00:37 Good evening friends, welcome to Amazing Adventure,
00:40 a Journey for Life with Jesus. My name is Jean Ross,
00:43 I will be your host for this Bible study experience.
00:47 I would like to welcome all of those who are
00:49 watching around the country and around the world.
00:52 We have people watching as far away as Australia,
00:54 South Africa, India, all over the world.
00:58 And we want to welcome all of you to this very
01:00 special program. We're coming to you live from
01:03 Richardson, Texas. And I'd like to welcome our local
01:06 audience here as well. All of the children that have
01:09 joined us here. And you can notice they're all
01:11 wearing some very nice T-shirt, T-shirts that
01:14 say Amazing Adventure. For those of you who are
01:18 watching, if you would like to get a T-shirt
01:20 for your site. I'd encouraged you to go to the
01:22 amazingfactskids website, amazingfactskids.org.
01:28 We also have some very exciting lessons that go
01:32 along with the presentations from night-to-night.
01:34 This evening's study is entitled, The Treasure Map.
01:38 And there is a lesson that goes along with this
01:40 presentation. For those of you who are watching

02:10 information on that as well.
02:12 Well, friends we believe in prayer,
02:14 and here at our local site in Texas,
02:17 we're gonna be praying, there is somebody
02:19 who wants to come to this program,
02:21 but he is not invited, his name is Ike.
02:24 Well, Ike's not a real person, he's actually a
02:27 hurricane. We have a hurricane that's bringing
02:30 the Gulf, making its way towards the coast
02:33 and probably tomorrow we'll begin to feel the winds
02:37 and the rain from the hurricane Ike.
02:39 Those of you who are watching,
02:40 please pray for us, we're praying that they won't
02:42 be power outage. So that we'll be able to do
02:45 tomorrow's program. We also would like to at this
02:48 time invite our singers to come forward;
02:51 we have a special theme song that we'll be
02:54 singing throughout the program,
02:55 The Amazing Adventures singers
02:57 will lead us in our theme song.
03:02 Please stand, and lets sing.
03:06 Life is an adventure Following the King

03:55 Life is so amazing Following the King
04:02 Now, some of you are hearing this for the
04:04 first time. Now, if you want to learn a new song,
04:07 you've got to sing it a couple of times and since
04:09 this is short. Why don't we do that one
04:10 more time would that be okay Kelly?
04:17 Life is an adventure Following the King
04:22 Everyday with Jesus Makes us want to sing

05:07 Life is so amazing Following the King
05:14 Please remain standing, as we have our scripture
05:16 reading this evening, if you look in front of you,
05:18 you will see a Bible in the pew. You can take out
05:21 that Bible and turned to Psalm 119, verse 105.
05:26 And Manasseh Emanuel will be reading
05:28 our scripture reading for us tonight.
05:32 "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a
05:34 light unto, and a light unto my path."
05:37 Read that one more time for us.
05:38 "Your word is a lamp unto my feet
05:40 and a light unto my path." Thank you, very much.
05:43 I'm gonna ask you to bow your heads for
05:45 prayer as, Ashera brings us our prayer.
05:49 Bow your heads as we pray. Dear, God thank you
05:53 that the people that are here were able to get
05:55 here safely. Please help us to understand
05:58 and learn more about you, in Jesus name, amen.
06:02 Amen, amen. Well, I'd like to welcome our speaker
06:05 Pastor Doug Batchelor, president of Amazing Facts.
06:08 Pastor Doug, we are so excited about this,
06:10 I know we've been working on this program for quite
06:13 a while, and it's finally here. You can sit also.
06:16 Oh! That's right; you don't have to stand
06:18 through the whole program.
06:19 You're a very obedient group, thank you.
06:22 Alright, well, let's take a few Bible questions,
06:25 as we get started in the program tonight.
06:26 Part of each program, we're gonna give you an
06:28 opportunity to ask questions about the Bible,
06:31 we're beginning the most important adventure in life.
06:34 This adventure, successful leads to eternity.
06:39 And so nothing can be a more important than that.
06:42 And so, we want to encourage all of our friends,
06:44 who are here at our local church, and all of our
06:45 friends who are watching around the world,
06:47 if you got questions about the Bible or about God,
06:50 we'd encourage you to send them in.
06:52 We've got a few that have been pre-recorded
06:54 for the first nights program from Sacramento.
06:57 And we want to give you an opportunity,
06:58 some of you might email a picture of yourself with
07:01 the question. They've got the technology;
07:03 maybe they could even send a little video real quick.
07:06 They know how to do that on YouTube.
07:07 And we want to get your Bible questions,
07:10 but tonight I think we're priming the pump a little
07:12 because we got a few prepared.
07:14 We do, we have two video questions this evening.
07:17 So, if all the equipment works correctly,
07:19 we'll roll that question right now, alright.
07:22 Where is the original Bible? Okay, that's
07:25 Nathaniel in Sacramento who is asking,
07:27 where is the original Bible? This whole program
07:30 tonight is about the Bible. And it's The
07:33 Amazing Treasure Map, that's our study for tonight.
07:36 Some one might want to know where is the
07:38 original Bible? Well, the Bible originally was
07:41 given by voice, it was the word spoken by God to
07:46 Adam and Eve, and then Adam and Eve passed it
07:48 onto their children. Do you know Adam probably
07:50 had a photographic memory. He could remember
07:52 everything, but as man began to get weaker
07:56 because of sin, his memory started being affected
07:59 by that. And pretty soon, they began to write it down,
08:03 do you know, some of the first of the Bible that was
08:04 written down was written by God when he wrote
08:06 the Ten Commandments. And Moses wrote of course
08:09 the books of Genesis, and Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers,
08:12 Deuteronomy. Do you know, you see that Bible,
08:14 we got here on the stage. Anyone want to guess
08:17 how old that Bible is? Go ahead, you call out,
08:21 what's, what's your guess. Two thousand.
08:24 No, it's not quite 2,000 years old.
08:25 But it's almost 200 years old. This Bible is 1816,
08:32 1812, oh 1812. But still almost 200 years old, 190,
08:37 but anyway the Bible's been around a long time
08:41 1500 years. But we talk more about that
08:44 in our lesson tonight. Alright, well Pastor Doug
08:45 I have got a Bible question for you. Here it is.
08:49 Tell me how old are you? Can I sneak in,
08:52 these questions are reserved, okay,
08:54 I'm 12 I can get in. Alright, here is the Bible
08:55 question. What is the best way to read
08:58 and study the Bible? That's a very important
09:00 question, let me see, how many of you have a
09:03 Bible at home? Our friends that are watching,
09:07 I hope you have all got Bibles, most of you look
09:09 at that. All most of you kids have Bibles at home,
09:11 that's right, very good. Did some of you bring your own
09:13 Bibles tonight? Good for you and we hope you're
09:16 bringing your Bibles to the meetings.
09:17 We're very thank, well Review & Herald provided
09:19 some Bibles here for our local meeting.
09:21 So, the kids that come at least seven nights,
09:24 you get to take that Bible home with you at the end
09:26 of the meetings. Okay, in case you got to attend.
09:28 What was the question again? Oh! The best way
09:30 to study the Bible. That's right, the best way to
09:33 study the Bible is to start little-by-little,
09:36 you might begin in the beginning with Genesis.
09:39 And if you find out that it gets a little bit
09:42 difficult sometimes, you can jump to what
09:44 they called the New Testament.
09:45 The Bible's divided in a couple of parts here.
09:48 Three quarters of the Bible is the Old Testament.
09:51 The New Testament begins right about here;
09:56 this is the part of the Bible written before
09:58 Jesus was born, the Old Testament.
10:00 The New Testament was written after Jesus was
10:03 born. And so, you can also go to the New Testament
10:06 and read about the life of Jesus.
10:08 When God became a man, if you can't read a lot
10:11 or all at once, start with little verses.
10:16 The best way to get a good beginning in
10:19 Bible study is to have a Bible of course.
10:21 And you use the study guides that go
10:23 with this series, that will really help you.
10:25 Alright, well Pastor Doug, I think we have another
10:27 video question for this evening, alright,
10:29 so be ready for that. Did the miracles in
10:33 the Bible really happen? Okay, Shenelle from
10:37 Sacramento is asking, did the miracles in the
10:40 Bible really happen? Let me ask you,
10:41 what do you think? How many of you think that
10:43 the miracles in the Bible are true? Oh! I knew
10:47 we had a faithful crowd here tonight.
10:48 You're absolutely right. The miracles in the Bible
10:52 are true, and you know God still performs miracles
10:54 today. Did you know that? Everybody alive is a
10:58 miracle, life is a miracle. We're surrounded with
11:01 miracles all the time. But I believe in all the
11:03 miracles of the Bible, I really believe that
11:05 Jesus walked on water. I believe that he could
11:08 raise the death that he could he heal the sick.
11:10 I believe that Moses, when he stretched out his rod,
11:13 that the, the sea parted. And all these miracles
11:17 really happen. You are gonna be hearing more
11:20 about this. By the way, we're praying for a
11:22 miracle right now at this series of meetings that
11:24 the Lord will bless these meetings,
11:26 a thousand things have to work together,
11:28 that he'll bless the weather for our friends
11:30 who are watching all different parts of the
11:32 country. And that God will pour out his spirit.
11:34 I think we're gonna see some miracles.
11:36 Amen, we believe so. Well, Pastor Doug,
11:38 we have a special music at this time.
11:39 I'm gonna invite the Amazing Adventures
11:41 singers to come forward. And you will get to know
11:44 this group quite a bit over the next few nights
11:46 together, as we sing. The song that they will
11:49 be sharing with us is, "From a Child."
11:56 From a child, from a child
12:01 Thou hast known the Holy Scriptures,
12:06 Which are able to make thee wise
12:10 Wise unto salvation.
12:15 Salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
12:25 From a child, from a child
12:29 Thou hast known the Holy Scriptures,
12:34 From a child, Thou hast known the Holy Scriptures,
12:43 Which are able to make thee wise
12:53 From a child, from a child
12:58 Thou hast known the Holy Scriptures,
13:03 Which are able to make thee wise
13:08 Wise unto salvation.
13:12 Salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
13:23 From a child, from a child.
13:27 Thou hast known the Holy Scriptures.
13:40 Amen, thank you very much, that's a perfect
13:44 song for tonight 'cause we're talking tonight
13:46 about the Bible, The Treasure Map.
13:49 Now, this series Amazing Adventure is
13:53 talking about the most important thing in life.
13:56 Life is an adventure, it's the adventure of learning
13:59 how to follow Jesus and get into that city of gold.
14:03 In order to make the trip, you need a map.
14:06 And so, we're gonna talk about that map.
14:08 And I want to remind our friends that are here,
14:10 and our friends that are watching because this is
14:13 the first program, we got ten programs dealing
14:15 with this Amazing Adventure. You can
14:17 bring your friends to come, still not too
14:19 late to invite your friends, right? Maybe you have
14:22 some friends at school, or in your neighborhood
14:24 that you like to talk to and say, Wow!
14:26 We're having a great program at this home
14:28 or this church invite them because you want them
14:31 to find that city of gold that we're all going to.
14:34 Well, tonight we're gonna talk about the lesson
14:39 number one, The Treasure Map. How many of you
14:42 have ever looked for treasure before?
14:44 You ever find, yeah. I used to go digging
14:47 in my dad's backyard; we have dug a tunnel
14:49 one time, looking for treasure. Of course
14:52 I don't know why we just dug in the hillside,
14:53 we never did find anything, but it was fun looking
14:56 for the treasure. A lot of people pretend that
14:58 they've got treasure maps and they're just not real.
15:01 But some people have found real treasures in history.
15:05 Back in 1947, some boys living in the Land of Israel
15:10 were looking for a lost goat. And they saw a
15:13 little cave up against the hillside, they took a rock
15:17 and they threw the rock up in the cave just
15:19 wondering if their goat had wandered in there.
15:21 And they heard a breaking sound like,
15:23 breaking glass. So, they scrambled up to the cave
15:26 and they looked in there. And they saw that there
15:29 were some jars, and in the jars were a bunch
15:31 of scrolls. And they could see they were very old
15:34 scrolls. They thought Wow! This is like a treasure.
15:38 Nobody's been in this cave for maybe a
15:40 thousand years. It was more than a thousand years.
15:43 And so, what they did is they said, let's,
15:46 let's take some of these scrolls down and let's
15:49 take them to Bethlehem. Sell them see what
15:50 their worth. They sold some of them for $30.
15:54 Do you know how much they were worth?
15:57 Way more than $30 million? They had found the Dead
16:02 Sea scrolls; it was the oldest segments of the
16:06 Bible in existence. These boys out there looking
16:08 for goats, found treasure. And they didn't even
16:11 know what they found? You know, the Bible is a
16:15 treasure, and the most important thing I want
16:18 to share with you tonight is that, you can know
16:20 how to live forever because, if you follow
16:22 this map of the Bible. This map will tell you,
16:26 how to get to God's kingdom, it will guide
16:27 you through this life, it gives you everything
16:29 you need for happiness and eternal life?
16:32 Now, in our study we are gonna be going through
16:34 the lesson and we're gonna do it in like a question
16:36 and answer format. So, I'm gonna go right to the
16:39 lesson, let's look at question number one.
16:41 Someone might have told you that the Bible
16:44 is just a fairytale; any of you ever hear that,
16:46 no you can't believe the Bible, it's just fable
16:49 fairy tales. But can we trust that the Bible
16:52 is true? How do we know, we can trust the Bible
16:56 is true? What does the Bible say about itself?
16:58 If you got your Bibles you can look these verses up.
17:01 Matter of fact, we'll be giving you a lesson here
17:03 after the program. In the Bible it says,
17:06 All Scripture, how much? "All Scripture is given
17:10 by inspiration of God." That's Second Timothy 3:16.
17:14 The whole Bible is a message from God to you.
17:18 Any of you ever get a letter in the mail.
17:20 You excited to get a letter in the mail,
17:23 you want to open it up, you wonder what it is?
17:24 And sometimes our son Nathan, he gets a lego
17:28 magazine in the mail. He's so excited about that
17:30 magazine, he pours over, he takes it up and goes to
17:33 bed with it. And he'll be here later in the,
17:35 in these series, you will see Mrs. Batchelor
17:38 and two of the Batchelor boys. What if you had a
17:41 letter from God? How valuable would that be?
17:44 The Bible is a love letter from God to you.
17:49 And you know, it's especially interesting now
17:52 because right now you and I can buy Bibles
17:54 and we got the whole word of God.
17:55 They used to have to carry around all these camels.
17:58 I remember reading at one time about the
18:01 Grand Vizier of Persia. He had a library with
18:04 about 400,000 books in it. And he had hundreds
18:07 of camels that carried his library with him,
18:10 wherever he went. Hundreds of camels to carry his
18:13 library. Now, you could put it all on a little laptop
18:15 computer. We're lucky to have all of the word of
18:19 God together for us to study. First book ever
18:22 printed on a printing press was the Bible.
18:24 That was by Johann Gutenberg in 1456,
18:27 up till then they used to have to write the
18:30 Bibles down by hand. And the Bible's written on paper
18:33 of course, and that's where you get the word paper
18:36 comes from "Papyrus," it came from an ancient
18:39 Phoenician city called Biblos. And they made
18:43 some many books out of the Papyrus in Biblos
18:46 that they started saying, well that's a book.
18:48 And booker Biblos meant a collection of book.
18:52 And so we can get the word Bible, it's a Latin
18:55 word that means it's a collection of books.
18:57 The Bible has got a lot of books in it that tell about
19:01 God and our relationship with him.
19:03 And so that's a little bit of the history.
19:05 I told you they used to print by hand,
19:10 and then they were able to do it on a printing press
19:12 and now Bibles it's the number one book being
19:15 printed in the world today its the best seller in
19:18 history. And some countries that not allowed
19:21 to read the Bible. Mrs. Batchelor and I once
19:24 went to Russia. And we gave away hundreds
19:27 of Bibles there and the people were so excited
19:29 'cause they hadn't been able to read the Bible
19:31 in 70 years, and they were stroking and petting
19:33 the Bible. One of the most valuable Bibles is the
19:37 first Bible printed on a printing press,
19:38 which was the Gutenberg Bible.
19:40 And I think, I've got a picture of that right there
19:41 on the screen for you. How much do you think
19:44 that would be worth? Be valuable, but you know
19:47 it wouldn't be a worth as much to you.
19:48 Because you can't read German, I don't think
19:51 most of you, some of our viewers can,
19:53 but you can read the real Bible in English,
19:57 or your Bibles in English. And so, take
19:59 advantage of this precious book you know;
20:01 right now they're having a presidential election.
20:03 When the president is elected, he's voted into
20:07 office, he places his hand on what book? The Bible.
20:10 The Bible and he makes a vow. It's such a sacred
20:14 book and it's got this history that goes back
20:16 for hundreds of years. The Bible is the map that
20:19 tells us about life; it tells us how to follow Jesus
20:22 and where to go? Now, you know, more,
20:24 more-and-more of the cars have something
20:26 very special. During our series every now and then,
20:29 we're gonna take a look in our mystery chest.
20:32 This up here's a mystery chest, we're gonna have
20:33 some surprises in here night-after-night.
20:36 I'm gonna grab something out of here,
20:37 out of the mystery chest here for a second.
20:43 Lets see, what we got going on in here.
20:46 Who knows what this is? This is a GPS,
20:51 and my GPS here, let me see how I turn it on?
20:55 Looks like the batteries have gone out on me.
20:57 When you first turn this thing on, what it does
21:00 is it says, it's acquiring satellite. How many have
21:03 you have cars you know they get GPS in them.
21:06 Now, when I travel I take one with me.
21:07 And then it's got a map, but before you can use
21:10 the map on the GPS, it's got to get satellites,
21:14 not just one or two, it needs three or four
21:16 the more you have the better. When you're
21:19 trying to figure out, what the truth is?
21:21 You don't just read one verse in the Bible to find
21:23 out what God wants. Some people confuse the Bible,
21:26 by just reading one verse all by itself.
21:28 You compare the scriptures in the Bible,
21:30 and it guides you like a map and gives you the
21:34 right direction that you should go.
21:35 Someone once said, that the word Bible
21:38 B-I-B-L-E, it stands for, it's an acronym.
21:42 That means the words represents something else.
21:44 Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
21:50 Can you say that with me? Basic Instructions
21:54 Before Leaving Earth. How many of you want
21:57 to leave earth and go to heaven? The Bible is your
22:00 instruction book, so you can know how you get
22:04 out of this world into the next one.
22:05 And you want to be able to compare the
22:07 verses in the Bible. So, you can arrive at the truth.
22:10 One time, when Jesus was been tempted by the devil.
22:12 The devil misquoted the Bible to him to cause
22:16 confusion. And so, you've got to know the Bible
22:19 because sometimes the devil will try to trick you
22:21 and misquote it. Let me give you an example of that.
22:24 I might need a volunteer, let's come, come up here
22:28 for a second right there Joel, you're on the
22:29 front row, so you got picked. You didn't know
22:30 I was gonna do this, did you? You look like a
22:32 stout boy, so I wanna, want you to do something
22:34 for me. Alright, fold your arms, spread your legs
22:37 a little bit, okay, I going to try and push you over
22:39 with my finger, don't let me push you over,
22:41 okay. Okay. How old are you? Eleven.
22:44 He's pretty strong for eleven. Okay, pretty
22:47 tough, can't push away with one finger.
22:49 I don't know if I can push him with my hand,
22:51 alright. Now, lift up one leg, hold it up.
22:58 See how easy that is? Thank you, very much
23:00 and you know why I said that? When you're
23:02 discovering, and what the truth is, you don't
23:04 want just one verse of the scripture.
23:06 How much stronger and more stable are you
23:08 with two feet than one foot. So, read the
23:11 different verses in the Bible and it's starts you to
23:13 under, help you understand what the truth is?
23:16 Let's go to our next question in our lesson.
23:18 Question number two, how can you know for yourself
23:22 that the Bible is true? Oh! Maybe some preacher
23:26 say it, your mom and dad hopefully tell you that,
23:29 but how can you know that the Bible is true.
23:32 There is a verse that says, in Psalm 34 verse 8,
23:37 "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!"
23:41 Alright, I'm gonna bring up another volunteer I,
23:44 I have already asked Nathan, if he'd come
23:46 up here for a second. And this is Nathan Nedley
23:49 here, you stand right here Nathan. I'm gonna,
23:51 are you getting hungry Nathan, I'm just wondering.
23:54 Sure. You're a little hungry? Yeah. Well,
23:57 you might get something to eat.
23:58 Let me see here, you're not allergic to anything,
24:00 this is, this sock I want you to know this nothing
24:02 wrong with this sock, it's been at the bottom of
24:04 my laundry hamper for two years.
24:06 I know that it's fine, okay. Could you see
24:08 anything? Nope. How's your smeller work?
24:13 Pretty good. What do you smell? An apple.
24:17 An apple, okay just checking. Hang on a
24:24 second now, I want you to trust me and open
24:27 your mouth, I put something in, there
24:28 is a piece of fruit, are, are you allergic,
24:30 do you have any food allergies. No, okay,
24:32 good bite down, chew that up, it be good for you,
24:35 what was that? A grape. A grape, you know,
24:38 how do you know that was a grape?
24:39 Now, let me show you something that apple
24:41 that you just smelled a second ago, isn't that
24:44 what he smelled? The grape that you ate,
24:49 you can tell the difference between the grape
24:52 and the banana because you tasted it for yourself,
24:56 right? Thank you, very much. Can you, let's give
24:58 him a hand. Thank him for his help.
25:05 So, how we are gonna know that the Bible is true?
25:09 We got to read it for ourselves. I didn't grow
25:12 up reading the Bible and I had to eventually
25:15 read it for myself to find that out.
25:16 Question number three, does God foretell the
25:20 future in the Bible? Wouldn't you like to know what
25:23 the future is? Yes. Listen to what it says,
25:26 in Isaiah chapter 46, verse 9 and 10.
25:30 God says, "I am God declaring the end from
25:34 the beginning, and from ancient times things
25:37 that are not yet done." God sees all of history
25:41 together and he tells the future many times in the
25:44 Bible. The Bible is filled with incredible prophecies.
25:48 Let me give you some examples, God told Noah
25:51 that there was going to be a tremendous flood coming.
25:54 And some people didn't listen; a lot of people
25:56 didn't listen. And they suffered because of that.
25:59 Right now, while we're doing this meeting there
26:03 is a lot of things happening in the news that have
26:05 to do with weather, right? And people who have
26:09 satellite cameras up in the sky, up in the heavens
26:12 are looking down and they see this great hurricane
26:14 heading towards the Texas coast, and the people
26:17 get on the radio. And they tell them in the newspaper,
26:20 there is a serious storm coming, you need to move.
26:23 And I just before I came to the program,
26:25 they said on the news a lot of people aren't moving.
26:29 Now, those folks who are looking from the cameras
26:32 in the sky, they're not using prophecy.
26:35 They're using cameras in the sky; they can see
26:37 what's coming because of their prospective.
26:39 How much does God know? Everything.
26:42 He knows everything. And in the Bible he often
26:46 outlines the history of the world. Do you know Jesus
26:48 foretold, he said in 40 years from A. D 30,
26:53 he said in 40 years the Jewish temple would be
26:56 destroyed, there would not be one stone left upon
26:59 another. And exactly 40 years later the Romans
27:03 came and completely destroyed the temple,
27:05 and they did not leave two stones one on top
27:08 of the other. The Lord foretold so many things
27:11 in the Bible. Matter of fact, I'm gonna need
27:14 one more volunteer here; let me see,
27:16 who am I get, young lady right up here,
27:19 what's your name? Gillian. Gillian, alright.
27:21 Tell you what, you want to look in the mystery box,
27:23 and see if there is a statue in there,
27:24 grab that for me. You can pick them right up,
27:30 that's Ivan the idol, maybe we called it Ike.
27:35 Okay, there is a dream that Daniel has in
27:39 Daniel chapter 2; King Nebuchadnezzar had a
27:42 dream of this strange idol, because all the nations
27:45 of the word were worshiping idols except
27:47 the Jewish back then. And it had a head of gold
27:50 and arms of silver and a belly of bronze, and legs
27:53 of iron, and the feet were iron and clay.
27:55 And the King didn't know what the dream meant?
27:58 So, he called for the prophet Daniel finally,
28:01 he tried his prophets, but they didn't know,
28:03 but the prophet of God came in. And he said,
28:05 that dream that you saw outlines the history of
28:08 the world from the time of King Nebuchadnezzar
28:11 to the end of time. And he said, the head
28:13 of gold represented the Kingdom of Babylon,
28:15 I remember reading about that when I was
28:17 in school and then the arms of silver,
28:20 the Persian kingdom, Medo-Persia would come.
28:22 And the belly and thighs of bronze represented
28:25 the Kingdom of Greece, and then Greece would
28:28 fall to the Romans, and they were the legs of iron,
28:30 and the feet were mixed iron and mixed clay
28:34 that was when the Roman Empire fell apart
28:36 and got mixed up with religion and Romanism.
28:39 And the divided Empire Rome is where we're living
28:41 today. And then a stone comes and strikes the image
28:44 and destroys all the idols and false religions,
28:47 grows into a great mountain and fills the earth,
28:50 that's the second coming of Jesus.
28:52 Everything that Daniel said in the prophecy
28:55 happened in the history books, and he foretold
28:56 that long before it happen. The next thing to happen
29:00 is that stone, Jesus, the rock of ages coming,
29:03 we got a rock right here, and it's gonna come
29:05 down, and it's gonna hit this and it polarize
29:07 the image, it blows away and the rock goes
29:10 into a great mountain and it fills the whole earth.
29:12 God foretold that everything in the prophecy
29:16 happened so far, how many of you believe the
29:18 last part is gonna happen where Jesus comes?
29:20 I believe that too. Thank you, very much for your
29:24 help holding Ike for me. Alright, so the prophecies
29:29 do come true. What about science? Number four;
29:33 does science support the Bible that it's true?
29:37 I believe true science really does support
29:41 the Bible that it's not true, that for instance.
29:43 Let me give you some examples. You can read
29:46 in Job chapter 26, verse 7, "He hangs the earth
29:50 upon nothing." Long time ago, one of the first books
29:54 in the Bible was the Book of Job. When you look
29:57 at the Book of Job, first time I read it I thought it
29:59 said Job, because I didn't grow up reading the Bible,
30:01 it's spell J-O-B, but you don't call him job,
30:04 we call him Job. And the Book of Job says,
30:07 God hangs the earth on nothing.
30:09 Well, you know, back when Job wrote that many
30:12 of the nations of the world had all these strange
30:14 superstitions, they thought that the world rested
30:16 on the back of a giant tortoise, they thought
30:19 that the world rested on the shoulders of a man
30:22 named Atlas, they had all these superstitions,
30:24 but the Bible said, no the world hangs on nothing.
30:28 And when you look at a picture of earth in space,
30:32 the Bible knew that way back then that the world
30:35 hung on nothing, you could also look in
30:37 Isaiah chapter 40, verse 22, there it says,
30:41 "He sits above the circle of the earth."
30:46 Now, you remember the story of Christopher
30:47 Columbus. How many of you have read about
30:48 Christopher Columbus? Did some people think
30:51 that Christopher Columbus was a little bit crazy,
30:54 do you know, why? Because he said,
30:56 I believe that I can get from the east,
31:02 from the west to east by sailing west,
31:05 and he went and he said, the world is round.
31:07 They said, Oh! Everybody knows, science knows
31:10 the world is flat. If you sail too far, you're gonna
31:13 sail off this great big old water fall and dragons
31:16 will get you. They had all these superstitions
31:18 that the world was a big square flat place,
31:21 like a table. And the Bible said, a long time ago
31:27 that the earth was round and that it was a circle.
31:30 And so, all through the Bible you'll find out
31:32 that the, the science and the Bible is true.
31:35 You know, back in the Dark Ages. Some people
31:42 were very superstitious about cats.
31:44 And they got rid of all the cats, they said
31:46 cats are evil, they're with witches,
31:47 they're from the devil. And they started killing
31:49 all the cats in Europe, but do you know what
31:52 happened when there is no cats around who knows?
31:54 Mice. Mice and rats, and the mice and the rats
31:58 began to multiply spread everywhere and they
32:01 carried these little bitty fleas, bubonic disease
32:04 was on these fleas. And people got something
32:07 called the bubonic plague. And they all started
32:08 dying from this terrible sickness.
32:10 And they didn't know what to do to stop it.
32:13 Finally, some of the church leaders looked
32:15 in the Bible and they read what it said in the
32:17 Book of Leviticus about sanitation and containment.
32:21 And the science from the Bible is what finally
32:24 stopped the bubonic plague from spreading.
32:26 So, the Bible is full of very accurate science.
32:30 Let's go to question number five, does the
32:34 message in the Bible all fit together?
32:37 You know, it's amazing about the Bible is that,
32:41 it was written about 40 different authors,
32:44 but these were not just the average people.
32:46 You can read in Second Peter chapter 1, verse 21,
32:49 "Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by
32:54 the Holy Spirit." These Holy men were inspired
32:58 by the Holy Spirit. And they wrote what God
33:00 told them to write. And even though these men
33:04 wrote from so many times in history over a period
33:07 of 1,500 years. They lived on three different
33:11 continents. Some of them were poor shepherds
33:13 like King David, some of them were educated like
33:17 the Apostle Paul from all different backgrounds,
33:21 and yet when you read the Bible, the message is
33:24 all united. So, it's like someone one time the
33:27 Bible is many miracles. One miracles, it's Miraculous
33:30 in its Harmony, it's got the same consistent
33:33 message about God and his love for you.
33:36 The Bible is miraculous in his origin.
33:39 Do you know there is several times in history
33:41 that people have tried to destroy the Bible?
33:42 Some people have burned them, mountains of Bibles,
33:47 they burned them, they've tried to destroy
33:48 the scrolls, emperors of Rome and Kings of
33:51 Europe have tried to stamp out the Bible.
33:53 And yet God has preserved this book,
33:55 that's why we should be very careful to
33:58 respect the Bible. Let me stop right here
33:59 and say something. You know, when I'm doing
34:02 my program, you'll notice I never set anything
34:05 on my Bible, because the Bible is a Holy Book.
34:07 And in the Batchelor home, we, treat the
34:11 Bible with respect. We don't stuff it at the bottom
34:14 of a bunch of magazines and throw the TV guide
34:18 on top of it, something just doesn't sound right
34:19 about that, does it? We treat this Bible;
34:22 this is the most important sacred book in the world.
34:26 Remember those boys, when they found the scrolls
34:27 in the cave, they were worth millions.
34:30 I've been to the museum where they have got
34:32 the Dead Sea scrolls. And they've got this,
34:34 this great big three and a half foot concrete
34:37 iron reinforced vault over these scrolls,
34:41 it's protecting the Bible because it's the most
34:44 important treasures in Israel. So, we should
34:47 treat our Bibles respectfully.
34:48 When you turn the pages, you want to be careful
34:50 to turn them carefully. This is a sacred book;
34:52 'cause it's the voice of God to you and me.
34:54 The Bible is Miraculous in it's Accuracy.
34:58 It's amazing as you go from cover-to-cover
35:01 in the Bible that it never misdirects you.
35:04 You know, I got one of these little GPS's in my car,
35:08 and GPS is really great, but they are computers,
35:11 and sometimes computers are dumb.
35:12 And, and sometimes I'm following the GPS
35:15 and it's telling me to go somewhere,
35:17 but the GPS doesn't know that the road is
35:19 closed because of construction or stuff
35:22 like that and, and it doesn't know,
35:23 but God he knows everything all the time.
35:27 He doesn't, his computer never goes down,
35:29 does it? So, it's Miraculous in it's Message as well.
35:33 The message of the Bible is about God's love for
35:36 you and how he came to save us from our sins,
35:40 to give us new hearts, to transform us to be like
35:44 his son. The miracles in the Bible are true;
35:47 it's the most powerful book in the world.
35:50 And I'm gonna be telling you a little bit
35:52 tomorrow night about how you can use the
35:54 power of the Bible, by reading it, and by
35:56 memorizing the scripture. I want to encourage
35:58 you every night to remember some of the Bible.
36:01 Who remembers, what verse did we read tonight
36:04 as our opening scripture? Our memory verse,
36:09 I know that he read it, no you're cheating,
36:11 you read it, you know, it. Someone else,
36:13 you know what it was? "Thy word is a lamp unto
36:18 my feet. And a light unto my path."
36:21 Psalms 119, verse 105. Could you say that
36:24 with me? "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet.
36:29 And a light unto my path." Psalms 119,
36:33 verse 105. That is a very important verse for you
36:37 to remember because God's word is gonna guide you.
36:39 Number six, still in our lesson. What is one of
36:43 the greatest proofs that the Bible is true?
36:46 What's some of the most powerful evidence that
36:49 we can trust the Bible? In Second Corinthians
36:52 chapter 5 verse 17 it says, "Therefore, if
36:55 anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation."
36:59 He becomes a new creature. "Old things
37:02 have passed away; all things have become new."
37:06 God makes us new creatures, you know,
37:08 the greatest evidence of the Bible is how the
37:10 Lord changes lives. You know one reason that
37:13 I'm sharing this seminar with you and this is so
37:16 important to me, and this topic tonight is so
37:18 important to me is when I grew up, my mom
37:22 and my dad they didn't take me to church,
37:25 I know very little about the Bible. And I got into
37:29 lots of trouble because I didn't have the map,
37:32 and when you don't have the map,
37:33 when you don't have a GPS, what happens?
37:35 You get lost. You get lost, can you find the
37:37 treasure? No. No, when I was finding everything
37:40 but the treasure. Matter of fact, here is a little
37:42 picture I grabbed a picture today of me,
37:44 is when I went to military school, when I was about
37:47 12 years old, about the age of you folks,
37:50 anyone here 12 years old? Let me see your hands,
37:52 yeah we got a lot of 12 year-olds here.
37:54 And I, do you know, I went to 14 different schools
37:58 growing up. Lot of the reason was because
38:03 I was getting in trouble, my parents moved
38:05 a little bit, but I went to school in Maine,
38:07 I went to school in California,
38:09 I went to school in New York,
38:11 I went to school in Florida, I went to
38:12 school in Europe, plus various public schools
38:16 and Catholic schools and Jewish schools,
38:19 and I was all mixed up, life didn't have any
38:21 purpose for me. I didn't know about Jesus and
38:24 his love. And so I thought like a lot of people in the
38:27 world, you live a little while. And then you die,
38:31 and I believed in evolution. And then
38:34 you just turn into fertilizer when you die.
38:36 And I thought you know, life doesn't bring very
38:39 much happiness, what's the purpose of life?
38:41 So, I got in lots of trouble. Now, my father was
38:45 a very wealthy man that owned two airliners,
38:49 he lived on an island in Miami Beach.
38:52 We had a butler and a maid, dad had a private Learjet,
38:56 drove Rolls Royce, had a lot of money,
38:59 but he wasn't very happy. Every night he had to
39:02 drink alcohol to go to sleep very unhappy.
39:04 He didn't have God in his life. My mother thought
39:08 happiness came from being famous.
39:09 So, she was an actress, she was in movies,
39:13 she was a film critic, she wrote songs for people
39:16 like Andy Williams and Frank Sinatra,
39:18 and Elvis Presley. And I don't know,
39:20 if you know any of those people, I'm getting old.
39:22 But she was the president of the film critics in
39:26 Beverly Hills, and knew all these famous people
39:28 that came to our houses, but they weren't very
39:31 happy. I know some of them who are child actress
39:34 and everybody knew who they were,
39:36 and they killed themselves, rich, beautiful, smart,
39:40 but without God they got lost. And they didn't want
39:44 live anymore. And I used to think if there is no God,
39:47 there is really no purpose in life. And so,
39:50 when I lived in New York city, sometimes
39:52 I like climb up to the top of these tall
39:54 apartment buildings. And I used to think all
39:56 of those people running around like ants down
39:58 there. They have no purpose in life,
40:00 why don't I just jump and kill myself? Amen.
40:04 I did, I used to think about that.
40:06 My dad was so busy with his work and my mom
40:08 was so busy with her career, they didn't seem
40:10 to have time for me, and I thought I don't even
40:12 want to live. And so, I used to go to the top of
40:15 these apartment buildings and I put my toe over
40:17 the edge and I look down 20 storeys.
40:19 And I go like this, and see how far out
40:22 I could go like I'm doing right now.
40:24 Until I felt my center of gravity
40:26 and I stopped myself. And you know,
40:28 afraid of, I didn't jump because I thought,
40:30 what if I jump and I live through it,
40:32 and I'm all broken up and sick,
40:34 I didn't wanna do that. And sometimes
40:37 I used to think, well maybe if I just took pills;
40:39 I just take a whole lot of pills and go to sleep
40:41 and never wake up nobody will know.
40:43 Now, let me tell you something.
40:45 You know what they called that? Suicide,
40:48 that's really murder; it's when you murder yourself.
40:52 Is murder a sin? Yes. Yeah, murdering yourself
40:56 is a sin too. Did you make yourself?
40:59 You were created by God, you are his property.
41:01 And some people kill themselves because
41:04 they think; I just want my problems to go away.
41:06 So they kill themselves, but think about this,
41:09 if a person dies and they're lost.
41:11 What's the first thing they know after they die?
41:15 They wake up and they're facing a lake of fire,
41:19 that's not very good, does that solve their
41:21 problems or do their problems get worse.
41:23 When you're alive there's hope. And so don't ever
41:27 get so discourage you think about something crazy like
41:29 that, that's what the devil wants you to do.
41:32 So, I finally thought you know, I'm not gonna
41:35 take pills and I'm not gonna jump,
41:36 I'm just gonna try and have as much fun as
41:38 I can before I die. So, I started getting into all
41:41 kinds of trouble, I started drinking,
41:43 when as I with my dad I drink, and then
41:46 I started using alcohol and I started taking drugs
41:49 and smoking pot. And when I live with mom,
41:52 a lot of the people in Hollywood use drugs.
41:54 And I was using drugs and I was getting into
41:56 trouble. First time I ran away from home I was
41:59 13 years old. I want to just go live in the mountains,
42:03 I got arrested, I was in jail several times
42:06 and big trouble by that time I was 15 years old,
42:10 I left home for the last time. And I was living
42:14 in Boston, I, by the time I was 16 I had a
42:18 drivers license that said I was 18 years old,
42:21 I was working as a security guard.
42:23 And at night I was breaking into homes and stealing.
42:26 So, here I had a job guarding places during
42:29 the night actually it was guarding things at night,
42:31 and I was stealing during the day.
42:33 And I just wasn't very happy, and I used all
42:35 my money on drugs. And my father came to visit me,
42:40 and he said Doug. He said, why don't you go to
42:43 this special school, I found a school,
42:45 lots of adventure, it's on a boat, it sails around
42:48 the world. And that sounded pretty exciting,
42:51 I've always wanted adventure.
42:52 So, my dad flew me from Boston, I was 16 to Europe
42:56 and I went to school that was on a sailboard.
42:59 And there's a bunch of boys and girls on this boat.
43:02 And it was like a high school and they sailed around
43:04 the world, but then I found that he sort of
43:06 tricked me, the boat was something like a prison,
43:08 and they take away your passport and they didn't
43:11 let you go anywhere and, and I and most of the
43:14 people on the boat didn't believe in God.
43:16 And I was thinking you know, it's just no purpose
43:20 in life and this didn't seem like much fun,
43:22 but I noticed something. One day we were sailing
43:26 from Northern Africa over to Spain,
43:29 it was winter time. And during that trip
43:33 we got into a serious storm out on the ocean.
43:35 And the boat was rocking back and forth
43:38 in the waves were like 25 to 30 just great big
43:42 old waves and a lot of waves were washing
43:44 over the front of the boat. And things were getting
43:46 washed over board and water was very cold cause
43:49 it was around Christmas time. And the captain said
43:52 if you fall overboard, we're not even gonna
43:54 turn the boat around because we will never
43:55 find you. And all of the people on the boat
43:58 said that they were atheists. Until they got
44:03 in the storm and they thought they were gonna die,
44:04 what do you think they started doing,
44:06 when they thought they were gonna die?
44:07 Praying. They started praying, and they started
44:11 making promises to God. Oh! Lord if you will
44:13 just save me; help me get through this storm.
44:15 And of course we survived the storm;
44:18 I wouldn't be here to tell you, were they?
44:20 But God doesn't want us to serve him
44:23 because we're afraid. Well, I was soon as
44:25 I got home for Christmas vacation,
44:27 I ran away for the last time.
44:29 Now, I thought there must be a God,
44:31 too many amazing things happened.
44:33 One quick story I'll tell you. I was hitchhiking
44:37 you know you get on the road and you beg
44:38 for a ride. I was hitchhiking from Florida
44:42 to California like 4000 miles. I got stuck it's
44:47 still Christmas time in Oklahoma, freezing cold
44:50 weather. I stood on the road for hours begging
44:53 for ride, nobody would pick me up. I got hungry,
44:56 I was a little bit sick because I had been
44:58 drinking the night before, alcohol can make you sick.
45:01 And I prayed, and I didn't grow up really knowing
45:05 how to pray. And I prayed, the Lord I believe that
45:07 there is a God there because I saw so many amazing
45:10 things happen. I said, will you please help me
45:13 and I prayed that God would give me four things,
45:16 I said please help me get some money,
45:18 I had no money. Help me get a ride to California,
45:22 had 2000 miles still to go. I said, Lord please help
45:25 me get some food I was hungry. And then I prayed
45:28 God please help me get a ride with somebody normal,
45:31 because I was getting picked up by very strange
45:33 people. As soon as I finished praying, a van stopped
45:38 and pick me up; the man took me 2000 miles right
45:43 to the door of where I was going. He fed me all the
45:47 way out to California, I didn't ask him to.
45:50 He gave me $40, when he drop me off that
45:53 I didn't asked for, something I didn't ask for,
45:56 I didn't ask him to preach to me, all the way from
45:58 Oklahoma to California. He was a Christian,
46:01 and he was telling me all about the Bible,
46:03 I thought, Oh! Bible is a fairytale, I mean
46:05 I believe in all these different new age religions
46:07 and reincarnation and, and he's telling me about
46:10 the Bible. And I had to listen to him. Or jump out,
46:14 and then I said I'm gonna try and find God
46:16 through nature. And I moved up into the mountains
46:19 and I moved into a cave. And I lived like a hermit
46:23 for about year and a half up there in that cave.
46:24 And I never even wore clothes because it was a
46:27 hot desert in the mountain and I thought
46:29 I'm gonna be natural. And one of the miracles
46:32 is once or twice a week I'd come to town
46:34 and I beg for money. One of the miracles was that
46:38 somebody had left a Bible in the cave.
46:40 And I stared to read the Bible and it changed my life.
46:44 And even though I was living like a hermit back
46:47 then, now I'm going around the world,
46:49 telling people about Jesus. The Bible became the
46:52 map to truth for me, and God has a big plan
46:55 for your life too. Now, I took a lot of time
46:57 telling you my story, but I wanted you to know,
46:58 why the Bible is so important.
47:00 Question number seven, when we accept the
47:03 Bible as God's Word, can we know things that
47:06 others are still searching for? Oh! Yes, he can.
47:08 It says, in Psalm 119 verse 100,
47:11 "I understand more than the ancients,
47:14 because I keep your precepts."
47:16 When you keep the commandments of God
47:18 you are wiser than the ancients.
47:19 And again your commandments have
47:22 made me wiser than my enemies, for they
47:24 are ever with me. God's word will make you wise.
47:27 See the word of God is a weapon that
47:29 we can use to fight against the enemy.
47:32 It's like a sword, it's like a shield, see we got
47:35 a sword up here right under the Bible because
47:37 the Bible says that the word of God is quick
47:39 and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword.
47:42 Whenever Jesus was tempted by the devil,
47:44 what did he do? He quoted the Bible.
47:48 You know, I heard a story we're not too far away
47:49 from Houston. And you probably heard of Sam
47:53 Houston. Well, he had a son Sam Houston Junior.
47:56 And something amazing happened one time.
47:59 He was in the Battle of Shiloh, and during the
48:03 midst of the battle he got shocked by a bullet,
48:06 got knocked down, and when he picked himself up
48:09 and he recovered, he realized that the bullet
48:11 hit his backpack, and when he finally got out of
48:14 that midst of the battle he pulled out his backpack
48:17 and he found that there was his Mother's Bible
48:19 that was in his backpack is what the bullet hit.
48:21 And you know, inside that Bible, the bullet stopped
48:25 right on the verse, it said the word of God is like
48:27 my shield and my protection, that's right
48:30 where the bullet stopped. God's word will be a shield
48:33 for you. It's a sword, it's like Jesus used to protect
48:36 him from temptation, it will protect you.
48:38 See Jesus is like the Bible. Bible says Jesus is bread
48:44 and the Bible is bread. Jesus is the light of world;
48:49 the Bible is the lamp and light unto my feet.
48:51 The Bible tells us that the word of God is eternal,
48:54 it says, Jesus is eternal. Everything you find out
48:58 about the word, you'll also find is true about Jesus.
49:01 So, when you read the Bible? Jesus is the word,
49:04 you're getting to know him, the son of God
49:08 and he wants a personal relationship with you.
49:10 So, how can we understand the Bible?
49:13 We got to read it. Taste and see that the Lord
49:17 is good. I'm just wondering, how many of you know
49:20 how to read? What's the most important thing
49:23 you should read? The Bible. Bible. It's the map
49:27 to the treasure, to heaven, everyday
49:29 we should read the Bible; it will completely
49:31 change your life. You know there is an amazing
49:34 story in history, some of you have probably
49:36 heard this story about the Mutiny on the Bounty.
49:39 Back in 1779, there was an English ship called the
49:45 Bounty. The captain was a very difficult man named
49:48 Captain William Bligh, and his crew got so tired
49:51 of him they Mutinied. They put him and some
49:53 of the officers into a boat and pushed them away,
49:56 but then they knew they would have the entire
49:58 British Navy looking for them trying to hunt them
50:01 down. And so they said, well we better hide
50:04 and where in the world are we gonna hide,
50:06 so that the British Navy is not gonna find us,
50:09 because if you mutinied, do you know what they
50:10 did to you? They'd hang you till you were dead.
50:14 Mutiny they didn't fool around with that.
50:16 It's amazing the Captain Bligh, he went 3000 miles
50:20 with his officers, he was a good sailor,
50:22 he went 3000 miles in that little life boat with
50:25 his officers and they lost one man, but they,
50:28 the rest of them all survived, but Fletcher
50:32 Christian, the leader of the Mutineers,
50:35 they went back to the Island of Tahiti
50:37 and there in the Island of Tahiti, they, they
50:41 some of the men off and they got eleven women,
50:43 'cause they thought we're gonna have to just go
50:44 find somewhere to hide from the rest of the world.
50:48 And they got about six Polynesian men,
50:51 and the other eight Mutineers they took the Bounty,
50:55 and Fletcher Christian was looking through Captain
50:57 Bligh's logbook, and he saw that where
51:01 Captain Cook had one time made a note on one
51:04 of these voyages that there was an island called
51:06 Pitcairn that had a water on it, that had a harbor
51:09 on it, it had some vegetation and food,
51:12 and that's all it said. You know, it was out the
51:14 middle of nowhere. And they thought we'll go hide
51:18 on this island, there is water, there is food,
51:21 we got men and women, it'll be like the Garden
51:23 of Eden we'll make a paradise, but you know
51:26 what happened? Those sailors they didn't have
51:28 the Lord in their lives, and they got on that island,
51:32 and they burned the ship, they took everything
51:33 off the ship, they could keep, they burned it.
51:35 So, that the Navy would not sail by and find them.
51:37 They thought we can hide here , we've got our
51:39 Garden of Eden, our paradise, but you know
51:43 what happened? They didn't have the Lord,
51:45 they all started to fight, and they got jealous,
51:48 and the men and women started to fight,
51:50 men were fighting for other men's wives
51:52 and one of men learned how to make alcohol out
51:54 of the some of the plants on the island,
51:56 they began to drink, pretty soon they began to kill
51:58 each other. And the men all began to fight,
52:01 and argue and kill each other until pretty soon,
52:04 there was one man left, and his name was Adams.
52:09 John Adams and he thought what's become of us.
52:13 This was supposed to be a paradise;
52:14 we're all killing ourselves off at this point now.
52:16 He's got 11 women and 23 children and him.
52:22 He was digging through the chest of Captain Bligh,
52:26 in the bottom of the chest there was a Bible,
52:28 they noticed it before, but they never looked at it.
52:30 And he pulled it out and they all began to read the
52:33 Bible. And he began to teach the women and
52:36 the children to read the Bible. And they all learned
52:39 about the truths in the Bible pretty soon they all
52:41 began to get along and they was harmony,
52:43 and they were praying, and they were trusting God.
52:45 About nine years after they've landed on the island
52:48 they were discovered by a whaling vessel,
52:50 and when the captain of the whaling vessel went
52:53 on the Island of Pitcairn, he said I met all these
52:56 people that spoke kind of an English gibberish,
52:59 and they were also loving and they were so happy,
53:02 and they were so kind, he said, I have never seen
53:04 such a pious group of people. They not only prayed
53:08 before they ate, they prayed after they ate.
53:12 And they realized that without God they could
53:14 never have happiness. Now, there's a lot of things
53:17 that you could read, there's a lot of programs
53:19 that you could watch, and some of you,
53:21 you have your little computer games.
53:23 There's a lot of things you can do with your
53:24 time where you can waste your life.
53:26 And never learn about God. And you won't find
53:30 real happiness. You know, what the real treasure is?
53:32 The treasure is to be learning about Jesus,
53:35 so that you can have everlasting life.
53:37 During these series of meetings we are gonna
53:40 tell you how you can find the treasure.
53:42 You know, years ago, when they used to sell these
53:48 treasure maps, most of the treasures maps
53:51 were frauds. And a lot of people would,
53:55 these sailors would make money they'd say,
53:57 you know, I was on the ship, and the captain
53:58 of the ship he buried a treasure and here's a map.
54:01 And if you follow this, I will sell you this map,
54:04 you'll find the treasure and some people would
54:06 pay money. Even today people pay for phony
54:09 treasure maps, but you know there were a few
54:13 real treasure maps, I heard some stories about
54:17 treasure hunters that found maps where ships went
54:19 down during a hurricane off the Florida Keys
54:23 and they found mountains of gold.
54:25 Another ship off the Coast of California,
54:28 another one by South America went down loaded
54:30 with gold. And some people found real treasure maps.
54:35 You know the real map sometimes in the pirate
54:38 stories, they would show the map and they would
54:43 put a big X in blood where the treasure was buried.
54:46 You know, there is a treasure map,
54:49 and it's called the Bible. The Bible is marked
54:53 and you know, what the X is, the X in red,
54:56 it's the cross. See Jesus, he's the one
55:01 who is the treasure. This book is all about Jesus,
55:05 I know when you look at the Bible,
55:06 you think that maybe this is just, just black
55:10 ink on white paper, how can this be so special,
55:13 but there's something amazing about this book
55:16 that changes people lives, there's power in the words.
55:20 And I wanted to encourage each of you to come
55:24 to this series. If I'm gonna be telling you through
55:27 the Bible during this series, how you can live
55:30 forever, how you can have a happy life,
55:33 how you can know what God's plan is for your life,
55:35 does God know the future, does he know
55:38 what your future is? Will he make you do what
55:42 he wants you to do? No. You get to choose to give
55:45 him your heart and to follow him. Jesus has marked
55:48 this treasure map with a red cross, it's,
55:51 it's his life, he sacrificed his life, God came down
55:55 to this world, he took on the form of a man,
55:57 his name was Jesus. He lived a perfect life to show
56:01 you how to live? And then he died for your sins
56:04 because he loves you so much, he doesn't want
56:05 you to die for your sins because the penalty
56:07 for sin is death. You can get to know about him
56:11 and fall in love with him from reading your Bibles.
56:14 How many of you would like to say I'd like to read
56:17 my Bible everyday? Our friends who are watching
56:21 around the country and around the world,
56:23 I'm hoping in your group right now,
56:24 you'll raise your hands and say, I want to know
56:26 about God and his love for us. And I would like
56:29 to invite you, how many of you would like to say,
56:32 everyday now, I'm gonna read my Bible.
56:35 I might start with the little bit, but then it will
56:37 get bigger, but everyday I'm gonna read my Bible.
56:39 Best time is in the morning, how many of you would
56:42 like to say, by God's help I'm wanna read my Bible
56:45 everyday and get to know Jesus.
56:47 This is the map to eternal life, the city of gold;
56:50 don't be like those boys that sold it for $30,
56:53 when it's worth 30 million. This is the treasure
56:56 map to eternal life. Would you like to pray with me
56:59 right now that we could all have Jesus in our hearts,
57:02 that we can have that gift of eternal life,
57:04 you can have him in your heart right now by asking.
57:07 Would you like to pray with me? Father in heaven,
57:10 tonight we've talked about the most important
57:13 book in the world, the Bible. And we know that Jesus
57:17 is called the word of God, he is the bread of life.
57:21 Lord, we want to know you better;
57:22 we want to know what your plan is for our lives.
57:24 Pour out your spirit on each person,
57:26 all of these young people who are watching
57:28 and help us be ready when Jesus comes,
57:30 we pray in his name, amen. God bless you friends
57:35 don't forget the next meeting tomorrow
57:37 night and be praying, invite your friends.
