00:34 Hi, boys and girls.
00:35 I'm so glad that you've joined us
00:37 for some fun in the kitchen.
00:39 And you know what? We are gonna have fun today.
00:43 And I have some special helpers.
00:45 I have Mr. Levi. Hi.
00:49 And I have Miss Shiloh. Hi.
00:52 And I have Miss Christiana, and I have Mr. John Wesley.
00:58 And who is ready to cook?
01:00 Me! Me!
01:01 Oh, boys and girls, are you ready to cook?
01:04 Guess what we are gonna make today?
01:08 Anybody have an idea?
01:10 No. No.
01:11 Sloppy Salamis.
01:15 Have you ever had a Sloppy Salami?
01:17 No.
01:19 Oh, well, you are going to learn
01:21 how to make Miss Cinda's Sloppy Salamis today.
01:25 Okay, before we start,
01:28 we have to talk about being careful, okay?
01:32 So what is on the table
01:35 that you have to be really careful for?
01:38 This. That's right.
01:39 Boys and girls, do you see these?
01:42 Don't ever use an electric skillet
01:44 without an adult, okay?
01:47 Why do I say that?
01:48 Because you don't want to burn your hand.
01:51 Yes. That's right.
01:53 Because when I turn 'em on, they are gonna get what?
01:58 Hot. Oh, that's right.
02:00 Real hot. So we have to be careful, okay?
02:03 So, boys and girls, always be careful.
02:06 When you are helping your mommies and daddies
02:08 or an adult in the kitchen, be careful around anything
02:11 that's hot because we don't want
02:12 to get burned, do we?
02:14 No.
02:15 Okay, so I'm gonna go ahead
02:16 and turn our electric skillets on,
02:18 so everybody be careful not to touch, okay?
02:23 Gonna turn 'em on.
02:25 Now, we're gonna start by...
02:28 I've already cut up the onions
02:32 and celery for you guys
02:35 because I don't want you using sharp knives.
02:37 So you get an adult to help you do that,
02:39 boys and girls.
02:41 So we're gonna start out by getting two tablespoons
02:45 of oil in each skillet.
02:47 So you can each get your tablespoons
02:49 and I'll pour tablespoon in
02:51 and you can dump it in the skillet.
02:53 But now be careful not to touch it.
02:55 There's yours.
02:56 You can just dump it in the skillet.
02:58 Okay, Shiloh, hold your hand over just a little bit,
03:00 but little higher
03:01 'cause I don't want you to get burned.
03:03 There you go. You can dump it in.
03:05 Here's yours, John Wesley.
03:07 Okay, so boys and girls,
03:09 you're gonna need two tablespoons of olive oil.
03:12 There you go. Okay, dump that in.
03:15 Now John Wesley and Levi,
03:18 can you very carefully dump the onions in?
03:22 Can you dump the onions in the skillet?
03:24 Take your onions.
03:25 Ah-huh, can you get your onions, John Wesley,
03:28 and dump 'em in the skillet?
03:30 Put 'em in. Go ahead, go.
03:35 And I'll help you, okay?
03:37 And you can just put that on the counter over here
03:40 if you want or you can take it to the sink if you want, Levi.
03:45 There you go. Okay, did you get yours in?
03:48 I'll help you. Good job.
03:53 Can you put this over on the sink for me too,
03:56 please, Mr. Levi?
03:57 Okay, so we're gonna let that saute just a little bit.
04:02 And, Christiana, you want to put the celery in?
04:09 Good job.
04:13 Well, Levi, you are so good at putting stuff on the sink.
04:16 I'll just keep you going to the sink.
04:18 Would you like to help dump these in, Miss Shiloh?
04:21 Mm-hmm. Okay, ready?
04:24 There you go.
04:26 Oh, now the reason why we are staring this first
04:31 is because we want these to cooked out
04:36 so they are real tender.
04:38 And I want you, boys and girls,
04:40 to look at the onions right now.
04:42 Can you see what color are the onions?
04:45 What color are they?
04:46 White. White?
04:48 So when recipes will say that
04:52 they want you to cook the onions to a clear,
04:55 we're gonna show you what that's like.
04:57 You're gonna see
04:58 these white onions are gonna turn clear.
05:02 So you guys let me know when you think
05:04 they are turning clear
05:05 because that means they are done cooking, okay?
05:08 Did you know that? Now it's clear.
05:10 That's pretty cool, isn't it?
05:11 Yeah. Yeah.
05:13 Mr. Levi, one more trip to the sink, please.
05:15 Thank you.
05:17 Okay, so now next what we are gonna...
05:20 We've got that going.
05:22 So now we're gonna need two tablespoons of lemon juice.
05:25 So everybody get your lemon squeezers, okay?
05:30 And I'm gonna give you each a lemon,
05:33 and you guys can squeeze some lemons for me.
05:37 I need some fresh lemon juice.
05:42 We like fresh. Oh, big muscles.
05:45 Keep pushing down and twist.
05:48 We want to...
05:49 Good job.
05:50 You want me to hold it for you, John Wesley, here?
05:53 Push it down and twist. Did you got it?
05:57 Oh, Levi, that's creative.
06:00 He is twisting the bowls than the lemon.
06:02 That's good. You are getting the job done.
06:06 Good job, Christiana. Press down harder.
06:09 Press down harder, John Wesley, and twist.
06:12 How are you doing, Shiloh? Great.
06:15 Okay, put one hand on here and now twist
06:18 with that hand and hold it.
06:20 Yeah, good job. All right, I'll help you hold.
06:24 Push down real hard, Shiloh. Oh, big muscles, Shiloh.
06:28 Oh, now twist. Good job, good job.
06:34 Oh, little bit more juice in yours still.
06:37 Ah, boys and girls,
06:38 have you ever made fresh lemon juice?
06:42 Mmm, it will make your recipe taste a lot better
06:45 if you use the fresh.
06:47 And this is fun, isn't it? Let's see.
06:50 Are you getting anything, Shiloh?
06:52 Look...
06:53 Oh, now that's good. Show the camera, Levi.
06:57 Look how he got all of his out.
07:00 Look at that. Good job.
07:04 How are you doing, Christiana?
07:06 Oh, you got to be using more muscle, Christiana.
07:10 Press down real hard.
07:12 Press, go like this and cup it with your hand.
07:16 Cup it with your hands, boys and girls,
07:17 like that and then press down real hard and twist.
07:21 Now twist it.
07:23 Back and forth, back and forth.
07:25 Good job. Keep going.
07:27 You are getting some, you are getting some.
07:29 Good job, John Wesley.
07:32 Levi, can you help Shiloh? Oh.
07:35 Because you've already...
07:37 You did a awesome job. Can you help Shiloh?
07:39 And I'll help Christiana.
07:41 John Wesley, you almost got yours.
07:42 Let me see your lemon. Did you get it all?
07:45 Careful, Levi. Almost, almost.
07:48 I'll hold your container for you.
07:50 Oh, wow. Good job.
07:54 Okay, your turn. Press real hard, real hard.
07:59 Ah, good job, Christiana.
08:03 Real hard, real hard. Oh, big muscles.
08:08 Good job. Did you tell him thank you?
08:10 Thank you. You are welcome, Shiloh.
08:12 Okay, you might have it...
08:15 Let me do a little bit more for you.
08:18 Oh, see all that that came out.
08:20 Look, there's a whole bunch of juice.
08:24 There, look. See?
08:27 How are you doing? Let me see yours.
08:29 I think you have enough. See how much juice you got?
08:32 Look at that. Look at that, boys and girls.
08:37 Isn't that fun? Okay, now let me stir this.
08:41 Anybody watching our onions?
08:44 Are they starting to get clearer?
08:46 Yeah. Yeah.
08:47 Yeah.
08:48 You got to tell me when they get clearer.
08:50 Clear. It looks clear.
08:52 They look clear? Not yet. Not yet, they are not.
08:56 I need to turn this one up more.
09:00 This one is not as hot as that skillet.
09:04 So let me turn yours up a little bit more.
09:07 Okay, now we are gonna add some...
09:11 Does anybody know what I have here on the table?
09:13 What's this? A recipe.
09:15 Very good, Christiana. It's important to what?
09:20 To have a recipe.
09:22 And not just have a recipe, it's important to what?
09:25 Follow the recipe, isn't it?
09:27 So, boys and girls, make sure
09:28 that you follow the recipe, okay?
09:30 So let's see. We've done the olive oil.
09:35 We've done the onions. We've done the celery.
09:37 And now it's time to do...
09:42 Let's do one and a half cups of ketchup.
09:47 So, boys, you can do your one cup.
09:52 And, girls, you get your half a cup.
09:54 So, Levi, can you fill that? Fill your cup with ketchup.
09:58 Take the lid off. Nope, your one cup.
10:01 Let me show you.
10:02 And, boys and girls, be careful when you are measuring,
10:05 make sure that you get the right cup
10:07 'cause you don't want...
10:09 See this says one and a slash and a half and two.
10:13 You know what that is? A half.
10:15 So that means that's a half of this.
10:19 So this says what? One cup.
10:22 That's right, one cup. Okay, fill your one cup.
10:26 Let's set this aside. You fill it.
10:28 You can fill your one cup with ketchup.
10:31 Put your cup down. Fill it up.
10:32 And you get your half a cup.
10:35 See how it says one slash two?
10:39 What does that mean? Do you know?
10:41 No. A half.
10:44 Can you say that? A half.
10:46 Yes.
10:47 So here, you're gonna fill half with that, okay?
10:50 Okay. Oh, good job, Christiana.
10:53 You have the half. And you have your cup.
10:55 Good job. Okay.
10:59 Pour this in?
11:02 Just wait. Just one minute.
11:04 Can you stir that for me, very careful, Levi?
11:06 With a spatula? Yes, you may.
11:09 Those are special spatulas so they are special
11:12 where they are heat-resistant
11:14 so that you can use them in a hot skillet.
11:17 Make sure, boys and girls,
11:18 that if you're gonna use something like that
11:20 it's heat-resistant.
11:21 Squeeze, Shiloh. Squeezing.
11:24 Are you squeezing hard? Let me see your muscles.
11:27 Ooh, did you know you have that muscle to cook?
11:31 Mm-hmm. You did?
11:32 Mm-hmm. Oh, okay.
11:36 There you go. And I'll help you put it in.
11:39 There you go. It's yours, Christiana.
11:42 And I've given each of you little rags.
11:46 You know what these are for? Washing your hands.
11:49 Yes, if your hands get dirty. Good job.
11:51 And, John Wesley, do you want to stir these?
11:54 Yes.
11:55 Okay, you can take your spatula and stir them.
12:00 Get it all, get it...
12:03 Oh, no. What is that? That's our kitchen timer.
12:06 That says we have to hurry. Here you go.
12:10 You can fill yours. Okay, dump your ketchup in.
12:14 Go ahead and put your ketchup in.
12:16 Oh, you got a rag, sweetie. Well, you know what?
12:18 Here's your rag. Here you go.
12:21 Here you go. Okay, dump your ketchup in.
12:24 You know what? Good thing for you guys.
12:26 I've made some Sloppy Joes ahead of time.
12:30 In that way...
12:31 Sloppy Salamis. Oh, that's right.
12:33 You are right.
12:34 I am calling these Sloppy Salamis.
12:37 Thank you, Levi.
12:39 Boy, you are keeping me on track, aren't you?
12:42 I like that. Okay.
12:45 So now, boys and girls, what you gonna do
12:46 is you gonna add the ketchup.
12:48 Go ahead and add your ketchup. Add your ketchup.
12:52 We're gonna add a little bit of brown sugar.
12:55 We're gonna add a little bit of tomato paste.
12:59 Can I use this one?
13:00 Yes, you may get it out with that.
13:02 We're gonna add a little bit of tomato paste
13:04 and you can go ahead and stir that up, Levi.
13:09 And then we're gonna add our Bragg's Liquid Aminos
13:14 and we're gonna add our burger.
13:17 And let me show you what these look like.
13:20 You can go ahead and stir this too, John Wesley.
13:24 This is what it looks like when it's all done.
13:29 Who wants to taste it? Me!
13:31 Ooh, I've got some bread over here.
13:35 And I am gonna let you guys each taste a Sloppy Salamis.
13:40 Oh, don't these look good, boys and girls?
13:42 You'll have to try these at home.
13:45 Oh, that's our timer.
13:49 Boys and girls,
13:51 that's all the time we have for today.
13:53 But you know what?
13:54 Always remember
13:56 that anytime you can be in the kitchen, it's fun.
