Let's start off with a question first. 10:51 Have any of you every built a sand castle? And maybe because 10:56 there were a lot of people watching you may have not built 11:00 a sand castle before. Maybe you've built a snow castle 11:03 before. Or picked up a bunch of snow and built it into little 11:07 snow balls. Well of course I live in California so I can't 11:11 build a snow castle or snow balls. So today we will be 11:16 talking about sand castles. One time I went to the beach with my 11:20 church friends and, it's the beach, let's build a sand castle 11:24 So I took a little time building molding a sand castle, then it 11:29 got hit by a wave. So then I decided to move back a little 11:34 bit further and decided to mold it together, put the water back 11:39 in it and it was finally perfect And as any excited person would 11:46 do, I jumped up and was super excited that I decided to tell 11:50 my friends because I'd say it was a pretty good sand castle. 11:53 But because it's the beach and it has so many exciting things 11:57 I got a little bit distracted and as I started to play in the 12:03 water, I forgot about the sand castle. So I ran back without 12:06 even telling my friends that I'd built a sand castle. And guess 12:10 what? My sand castle was destroyed. I got so distracted 12:16 with my friends and playing in the water because it's a beach 12:19 that I forgot to check on my sand castle and my beautiful 12:23 piece of art was destroyed. Sometimes our sand castles are 12:29 like talents from God, gifts from God. We mold them up, we 12:35 practice our talents. We take time to build our sand castles 12:39 our talents and then we go off and we get distracted and when 12:44 we come back our sand castles, our talents, are gone. You know 12:50 God can do this to us if we don't use our talents and we get 12:54 distracted playing with the water, "water," or going off 12:58 with our friends and forgetting about our talents, when we come 13:01 back God has taken away those talents. Little drummer boy 13:07 practiced and practiced so he can play his drum well. This can 13:11 be like us. We could be the little drummer boy and practice 13:14 and practice our talents so we can perform them well. So right 13:19 now I want you to think about your talent. It could be two, it 13:24 could be three, it could be four or many be even one or skip to 13:28 ten. But whatever talent it is we should remember that God 13:33 gave them to us so that we can use them for Him and so that we 13:38 can practice so that our sand castles don't get destroyed. 13:42 Let's look at Romans 12 verses 6-8. Starting at verse 6 it says 13:49 In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing 13:54 certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to 13:58 prophesy speak out with as much faith as God had give you. If 14:03 your gift is serving others serve them well. If you are a 14:07 teacher teach well. If your gift is to encourage others be 14:10 encouraging. If it to giving, give generously. If God has 14:15 given you leadership ability take the responsibility 14:19 seriously and if you have a gift for showing kindness to others 14:23 do it gladly. I challenge you today to follow what this verse 14:29 says. If you have talents then practice them, practice them 14:32 well and remember that God gave them to you. So use them for Him 14:39 Remember don't ruin your sand castles. 14:42 Thank you Logan for that thought It's true. Sometimes we destroy 14:46 our sand castles. We feel we have nothing to give and often 14:50 we get discouraged. Yet that is why Jesus came to the earth. 14:54 He wanted to bring comfort and joy.
