00:35 what I consider the most important message
00:38 of the time of the end.
00:39 Don't go away, we'll be right back.
00:41 Music...
01:13 Lomacang: Hello and welcome to 3ABN Sabbath School,
01:15 I am John Lomacang.
01:16 Thank you so much for taking the time to join us.
01:18 Every week, we appreciate you tuning in to
01:21 listen to what God has to say through us
01:24 and we take that humbly with great responsibility.
01:26 We hope that we're leading you and guiding you
01:28 to know Christ better
01:30 and to give your life to Him as your Savior.
01:32 We have a wonderful Panel today...
01:33 some of them you know and some of them are new.
01:36 But right to my immediate left is
01:37 Jill Morikone, Vice President of 3ABN.
01:39 Good to have you here, Jill.
01:41 Thank you Pastor John, glad to be here
01:42 and my title for Monday
01:44 is the same as the overall title of the Lesson:
01:46 The "Everlasting" Gospel.
01:47 Lomacang: Praise God and the lady from Texas,
01:50 Shelley Quinn. how are you?
01:52 Shelley: I'm here... from Texas, I have Tuesday's Lesson:
01:55 A Story of Grace.
01:57 Lomacang: Okay, and a face that may be new
01:59 but some of you will get to know him more,
02:02 Daniel Perrin, he's in our Pastoral Department
02:04 taught for many years... Bible...
02:05 good to have you here today.
02:07 Perrin: Thank you Pastor John, I have Wednesday's Lesson
02:10 giving us the scope of what we're studying:
02:12 Into All the World.
02:13 Lomacang: And on my other bookend,
02:15 the other son of thunder,
02:17 Pastor James Rafferty, good to see you James.
02:19 Rafferty: Good to be here, John, I have Thursday's Lesson
02:21 and it is entitled: A Mission Movement.
02:24 Lomacang: Okay, that's right, praise the Lord for that.
02:26 Well, why don't you have our opening prayer
02:27 for us today, James.
02:29 Rafferty: All right, let's pray.
02:30 "Father, we want to thank You so much
02:31 for this everlasting gospel message:
02:33 The Three Angels' Messages that's to go to all the world...
02:35 every nation, tongue and people,
02:37 no one being left out.
02:39 We thank You for the promise of Your Spirit to guide our hearts
02:42 and the hearts of our Viewers.
02:43 We pray that You will be with us
02:44 and that You will teach us and instruct us.
02:46 Comfort us... guide us into all truth...
02:48 we ask these things now in Jesus' name, amen. "
02:52 Panel: Amen.
02:53 Lomacang: Our Memory Text is Revelation 14 verse 6.
02:58 If you have your Bibles, turn there with us.
03:00 You know, when we talked about the Three Cosmic Messages,
03:04 that's just a portion... a slice of the message of Revelation.
03:09 Revelation is a book that is not a sealed book,
03:12 it's title even reminds you that it's not a sealed book...
03:15 the revelation...
03:17 but it's not a revelation of beasts
03:18 and falling kingdoms
03:21 and plagues...
03:22 although those components are contained in it,
03:26 it is a revelation of Jesus Christ.
03:29 That's why this message is so vitally important
03:32 and that's why this lesson is important...
03:34 the everlasting gospel.
03:36 You know, Revelation 13:8, "The Lamb slain... " Shelley...
03:40 Shelley: "from the foundation of the earth. "
03:42 Lomacang: That's right, Shelley loves that
03:44 and that's the fact... long before man fell into sin,
03:48 there was a plan in place to save humanity.
03:51 In the event that a wrong decision would be made
03:55 and God is never the kind
03:57 that wants to put a fire extinguisher in the building
03:59 after the fire starts,
04:00 if we can do that before the fire,
04:02 do you think that heaven could not think that ahead of us?
04:05 There was a plan in place to save humanity
04:07 in the event that a wrong decision would be made
04:11 and praise the Lord today,
04:12 the everlasting gospel says that regardless of who you are,
04:17 where you're from and what you've done,
04:19 nobody's going to be lost because they sinned,
04:22 but they will be lost because they did not repent
04:24 and were not converted and did not accept Jesus Christ.
04:27 So, let's look at that
04:29 in the context of Revelation 14 verse 6.
04:31 Beautiful...
04:32 "Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven,
04:38 having the everlasting gospel
04:40 to preach to those who dwell on the earth... "
04:45 notice the extent...
04:46 "to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people. "
04:50 Panel: Yes.
04:51 Lomacang: You know, when I worked on the message...
04:52 the book... The Three Angels' Messages and Summary,
04:54 one of the things I took on was to break down the components
04:58 of Revelation 14 verse 6,
04:59 "I saw another angel... "
05:01 Now, for those of you that have never read Revelation,
05:03 and I want to assume that somebody in the audience
05:06 probably were told, "Don't read Revelation,
05:08 it can't be understood. "
05:09 Well, that's not true.
05:10 Revelation is the last piece of this drama of sin
05:15 against salvation...
05:16 this drama against truth... against error
05:20 or light against darkness...
05:22 or darkness against light, I should say,
05:23 or... or Satan against Christ.
05:26 It is the final sentence
05:28 and the book is so very impertinent...
05:30 it's so pertinent... sorry...
05:32 is that it reminds us how the story is going to end.
05:36 But the beauty of the gospel is the Lord does not decide...
05:40 "Well, I just want to save a select group... "
05:42 No... we are reminded... "to every nation...
05:44 every kindred...
05:46 every tongue... every people.
05:48 because Romans 3 verse 23 says,
05:49 "For all have sinned and have fallen short
05:52 of the glory of God... "
05:53 and we know that the gospel communicated to us
05:57 is not one that's a unique gospel in that...
06:00 "Well... the Jews are saved and everybody else is lost. "
06:02 No...
06:04 if you are human, you are under the same curse.
06:06 "As in Adam, all die...
06:07 even so in Christ all shall be made alive. "
06:10 1st Corinthians 15 verse 22.
06:12 But the introduction that Pastor Finley put
06:15 and I appreciate it so much...
06:16 haven't you enjoyed Pastor Finley?
06:18 Panel: Hmmm... hmmm...
06:20 Lomacang: When you get to know him as a man of God,
06:21 he and his wife Teenie... you understand that
06:23 this is the result of many years of dedicated commitment
06:27 to the Word of God.
06:29 Listen carefully, he says,
06:30 "Throughout the centuries,
06:32 the chanting of the Shema... name of the prayer,
06:36 based on the Hebrew word 'to hear'
06:39 reminded the Jews of the spiritual vision
06:41 that united them as a people
06:43 and that strengthened their resolve
06:46 to maintain their unique identity
06:49 as worshipers of the one true God. "
06:51 Now, there were other nations surrounding the Jewish nation
06:54 but God had given them a specific function
06:56 to carry the gospel to everyone...
06:58 to all the nations...
06:59 as... let's go to Acts chapter 13,
07:01 let's look at that very quickly.
07:03 Acts chapter 13...
07:04 the Apostle Paul... Paul and Barnabas
07:07 in the city of Antioch,
07:08 reiterated the purpose for which the Lord had chosen
07:12 the Jewish nation.
07:13 Keep in mind... and I say this in the context,
07:15 the Ten Commandments are not just for the Jews
07:18 for all have sinned,
07:19 and so, a lot of people say
07:21 the Sabbath is just for the Jews...
07:22 no, all of us are under the condemnation of sin
07:24 therefore, all of us are called to be redeemed
07:27 and to keep the commandments of God.
07:28 Acts chapter... what did I say? Panel: 13.
07:31 Lomacang: Acts chapter 13,
07:32 look at verse 42
07:34 and let's start with verse 46
07:37 because that shortens it.
07:41 It says, "Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said,
07:43 'It was necessary that the word of God
07:46 should be spoken to you first... "
07:48 Panel: Hmmm... Lomacang: That was the purpose.
07:50 "But since you reject it,
07:52 and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life,
07:55 behold, we turn to the Gentiles. "
07:58 And so, in the context of the everlasting gospel,
08:02 God made the Jewish nation FedEx... UPS...
08:06 to get that gospel out to disseminate it to the world
08:10 but they thought themselves as...
08:11 we're the only ones that are worthy of it.
08:13 But that's not the case.
08:15 Listen to the continued introduction.
08:16 "For Seventh-day Adventists,
08:18 the three angels messages of Revelation 14
08:21 are our Shema... " our prayer language.
08:23 "They are our identifying statement of faith.
08:26 They define who we are as a people
08:29 and describe our mission to the world.
08:31 In short, our unique prophetic identity
08:34 is outlined in Revelation 14 verses 6 to 12... "
08:36 the three angels' messages... all three of them
08:38 and believe me, they are potent,
08:40 relevant and necessary to understand
08:42 in the closing hours of earth's history.
08:44 He says, "And it is here that we find our passion
08:48 to proclaim the gospel to the world. "
08:50 And then he introduces the Lesson,
08:52 "In this week's lesson, we will begin
08:55 a detailed study of Revelation 14 verses 6 to 12,
08:58 but will do so through the eyes of grace
09:01 as we listen to God speaking to our hearts. "
09:04 And Sunday... this is the introduction to Sunday,
09:07 "When most people think about
09:08 the Bible's last book, Revelation,
09:11 they do not think about God's grace.
09:13 When they consider God's last-day message,
09:16 their thoughts often turn immediately
09:18 to frightening beasts, mystic symbols,
09:20 and strange images.
09:22 The book of Revelation scares as many people as it reassures,
09:26 which is unfortunate
09:28 because it is indeed, saturated with grace
09:32 and filled with hope.
09:33 That is, even amid the scary beasts and warnings
09:37 of persecution and the hard times ahead,
09:40 God still gives us reasons to rejoice in His salvation. "
09:45 Amen. Panel: Amen.
09:46 Lomacang: Let's look at the first blessing of Revelation,
09:48 Revelation 1 verses 1 to 3, let's look at this.
09:51 The focal point is brought out right away.
09:53 Revelation 1 verses 1 to 3,
09:55 "The Revelation of Jesus Christ,
09:57 which God gave Him to show His servants...
10:00 to show to His servants...
10:01 things which must shortly take place.
10:04 And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John,
10:08 who bore witness to the word of God,
10:10 and to the testimony of Jesus Christ,
10:11 to all things that He saw... "
10:13 and look at the blessing... the first of seven...
10:16 "Blessed is he who reads
10:17 and those who hear the words of this prophecy,
10:19 and keep those things which are written in it;
10:21 for the time is at hand. "
10:23 So, when you look at the beauty of Revelation,
10:26 the blessing... the very first of seven blessings,
10:29 you know, we talked about seven churches... seven angels...
10:31 seven plagues...
10:32 seven spirits...
10:33 seven trumpets...
10:35 but there's a hidden component in Revelation
10:36 called the seven blessings
10:38 and this is the very first one.
10:39 You know, some of the other ones...
10:41 blessed is he that keepeth his garment.
10:43 That's another one of the seven blessings.
10:45 But, what's the question?
10:48 Here is what Pastor Finley poses to you as our audience:
10:51 How do these verses together
10:53 tell us about not just the book of Revelation
10:56 but about the "everlasting gospel," as well?
10:58 Here are my quick takeaways,
11:00 Revelation is all about Jesus.
11:02 Panel: Yes.
11:03 Lomacang: In it His message to His people
11:06 is especially applicable to to His church in the last days.
11:11 So, not only is the gospel to go to the whole world,
11:14 but the church is to proclaim that gospel to the whole world,
11:18 Matthew 24:14, "And this gospel of the kingdom"
11:21 what gospel?
11:23 The everlasting gospel.
11:24 What is that?
11:26 Ephesians 2 verses 8 and 9,
11:27 "For by grace are you saved through faith,
11:29 and that not of yourselves;
11:30 it is the gift of God,
11:32 not of works, lest anyone should boast. "
11:34 Now, let me make it very clear,
11:35 We're not saved by grace plus works...
11:38 we're saved by grace through faith for good works.
11:42 Works don't save us
11:43 but salvation without works is like James says,
11:46 "Faith without works is dead. "
11:48 The evidence of our salvation
11:49 is that we want to work for the Lord,
11:52 but don't put works before salvation...
11:54 the work of salvation is not carried out by Christ alone,
11:58 that's justification,
11:59 but in the sanctifying process, we must participate.
12:03 The Lord never forces us
12:05 to become what we do not desire to become.
12:08 The other part is: Revelation is a grace-filled message
12:11 of our end-time hope.
12:13 Through the book, Christ is described as the Lamb slain
12:16 and finally, a blessing is promised to those who read,
12:20 understand and act on the truth that is revealed in it.
12:23 Look at Revelation 1 verses 5 and 6,
12:25 "and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness... "
12:30 what kind of witness?
12:31 Panel: Faithful... Lomacang: Faithful witness,
12:32 "the firstborn from the dead... "
12:34 that is... the firstborn who conquered death.
12:37 Panel: Hmmm...
12:38 Lomacang: He's the one that conquered death...
12:40 "and the ruler over the kings of the earth.
12:42 To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins
12:45 in His own blood... "
12:46 and I love this...
12:48 "and has made us kings and priests
12:50 to His God and Father,
12:52 to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. "
12:55 So, let me summarize it again,
12:57 In Christ, we are forgiven.
12:59 That's the everlasting gospel.
13:01 Panel: That's right.
13:02 Lomacang: Grace pardons our past
13:04 and gives us strength for the process of sanctification.
13:08 Panel: Good.
13:10 Lomacang: Salvation and powers are present
13:12 and provides hope for our future.
13:15 That is... in Christ,
13:17 we are delivered from the penalty of sin.
13:20 That's justification.
13:22 But also, we are empowered for victory over the power of sin.
13:27 Justification... singular act...
13:29 delivered from the penalty of sin immediately
13:33 but daily we are being delivered from the power of sin...
13:36 Sanctification...
13:37 and, we will be in His image to have eternal victory
13:41 over the presence of sin.
13:42 Remember those three "P's"
13:44 immediate deliverance from the penalty...
13:46 daily deliverance from the power...
13:48 and eternal deliverance from the presence.
13:51 That is the power of the everlasting gospel
13:53 and such as it is in the words of the Apostle Paul,
13:56 1st Corinthians 15 verse 57,
13:58 how do we get the victory?
14:00 "But thanks be to God,
14:01 who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. "
14:05 And how so? Revelation 12 verse 11,
14:08 "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb
14:11 and by the word of their testimony,
14:14 and they did not love their lives to the death. "
14:16 Jill: Amen, thank you so much Pastor John,
14:19 you were always looking at my notes
14:21 because I'm picking up right where you left off...
14:24 I love that.
14:25 On Monday, we look at the everlasting gospel.
14:28 Thank you Shelley for this assignment,
14:29 I'm very... I like this one.
14:31 I'm Jill Morikone, I guess I need to give my name.
14:34 We're looking at Revelation chapter 14 verse 6,
14:38 Revelation 14:6... you read it,
14:40 we're going to read it again.
14:41 We're focused on two words in this passage.
14:45 "Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven,
14:47 having the everlasting gospel
14:51 to preach to those who dwell on the earth...
14:53 to every nation, tribe, tongue and people. "
14:55 What is that everlasting gospel?
14:59 Is the everlasting gospel for those who are cowering in sin?
15:03 Those stained and polluted with no way to get clean?
15:07 Yes, it is.
15:08 Is the everlasting gospel for those who struggle
15:12 with addiction... trapped under the power of sin?
15:15 Yes, it is.
15:18 Is the everlasting gospel
15:19 for those tired of the world of sin that we live in
15:22 and want to be free from sin's presence?
15:27 Yes, it is.
15:28 There are many definitions of the everlasting gospel
15:30 but I'm looking at the three that you ended with.
15:33 The everlasting gospel is freedom from the penalty of sin.
15:38 That's justification.
15:39 That's forgiveness of sins.
15:42 It is freedom... it is pow...
15:44 freedom from the power of sin.
15:47 That's sanctification
15:49 and victory over sin
15:51 and it's freedom from the presence of sin
15:54 as Pastor John just explained.
15:56 That's glorification or the final eradication of sin.
16:00 You know, there's a danger of separating the gospel.
16:04 Some people say, "All the gospel is
16:07 is freedom from the penalty of sin.
16:10 We don't worry about anything else,
16:11 the only thing that we have to focus on
16:13 is freedom from the penalty of sin. "
16:15 And you know what?
16:17 That saves us...
16:18 the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin.
16:22 So, works... this freedom from the power of sin...
16:26 that doesn't add to our salvation.
16:28 We are saved by the blood of Jesus.
16:30 Think about the thief on the cross.
16:32 What happened to him?
16:34 And that moment when he accepted the dying Messiah Jesus
16:40 hanging on the cross next to him as His Savior,
16:43 he asked for forgiveness from those sins... he was justified.
16:47 There is nothing salvific that you can add to that process
16:51 and when he died,
16:53 he had no opportunity to walk out the sanctification process,
16:56 we know that He will be in heaven.
16:59 But yet, some denominations
17:03 and some even within our own church,
17:05 stay in this process of justification.
17:07 The only thing we focus on is freedom from the penalty of sin.
17:12 We never experience freedom from the power of sin.
17:15 We say, "Jesus saved me by grace through faith.
17:19 All that matters is that we love other people...
17:22 all that matters is that we're forgiven... "
17:25 and we lose sight that God loves us so much
17:27 that He doesn't want us to stay the way He found us.
17:30 He wants to change us into His image.
17:33 Some people strive to live free from the power of sin
17:39 without ever experiencing freedom from the penalty of sin.
17:41 Panel: Hmmm...
17:42 Jill: I know what that was like.
17:44 I spent years of my experience
17:46 not having freedom from the power of sin
17:49 but striving for freedom from the power of sin...
17:52 trying harder... gritting my teeth...
17:55 seeking perfection without ever understanding
17:59 that first I had to be free from the penalty of sin
18:02 and then, when I discovered that,
18:03 when I discovered the blood of Jesus covers me
18:05 and His righteousness...
18:06 the pendulum swung the other way for a bit
18:09 and all I focused on
18:11 was this freedom from the penalty of sin
18:13 and I forgot that not only are we free from sin's penalty
18:17 but we also have to walk in newness of life.
18:21 You see, the gospel is all three components.
18:24 The everlasting gospel is freedom from the penalty of sin,
18:28 yes, but it's also freedom from the power of sin
18:30 and finally freedom from the presence of sin.
18:33 So, let's talk about it,
18:35 let's talk about the freedom from the penalty of sin.
18:39 What is the penalty of sin?
18:41 The wages of sin is death.
18:43 The penalty of is death
18:44 but the gift of God is eternal life
18:47 through Jesus Christ our Lord.
18:49 How was the penalty paid?
18:52 You might be saying, "My sins are many
18:55 and I don't know how to get under...
18:57 from the weight of these sins. "
18:59 The penalty was paid by the blood of Jesus.
19:01 There are so many verses to this effect
19:05 but I think of 1st Peter 1 verse 19,
19:08 We were redeemed, Shelley,
19:09 with the precious blood of Christ.
19:12 "As of a lamb without blemish and without spot. "
19:16 Jesus paid our penalty on the cross
19:20 so that you and I could go free.
19:23 It's Romans 3... Romans 3 verses 23 to 26,
19:27 I love this and Ephesians 2:8 through 10.
19:30 To me, they're some of the most powerful statements
19:33 of justification and righteousness by faith.
19:36 If... Romans 3...
19:37 Romans 3 verse 23... "All have sinned... "
19:40 we're all under the penalty of sin.
19:43 All have sinned...
19:46 all have fallen short of the glory of God
19:48 and verse 24... Romans 3:24,
19:50 "Being justified... " there's that word... justified...
19:54 made right...
19:56 brought back into right relationship with God.
19:58 How?
19:59 "By His grace through the redemption
20:01 that is in Christ Jesus. "
20:03 The blood of Jesus cleanses you and I from all sin.
20:07 "Who God set forth as a propitiation...
20:10 He stood in my place...
20:13 His substitutionary death on the cross
20:15 stood in my place.
20:17 "By His blood through faith,
20:20 to demonstrate His righteousness
20:22 because in His forbearance,
20:23 God passed over the sins that were previously committed
20:26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness
20:29 that He might be just
20:31 and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
20:34 Jesus fulfilled the claims of the law
20:37 because the wages of sin is death
20:39 while justifying the sinner
20:41 if we have faith in Him.
20:43 So, how can I be justified?
20:45 Two things.
20:46 Number 1: You just ask for forgiveness for your sins.
20:50 1st John 1:9... if we confess our sins,
20:52 He's faithful and just to forgive us
20:54 and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
20:56 Number 2: You accept that forgiveness
21:00 and the righteousness of Jesus by faith.
21:03 Romans 5 verse 1,
21:06 "Having been justified by faith,
21:09 we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
21:12 Now, that's freedom from the penalty of sin.
21:15 Let's move to freedom from the power of sin.
21:17 How do I experience freedom from the power of sin?
21:21 Now, we can do many verses here,
21:22 but I want to give you four chapters
21:26 from the book of Romans.
21:27 Number 1: How do I experience freedom from the power of sin?
21:31 Number 1: you need the Romans 6 experience.
21:35 The Romans 6 experience is: Surrender.
21:38 Saying "No" to the old man or woman of sin.
21:41 Putting to death the old life.
21:44 It's surrender...
21:47 the old man of sin being crucified with Jesus
21:49 and our body of sin would be done away with.
21:51 It says, "He who has died has been free from sin. "
21:54 So, the first step in freedom from the power of sin
21:58 is the Romans 6 experience.
22:00 We just surrender of my own will...
22:02 my own way to Jesus Christ.
22:05 The second step in freedom from the power of sin
22:08 is the Romans 8 experience which I call: Empowerment.
22:12 It's saying "yes" to Jesus.
22:14 It's the infilling of the Holy Spirit
22:18 in the life of the believer.
22:19 You see, you can say, "Okay, I'm going to surrender my will,
22:24 I'm going to surrender my way,
22:25 I'm going to put to death the old person of sin... "
22:28 but you can't do that without the empowerment
22:30 of the Holy Spirit.
22:32 There is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus
22:37 Romans 8 verse 1.
22:38 "who do not walk according to the flesh,
22:41 but according to the Spirit. "
22:42 In Romans 8 verse 11,
22:44 "If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead
22:47 dwells in you,
22:48 He who raised Christ from the dead
22:50 will also give life to your mortal bodies
22:52 through His Spirit who dwells in you. "
22:56 What does that mean?
22:57 The presence of the Spirit in the life of the believer,
23:02 subdues the sinful desires of our bodies.
23:04 Step Number 3 to experience freedom from the power of sin
23:08 is the Romans 13 experience
23:11 and I call this intentionality.
23:14 It's making no room for temptation
23:17 and making choices for Christ.
23:20 It's casting off the works of darkness
23:22 and putting on the armor of light.
23:24 It's putting on the Lord Jesus Christ
23:26 and making no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lust.
23:30 You see, we can have the Romans 6 experience
23:32 and put to death the old woman or man of sin.
23:35 We can have the Romans 8 experience
23:36 and say, "I want to be filled with the Holy Spirit. "
23:38 But if, for instance, your struggle is alcohol
23:41 and say, "Okay, I'm not going to do that,
23:44 but yet I'm going to work in a bar
23:45 or I'm going to have alcohol in my home... "
23:47 That is not being intentional
23:48 in the choices that we make for Christ.
23:51 It is being intentional
23:54 making no room for temptation in your life.
23:57 And finally, Number 4:
23:59 I call the Romans 10:17 experience
24:02 which is study the Word of God.
24:05 Make time...
24:07 not only do we put to death the old life of sin...
24:09 not only do we ask for the infilling of the Holy Spirit,
24:12 not only do we make choices for Christ,
24:15 but you and I need to daily study the Word of God
24:19 because through that,
24:21 we can truly become empowered to live...
24:24 get freedom from the power of sin
24:26 and one day coming soon,
24:28 you and I will have freedom from the presence of sin...
24:33 the hope of the gospel is eternal life forever with Jesus.
24:37 Revelation 21... there will be a new heaven and a new earth,
24:42 there will be no more sin.
24:44 We will spend eternity with Jesus.
24:45 Lomacang: Amen, thank you Jill, wow!
24:47 I'm waiting to see what is going to happen
24:49 when Shelley gets loose...
24:50 this is a topic we all love... the everlasting gospel.
24:53 Don't go away... we'll be right back in just a few moments.
24:56 Music...

25:33 We're going to go to Shelley Quinn...
25:35 The Story of Grace.
25:36 Shelley: Oh, I'm so excited... once again, I'm Shelley Quinn
25:40 and I just have to say to you that the entire Bible
25:45 is the story of God's love... God's righteousness
25:50 and God's grace.
25:52 And that's something that a lot of people
25:55 fail to see in the Old Testament but it's there.
25:59 What is grace?
26:01 Grace is the unearned, undeserved favor of God
26:05 and you know what Paul said in 2nd Timothy 1:9,
26:10 grace was given to us in Christ Jesus
26:14 before time began...
26:17 before the world was formed.
26:21 Salvation has always been by grace
26:25 both the Old Testament and the New Testament.
26:27 And the three angel's message
26:31 is the most important message,
26:34 this is the continuation of God's grace...
26:36 the most important message
26:39 that needs to be going around the world
26:42 and that foundation of that message
26:45 is the everlasting gospel of righteousness by faith
26:51 through the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ
26:55 and through His intercession as our High Priest.
27:00 Let's read Revelation 14:6 again,
27:03 "Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven,
27:07 having the everlasting gospel
27:10 to preach to those who dwell on the earth...
27:14 to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people. "
27:19 You cannot understand or accept
27:24 the rest of the message of the first angel
27:28 or the warnings of the second and third angel
27:32 if the everlasting gospel is not the foundation.
27:36 You've got to know what is the everlasting gospel.
27:41 It is the good news of the everlasting covenant
27:46 of God for salvation.
27:47 Here is my favorite Scripture,
27:49 I'm going to read it in its entirety,
27:52 Revelation 13:8,
27:54 it's talking about the beast power
27:58 and then the one who gives
28:01 the other earth power
28:05 and it says, "All who dwell on the earth will worship him... "
28:09 the one who sets up the image to the beast...
28:12 "whose names have not been written in the Book of Life
28:17 of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. "
28:22 In eternity past... before God created the world,
28:26 God... the Father, Son, and Spirit
28:29 made a determination...
28:31 one of them would come to earth...
28:35 become a human
28:37 and pay our penalty for our sins.
28:40 You know, when God created us in His image,
28:44 the greatest gift He ever gave us was free will.
28:48 Now, some people say, "Why free will?"
28:50 Why... if... if... if He could foresee possibly
28:54 that we were going to sin,
28:55 why give us free will?
28:57 Because God is love... 1st John 4:8,
29:03 God is self-sacrificing love.
29:07 1st John 1:5 says that God is light.
29:11 That is His character of righteousness
29:15 and a loving, righteous God
29:18 knew that love could not be forced.
29:21 He created us
29:22 that we would have a reciprocal love relationship with Him.
29:28 He created us hoping that as He demonstrated His love...
29:33 His righteousness and His grace,
29:35 we would choose
29:37 to be in an intimate relationship with Him.
29:41 He knew free will was risky, yeah,
29:45 but you know what?
29:46 When Adam and Eve sinned,
29:49 when they disobeyed God...
29:51 their spiritual virginity was lost.
29:56 There was no way
29:58 that they could become righteous on their own again.
30:02 Fig-leaf aprons weren't going to cover their sin.
30:06 So, what did God do?
30:08 It's an amazing thing.
30:09 He comes to them in Genesis 3:15
30:13 and He announces the everlasting gospel.
30:16 He says that the seed of the woman...
30:19 He's talking about Jesus Christ the Messiah... the Christ...
30:23 would crush the head of Satan
30:27 but then what He did was so amazing!
30:31 The next thing He did was... He made articles... skins...
30:35 coverings for them...
30:36 cloaks for them
30:38 from the skins of the sacrificed lamb
30:41 and you know what?
30:43 Immediately... as soon as He did that,
30:46 He put the substitutionary
30:50 sacrificial system in place
30:53 that opened the pathway to righteousness by faith...
30:57 it pointed to the coming Messiah.
31:00 Adam... Eve... their son, Abel,
31:04 Enoch, Seth, Enosh, Noah,
31:08 Shem, Job were all made righteous.
31:13 God calls them: Righteous.
31:15 They couldn't restore their own righteousness...
31:19 it was righteousness by faith in the coming Messiah.
31:22 Now, I have to point out something,
31:24 you are probably familiar
31:27 that Paul calls Abraham the father of us all.
31:32 In Genesis 15:6,
31:35 it says that Abraham believed God
31:40 and God counted it to him as righteousness.
31:44 We don't know how old he was there...
31:47 somewhere between 75 after God had first...
31:50 or called him from Haran.
31:55 But he was before the age of 84 because he had...
31:59 he hadn't had Ishmael yet
32:03 but guess what?
32:04 Here he's made righteous by faith
32:08 and then, in Genesis 17, God comes to Abraham
32:14 and you know what He says?
32:15 This is when Abraham is 99...
32:17 so, this is years after this
32:19 "righteousness by faith" to your point,
32:22 you can't just be justified by faith.
32:25 God comes to Abraham and He says,
32:27 "I'm the Lord God Almighty... " this is Genesis 17:1,
32:32 "walk before Me and be blameless. "
32:35 What?
32:36 God has always expected His people
32:41 to walk in obedience motivated by love and loyalty.
32:46 Let me tell you something,
32:48 you clearly see all ten commandments
32:50 in the book of Genesis.
32:52 When God renewed this everlasting covenant
32:57 with Isaac, you know why He did?
33:02 Genesis 26 verse 5 says,
33:04 "because... " God's telling Isaac,
33:08 "I'm renewing this because Abraham obeyed My voice,
33:11 kept My charge
33:13 My commandments... My statutes
33:15 and my laws. "
33:17 See, righteousness by faith
33:21 is a relational term.
33:23 God is righteous...
33:26 the way He relates to us is by righteousness.
33:31 The way we relate to Him is by righteousness
33:35 and the goal of the everlasting covenant
33:39 that was announced in the Garden,
33:41 ratified in vision with Abraham,
33:43 it's all throughout the Old Testament
33:46 and then Jesus comes to renew this everlasting covenant
33:50 and ratify it by His own blood.
33:53 The goal is 2nd Corinthians 5:21,
33:56 where he says, "He made Him who knew no sin
34:00 to be sin for us,
34:02 that we might become the righteousness of God
34:07 in Christ Jesus. "
34:09 So, here is the point I want to make
34:12 in the short time I have left.
34:14 We are made righteous to practice righteousness.
34:18 Our destiny is to become like Jesus.
34:22 Psalm 85:13 says,
34:24 "Righteousness goes before Him,
34:26 and makes His footsteps our pathway. "
34:30 1st John 2:6 says, "He who abides in Him
34:34 ought also to walk just as He walked. "
34:38 1st John 2:29 says, "If you know He is righteous,
34:42 you know that everyone who practices righteousness
34:46 is born of Him. "
34:48 And 1st John 3:7 says,
34:51 "Little children, let no one deceive you.
34:55 He who practices righteousness is righteous,
34:58 just as He is righteous. "
34:59 Panel: That's right.
35:01 Shelley: I want to tell you something,
35:03 obedience can only be done by grace.
35:06 It is God who works in us
35:09 to will and to do His good pleasure.
35:11 It is God who fills us with the Holy Spirit.
35:16 Yes, He delivered us...
35:18 justified us...
35:20 declared us not guilty by the blood of Jesus.
35:23 But the Bible says it is the blood of Jesus...
35:26 the Holy Spirit
35:28 and the Father who sanctifies us
35:30 and only could we be delivered from the power of sin
35:35 by the grace of our Lord.
35:37 Panel: Amen... amen.
35:39 Perrin: Thank you, Shelley.
35:40 The story of grace...
35:41 we have the everlasting gospel
35:44 but who is it for?
35:46 Who gets to receive it?
35:47 I'm Daniel Perrin
35:48 and you might be watching this from your own living room,
35:52 but the title of this Lesson takes us: Into All the World.
35:55 And I... when I was growing up,
35:57 I went to a school... a Seventh-day Adventist School
36:00 where every Monday,
36:01 we said the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag
36:04 and the very last line there...
36:07 "with liberty and justice for all. "
36:10 Now, whether or not we as a nation have,
36:13 you know, enacted that,
36:15 we recognize that liberty that is just for a few
36:18 is not really liberty
36:20 and the same is true spiritually
36:23 that the problem of sin is universal.
36:26 It spread everywhere
36:28 and if there is going to be a solution,
36:29 it had better be universal too.
36:31 An old Christmas song says that
36:33 He came to make the blessing flow
36:35 far as the curse is found.
36:38 Not just part way.
36:39 Titus 2:11 says, "For the grace of God
36:43 that brings salvation has appeared to all men. "
36:47 Three-letter word there "All"
36:49 may be among one of the most important words of the Bible
36:52 that everyone is to receive it
36:54 and lest we think that this is just a New Testament idea,
36:58 the testaments are united
36:59 and they speak together here back in Isaiah 45 verse 22,
37:03 God is speaking here saying, "Look to me and be saved,
37:07 all you ends of the earth
37:09 for I am God, and there is no other. "
37:13 And God is not going back on this
37:15 not at this critical and crucial time where we are right now,
37:19 not with all He has paid for every life...
37:22 for every soul...
37:24 for every person
37:25 and so, we come to three cosmic messages
37:28 and they are sent out flying in mid-heaven.
37:32 If we go back the chapter before Revelation 14,
37:37 there are two beasts that we see.
37:39 One that covers the earth
37:41 and one arising from the sea.
37:44 A political and a religious power
37:46 and they seem to have it covered.
37:48 They got the land and the sea.
37:51 They got everything taken care of
37:53 and yet, what we discover is that God sends His message
37:57 flying in the midst of heaven...
37:59 that the Lord is still the Lord of the heavens
38:02 and He is Lord over all the earth
38:04 and so, when Jesus speaks about the time of the end
38:08 and the things that we can anticipate...
38:09 things that are coming...
38:11 it says there in Luke 21:28,
38:13 "And when you see these things about to happen... "
38:16 where do you look?
38:17 "you look up... " Panel: That's right.
38:19 Perrin: "lift up your heads,
38:20 your redemption draws near... "
38:21 because the... the good news message
38:23 is something that will be visible to all.
38:26 Now, people can try to claim a little bit of earth
38:28 and people do all the time,
38:30 but you can't claim the air.
38:31 Panel: That's right.
38:33 Perrin: The message in mid-heaven
38:34 disperses through the air,
38:36 it's going to be for everybody.
38:38 Geography is not a hindrance to God.
38:40 The lines we draw on maps mean nothing to Him
38:44 as far as stopping the gospel presentation.
38:47 Everybody is going to hear this message in some way.
38:50 Now, before Jesus returns,
38:52 the world will be divided.
38:55 Everybody will have a chance to make a choice.
38:57 There's not going to be a third group of people
39:00 that didn't have opportunity to hear...
39:02 to receive the message in some way.
39:05 This is a big task.
39:07 The world is big.
39:09 This is way bigger than me.
39:11 But have you ever wanted to be a part of something
39:14 that's bigger than yourself?
39:15 You want to do something that matters...
39:17 something that's going to make a difference.
39:19 We talk about leaving a legacy
39:21 of something that's going to be...
39:23 going to be critical and useful.
39:25 Well, the three angels... these cosmic messages
39:28 are saying to us... now is that time...
39:30 this is that time that something that you can be a part of
39:33 be useful in something that's going to make a big difference.
39:36 This unites people with angels...
39:40 with the very message of God spoken through Jesus
39:44 coming through His prophets.
39:45 The greatest task ever undertaken
39:48 any building project... any government project out there
39:51 it's nothing compared to this here.
39:53 And so, before Jesus leaves this earth,
39:55 among the last things he says to His disciples,
39:57 Acts chapter 1 verse 8,
39:59 it says, "But you shall receive power
40:02 when the Holy Spirit comes upon you;
40:05 and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem,
40:08 and in Judea and in Samaria,
40:11 and to all the ends of the earth. "
40:14 Panel: Hmmm... hmmm...
40:15 Perrin: He says to the disciples
40:17 who had never been more than a hundred miles from their home.
40:18 How could they even contemplate and comprehend
40:21 the... the... the size of an earth 24,000 miles around it...
40:25 its equator
40:26 with a population of eight billion people and growing
40:29 I don't have a very big sphere of influence.
40:32 I've been to South America once
40:33 but other than that, I... I don't travel.
40:36 How... how big is this message?
40:38 Can it ever be done?
40:40 I want you to know that God thinks...
40:42 God knows this message can be done.
40:44 He tells us in each of the gospels, listen to this here,
40:47 Matthew 28:19, "Therefore go and make disciples
40:51 of all nations... "
40:52 Mark 16:15, "He said to them, 'Go into all the world
40:56 and preach to every creature. "
40:58 Luke 24 verses 47 and 48,
41:01 "that repentance and remission of sins
41:04 should be preached in His name to all nations,
41:06 John 20 and verse 21,
41:08 "As the Father has sent Me, I also send you. "
41:13 All right, Paul gets the same message
41:16 there in Acts 26 verses 16 and 17,
41:19 it says, "to whom I now send you,
41:22 to the Gentiles to open their eyes... "
41:24 Isaiah 49 verse 6,
41:26 "Is it too small a thing that You should be My Servant
41:30 to raise up the tribes of Jacob,
41:32 and to restore the preserved ones of Israel;
41:35 I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles,
41:38 that You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth... "
41:41 and then hear this three angels' message
41:43 to be preached to every nation and kindred and tongue
41:47 and people...
41:49 there's not very many more categories perhaps you can use
41:51 but it's covering it all.
41:53 Yes, but how?
41:54 I talked to somebody on the phone last week that said,
41:58 "Is this even possible?
41:59 You think, I mean, can we even do this?"
42:01 Sure, there are difficulties out there.
42:04 97 percent of the unreached people of the world
42:07 live in what's called the 10/40 Window.
42:09 10 degrees north... the 40 degrees north latitude...
42:12 an area of the world...
42:14 you could look that up and figure out what that is.
42:16 Mostly poor... the biggest unreached cities...
42:19 places where the message has not been preached
42:21 but I want to share with you the message will go out
42:24 and here is why.
42:25 Number 1: Along with the message comes the power
42:28 and it's through the Holy Spirit.
42:30 Jesus says in John 15:16,
42:32 "You didn't choose Me, I chose you...
42:35 I appointed you... "
42:36 He takes responsibility for this message and says,
42:38 "I go along with you. "
42:40 All right, Number 2:
42:42 This is not a task for Institutions only.
42:45 This is a task for individuals
42:47 and everybody has a sphere of influence.
42:50 and God may be talking to you right now
42:53 or some time in the near future
42:54 as our ears are opened saying,
42:56 "Take your sphere of influence and move it somewhere else.
42:59 Too much light shining in one place,
43:02 got to go out and spread your sphere of influence. "
43:05 He tells the... the... His disciples there in Acts 1:8,
43:08 "Start in Jerusalem... start with those you know. "
43:11 Who do you know?
43:13 Panel: Hmmm...
43:14 Perrin: Sure, you may not be able to communicate with
43:15 people over there,
43:17 but you've got people right here.
43:18 Number 3: We've got literature that needs to go out,
43:21 the silent witness... you can't sit in their home
43:24 but as you give out something, they read it
43:26 and maybe it doesn't produce fruit right away,
43:29 but as the things that... that take place
43:31 that are predicted and prophesied begin to happen,
43:34 that silent witness begins to move on their minds.
43:37 All right, Radio and TV literally...
43:40 that's cutting through the air across languages...
43:43 and we may not be aware of it
43:45 but there are stories of people hearing this message
43:47 saying, "Ah, my heart is awakened...
43:49 my mind begins to understand what God is telling me. "
43:52 And God is working through these things.
43:55 Digital technologies...
43:57 almost everyone has a phone
43:59 and with the way this world is going,
44:01 everybody is going to have a phone
44:03 or something like that
44:04 and I'm not limiting God to say how He can work around...
44:07 what ways
44:08 but there is the ability for information
44:11 to be transmitted
44:12 in ways that could not have been possible in the past...
44:15 and not that God is reliant upon our technologies,
44:18 but there are possibilities out there.
44:20 There are long-term missionaries right now
44:22 expanding into other countries...
44:24 and this is not just a spur...
44:26 a quick spur of activity going on...
44:29 spending 20 years getting to know a language
44:31 and a people-group to understand their customs
44:34 and God may be calling you to say,
44:36 "Yes, my sphere influences to move into a location
44:39 and a place where I can share with people
44:42 who've never heard it... "
44:43 Paul wanted to go off to Spain
44:44 where nobody had heard the name of Jesus.
44:47 God is speaking to people in dreams...
44:50 He has in the past and He will continue.
44:52 We see that in Acts chapter 2 and Joel chapter 2.
44:55 In Matthew chapter 20 and verses 1 to 16,
44:58 there is a vineyard owner
45:00 and he goes out and gathers workers throughout the day,
45:03 and even at the 11th hour...
45:05 right before the close of the day,
45:07 he is inviting workers into the vineyard...
45:09 God will call... He is calling
45:10 and if you're watching right now
45:12 and you are one of those saying, "I'm not trained...
45:15 I've been sitting around, I haven't learned enough... "
45:17 God is calling a 11th-hour workers,
45:20 and I want to read you this very quickly here,
45:22 6th volume of the Testimonies, page 202,
45:24 "As the children sang in the temple courts,
45:27 'Hosanna blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord'
45:30 so, in these last days, children's voices will be raised
45:34 to give the last message of warning to a perishing world.
45:38 When heavenly intelligences see
45:40 that men are no longer permitted to present the truth,
45:43 a Spirit of God will come upon the children
45:46 and they will do a work in the proclamation of the truth
45:49 which the older ones could not do
45:51 because their way is hedged up. "
45:52 God is working through one and all
45:54 and may it be you.
45:56 Panel: Amen... amen.
45:57 James: Amen... that was powerful.
45:58 We're just going to continue with that theme,
46:00 I have Thursday's Lesson, my name is James Rafferty,
46:03 and it is entitled: A Mission Movement.
46:07 We are looking at Revelation chapter 14 verse 6,
46:10 the everlasting gospel that's to go into every nation,
46:12 kindred, tongue and people...
46:14 every single one of them... no one is left out.
46:18 This is a mission movement and God is in earnest with us,
46:22 He's in earnest with the entire world
46:24 because He wants every single person
46:27 to hear the everlasting gospel.
46:29 You know, the world is filled with
46:31 all kinds of religions today.
46:33 There are 1.3 billion Catholics,
46:36 there are about a billion Muslims,
46:38 there are 260,000 Orthodox,
46:42 there are about 800,000 Protestants.
46:44 We have billions of religions just within the Christian realm
46:49 never mind other religious persuasions
46:52 and God has one specific message
46:55 that's to go to every single nation,
46:58 every single tongue,
46:59 it is a message that brings down
47:01 what the Bible calls in Revelation 14 verse 8,
47:04 confusion... confusion about God
47:06 and confusion about salvation.
47:07 It is called: the everlasting gospel
47:10 and it's a very unique phrase,
47:11 you won't find that phrase, anywhere else in the Bible.
47:14 It is not in the Old Testament,
47:15 it's not in the New Testament,
47:17 the closest you can get to it is,
47:19 everlasting salvation in Isaiah 45
47:22 or in Hebrews chapter 13: everlasting covenant
47:25 which are basically the same thing
47:27 but God used this specific phrase for a reason
47:30 because He knew that God's end-time church
47:34 would be challenged in the end-time scenario
47:37 to bring these three cosmic messages
47:39 to all the world.
47:41 He knew we would be challenged by one specific thing
47:43 that all these other religions seem to either leave out
47:46 or present
47:48 and that is the idea that the gospel is everlasting.
47:51 If you go and knock on someone's door in Indonesia,
47:55 or in the nations of Europe,
47:57 or in South America,
47:59 or Central America,
48:00 or... or Asia...
48:01 or Australia,
48:03 or North America,
48:04 if you go and knock on their door
48:06 and you introduce them to this beautiful message
48:08 of the everlasting gospel
48:09 and you start to tell them
48:10 all about how this gospel leads to a people who
48:14 keep the commandments of God as well as the faith of Jesus,
48:17 if you start to share with them,
48:19 as we've been talking about here,
48:20 not only the... the deliverance from the penalty of sin
48:24 but also from the power of sin,
48:26 to live a sanctified life in Jesus Christ,
48:29 you start sharing that
48:31 and almost immediately, you're going to find people
48:33 closing that door
48:34 or you're going to find people closing those ears,
48:36 you're going to find people basically saying to you,
48:38 "You know what? That's Old Covenant. "
48:40 I mean, if they're Protestants,
48:42 if they're Evangelicals...
48:43 if they're into "grace"
48:44 that's Old Covenant.
48:46 "You know, we don't follow the Law of God.
48:48 We are under grace.
48:50 It's a dispensation... don't you know?
48:52 It's a dispensation of the New Covenant...
48:53 we're under grace. "
48:55 And a lot of times, we as Seventh-day Adventists,
48:56 will respond to that and say, "Well, wait a minute,
48:58 wait a minute... wait a minute,
49:00 let me prove to you...
49:01 I can prove to you from the Scriptures
49:03 that the Law is still binding.
49:04 I can prove to you from the New Testament
49:06 that the Law is still binding.
49:07 I can prove to you that the Law wasn't just for the Jews,
49:09 I can go back before there was ever a Jew
49:11 and show that God's people kept the Law... "
49:14 we reason and we argue from this perspective,
49:16 but there's another way we could possibly approach this.
49:19 If someone is actually responding by saying,
49:22 "You know, we are into grace now...
49:24 that's the Old Covenant...
49:26 law-keeping is Old Covenant,
49:27 we're under the New Covenant,
49:29 we're saved by grace. "
49:30 We could actually respond and say,
49:31 "Well, are you suggesting then there was a time
49:34 when we were saved by obedience to the law?
49:36 Are you suggesting there was a time
49:38 when people were actually saved by law obedience
49:40 but now, since Jesus... we're saved by grace
49:43 and not by the law?"
49:44 And they might respond and say,
49:46 "Yeah... "
49:47 And you might want to share with them,
49:50 "Well, if Hebrews chapter 4 verse 2 says,
49:52 that the gospel was preached unto them as well as unto us.
49:55 And Galatians chapter 3 verse 8 says,
49:58 that Abraham had the gospel preached unto him. "
50:00 Shelley: Amen.
50:01 James: You see, this is the everlasting gospel.
50:03 It's the only way, anyone ever has been saved
50:06 or ever will be saved.
50:07 It's the way of salvation.
50:09 Jesus Christ was the Lamb slain from the foundation
50:12 of the world.
50:13 Old-Testament faithful look forward to Christ...
50:15 the New-Testament faithful look back to Christ,
50:18 but everyone's looking to the cross.
50:20 Everyone's looking to Jesus.
50:21 And so, when you see this phrase "the everlasting gospel,"
50:24 in the book of Revelation chapter 14,
50:27 we're being reminded by God
50:29 that God has a specific purpose
50:32 for putting that phrase right here in the center
50:35 of these three cosmic messages.
50:38 He's seeking to awaken an understanding
50:41 of the way of salvation from the very beginning...
50:43 from the foundation of the world.
50:46 You might ask the question,
50:47 "Well, where's the gospel in the Old Testament?"
50:49 I understand the gospel in the New Testament,
50:51 because now we have the cross, we have Calvary,
50:53 where is the gospel in the Old Testament?
50:55 Well, it is everywhere,
50:57 the whole sanctuary service was gospel.
50:59 That whole System was all about the gospel.
51:01 It was pointing to the Lamb
51:02 to Jesus Christ... the Lamb...
51:03 Adam and Eve sinned
51:05 and immediately you have the sacrificial system
51:07 put into place.
51:08 You have the animal skins that came from the sacrifice
51:10 for their sins... again, pointing to the Lamb
51:12 that was slain from the foundation of the world.
51:14 In fact, the gospel is found
51:18 in the heart of the Ten-Commandment Law.
51:22 Panel: Amen.
51:23 Rafferty: If you go to Exodus chapter 20,
51:24 you're going to find this in Exodus chapter 20
51:27 verses 1 and 2.
51:28 If you go there and you read the Ten Commandments,
51:30 you're going to find that the Ten Commandments
51:32 actually teach the very same thing
51:34 that we see taught in the New Testament
51:37 that we keep God's commandments because we love Him
51:42 and we love Him because He first loved us.
51:45 Panel: Yes.
51:46 Rafferty: In other words, it is love that motivates
51:49 obedience to God's commandments.
51:51 God loves us... we love Him
51:53 and if we love Him, we keep His commandments.
51:57 That's 1st John 4 verse 19 and John 14 verse 15
52:01 and Revelation chapter 14 verse 12,
52:04 we're not there yet
52:05 but we'll get into Revelation 14 verse 12
52:06 a little bit later in our study,
52:08 so, you go to the law of God in Exodus chapter 20
52:11 and you read... you begin reading
52:13 "I'm the Lord thy God
52:15 which brought thee out of the land of Egypt...
52:17 out of the house of bondage. "
52:18 And you have to think to yourself,
52:20 "Well, how did God do that?"
52:22 How did God bring them out of the house of bondage?
52:25 How does God bring us out of our bondage?
52:27 How does God bring us out of our sin?
52:29 How does God bring us out of the chains of vice?
52:32 How does He deliver us from the bondage of sin?
52:35 Well, He delivers us by the blood of the Lamb.
52:38 We overcome by the blood of the Lamb.
52:40 How did He deliver His people out of Egyptian bondage?
52:43 Well, He had these plagues that He sent on the Egyptians
52:47 and when the tenth plague came,
52:50 it was the death of the firstborn
52:52 and the only way you could be preserved... delivered
52:55 from the death of the firstborn was through the...
52:59 blood of the lamb...
53:02 the Passover blood of the lamb.
53:04 The children of Israel and even believing Egyptians
53:06 had to take a lamb and slay it
53:08 and put the blood on the doorpost and lintels...
53:10 in other words,
53:11 God's people were delivered by the blood of the lamb
53:14 in the Old Testament
53:16 just like we're delivered by the blood of the Lamb
53:18 in the New Testament.
53:20 There's nothing new here
53:21 according to Revelation 14 verse 6,
53:23 this is the everlasting gospel.
53:26 It's the only way we've ever been saved
53:29 and as they were delivered by the blood of the Lamb,
53:31 God delivers them through the Red Sea...
53:34 takes them out of the wilderness
53:35 that they are at Mount Sinai...
53:36 He thunders with a... a mighty voice,
53:38 they tremble and fear before Him and He speaks these ten words
53:42 but before He speaks these ten words,
53:44 He reminds them of something.
53:45 What does He remind them of?
53:47 His love... His grace... His deliverance...
53:50 the blood of the Lamb...
53:51 the everlasting covenant...
53:52 the everlasting gospel...
53:54 the everlasting salvation,
53:55 he says, "I'm the Lord your God
53:57 and I brought you... I delivered you
53:59 by the blood of the Lamb,
54:01 I delivered you out of bondage.
54:02 Therefore, don't have any other gods before Me
54:05 because the natural consequence of the gospel
54:08 is obedience to the Law.
54:10 The natural consequence of the gospel
54:12 is the fruit of obedience.
54:14 That's what comes out of being saved in Jesus Christ
54:17 and if we're not saved in Jesus Christ...
54:20 if we're not keeping the Law of God,
54:22 we're not saved in Jesus Christ
54:24 because in the Old Testament and in the New Testament,
54:27 in both places,
54:28 Exodus chapter 20 beginning with verse 1,
54:31 and Revelation 14, beginning with verse 6,
54:33 in both of those places,
54:35 we see a people end up keeping the commandments of God
54:38 and that... in both places, that comes out a reminder
54:41 of the everlasting gospel that God brings to them
54:44 to their notice
54:45 in relationship to the blood of the Lamb.
54:48 And so, we see this cosmic message
54:50 that's going to go to all the world in these last days
54:53 to every nation, kindred, tongue and people.
54:54 It's going to break down all of the barriers
54:56 as Mark says... Mark Finley says here
54:59 in this Lesson,
55:00 he says the preaching of the everlasting gospel
55:02 leaps across geographical boundaries.
55:04 It penetrates earth's remotest areas.
55:06 It reaches people of every language and every culture
55:09 and eventually, it will impact the entire world.
55:12 That is the power of the everlasting gospel.
55:16 The power to deliver God's people from Egyptian bondage
55:19 is the same power that God has today
55:21 to deliver us from whatever bondage we are in.
55:25 Panel: Amen... amen.
55:27 Lomacang: Amen, thank you James.
55:29 Wow! I guess there's a little extra time, Jill,
55:32 the closing thought that's on your mind.
55:34 Jill: It's a powerful study, I just want to remind you
55:37 that the same God who can forgive us of our sins...
55:41 who can justify us... that same God can free us
55:44 from the power of sin.
55:46 He works in us and through us to do His good pleasure
55:49 and He can sanctify us by His grace.
55:51 Shelley: Amen, you know the Bible's really clear
55:55 that God keeps covenant
55:56 with those who keep covenant with Him.
55:59 His covenant is a covenant of grace.
56:03 We talk about free grace
56:06 but let me... I want you to consider the cost of grace,
56:11 1st Peter 1:18 through 20,
56:14 "knowing that you were redeemed not with corruptible things,
56:18 like silver and gold,
56:19 from your aimless conduct received by tradition
56:23 from your fathers,
56:25 but with the precious blood of Christ,
56:27 as a lamb without blemish
56:32 and without spot. "
56:34 The spotless Lamb of God
56:37 who takes away the sins of the world.
56:41 Let me tell you grace is undeserved
56:45 but don't ever think of yourself as unworthy
56:48 because you are worth nothing less
56:51 than the price that He paid for you
56:54 with His own blood.
56:56 Perrin: You know, when you think about the scope of the mission
57:02 that stands before us,
57:03 you might say to yourself, "I... I can't do much. "
57:06 And God is not calling you to do everything,
57:09 but He's calling you to say, "I'm available... "
57:12 before the disciples were told to go,
57:15 they were told to come
57:17 and the coming is to sit at the feet of Jesus...
57:20 to learn from His Word
57:21 and you could use this time to make yourself
57:24 available to other mission organizations.
57:27 I think about Adventist Frontier Missions...
57:29 Adventist World Radio...
57:30 Gospel Outreach...
57:32 Adventist World Aviation and others
57:33 and put yourself on their mailing list
57:35 and say, "I want to know what's going on
57:37 so that I can pray for it too. "
57:38 Panel: Amen... amen.
57:40 Rafferty: The everlasting gospel will break down every barrier.
57:42 Our job is to be lifting up Christ...
57:46 lift Him up before the world...
57:47 allow Him to draw all people unto Him.
57:49 Lomacang: Thank you so much everyone
57:51 for disseminating the everlasting gospel
57:54 that we'll continue to proclaim
57:55 but Paul says it's the mystery that has been hidden from ages
57:59 and from generations,
58:00 but now has been revealed to His saints. "
58:02 Colossians 1 verse 26.
58:05 Join us next time for the Lesson:
58:07 Fear God and give glory to Him
58:09 as we continue in these three cosmic messages.
58:12 We look forward to seeing you then.
