:17 to Pergamos,
33:57 "To him who overcomes
33:58 I will give some of the hidden manna to eat.
34:01 And I will give him a white stone,
34:02 and on the stone a new name
34:04 written which no one knows except him who receives it. "
34:08 Revelation 2:26 to the corrupt church of Thyatira,
34:14 He said, "He who overcomes, and keeps my works unto the end,
34:18 to him, I will give power over the nations. "
34:20 Revelation 3:5 to the church of Sardis,
34:23 He said, "He who overcomes
34:25 will be clothed in white garments,
34:28 and I will not blot out his name
34:31 from the Book of Life;
34:33 but I will confess his name
34:35 before My Father and before the angels. "
34:38 Revelation 3:12 to the faithful church of Philadelphia,
34:42 "He who overcomes,
34:43 I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God,
34:47 he shall go out no more.
34:48 I will write on him the name of My God
34:51 and the name of the city of My God,
34:54 the New Jerusalem,
34:55 which comes down out of heaven from My God.
34:58 And I will write on him My new name. "
35:02 Revelation 3:21 to the church of Laodicea,
35:07 "To him who overcomes
35:08 I will grant to sit with Me on My throne... "
35:14 Accept His victory...
35:16 be an overcomer...
35:18 claim Revelation 21:7,
35:20 "He who overcomes shall inherit all things,
35:24 and I will be his God
35:27 and he will be My son. "
35:29 Panel: Amen.
35:30 Lomacang: Thank you, Shelley, I appreciate that...
35:32 thank you, John... thank you, Jill.
35:33 and Revelation 12:6 and Revelation 12 verses 14 to 16
35:36 are the two comparisons that Elder Finley asked us to look at
35:40 so, let's look at that together
35:41 starting in Revelation 12 and verse 6,
35:43 we read about this controversy,
35:46 "Then the woman fled into the wilderness,
35:48 where she has a place prepared by God,
35:51 that they should feed her there
35:52 one thousand two hundred and sixty days. "
35:54 So, the Lord didn't say, "Find a place for yourself... "
35:59 that place that God sustains His people
36:02 was prepared by Him
36:04 and you look... you study the history of
36:06 what happened during the Dark Ages...
36:07 what happened during the persecutions in Europe,
36:10 many literally hid into the dens and the rocks of the mountains
36:13 to be preserved from the persecuting power of Rome.
36:16 It became a very monolithically power
36:20 and sought in so many ways to wipe out the veracity
36:23 and the... and the validity of God's Word,
36:26 and unfortunately,
36:27 more than 50 million Christians lost their lives.
36:29 Those who were sincere and held on to the truth...
36:32 the persecuting power of the church
36:34 led by the powers of Rome...
36:36 led by the political-religio powers,
36:38 persecuted God's people
36:40 but did the truth get corrupted?
36:42 The truth never gets corrupted...
36:43 the people got corrupted
36:45 and so, we find in Revelation 12 verses 14 to 16,
36:48 "But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle,
36:51 that she might fly into the wilderness to her place,
36:53 where she is nourished for a time times and half a time,
36:56 from the presence of the serpent. "
36:58 So, you see, once again the duration of the time period
37:01 in the wilderness is mentioned there...
37:02 1260 years... she's there
37:05 prophetically you find Numbers 14:34,
37:08 and Ezekiel 4 verse 6 gives us the day-for-the-year principle.
37:12 You can check that yourself.
37:13 But from 538 to 1798 began a dark period
37:17 known as the Dark Ages where the truth...
37:20 people didn't own Bibles...
37:22 the Church of Rome confiscated the Bibles...
37:25 the Bishops and the Popes had the Bibles
37:27 and in some sense chained to the altars of the Cathedrals.
37:30 So, they had to believe what they were taught by the church
37:33 and what happened to the doctrines that were pure?
37:35 They got corrupted.
37:36 The Bible talks about that, it says,
37:37 there are those holding on...
37:39 you have a very few things left but hold on
37:41 don't let it go
37:43 and then it talked about one of the churches...
37:44 you are existing where Satan's seed is
37:47 but you've been faithful
37:48 and you have the flame that is about to die
37:50 but don't, you know, allow it to die.
37:52 God preserved His people during that time.
37:54 But something happened during that time.
37:56 Let's take a peek very carefully at verse 15,
37:59 "So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth
38:02 like a flood after the woman,
38:04 that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood.
38:06 But the earth helped the woman,
38:08 and the earth opened its mouth
38:09 and swallowed up the flood
38:11 which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. "
38:13 Let's talk about the flood for a moment.
38:14 The flood is synonymous to the counter-reformation.
38:19 You know, Martin Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, Huss, Jerome, Wycliffe,
38:22 these were men that came out of the corrupt movement of Rome.
38:25 Martin Luther... very prominent...
38:27 he was once a very significant part of the church of Rome
38:30 but seeing the just shall live by faith,
38:32 he came out of that
38:34 and became a proponent of the truth of God's Word.
38:36 The just shall live by faith
38:37 not by the dogmas of the authority of the Roman church.
38:40 And others joined him in that Movement
38:42 to restore one tenet of truth after the other.
38:46 But what did Satan's tactic become?
38:48 Wash it away...
38:50 by how? The Counter-Reformation.
38:51 Art and Literature and Science and Math
38:54 dominated Europe.
38:56 Even the Cathedrals became a place where the light show
38:58 of the stained glass
39:00 attracted the people to come into the Cathedrals
39:03 where they were corrupted by the doctrines of the church
39:05 being taught to them.
39:06 But God's church continued to prevail.
39:08 The truth of God never got wiped out.
39:11 The people got corrupted but not the truth of God
39:14 and that's why the Bible says,
39:16 "the earth opened its mouth and helped the woman. "
39:18 Now, in a future Lesson, we're going to deal with the earth...
39:20 that's Revelation chapter 13.
39:22 The second part talks about
39:23 the beast rising up out of the earth.
39:25 The earth that helped the woman was
39:27 when God sent the church to America...
39:29 that's the earth... the earth beast...
39:31 it opened its mouth to help the woman
39:33 and so, in the context of today
39:35 and the history of America,
39:37 we became a Protestant nation.
39:39 Why Protestant?
39:40 Protesting the dogmas...
39:42 the false teaches of the power of Rome.
39:44 This nation is a Protestant nation.
39:47 But it's metamorphasizing from Protestant to Evangelical
39:50 and even those who began on the pure foundation of God's Word,
39:54 are once again slowly being corrupted.
39:57 You see the Sabbath
39:58 corrupted in America.
40:00 You see the truth about death...
40:01 corrupted in America.
40:02 Where did it start?
40:04 In the bowels of the church of Rome
40:05 and found its way into the pulpits of America.
40:07 So, so much is being destroyed today
40:09 but what about God's truth?
40:11 The truth has never been destroyed
40:13 but the people's minds have been corrupted.
40:15 And so, we see in Revelation 17 verse 3,
40:18 just a picture... very carefully...
40:19 look at that... the Bible says,
40:21 "So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness.
40:23 And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet-colored beast
40:26 which was full of names of blasphemy,
40:27 having seven heads and ten horns. "
40:29 So, what you see John's now looking at...
40:32 he sees the woman going to the wilderness...
40:34 he sees the woman as she became in the wilderness
40:36 but let me make a very important point here.
40:39 You don't see God's truth being destroyed...
40:42 you see the people's hearts being corrupted.
40:45 But was there always a true and a false?
40:48 Yes...
40:49 even before they went in
40:50 there was always a true and a false.
40:52 God preserved the true...
40:53 those allegiant to the unwavering Word of God...
40:56 those who only understood what they understood
40:59 and remained loyal all the way through.
41:00 So, when they came out,
41:02 there was not a new church and a new woman,
41:05 that woman always existed...
41:07 the true versus the false
41:09 and today, we have that same picture...
41:10 the true versus the false.
41:12 The false is called: The woman on the scarlet-colored beast.
41:15 The true is called: The Remnant...
41:17 the one whom the dragon seeks to continue to persecute
41:21 and that's why the remnant are now described in the context.
41:26 I say it with humility... the Advent message...
41:28 the Thee Angels' Messages.
41:30 Where else is that being proclaimed
41:32 other than in the Advent Movement.
41:34 God used Reformers during the 1800s.
41:37 William Miller... did he understand what we understand today?
41:40 No... but what he understood, he proclaimed
41:42 and he held to it.
41:43 and so, you see, all of the trajectory
41:47 of the truth coming back into its pure light.
41:50 If it wasn't pure, let me make that...
41:52 if it wasn't pure today,
41:54 the dragon would not be attacking the woman.
41:57 So, because it remains pure,
41:59 he seeks to establish his own Movement...
42:02 the woman on the scarlet-colored beast.
42:04 Woman... a corrupt Movement...
42:07 the woman that stands with the stars and the crown
42:11 and the light of God... the pure woman.
42:13 Today there's an adversarial relationship
42:15 between those who remain pure
42:17 and those who still hold to that which is corrupt.
42:21 How is it going to happen?
42:23 In the end, the truth will triumph
42:25 and the corrupt will cease.
42:27 But let me make a very important point
42:28 and I cite Shelley and Ryan in this particular...
42:31 where are God's people during this time?
42:33 John 10:16, "Other sheep I have that are not of this fold... "
42:37 What fold? The remnant fold.
42:39 What fold? The Commandment-keeping fold.
42:41 Them also I must bring...
42:42 did the God... did the Lord bring you?
42:43 Shelley: Nodding yes.
42:45 Lomacang: Did the Lord bring you? Ryan: Absolutely.
42:46 Lomacang: So, God's people
42:47 are still in these corrupt Movements
42:49 but sooner or later, Revelation 18 says,
42:51 "The voice of the bride and bridegroom
42:53 will no longer be heard in her. "
42:55 Before that time comes, what's the message?
42:58 "Come out of her My people. "
42:59 Come out of who?
43:00 Not out of the Remnant...
43:02 but come out of the corrupt woman
43:03 into the pure and unadulterated truth.
43:06 Well, we praise God for that.
43:08 So, here are five takeaways of what the wilderness means
43:11 in the Scriptural context.
43:13 1. The Wilderness represents
43:15 the journey between Egypt and Canaan.
43:17 When the Israelites came out of Egypt,
43:19 they were on their way to Canaan
43:20 but where do they travel?
43:22 In the wilderness.
43:23 Exodus 16 verse 1,
43:24 "And they journeyed from Elim,
43:26 and all the congregation of the children of Israel
43:27 came to the Wilderness of Sin... "
43:29 Where are we today?
43:30 In the Wilderness of Sin
43:32 on our way to heavenly Canaan.
43:34 Number 2:
43:36 The Wilderness represents the process
43:38 of leaving the past behind.
43:39 Philippians chapter 3
43:41 and I'll just give you the latter part of the verse.
43:42 It says... verse 13...
43:45 "Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended;
43:48 but one thing I do,
43:49 forgetting those things which are behind... "
43:51 Did you forget the doubters behind you?
43:53 Did you forget the doubters behind you...
43:55 yes... right...
43:56 "Pressing toward the prize of the upward call
43:59 of God in Christ Jesus. "
44:00 The "wilderness" represents the process
44:02 of leaving the past errors behind
44:04 and accepting the truth.
44:05 Number 3:
44:07 The wilderness represents a place of refinement.
44:09 Numbers 32 and verse 13,
44:10 "So the LORD's anger was aroused against Israel,
44:13 and He made them wander in the wilderness for forty years,
44:17 until all the generation
44:18 that had done evil in the sight of the Lord was gone. "
44:21 When we get to heavenly Canaan,
44:23 all the evil that is being done today...
44:25 corrupted doctrines will be gone.
44:27 Amen for that. Panel: Hmmm... hmmm...
44:28 Lomacang: And so, we are in the wilderness still
44:31 until we enter the heavenly Canaan.
44:33 Number 4:
44:35 The wilderness represents
44:36 a place of total dependence on God.
44:38 Revelation 12:6,
44:39 "Then the woman fled into the wilderness,
44:41 where she has a place prepared by God,
44:43 they He should feed her there... "
44:45 feed her what?
44:46 The bread of life... that's who Jesus is.
44:48 Jesus is still feeding the woman today
44:51 from the unadulterated bread of life.
44:53 And finally, the woman represents
44:56 the place where God removes the distractions
44:58 to make room for the worship of the true.
45:01 Exodus 7 verse 16,
45:02 "And you shall say to him... " Moses to Pharaoh,
45:05 "The LORD God of the Hebrews has sent me to you,
45:08 saying, 'Let My people go,
45:09 that they may serve Me in the wilderness. '"
45:11 Here's my point,
45:13 we got to serve God today in this wilderness setting of sin.
45:15 We got to serve God today in the...
45:17 in the truth of God's Word in this wilderness
45:20 until the day that we get into the heavenly Canaan.
45:22 Don't give up the truth in the wilderness
45:24 embrace it until the day that error is completely eradicated
45:28 and what's the good news? Hebrews 13 verse 5,
45:31 "I will never leave you or forsake you. "
45:33 In the wilderness, God is still with you.
45:36 Panel: Amen...
45:37 Ryan: Amen, praise the Lord, thank you so much, Pastor John.
45:40 I'm Ryan Day and I have Thursday's Lesson entitled:
45:43 God's End-time Remnant.
45:44 We going to a little bit more work
45:46 based on what Pastor John Lomacang just presented,
45:48 We're going to go a little deeper
45:50 and do some identification... some further clarification
45:53 and identification on who this end-time remnant is.
45:57 This is the end... this is God's church...
45:59 this is God's people...
46:00 we're going to make sure we're a part
46:01 of that beautiful movement.
46:03 You know, as it's been clearly presented here,
46:05 the devil... like a flood...
46:06 he pours out his wrath and his anger upon this woman
46:09 trying to snuff out... trying to destroy
46:11 God's true remnant people
46:13 who are all about the truth.
46:14 Was he successful? No.
46:16 Was he able to destroy all of them? No.
46:18 Even though it's very clear that he was able to
46:19 with that flood take out many numbers.
46:21 More than 50 million people lost their life
46:24 because of their faith...
46:26 because of the truth that they believed.
46:27 But out of this comes a remnant
46:29 and, of course, do you think the devil was going to look at
46:31 his work during the Dark Ages and go, "Oh, I failed...
46:34 there is some still left over,
46:35 maybe I should just hang my hat up...
46:36 maybe I should just hang it all up
46:38 and just retire. "
46:39 No, no, no, no, no... he's on a suicide mission
46:40 and he's going to go and take as many people as possible
46:43 so he turns his attention
46:44 to this little Remnant that's leftover who's hanging on
46:47 and holding on strong to the truth of God's Word.
46:50 We read there as it has been read a couple of times already,
46:52 but we'll read it again in Revelation chapter 12 verse 17,
46:55 notice what it says,
46:57 It says, "And the dragon was enraged"
46:59 he's mad... he's angry...
47:00 he's wroth... he's upset...
47:02 he is just... just on fire
47:04 about this woman
47:05 and it says,
47:06 "He went to make war with the rest of her offspring... "
47:08 that's what the New King James Version says...
47:10 King James Version... I like it...
47:12 it says, "The Remnant of her seed"
47:15 and then it describes this Remnant...
47:17 "who keep the commandments of God,
47:18 and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. "
47:21 Now, there are many, many identifications,
47:24 in fact, I made a list years ago.
47:26 There are many, many Biblical identifications
47:28 that we can bring up that just really...
47:30 just dials in who this Remnant is
47:33 but for the sake of time,
47:34 I'm going to share seven very clear identifications with you
47:38 and we're going to look and back this up by Scripture
47:40 because the Bible is ultimately clear
47:42 as to who God's people are
47:44 and we need not be confused on it.
47:45 The first one I just want to bring up
47:47 is that God's Remnant is the minority
47:50 that clings to the truth.
47:51 Most of the time,
47:52 it's the minority that clings to the truth
47:54 unlike the majority
47:55 who compromises with error in the world.
47:57 Matthew chapter 7 verse 13 and 14,
47:59 what does Jesus say on the great sermon on the mount?
48:02 He says, "Enter ye by the narrow gate:
48:05 for wide is the gate, and broad is the way,
48:07 that leads to destruction,
48:08 and there are many who go in by it... "
48:11 In other words, the majority...
48:14 the vast majority are going to be corrupted...
48:16 they're going to fall by the way of error,
48:18 they take in the world...
48:19 they're going to be corrupted by the world
48:21 and false doctrine
48:22 but verse 14 says,
48:23 "Because narrow is the gate,
48:25 and difficult is the way,
48:26 which leads to life,
48:27 and there are few who find it. "
48:29 The minority... this is the case...
48:31 this is not our Mathematics on our own here
48:33 that we're just creating,
48:35 this is a Biblical principle
48:37 that's very clearly established all throughout the Bible.
48:38 Even Jesus says in Luke chapter 12 verse 32,
48:40 what does He says in describing His church?
48:43 He says, "Do not fear, little flock... "
48:45 I had to bring that up...
48:47 "Do not fear, little flock;
48:48 for it is your Father's good pleasure
48:50 to give you the kingdom. "
48:51 So, we're talking about a minority in most cases.
48:54 Also, look at the timeframe here...
48:55 after this Dark Ages,
48:57 we read this in Revelation chapter 12 verse 6,
48:59 Pastor read this...
49:01 "woman fled into the wilderness,
49:02 where she had a place prepared by God,
49:04 that they should feed her there
49:05 one thousand two hundred and sixty days. "
49:07 We even see it come up again
49:08 in the latter verses of this chapter
49:10 where it talks about the time, times and half a time,
49:12 this is talking about the 1260-year time period
49:17 of persecution
49:18 in which the corrupt is persecuting God's people.
49:21 The true woman... the woman who is hanging on to God's truth
49:25 and we're seeing here very clearly
49:26 that this Remnant... again we're identifying the Remnant
49:30 coming out of that persecution time period.
49:32 This is post-1798.
49:35 If you're looking for God's remnant people
49:36 and you're looking for a Movement
49:38 that is hanging on to the truth of God's Word
49:40 that's grounded in the Rock of Jesus Christ
49:42 and His Word and His truth
49:44 and you need to be looking for a Movement of people
49:46 who post 1798...
49:48 now again, I just want to re-identify or re-clarify
49:51 that God's people has always been...
49:52 God has always had a people that has held on to the truth
49:55 but we're looking at... from a prophetic standpoint
49:58 Revelation chapter 12... end times
50:00 prior to the second coming of Jesus,
50:03 God has a remnant that's coming out of this time of persecution,
50:06 this 1260-year time period of persecution
50:10 and obviously, this is looking at the time period
50:13 of 1798 and afterward.
50:15 Revelation chapter 12 verses... 13:5 to 7 it says,
50:18 "And he was given a mouth speaking great things
50:20 and blasphemies;
50:22 and he was given authority to continue
50:23 forty-two months. "
50:24 That's speaking of the corrupt System.
50:26 Of course, we know that God's true System
50:28 was in that time period
50:30 but comes out as a Remnant post 1798.
50:33 Our third identification here is that God's Remnant people
50:36 will be apostolic in belief and mission.
50:38 Now, let me clarify that
50:40 because when you use the word "Apostolic"
50:41 people think of Pentecostals
50:43 or the Charismatic Pentecostal Movement
50:45 but the word "Apostolic" simply points us back
50:48 to the time of the early first-century church
50:50 when Christ has been crucified
50:51 and, of course, Peter and John and the disciples...
50:54 the apostles are now raising up the truth...
50:56 they're raising up God's... God's church
50:58 and, of course, from the time that Christ was crucified
51:00 until the end of the first century A.D.,
51:03 the church just kept growing and growing and growing, growing
51:05 to over a million people in that very short...
51:08 you know, what it was... probably 69-year time period,
51:11 it was a powerful Movement but notice this,
51:14 they were all united in belief and mission
51:16 so, they were Apostolic in the sense of...
51:18 they were a part of the original...
51:20 that Christ and led out and created in the beginning...
51:23 in the first century A.D.
51:24 and I just bring up a few texts here
51:26 Jesus says in Matthew 28 verses 19 and 20,
51:29 "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
51:32 baptizing them in the name of the Father
51:34 and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
51:36 teaching them to observe all things
51:38 that I have commanded you. "
51:39 Notice, this is the truth of Christ...
51:41 this is the Word of Christ.
51:43 If we're going to be a part of God's true Remnant Movement,
51:45 we need to make sure we're teaching what Jesus taught.
51:48 We need to make sure we're upholding what Jesus upheld...
51:50 what Jesus represented...
51:52 what Jesus preached.
51:53 and that's what God's church will do.
51:54 And, of course, we also read in Romans Chapter 1
51:57 verses 16 and 17,
51:58 again this Apostolic Age of the apostles,
52:01 Paul here is... is... is preaching here
52:03 or writing and he says,
52:05 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,
52:07 for it is the power of God to salvation
52:09 for everyone who believes,
52:10 the Jew first and then the Greek.
52:12 For it is the righteousness of God
52:14 revealed from faith to faith... "
52:16 and, of course, it says,
52:17 "The just shall live by faith. "
52:18 So, we are to preach that salvation comes by...
52:22 obviously, we're saved by grace through faith alone,
52:24 not of works
52:26 as Ephesians Chapter 2 brings out very clearly
52:28 but along with that,
52:29 the apostles made it very clear that while they knew
52:31 they were proclaiming a message and a mission
52:33 in which people are saved by grace through faith,
52:35 Acts chapter 5 verse 29, Peter makes it very clear,
52:38 along with all of the other apostles,
52:40 when they were asked what shall they do...
52:41 he says, "We ought to obey God rather than man. "
52:44 This is an obedient people which brings me to my
52:46 Number 4 identification,
52:48 we see it right there in Revelation chapter 12 verse 17,
52:52 when it says... Revelation 12 verse 17,
52:54 that these people are those who keep the commandments of God,
52:58 this is a commandment-keeping people...
53:00 they understand that according to Ecclesiastes chapter 12
53:03 and verse 13 that the whole conclusion of the matter
53:06 is that we fear God and keep His commandments...
53:09 not because we think it saves us...
53:10 not because we think our salvation comes
53:12 by any commandments
53:14 but only by Jesus Christ Himself
53:16 but because we have been saved...
53:17 because we are in a saving relationship with Him,
53:20 the result of that is a people who desire to worship God fully,
53:24 to represent Him fully
53:26 and to obey Him.
53:27 That's why Jesus said, "If you love Me,
53:28 keep My commandments... " in John chapter 14 verse 15.
53:32 There are many other texts that I want to read on this
53:35 but, you know, if you read through the Bible
53:37 and we're going to read Revelation 14 verse 12
53:39 which talks about the patience of the saints...
53:41 those who keep the commandments of God
53:43 and have the faith of Jesus.
53:45 God's end-time remnant people.
53:47 You can't separate it from the truth
53:49 that God's end-time remnant people
53:51 are a commandment-keeping people.
53:53 Panel Amen.
53:54 Ryan: And we see there in Revelation 22
53:56 that those who inherit the new kingdom...
53:57 those who get to eat from the Tree of Life
53:59 are those who do His commandments.
54:00 Our fifth identification
54:02 is that they have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
54:04 We see there in
54:06 that not only do they keep the commandments of God
54:08 but they have the testimony of Jesus
54:10 and in Revelation 19 verse 10,
54:12 it clarifies for us a little further
54:15 what that testimony of Jesus Christ is.
54:17 As it tells us there in the latter part of verse 10
54:20 of Revelation 19,
54:21 "For the testimony of Jesus is is the spirit of prophecy. "
54:25 And if you look at the parallel verse of that
54:27 in Revelation 22 verse 9,
54:29 it highlights for us word for word...
54:30 almost the exact same words you find in Revelation 19
54:34 but the parallel that we see
54:35 are of the testimony of Jesus Christ
54:37 and the spirit of prophecy is equivalent to the prophets.
54:40 God gives His message...
54:42 He gives His testimony to the prophets.
54:44 He speaks through His prophets,
54:45 He brings about His last-day remnant truth
54:48 through His prophets
54:50 and if we have the gift of prophecy,
54:52 then we will be surrendered
54:53 and we will heed the message from His prophets
54:56 as found in prophecy and by the Holy Spirit.
54:58 The word "testimony" or testify
55:00 is used eight times in the Book of Revelation
55:02 and it always refers to the revelation given by God
55:04 to His prophets.
55:06 Our sixth identification is that God's people proclaim
55:08 and helps people prepare for the second advent...
55:11 that is the second coming of Jesus.
55:13 We see right there Matthew 25,
55:14 it says, "Behold the Bridegroom is coming;
55:17 go ye out to meet Him. "
55:18 This is the message of God's people.
55:20 We understand it...
55:22 we recognize and discerning the times...
55:23 we're out there preaching of gospel
55:25 according to Acts Chapter 1 verse 8,
55:27 when we receive the Holy Spirit,
55:29 we go out and we become a witness for Him
55:31 to proclaim the goodness...
55:32 the good works of God
55:34 and, of course, His second coming
55:35 and the last but not least our seventh and final point,
55:38 is that God's true Remnant church...
55:40 they're unpopular and they're persecuted.
55:42 We see there in Revelation 12:17,
55:44 that he is going to make war with this woman...
55:47 with the remnant of her offspring
55:49 and it goes on to say here in Matthew chapter 24 verse 9
55:52 that they will deliver you up...
55:54 they will, obviously, kill you
55:55 and you will be hated by all nations
55:57 for my namesake Jesus said.
55:58 And, of course, Paul writes in 2nd Timothy 3:12,
56:01 that the Godly... all those who live Godly
56:03 in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
56:05 This is the identification of God's remnant church.
56:07 Are you a part of God's remnant church?
56:09 Put that to some thought.
56:11 Jill: Amen, thank you all so much...
56:13 Ryan and Pastor John and Shelley
56:15 and Pastor Johnny, thank you.
56:17 We're just getting started...
56:18 I'm so excited about this Lesson...
56:21 I'll give you all a moment for final thoughts.
56:23 Dinzey: I would like to point out... Jude chapter 1
56:25 because the devil is as a roaring lion
56:28 seeking whom he may devour...
56:29 it says here in verses 24 and 25,
56:31 "Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling,
56:34 and to present you faultless
56:35 before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
56:39 to God our Savior, who alone is wise,
56:41 be glory and majesty, dominion and power,
56:43 both now and forever, amen. "
56:45 Shelley: Thank you, I'm just...
56:48 I was taking notes, Ryan, that was good.
56:49 Jesus was victorious...
56:52 Jesus is victorious
56:54 and that victory can be yours if you are in Christ,
56:58 Romans 8:37 says, "In all these things,
57:01 we are more than conquerors
57:03 through Him who loved us. "
57:05 Lomacang: Amen
57:06 and during this time, the woman in the wilderness...
57:09 we are in the wilderness still
57:10 but what sustained her? God fed her.
57:13 Here is your safety,
57:14 if you feed on God's Word, John 6:48,
57:17 you will get to know who the Bread of Life truly is...
57:20 feed on God's Word
57:21 and Christ will become real to you.
57:23 Ryan: Amen, God's remnant people will proclaim His second advent.
57:26 We see it there in 1st Thessalonians 4
57:28 when it talks about Christ's coming
57:30 but in verse 18 in 1st Thessalonians 4, he says,
57:32 "Therefore comfort one another with these words. "
57:35 We should be proclaiming those words
57:37 to each and every one.
57:38 Jill: Amen, what an incredible lesson!
57:40 What a start to: Three Cosmic Messages...
57:43 the incredible last-day message
57:45 of the three angels of Revelation chapter 14.
57:48 Jesus wins... Satan loses.
57:51 I'm so grateful that Jesus is victorious.
57:54 Make sure you join us next week...
57:57 we're just getting started.
57:58 Next week... Lesson 2: A Moment of Destiny.
