00:01 Gloria,
00:07 in excelsis Deo. 06:57 It's here, it's finally here. Christmas has come. 07:01 I just love Christmas, don't you? 07:03 I love the presents, I love the food, 07:06 I especially love the weather, the cold weather, 07:09 I love the decorations. 07:11 I just love everything. 07:13 And especially when it comes to presents. 07:16 I like receiving the gifts, and also giving them. 07:20 Can you think of anything I left out? 07:22 Hmm. 07:24 Oh yes, it is Jesus' birthday in this season. 07:28 Well, although December 25 isn't His actual birthday, 07:33 but this time of year we celebrate His birthday. 07:37 But sometimes, you know, we get caught up in the 07:40 decorations, and the parties, and the food, 07:43 and all of the presents, and sometimes we forget 07:47 what Christmas is truly about. 07:50 And that reminds me of a story I know. 07:54 This story is about a boy who always wanted 07:57 to go to the circus. 07:58 And lucky enough, one day he was walking down the street, 08:01 and then he saw a sign. 08:03 And this sign told him that a circus was coming to his town. 08:07 And he got super excited. 08:09 He was really excited because he found out 08:11 it only cost one dollar. 08:13 So he took the poster home and ran to his dad. 08:16 And he said, "Dad, please, dad, please, help me 08:20 and let me go to this circus." 08:23 His father told him, "You have to work for 08:26 what you're going to get." 08:27 And he sighed and he said, "Okay, dad." 08:31 And so his dad told him, "You have to do chores 08:34 early on Sunday morning, and then I'll give you 08:36 your one dollar bill." 08:38 And he was super excited, he said, "Okay." 08:40 And so early on that Sunday morning he woke up, 08:44 did all of his chores, I mean all of his chores, 08:47 and maybe even a little extra, and he got that one dollar bill. 08:51 So he headed off to the circus. 08:53 He was super excited. 08:54 And he got there so early that he was in the front of the line. 08:58 He saw the trapeze artist walk through, 09:01 the clowns, all the people who do those weird flexible things, 09:05 the wild animal tamers, and he was just 09:08 loving what he was seeing. 09:10 And then he saw the cool ring master. 09:13 So he got out of his line and he ran to the ring master 09:17 and he took out his folded dollar bill 09:19 and he handed it to him. 09:20 "Thanks, mister," the boy said. 09:22 "That was a very great parade." 09:25 And then he turned around and walked home. 09:27 He never realized what he had missed. 09:29 He had only seen the parade, he hadn't gone to the circus. 09:33 He just saw the people walk in and he didn't even 09:36 get a chance to see the circus. 09:38 And he paid his one dollar, he did his chores, 09:41 and all he saw was the parade. 09:44 Sometimes we must be careful to not be like this boy. 09:48 We get caught up in all the celebration and the parade 09:52 that we forget to remember what the real thing is. 09:55 For Christmas, we get caught up in the decoration, 09:59 the food, the presents, that we forget what the real point 10:03 of Christmas is. 10:05 And that is the birth of our Savior. 10:08 Our verse, Isaiah 9:6, says, "For unto us a Child is born, 10:15 a Son is given to us, and the government 10:19 will rest on His shoulder. 10:21 These will be His world titles: 10:23 Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, 10:26 Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace." 10:30 This is our wonderful celebration 10:32 that we should be celebrating this season. 10:35 God sent His one and only Son, Jesus, 10:39 to save us from all our sin. 10:41 He saved the whole entire humanity. 10:45 And ladies and gentlemen, that's the greatest gift of all. 14:06 Gloria, 14:11 in excelsis Deo. 14:15 Gloria, 14:22 in excelsis Deo. |
