Hi, my name is Isaac 03:27 and I'm 8-years-old. 03:29 Why didn't Satan die in the flood? 03:31 Isaac is wondering why didn't Satan die in the flood? 03:35 Well, I don't think he knows how to scuba dive. 03:38 The idea is that Satan is not flesh and blood. 03:42 You can read in the Book of Ephesians 6 03:45 that when we wrestle again the devil, 03:47 I mean sometimes we wish that we could just box 03:51 with the devil and deal with them like that because 03:53 we understand those kind off things. 03:55 But we don't wrestle against flesh and blood, 03:57 the devil is a spirit and there are spiritual battles 04:01 and that's why we put on spiritual armor. 04:04 So, a flood that might drawn some mammals 04:07 and a lot of people, it didn't drawn the devil 04:09 but I believe the world burring the flood 04:12 was in such turmoil that even Satan feared for his existence. 04:17 Now, Pastor Doug, we've got a question 04:19 here that's come all the way from Zimbabwe. 04:22 Malunga is asking why do we have so many religions? 04:27 Ooh, that's a good question. 04:30 Now if you wanted to hide a diamond, 04:33 you now a good place to hide a diamond 04:36 would be in a pile of broken glass. 04:39 When I grew up in New York City, 04:41 they used to have these telephone booths 04:43 and one day one of the windows of the telephone booth's broke, 04:46 and you ever see what happens to a car window when it breaks, 04:47 it shatters into all these little pieces like jewels 04:50 and my friend and I scooped them up and we thought, 04:52 boy, they look like diamonds. 04:54 If you have dropped a diamond into that pile of broken glass, 04:58 it would have been hard to find. 05:00 The devil is trying to hide the diamond of truth 05:04 in all the broken glass of these different religions. 05:08 So all of the religions of the world have different 05:11 elements of truth and there is some good things 05:14 may be in many religions. 05:16 But there is only one truth and the devil 05:19 is trying to hide it, so he gets people to fight 05:21 and they divide and they form all these different religions 05:24 and denominations to create confusion in the world. 05:27 The only way to know where the real diamond 05:29 of truth is, is through the Bible. 05:32 It must be tested by the word. 05:35 All right, well, we have another 05:36 video question for this evening. 05:37 All right. I'm Andrei and I'm 9-years-old. 05:42 My question is how can we resist temptation? 05:47 Oh, let me ask question. 05:51 How many of you are sometimes tempted? 05:53 Let me see your hands? 05:56 Yeah, we already knew that 05:57 I just wanted to know if you knew it. 05:59 Everybody is tempted you know what? 06:01 Was Jesus tempted too? Yes. 06:03 Even Jesus was tempted, is it a sin to be tempted? 06:08 No. No, the devil tempts everybody 06:10 and if you are trying to do God's will 06:13 and you are swimming up stream, 06:14 the devil is going to try and cause problems for you. 06:17 How can you resist temptation? 06:19 Well, there is a lot of things you can do. 06:22 And I don't have time to go through 06:23 the whole list but first of all. 06:26 "Thy word have I hid in mine heart," 06:29 the Bible says in Psalms that I might not sin 06:33 so store up the promises of God. 06:35 How did Jesus fight the temptations of the devil? 06:38 When the devil tempted Him, Jesus said it is written, 06:40 it is written, it is written. 06:42 He coded the Bible because the principles of the Bible 06:45 were guiding Him in His life. 06:47 Another way you can avoid temptation, 06:50 not to be tempted is stay away from things 06:53 that are temping to you. 06:55 If a person has a problem with alcohol, 06:57 they shouldn't go shopping in a liquor store right? 07:00 You want to stay away from the things 07:03 that are temptation for you. 07:04 If you've got some friends that are bad influence, 07:06 you want to avoid those friends 07:08 that could cause problems for you. 07:10 And so there is a lot of thing you can do to help resist, 07:13 resist temptation pray that God will give you strength. 07:16 Keep your eyes on Jesus as your example. 07:19 Ask Him to fill you with His spirit and say Lord, 07:22 every morning, you know what the Lord's prayer says. 07:26 Lead us not into temptation. 07:28 Say, Lord, lead me away from temptation and He will, 07:31 He will help you everyday. 07:33 Well, I can talk more about that but we got 07:34 a big program tonight so, I think we better keep moving. 07:38 Well, Pastor Doug, do we have time for one quick question? 07:40 All right, let see. Here it is. This is Alexandria. 07:42 She is sending this questioning from California. 07:45 Here is the question. 07:46 How did Jesus climb up the Mountain of Olives? 07:51 I think Alexandria thought the Bible speaks 07:54 about the Mount of Olives and may be she thought 07:57 it was a mountain of olives. 07:58 Have you ever tried to climb on a mountain of olives? 08:01 That will be slippery, ah, lot of olive oil and so, 08:04 it wasn't the mountain of olives, 08:06 it was the Mount Olivet is what it was called 08:09 and so that was the name of the mountain. 08:11 But He walked, it's not a very steep mountain like Everest. 08:14 Jesus just walked up and it's more like a big hill, 08:17 I have been there before. 08:18 Good questions and keep your questions coming friends. 08:20 If you got a question or if you want to send us a picture 08:23 of your group that's gathered, we'll be putting 08:25 some of them up on the screen. 08:27 Go to amazingfactskids.org 08:29 and we look forward to hearing from you. 08:31 Thank you very much Pastor Doug. 08:32 We have a very special treat this evening. 08:35 We have got the Texas International Choristers 08:38 who are here with us tonight, and they will be bringing 08:40 us a special song "We believe." 08:44 So we invite them to come forward. 09:14 I believe in Jesus, born in Bethlehem 09:20 I believe in Jesus Christ 09:23 who is the Great I Am 09:26 I believe in Jesus, 09:30 Man of Galilee 09:32 When He proved His love 09:34 for us upon Mount Calvary 09:39 I believe that Jesus 09:43 made the blind to see 09:46 I believe that Jesus 09:50 calmed the troubled seas 09:52 I believe that Jesus 09:56 cares for you and me 09:59 I believe I believe 10:05 We believe in Jesus Christ 10:12 We believe that Jesus 10:16 brought to us new life 10:18 Yes, we believe in Jesus Christ 10:23 Our Lord and Savior 10:25 And He'll give His love 10:28 if you'll receive 10:32 We believe He came to die 10:38 On the cross He gave 10:42 Himself a sacrifice 10:44 So all the world could know 10:48 the joy of true salvation 10:51 He's our Lord of lords 10:54 We believe We believe that 10:59 Jesus came to earth to save us 11:04 We believe that on the cross 11:07 new life He gave us 11:10 And He's standing at the door 11:13 wanting so to give you more 11:16 If you'll believe, if you'll believe 11:23 We believe in Jesus Christ 11:29 We believe that Jesus 11:33 brought to us new life 11:35 Yes, we believe in Jesus Christ 11:40 Our Lord and Savior 11:42 And He'll give His love 11:45 if you'll receive 11:49 We believe He came to die 11:55 On the cross He gave Himself a sacrifice 12:01 So all the world could know 12:06 the joy of true salvation 12:08 He's our Lord of lords 12:12 We believe 12:17 We believe 12:42 Now, I have been asked to invite Pastor Doug 12:44 to come forward for something this evening, 12:46 Pastor Doug, do you know how to play the harmonica? 12:50 A little bit. All right, 12:51 we are going to invite Pastor Doug 12:52 to come forward something special this evening. 12:55 This is the Spanish harmonica band. 12:58 And they're going to be playing for us here 13:00 and we're asking Pastor Doug to come and join them for this. 14:21 I'll just stay back here. 14:24 Why don't we ask everybody to sing along? 14:26 Okay. once more. 14:31 Amen, we appreciate that. 14:35 That kind of surprised me, 14:36 they gave me a harmonica few minutes ago. 14:40 I haven't played in a while but I don't think 14:43 I throw them off that much. 14:47 Oh, it's so good to see each of you here tonight. 14:49 How many of you have not missed a night? 14:51 Oh, good job and I'm hoping there is some of you 14:54 who are watching from all across the country 14:57 and around the world and you haven't missed a night yet. 15:00 We're only half way through this adventure 15:02 but this adventure is really the launching pad 15:05 for the biggest adventure in life, 15:08 which is following Jesus, being a Christian, 15:11 giving yourself to Him. 15:13 Our study tonight and I hope you are doing your lessons 15:16 is "The Only Lifeboat," "The Only Lifeboat." 15:21 Now I have been in life boats before. 15:25 My father was in the airplane industry 15:27 and remembered going out in the Florida Keys 15:29 in plane in one of these aircraft lifeboats before 15:32 and it's got all these survival gear in it. 15:34 And I have heard stories of people 15:36 who have been months out in the ocean in lifeboats, 15:39 sometimes with friends, sometimes by themselves, 15:43 had fantastic stories. 15:45 You know a number of years ago back in, 15:48 I think it was 1912 April 14, 15:52 there was a big beautiful luxury liner 15:55 called "The Titanic" and everybody 15:57 thought that the boat was unsinkable 15:59 because it had all these water tight compartments 16:01 16 of them, but they hit an iceberg on their maiden voyage 16:06 and you know what happened? 16:08 The Titanic went down. 16:09 The sad thing was they had not prepared enough lifeboats 16:14 for everybody and even some of the lifeboats 16:17 where pushed off half full because people thought 16:19 the ship's never going to sink but it did sink. 16:22 And out of over 2,000 people that were on the ship, 16:25 over 1,500 died because they didn't have enough lifeboats. 16:32 You know the Bible tells a story of a terrible storm 16:35 that came to the world one time and there was only 16:38 one lifeboat to save everybody. 16:41 Who knows what that boat was? 16:44 The Ark. Noah in the Ark, 16:47 God said I'm going to destroy the world with the flood 16:49 because men's hearts were only evil continually. 16:53 For over a 120 years Noah I preached 16:55 and tried to warn people. 16:56 Get ready and get on the lifeboat, 16:59 but people said not now, later. 17:02 It's not that important and they put it off. 17:06 And finally all the animals got on board, 17:09 Noah stood in the door of the Ark 17:11 and he plead with the people. 17:12 This is the only way, there is no other way, 17:14 if you don't get on this boat, you will perish. 17:18 But they didn't listen to Noah, 17:20 and then God shut the door of the Ark 17:23 seven more days everything looked normal. 17:25 People brought and sold, they made fun of Noah 17:27 because his family was all locked up in the ark 17:30 but then the clouds grew dark and the lightning 17:33 began to flash and the earth began to shake and water 17:36 started coming down from up above. 17:38 And water started coming from below 17:40 and shooting up out of the ground 17:42 and it was a tremendous flood much more than 17:46 Hurricane Ike we had a few days ago. 17:48 This was catastrophic flood that covered the world. 17:52 In all of the world you can see the evidence 17:54 of that and the people that did not get on the Ark 17:57 did not make it. 17:59 Well, do you know that Jesus says 18:01 that there is another storm coming? 18:04 How many of you know the Bible tells us that. 18:06 And there is another Ark, there is one more 18:08 life boat that you can get on, the only life boat. 18:11 We're going to talk about that tonight in our lesson. 18:13 It's the boat of salvation and I want to make sure 18:16 that everybody here and everybody there 18:18 who is watching that you all get on boat, 18:22 because it's the only way to survive and have eternal life. 18:26 Let's go to our lesson. 18:27 Question number 1 in our lesson. 18:29 What had God done to make a lifeboat for us? 18:34 The answers are all in the Bible. 18:36 I brought my Bible up here with me, 18:37 because I might think of some scriptures 18:39 that are not on the screen, 18:40 but I got most of the scriptures on the screen. 18:43 Most of you know this one. 18:45 Matter of fact why don't you say it with me, 18:46 John 3:16 "For God so loved the world 18:51 that He gave His only begotten Son, 18:54 that whosoever believes in Him should not perish 18:59 but have everlasting life." 19:02 Very good you know that and some of you 19:04 weren't even reading it off the screen. 19:06 God so loved us that He gave His Son. 19:10 You know, when I hear about that, 19:13 when I hear that love when I hear about that word, 19:16 He so loved us, it warms my heart, 19:19 it makes me want to love Him back. 19:21 I don't think any of us really realize 19:23 how much God gave when He gave His Son. 19:26 Back in 1937 there was a man named John Griffith 19:30 and he was a bridge operator and he operated a drawbridge 19:34 that went across the Mississippi River 19:36 and he will lift the bridge up and the boats 19:39 would go by underneath and then he hear a whistle 19:41 from the train, he would lower the bridge 19:44 and then the train would go across 19:46 and then he lift the bridge back up. 19:48 And one day John brought his young son with him to work 19:51 and he showed on the big machine and the gears and the cables 19:55 that lifted up the bridge and his son watched 19:57 the bridge go down and the bridge go up 19:59 and he thought that was really neat. 20:00 He wanted to go to work with dad, to see what he did. 20:03 So they had some lunch and while they were sitting 20:05 there eating lunch by the edge of the bridge, 20:07 the father heard the buzzer ring up in his booth 20:10 and that meant there is a message, the train was coming. 20:13 So, he ran up into the booth and he got on the line 20:17 and they said that they have the Memphis Express 20:19 is coming, we got 400 passengers, 20:21 do we need to slow down or will you have the bridge down? 20:23 He said I'll have the bridge down, 20:25 he gave them the green light and they opened up the train 20:27 and started going real fast and the man began 20:30 to do some stuff to lower the bridge and he looked down 20:33 from his booth and he saw that his son Greg 20:38 had tumbled off into the machine where the cables and gears were 20:42 and he was stuck on a piece of cable 20:45 was catching his clothing and the father looked the train 20:49 had already passed the switch, it couldn't stop now. 20:53 He couldn't signal them. 20:54 The bridge was up, if he didn't lower the bridge 20:58 all those people on the train would plunge off 21:00 into the Mississippi and hundreds would die. 21:03 If he did lower the bridge his son would die. 21:08 And he knew what he had to do and with trembling hands 21:12 and a broken heart, John Griffith moved the switch, 21:17 he covered his eyes and he closed his ears 21:20 so he would not hear his son crying and the bridge went down. 21:25 Soon the train went roaring across and some of the people 21:28 in the train waved at the man in the booth 21:30 and they didn't know how much he had just paid 21:33 to save their lives. 21:36 You know that's the way it is in this world today. 21:38 People go on their merry way and they don't appreciate 21:41 how much Jesus has given, how much He is paid. 21:45 God, the Father gave His Son, He loved us so much. 21:49 Don't you think we could trust and love and serve a God 21:52 that loves us that much? 21:54 The only way to be saved is to put our lives in Jesus' hands. 21:58 Don't you want to do that friends? 22:01 More scripture, Jude 1:1. 22:05 The Bible says, you know what life preserver is, 22:07 if someone is out in water because he have man overboard, 22:10 someone fell off a ship. 22:11 They used to throw a ring to them, 22:13 to help them float until the boat can turn around 22:16 and it was called the life preserver. 22:18 You know, Bible says here in Jude. 22:20 We are preserved in Jesus Christ. 22:22 He is not only our lifeboat, He is our life saver. 22:24 He is our life preserver. 22:26 Any of you had ever eat the little round candies 22:27 they call them life savers, because they were named 22:30 after those round rings called life preservers 22:33 and if you look at the old life savers, they even got 22:35 the little lines in them where the robes used to be. 22:38 They won't save your life, they will just give you cavities. 22:41 But, Jesus is a real life saver, He is a real life preserver. 22:45 Question Number 2. 22:48 How could Jesus love us that much? 22:51 Does He really love me? 22:54 Yes, He really loves you. 22:57 Matter of fact you can read in Romans 5:8. 23:01 God demonstrated, He showed His own love towards us, 23:05 in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 23:10 See, the Lord didn't say, if you be good I'll love you 23:14 and I'll forgive your sins. 23:16 The Lord loves us and He is willing to forgive us 23:18 if we come to Him just like we are. 23:20 Let me ask you a question. 23:22 Have you ever been out playing before you got dirty, 23:25 and your mother tells you before you come to dinner. 23:28 She says, look, I want you to take a bath 23:30 but you need to clean up before you take a bath. 23:34 Would your mom and dad ever say clean up so you can take 23:37 a bath or do you take a bath, so you can clean up. 23:41 You know, some people don't come to church, 23:42 they say I'm not good enough to go to church. 23:45 I can't accept Jesus now because 23:46 I'm not good enough to accept Jesus, 23:49 that's backwards that's like your parents telling you, 23:51 will you please clean up so you can take a bath. 23:53 No, you will never be good enough 23:54 unless you come to Jesus just like you are 23:57 and then He cleans you up. 23:59 So, the idea that you are going to clean yourself up 24:01 and you are going to change your ways 24:02 and then you are going to come to Jesus, that's backwards. 24:05 You come to Him and give Him your heart no matter 24:08 where you are, no matter what tyour problems 24:10 and temptations are and He can change your heart 24:13 and cleanse you and He will accept you. 24:15 He is desperate to save you. 24:17 Matter of fact Isaiah 43:4, I like this verse. 24:21 It says "You were precious in My sight." 24:26 You are very precious to Jesus. 24:28 He loves you with in everlasting love, the Bible tells us. 24:33 There is nothing that you can do that 24:35 would make God stop loving you. 24:37 You know, there is nothing you could do to make God 24:38 love you more and there is nothing you can do to make God 24:42 love you less because God loves you 100% 24:45 and is there anything more than 100%? 24:49 100% is as much as you can have. 24:52 Of course if you are in government 24:54 you can spend more than 100% 24:55 but you will learn about that later. 24:59 Romans 8:38-39. It says there, 25:02 "There is no created thing, 25:05 that shall be able to separate us from the love of God 25:09 which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." 25:12 The Lord loves you desperately and there is nothing 25:15 that can separate you from that love. 25:18 You know how we know He loves us? 25:20 What's the greatest proof that He loves us? 25:24 What is it? He died for us. 25:26 He gave the most He could give, 25:28 The Bible says, "No greater love has someone 25:32 than to lay down their life. 25:33 What's the most valuable thing you have got in your house? 25:36 Is it a toy, is it a piano, was it a home? 25:39 Most valuable thing you have got is your life. 25:41 Matter of fact, there is one thing 25:43 more valuable than my life? 25:46 You know what, what I've got is more valuable 25:48 in my life is the life of my family, 25:51 my children and so when someone gives something even more. 25:57 When the Father gave His Son that would have, 25:59 that hurt Him even more than giving His own life. 26:02 Years ago there was a man in Scotland. 26:04 His job was taking care of this lighthouse thereby the ocean. 26:08 And he had a beautiful view, he could see the ocean 26:10 on one side and the green fields on another side. 26:13 And it was his job, during the day 26:14 he keep the windows clean and so that the light would shine. 26:18 And one day he was walking around the outside 26:20 of the top of the lighthouse cleaning the windows 26:23 and there was a metal railing that kind of protected him, 26:26 and he leaned against the railing but he didn't know 26:29 that the salt air had been rusting 26:31 the iron railing and it broke. 26:34 And he fell a 150 feet down on the ground. 26:38 Well, pretty soon he opened his eyes and looked up 26:41 and he saw the blue sky and he thought did I die? 26:45 And then he saw clouds going by, he thought Am I in heaven? 26:48 And then he noticed that his back really hurt. 26:51 See if I'm in heaven, why does my back hurt? 26:54 And pretty soon he got his senses 26:55 and he kind of looked around and he had fallen a 150 feet, 26:58 it would have killed anybody. 27:00 He said, you know, what happened? 27:02 He landed on a sheep that was grazing near below him. 27:08 I know that sounds funny but its true story. 27:09 You know what happened? 27:11 The man lived but what do you think happened to the sheep. 27:15 The sheep, you know, very big fluffy sheep, it died. 27:18 It gave his life so he could live. 27:21 The Bible tells us that Jesus is our lamb. 27:25 John 1, when Jesus came to John the Baptist, 27:29 it says the next day John saw Jesus coming towards him 27:33 and he said "Behold! The Lamb of, 27:37 who is that, The Lamb of God, 27:40 and what does he do, he takes away the sin of the world!" 27:45 When Jesus died on the cross, He did not just die to take away 27:49 the sin of one person or two people. 27:52 His sacrifice was so powerful that He provided 27:56 enough forgiveness to save everybody in the world from sin 28:00 and that would include you. 28:03 Now, sometimes we think, well, I don't have any sin, do I? 28:07 We've all sinned. Remember, 28:08 we've all fallen short of the glory of God. 28:11 And you know what we need is we need to see ourselves 28:14 sometimes through God's eyes. 28:17 Let me tell you a story. 28:19 When I was about 4-years-old, that's younger than most of you. 28:23 My father had a shoe shine machine in the house, 28:27 he used for shining his shoes. 28:29 And everyday before he went to work, 28:31 he take his shoes while they are still on his feet, 28:33 he wore them just like me, 28:34 I have ended up just like my father. 28:36 He would take his shoes and he wore black shoes, 28:38 he step on the button on top of this machine and it would spin, 28:42 real fast and there was a black furry brush on one side 28:47 and there was a red furry brush, 28:49 I don't know why he had a red brush on one side 28:50 because he had no red shoes but that's what it was. 28:52 And a red brush on the other side 28:54 and he take his shoes and he buff his shoes 28:57 and then he would step on the button, he go to work. 29:00 One morning it was a Sunday, I woke up before everyone else. 29:03 Dad was sleeping in with the family 29:05 and I got bored everyone was asleep 29:07 and I wanted to play and I was awake, 29:09 so I went out in the hall and I played 29:11 with the shoe shine machine. 29:12 I like to play with that, I sit there and I press 29:14 the button, go click, click, it goes. 29:16 It spin I tried to stop the brushes, 29:18 but they were so powerful I couldn't stop them. 29:20 Any of you have ever seen this 29:21 kind of machine I'm talking about. 29:23 I saw one in the hotel not too long, they still make them. 29:27 Well, I got bored playing with that, 29:28 I turned it on, I turned it off, turned it on, turned it off. 29:30 And then I thought, I'm going to shine dad's shoes. 29:33 So, I tiptoed in his bedroom and I grabbed his shoes 29:36 and I came back out, I closed the door 29:39 and I thought I want to get them real shinny 29:41 so I'm gonna use some shoe polish. 29:43 But the only shoe polish I knew about 29:45 was under the bathroom sink. 29:47 And so, I would got that black shoe polish 29:50 and I went out and I stared at it for a minute. 29:51 I wasn't sure exactly how it worked. 29:53 I was only 4-year-old so I, it was liquid shoe polish. 29:59 I poured a generous amount 30:00 of black shoe polish on the black brush. 30:02 I knew the black shoe polish didn't go on the red brush. 30:07 And then I turned on the machine, 30:10 something terrible happened. 30:13 First the machine began to bounce because all of the polish 30:16 had weighted one side of it and it was off balance, 30:18 it started bouncing and it picked up speed, 30:22 and it sprayed a black rainbow of shoe polish 30:26 up the white wall across the ceiling down the other side 30:31 and I quickly turned off the machine but it was too late. 30:34 And I looked at that and I thought 30:36 I better go back to bed. 30:40 So, I went back in my bedroom and I laid on my bed 30:42 and I kind of covered myself up and I thought 30:46 nobody saw me, nobody will know. 30:50 I'll just pretend it never happened. 30:52 Pretty soon I heard my dad get up and he fumbled around 30:55 and pretty soon he opened the hall door and he walked out 30:57 and I heard what - he came over and he opened up 31:01 our bedroom door and I had my brother and a stepbrother 31:04 in the house and yet he knew, right away 31:05 he said, Dougie, that what he called me. 31:09 And I've said, I pretended I was sleeping. 31:10 He said, Dougie. I opened my eyes, he said get in here. 31:14 So I came in the hall and he pointed to this black rainbow. 31:18 Did I tell you that it went right through 31:19 the middle of a Spanish soldier. 31:21 There is a picture of a Spanish soldier on the wall, 31:23 it went right, it's like he had a vertical mustache 31:27 going right through him, and he pointed at the picture 31:30 and said do you know anything about this. 31:34 I said, nobody saw me, I said no. 31:40 See I'm going to ask you again. 31:42 You know your parents almost always know, 31:44 even when you don't think they know. 31:47 So, I'm going to ask you again. 31:48 You know anything about this. 31:49 And once you start lying, it gets easier to keep lying. 31:53 I said, no. He said, okay. 31:56 I'm going to spank you till you tell the truth. 31:58 So, right there in the hall, he sat on a bench 32:01 and he began to paddle my posterior, 32:03 you all know where your posterior is, your dearer. 32:08 And he spanking me and I'm going, 32:10 I didn't do, I didn't do, I didn't do, I did it, I did it. 32:13 Because pretty soon you get tortured, 32:14 you all confess, right. 32:16 Then my father sat me down he said. 32:18 Now, Dougie, he says I'm not spanking you 32:20 because you made a mistake. 32:21 I'm spanking you because you lied. 32:23 So get in the bathroom and wash your face. 32:26 So I went whimpering off into the bathroom. 32:28 I had to stand on a little stool to look into the mirror. 32:31 And I stood on the stool and I looked at my face, 32:33 I had black spots all over my face, 32:37 from the shoe polish, and so here I was looking 32:40 at my dad with black spots all over my face. 32:42 He said, did you know anything about this? 32:43 I'm going, no, not me. 32:46 It's like when you tell you parents, 32:47 I didn't eat any chocolate chips and there 32:49 they are all around the sides of your mouth, right. 32:54 So the Lord knows what your sins are. 32:57 You can be honest with Him. 32:59 He already knows everything. 33:00 Sometimes you might be able to temporarily fool 33:03 your parents, but God knows. 33:06 So don't be afraid to tell him, He is your friend. 33:09 And you don't get in trouble because you make a mistake, 33:13 but you don't want to lie to God. 33:15 Number three. What did Jesus come to do for me? 33:20 Why did Jesus come? 33:22 1 John 4:9-10, your answers are on the screen. 33:26 "God sent His only begotten Son into the world, 33:30 that we might live through Him." 33:32 He wants us to do what? 33:34 Live. Not just this short life, He wants you to live for ever. 33:40 If we don't have His forgiveness, 33:42 what is the penalty for a sin? 33:44 And though, when I finish reading this. 33:46 "In this is love, not that we loved God, 33:50 but that He loved us and He sent His son 33:53 to be the propitiation, that's a big word 33:55 for the sacrifice, the atoning sacrifice for our sins". 33:59 Jesus came to take our place. 34:02 He trades places with us, because He loves us. 34:06 Roman 6:23, "The wages of sin--" 34:09 The wage is something you earn. 34:11 What is the wages of sin? "Death." 34:13 "Death." Nobody wants to die, and the wages for sin 34:17 is not just the first death, it's the second death. 34:22 And that's pretty serious, 34:23 we're going to talk about that in another night. 34:25 But the gift of God is what? 34:28 Everlasting it's eternal life. 34:31 Jesus is offering you eternal life 34:33 and you want to make that decision now. 34:35 Now, does He have a right to ask us to give our lives to Him? 34:39 There are two reasons. 34:41 One reason is. 34:43 Who made you? Jesus. 34:46 Secondarily Jesus bought you. 34:50 He made you, He created you, 34:51 and He redeemed you with His own life. 34:54 All right, I need to-I've to have a boy tonight. 34:57 Who has not had a chance yet, a boy side, 35:00 I don't want to be specific, but I've got a story. 35:04 You want to come up Jonathan? 35:05 You haven't had a chance yet. 35:07 I want you to look in the chest. 35:09 Okay. All right, see what you find in there, 35:10 that look something, its something red. 35:13 You can go up, you can open it up 35:14 there is a camera and wave to the camera. 35:16 See the camera, say hi, here we go. 35:20 Okay, now stand right there and hold that for me, 35:21 I'm going to tell a story, okay very carefully. 35:25 There is a boy named Rodney and Rodney spent weeks building, 35:31 he actually spent months building this 35:32 very exquisite model sailboat. 35:36 And that model sailboat was his pride and joy 35:38 and he take it out into the river 35:40 and he had a string on it, and he'll let the string loose 35:43 and it would sail out and he pulled it back 35:45 in and he let it out, it would sail and he loved his sailboat, 35:48 and he used to bathe it and dry it off 35:50 and put it up on the shelf when he was done sailing it. 35:52 One day he took it on the river when he was sailing 35:54 it was really windy, and the sails were working great 35:58 and he let a lot of it go out and the string broke. 36:02 And it came loose from the boat and the sailboat sailed 36:06 beautifully down the river and out of sight, 36:08 and he just cried because he couldn't catch it, 36:10 the river was too deep, and he went home, 36:12 he's broken hearted. 36:15 About a week later he was in town, 36:16 and he walked by a store window and guess 36:18 what he saw on the store window. 36:21 His sailboat for $50 and he went in and he told the man, 36:26 he said that's my sailboat and the man said well, 36:30 I 'm sorry young man. 36:31 He said, you know, I bought this 36:32 and I have spent $20 buying this so that I could sell it, 36:35 it is a very nice boat but, tell you what I'll do is that 36:38 I'll sell it back to you, but you are going to pay me 36:40 what I paid for it, I paid $20 for it. 36:43 He said, but I don't have $20. 36:45 He said, well, I'll hold it for you 36:46 for a few weeks if you want me to, 36:48 so you can get the money. 36:50 So, Rodney went out and he mowed lawns 36:53 and back then you got 50 cents for mowing a lawn. 36:55 How many lawns would he have to mow to get $20? 37:00 Forty lawns, that wasn't much back then. 37:03 You didn't get much but $20 was a lot of money, 37:06 so he worked and worked in a lot hot days out in the sun, 37:09 mowing grass and he came and he gave the $20 37:12 and the man handed him his sailboat. 37:14 And Rodney took his sailboat and he said, 37:17 I'm so glad to have you back sailboat. 37:19 You are mine, you are mine because 37:20 I made you and you are mine because 37:22 I bought you, you are mine twice. 37:25 You know that's how you belong to Jesus, isn't that right? 37:28 Thank you very much, Jonathan. 37:30 Let's put that over here. 37:35 So, Jesus has redeemed us, 37:37 that means He created us, He owns us. 37:40 But when the devil kidnap the world, 37:42 Jesus bought us back with His own life. 37:45 So He owns us because He created us 37:48 and He owns us because He redeemed us. 37:51 Number 4, question number 4. 37:54 How do I accept Jesus and truly show that I believe in Him? 37:59 What do we do? Now, let me ask you a question? 38:02 Do you really know what you need to do to be saved? 38:06 You know, you need to accept Him with your mind 38:10 and believe Him, there are several things. 38:12 The first thing to do, how many of you want to live 38:13 forever and be on that lifeboat? 38:15 Those who are watching, do you want to live forever 38:17 and have that eternal life? 38:18 Let me tell you what to do. 38:20 First thing you do is you ask Him. 38:24 Jesus said, "Ask, and it will be given to you." 38:27 You got to begin by saying Lord I want eternal life, 38:30 I want my sins to be forgiven. 38:33 God will do things for you when you ask. 38:34 If you don't ask, He won't do. 38:36 You got to pray and ask Him. 38:38 The next thing, Acts 16:31, believe, it says here, 38:43 "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, 38:45 and you will be saved." 38:47 You know you have to have faith. 38:48 If you trust God, Jesus says if you have faith 38:51 you can move mountains. 38:53 Wonderful things happen when you have faith. 38:55 We saw a miracle this week, you know what happened? 38:58 God moved something bigger than the mountain. 38:59 We had a hurricane making a beeline for this meeting 39:02 that was going to take it off the air 39:04 and cause all kinds of problems. 39:06 And we had people all over the country praying, 39:09 and that storm was going straight 39:10 for Richardson, Texas and it was turned. 39:15 And I kept praying and believing that God 39:17 brought us here to do this meeting 39:19 that He was going to answer those prayers, 39:20 and God blessed the faith of all these people. 39:23 God does wonderful things when you believe. 39:25 Believe, He wants to save you. 39:27 Sometimes you think, oh, I'm not a very good boy 39:30 and I'm not a very good girl, 39:31 I'm not very strong and smart or pretty 39:33 God doesn't really care about me. 39:35 Oh, yes, He does, don't think like that, 39:37 that's the devil talking to you. 39:39 He wants to save you, He loves you desperately 39:42 because He paid so much. 39:44 1 John 4:19, "We love Him because He first loved us." 39:51 You see He showed us how much He loves us 39:54 that it makes us love Him back. 39:56 He demonstrates His love for us 39:58 and His goodness leads us to repentance. 40:01 Which is our next verse, Romans 2:4. 40:04 "The goodness of God leads you to repentance." 40:06 Who knows what repentance is? 40:10 All right, what repentance? 40:12 When you ask Him to forgive your sins. 40:14 Well, that something you do when you are repenting. 40:16 But repentance is, you know what repentance is, 40:19 I'll repeat your answer. 40:22 What does it mean? 40:24 It means to be you're sorry, to tell God you are sorry, 40:28 that you want to change. 40:29 Let me give you an idea. 40:31 You ever see a sign that says U-turn. 40:33 God loves U-turns, U-turn is when the car 40:36 is going this way up, going the wrong way 40:37 and you turn around, you go back the other way U-turn. 40:40 God allows U-turns and that mean you turn. 40:43 You are going towards the devil, and when you pray, 40:46 you say, Lord I'm sorry, I'm going the wrong way. 40:48 I'm following the world, I'm doing 40:49 all the wicked things that world is doing. 40:50 I want to go to heaven. 40:52 When I went to military school, 40:53 I learned how to do about face like this and that's a U-turn. 40:57 Now you change directions. 40:59 Repentance means that you tell God you are sorry. 41:03 Now different amounts of offence 41:06 require different amount of repentance. 41:09 I can use a girl to help me with this illustration. 41:11 Who hasn't come up? 41:14 Young lady rights here, come quickly, okay. 41:20 Yeah, hi, all right. 41:22 What's your name Grace, okay. 41:24 Now, if you walk in out of the church here, 41:28 go and step on my foot, and you accidentally 41:31 go and step on my foot, what would you say? 41:33 I'm sorry. I'm sorry, there you go. 41:35 And then I say that's okay 41:36 and you can keep on going, right? 41:38 Right. But, if you were running out 41:40 of the church and I was carrying my Bible 41:42 and a bunch of books and you knock me down on the ground. 41:46 Would you just say you're sorry and keep going? 41:49 Or would you help me back up? 41:50 Yeah. You do a little more because 41:52 you knocked me down, you didn't just step on my foot, right? 41:54 Right. The more 41:56 you do to offence somebody, the deeper the repentance. 42:00 Thank you very much. 42:04 So, if I'm walking out of the church 42:08 and I step on your toe or I bump you or I hurt you a little bit, 42:13 if I casually touch you, I say I'm sorry and you say, 42:17 its okay, but if I knock you down and break your leg, 42:21 and I say excuse me and I keep going, is that right? 42:24 No. You don't just say excuse me 42:26 when you break someone's arm or leg. 42:29 You know one time I was riding my bicycle 42:31 when I was about your age and a man hit me 42:34 while I was riding my bicycle, 42:36 knocked me down in Miami, Florida. Miami Beach. 42:40 And he was in a convertible, I remember and I looked up 42:43 and he said are you all right, I said yeah. 42:45 Well, I didn't know what else to say, 42:46 I was alive and he took off. 42:49 He didn't even help me up. 42:51 He didn't stop or get out of his car, 42:53 I think he was afraid that I was going to sue him 42:54 or his insurance was going to go up. 42:56 I thought, well, that wasn't very nice. 42:58 Fortunately it didn't broke any bones or anything 43:00 but it did hurt my bike. 43:04 The degree that you offence someone requires 43:08 that degree of apology. 43:11 The more you hurt someone, the more you apologize. 43:14 How much have we hurt the Lord? 43:17 So the idea of just saying, oops, sorry God. 43:20 No, real repentance means you get on your knees. 43:24 And next verse 1 John 1:9. 43:28 It says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful 43:32 and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us 43:35 from all unrighteousness." 43:37 He will cleanse us but we must tell Him. 43:40 Do any of you remember every sin you've committed. 43:43 No, you don't remember every sin you've committed. 43:48 What I mean by that is you can't remember every detail, 43:52 I won't ask you to show your hands but I bet some of you 43:54 sometimes say something that wasn't true. 43:57 Or may be you have taken something that wasn't yours, 44:01 but you tell the Lord, the categories. 44:03 You say, Lord, I have not been honest, 44:05 that's one of the commandments. 44:06 Please forgive me for dishonestly or lying. 44:09 Please forgive me for being disrespectful to my parents. 44:12 Confess your sins to God and what will God do? 44:15 He is faithful and just to forgive you of your sins 44:18 and then it says that He receives you and we receive Him. 44:22 John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, 44:27 to them He gives the right to become the children of God." 44:30 He gives us power to be His children. 44:32 And He gives you new life, new heart. 44:35 Question Number 5. 44:37 Will my life change when I give it to Jesus and join His family? 44:41 And what does Jesus do to help me? 44:44 2 Corinthians 5:17 says 44:46 If anyone is in Christ, he is a what? 44:50 A new creature, isn't that amazing, 44:52 how that caterpillar you see there on your screen 44:55 can turn into that butterfly, what a metamorphosis, 44:59 what a transformation, God will do that for you, 45:02 where you are crawling around eating leaves, 45:05 you will be flying drinking nectar 45:08 if God can do that with a bug, 45:09 He can do it for you. 45:11 You become a new creature. 45:13 Jesus says you show you love to Him 45:16 by being willing to follow Him. 45:17 "If you love Me, keep My commandments." 45:21 He has given you new heart, because He loves you, 45:23 you love Him back. 45:25 And then you have a new birth, The Bible says, 45:28 "You must be born again." 45:30 You know something amazing happened just-- 45:33 think it was couple of weeks ago. 45:35 There is a little baby named Macie Hope McCartney, 45:38 parents were Chad and Keri McCartney 45:41 and this little girl was born twice, she was born again, 45:44 you know and we're not talking about religion. 45:47 The doctors when mommy was six month pregnant 45:49 found that the baby had a dangerous tumor 45:51 growing on her back, and if they didn't operate, 45:54 she wasn't going to live. 45:55 So six months into the pregnancy, 45:58 they took the baby out of mommy's tummy far enough 46:01 where they can do little surgery and take the tumor off 46:04 and put it back in two months later she was born again 46:07 and everything was fine. 46:09 So I don't know what her birthday is, 46:10 because she was born twice. 46:13 You need to be born twice. 46:15 How many here were born once so far? 46:16 Let me see, at least once. 46:18 Everyone born once, just checking to see 46:19 if you are paying attention. 46:20 Everybody has been born one time right, 46:23 but you need to be born again. 46:25 That's the new birth by giving your heart to Jesus, 46:27 He gives you a new mind, new life. 46:30 You know what tell us in Jeremiah 1:15 46:33 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you." 46:37 God has known us through all eternity. 46:39 He has a plan for you a thousand years ago, 46:41 God knew about you and He has a great plan for your life, 46:45 but He won't force you, you must choose. 46:48 What will happen when you choose the Lord? 46:50 John 15:11 "These things I have spoken to you 46:55 that your joy may be full." 46:58 You want joy that's happiness and again Habakkuk 3:18, 47:03 let's all say Habakkuk, Habakkuk, 47:06 that's a hard book to say. 47:08 "Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, 47:10 I will joy in the God of my salvation". 47:13 Christians should be happy but again, 47:15 Psalm 40:8, "I delight to do your will, O my God, 47:20 Your law is in my heart." 47:21 God puts His law in our heart and it's a delight to serve Him. 47:25 Jesus game to give us an abundant life. 47:27 He wants us to have a full life and an abundant life, 47:29 that's why it's so important that now while you are young 47:33 you give your life to Jesus. 47:36 All right, I need two volunteers, 47:38 I want to have volunteers, I wonder-well, tell you, 47:39 let's have some of our visiting choir because 47:41 they may not be back, you can come, 47:46 okay, you can come up 47:47 I don't know your names, you don't have tags on. 47:49 Come on up. Look at the mystery chest there 47:51 and see if you see something that you can may be set on fire. 47:55 Look in the chest, go ahead, 48:03 The one you got it there? 48:05 All right, there should be two in there. 48:09 Okay, you can close the chest, let me help you. 48:11 There you go good job, set them, we'll set them here on top, 48:16 and all right, how many candles we got here. 48:20 Everyone see there are two candles here. 48:22 You know how to use one of these, 48:23 you press this thing down and pull the trigger, 48:25 you want to try like that. 48:26 Press-you've to press that button on top 48:27 and then pull the trigger. 48:29 Hold the button in. 48:33 It's probably not a good thing to have these kids to play 48:35 with matches in church ah. 48:37 Let me help you with that. 48:38 For the illustration purpose, that's all right. 48:42 There we go, all right, that was hard, 48:44 no wonder you were having challenge there. 48:45 All right, that's one, and that's two, okay. 48:49 Two candles. Are these candles the same? 48:52 No. Well, they are same color, 48:54 same stands, same wax what's the one difference? 48:58 One is tall, one is short. 49:00 Which candle is going to burn the longest? Tall. 49:05 Which one is going to burn the longest? 49:06 Tall. Tall one of course the tallest one is of same wax, 49:10 which one is going to give the most light? Tall. 49:13 The taller one will burn longer 49:15 it will give more light, isn't that right? 49:18 Here is the point what's worth more? 49:21 10 plus 70 or 70 plus 10? 49:27 Oh, I know it sound like 10 plus 70 is the same as 70 plus 49:30 10 mathematically but with your lives what's better, 49:34 give your heart to Jesus when you are 70 49:37 and serve Him for 10 years, or give your heart to Jesus 49:40 when you are 10 and serve Him for 70 years. 49:44 How much, isn't it worth more to give 49:46 your heart to Jesus when you are 10 and serve Him for 70 years. 49:50 It's good for everybody to give the heart to Jesus. 49:53 But, what's the best time to give your heart to Jesus 49:55 so you can get the most right out into the world. 49:59 It's when you got your life before you. 50:01 All right you girls each one will blow out a candle. 50:05 There we go, thank you very much. 50:07 Okay, let's give them a hand. 50:14 A father was sailing through the warm Caribbean waters 50:19 with his two teenage boys, and the father knew 50:22 that they are going through some shark infested waters, 50:24 so he told his boys do not play near the edge of the boat 50:29 for the next few days because we don't want you to fallen in, 50:31 there is lot of sharks in these waters, 50:33 and these sharks they do attack people. 50:36 Well, the boys weren't listening because they had never seen 50:38 any sharks for weeks, and they were running around 50:41 the ship chasing each other and one of them began to slip 50:46 and he grabbed his brothers t-shirts 50:47 and the two of them fell off into the warm water, 50:50 well the father heard the splash, 50:52 the boys were good swimmers 50:54 and as the sailor boat started to sail away 50:56 from where the boys fell in they are calling, 50:58 they are shouting, the father came up from below 51:00 the deck of the sail boat and he saw his boys 51:02 and he lowered the sail down so the boat 51:05 would stop floating away and told the boys 51:09 come on back to boat. 51:11 Well, they were out there dunking each other, 51:12 arguing and fighting as teenage boys do. 51:15 And the father then looked in the water was very clear 51:18 and guess what he saw circling, He said boys 51:23 those aren't dolphins, I see sharks said swim quickly 51:28 back to boat, do it calmly, so you don't disturb 51:31 the water and swim back to the boat 51:34 and the boys thought, oh we got lots of time. 51:37 Dad is just trying to scare us. 51:38 There's no sharks, we haven't seen shark, 51:40 he is trying to teach us a lesson. 51:41 So they said let's show him that we are not afraid, 51:44 they began to dunk each other and play 51:45 and the father said hurry back to the boat. 51:48 He saw the sharks were closing their circle. 51:52 A shark can smell one drop of blood 51:55 in hundreds and thousands of gallons of water. 51:58 And the father knew that if something 52:00 didn't happen those sharks will go and take the first bite, 52:03 and they would smell blood and go into frenzy 52:05 and his boys would be killed and so on a desperate effort 52:09 to save his boys, the father went below deck he got a knife, 52:13 he cut his wrist he dove in the water and he swam away 52:17 from boat in a different direction and then the boys saw 52:21 the water beginning to turn and turn red. 52:24 Now, here is the question. 52:26 If those children stay in the water, 52:29 is any more the father can do for them, 52:31 after he has given his life. 52:33 If we decide to stay in the world, 52:35 and to stay in sin after God has come to save us, 52:39 what more can He do than giving His life? 52:42 There is only one life boat. 52:44 You know what the life boat is? Jesus. 52:47 You remember there was a storm on the sea, 52:50 and Jesus calmed the storm the disciples survived 52:53 the storm because they were in the boat with Jesus. 52:56 Nothing in the world could sink that boat, 52:58 that boat was unsinkable. 53:00 The only unsinkable ship is the boat with Jesus in it. 53:03 Don't you want to get on that life boat? 53:06 I would like to invite you to take your cards, 53:09 I think we've got some cards here in our groups. 53:11 Now we did this a couple of nights ago, 53:13 but we know we have some new children every night. 53:15 And tonight we are talking about salvation. 53:17 I want to ask you again. 53:19 If you like to make a decision to accept Jesus as your Savior. 53:23 Please take the cards that we are passing now. 53:26 There is some simple questions here. 53:27 Write your name and your address on it. 53:29 Some of you if you like to make a decision for Jesus 53:32 and your may be a home, you can contact us at Amazing Facts Kids 53:37 and we'll try to put you in touch 53:39 with a Bible teaching, preaching church. 53:42 If you make a decision tonight, for the Lord kids, 53:44 make sure and talk to your parents about this. 53:48 Talk to your pastor, your youth pastor, 53:50 your group leader, but I want to have prayer 53:53 with you again that you will know 53:55 that you've got Jesus in your heart. 53:58 There is three questions on the card. Simple questions. 54:02 Yes, I want to give my heart to Jesus 54:05 and follow the teachings in the Bible. 54:08 The second question, check yes there. 54:10 I would like to be baptized and have 54:12 all of my sins washed away. 54:15 Check that box if you are interested in baptism, 54:17 make sure and talk to your parents too about 54:19 that and your pastor and they can help you plan 54:22 for that and angels will sing. 54:25 Question 3. You'd like meet with the pastor 54:28 and talk to them about baptism, 54:30 Please write your name on your card. 54:32 This is the way you can begin the first step 54:34 of getting in that life boat, and knowing 54:37 that you got eternal life. 54:40 And again I want to encourage 54:41 all of our friends who are watching. 54:43 If you would like to make this decision, hopefully your groups 54:46 have the decision cards, or you can just go 54:48 to amazingfactskids.org let us know. 54:52 We will try and contact you 54:53 and encourage you in your decision. 54:55 Now, we're going to need that prayer 54:57 and then here are our local group, 54:58 you can finish filling out your cards after we have prayer, 55:01 so let's just stop our pencils for just a second 55:04 and let's all pray together, with our friends 55:06 who are watching on TV, okay. 55:10 Father in heaven, we are so thankful 55:12 for the sacrifice of Jesus. 55:15 You are loving us so much that You gave Your Son, 55:18 You gave your life that we might be saved. 55:21 We know the only life boat 55:23 that's going to survive the storm, 55:25 is the one with Jesus and we want to be in that boat, Lord. 55:28 We are accepting Him, we're asking Him, we're believing. 55:32 We are sorry for our sins and we want that new life. 55:35 Thank you Lord, for praying in Jesus' name, amen. 55:40 God bless you friends. 55:41 Don't forget tomorrow night lesson 55:43 we will be meeting again it's called "A Day with the King." 55:46 We look forward to see each of you then, bring your friends. |
