00:01 Hi, and welcome back to Your Favorites by Request.
00:03 This is one of my favorite portions of the program.
00:06 When we invite a friend to call in
00:09 and he is going to tell us his favorite song.
00:12 This is Pastor John Lomacang
00:14 from Thompsonville Seventh-day Adventist Church.
00:18 John, are you there?
00:20 I'm here, Tim. How are you doing today?
00:21 I'm doing great.
00:23 It's great to see you a friendly face.
00:24 Good, good.
00:26 We're singing some wonderful songs today.
00:27 And I know how important music is to you.
00:30 So tell me a little bit about that?
00:32 Well, you know, music is
00:33 more than just an opportunity
00:34 for me to minister to other people.
00:36 Sometimes music is my own personal outlet,
00:39 you know, sometimes,
00:41 like life sometimes life is like a journey
00:43 on a two lane road.
00:44 And sometimes you get behind a driver
00:46 that's going so slow and you just wish
00:49 is there any outlet, is there any hope for me.
00:51 And all of a sudden you see a sign that says,
00:54 "A lane, second lane one mile ahead."
00:56 When you get to that lane,
00:57 it opens up and you're able to get away
00:59 from the slow moving traffic of life.
01:01 You are able to breathe.
01:03 And music allows me to breathe personally,
01:06 sometimes at home
01:07 I'll sit down at the keyboard and play not like you,
01:10 just to sing and minister to my own soul.
01:13 And one of the songs that's really good to me,
01:15 a favorite of mine is the song "He Lives".
01:18 Oh, yeah.
01:19 And you asked me the question, "How I know He lives?"
01:21 He lives within my heart.
01:22 Nice. That's one of my favorites.
01:23 Oh, great.
01:25 Well, let's sing that,
01:26 and do you mind singing that in the key of A-flat?
01:28 Sure.
01:29 I don't mind. Great. Okay.
01:38 I serve a risen Savior
01:40 He's in the world today
01:43 I know that He is living
01:45 Whatever men may say
01:48 I see His hand of mercy
01:50 I hear His voice of cheer
01:53 And just the time I need Him
01:55 He's always near
01:58 He lives, He lives Christ Jesus lives today
02:03 He walks with me and talks with me
02:06 Along life's narrow way
02:09 He lives, He lives, salvation to impart
02:16 You ask me how I know He lives?
02:23 He lives within
02:29 My heart
02:37 Thank you, John. That's a great song.
02:38 You're welcome. You're welcome.
02:39 And here's another great song
02:41 that I remember learning as a child.
02:42 You will love this song
02:44 if you don't know it already.
02:48 Every day with Jesus
02:51 Is sweeter than the day before
02:56 Every day with Jesus
03:00 I love Him more and more
03:04 Jesus saves and keeps me
03:08 And He's the one I'm waiting for
03:13 Every day with Jesus
03:16 Is sweeter than the day before
03:50 Sing it with me now.
03:52 Every day with Jesus
03:55 Is sweeter than the day before
04:00 Every day with Jesus
04:03 I love Him more and more
04:08 Jesus saves and keeps me
04:11 And He's the one I'm waiting for
04:16 Every day with Jesus
04:19 Is sweeter than the day before
04:29 There are so many songs,
04:31 over the years have been written
04:33 hundreds of thousands of songs,
04:34 and still people are writing songs today.
04:37 And I thought it would be fun just to pick a random song.
04:40 You know, I have a list of requests
04:41 that have come in,
04:42 but if I go over here
04:44 and just open the hymnal to a random song,
04:46 I don't claim to know every song in this book,
04:48 but maybe if I just open it
04:50 and we'll do one that will surprise both of us,
04:53 all right so.
04:55 Oh, this is a great song "At Calvary".
04:58 This is beautiful.
04:59 If you know it too, sing along, all right.
05:48 I'll sing that chorus again.
05:49 O mercy there was great,
05:52 And grace was free
05:55 Pardon there was multiplied to me
06:01 There my burdened soul found liberty
06:06 At Calvary
06:12 At Calvary
06:25 A song that I learned,
06:26 another one just when I was very young
06:28 is a song I used to play as a piano solo.
06:32 And I thought that it would be nice to end the song
06:34 in the program,
06:36 into this program with this song every week.
06:40 So I hope you don't get tired of it,
06:42 we'll just sing the chorus in others programs,
06:46 but on this one, let's sing all the verses.
06:49 There is some good stuff in this, all right.
06:53 "He Keeps Me Singing".
07:00 There's within my heart a melody
07:04 Jesus whispers sweet and low
07:08 Fear not, I am with thee, peace, be still
07:12 In all of life's ebb and flow
07:16 Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
07:20 Sweetest name I know
07:25 Fills my every longing
07:29 Keeps me singing as I go
07:35 All my life was wrecked by sin and strife
07:39 Discord filled my heart with pain
07:43 Jesus swept across the broken strings
07:47 Stirred the slumbering chords again
07:50 I'm singing Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
07:55 Sweetest name I know
07:59 Fills my every longing
08:03 Keeps me singing as I go
08:09 Though sometimes He leads through waters deep
08:13 Trials fall across the way
08:17 Though sometimes the path seems rough and steep
08:22 See His footprints all the way
08:25 I'm singing Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
08:30 Sweetest name I know
08:34 Fills my every longing keeps me singing as I go
08:40 Sing that chorus again.
08:59 Feasting on the riches of His grace
09:03 Resting 'neath His sheltering wing
09:07 Always looking on His smiling face
09:11 That is why I shout and sing
09:16 Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
09:19 Sweetest name I know
09:23 Fills my every longing keeps me singing as I go
09:30 And we've got one more verse.
09:32 I like it the best.
09:33 O soon He's coming back to welcome me
09:38 Far beyond the starry sky
09:42 I shall wing my flight to worlds unknown
09:46 I shall reign with Him on high
09:50 O Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
09:55 Sweetest name I know
09:59 Fills my every longing
10:04 Keeps me singing as I go
10:08 He keeps me singing
10:11 As I go
10:36 That's my prayer for you
10:38 that Christ stirs up a song within you
10:40 that you can't keep from singing.
10:42 I want to thank you so much
10:43 for spending the time with me today.
10:45 I hope that I've played a song that has maybe struck a chord
10:47 in your memory
10:49 or struck a chord in your heart.
10:50 Songs, we can't live without songs,
10:52 music is such a vital part of our lives,
10:54 and I hope that you will be singing
10:57 these songs and others.
10:58 In fact, when you sing a song you think of it,
11:01 please email me at tim.parton@3abn.org.
11:05 That's 3abn.org.
11:07 And send it to me, I'll try to get in it,
11:09 I'll learn it and we'll sing it together.
11:13 And also if you don't mind,
11:14 maybe recording you singing that song,
11:17 your favorite song on a phone
11:19 and send me the video, I'd love to hear it.
11:22 I get some of the most precious emails from you, our visitors.
11:26 Thank you so much for watching Your Favorites by Request
11:29 and come back next time, all right.
11:39 Send me your song
