00:40 Hello, and welcome to Behold the Lamb presents.
00:42 I'm Chris Shelton your host,
00:43 and we're so grateful and thankful
00:46 that you have chosen to tune in and study with us today.
00:50 Today is the third message of 25 Bible studies
00:54 that we are doing in correlation
00:56 with this little booklet that has 25 Bible lessons.
00:59 It's entitled Sharing God's Love,
01:02 what the Bible has to say.
01:04 It was compiled by Brother Richard Bland.
01:07 And we are doing an hour message
01:09 on each and every one of these Bible studies
01:11 to go along with it.
01:13 So when you call and you order yours
01:15 after you watch today's program,
01:16 you'll get one of these Bible study guides
01:18 with it as well.
01:20 Today's message is entitled, "The Healing of Sorrow."
01:24 "The Healing of Sorrow."
01:27 There have been so many things as we look around in the world
01:31 from floods, and hurricanes, and earth quakes,
01:35 it's just been unbelievable.
01:38 You know, it reminded me
01:40 of what Jesus told the disciples
01:42 back in Matthew 24.
01:44 I want to read a little bit of that for you today.
01:46 Matthew 24, starting with verse 4.
01:50 It reads, "And Jesus answered and said unto them,
01:54 'Take heed that no one deceive you.'"
01:56 You see, brothers and sisters, Christ wants us to be aware,
01:59 there will be spiritual deception
02:02 in these last days.
02:03 Reading on in verse 5, it says,
02:05 "For many shall come in My name,
02:07 saying, 'I am the Christ,' and shall deceive many.
02:11 And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars.
02:14 And see that ye be not troubled,
02:17 for all these things must come to pass,
02:21 but the end is not yet.
02:23 For nation shall rise against nation,
02:25 and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines,
02:28 and pestilences, and earthquakes,
02:30 in diverse places.
02:32 All these are the beginning of sorrows.'"
02:37 The healing of sorrow,
02:39 you know, we live in families that are broken,
02:43 families that maybe they've gone through
02:45 some of this destruction.
02:47 There are places as I'm speaking now
02:49 that have been without power for months.
02:52 And their hearts are sorrowful, they're looking for an answer.
02:57 Does the Bible have an answer?
02:58 What does the Bible have to say about healing sorrow?
03:03 I hope you'll stay tuned, but first, we're so blessed.
03:06 We're gonna go to the 3ABN Worship Center
03:08 and we're gonna listen to a song that is entitled,
03:11 O how He loves you and me, as sung by Lyndon Carriger.
03:33 Oh, how He loves you and me
03:41 Oh, how He loves you
03:45 And me
03:49 He gave his life
03:53 What more could He give
03:58 Oh, how He loves you
04:03 Oh, how He loves me
04:07 Oh, how He loves you
04:11 And me
04:15 Jesus to Calvary did go
04:23 His love for mankind
04:27 Did show
04:32 What He did there
04:35 Brought hope from despair
04:41 Oh, how He loves you
04:45 Oh, how He loves me
04:49 Oh, how He loves you
04:53 And me
05:01 Oh, how He loves you
05:05 And me
05:10 Oh how He loves you
05:13 And me
05:18 He gave his life
05:22 What more could He give?
05:29 Oh, how He loves you
05:34 Oh, how He loves me
05:38 Oh, how He loves you
05:42 Oh, how He loves me
05:46 Oh, how He loves you
05:50 And me
06:15 Thank you for joining us once again
06:16 here at Behold the Lamb.
06:17 As you've already heard, our subject for today is
06:20 "The Healing of Sorrow."
06:22 Now this is very important subject
06:23 because the world that we live in today,
06:26 look what all is happening in the world.
06:28 Literally, hundreds and thousands,
06:30 tens of thousands are suffering right now.
06:33 And so we know God's Word has an answer.
06:35 So we're gonna get into that because every one of us,
06:38 sound of the voice, those who are viewing,
06:40 those who are listening
06:41 will go through some kind of sorrow,
06:43 I'm sure, in your lifetime.
06:45 God has some answer.
06:46 So before we get into it, let's have prayer together.
06:49 I'm gonna kneel here, those who are comfortable,
06:50 I would like to kneel.
06:52 Let's pray together, shall we?
06:56 Merciful Father in heaven,
06:58 again we thank you that we have Your Word
06:59 that we can turn to.
07:01 Today as we examine this subject
07:03 and maybe just on the edges of it,
07:05 we pray for Your Holy Spirit power.
07:07 I pray that You forgive me of any sin,
07:09 anything in my heart and life that needs not be there,
07:12 we need to hear from heaven.
07:13 May the Holy Spirit consume each and every one of us
07:16 as Your children, ears, eyes, hearts,
07:19 and all to be open that we may receive
07:21 what You have for us today.
07:23 Bless us, we pray may heaven approve,
07:25 and we'll thank You in advance.
07:26 In Jesus' name, amen.
07:30 Again we always encourage those of you at home
07:33 to have a pencil and paper, and jot down
07:35 as quickly as you can the passage of scriptures.
07:37 Sometime, we go rather quickly and because of our timeframe.
07:41 So jot those things down.
07:42 If you have questions,
07:44 please you gonna call the ministry here
07:45 and there'll be I'm sure by God's grace
07:47 will be calling in
07:48 and saying you like to have this study
07:50 because you're gonna share it with someone,
07:52 someone who's going through a very difficult time,
07:55 and certainly we'd live
07:56 in that point of earth's history
07:58 that a lot of difficulties will be arising.
08:00 But we don't want it to be somewhat like the young boy,
08:03 you know, who is going through some things at the house.
08:07 Sometime, we have it, our children...
08:08 We have children, and sometime, they get a little bit nosy,
08:12 and they began to look around in the house
08:13 and they find some things there and they began to ask momma.
08:16 This born boy did...
08:18 I will say he's prowling about the house
08:20 and he came and he picked up a dust covered Bible.
08:25 There was a Bible, had dust all on it
08:27 and he looked at that dust covered Bible.
08:30 He said, "Mother!"
08:31 She said, "Yes, son."
08:33 "Is this God's book?"
08:35 She said, "Well, yes, son.
08:36 This is God's book, of course it is."
08:39 She said, "My, my!
08:40 You know, I thought maybe you knew that."
08:41 Well, he said, "I did know that.
08:43 But I thought I would just ask
08:45 because it has all this dust on it."
08:47 And she said, "Yes, it's God's book, son."
08:49 And the boy said,
08:51 "Well, I think we might as well send it back to Him
08:53 'cause we don't use it."
08:55 It's an interesting thought.
08:58 God has given us His Word that we can go through.
09:02 Let's not let dust gather on it
09:05 'cause this is where our help is coming from.
09:07 This is what we need to do is get into the Word of God,
09:10 and we don't want to send it back,
09:11 He sent it to us, didn't He?
09:13 And as He sent it to us, praise God for it,
09:15 we can go and certainly then we can look
09:18 in the Word of God and find the answers to our,
09:21 if you're like I am, hundreds and sometime maybe
09:23 seems thousands of questions that we all have
09:27 about, you know,
09:28 something is going on in the world.
09:30 And today, I might, you know,
09:32 talk to you a little bit about it
09:33 as our subject is the healing of sorrow
09:35 is little bit about what do you think
09:37 the condition of the world is.
09:40 If I would ask you, "What's your attitude
09:43 towards what's going on in the world today?"
09:45 I'm sure many of us would give somewhat the same answer.
09:49 There's a lot of things that are going on in the world
09:51 that indicate the soon coming of Jesus, we understand that.
09:55 And so it tells us He's coming soon
09:57 in the clouds of glory because we're looking,
09:59 and I'm gonna tell you,
10:01 this is going on in this part of the world,
10:02 something else is going on in other part,
10:04 and in other part but the Bible tells us
10:06 all these things will be happening and taking place
10:08 before the coming of Jesus
10:10 and that indicates our subject which is, what?
10:12 Some sorrow is going to be in the land.
10:15 Every one of us here
10:17 or at least the sound of my voice
10:19 and who'll be viewing, somehow if you're old enough,
10:22 there's been some things
10:23 that has caused you some sorrow in life.
10:26 And it can go from a lot of different directions
10:28 and hopefully, by the grace of God,
10:29 we'll talk more about those.
10:31 But isn't it thrilling
10:33 to live in this hour of earth's history?
10:36 To me, it's thrilling to live here
10:37 because you know, we're living in...
10:39 Our eyes should be opened, our ears should be opened,
10:43 and we should be looking up, you know,
10:45 because these are signs that Jesus is coming,
10:47 our God is going to come.
10:49 We should be the happiest people on this planet.
10:53 We should be, listen,
10:54 the holiest people on this planet.
10:57 Think about that, happiest and holiest people.
11:01 And all this outlook in the world today,
11:03 we always say, "This is the outlook,
11:05 this is what's going on in the world."
11:06 But I'm encouraging you, as you look, you're gonna say,
11:09 "I'm looking out in the world, it looks dark."
11:11 But God is saying that we need to have the up-look
11:14 of what's going on because the up-look is bright.
11:19 Really our future is bright.
11:22 Even though we look and say,
11:23 "Oh, there's lot of things going on."
11:24 It's very bright.
11:26 If we know Jesus, and if we love Jesus
11:29 with all of our heart, and we're feeding on His Word,
11:33 every day we're spending time with God.
11:36 Jeremiah said it like this in Jeremiah 15:16,
11:40 notice as Bible says, Jeremiah said,
11:42 "Thy words were found."
11:44 You remember?
11:45 Jeremiah said, "Thy words were found,
11:47 and I did eat them.
11:49 Thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing in my heart."
11:53 So think about this as we study.
11:55 The sorrow, but Jeremiah found something,
11:57 and in his sorrow, he found that, he took them,
12:00 he ate the Word of God and what?
12:02 There was rejoicing in his heart.
12:05 A little girl asked her mother, worried mother,
12:10 asked her mother and said, "Mother, are you happy?"
12:13 You know, to have a little child,
12:15 usually you ask...
12:16 Mother asked the child, you know,
12:17 "Are you happy, honey, or son, daughter?
12:19 Are you happy?
12:20 Well, if you're not, why aren't you happy?"
12:21 The little girl looked up and said, "Mom, are you happy?"
12:23 You've heard the story many times,
12:25 at least the line of it, are you happy?
12:27 "Oh," she sighed, said, "Oh, yes, honey, I'm happy."
12:32 Well, you know, that didn't quite
12:34 went over the little girl.
12:35 And she said, "Well, mother,
12:37 you haven't told your face about it yet."
12:40 That makes sense, doesn't it?
12:41 If we're happy, it's going to, what?
12:43 If you're happy and you know it, right,
12:45 we clap our hands as a song says.
12:47 If you're happy and you know it,
12:48 there's something that comes across
12:50 in your voice, in your face.
12:52 The little girl could read mother.
12:54 We need to be ready for this hour
12:57 in which we live that Jesus is coming.
12:59 So as we're talking about it, this world,
13:01 I know that we live in a world that's full of sorrow.
13:04 I understand that.
13:06 Disappointment, anyone here went through disappointment?
13:08 Oh, you better believe it.
13:09 And you know, sadness, grieve, you name it, regret,
13:14 we have all these things that we're dealing with
13:17 and trying to deal.
13:18 And I found that some people
13:20 can deal much better than other people.
13:22 Some people go way off this side to the left,
13:24 and some go to the right.
13:25 Some stay pretty well-centered,
13:27 and how do those folks who stay centered,
13:29 how do they stay centered
13:31 when they have a lot of regrets,
13:32 when they're sorry for lot of things
13:34 that's happened in their heart and in their life?
13:36 Sorrow is something that the dictionary talks about.
13:39 It says, "It's a mental suffering."
13:43 Sorrow causes mental suffering
13:46 and it's usually caused by loss, loss of something.
13:51 It could be money to people,
13:53 and it could be the death of loved ones,
13:55 it could be a lot of things but it has to do with the mind
14:00 and how the mind accepts and approaches this issue.
14:04 Think about it with me.
14:05 A time of sorrow, notice this,
14:07 that we have that affects our emotions, it affects us.
14:12 Something hits us in life, a disaster or sorrow,
14:16 and then somehow it can change our lives, our direction
14:19 if we're not careful or we can stay steadfast
14:22 as it were in the Word of God.
14:24 Many people, you realize this,
14:26 many people die from experiencing
14:29 or going through sorrow.
14:31 You know some people, don't you?
14:33 They have died
14:34 because they've went through sorrow.
14:36 You see it sometime in people's lives
14:39 who have lost loved ones.
14:41 The husband might die and a month later,
14:44 the wife dies, you know,
14:46 and that's not always necessarily
14:47 the way it goes for everybody because again,
14:50 some have the way of adjusting,
14:52 they found help in the Word of God,
14:55 they found encouragement somewhere else, you see.
14:58 But we realize here that this sorrow here,
15:01 it's going to affect
15:02 all of our lives somehow, someway.
15:05 And some people,
15:07 when they're affected with sorrow,
15:08 they shut themselves in.
15:10 They basically go into a room, and they shut the door,
15:13 and they don't want to come out,
15:14 they don't want to be involved in anything that's going on.
15:18 They don't want to eat sometime,
15:22 they don't want to drink, you know.
15:24 They just give up on life,
15:26 they say it's not worth living anymore
15:29 because they're suffering inside
15:31 and it's affecting them emotionally.
15:34 As I mentioned to begin with,
15:35 all of us is going to be subject to that in some form
15:39 or fashion as we live in this world.
15:42 We're not gonna go through this world
15:44 without some level of this thing called sorrow.
15:48 Tragedy strikes, and sometime it strikes multiple times
15:52 in the same family at a very, maybe, quick time.
15:55 But my question would go today is, what do we,
15:59 as God's children, do when tragedy strikes.
16:03 Again, everyone handles it differently
16:05 but God's Word does have something to say on it.
16:08 And if we focus on God's Word, maybe we would handle it,
16:11 maybe somewhat little closer, you know, every one of us alike
16:15 rather than so many different ways.
16:17 Here's one way I found in the Word of God.
16:20 Now in Matthew Chapter 14, you know,
16:22 we'll look at something very interesting.
16:24 Here's the story about the execution of John.
16:28 Do you think anybody loved John the Baptist?
16:30 Well, sure.
16:32 Yes, they loved him, family members.
16:34 So this is what it's talking about
16:36 story about the execution of John the Baptist
16:38 by King Herod.
16:40 Now how did John's disciples and how did John's friends
16:45 and family react at the death of this leader?
16:49 See, this helps us to go to the Word of God,
16:51 and say when someone goes through disaster,
16:53 how did they react, what did they do,
16:56 what was the results
16:57 that they go out and do something erratic,
16:59 you know, or did they hang in there?
17:01 Well, you know, this is very interesting,
17:03 Matthew 14:12
17:05 just simply says this right here.
17:07 "And his disciples came,"
17:09 notice, "and they took up the body, and they buried it,"
17:14 notice, "and they went and told Jesus."
17:18 Now I can't help but like that last part of it.
17:20 What happened? Well, you had the death.
17:23 They couldn't change that part of it.
17:25 And so they dealt with that issue,
17:27 so they went and did what?
17:28 They went to get the body, the next thing you do.
17:31 Then they buried his body naturally,
17:33 and then they went and they told Jesus.
17:36 So I find something
17:38 that we can look at as Christians,
17:40 people and men and women of God,
17:43 is when disaster strikes,
17:44 we need to go tell Jesus about it.
17:47 You see, because there's something
17:48 about talking to Jesus about it
17:50 that has some kind of a healing in it.
17:53 Think there's something healing.
17:55 Now some people will say this, "That's just too simple.
17:58 It doesn't work that way.
18:01 Just as me, simply just go,
18:02 tell Jesus when I go through
18:03 a lot of heartache and problems?
18:05 I just tell, "That's what I'm saying
18:06 based upon the Word of God, just tell Jesus."
18:09 Why just tell Jesus,
18:11 because He understands all the circumstances.
18:15 You can talk to someone who understands exactly
18:18 who has already been through
18:19 all of these things and much more,
18:22 and He'll tell you how He went through it,
18:24 how He gained the victory,
18:25 and how He's going to help you gain the victory
18:27 if you stay with Him.
18:29 So that's why you want to tell Jesus.
18:31 See, we can't understand, at least I can't.
18:35 I can't understand sometime why some people...
18:38 And I've heard this,
18:39 the couple of words used many times.
18:41 Why some people are cut down? Did you get?
18:44 They say, "Why so and so is cut down
18:46 in the prime of their life?"
18:47 Have you ever heard that? "Why are they cut down?
18:49 Why is it that a father, or a mother, or maybe a child,
18:54 you know, why did they die at an early age
18:56 or why were they taken like this?
18:57 I just don't understand it."
19:00 But you know, Jesus understands it.
19:03 This is why we must tell Jesus. Why?
19:06 Because the Bible says
19:07 that Jesus is the Lord of life and death.
19:11 So He understands our sorrow,
19:13 He understands when the heart is about to break.
19:16 He understands the fullness inside,
19:18 because my Lord and my Savior did not die
19:21 to what men did to Him, He died of a broken heart.
19:25 So tell me, He doesn't understand
19:27 when your heart is just aching
19:28 and you don't really care about maybe living another moment.
19:32 Jesus understood, His heart burst.
19:35 Oh, how sad that is but how encouraging it is
19:38 on the other hand to say my Lord knows.
19:41 So I'm going to tell Jesus about it.
19:43 He sympathizes with us.
19:45 See, because I found this other people can offer you
19:48 when you're going through a mess,
19:50 they can offer you love and sympathy and that's nice.
19:54 It's so nice to have someone say
19:55 they care, they love you, they pat you on the back,
19:57 they give you a hug, they're there for you,
19:59 "What can I do for you?"
20:01 Oh, how wonderful that is.
20:02 But, when the dust settles,
20:06 see, when night comes and there's no one around,
20:12 every one's gone but not Jesus.
20:16 Jesus is always there.
20:18 It's Jesus, remember, it's Jesus that we turn to
20:23 for He's always there, the Bible says in John 14:8.
20:27 You remember what He says?
20:29 He said, "I will not leave you comfortless."
20:31 Remember? I will what?
20:33 "I will not leave you," John 14:8,
20:35 "I will not leave you comfortless."
20:37 'Cause He knows
20:39 when you're going through difficult times,
20:40 you need comfort.
20:41 You need somebody there all the time.
20:44 Yes, amen.
20:45 Now as many of you have lost your companions and so on
20:47 and your children are grown so and so forth.
20:49 You live in a home by yourself, you can be pretty lonely,
20:51 there's no doubt about it.
20:53 It can be pretty lonely.
20:55 So there's something
20:56 that needs to take that loneliness up
20:57 and away from you,
20:59 and the house can be filled with the angels of God.
21:01 It can be filled right with the glory
21:03 and the help of Jesus if we invite Him certainly in
21:06 because the Bible says in Hebrews 13:5.
21:08 Remember?
21:10 This is so familiar,
21:11 "I will not leave you..." Or what?
21:13 "I will not leave you..." Or what?
21:16 "I'll never leave you, I'll never forsake you."
21:20 Now that's very difficult when you're looking through
21:23 eyes that are filled with tears.
21:25 It's very difficult, it takes faith to believe that
21:28 because you think, "Why is life worth living?
21:31 Why should I go on?
21:33 I've done everything."
21:34 At least in your opinion, right,
21:36 we've done everything we know to do for it to be right.
21:38 And yet these things befall us.
21:41 The Bible said, you remember, folks?
21:42 It rains on the, what?
21:44 The just and the unjust alike.
21:46 We live here, and certainly as we live,
21:49 if Jesus doesn't come, we're going to die.
21:52 We're going to die.
21:53 And we're gonna see a lot of death of loved ones.
21:56 You think, "But we need help.
21:58 We need something outside of our self,
22:00 we need something outside of others
22:02 who want to encourage us and strengthen us."
22:04 And that's why we go to the Word of God.
22:06 You know, it reminds me of a song
22:08 that I basically grew up on.
22:09 It's very familiar.
22:11 I think it's 320 in the hymnal,
22:12 "What a friend we have in Jesus."
22:14 You noticed that, what a friend we have in Jesus.
22:17 When there's no other friend left,
22:19 when there's no one else that you can really talk to
22:20 because they just don't understand maybe.
22:24 You have Jesus you can talk to,
22:26 because you can't say or do anything
22:28 He doesn't understand.
22:30 And so you can go to Him in full confidence.
22:32 One of the verses on that song that I love, it simply says,
22:36 you know, "Have we trials and temptation?
22:39 Is there trouble anywhere?
22:43 We should never be discouraged. Why?
22:46 Take it to the Lord in prayer."
22:49 That's so encouraging.
22:52 We're gonna have tests and trials
22:53 and it gets discouraging, but he said,
22:55 take it to the Lord in prayer.
22:56 Here is the answer. There's power in Him.
22:59 There's power, absolutely.
23:01 There's a story of lady that...
23:05 And when I read this story,
23:06 I chuckled to myself in this since
23:10 because I thought about my precious friend Marlin Hall,
23:14 and you'll see as I tell this little story.
23:17 There's a story of a lady and this is one
23:18 who loved to play the piano.
23:21 She loved that,
23:23 that's all she did all of her life,
23:24 she played the piano.
23:26 It was her life.
23:27 She played it every day.
23:30 Of course, she lived close to neighbors,
23:32 and every day, she'd get on that piano
23:33 and begin to play,
23:35 and the neighbors heard every day
23:36 her playing that piano.
23:38 They called it, the neighbors said,
23:40 "Oh, I see it's time for our daily concert."
23:44 Now some things will fit and some things won't,
23:46 Marlin, don't...
23:47 "This is time for our daily concert."
23:49 Oh boy!
23:50 But the daily concert at that time
23:53 consisted of a lot of different songs
23:55 because she didn't have to play the same one,
23:58 she just knew so many.
23:59 So there are sort of similarities here.
24:02 She could just play and play and play,
24:04 she seemed to know them all.
24:07 But one day, tragedy struck in her home,
24:12 sorrow filled the home.
24:16 But her answer to this great loss,
24:19 she had an answer,
24:20 and the answer to that great loss
24:23 was that she would, every day,
24:25 she would begin her concert with the same song.
24:29 She'd never done that before,
24:30 it was always something different.
24:32 But she began her concert for the neighbors as it were
24:36 who heard every day the same song.
24:40 The words made such a deep impression upon the neighbors.
24:45 They were overwhelmed with it.
24:46 She's changed, something has happened
24:49 and she's playing the same song.
24:51 And the neighbors said, "And we recognize that song."
24:56 And the song, the title was, I must tell Jesus.
25:00 How wonderful!
25:02 Some of you know the song, I wish I knew all the words
25:05 because I heard it sung several times
25:06 and it just brings tears to your eyes
25:09 when you think about the song.
25:10 Every day, because of tragedy struck,
25:13 she said, "I must tell Jesus."
25:15 Think about it.
25:17 Why?
25:18 Because I cannot bear my burden alone.
25:21 I'm not sure this is the words exactly same,
25:23 I hadn't looked them up in years
25:24 but I cannot bear my burden alone.
25:28 I must tell Jesus
25:30 because He can help me and Jesus alone.
25:35 See, to start out the day that way,
25:37 I must tell Jesus, how encouragement,
25:42 how it was the hump that got her past
25:45 the day's activities, you see, that was going to bog her down
25:49 'cause there's healing in the name of Jesus,
25:51 we know that.
25:53 This is what we're talking, the healing,
25:54 there's healing in the name of Jesus.
25:56 Proverbs 3:5 and 6, the Bible says this,
26:00 notice, "Trust in the Lord with,"
26:02 how much of your heart?
26:03 All thine heart.
26:05 "All thine heart," and notice this,
26:06 "and lean not to thine own understanding."
26:10 Here is a key in the healing part of sorrow.
26:15 Trust in the Lord with all of your heart,
26:17 meaning heart and mind and even how you feel inside,
26:20 all your mind, body, soul.
26:22 But now, you're gonna get in trouble
26:24 if you lean to your own understanding.
26:27 Don't lean, the Bible said, on your own understanding.
26:29 And verse 6 says, "In all ways, in all things,"
26:33 notice this, "acknowledge Him and He will direct thy paths."
26:38 See, these are promises that are powerful
26:42 to those who are in sorrow, those who are hurting,
26:44 those who have lost their home, those who are suffering,
26:47 lost everything that they have.
26:48 And we're living in these days and months and weeks
26:51 after great disasters have happened
26:53 around the country.
26:55 People need to know, he says, in all ways acknowledge Him.
26:58 Here's the key, acknowledge Him and acknowledging Him,
27:02 He is going to direct your paths,
27:04 He's going to direct your steps.
27:06 And don't go the way you feel,
27:07 in the way you think that it needs to be.
27:09 But, notice, the Bible says there
27:11 that we need to trust in the Lord
27:13 with all of your heart.
27:16 The Bible picks up there in the Book of James 1:5
27:21 because some of us will say,
27:22 "Well, I just don't have the wisdom.
27:23 I don't know what to do."
27:25 You know, James 1:5 says,
27:26 "If you any of you lack..." What?
27:27 "If any of you lack wisdom..."
27:29 What have we to do?
27:31 First, he has to...
27:33 He's got to ask.
27:34 First of all, we have to ask.
27:36 People forget that we have to ask.
27:37 They say, "Well, God knows what's going on.
27:39 He want you to come to Him and ask Him
27:43 because that says, what?
27:44 There is a need. Ask Him.
27:46 And then he says,
27:47 ask God and He's going to giveth
27:49 all men liberally, of course, upbraideth and so on.
27:52 If we need that wisdom,
27:54 if we don't want to walk
27:55 in the sparks of our own kindling,
27:57 you see, we want to lean to Him and grab a hold of His arm,
28:01 that's what we need to do rather than say,
28:03 "Well, this is how I feel at a certain time."
28:05 When you're going through grief, and sorrow,
28:07 and disappointment,
28:09 we also realize that's not a real good time
28:12 to make any big major decision.
28:14 So we need to lean
28:16 to the understanding of God not our own
28:18 because we will make wrong choices,
28:20 and in months to follow, we'll find out that,
28:22 "Oh, I wish I hadn't have made that decision then,"
28:25 the Bible is clear.
28:26 Here we see again.
28:28 If you seek divine help from the passages
28:30 that we just read if it help that what is God gonna to do?
28:33 He said, "I'm going to guide you."
28:35 This is a powerful promise.
28:38 You seek, He's going to guide in our time of trouble,
28:42 in our time of perplexity, in our time of sorrow,
28:45 God says, "I'm going to lead you."
28:47 These verses is a promise and His answer is sure.
28:52 Remember, if you ask, the answer is sure,
28:54 He's going to respond.
28:56 And we pray that's...
28:57 Certainly, we say in our favorite way
28:59 we'd like to have it done.
29:00 But many times, that's the wrong way.
29:02 Not our will but what?
29:04 Thine will.
29:05 Yeah, Thine will be done.
29:07 Remember that, God gives an answer.
29:09 His Word cannot and will not fail.
29:13 This is what we're going to have to hang on to
29:15 before it's over.
29:16 The end of the world, this is it.
29:18 All we will have is His Word,
29:20 everything else seems to be in opposition.
29:22 Everybody else is telling you
29:23 this is not the right way to go,
29:26 but if you don't have the Word hid in your heart,
29:28 you're going to be making
29:29 wrong choices and wrong decisions.
29:31 So again, we cannot lean to,
29:33 in Proverbs 3:5, to our own, what?
29:35 Into our own understanding.
29:37 It's dangerous.
29:39 The Bible in the Book of Psalms 118:8.
29:42 Notice these words that will bring comfort.
29:44 Psalms 118:8 tells us,
29:47 "It is better to trust in the Lord
29:49 than to put confidence in man."
29:52 Same thing here, did you get it?
29:53 It's better to do what?
29:55 To trust in the Lord than put our confidence in man.
29:59 See, the world kind of sets you up
30:01 where you're to lean on something
30:03 or somebody over here rather than to lean upon God.
30:06 He's our only choice,
30:08 He's our only answer to these dilemmas that we have.
30:10 Don't put our confidence in man,
30:12 man's gonna fail you, man's gonna disappoint you.
30:16 God has a purpose for all that we go through.
30:19 I'm convinced of that, I'm learning that as I go,
30:22 God has a purpose.
30:24 No matter what comes our direction,
30:26 if we are child of God,
30:28 there's something there that God has,
30:30 a lesson He wants us to learn
30:32 or it's something that will draw us, what?
30:34 Closer to Him.
30:37 Five Testimonies 216
30:39 if you're jotting a few things down.
30:40 Notice this sweet little paragraph with me.
30:43 Five Testimonies 216 says,
30:45 "It is ever God's purpose
30:48 to bring light out of darkness."
30:51 What's God's purpose?
30:53 "It's to bring light out of darkness.
30:56 Joy out of sorrow and rest out of weariness for the waiting,
31:01 longing soul."
31:03 So think about that with me.
31:05 God's purpose then is to have...
31:07 He wants us to have, what?
31:08 Joy, peace, right?
31:10 And happiness even in this world.
31:12 This is what He wants for us, He's purposed that for us,
31:16 He's went through everything,
31:17 and He went through so that we might have that joy.
31:20 In the Bible in John 14:1 and 27,
31:25 now you can read a lot of those verses in there
31:27 and there will be good verses
31:28 but these will help us to gain courage.
31:31 John 14, gonna read verses 1 and then verse 27.
31:35 You know in John 14:1, how does it start out?
31:38 "Let not your heart be," good, "be troubled ye believe in God,
31:44 believe also in me."
31:46 So you know how it goes from there as you read on down.
31:49 But it starts out with,
31:50 "Don't let your heart be troubled."
31:52 Don't worry about what's going on in the world.
31:54 Don't worry about what the news is telling you.
31:57 Don't worry about what they're threatening to do
31:58 in this country, or that country.
32:00 Don't worry about the economy of what's going to happen
32:02 because we know what's going to happen to it.
32:05 We need to be worried about in working for souls,
32:08 right, in the kingdom of God,
32:09 and those who are going through disaster.
32:11 Remember, one way that it can be a healing aspect
32:14 is when you live and you work for others.
32:16 This is what it's about.
32:18 If it's a healing inside as you're working for others,
32:20 at the same time,
32:21 God is healing you on the inside.
32:23 Notice, "Let not your heart be troubled," verse 27,
32:26 it starts out with peace.
32:29 How many times really in the Word of God
32:31 did you see that He said, "I want you to have peace."
32:34 He said, "Brother Mark, I want you to be happy.
32:37 I want you to have peace in the world.
32:38 Peace I leave with you."
32:40 Notice, He says, "My peace I give you."
32:43 If anyone ever had a peace, it was Jesus.
32:46 Isn't that right?
32:47 He had a peace, He could sleep, right,
32:50 in the midst of a storm on a boat
32:51 when everybody else was screaming and crying out
32:54 and thought they're all gonna die,
32:56 they had to wake Him up.
32:59 He could go out into the mountains
33:00 where there were animals and things
33:02 that can tear you up at night time,
33:04 and just prayed to His heavenly Father.
33:06 And He could pray all night long,
33:08 He was never afraid.
33:09 There was a perfect peace because He knew His father.
33:12 He said, "I want to give you my peace."
33:14 Not like the world gives.
33:17 The world said, "Peace, peace, peace."
33:19 You know, in the world that we live in,
33:21 it's every country and nation wanting to sign a peace treaty,
33:24 you know.
33:26 And then they put all kind of conditions down
33:27 in order to have this peace treaty,
33:29 we're gonna have...
33:30 Never works.
33:31 But Jesus said, it's not like that,
33:33 because when you have Him down,
33:35 each nation begins to look for ways they can break them.
33:38 Jesus said, "I want to give you My peace that I had,
33:40 peace in the storm, peace at the cross,"
33:43 you see, "peace to go through and continue on
33:46 when He is going through difficult time."
33:48 And remember,
33:49 Jesus went through difficult time.
33:50 What a lonely time that He had,
33:53 that He knew that all of heaven was with Him.
33:55 "Not as the world giveth I unto you,
33:57 let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
34:01 It's kind of almost easy,
34:03 I think, to be afraid in this world that we live in.
34:05 You now, we're afraid at night,
34:07 we lock the doors and we set the burglar alarms.
34:10 You know, we set the alarms
34:11 and we're hoping that they stay on,
34:13 and we got the God outside barking,
34:15 and then we got one on inside barking,
34:17 and then the kitties are meowing and carrying on,
34:20 all kind of things going on just in hope that maybe,
34:23 you know, if somebody is watching
34:25 rather than pray for the angels of heaven
34:26 certainly to watch over.
34:28 Didn't say any of those are wrong,
34:29 but we need to pray for those angels, praise God.
34:32 You know, we talk about the love
34:35 that the Lord has for us.
34:37 Think about it with me for just a few moments.
34:39 The love that the Lord has for us passes all knowledge.
34:44 Did you get that, church?
34:45 It passes all knowledge.
34:48 You can't figure it out, you might think you can.
34:51 It passes all knowledge.
34:53 You can't define the love of God.
34:56 Try to define it,
34:58 make it complete and say I finished it all up,
35:00 you can't, can't even scratch the surface of it.
35:04 But think about it as well.
35:05 I know about the love.
35:07 Try to explain it.
35:09 Spend two or three hours, or four, five days
35:11 or week or month,
35:12 trying to explain the love of God,
35:14 you just can't do it.
35:16 No human being
35:18 can fully understand the love of God.
35:21 That's how wonderful it is, that's how helpful it is for us
35:25 who's going through difficult times.
35:27 And if you are, remember, that kind of love that He has.
35:31 In Romans 11:33, the Bible says,
35:35 "His ways are..."
35:36 What?
35:38 "His ways are..."
35:39 What?
35:41 "His ways are past finding out!"
35:42 It's too much for us
35:44 but we can have faith to believe
35:45 that it is what He says it is.
35:47 He says, "I love you with an everlasting love."
35:50 Here's a beautiful promise too for those who are searching
35:53 and needing something in your life in Proverbs 16:17.
35:57 Proverbs 16:17, the Bible says, "He that keepeth his way..."
36:02 Talking about God's way, "He that does..."
36:04 What?
36:06 "He that keepeth God's way, His way preserveth his soul."
36:10 Oh, what a wonderful promise that is.
36:12 If we're keeping the way of the Lord,
36:15 it's going to preserve your soul.
36:17 You want your soul preserved?
36:19 Absolutely, talking about, that's right for heaven?
36:21 Absolutely.
36:22 One way to do it is what the Bible says here,
36:25 we need to keep His way.
36:26 We need to keep His ways, His doings, His commandments,
36:30 and then all these other things are going to work out.
36:34 The Bible said,
36:35 "Let not your heart be troubled."
36:38 Let not it.
36:40 You say, "But it's trouble now.
36:41 I can't seem to get rid of this trouble."
36:43 But go back and let the Word talk to you again.
36:46 Let it speak to you again where Jesus said,
36:48 "Don't let it be troubled
36:50 because I have an answer for you.
36:51 I have a way out for you.
36:53 You need to walk in My ways."
36:55 See, a lot of people want to know
36:57 and want things to work out for them.
36:58 But they don't want to do it God's way.
37:00 They want to do it their own way.
37:02 They think their way is better than God,
37:04 that they're smarter than God, they have something different,
37:07 but His ways are always the best.
37:10 Isaiah 44:2 and 3.
37:14 Notice these precious words.
37:17 I like it when a Bible passage starts out,
37:19 "Thus saith the Lord".
37:21 "Thus saith the Lord."
37:23 I don't know if that does anything for anybody but me,
37:26 "Thus saith the Lord."
37:28 Whoo!
37:29 "Thus saith the Lord."
37:30 See, I'm getting excited now.
37:32 Thus saith the Lord!
37:33 Then I know that the Lord is speaking to me.
37:36 Thus saith the Lord, it's not does saith
37:37 this guy and that guy.
37:39 "Thus saith the Lord," notice this, "that made thee."
37:42 He's getting now starting to getting personal with us
37:44 who's going through difficult times.
37:46 And, you know, growing up can be difficult.
37:49 When you're young and growing up,
37:51 they say, trying to find yourself.
37:52 It can be very difficult and very challenging
37:55 even in school and around people your own age,
37:57 so on and so forth.
37:59 But notice what the Bible says, Lord goes back and says,
38:01 "Thus saith the Lord that made thee and formed thee
38:05 from the womb, I will help thee."
38:08 What a promise!
38:10 What a promise that is. Did you see it?
38:12 See, we can claim that promise.
38:15 The Lord is saying to you, "I say this to you.
38:18 I'm the one that made you.
38:20 I'm the one that formed you," notice, "in the womb."
38:23 And now, "I'm the one that's going to help you.
38:26 Isn't that wonderful to know?
38:28 He knows all about us, isn't that right?
38:30 He knows exactly what we need.
38:31 Verse 3 says, "For I will pour water up on him
38:34 that is thirsty."
38:36 See, we don't know the needs
38:38 of each and every one, every day.
38:39 You might meet and talk to somebody,
38:41 they fool you a little bit, and you think,
38:43 you know, everything's under control.
38:45 But God knows.
38:47 He knows that you're thirsty.
38:49 He knows that you need something special.
38:51 And He said, "I'm going to pour that out on you
38:53 because you need it,
38:55 because you're drying up, you're dying away,
38:58 you may be grieving yourself away.
38:59 But He said, "I can water you down.
39:01 I can give you what you need,
39:02 so that you can gain new roots again,
39:04 so you can grow again,
39:05 so you can be strong for Him again,
39:07 you can be in His service again,
39:09 that you can be useful in His cause."
39:11 What a God that we serve.
39:13 He said, "I'll pour that water on you if you're thirsty."
39:15 He said, "I'll pour water upon, what?
39:17 Floods upon dry ground."
39:20 He knows what needs, the rain, doesn't He?
39:23 He knows we need the rain of the Holy Spirit.
39:25 He also knows the ground that needs rain.
39:27 He knows when there's droughts.
39:28 He knows when millions of people are starving.
39:30 He knows what's going on in the world.
39:33 Notice here, "I will pour My Spirit upon thy seed, "
39:36 notice this, "and my blessing upon thine offspring."
39:40 Mothers, listen to that.
39:42 Brothers and sisters, listen to what it says here.
39:44 God says, "I'll pour My Spirit upon..."
39:46 What?
39:47 "Your seed.
39:49 I put my blessings upon thine offspring."
39:53 Your offspring, your children can be blessed
39:56 because you're praying for them.
39:58 We're talking about intercessory prayer,
39:59 Brother Mark.
40:00 We're talking about praying here.
40:02 What a blessing that is that they can receive blessing.
40:05 Even though they might say, "I don't want those blessings.
40:08 I don't want to be involved in church.
40:10 I don't want to go to church.
40:11 I don't want to be like mom and dad.
40:13 I don't want to do what the grandma and grandpa
40:14 are doing right here."
40:16 But we, earnestly as parents, pray for those children,
40:18 and God said, "I didn't see conditions on here."
40:21 Did you see conditions?
40:23 He just said He's going to do it.
40:25 Notice this, "I'm going to pour it out."
40:27 Certainly, mom and dad is asking grandma and grandpa
40:29 whatever it might be is asking for that blessing
40:30 and God hears it.
40:32 They may be saying, "I don't want it."
40:33 They don't know what they're talking about.
40:35 But God said, "I'm going to bless them
40:36 because of the praying saints."
40:38 Boy, we need to be praying for that
40:40 and really hanging on to it.
40:42 Now, the book I love is called Steps to Christ.
40:45 I know many of you've read that book.
40:47 And I tell you, if there's book that touches your heart
40:49 that it'll touch it over and over.
40:51 I don't care how many times you've read it,
40:53 Steps to Christ, people think it's too simple.
40:55 And they want to get into something kind of meat.
40:57 But I encourage some of you to get off of the meat.
40:59 Get back into the word, find Jesus first,
41:01 get that relationship with Him,
41:03 and then you'll grow some teeth,
41:05 and you can chew the meat, okay.
41:06 Now you got what I'm talking about.
41:08 Steps to Christ, 95.
41:10 Steps to Christ says this,
41:12 "There are certain conditions upon which we may expect
41:15 that God will hear and answer our prayers."
41:18 Notice that.
41:20 Many people just throw them out,
41:21 don't realize there are conditions.
41:23 Did we get that?
41:25 There are conditions to God answering prayer.
41:26 Notice, certain conditions to hear and answer our prayer.
41:31 Now, notice, one of the first...
41:33 See, sometime we have...
41:35 The Bible lists a few conditions here,
41:36 we jump around, pick the one we want.
41:38 This one here says, notice,
41:40 "One of the first of these is that we need to feel
41:44 our need of help from Him."
41:46 The very first thing is, "I need help,
41:51 I can't get help in the community.
41:53 I can't get help in the world."
41:55 People want to help,
41:57 but they can't do what needs to be done.
41:59 Feel a need of the Savior, and go to Him and say,
42:01 "Oh, God, I need help."
42:04 Surely some of you have done that.
42:06 I sure have, over and over, "Lord, I need some help.
42:10 There's nothing which I can do about it.
42:13 And if I do make my own decision,
42:15 I may make the wrong one.
42:16 I need You to make that decision for me."
42:18 I need some help.
42:20 Now notice this, from Him,
42:22 "The heart must be open to the Spirit's influence
42:26 and God's blessing,
42:28 or God's blessing cannot be received."
42:30 Our hearts then have to be open.
42:34 If you're going through things and you need some help,
42:36 remember this, we have to say, "Oh, Lord, I need some help.
42:41 I need some help."
42:42 You know how interestingly it end.
42:44 In the world that we live in, most people,
42:47 where we're geared almost anymore.
42:49 Now most people, that's all they do is ask.
42:51 They want something, need help.
42:53 They're always going to ask for help.
42:54 I didn't say anything's wrong with that.
42:56 But did you get it?
42:57 In the world, we need something, we go ask.
43:00 But sometime when we got things over our heads as it were,
43:04 that we need power from on high,
43:06 we forget that we must go ask.
43:09 And then our hearts must be open.
43:11 Do you notice that
43:13 for the influence of God's blessings
43:15 to come our way?
43:16 And then we're going to receive.
43:18 It's always beautiful
43:20 when God lays down the blueprint for it,
43:21 then He says, "You will receive."
43:24 In time,
43:25 you're going to receive, in His time.
43:28 You know, today,
43:29 you just might be going through some real difficult times
43:32 and sorrowful situations, and you know.
43:36 If so, you're saying, "Can God really help me?
43:39 Can He really help me?
43:41 Can He really heal me?
43:43 Can He help me to face tomorrow?"
43:46 There may be some, even here,
43:47 and maybe you've been through it in your life
43:49 in a very difficult time that you said, "You know what?
43:51 I just don't know if I want to face tomorrow or not.
43:54 I don't know if it's worth it anymore.
43:57 I don't know what more can be done."
44:01 And that's a low situation to be in.
44:05 When you get thinking like that,
44:07 we begin to tread on the enemy's ground.
44:09 And look out! Look out.
44:11 We do that...
44:13 Let me give you
44:14 a couple statistics here quickly.
44:16 The World Health Organization tells us that
44:19 1000 people a day commit suicide.
44:24 Did you get it?
44:25 One thousand people a day commit suicide.
44:29 Now think about how much sorrow that is
44:32 in the world of how many friends they have,
44:35 family members and so on,
44:37 so how that just grow
44:38 to thousands of tens of thousands.
44:42 But just one, we're talking about
44:44 1000 a day commit suicide,
44:47 about a half a million, 500,000 a year commit suicide.
44:53 Listen,
44:54 10 times that number attempt suicide,
45:02 but they don't get there.
45:03 Did you get that?
45:04 Ten times that amount attempt suicide.
45:10 Hungary, country of Hungary has the highest rate
45:16 for 100,000 about 40 percent.
45:20 That's a high rate of suicide.
45:23 Chile, the country Chile
45:25 has the lowest of about 3 percent per 100,000.
45:30 United States is right in there,
45:32 knocking to the door to be up on top.
45:35 The country that's supposed to have
45:36 a little bit of everything for everybody,
45:39 and they just can't find happiness,
45:41 they can't find peace.
45:43 They're in turmoil, thousands and thousands a day.
45:48 And, you know, the factors that are involved.
45:52 Most generally, we look factors
45:54 that are associated with suicide
45:57 and we're talking that comes with sorrow
45:59 is bereavement or sorrow.
46:02 They're unhappy.
46:04 Many times, they're social isolated,
46:07 they don't have a social life,
46:09 and they don't know really what to do.
46:11 Somebody has a chronic illness, a chronic illness,
46:16 they'd rather take their life than to wait to live
46:19 and see what God has in mind.
46:22 Alcoholism and drugs,
46:25 these are some of the highest points
46:26 in which people commit suicide, cause all kinds of grief.
46:30 I remember my uncle that committed suicide.
46:35 And he was...
46:37 because he went and he had cancer
46:39 all inside stomach and so on and so forth.
46:42 Went in for surgery, had surgery
46:43 and show us the end results,
46:45 they said, "We couldn't get it all."
46:47 And he said right then and there,
46:49 "I'm not going to go through this again.
46:51 It was too rough."
46:53 Here's a man that went in Korea
46:54 for about four years in the war,
46:56 you know, seen all kinds of devastation
46:58 and all kind of a man's man.
47:00 But what he went through, something changed in him.
47:02 And he said, "I'm not going through it again."
47:05 So he went home.
47:07 He went home and he looked at the house,
47:09 you know, the kids were raised, and they were out naturally,
47:12 his wife was there.
47:14 And he found out
47:15 that the hot water tank was getting old.
47:17 And so he bought a new hot water tank,
47:19 he replaced it.
47:20 Washer and dryer were old, he replaced it, bought new.
47:23 Changed the furnace and made sure it was nice.
47:26 Everything in that house
47:28 that needed any kind of attention,
47:29 he fixed it up
47:30 because he didn't want his wife to have to mess with that.
47:33 But then he took his little pistol,
47:34 he walked out behind his house in the woods
47:36 and committed suicide.
47:39 Very interesting, sorrow.
47:44 Not thinking about maybe the family
47:46 and the ones who would be left behind
47:47 in the bereavement and sorrow.
47:50 You know, in order for their real healing to begin,
47:54 whether it's healing of the soul
47:55 or healing of the body,
47:57 it takes more than just reading the Word of God.
48:00 Did you get it?
48:01 It takes more than just reading it.
48:03 So somebody say,
48:04 "Well, I'm just going to read it.
48:05 And it's going to work.
48:07 And I I've lost an uncle, I've lost mom and dad,
48:08 and I've lost son or daughter,
48:09 and I'm hurting so bad right now.
48:11 I'm just going to read."
48:12 Well, go ahead and start reading.
48:14 I encourage you to do that.
48:15 But I encourage you that it takes
48:17 more than just reading the Word of God.
48:18 It's reading it, it's believing it,
48:21 and it's receiving it with all readiness of mind.
48:24 In the Book of Acts Chapter...
48:26 I think, what is it, 17:11.
48:29 So we read it, and then we believe it,
48:32 and then we receive it, we accept it in.
48:35 For it's possible,
48:37 remember to know the author of the Bible.
48:40 Notice it, know the Bible
48:41 without knowing the author of the Bible.
48:43 Did we get that?
48:45 It's possible to know the Bible
48:48 without knowing the author of the Bible.
48:51 See? Well, I know the Bible.
48:52 I know what it said.
48:54 Yeah, but do you know the author of the Bible?
48:57 Give you a quick illustration of that in this one,
48:59 the principle I think you've heard several times,
49:01 but it makes sense here.
49:04 There was an actor famous for his voice,
49:09 you know, everybody would recognize his voice,
49:11 and he was asked to recite the 23rd Psalms.
49:16 And so as soon as he was asked in this group of people
49:19 to recite the 23rd Psalm,
49:20 he had a little different look on his face.
49:25 But he saw an old pastor there and he said,
49:27 "I will recite it
49:29 if the old pastor will recite it
49:31 when I get done."
49:33 Interesting thought.
49:34 The pastor was like, "Oh, boy, you know,
49:36 I'm not like this guy here.
49:37 He's an actor.
49:39 He's got the voice for all of this,
49:40 but well, I'll recite it.
49:42 I'll do that."
49:44 The actor began to recite the 23rd Psalm.
49:48 "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want."
49:52 And as he began to talk, it grew silent.
49:56 All the people were there, they say, you hear a pin drop.
50:02 He left the people spellbound, they were speechless.
50:07 And when he had finished,
50:08 everybody present there
50:11 begin to clap their hands and say,
50:13 "What a wonderful job."
50:16 Well, it's time for the old pastor.
50:19 The old pastor stood up, he began to recite the same,
50:23 "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want."
50:26 His voice lacked many of those qualities
50:30 that the actor had.
50:33 That just seem like it wasn't the same.
50:34 It just didn't have that right there.
50:36 But notice,
50:37 when he had finished reciting the 23rd Psalms,
50:41 there was no sound of applause.
50:45 The many heads were bowed
50:49 and not a dry eye in the congregation.
50:55 The actor said, he got up on his own,
51:00 and he came up to the old pastor,
51:04 he put his arm around the pastor.
51:10 He looked at the people, and he looked at the pastor,
51:11 and he said, "You know, I, I reached your eyes,
51:16 and I reached your ears,
51:19 but he reached your heart."
51:22 What an interesting thought!
51:24 He reached your heart.
51:26 He continued, "I know verbatim,
51:30 the 2300 Psalms,
51:34 the Shepherd Psalms,
51:38 but he," the old pastor, "knows the Shepherd."
51:42 We need to recognize that.
51:44 There's a difference.
51:46 The pastor knew the Shepherd, he could quote it,
51:49 but he didn't know the Shepherd.
51:50 He knew he didn't when he was asked to do it,
51:52 that's why he hesitated.
51:53 That's why he said,
51:54 "Let the pastor do it when I get done."
51:58 Again the Bible tells us,
52:00 you know, really,
52:01 we look at what a difference it makes to know Him,
52:05 whatever you're going through,
52:06 what a difference it makes to know Him.
52:10 This is what it's all about.
52:12 John 16:23, 24,
52:14 and you could read 20 through 28,
52:16 but we don't have time, do we?
52:17 We have three or four minutes left.
52:18 The Bible says, "Verily, verily, I say, "
52:20 John 16: 20 and then 24,
52:23 "that you shall weep and lament,
52:25 but the world shall rejoice,
52:28 you shall be sorrowful," notice this,
52:30 "but your sorrow shall be turned into joy."
52:33 Don't get discouraged, your sorrow shall be what?
52:35 Turned into joy.
52:37 Verse 24, "Hither to have ye asked nothing in My name,
52:40 ask and ye shall receive that your joy may be full."
52:46 Notice, that your joy may be full.
52:50 Jesus said there's going to be times
52:52 that we would weep.
52:54 Jesus said there'll be time
52:55 that we're going to be sorrowful,
52:57 there'll be times that our heart
52:58 seems about to break.
53:00 And we seem to have there's no answer.
53:02 He says, "Look to Me."
53:04 In this time,
53:05 Jesus told His disciples, you remember?
53:08 The disciples at knowing Jesus about to go away on the cross,
53:11 they were weeping and crying.
53:13 They were sorrowful about it.
53:15 But Jesus told His disciples,
53:17 "Don't weep and don't be sorrowful."
53:18 Because you know, at His death,
53:20 because He said,
53:22 "In three days, I'm going to come back."
53:24 He had an answer,
53:26 He came forth out of the grave, praise God.
53:29 He honored certainly the promise that He had made.
53:32 Jesus asked them during this time,
53:34 just like the Bible's asking each one of us in this hour
53:37 that we live in to not to be sorrowful,
53:40 not to spend our time in morning as it were.
53:45 Because if they did, Desire of Ages brings out,
53:48 "It would have pleased the enemy."
53:51 It would have pleased the enemy if they had
53:54 because the enemy wanted them to think,
53:56 notice, the world to think that they had been deceived
53:58 and disappointed by Jesus.
54:02 But He said by faith, the disciples, we today,
54:05 who believe in the judgment hour message
54:09 is to look at into the heavens as it were by faith
54:11 to where Christ is at in the sanctuary above,
54:15 pleading our case,
54:16 standing before God of the universe,
54:19 pleading our cases,
54:20 saying, I'm ready to come back to get my people.
54:24 "Hear, oh, hear, oh, Lord, have mercy upon me."
54:28 Should that not be our prayer as we close today?
54:32 As we look at the Bible as many times,
54:34 we find David suffered, David suffered,
54:38 but he learned that his help was found in God.
54:41 And I'm encouraging you.
54:42 Your only help that you have in suffering
54:44 is it can be found in God.
54:46 Keep your eyes on Him.
54:48 "Hear, oh, Lord, and have mercy on me.
54:52 Be Thou mine helper," in Psalms 30:10 and 11.
54:56 Take time to read the Bible.
54:58 Spend time studying it,
54:59 spend time in your hour of need,
55:02 and be drawn closer to Jesus.
55:04 He will be there for you.
55:05 He'll never leave you, He'll never forsake you.
55:08 He's your all in all.
55:09 Just don't forget, don't forget Him
55:12 because the time will come.
55:13 You will be tested, you will be tried.
55:15 Let me pray for you few seconds that we have left.
55:17 Would you pray right now,
55:19 I like that people pray with me too,
55:20 because there's many who are hurting right now
55:22 that need help.
55:23 Let's pray.
55:24 Merciful Father in heaven, truly,
55:26 we thank You for Your precious Word.
55:27 Thank You for being an encouragement to us,
55:29 and leaving these precious promises
55:30 that we may draw from,
55:32 that we may gain strength from,
55:35 that we may see Jesus in a special way.
55:37 Fill the hearts and the minds
55:38 of those who now need Your Word.
55:40 And we would be careful to give You praise,
55:42 honor, and glory, in Jesus' name.
55:43 Amen.
55:47 So we encourage you
55:48 in the last few seconds that we have.
55:49 We thank you for joining us today.
55:52 And we're going to be praying for you.

56:15 about times in your life
56:17 where the sorrow has been overwhelming.
56:20 But you know what?
56:21 God has an answer.
56:22 As we open His book,
56:24 as we find these promises, we find hope,
56:27 we find a peace that passes all understanding.
56:30 He wants to give that to you.
56:32 Won't you submit?
56:33 Won't you just say,
56:35 "Lord, come in and take control."
56:37 I know that many of you have gone through heartache,
56:40 whether it's been in your family,
56:42 or if it's been in one of these storms
