00:01 I do not like the taste of water.
00:03 I don't like it, I don't like the taste. 00:05 I always drink soft drinks, pops, soda, you name it. 00:09 Well, now if that's your case 00:11 then the program is just for you entitled 00:13 "L" for Liquids. 00:15 We'll be right back. 00:38 Hi, welcome to Abundant Living. 00:39 My name is Curtis Eakins and my bride, 00:41 I'll let you introduce yourself today. 00:44 Paula Eakins. 00:45 And you're doing mighty fine today? 00:47 Thank you. All right. 00:49 Same color shirt, 00:51 so that by accident or we just think alike? 00:53 We think alike. 00:54 All right, great minds think alike. 00:56 Okay, thumbs up. All right. 00:59 Well, again, welcome to Abundant Living. 01:01 And this is part of the series called "The HEALERS." 01:05 And so we cover the "H" for Herbal Medicine, 01:09 we cover the "E" for Eating, 01:11 and we cover the "A" for Adoration, 01:13 praise and song, worship. 01:16 Now is the "L" for Liquids, all right? 01:20 And so we're gonna spell out a... 01:22 A word... 01:23 So we at the H-E-A-L now. 01:25 The heal, H-E-A-L. 01:27 All right. 01:28 And also, we have three references 01:30 that we used in doing this series, 01:32 and one of the reference is number one reference. 01:35 The word. Tier number one, God's Word. 01:39 Nothing supersedes that tier so we always start off 01:41 with the Word of God, as far as that's concern. 01:44 And in tier number two is our feature author 01:47 that we're using during this series, 01:49 is Ellen White, and that's number tie two. 01:52 And then tier number three 01:54 is clinical studies or scientific literature. 01:57 Now I always tier number four is everything else. 02:01 Everybody heard or read or whatever. 02:04 So we go with all three tiers or credibility. 02:07 But now let's go back to the tiers. 02:08 Because this is something that people have said to us 02:11 many times, honey in our travels. 02:13 I don't like to drink the taste of water. 02:17 I mean, I don't like it. 02:19 And I need something in it, some sugar or some coloring, 02:23 or whatever you go and drink Kool-Aid. 02:25 But I just don't like to taste of... 02:26 You know, honey, now, I don't know, maybe just me... 02:30 Now pure water. 02:32 And when someone says, 02:33 "I don't like the taste of water." 02:37 Since water, pure water doesn't have a taste. 02:40 Exactly, what do they mean? 02:42 I mean, is it just me? 02:44 Could you help me out 02:45 or I'm missing something or what? 02:46 I do not understand it. 02:48 I mean, it doesn't have any taste. 02:49 But I got one better than that one. 02:51 Okay. 02:52 I have people who say to me, "Girl, I would drink water, 02:53 but when I drink water, I gain weight." 02:55 Come on. Okay, now... 02:56 It has no calories. 02:58 You know what I'm saying? 02:59 And, folks, we're not making, is it? 03:02 You know, yeah. I don't like... 03:03 And it's like, when people, when person says, 03:06 "I don't like the taste of water." 03:08 Pure water. Okay, pure water. 03:10 It's almost like saying, you know, 03:12 since water doesn't have a taste. 03:13 It's almost like saying, 03:15 "I don't like the color of air." 03:18 Well, air doesn't have a color. 03:20 Now I think what it is, 03:22 is the taste buds have been so perverted 03:26 for so long that to really relish water, 03:31 good pure water, they need something in it. 03:35 Some fizz, some sugar or something, otherwise, 03:39 the taste buds are simply perverted 03:41 and they really cannot relish 03:43 a good cold, cool glass of water. 03:46 I think that's what it is. I mean, that's my take on it. 03:49 What I usually get is, 03:50 I get people saying the fact of, 03:52 well... 03:53 When I asked a client, 03:55 when he come to us and we're being evaluated 03:57 and going through some different things, 03:59 their diseases, they come over with their medicines 04:01 and the doctor report and then they come in 04:03 and we talk about the water issue. 04:05 And I always ask them because I wanna know 04:07 how much sleep have they been getting? 04:09 Who's stressed them out? 04:10 You know all that goes with the whole lifestyle, 04:12 we're talking about seven powerful healers. 04:13 Right. 04:14 Then I'll say something like this, 04:16 do you drink water? 04:17 And they always say, "Oh, yeah, I drink water." 04:18 And then I say, "Okay, well, 04:20 tell me how much water have you had today?" 04:21 And that thing is so amazing, is they'll say... 04:25 Let me see. 04:27 I don't think I drink how much... 04:30 Okay, I said, now that's a lot of thinking. 04:31 Yeah, yeah. 04:33 Do you see how they run away? 04:34 Otherwise if you have to think about it, 04:36 normally they try to... 04:38 Yeah, I drink about 04:39 six, seven cups or something like that 04:41 and usually that's not the case. 04:42 No, no. 04:44 Trying to impress us. That's, it. That's it. 04:45 So this one about water and liquid 04:47 is so very important. 04:48 Yeah, liquid is a powerful healer, folks, 04:50 and of course we're working from our workbook right here, 04:53 The Seven Powerful Healers. 04:55 We did this class 04:56 at the first Seventh-day Adventist Church 04:57 in Huntsville, Alabama, 04:59 for several times and we actually had 05:01 a health retreat, too, on the HEALERS. 05:03 And camp meeting. 05:04 And camp meeting at South Central Conference, 05:06 Oakwood University campus as well. 05:08 So we walk into this 05:10 and we're not gonna cover everything 05:12 in the workbook on liquids, 05:13 L for Liquids but we're gonna cover 05:16 as mostly we can until we have enough space 05:19 in the kitchen for a demonstration as well. 05:21 So, but L for Liquids is a powerful healer 05:25 and hopefully we gonna give you enough information, 05:27 that you can almost reduce those medications 05:31 safely and effectively 05:33 with the help of a healthcare professional. 05:35 All right. 05:36 So you know we always start up by going to the Word to say, 05:38 what does the Bible have to say about water. 05:40 Well, we always go to God's Word. 05:42 Let me preface this first of all. 05:44 Now I know that talking to the mature audience, 05:49 not older people but the mature audience. 05:51 Yeah, watch that. Yeah. 05:52 They will say, well years ago, you know, growing up. 05:55 Now, we had a well and we had to go in a backyard 05:59 and whatever down street and we pump, you know, 06:02 and you get some water out and some people kinda 06:06 you know went one step further than that, 06:08 they kinda made it more dramatic. 06:10 Well, I had to travel five miles 06:12 and had to pump for two hours and got three drops, 06:15 you know, whatever and so it's very inconvenient, 06:18 it really is. 06:20 When God made mankind, 06:23 He created the Garden of Eden, 06:26 He did something in the Garden of Eden 06:28 to make it very convenient for them to drink water. 06:34 It's found in Genesis 2:10. 06:37 And the Bible says, 06:39 and a river went out of Eden 06:42 to water the garden 06:44 and from thence it was parted, and became four heads." 06:48 The river went out of Eden, 06:52 therefore it didn't go through, 06:54 it went out off. 06:55 In other words, the river started, 06:59 the mouth of the river started smack-dab 07:02 in the middle of the Garden of Eden. 07:04 So no doubt, convenience not only to water the garden, 07:08 but for no doubt to also give our first parents 07:11 the refreshing cool drinking water right there. 07:14 They don't have to go anywhere else 07:16 but in the Garden of Eden itself. 07:17 So that makes it very convenient 07:19 as far as that's concerned. 07:21 So water is very important and it's also referred 07:24 throughout the Word of God as far as water. 07:27 Well, even Jesus because it's so important... 07:30 Even Jesus what the woman at the well, 07:32 John Chapter 4, He says to a woman, 07:37 you call me to this well here but I can give you something 07:40 that you would never thirst. 07:42 And He's referred to as the living water 07:44 because our body's made of 70%, 65% of water, 07:50 so we need water. 07:51 And that living water. 07:52 The living water. That living water. 07:54 Need that even more than a physical water. 07:56 Yeah, once the Spirit of God gets into you 07:58 after you've have accepted Him as your personal savior, 08:00 He gives you living water 08:02 that's not only for now, 08:05 but for the New Jerusalem coming in. 08:09 That's right. New water. 08:10 That's right, the living water. 08:11 New life. 08:13 New life. 08:14 Okay, so here's a question in, 08:16 how much, okay, you know we just... 08:18 Okay. 08:19 I want you to listen carefully on this thing. 08:21 I know this was coming. 08:23 Listen up. This is coming. 08:25 We get so many times the people say, 08:27 okay, 08:28 how much water should you drink each day? 08:34 So, Curtis, what is just one of things you'll say? 08:38 Well, the most popular response 08:43 to that question... 08:45 Are you listening? Are you listening? 08:46 Is drink half your weight in ounces. 08:52 So let me break this down. 08:53 This is the most popular one. 08:54 Break it down. 08:56 I'm not sure where this started. 08:58 Who started it? 08:59 I tried to track it down but anyway... 09:01 So first, let's just make it plain and simple. 09:03 Okay. 09:04 Suppose I weigh 100... 09:05 I weigh 200 pounds. 09:07 Okay. 09:08 Half of that is 100, okay. 09:11 So that's 100 ounces. 09:13 Okay. 09:14 All right, about may be just over 11 cups, 09:16 12 cups give and take. 09:20 What we need to understand is this. 09:22 In a medical literature 09:24 there's a term called water balance. 09:30 Water balance, now let me explain this. 09:34 We lose water through several faculties, 09:38 we lose water, of course, 09:39 our urine, our feces, 09:43 perspiration and also condensation, 09:46 by breathing. 09:47 Put a glass on it, you can see the con... 09:49 So we lose water by that. 09:51 We take in water through our food. 09:54 Now that can vary based on what we eat, all right. 09:57 But the amount of water we take in from our food 10:01 does it equal to the amount of water that we lose? 10:04 To make up the difference so that it will be balanced, 10:08 we have to drink x amount of water. 10:10 So therefore, now that can vary, 10:13 so we have in our workbook here 10:16 I think it's page... 10:18 I think it's 20-21. 10:20 There are list of foods here in our workbook 10:23 that list the amount of water percentage 10:27 based on certain foods, all right, in our workbook. 10:30 And so, let me just say this. 10:32 If a person eats a lot of foods and vegetables, 10:37 then he need less water 10:38 because lot of fruits and vegetables contain water. 10:41 For instance, you have your cooked spinach, 10:46 cantaloupe, strawberries, 10:48 watermelon, lettuce, cabbage and celery, 10:50 they contain over 90% water. 10:54 So a person who eats those foods, 10:56 a lot of those fruits and vegetables 10:58 they need less water 10:59 'cause they get that water in their food. 11:01 Okay. 11:02 But now if a person eat a lot of meat, flesh foods, 11:05 very little water content in that, they will need more. 11:08 So, well, it depends on the climate. 11:12 Of course, we lose more water in the summertime, 11:14 we sweat more, we exercise more, 11:16 we lose more so we need more water 11:18 to replace that as well. 11:19 So here's the good thing that we suggest... 11:22 We suggest that you look at your urine, 11:26 whatever it takes for your urine 11:29 to not be a gold color. 11:33 Now for me, just using me as an example for me, 11:37 for my urine not to be a gold color, 11:41 or yellow color for me 11:43 based on my lifestyle my eating habits. 11:46 For me it's right at about five and half cups, for me. 11:51 Therefore, you know that your kidneys 11:53 are not working overtime, all right. 11:57 So, but for some people, I remember one lady said, 12:01 "If I drink half my weight in ounces," she says, 12:06 "I might as well move into my bathroom. 12:07 I know, that's right. I mean... 12:09 You know, so I mean 200 pounds, 12:11 220, you looking at 12, 13 cups. 12:14 That's more than twice as must as most people need. 12:17 So that half your weight in ounces, 12:20 it has no basis in scientific literature, 12:23 but based on these clinical studies 12:25 the water balance, it makes sense. 12:27 So, of course, now, 12:28 if you drink a lot of caffeinated beverages, 12:31 you lose the water, that's a deficit as well. 12:33 But again about 5, 6 cups 12:35 some people may need little bit more, 12:36 some people need a little bit less. 12:38 But that's based on your urine and look at that, 12:41 it kinda give you idea of how much water to drink 12:44 for that individual. 12:45 We have two things here. 12:47 Number one is that if you are taking vitamin B... 12:52 Okay, if you are taking vitamins, supplements, 12:55 then you might notice that the water 12:56 is gonna become that yellow or gold color 12:58 and that's because the body is letting go of the excess 13:02 of the vitamin B and the C's 13:04 which is a water soluble vitamins. 13:06 Also so you wanna check that as well. 13:07 If you're drinking adequate amount of water, 13:08 you're still good, but if you have supplements, 13:11 some of those supplements will leach out into the urine 13:13 that will give you that color. 13:15 Number two, is that whole thing about the water issue. 13:17 How much am I suppose to drink or not drink? 13:19 You know, I always say, 13:20 I don't think there's a issue about the water. 13:22 I think people just don't wanna drink it. 13:24 Just don't wanna drink it, yeah. 13:25 They even go through the whole thing about, 13:27 you know, which is the best waters? 13:28 Oh, yeah, that one, 13:30 we now didn't wanna get into that. 13:31 Before we got into education reporting and stuff, 13:32 we were just drinking it. 13:34 You know, my think is, I just said, well, you just... 13:36 Matter of fact, I'm getting thirsty right now. 13:37 Yeah, just talking about, yeah, 13:39 while you're drinking that alkaline water 13:41 and I mean you pay 30% more for alkaline and there's no... 13:46 And lot of times there's pH sometimes it's 8 or 9 13:49 and sometimes pH is not, 13:51 as most it is on the container of alkaline water as well. 13:54 There's only one clinical study done 13:56 on the value of alkaline water, 13:58 if you have acid reflux, the alkaline. 14:01 Well, then that really water comes from the earth 14:04 or from sky and also that's what God made 14:08 for mankind to drink. 14:10 Yeah, that's an expensive venture 14:11 you started doing on alkaline water. 14:12 Yes, it is. 14:14 I think it's more than making more money 14:15 than you actually drinking. 14:17 How about our author? 14:18 Do we have any information from her 14:20 as relates to that as well? 14:22 Yes, we do. Well, probably... 14:24 Well, let's go to the screen 14:26 and I think I'm gonna read that from our book 14:28 because it's also in our book as well. 14:29 I wanna go to the screen. 14:31 So let's go to screen and read this, all right? 14:32 Here it is. 14:35 "Thousands have died for want of pure water, 14:39 who might have lived. 14:41 Those who ignore pure water to drink, can not, repeat, 14:47 can not, repeat, cannot be free from disease." 14:53 All right, Medical Ministry, it's page 226. 14:56 So those out there, water, liquids, 15:00 we gonna go into juice in little bit too, 15:01 but when a person does not drink 15:05 adequate amount of water, 15:08 it increases our risks of disease, 15:11 that's the bottom line, all right? 15:13 All right, so those disease conditions 15:15 that can help, 15:17 what kind of disease conditions can be helped by that? 15:20 There is a medical journal and that has a list of all, 15:23 lot of diseases all here in the book 15:25 here Nutrition Review. 15:27 They list 12 disease and conditions 15:31 that water can help to prevent, 12. 15:34 Now it's probably more than 12, but they list 12 here. 15:37 I'm just gonna give you just some of them. 15:39 It says, kidney stone formation, 15:42 constipation, 15:44 blood clots, remember now, 15:46 87% of strokes is due to blood clots. 15:49 Blood clots, strokes, respiratory disorders, 15:53 high blood pressure, urinary tract infections, 15:58 all of these things and even diabetes, blood sugar. 16:01 So all of these things can be reduced or eliminated 16:07 if water is adequately consumed in the person's body. 16:12 Well, I just remember also when we talk about 16:14 this whole thing about the water, 16:15 I know that when I went to Uchee Pines, 16:17 as I was going through my cancer experience, 16:19 one of things they did 16:20 was I had to do Hypothermia treatments. 16:23 Hydo...? 16:24 Hypothermia treatments. Yeah. 16:26 Okay, and that was getting in water, 16:29 at certain temperature the water had to be 16:31 and that was to build my immune system. 16:32 Right. 16:33 We're in the water, hot water, cold compressors on my head, 16:37 drinking cold water 16:38 then he would wrap me up in a towel 16:40 and I will be knocked off for about 20 16:42 for at least a couple of hours. 16:43 Yeah, you definitely knocked out. 16:45 Yes, so. 16:46 That whole water is inside, outside all over the place, 16:48 yeah. 16:49 I wanted to talk about the juice in 16:50 before we go and turn the page, 16:52 I think we have juice in here as well 16:53 because we're talking about liquids, folks. 16:56 And so water is one thing, 16:57 there's a lot more in a book we can talk about 16:59 but time is of essence here. 17:01 But the juicing and... 17:04 if you look at the Word of God, 17:06 I might want to turn to a verse in Isaiah 65:8. 17:10 Isaiah 65:8, it talks about wine juice in a Bible, 17:13 that's grape juice. 17:15 And so, matter of fact 17:17 that's the first miracle Jesus performed. 17:21 He didn't raise anybody from the dead, 17:23 He didn't heal the blind man or the paralytic, 17:27 the first miracle is juice, and grape juice, all right. 17:32 So juicing is good and just talk a little bit 17:36 before we go into the kitchen, 17:38 and lot of things that we go through these letters, 17:40 the HEALERS. 17:42 We wanna make it little bit more personal though 17:45 and so in your cancer experience, 17:49 we put it, our program was juicing. 17:50 Was juicing. 17:52 Was juicing, now just talk about that 17:53 for a little bit, honey? 17:55 We were just kinda excited about that too because now, 17:56 now instead of be in the foods 17:58 as it's going to the bloodstream 18:00 we are now doing the liquids and so, 18:01 we're taking the food 18:02 and we're putting it into machines 18:04 that could actually blend that food down 18:06 and make it into a juice 18:08 that we can drink, you know. 18:09 Speaking of that, I know you're wondering, 18:12 are we gonna be juicing today? 18:13 Yes, we are. Okay. 18:14 We're making an anti-inflammatory smoothie. 18:18 Now, I know, I saw your face. 18:19 No, no you just wait. 18:21 Get your paper and your pencil and come in to the kitchen 18:23 because you are going to enjoy this smoothie. |
