God bless you. 04:41 I've known you a long time, both of you. 04:44 We've been looking forward to this evening. 04:46 Just getting a chance to hang out together 04:47 and share this music. 04:49 Getting the call from the one. 04:50 Wow, I'm ready, I'm ready. 04:52 Now they call you 04:54 the 'Bing Crosby of Gospel Music.' 04:55 Why do they do that? 04:57 I think it's because they wanna tease me. 04:59 I think that's just the idea. You know, I'm a big target. 05:02 But I don't know, it's just the low voice, 05:04 I guess. 05:05 And they desire and the croon-ability 05:07 that the voice... 05:09 Croon-ability, that's a new word. 05:10 Sort of gravitates towards so... 05:11 You're crazy. Yes. 05:13 Well, tonight... 05:14 John, what will you be singing for us tonight? 05:17 Well, Christmas is a time of year that... 05:20 For me, you really get to celebrate family, 05:24 you know, in addition to all the things 05:26 that Christmas means. 05:27 Man, I had a daughter, you know this, 05:29 I had a daughter that was born Christmas Eve. 05:31 So Christmas is really a big family time for us. 05:34 So I just wanna share some songs 05:37 that help us make the connection 05:39 between the gift of family and the gift of the Savior. 05:42 Yeah. Yes. 05:43 You know, do a few songs that talk about that, tonight. 05:45 Do you double up on the gifts? 05:48 For the daughter that is... 05:49 Well, you know, we tried to train her early. 05:53 It's okay, these are my Christmas... 05:54 These are Christmas and these are, yeah, 05:56 we try to lower the expectations. 05:57 So we'll see what happens. 05:59 I think that's starting to wear off 06:00 as she's getting older. 06:02 She'll be 12 this year and I think that... 06:04 I don't think it's gonna last much longer. 06:05 Longer. 06:07 She's gonna come over and, yeah. 06:08 So what songs are you gonna do? 06:09 So I'm singing a song called, 'Only on Christmas day', 06:13 that starts all talking about, you know, 06:16 my grandmother in the kitchen... 06:17 Oh, wow. 06:18 And, yeah, those great Christmas meals, 06:20 you know, and then there's another song... 06:21 That song you wrote her... 06:23 That is the song that I wrote with a dear friend of mine 06:24 named, Hallerin Hill. 06:25 Oh, yeah. Wonderful songwriter. 06:27 Yes. 06:28 And the second song I did write, 06:30 it's a song called, 'Loved from a Star'... 06:31 Yeah. 06:33 That just really celebrates this idea of, 06:35 when you think of how far away God was from us 06:39 and He spanned that gap, I mean, 06:41 He decided that, man, I'm gonna come and meet you 06:44 where you are and what would we have done, 06:47 you know, where would we be if He hadn't done that, 06:50 if He hadn't taken the initiative 06:52 to reach out for us 06:54 when we weren't in a position to help ourselves, you know, 06:57 and then I'm gonna end with a great, 06:59 just Christmas song, 'Angels We Have Heard On High.' 07:01 Yeah. 07:02 I think Christmas isn't Christmas 07:04 without those old favorites that you grew up with... 07:05 That's right. 07:06 Those old hymns, there's nothing like it. 07:08 Yeah. 07:10 That's right, and how about you, Steve, 07:11 what you're gonna sing for us tonight? 07:13 Well, I'm so happy to be doing one of my favorite songs, 07:14 it's been part of my repertoire for many years and it's 'Mary, 07:17 did you know' and I love that song so much 07:20 'cause when I sing and I think about my mom. 07:24 When we think about Christmas, 07:25 there's an awful lot of subject matter there 07:27 and we can think about, you know, 07:29 the wise men and the shepherds and Herod and whatever, 07:33 but, you know, Mary was there. 07:34 Yeah. 07:36 You know, what did she go through? 07:37 But not only that night, but watching everything else 07:40 and being a parent now and now a grandparent 07:44 and having some issues in our family 07:46 with both of my children that are quite serious. 07:50 You realize, 07:52 what it must be for God to look down on us 07:55 and wish the best for us and know in some cases, 07:58 He can't intervene 08:00 because of the laws of this great controversy. 08:03 But Mary was there and she was seeing those things 08:07 and being hurt and it just reminds me of my mom. 08:09 My mom raised three boys, all by herself. 08:13 When I was seven, 08:14 our dad put us in a car and said, you know, be gone. 08:19 And so there were some tough times and there is, 08:23 Christmas time is the time where we focus on family too 08:26 and for me, it's a focus and it does focus on family 08:29 but it doesn't necessarily find a Norman Rockwell painting, 08:34 when it comes in to view and our... 08:37 My early life was certainly one of a lot of hardship 08:41 and financial stress, 08:43 my mom working two jobs and whatever, so... 08:47 'Mary, did you know' helps me connect to the good women 08:52 that have made the holiday season 08:54 what it's all about and then it all began in Bethlehem. 08:58 I love that concept because to me, 09:00 Bethlehem is not those beautifully decorated scenes 09:03 in front of the banks and the churches. 09:06 It's a place of filth and sort of, 09:09 a failed beginning. 09:10 I mean, just think 09:12 what Jesus' birth could have been, 09:13 if people were prepared and had read the prophecies 09:16 and they awaited His arrival, you know, but 'no, 09:20 ' He was born in a place as synonymous with filth. 09:23 But look what He made of His life 09:25 and so when I realize that God began in Bethlehem, 09:28 I realize that He can take anyone, 09:30 who will let Christ be born in their heart, 09:33 then all of a sudden, 09:34 that manger or that heart takes on a whole new meaning. 09:39 I mean, I've seen crystals of that little manger, 09:42 you know, in gold pieces 09:44 and in paintings worth 09:45 a hundreds of thousands of dollars. 09:47 What changed? 09:49 Jesus... 09:50 Came in. 09:52 And so those are the songs you're gonna be doing tonight? 09:54 And then the final song is, 'An evening in December'. 09:58 Okay, well, out of all other songs 10:00 that I'm gonna be doing, I think, 10:02 the one that stands out for me 10:03 is a song that asks the question, 10:07 that really every Christmas, 10:10 we all get a chance to answer. 10:13 'Is the King who was born in a manger, 10:18 Lord of your heart?' 10:22 That's why Jesus came to earth. 10:25 He came to be Lord of our hearts. 10:31 And so as you listen to the music tonight, 10:33 I hope that you're inspired, uplifted and blessed. 10:38 I hope this will warm your Christmas cheer 10:42 and that you feel 10:43 that this is the most wonderful evening 10:45 you've spent at Christmas. 11:23 As I wait here in this evening in December 11:29 I remember how it felt to be a child 11:36 This old house still feels the same 11:40 All the family will be here 11:43 In just a while 11:50 I hope daddy gets here first 11:53 To build the fire 11:56 'Cause he's the only one who has That special touch 12:03 Then my sister with her kids 12:07 And my grandma 12:09 Whom I love So very much 12:16 Oh, I'm glad we'll be together 12:20 On this evening in December 12:24 We'll watch the falling snow 12:28 And hold each other close I'm so glad we'll be together 12:34 For an evening to remember 12:38 On this night 12:41 On this December night 12:59 Sometimes out on the road It gets so lonely 13:07 'Cause I miss those special people I hold dear 13:13 Though our calendars are full 13:16 At least for this one night 13:21 We'll all be here 13:27 How the children love This evening in December 13:33 And while the smallest ones Are playing on the floor 13:40 There's a warmth I can't explain 13:44 As I feel the love of those 13:47 Who've gone before 13:53 Oh, I'm glad we're be together 13:57 On this evening in December 14:01 We'll watch the falling snow 14:04 And hold each other close 14:07 I'm so glad we'll be together 14:11 For an evening to remember 14:15 On this night 14:17 On this December 14:23 Night 14:29 Keep the fire burning here 14:37 Until we all come back 14:41 Next year 14:46 And I'm glad we're here together 14:50 On this evening in December 14:54 We'll watch the falling snow 14:57 And hold each other close 15:00 I'm so glad we're here together 15:04 For an evening to remember 15:08 On this night 15:11 On this December 15:19 Night 16:07 There's a star in the east 16:11 On Christmas morn 16:15 Rise up, shepherd, and follow 16:21 It will lead to the place where Christ is born 16:29 Rise up, shepherd, and follow 16:35 Follow, follow 16:42 Rise up, shepherd 16:45 And follow 16:49 Follow the star of Bethlehem 16:56 Rise up, good heed 17:46 To the angel's words 17:51 Rise up, shepherd, and follow 17:56 You'll forget your flocks 18:00 You'll forget your herds 18:05 Rise up, shepherd, and follow 18:11 Follow, follow 18:18 Rise up, shepherd, and follow 18:24 Follow the star of Bethlehem. 18:32 Rise up, shepherd, and follow 18:39 Follow, follow 18:46 Rise up, shepherd, and follow 18:52 Follow the star 18:55 Of Bethlehem. 19:02 Rise up, shepherd 19:05 And follow 19:10 Rise up, shepherd, and follow 19:25 Follow, follow 19:32 Follow 19:48 Rise up, shepherd 19:53 And follow 20:26 Colored lights and snowflakes 20:30 Dancing in the wind 20:35 It's another Christmas holiday 20:40 About to begin 20:45 Candy cans and presents 20:50 Carols round the tree 20:54 Where on top the silver star shining 20:58 Is all the world at peace 21:03 It's my favorite time of year 21:07 For reasons not so plain to see 21:13 Long ago on Christmas eve 21:18 Love was born for me 21:21 'Cause you were in heaven 21:26 I was on earth 21:31 But when I needed you here 21:35 You sent a baby so dear 21:40 In a manger 21:45 On the hay 21:49 You sent me love from a star, Christmas day 22:04 The world is full of sadness 22:09 So much pain and tragedy 22:13 Still there shines a star of hope 22:17 Inside of you and me 22:24 If we could just be blinded 22:28 By what tears us all apart 22:32 We could see beyond the outside 22:37 And look straight into the heart 22:42 For what Christmas means 22:44 Is more than just some tinsel on a tree 22:52 Long ago, on Christmas eve love was born for me 23:00 'Cause you were in heaven 23:04 Oh, yeah, I was on earth 23:10 When I needed you here 23:14 You sent a baby so dear 23:19 In a manger 23:24 On the hay 23:28 You sent me love from a star, Christmas day 23:36 Yeah 23:37 Oh, you were in heaven, oooo 23:42 I was on earth 23:48 When I needed you here 23:52 You sent a baby so dear 23:56 In a manger 24:01 On the hay 24:06 You sent me love 24:08 From a star, Christmas day 24:15 You where angels trod? 26:41 And when you kiss your little Baby 26:47 You've kissed the face of God? 26:52 Mary, did you know 27:02 The blind will see 27:05 The deaf will hear 27:07 The dead will live again 27:12 O, The lame will leap 27:14 And the dumb will speak the praises of The Lamb 27:22 Mary, did you know 27:28 That your Baby Boy is Lord of all creation? 27:34 Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy 27:40 Will one day rule the nations? 27:45 Did you know that your Baby Boy 27:51 Was heaven's 27:54 Perfect Lamb? 28:00 And the sleeping Child 28:04 You're holding 28:07 Is the Great 28:13 I am 28:27 Ooh 28:35 Mary, did you know 29:04 Go, tell it on the mountain 29:08 Over the hills and everywhere 29:12 Go, tell it on the mountain 29:16 That Jesus Christ is born 29:20 I said to, Go, tell it on the mountain 29:25 Over the hills and everywhere 29:29 Go, tell it on the mountain 29:33 That Jesus Christ is born 29:38 While shepherds kept their watching 29:42 Over silent flocks by night 29:47 Behold throughout the heavens 29:51 There shone a holy light 29:57 Go, tell it on the mountain 30:02 Over the hills and everywhere 30:06 Go, tell it on the mountain 30:10 That Jesus Christ is born 30:15 Down in a lowly manger 30:19 The humble Christ was born 30:23 And brought us our salvation 30:28 That blessed Christmas morn 30:35 That blessed Christmas morn 30:39 Go, tell it on the mountain 30:43 Over the hills and everywhere 30:47 Go, tell it on the mountain 30:51 That Jesus Christ is born 30:55 I said to, Go, tell it on the mountain 31:00 Over the hills and everywhere 31:04 Go, tell it on the mountain 31:08 That Jesus Christ is born 31:12 That Jesus Christ is born 31:17 That Jesus Christ 31:21 Is born 31:47 No matter how things look 31:52 The truth is now all said and done 31:58 The Father God, He loved His Son 32:10 He loved the human race as well 32:15 And sent His Son to them to dwell 32:21 And die and rise again 32:25 It all began in Bethlehem. 32:30 A humble birth in a manger bare 32:35 Found this newborn king 32:39 And of His love the angels sing. 32:47 With songs of praise the earth still rings 32:53 In worship of Christ the King 32:57 It all began 33:01 In Bethlehem 33:06 It all began in Bethlehem 33:21 The shepherds watched their flocks 33:25 Lost in winter's long, deep night 33:30 When they saw 33:33 A heavenly light 33:39 Then they drew close with reverent fear 33:46 As angels sang the message clear 33:50 Of a King born to them 33:55 That night there in Bethlehem 34:00 A humble birth in a manger bare 34:05 Found this newborn king 34:09 And of His love the angels sing 34:17 With songs of praise the earth still rings 34:23 In worship of Christ the King 34:28 It all began 34:33 In Bethlehem 34:37 It all began 34:43 In Bethlehem 35:36 Some children see Him lily white 35:42 The Savior Jesus born this night 35:49 Some children see Him lily white 35:55 With tresses soft and fair 36:09 Some children see Him bronzed and brown 36:17 The Lord of heaven to earth come down 36:24 Some children see Him bronzed and brown 36:31 With dark 36:33 And heavy hair 36:39 Some children see Him almond-eyed 36:47 The Savior whom we kneel beside 36:54 Some children see Him almond-eyed 37:01 With skin 37:03 Of yellow hue 37:10 Some children see Him dark as they 37:17 Sweet Mary's Boy 37:19 To whom we pray 37:25 Some children see Him dark as they 37:33 And how they love Him, 37:35 Too 37:41 The children The children 37:47 The children in each different place 37:54 Will see the baby Jesus' face 38:01 Like theirs, but bright with heavenly grace 38:09 And how they love Him 38:12 Too 38:18 So lay aside each earthly thing 38:25 And with thy heart 38:28 As offering 38:36 Come worship now 38:40 The infant King 38:45 'Tis love 38:47 That's born tonight 39:30 There in the kitchen 39:33 In front of the stove 39:36 Grandmom's cooking 39:38 And She's got food on her clothes 39:41 I smell turkey and dressing 39:45 And my favorite apple pie 39:47 And she seasons the moment 39:51 With a tear in her eye 39:54 And I feel her emotion because 39:59 The meaning of Christmas 40:02 Changed what she was 40:06 Only on Christmas day 40:11 She found a star To show her the way 40:17 To the cross And the price that He paid 40:23 To give her this hope 40:26 On this Christmas day 40:29 Then for the first time 40:33 All became clear 40:36 There was much more to this day 40:39 Than just snow and reindeer 40:41 More than the sleigh bells the carols and gifts 40:47 Because He took our sorrows 40:50 For much more than this 40:54 And it marks the beginning of my new life 40:58 Oh, yes, it did now I live forever 41:02 Because He lived to die 41:06 Only on Christmas day 41:11 I found a star To show me the way 41:17 To the cross And the price that He paid 41:23 To give me this hope 41:26 On this Christmas day 41:29 Now you can take all the presents 41:32 That hung near the tree 41:35 Just give me Jesus for eternity 41:42 Ooooooo, yeah 41:53 Ooo, yeah, yeah 41:57 Oooooooo 42:03 Only on Christmas day 42:11 I found a star 42:14 To show me the way 42:17 To the cross And the price that He paid 42:23 To give me this all 42:27 On this Christmas day. 42:35 I found a star To show me the way 42:41 To the cross And the price that He paid 42:47 To give me this all 42:52 Only on Christmas day 42:59 I found a star To show me the way 43:05 To the cross And the price that He paid 43:12 To give me this all 43:17 On this Christmas day 44:00 It's Christmas time 44:02 And you will find His love is everywhere 44:10 While shepherds watched Their flocks by night 44:14 The star shone all around 44:19 Jesus came to earth 44:24 Born of Mary Prince of Peace, 44:31 Immanuel I love to tell His story 44:39 And now the King 44:44 Born in a manger 44:48 Is Lord of my heart 44:54 Now the King born in a manger 45:01 Is Lord of my heart 45:14 It's Christmas time 45:16 And you will find His love is everywhere 45:24 The wise men came to see His face 45:29 And glory shone around 45:34 Jesus came to earth 45:39 Born of Mary Prince of Peace, 45:46 Immanuel I love to tell His story 45:53 And now the King 45:58 Born in a manger 46:03 Is Lord of my heart 46:08 Now the King born in a manger 46:15 Is Lord of my heart 46:21 Is the King 46:24 Born in a manger 46:29 Lord of your heart? 46:34 Is the King born in a manger 46:41 Lord 46:45 Of your heart? 47:37 Angels we have heard on high 47:43 Sweetly singing o'er the plains 47:49 And the mountains in reply 47:54 Echoing their joyous strains 47:59 Glory, glory 48:05 Gloria 48:10 In excelsis Deo 48:15 Glory, glory 48:21 Gloria 48:26 In excelsis Deo 48:43 Shepherds, why this jubilee? 48:49 Why your glorious strains prolong? 48:54 What the gladsome tidings be 49:00 Which inspire your heav'nly song? 49:05 Glory, glory 49:11 Gloria 49:16 In excelsis Deo 49:22 Glory, glory 49:28 Glory, gloria 49:32 In excelsis Deo 50:00 Come to Bethlehem and see Him 50:06 Whose birth the angels sing
