00:11 Hi, Kids.
00:12 You want to hear an amazing fact. 00:14 Humming birds are some of the most 00:15 incredible creatures that God has made. 00:17 They are beautiful. 00:19 They come in virtually every color of the rainbow. 00:22 There are some bigger ones, but they have got 00:23 some hummingbirds in Cuba, they are like a bee. 00:26 No bigger than a pinto bean 00:28 with wings and they fly very quickly. 00:31 A hummingbird beats its wings 70 times a second. 00:35 And they can do incredible acrobatic maneuvers. 00:37 They are so fast, they can terrorize birds 00:39 much bigger than themselves. 00:41 The reason they have so much energy 00:43 is they have to feed very frequently on nectar. 00:46 Every 10 or 15 minutes, they need to eat 00:48 to keep up their metabolism. 00:50 If you and I eat as many calories 00:52 as the hummingbird eats, 00:54 well, that'd be about 155,000 calories a day, 00:58 about 50 pounds of sugar per person. 01:01 They need to do this to keep their energy level up. 01:04 So something very interesting happens 01:06 to a number of the hummingbirds 01:08 that live in the southwest around Texas. 01:10 Once a year, instead of eating every 5 or 10 seconds, 01:13 they eat almost constantly trying to store up 01:16 and tank up on the nectar, because they then make 01:19 a 500-mile epic migration across the Gulf of Mexico. 01:24 They know they can't stop and feed along the way. 01:27 So they store up 01:28 all of the calories and strength 01:29 that they can to get to a virtual paradise 01:32 they find in the YucatA!n Peninsula, 01:34 where they vacation, 01:35 and they grow more little hummingbirds. 01:37 So kids, in the same way 01:39 that the hummingbird stores up nectar 01:41 to take this epic journey across the sea, 01:43 you and I need to store up on the Word of God 01:45 to prepare for the last days. 01:47 We're gonna teach you how. 01:48 So come onboard and join us now for an amazing adventure. 02:11 Good evening, boys and girls, 02:12 and welcome to Amazing Adventure, 02:15 A Journey for Life with Jesus. 02:17 We are so glad 02:19 to see you all here in Michigan, 02:20 but also like to welcome those who are joining us 02:22 across the country and around the world 02:24 for this very exciting adventure 02:27 into the truths of God's Word. 02:29 My name is Jean Ross, and I'll be your host 02:31 for this special discovery mission 02:34 that we're gonna be embarking on in just a few moments. 02:37 Now, as you notice here on stage, 02:38 the theme for this adventure 02:40 has something to do with sailing, 02:42 it has to do with voyage, it has to do with discovery. 02:45 And I think those who built the set did a fantastic job. 02:48 It looks great. 02:49 You know, the Bible has a lot to say about voyages, 02:52 talks about boats, talks about ships. 02:54 And so you'll find out how that fits into our theme 02:57 that we're gonna be talking about on this adventure. 03:00 But if we're gonna hit out on a voyage, 03:03 we need to have our first officer, 03:06 who's gonna be at the wheel guiding us 03:08 through this adventure. 03:09 And I'm so glad that Pastor Doug Batchelor 03:12 is going to be here and he's gonna lead us 03:14 in our Bible discovery. 03:16 So I'd like to invite our first officer, 03:18 Pastor Doug to come on stage. 03:25 Hello, boys and girls. 03:27 We are gonna have some fun. 03:28 Of course, I've got my lieutenant officer 03:30 here Pastor Ross, Captain Ross. 03:33 I put on my hat, Pastor Doug. 03:34 We're ready for the voyage. You seem in first class. 03:36 You know, before we begin this journey, 03:38 we're gonna sing a song together. 03:39 I think some of you have learned. 03:41 We've got our singers, 03:42 who are gonna join us on stage now. 03:44 We're gonna begin singing that song, 03:45 "Life is an Adventure." 03:46 We want the friends watching at home, 03:48 you can sing along with us. 03:50 You'll probably see the words on the screen, 03:52 those of you are following along, 03:53 "Life is an Adventure," 03:55 and for those of you didn't know, 03:57 the song was written by Pastor Doug. 03:59 So be glad he's here to play the guitar 04:01 and we'll sing together. 04:07 Life is an adventure Following the King 04:12 Every day with Jesus Makes us want to sing 04:17 Walking in the spirit He will lead the way 04:23 With his words to guide us Glowing deep inside us 04:28 Nothing can divide us Following the King 04:35 Life is an adventure Following the King 04:40 Every day with Jesus Makes us want to sing 04:45 Conquering with kindness Everywhere we go 04:51 Voices we are raising Jesus we are praising 04:56 Life is so amazing following the King 05:02 Life is so amazing following the King 05:11 Amen. Amen. 05:13 All right, thank you singers. 05:17 At this time, I'd like to invite Alex 05:18 to come forward and Alex is going to be having 05:20 our opening prayer for us this evening. 05:24 And Alex is from Michigan. 05:25 Let's bow our heads as we pray. 05:27 Dear Jesus, thank You for this opportunity 05:30 for Pastor Doug to come and speak to us. 05:33 Please help him, please guide him. 05:36 And thank You for camp meeting, 05:37 and thank You for Amazing Adventures, 05:38 and all the work that's gone into it. 05:40 In Jesus' name, amen. Amen. 05:41 Amen, Thank you Alex. All right. 05:46 Now, Pastor Doug, we've got some folks 05:48 who are watching us live, but then we also had 05:50 those who sent in some Bible questions, 05:53 some video Bible questions, 05:55 and we had kids ask their question 05:57 from literally all over the place. 05:59 I know from India, we had some questions, 06:01 some from the Philippines. 06:02 So we're gonna take a few moments right now 06:04 to answer some of the questions that have come in 06:07 from around the world. 06:09 So we're ready to look at our first question. 06:11 Hello, my name is Ona, I am 11 years old 06:14 and I'm from Ypsilanti, North Dakota. 06:17 My Bible question is, "When did dinosaurs 06:19 go extinct and why?" 06:21 All right. All right. 06:22 When did the dinosaurs become extinct and why? 06:26 You know, whenever we say dinosaurs, 06:27 we're always thinking about just the real big lizards, 06:30 but there are all kinds of prehistoric animals 06:34 that don't exist anymore. 06:36 We know that God told Noah 06:37 to take two of every creature on the ark and Noah obeyed. 06:42 But from the time of the flood until the present, 06:44 a lot of animals have either died 06:47 from the environment, or the environment change, 06:50 or they were hunted into extinction. 06:52 Bible talks about a man named Nimrod, 06:54 who was a mighty hunter, and you don't get 06:56 the title mighty hunter because you kill mice. 06:59 He was probably killing some big creatures 07:01 and maybe he helped kill off 07:03 some of the first few dinosaurs. 07:05 And someone's gonna ask, 07:07 "How did they get dinosaurs on the Ark?" 07:09 Well, Noah wasn't told he had to take 07:10 full grown dinosaurs. 07:12 He could have taken itty bitty ones. 07:13 He could have taken two eggs, I don't know. 07:16 But eventually, 07:18 some of these great mammals and reptiles, 07:22 the dinosaurs were extinct, 07:24 probably shortly after the flood. 07:27 All right. Thank you, Pastor Doug. 07:28 I think we have another Bible question 07:30 that's coming in. 07:31 Hi, my name is Eliah and I'm 12 years old, 07:33 and I'm from California. 07:35 And my question is, 07:36 "How do we differentiate the difference 07:38 from good angels from bad angels?" 07:40 Well, good angels are always going to impress and guide you 07:44 in doing those things that correspond with the Bible. 07:48 A bad angel is not gonna be wanting you 07:50 to follow God's Word. 07:52 The bad angels are gonna try 07:53 and get you to do the bad things. 07:54 Good angels are always gonna try 07:56 to get you to follow the Word of God 07:58 led by the Holy Spirit. 08:00 All right, we got one more question 08:02 that we're gonna be looking at. 08:03 Hey, my name is Elsa, and I'm from Idaho. 08:06 I'm nine years old, and my question is, 08:08 "Why does God allow trials to come upon Christians?" 08:12 Well, the Bible talks about a man named Job, 08:15 and it tells us that 08:16 he was a good and a perfect man, 08:18 but the Lord even allowed the devil 08:20 to bring some temptations and trials on Job. 08:24 Peter tells us that, 08:25 "Our faith grows through fiery trials." 08:28 Faith is like a muscle. 08:30 Muscles don't get strong 08:31 unless you're actually lifting something 08:33 or holding something, 08:35 and the heavier the weights, the stronger the muscles. 08:37 And as you go through trials, if you want to learn patience, 08:41 you're gonna go through trials that test your patience 08:43 and you become a very patient person. 08:46 If you're gonna want to learn love, 08:47 sometimes you'll be around some unloving people, 08:50 and that's when you learn to love. 08:51 And so the Lord helps us develop the characteristics 08:54 like Jesus as we go through the different tests and trials. 08:58 Well, Pastor Doug, tonight is a very important lesson, 09:00 kind of an exciting one. 09:02 It's called, The Treasure Map, and it kinda gets our bearings 09:05 as we head off on this adventure. 09:07 So we'll turn the time over to you. 09:08 Amen. 09:10 Thank you, Pastor Ross, and I want to welcome you 09:11 again young people 09:12 that have come to this special program, 09:14 and those who are watching on television. 09:17 This is the first in a series on Amazing Adventure series, 09:20 we're gonna take this our ship, the HMS Adventure, 09:22 HMS means His Majesty Service. 09:25 And we're gonna go on an adventure talking about 09:27 what the real purpose of life is. 09:29 We got any adventurers out there with us? 09:31 I'm gonna be taking volunteers 09:33 during the program to come up here 09:35 and do some different things with me. 09:37 And so I'm just giving you a little heads up, so you know. 09:40 We'll be following a series of lessons 09:42 and tonight's lesson is dealing with The Treasure Map. 09:46 Now, have any of you ever seen a real treasure map? 09:49 Yes. 09:51 You know, a lot of people thought 09:52 they had treasure maps, 09:54 some probably drew maps and maybe they lost them. 09:58 There have been some people that found maps 10:00 where ships went down in the ocean. 10:02 They knew the longitude and the latitude, the position. 10:05 And from that map, they were able to dive down 10:08 and eventually find those ships, 10:10 some of them loaded with gold. 10:13 One called The California off of South Americans 10:16 and several off of the Florida Keys, 10:19 they found treasure down there. 10:21 And other people have looked for treasures in the hills. 10:24 But the real treasure we're talking about tonight 10:27 is in the Word of God. 10:29 I remember hearing an amazing fact 10:30 a few years ago. 10:31 In 1992, a man near Sussex, England 10:35 lost a hammer in a friend's field. 10:38 He knew his friend, you know, 10:40 a buddy that had a metal detector, 10:42 you know what those are. 10:43 You put on the headphones, you walk around, 10:45 and it beeps and when you find metal, 10:47 it goes beep, beep, beep and otherwise, 10:48 it's like, boo, boo, boo. 10:50 Then you find the metal, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. 10:53 And he thought I'll get my friend 10:54 with his metal detector, we'll find my missing hammer. 10:57 So he went out there and he started looking around, 11:00 and you know what he found? 11:02 He found one of the largest hoards, 11:05 a gold find called the Hoxne Hoard. 11:08 It had 14,000 coins of gold, 11:13 silver, and copper. 11:15 From the time of the Romans, it had bracelets 11:18 and millions of dollars worth of treasure over $3 million. 11:22 They don't know how to price it 11:23 because as artwork, it's priceless. 11:26 But in weight, it was over $3 million of gold, 11:29 and silver, and copper. 11:31 Somebody had buried their treasure in the field, 11:34 and they probably made a map and then they got arrested, 11:37 or put in prison, or they died, or got taken away. 11:41 And they never came back for their treasure. 11:43 And you know, the good part of the story is, 11:46 the man also found his hammer too. 11:49 So he found his hammer 11:50 and they found this incredible treasure, 11:52 so people do sometimes find treasure. 11:55 The biggest treasure is the Word of God. 11:58 I want to tell you a story, true story about a boy 12:02 who is taking care of some sheep back in 1948. 12:05 And we were just there a few months ago 12:08 in Israel by the Dead Sea. 12:10 And the boy was looking for some missing goats. 12:12 And he was out there 12:13 and it was hot and he was bored, 12:15 and so he picked up a rock 12:17 and he saw some holes up on the hillside 12:19 and he threw a rock, 12:20 and he used to see if I wonder if, you know, like a pitcher. 12:22 I wonder if I can get that rock inside that hole 12:24 and he threw a rock in there 12:25 and then he threw a rock in there, 12:27 but when he threw a rock in one of the holes, 12:30 something happened. 12:32 I need a volunteer. 12:34 Okay, you're close to the edge and you were first, 12:37 so why don't you come on up here. 12:40 All right. 12:43 Let's see if we can locate our... 12:46 I got so many treasures here. 12:47 Oh, why don't you look in the treasure chest? 12:49 See if you can find a pot. 12:51 This is the legal kind of pot we're talking about here. 12:55 Look around. There you go. 12:57 Grab the whole thing. Okay. 12:59 You can put that down. And what was your name? 13:01 Samuel. Samuel, good Bible name. 13:05 You reach in here and see if you can find some rocks. 13:10 Find a big one. All right. 13:14 We're gonna put you up on the deck here. 13:15 You can come up here with me. 13:17 Isn't it a cool set? Yeah. 13:20 Now, drop the rock on the wood. 13:24 Okay, now drop the rock on the pot. 13:30 Did that sounds a little different? 13:32 You gotta buy me a new pot, now. 13:33 I didn't tell you about that part of the story. 13:37 The boy, when he threw the rock, 13:40 when it hit dirt, it doesn't make a sound, 13:42 but it went... 13:44 And he said, "What is that?" 13:46 Let's give Samuel a hand. 13:48 Thank him very much for his help. 13:49 You get to keep the bag of rocks. 13:51 He heard that sound. He said, "What is that?" 13:53 He climbed up in there and you know what he found? 13:56 A bunch of clay jars that were filled with scrolls 14:01 of the oldest versions of the Bible that they know. 14:04 They were called, "The Dead Sea Scrolls." 14:07 It was probably one of the greatest treasures. 14:09 If you go to Israel today, 14:11 they built a whole museum with alarms 14:13 and three foot thick reinforced concrete, 14:16 and its high security. 14:17 And it's guarding a book. 14:20 It's guarding their national treasure, 14:22 the oldest scriptures they've got, 14:24 because the Jewish people, like most Christians, 14:29 believe the Bible is the Word of God. 14:31 And that's a picture of the cave. 14:33 And that's what one of the pots look like. 14:35 And that's on the screen, what they call, 14:37 "The Isaiah Scroll," 14:38 that has almost the entire Book of Isaiah was there. 14:42 And it has not changed. 14:44 It's almost identical 14:46 to what you have in your Bibles today. 14:48 God has done something to protect the Word of God. 14:52 You know, the most important decision 14:54 a young person can make 14:55 is that decision to follow Jesus 14:57 and begin that amazing adventure to eternity. 15:00 That's why we're so excited to tell you 15:02 about the new Amazing Adventure programs 15:04 that are available. 15:05 During these nearly 10 hours 15:07 of exciting high definition programs, 15:09 the young people will do science experiments, 15:11 learn about history, nature, encounter some wild animals, 15:15 and most of all, they will learn about 15:17 Jesus from the Word of God. 15:18 There's a beautifully illustrated Bible Study Guide 15:21 to go along with each of the video presentations. 15:24 These beautiful illustrated study guides 15:26 are full of pictures, and puzzles, and Bible stories. 15:29 They will lead your kids 15:30 through an incredible journey with Jesus. 15:32 And for me, the most exciting thing 15:34 is this new Amazing Adventure series 15:36 goes along with the Amazing Facts 15:38 Adventure Bible. 15:39 The Bible, the study guides, 15:41 the DVDs are all designed to lead your young person 15:44 on a Journey for Life with Jesus. 15:47 Call the number on your screen or contact us 15:49 at afbookstore.com. 15:53 Now, someone may have told you 15:54 that the Bible is just a fairy tale. 15:56 You ever heard that before? 15:58 But what does the Bible say about itself, 16:00 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, 16:04 and is profitable." 16:05 This is not the words of men. 16:06 The Bible is not just black ink on white paper. 16:10 These are supernatural and powerful words 16:13 that will change your life. 16:15 It could change hearts too. 16:17 Now the original Bibles were written on papyrus. 16:20 God wrote the Ten Commandments on stone. 16:23 And then about 1500, a man named Gutenberg 16:26 invented who knows what? 16:28 The printing press and they used to have to write 16:32 their Bibles out by hand. 16:33 All of a sudden Bibles began to go 16:35 like crazy all around the world. 16:38 And there was a great revival. 16:40 This is a picture 16:41 of the Gutenberg printing press. 16:43 And, you know, someone bought in 1992, 16:47 a Gutenberg Bible, 16:49 and they paid $3 million for a Bible, 16:52 because it was one of the first printed Bibles. 16:55 And so people recognize 16:57 that this is a great treasure in the Bible. 17:01 You know, whenever you go to court, 17:02 sometimes they tell you to take a vow, 17:05 you take an oath. 17:06 They put their right hand on the Bible. 17:08 When a new president is inaugurated, 17:11 he takes his oath of office. 17:12 He puts his hand on the Bible. 17:15 George Washington did that too and at the end, he said, 17:17 "So help me God." 17:20 Great people through history have known that 17:22 this is not an ordinary book. 17:24 This is a book that helps us find our way to heaven. 17:27 It is the great treasure map. 17:31 Some of you have smartphones. 17:33 I got a smartphone that's smarter than me. 17:36 When I come from the hotel, 17:38 my hotel is back through the country 17:40 and if it wasn't for my GPS, I would get lost. 17:43 I'm so thankful now, for these smartphones. 17:45 I used to look at maps. 17:47 Whenever I had to go visit people as a pastor, 17:49 I'd say, "That street is on A, 17:51 D" and a little bitty lines going everywhere 17:54 and I'd be driving up and down streets 17:56 and asking for directions, it took forever. 17:58 Now I just said, "Take me to 4911, Lexington Way." 18:02 And all of a sudden it tells me which way to turn. 18:07 It's got the map built-in. 18:08 When you read your Bible, the Holy Spirit will help it 18:12 become an internal GPS for you, 18:15 to guide you in the decisions that you make, 18:18 because there's a lot of very important decisions 18:19 you got to make. 18:21 All right, I need a volunteer. 18:24 The young lady on the front over here. 18:27 Now, you can take a peek in the treasure chest, 18:29 and what's your name? 18:31 Katie. Katie. 18:32 All right, you're gonna find 18:33 something in the treasure chest. 18:35 It's in a little vinyl case brown. 18:37 Right, you can open it up. 18:38 You find a little brown vinyl case in there? 18:40 You got it and see if you can close it, very good. 18:44 So you want to open that up? 18:48 Do you know what that is? Periscope. 18:51 It's a not quite a periscopes on a submarine. 18:55 Pull on the end of it. Watch what happens? 18:56 Here, I'll hold that for you. 18:58 This way? This way? Yeah. 19:00 Oh, kinda looks like 19:03 what we got on the screen up there now. 19:06 That's a telescope or spotting scope. 19:08 They used them on ships back before they had binoculars. 19:11 Now, that's kind of neat to look at. 19:13 But did they make those to look at them 19:16 or do you look through them? 19:17 Through them. 19:18 You look through them, don't you? 19:20 Is the Bible something that we're supposed to look at? 19:22 How many of you own the Bible? 19:24 How many of you look at your Bible every day? 19:26 Does it help you to look at your Bible? 19:30 I got a Bible right here. 19:31 You can look at it all day, it's not gonna save you. 19:34 You got to look at life through the Bible. 19:36 You want to take a peek through there. 19:37 I'll show you how that works. 19:40 I can't see directly. Well, yeah, you gotta turn it. 19:43 There you go. 19:44 Oh, I'm looking at the kid's smiling 19:45 right up front here. 19:47 Now he knows I'm looking at him and he's not smiling. 19:51 Now you see it? Mm-hmm. 19:53 There's a lot more fun to look through it 19:54 than look at it, huh? 19:55 I got good news. That's a gift for me to you. 19:58 So kids who come up, some of you will be 20:00 able to keep some things. 20:02 You can give Katie a hand. Tell her thank you very much. 20:04 All right. 20:08 Next question. 20:11 Now we're going through about eight questions tonight, 20:13 just so you know. 20:14 How can you know for yourself that the Bible is true? 20:18 Because Pastor Doug tells you? 20:21 I hope you believe me, but that's not the best reason. 20:24 The Bible says, 20:26 "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!" 20:30 Psalm 34:8. 20:31 You gotta taste for yourself that the Lord is good. 20:35 All right, I need a volunteer. 20:38 You saw the telescope go out 20:40 and, boy, you're all willing spirits now. 20:42 All right, let me see here. 20:43 If you can get out young man back there, 20:45 yeah, yep that's you, come on out. 20:47 I don't want to just ignore some of you that are deeper. 20:50 But front seats, get to the front here. 20:53 All right. 20:54 You're gonna find, you know, if you got a good boat, 20:56 and if anyone's gonna walk the plank, 20:57 you need a blindfold. 20:59 So open that up there and see, wave to the camera. 21:02 No, the one inside the chest. 21:04 Open up, go and open it up. And what's your name? 21:06 Jack. Jack, open it up. 21:08 You see a blindfold in there? 21:09 Why don't you grab that? All right. 21:11 Now will you allow me to put that on you? 21:16 Yeah, you can trust me. Now come on. 21:19 I'm gonna blindfold you. 21:20 Now you got it, we're using the honor system. 21:22 I want to make sure you can't see. 21:23 Can you see anything? No. 21:25 I can make sure. 21:26 This is my headband. 21:29 I'm sure, I washed it about a year ago. 21:32 Okay, can you see anything? No. 21:34 Do you like fruit? Yeah. 21:36 Okay, you do like fruit, right Jack? 21:38 Mm-hmm. 21:39 All right, hang on one second here. 21:41 I'm gonna hold a piece of fruit up front of you, 21:44 and I want you to tell me 21:45 if this is an apple or an orange? 21:47 I'm gonna let you smell. 21:48 Is your smell are working pretty good? 21:49 Mm-hmm. Pretty good. 21:51 All right, don't touch it now. 21:52 Smell, apple or orange? 21:56 Apple. Apple. 21:59 Right now, do you have any food allergies? 22:01 Nope. 22:02 I'm going to ask you to open your mouth. 22:03 I'm gonna put something in your mouth, 22:05 but you gotta trust me. 22:06 Lean your head back a little bit, 22:08 because I don't want to like stick my fingers 22:09 in your mouth, all right. 22:10 Now what is that? 22:12 A grape. A grape. 22:13 How do you know it's a grape? You didn't see it? 22:15 It tastes like a grape. 22:16 Because you tasted it for yourself, 22:18 you know what it is. 22:19 Now you want to see what the apple looks like? 22:20 You can take off your blindfold. 22:23 See, you can't trust pastors. 22:25 They don't always tell you the truth. 22:27 All right, you know what? 22:29 You get to keep the banana, 22:30 because I gotta keep my headband. 22:32 All right, thank you. Let's give him a hand. 22:34 Thank you, Jack. 22:36 So how do we know... 22:41 How do we know that the Bible works? 22:45 We tasted for ourselves. 22:47 Interesting man in history was Menelik. 22:51 He was the Emperor of Ethiopia, born in 1844. 22:54 He was one of the great kings that helped liberate 22:57 and consolidate Ethiopia. 22:58 He was very religious man. Good Christian. 23:01 He read in the Bible that, 23:03 "Man doesn't live by bread alone, 23:05 but by every Word of God." 23:08 And he thought, "Well, whenever I get sick, 23:10 if I would just eat some of the Bible." 23:13 And so when he got sick, he would tear out a page 23:16 or two of the Bible and eat it. 23:18 And he said, 23:19 "It always made him feel so much better." 23:23 Until the last time, 23:25 when he got old, he had a stroke. 23:27 He was feeling very bad, so he ate the entire book 23:30 of 1 and 2 Kings and then he died. 23:36 When the Bible tells us to eat God's Word, 23:38 it's the bread of life. 23:40 It doesn't mean literally eat the pages. 23:42 You don't want to tear the pages out of your Bible. 23:44 Question three. 23:46 Does God foretell the future in the Bible? 23:49 Does it? What's the Bible say about it? 23:51 God says in Isaiah 46:9-10. 23:54 He says, "I am God 23:56 declaring the end from the beginning, 23:59 and from ancient times things that are not yet done." 24:02 We know that God is God, because He can see the future 24:06 and everything He says is gonna happen it happens. 24:10 I need a volunteer. 24:13 Which side, I forget which side I went to last time, 24:15 let me go over there. 24:16 I see a young man's raising his hand the highest. 24:18 Okay, just play, altitude does help. 24:20 Come on up here. 24:22 I need you to go in the treasure chest, 24:24 and your name? 24:25 Sam. Sam. 24:26 You can open up the chest, 24:28 you're gonna see a statue in there. 24:30 See a statue in there somewhere? 24:33 Yeah, and also there's a rock. 24:34 You wanna get the rock out too. Here, let me help you. 24:37 See a little rock, it says, "Jesus" on it there. 24:39 Yeah, grab that. Okay. 24:42 All right, and turn around. 24:43 I want you to hold this up here for us? 24:45 How many of you know what this is? 24:47 There's about a story in the Bible. 24:49 This is a dream that King Nebuchadnezzar 24:52 had in Daniel Chapter 2. 24:55 And in that dream, Daniel told the king 24:58 that vision of images 25:00 represents the religions of the world 25:02 and the kingdoms of the world. 25:04 Starts with the kingdom, who knows the gold 25:06 was called the Kingdom of Babylon, 25:09 and the silver was Medo-Persia, 25:12 and the bronze, you gotta hold his legs here, 25:14 so Greece, and the legs were... 25:17 The Rome. 25:18 They were Rome, and the feet 25:20 were a mixture of the church and the Roman State. 25:24 And then the division of the Roman Empire 25:26 is 10 toes here. 25:28 And then the next thing that comes, 25:29 you got the gold, and the silver, and the bronze, 25:31 and the iron, and the clay, and the iron, and then a rock. 25:37 Who is the Rock of Ages? 25:38 What's it say on the front of your rock there? 25:40 You gotta show me. Here we go. 25:43 Who's the rock? 25:45 Jesus. Jesus. 25:46 This is the rock then it strikes 25:47 the image on the feet, 25:49 and it blasts it all, pulverizes it to smithereens 25:52 and it blows away and the rock... 25:54 He's very good at what he does. 25:56 And the rock turns into a great mountain 25:58 and fills the whole earth. 26:00 And so God... 26:02 And this will happen before... 26:04 The prophecy in the dream were given before it happened. 26:06 You can keep these now and you can, 26:09 that's my gift from me to you. 26:10 You can't play with them while I'm preaching, okay. 26:14 That outlined all the kingdoms of the world 26:17 from the time of Daniel up until Jesus comes 26:21 and everything has happened, 26:22 God sees the future perfectly. 26:24 He foretold all these kingdoms just as they would come 26:28 and He then interpreted that for King Nebuchadnezzar. 26:32 Does science support that the Bible is true? 26:36 Yes. 26:38 Bible's even a very scientific book. 26:40 You know, years ago in Europe, they were having problems 26:45 because they had a Bubonic plague. 26:49 Well, you know, Bubonic plague comes from fleas 26:52 that are on rats and mice. 26:55 And the fleas were there because there were no cats. 26:58 Because some people in the church said, 27:00 "Cats are evil." 27:02 They started killing all the cats in Europe. 27:04 And then what happens when there're no cats? 27:07 The mice and rats begin to multiply, 27:09 and people got these fleas 27:10 from the rats and they all got sick, 27:12 and they didn't know what to do. 27:13 And so some of the church leaders said, 27:15 "Maybe we should look in the Bible." 27:17 And the Bible talked about the laws of sanitation. 27:21 They began to follow the laws of sanitation in the Bible, 27:24 and it finally stopped the Bubonic plague. 27:27 In the Bible, it says, 27:28 "God hangs the earth on nothing." 27:30 Way back in the Book of Job, 27:32 one of the oldest books in the Bible. 27:33 He said, "The earth is not, 27:35 it's not sitting on the shoulders of Atlas." 27:38 And some that's what the Greeks said, 27:40 "That Atlas was holding the world on his shoulders 27:43 or that the world was on the back 27:44 of the big tortoise." 27:45 I used to think, "Well, 27:47 what's the tortoise standing on?" 27:48 And they had all these myths about 27:50 what the world was sitting on. 27:51 But the Bible says, "The earth is suspended 27:53 in space on nothing." 27:55 Furthermore, the Bible says, 27:58 "He sits above the circle of the earth." 28:01 And back when the Bible was written, 28:02 some people thought that the earth was flat. 28:06 If you remember, the story about 28:07 when Christopher Columbus said that he wanted to get 28:09 some ships from Queen Isabella. 28:12 So he could sail from the West to the East 28:17 going around the world and they said, 28:18 "You'll sail off the edge of the earth, 28:20 the earth is flat." 28:21 Said, no, the earth is round. 28:23 So even as late as Christopher Columbus, 28:25 many educated people thought the earth was flat, 28:28 but the Bible way back in the Old Testament, said, 28:31 "He sits on the circle of the earth," 28:33 that's in the Book of Isaiah 600 years B.C. 28:37 Does the message of the Bible all fit together? 28:41 Perfectly, even though the Bible is written by 28:44 who knows how many? 28:46 Roughly 40 people 28:48 over a period of 1,500 years, 28:52 some were shepherds, some were kings, 28:55 some were in palaces who wrote the Bible, 28:57 some were in prisons who wrote the Bible. 29:00 There were priests, and there were apostles, 29:02 they were pastors, 29:03 there are all kinds of different, 29:04 there were shepherds, as I mentioned. 29:08 But it's all one concise complete message 29:11 that talks about God's plan for us who He's like. 29:16 The Bible says in 2 Peter Chapter 2, it says, 29:19 "Holy men of God spoke as they were moved 29:22 by the Holy Spirit." 29:24 The Bible is miraculous in its harmony. 29:28 It all fits together perfectly. 29:29 The different writers in the Bible 29:31 support each other. 29:33 The Bible is miraculous in its origin. 29:37 It's fantastic, how? 29:39 Just all the way back from the time of Moses, 29:42 how God inspired him to write, 29:44 and man was able to supernaturally receive 29:48 these original conversations 29:50 all the way back to the Garden of Eden. 29:52 God gave this to them in vision 29:55 and He preserved it in its accuracy. 29:58 As I mentioned in the Dead Sea Scrolls. 30:00 Now if we started something right now 30:02 where I told you something, and you told her, 30:05 and you told her, and you told him, 30:06 you told him, you told her, you told him. 30:08 If I whispered in your ear a sentence 30:11 and you whispered in her ear, 30:13 and we went all the way back, 30:14 and all the way up here, and then I finally say, 30:16 "Okay, what did she whisper in your ear?" 30:18 Do you know, that message is gonna change. 30:21 I might start out and say, "Please pass the sugar." 30:24 And by the time the message gets to you, 30:26 it'll say, "Pigs are greasy." 30:28 Can be a totally different message. 30:30 Because as it goes from person to person, and people say, 30:33 "How could the Bible be so consistent 30:36 even though it's been translated 30:38 and printed so many times?" 30:40 God has miraculously preserved its accuracy 30:45 and the Bible is miraculous in its message. 30:49 The message of the Bible is that God has a plan for you, 30:53 He has a plan for you to live forever, 30:56 and that He wants to save you from evil 30:59 and take you to a kingdom. 31:00 We had a lesson 31:01 where we talked about that kingdom, 31:03 where you will have glorified bodies 31:05 and you will live forever and ever. 31:08 What's one of the greatest proofs 31:10 that the Bible is true? 31:12 It says in the Bible in 2 Corinthians 5:17. 31:16 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, 31:18 He is a new creation." 31:20 The greatest proof for the Bible 31:21 is the way He transforms people. 31:24 You can also read in 2 Corinthians 5:17, 31:27 "Old things have passed away, behold, 31:29 all things have become new." 31:31 Now, I know the Bible is miraculous in the way 31:34 that it transforms people, 31:35 because I was one of those people 31:37 transformed by the Bible. 31:39 Now, that's a picture of me when I was 11 years old. 31:42 And I'm smiling, but I wasn't very happy. 31:46 My parents didn't believe in God. 31:48 And my mother, she had a Jewish background, 31:51 but she wasn't religious 31:52 and my father had a Baptist background, 31:54 but he became an agnostic or an atheist. 31:56 He didn't believe in God. 31:58 And they sent me to 14 different schools. 32:02 That time, I was actually in New York Military Academy. 32:05 That's the same school where President Trump went. 32:07 But I didn't know him because he was older than me. 32:10 But in New York, and I got into a lot of trouble 32:14 because I didn't think there was a God. 32:16 And I used to think about killing myself, 32:19 because it seemed like people weren't very happy. 32:22 My mother was an actress in movies. 32:25 I don't know if any of you ever saw the movie, 32:27 The Ten Commandments. 32:28 My mother had a little part in that movie, very little. 32:31 Whenever the kids watch it, 32:33 I say, "Look, there goes, grandma." 32:34 That's it, she's gone. She was a songwriter. 32:37 She used to write songs for Elvis Presley. 32:39 She was a film critic. 32:41 She knew different actresses and actors all over the world. 32:46 But they weren't very happy. 32:48 And we knew these people, we went to their homes 32:49 and they came to our home. 32:51 They had millions of dollars, they were talented, 32:53 they were good looking 32:54 and I knew some that killed themselves, 32:56 because they were so unhappy. 32:58 My father was very wealthy. 33:00 My father actually owned two airlines at one time, 33:03 millions of dollars, private jets, 33:06 Rolls-Royce, Ferrari, Maserati, all these fancy cars, 33:10 lived in a mansion on an island in Miami Beach, 33:13 butler and a maid. 33:16 And he used to drink himself to sleep every night, 33:19 he wasn't happy. 33:20 So I didn't want to be a Christian. 33:22 I thought the Bible is a fairy tale. 33:24 So I got into all these other religions. 33:25 I was into Buddhism, and yoga, and mind control, 33:29 and meditation, and I was just looking for, 33:32 "What's the meaning of life?" 33:34 My father came to Boston, and he said, "Doug, 33:36 you've got to go back to school." 33:39 And he said, "I found a school, it's on a boat." 33:42 Not quite like this boat. This is a picture of the boat. 33:46 Except when I was on that boat, 33:47 I got this picture off the Internet. 33:49 The sails weren't red. 33:50 It was a boat called, The Vega. 33:53 And it was part of a school 33:56 that sailed around the world. 33:57 I thought, "Yeah, I'd like to do that." 33:59 See, I've lived on two different boats, 34:01 and I thought that'd be fun. 34:03 And so I went to the school. 34:04 My father flew me to Italy and we got on this boat 34:07 and it was sailing, but now the school I went to, 34:09 it's a special school, they taught there was no God. 34:13 They taught evolution, they taught atheism. 34:16 But now I'm meditating. 34:17 I said, now I think there's a God, 34:19 too many strange things are happening. 34:21 And I learned something. 34:23 We were sailing from Northern Africa over to Spain, 34:27 and we got into a terrible storm. 34:30 And water started to come over the boat, 34:33 and it was dark, 34:34 and it was Christmas time, and it was cold. 34:37 And I thought, "I'm gonna die." 34:39 And all the people on the boat, what do you think atheists do 34:42 when they think they are gonna die? 34:45 Pray. Praying. 34:46 All of them they started to pray. 34:50 But does God want us to pray because we're afraid? 34:53 It might be a starting point, but He wants us to pray 34:56 because we love Him. 34:58 And so I was praying too. 35:00 Well, I got back and came home 35:02 from that school for Christmas, 35:04 and I ran away for the last time. 35:05 I've never lived at home since I was still 16 years old. 35:10 And I got stuck on the highway hitchhiking 35:12 from Florida to California. 35:15 And I stood there for hours 35:16 begging someone to give me a ride. 35:18 And nobody would pick me up. 35:20 And finally I tried praying. 35:23 I said, "Lord, I know I've been a terrible person. 35:26 Will you please forgive me? 35:27 Help me get a ride, help me get some food." 35:30 And I prayed God would give me a ride with someone normal. 35:34 I said, "I need some money." 35:35 See I asked God for four things, 35:36 a ride to where I was going, some money, some food, 35:39 and a ride with someone normal, four things I prayed for. 35:42 I didn't know about praying in Jesus name. 35:44 I just prayed to God and asked Him 35:46 to forgive me and help me. 35:47 Soon as I finished praying, a van stopped, he picked me up. 35:52 He took me nearly 2,000 miles 35:54 right to where I was going in California. 35:57 He fed me all the way, 35:59 even though I didn't ask him too. 36:02 He gave me $40 when he dropped me off, 36:04 that was a lot of money back then 36:06 and I didn't ask for it. 36:07 I also did not ask for him to preach to me 36:10 all the way from Oklahoma to California. 36:13 He was a Christian and he was quoting the Bible 36:15 and he was talking to me about Jesus and I'm going, 36:18 "Oh, the Bible is a fairy tale. 36:19 I don't believe the Bible." 36:21 But I had to listen to him or jump out of the car. 36:24 And he was so nice to me, so it got me thinking. 36:27 So now I wanted to find God through nature. 36:30 So I moved up into the mountains 36:32 and I lived in a cave, like a hermit 36:34 for a year and a half by myself. 36:37 And I thought, I'm gonna find God, 36:39 I was tired of the city, money didn't bring happiness, 36:41 fame didn't bring happiness. 36:43 What is the purpose of life? 36:45 And the miracle is somebody 36:47 had been in the cave camping before me. 36:49 They left a Bible in the cave. I ignored it for a while. 36:54 But eventually I said, "I'm gonna read the Bible, 36:56 so I can argue with Christians." 37:00 And, boy, I tell you, the Bible is a powerful book. 37:03 I started reading Genesis like this can't be true. 37:06 Adam and Eve, Noah and the flood, 37:09 that can't be true, Tower of Babel, 37:11 I thought it was all a fairy tale. 37:12 But a voice inside kept saying that's true. 37:15 And then I saw the prophecies 37:16 all happened just like God said, 37:18 and the wisdom of what Jesus said, 37:20 so you grown up in the church. 37:22 I didn't know that Jesus said, "Turn the other cheek." 37:25 I heard it all my life, but I didn't know He said that. 37:27 I said, "Oh, Jesus said that." 37:30 Go the second mile, do not cast the first stone, 37:33 love your enemies. 37:34 I'm going, "Wow, Jesus was really smart." 37:37 Finally, I got on my knees up in the cave and I said, "Lord, 37:41 if you're real, I've tried everything else. 37:43 Will you forgive my sins and come into my heart?" 37:46 My whole life changed. 37:49 And it was the power of the Bible 37:50 that changed it all for me, and it'll change your lives. 37:53 The Bible can transform us. 37:55 Number seven. 37:56 When we accept the Bible as God's word, 37:59 can we know things that others are still searching for? 38:03 Yeah, you know, the Bible says, 38:05 "The Word of God will make you smart." 38:07 It says, "I understand more than the ancients, 38:10 because I keep your precepts." 38:13 And the Bible tells us that, Shadrach, Meshach, 38:16 and Abednego were 10 times wiser than all the wise men, 38:20 because they believed the Word of God. 38:23 And there're some other reasons I'll tell you later. 38:26 It tells us in Psalms 119, "Your commandments, 38:29 make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me." 38:33 And the Bible also says, 38:35 "The Word of God is quick and powerful, 38:38 and sharper than any two edged sword." 38:41 So the Word of God is like a sword. 38:43 Now, I'll tell you a little amazing fact. 38:45 How many of you have heard of the Pony Express? 38:48 See, we live in Sacramento now, Pony Express. 38:51 It only lasted for about three years. 38:53 But it went from St. Louis to Sacramento. 38:56 And these riders were the best riders in the world. 38:59 They'd get powerful strong horses 39:01 and it took hundreds of horses. 39:02 They ride 50 miles, they would jump off 39:04 another rider would jump on a fresh horse. 39:06 They would ride 50 miles, 39:08 and they jump off another rider, 39:10 and they carried very thin pieces of mail. 39:13 And it was very expensive, it was $5 a letter back then, 39:15 and that was a lot of money, but they had no train, 39:18 they had no telegraph. 39:20 The only way to get a message was Pony Express. 39:23 It used to be the fastest way. 39:25 But the Pony Express Riders, they had to be light, 39:29 so the horses could go faster. 39:30 The saddles were thin as they could make them. 39:33 The riders could not wear spurs, 39:35 they did not let them carry a gun, 39:37 because a gun was too heavy, 39:39 even though they were going through 39:40 some dangerous country. 39:42 But every Pony Express Rider 39:44 was given a Bible to take with them. 39:47 Because the people that founded the Pony Express 39:49 believed the Word of God was so important 39:52 that it should go with every messenger 39:54 and so they all carried a Bible. 39:56 You know what else, 39:57 not only is the Bible a special message, 40:00 and it's a sword, it's a shield. 40:03 Okay, I need a volunteer. 40:06 All right, let me see here. 40:07 Boy on the end here. Yeah, come on up. 40:10 I want you to look inside the treasure chest 40:12 and see if you can find some round red balls in there? 40:18 Go and wave, you're on camera. 40:22 You see some round red balls in there, in a box? 40:26 You find them? 40:28 Good job. Joseph was sold for silver. 43:27 Jesus was sold for silver. 43:29 Do you remember the story in the Bible, where it says, 43:31 "David went up on the Mount of Olives and he wept 43:34 when Absalom chased him out of the kingdom?" 43:37 The Bible says that Jesus went up 43:39 on the Mount of Olives and He wept over Jerusalem. 43:43 All the stories that you see in the Bible, 43:45 how many remember the story, 43:46 what did Samson do at the end of his life? 43:49 He went between the two pillars, 43:51 he stretched out his arms, and it says that 43:55 he knocked the temple of Dagon down 43:57 and he killed more by his death than he did by his life. 44:02 The Bible is telling us that Samson is even type of... 44:05 Jesus stretched out His arms when He died, 44:07 and He did more to defeat the enemy then 44:10 than He did any other time by His death on the cross. 44:14 So all of the stories in the Bible 44:17 are telling us something about Jesus. 44:20 It's like a puzzle piece, the whole... 44:22 Jesus said, "You read the Bible, 44:24 these are they that testify of Me." 44:28 So how can we understand the Bible? 44:32 We need to study it. 44:34 Here a little, there a little, line upon line, 44:37 precept upon precept. 44:39 When you're studying the Bible, 44:40 you don't read one verse and then just go on. 44:45 You want to compare scripture with scripture. 44:48 And then the Bible says in two or three witnesses, 44:51 so when you're wanting to find out what's true? 44:52 If you want to find out 44:53 what the Bible says about salvation, 44:55 read several verses about salvation. 44:57 If you want to find out what the Bible says 44:59 about heaven or hell. 45:00 Don't read one verse. 45:02 The more verses you have, 45:04 the more stable you are in your understanding. 45:07 It's like putting several nails in the truth 45:09 to give us more clarity. 45:12 All right, I don't know if you've ever heard the story 45:15 about the Mutiny on the Bounty. 45:17 Anyone here ever heard that story? 45:18 It's a true story, 1889 there was a ship 45:23 called the HMS Bounty. 45:24 This is the HMS Adventure. 45:27 And they were sailing down in Tahiti 45:29 and they had a captain. 45:31 His name was Bligh, Captain William Bligh, 45:33 and he was sort of notorious 45:35 for being a little bit difficult to get along with. 45:38 And Captain Bligh, 45:40 the sailors got so tired of him, 45:42 they mutinied. 45:44 And they rose up against him and they put Captain Bligh 45:49 and some of his loyal officers in a small lifeboat, 45:52 and they pushed them out. 45:53 They said, "We're not gonna have you 45:55 be our captain anymore." 45:56 But the problem is when you were part 45:58 of the British Navy, 46:00 if you committed mutiny, they hung you. 46:03 It was a death sentence. 46:04 So the sailors that took the ship, 46:07 they said, "Now, where do we go?" 46:08 The British have ships all over the world, 46:10 how are we gonna hide?" 46:11 Well, they went back to Tahiti. 46:13 Some of the men got off the boat 46:14 in the island of Tahiti, 46:16 it's like a little paradise, but eventually the British came 46:18 and caught and arrested them. 46:19 The other ones took the boat. 46:21 They got some women in Tahiti, 46:23 they knew they'd have to just go 46:24 find a deserted island somewhere. 46:26 And then they got a few extra men 46:29 to help as sailors. 46:30 They sailed the ship and Fletcher Christian, 46:33 who was the first maid who rebelled. 46:36 He found a map and he said, 46:37 "There's an island called Pitcairn Island. 46:40 It's got water and it's got some natural resources, 46:44 and nobody lives on it, 46:46 and it's out in the middle of nowhere. 46:48 We will go out there and start our own new community." 46:53 So they got the boat, they parked it in Pitcairn. 46:57 They took everything they could off the boat 46:58 that was any good, then they burnt the ship, 47:01 so the British sailing by would not see it. 47:04 And for a little while they did okay, 47:05 they all made little huts, 47:07 and they had their own wives and their families, 47:08 but one of the sailors he took some of the supplies 47:11 from the ship and he made a still 47:13 so he could make alcohol. 47:15 And the men began to drink and then they started to fight. 47:20 And pretty soon over the years, one by one, 47:23 there was anarchy and problems on the boat, 47:27 so that they killed each other off 47:29 until there were only 2 men, 47:32 11 women, about 23 children. 47:37 And eventually, John Adams, the one man, 47:43 he went to the bottom of Captain Bligh's chest 47:46 and he found the ship's Bible. 47:49 And he took the Bible and he started to read it, 47:52 and he told the women and he just said, 47:54 "We've gotta stop drinking, we've gotta stop fighting. 47:58 He destroyed the still." 48:00 And he kept reading the Bible, 48:01 pretty soon the whole family came together 48:03 to hear the stories from the Bible. 48:04 They had no books on the island and they began to pray. 48:07 They had morning and evening worship, 48:09 they would pray before they ate, 48:10 they would pray after they ate, they began to keep the Sabbath. 48:13 They became a very religious community. 48:16 So about 19 years later, a whaler stopped on Pitcairn. 48:21 They had not seen anyone in 19 years. 48:23 A Captain name Folger. 48:25 He came ashore and he said, "There's people on this island 48:29 and they speak kind of English gibberish, 48:34 but it's the most godly community 48:36 we've ever found." 48:38 It's because everything they did on this island now 48:41 was based on the principles from God's Word. 48:44 You know, what the Bible did on that island 48:47 it will do in your life. 48:49 Someone once said, 48:50 "Either the Bible will keep you from sin 48:53 or sin will keep you from the Bible." 48:57 Do you read your Bibles? 48:59 Now you may not understand everything 49:01 when you first read it. 49:04 How many of you understood your parents 49:05 when you were babies? 49:08 How many of you understand your parents now? 49:12 How many of you sometimes pretend you 49:14 don't understand your parents? 49:16 When you really do, huh, I don't know what do you mean? 49:22 But when you keep listening as a baby, 49:25 you didn't understand your parents. 49:27 And your parents probably talked 49:28 a little bit of baby gibberish to you too. 49:30 It's amazing to learn to talk at all. 49:32 Now you hear some parents, 49:34 "Oh, my little pookey dookey..." 49:36 But, then as the parents keep talking to the children, 49:41 you start understanding more. 49:43 So when you first started reading in the Bible. 49:45 I know when I first started reading the Bible, 49:48 when I was up there in the cave and reading the Bible, 49:51 it says, "The brethren came together." 49:53 I didn't know what brethren was. 49:55 I thought that meant breathe 49:57 and I thought that it was talking about 49:58 the breathing came together and what does that mean? 50:01 And whenever it said, You or ye, therefore shew, 50:05 and I thought I didn't speak King James. 50:07 I didn't know what that meant. 50:08 But you know what? I kept reading. 50:12 So if you don't first understand the Bible, 50:13 what do you do? 50:15 Keep reading. 50:16 If you don't first understand it, what do you do? 50:19 Keep reading. 50:21 You know, the reason you speak English, most of you, 50:24 is because you've been hearing English all your life. 50:27 And as you listen, you understand. 50:29 Now I read this, 50:30 there's scarcely a sentence in the Bible 50:32 I can read now, I understand 50:34 what the words are all through the Bible, 50:36 and it changed my life, 50:39 and it gave me real joy and happiness. 50:41 You know, my mom has gone now 50:44 and my father has gone, 50:47 and my brother, I had one real brother, 50:50 I still have a stepbrother. 50:52 My real brother has passed away. 50:55 And I think I'm probably 50:57 the happiest person in the family 51:00 because of what the Bible did for me, 51:02 it totally changed my life. 51:04 And what God did for me, 51:06 He wants to do for each one of us 51:08 is by your putting the Bible first. 51:10 Now we're gonna read on a little more here. 51:12 You know, in the Bible, 51:14 the central theme of the Bible is the cross. 51:19 It's when Jesus died on the cross, 51:21 that's where you see Satan's love of power 51:24 and God's power of love. 51:27 And in the ancient treasure maps, 51:31 some of them they'd have a map and they'd say, 51:34 "You know, you go 50 yards from this rock, 51:36 and there'll be a rock that looks like, 51:38 you know, a shark and then you go 51:41 another 50 paces this way, 51:43 and there's gonna be a cluster of trees, 51:45 and then you go to the left, and there will be dotted line, 51:46 and then you'll see a spring, 51:48 and then you go another 50 paces 51:50 north from there, an X marks the spot. 51:54 And sometimes they would draw at least in the old stories, 51:57 they draw an X in red and that would mark the spot 52:01 where the treasure is. 52:04 Well, you know, in the Bible, there is a treasure. 52:06 The Bible is a treasure. 52:08 But the map in the Bible is taken us to the treasure 52:11 where X marks the spot. 52:13 Who knows what that X is in the Bible? 52:16 It's the cross of Jesus. 52:19 The main theme of the Bible is all the way from Genesis 52:23 to Revelation is about the love of God 52:26 that was shown for you and me when Jesus died on the cross. 52:30 You know, when I decided back then 52:32 to accept the Lord in my life, 52:34 everything in my life changed. 52:37 I wish, when I was your age, I had known more about God, 52:41 I made so many mistakes, I wish I could forget. 52:43 But if I was young, if I could have been like, 52:46 8, 9, 10 years old and known about the Bible 52:49 and known about Jesus, I would have saved myself 52:50 a lot of trouble, a lot of heartache, 52:53 would have had a better education. 52:54 But God was still merciful to me, 52:56 but it all happened 52:57 because of the power that's in the Bible. 53:02 I've had such an amazing life. 53:04 I never would have thought 53:05 that God would give me an opportunity 53:06 to travel around the world, and talk to people about Jesus, 53:09 and have so many exciting experiences. 53:12 When you're a Christian, it's not boring. 53:14 The Christian life is the most exciting life. 53:17 I like to have fun. 53:19 I mean, I fly planes, I ride motorcycles and quads, 53:25 I like playing racquetball. 53:26 We're gonna probably play 53:27 some racquetball while we're here. 53:30 Photography, I scuba dive our family, 53:33 we go scuba diving, go underneath the water. 53:35 I've had the chance to live on boats, 53:37 and sail, and see some wonderful things 53:40 and kayaking down rivers, and life is really adventurous. 53:44 Being a Christian doesn't mean life is boring. 53:47 When I was young, before I knew about Jesus, 53:49 I thought the excitement in life came from, 53:51 I used drugs, I drink, I was using dirty words, 53:57 my mind was not in the right place. 53:59 But once I gave my heart to Jesus 54:01 and He moved into my life, the Bible says, 54:04 "Christ wants you to have an abundant life." 54:07 That's when life got really exciting. 54:09 And I started having all the fun in the world 54:11 because of what Jesus did for me. 54:13 And He wants to do that for you. 54:15 Question is, are you willing for God to teach you His truth 54:20 and have this new life? 54:22 How many of you would like to have this new life 54:25 that Jesus is offering you? 54:27 He's got a special plan for you. 54:29 Do you read your Bible each day? 54:32 Even if you don't read, you're gonna get 54:35 some new Bibles connected with this program. 54:37 Even if you don't read a whole chapter, 54:41 even if you read just a few verses, you know, 54:46 there're so many beautiful promises. 54:48 Who knows what the last words of the Bible are? 54:55 Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 54:58 Now, how many of you know 55:00 what the first words in the Bible are. 55:03 You know that one, that's the first few words 55:05 in Genesis, right? 55:06 Yes. 55:07 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 55:09 Who knows the last five words in Genesis? 55:14 In a coffin in Egypt. That's what it is. 55:20 But you know, the Bible says, 55:21 as you store God's Word in your heart, 55:24 it keeps you from sin, 55:25 "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, 55:27 that I might not sin." 55:29 And so God wants to save you from sin, 55:31 because He wants to save you 55:32 from all the misery and the unhappiness. 55:34 And how many of you would like to have that experience? 55:38 Amen? Amen. 55:39 He's got a special plan for each one of you. 55:42 The question is, are you willing to follow 55:44 that plan that God has for your life? 55:46 I'd like to pray for you before we close our program. 55:49 And as well as with those of you 55:51 who are watching at home, 55:53 and can we just bow our heads where we are? 55:57 Loving Father in Heaven, 55:58 we thank You so much for Your blessings. 56:00 We thank You for the wonderful gift 56:02 You gave us in Your Word. 56:04 We ask Lord that You will be 56:05 with each of the young people here. 56:07 Help them to see that 56:08 the Bible truly is a treasure map 56:11 to take us to Your kingdom, 56:12 and that they will make it a priority in their lives 56:14 to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness. 56:17 Guard them with Your angels, we pray, Lord, 56:19 fill them with the Holy Spirit. 56:21 And I pray that they can get onboard 56:23 for this adventure to Your kingdom, 56:25 because we pray in Jesus' name, amen. 56:29 Thank you very much and God bless you 56:31 and you who are watching. 57:00 Hi, friends, you know, the most important decision 57:02 a young person can make 57:04 is that decision to follow Jesus 57:06 and begin that amazing adventure to eternity. 57:09 That's why we're so excited to tell you 57:10 about the new Amazing Adventure programs that are available. 57:14 During these nearly 10 hours of exciting 57:16 high definition programs, 57:18 the young people will do science experiments, 57:20 learn about history, nature, encounter some wild animals, 57:23 and most of all, they will learn about Jesus 57:26 from the Word of God. 57:28 What's really neat is there's a beautifully 57:30 illustrated Bible Study Guide 57:32 to go along with each of the video presentations. 57:35 These beautiful illustrated study guides 57:37 are full of pictures, and puzzles, and Bible stories. 57:40 They will lead your kids through 57:42 an incredible journey with Jesus while they learn 57:44 about Bible doctrines like heaven, hell, 57:46 and how to be ready for Jesus coming. 57:50 And for me, the most exciting thing 57:51 is this new Amazing Adventure series goes along 57:54 with the Amazing Facts Adventure Bible. 57:56 And this is a Bible, I'll tell you, 57:58 it's full of studies, illustrations, puzzles, 58:02 special tools that make studying the Bible, 58:04 fun and interesting. 58:06 This new Amazing Adventure series 58:08 is the best ever. 58:09 The Bible, the study guides, the DVDs are all designed 58:13 to lead your young person 58:14 on a Journey for Life with Jesus. 58:17 To find out more how you can get yours, 58:19 call the number on your screen 58:21 or contact us at afbookstore.com. |
