00:01 Welcome to Your Favorites By Request
00:02 with me, Tim Parton.
00:04 You send me your favorite songs
00:06 and I'm ready to play while you sing along.
00:10 And if you don't remember all the words, don't worry,
00:12 they're on the screen.
00:14 And now, Your Favorites By Request.
00:17 Your Favorite By Request La-la-la
00:21 I'm embarrassed to admit this,
00:22 but I can't tell you
00:24 how many times I've looked for my glasses
00:25 or my phone
00:26 and they were right there on my head
00:28 or in my hand.
00:30 Have you ever looked for something so intently
00:33 searching high and low,
00:35 and it was obviously right there in front of you?
00:38 While the writer of this song can relate
00:41 as his search for an inner peace
00:43 resulted in an answer that was there all along.
00:47 I hope you like this song.
00:57 Time after time
01:00 I went searching for peace
01:03 in some void
01:06 I was trying to blame All my ills on this world
01:13 I was in
01:18 Surface relationships
01:21 used me 'til I was done in
01:28 And all the while someone
01:31 Was begging to free me from sin
01:38 He was there all the time
01:47 He was there all the time
01:55 Waiting patiently in line
02:03 He was there all the time
02:17 Never again
02:20 will I look for a fake rainbow's end
02:26 Now that I have the answer
02:30 My life is just starting to rhyme
02:38 Sharing each new day with Him
02:42 Is a cup of fresh wine
02:48 And oh what I missed
02:51 He's been waiting right there all the time
02:58 He was there all the time
03:07 He was there all the time
03:15 Waiting patiently in line
03:25 He was there all the time
03:34 He was there all the time
03:44 You might file that song under lessons learned.
03:49 There are a lot of songs that teach us lessons,
03:53 and this is a lesson that I'm learning.
03:57 And you probably are too.
04:00 Sing this with me.
04:03 Learning to lean
04:08 Learning to lean
04:12 I'm learning to lean on Jesus
04:21 Finding more power
04:26 than I've ever dreamed
04:30 I'm learning to lean on Jesus
04:43 Sad time at an alter I knelt
04:50 I found peace that was so serene
05:00 And all that He asks is a child like trust
05:08 And a heart that is learning to lean
05:18 Learning to lean
05:23 Learning to lean
05:27 I'm learning to lean on Jesus
05:37 Finding more power
05:42 than I've ever dreamed
05:46 I'm learning to lean on Jesus
05:59 There is a glorious victory
06:04 each day now for me
06:08 I've found sweet peace
06:10 that is so serene
06:17 He helps with each task
06:22 if I'll only ask Everyday now
06:29 I'm learning to lean
06:35 Oh, I'm learning to lean
06:42 Learning to lean
06:45 I'm learning to lean on Jesus
06:55 I'm finding more power than I've ever dreamed
07:05 I'm learning to lean on Jesus
07:22 What a lesson to learn, right?
07:25 You know,
07:26 you may be going through something
07:28 that you've never gone through before
07:31 and you're having to learn to depend on Him.
07:35 There's a song that we used to sing.
07:37 There are a lot of songs that are popular
07:40 because of their chorus.
07:41 And maybe that's the only part
07:43 that really anyone knows is the chorus.
07:46 But this request was sent in, it's called Got Any Rivers.
07:51 That's the name of the song.
07:52 And I remember singing this chorus in church
07:54 when I was a kid.
07:57 And it says,
07:58 Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
08:00 Got any mountains you can't tunnel through?
08:03 God specializes in things thought impossible
08:07 and He can do what no other power can do.
08:12 And as I was preparing for this program,
08:14 I actually found this song in a hymnal
08:19 and didn't realize that it had verses,
08:21 but they're wonderful verses
08:22 and I just want to quote them to you,
08:26 read them, I guess to you.
08:27 It's about the story of Joshua.
08:30 I never knew that this had verses, but it says,
08:33 "Be of good courage God spoken unto Joshua.
08:36 When o'er the river God pointed the way.
08:40 Jordan uncrossable, things seemed impossible.
08:44 Waters divide as the march and obey."
08:48 In the second verse,
08:50 "Battles to win,
08:51 they would meet with their obstacles.
08:54 Jericho's walls, too,
08:56 must fall to the ground.
08:59 God never failed.
09:00 He stood back of his promises.
09:03 Walls had to crumble as they marched around."
09:07 That's good.
09:09 It's a great telling of that story of Joshua.
09:11 And then the third verse,
09:12 last verse relates to me and you.
09:15 "God is the same and His Word is dependable.
09:19 He'll make a way through the waters for you.
09:22 Life's situations by Him are amendable.
09:27 Mountains and hills He will part for you too."
09:34 And this is the chorus.
09:37 Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
09:47 Got any mountains, you cannot tunnel through?
09:56 God specializes in things thought impossible
10:07 And He can do what no other power can do
10:18 Sing that chorus again.
10:19 Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
10:30 Got any mountains,
10:34 you can't tunnel through?
10:40 God specializes in things thought impossible
10:50 And He can do what no other power can do
11:06 So whatever you're going through,
11:08 this song will be of encouragement.
11:11 You may feel down and feel like God
11:16 Has somehow forgotten
11:21 That you are faced with circumstances
11:26 You can't get through
11:31 But now it seems that there's no way out
11:36 And you're going under
11:41 God's proven time and time again
11:46 He'll take care of you
11:51 And He'll do it again for you
11:56 He'll do it again
12:02 Just take a look at where you Are now
12:06 and where you have been
12:11 Hasn't He always come through for you
12:17 He's the same now as then
12:22 You may not know how
12:24 You may not know when
12:27 But He'll do it again
12:33 God knows the things
12:35 that you're going through
12:37 And He knows how you're hurting
12:42 You see,
12:44 He knows just how your heart
12:47 Has been broken in two
12:52 But He's the God of the stars, of the sun
12:58 And He is your Father You see,
13:03 He can calm the storm And He can fix it for you
13:12 He'll do it again for you
13:17 He'll do it again
13:23 Just take a look at where you Are now
13:28 and where you have been
13:32 Hasn't He always come through
13:36 for you He's the same now as then
13:43 You may not know how You may not know when
13:48 But He'll do it again
13:52 You may not know how
13:55 You may not know when
13:58 But He'll do it again
14:05 If you're leaning on Him, if you're trusting in Him,
14:09 any river that you think is uncrossable,
14:14 He'll make it crossable and He'll see you through.
14:16 Come back and sing with us again
14:18 after this message.
