00:07 From Arcadia California,
00:09 the Carter Report presents
00:10 the living word around the world.
00:16 Hello, I'm Dave Deno
00:18 for John Carter and the Carter Report.
00:20 Here to encourage you to be a part of this ministry,
00:23 to be a partner in this ministry,
00:25 to know the joy of giving.
00:28 God's Word tells us
00:29 that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
00:32 And I believe that it is more joyful to give
00:35 than to receive,
00:36 but the only way that you will know this
00:38 is to do it yourself,
00:39 to come and join us in this wonderful ministry
00:42 of bringing the gospel to hundreds, thousands,
00:45 tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of people
00:48 in areas around the world
00:50 that perhaps you and I
00:51 may never have the opportunity to travel to.
00:54 This is a way
00:55 that you can support the preaching of the gospel
00:58 that you can support new lives in Christ.
01:02 Now we're very grateful for your participation,
01:05 and we want to show you that appreciation
01:07 by sending something back to you
01:09 to say, thank you for your gift.
01:13 One would be a terrific book that is written by John Carter
01:16 called The Fate of the Heathen.
01:19 And this is a great book, not only for you to read,
01:21 but also to share with family members
01:23 and with friends.
01:24 It's very direct, very to the point.
01:27 And then another book that John's a little shy about
01:30 is the history of John Carter and the Carter Report.
01:34 You can send your gift to the Carter Report
01:36 at PO Box 1900,
01:39 Thousand Oaks, California 91358.
01:43 In Australia, you can send it to Terrigal,
01:47 New South Wales and the box is on the screen.
01:50 I encourage you to be a part of this ministry.
01:54 Write to us again
01:55 at the Carter Report, Box 1900,
01:58 Thousand Oaks, California 91358.
02:01 And in Australia at Terrigal, New South Wales.
02:06 Again, the box number is on the screen.
02:09 Thank you.
02:10 Thank you so much
02:11 for being a part of this ministry.
02:18 I want to give you the warmest welcome today
02:21 to this extraordinary program.
02:24 We've just come back from Johannesburg,
02:26 where we saw the mighty power of God.
02:31 The people over there tell us
02:33 things happened in those meetings
02:35 that they had never seen before in the history of South Africa.
02:41 I'm here to tell you today
02:43 that the blood of Jesus has not lost its power.
02:48 And can you say amen?
02:51 Amen. And praise the Lord.
02:52 I'm going to invite up a beautiful lady
02:55 that I had the privilege of baptizing
02:57 some time ago in Philippines,
02:59 Sharon Verde.
03:00 Would you like to come, Sharon?
03:02 Would you all please
03:05 give our beautiful Sharon the warmest...
03:09 Good morning, Sharon.
03:10 Good morning, Pastor. Happy Sabbath.
03:12 It's nice to see you.
03:13 It's nice to see you again too.
03:15 It's always nice to see you, Sharon.
03:17 Now tell me,
03:19 give me your impressions from the heart
03:22 about the Johannesburg campaign?
03:26 I wasn't sure about the place,
03:28 of course, you know, when you think about Africa,
03:30 it's always the jungle, the Safari,
03:33 but it's such a lovely place.
03:34 We got there, of course we, you know,
03:36 it's a 16-hour flight or maybe longer than that,
03:38 but it was very refreshing
03:41 to see the people to see the place,
03:43 it's such a gorgeous place, very friendly people.
03:46 And so, I was really glad
03:47 to be able to go to the mission.
03:49 And we saw the power of God.
03:52 Of course, every night.
03:55 And the first few weeks that we were there,
03:57 the first week that I was there it was raining every night,
04:00 and I was kind of scared
04:01 that people are gonna stop coming,
04:03 but the place is packed every night.
04:06 And I was so happy for that.
04:07 And I praise God for that.
04:09 And we want to send greetings to the people in South Africa
04:11 who are watching this telecast.
04:13 You're going to sing for us now?
04:14 Yes.
04:15 So glad that you're here, Sharon.
04:31 Every day they pass me by
04:38 I can see it in their eyes
04:44 Empty people filled with care
04:51 Headed who knows where
04:58 On they go Through private pains
05:04 Living fear to fear
05:11 Laughter hides Their silent cries
05:18 Only Jesus hears
05:25 People need the Lord
05:30 People need the Lord
05:36 At the end of broken dreams
05:43 He's the open door
05:49 People need the Lord
05:55 People need the Lord
06:01 When will we realize
06:07 People need the Lord
06:27 We are called to take His light
06:33 To a world Where wrong seems right
06:39 What could be too great a cost
06:45 For sharing life With one who's lost
06:51 Through His love Our hearts can feel
06:57 All the grief they bear
07:03 They must hear The words of life
07:09 Only we can share
07:15 People need the Lord
07:21 People need the Lord
07:26 At the end of broken dreams
07:33 He's the open door
07:39 People need the Lord
07:44 People need the Lord
07:50 When will we realize
07:56 That we must give our lives
08:02 For people need the Lord
08:19 People need the Lord
08:43 I want you to notice this testimony
08:45 from a man who was baptized at the close of the meetings.
08:49 My name is Glenn Osha, turned 50 three months ago.
08:53 And today,
08:55 I had the wonderful opportunity
08:56 of not only being able to be baptized,
09:00 but to choose to be baptized
09:03 in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.
09:06 I'm a young Jewish boy
09:07 that got born again 21 years ago,
09:10 at the age of 29.
09:12 And I know for 21 years
09:13 I've been putting off keeping the Sabbath
09:16 coming from a Jewish background.
09:18 And with all the teachings that I've had in the church
09:20 to just stay in faith and the law is gone.
09:23 I'm so excited because
09:25 when I was confronted
09:27 to be baptized today, this morning,
09:31 last night, and yesterday was
09:33 one of the worst days of my life,
09:35 'cause Satan tried to almost kill me.
09:39 And I told my precious wife,
09:41 I'm gonna pray
09:43 and God's Holy Spirit is gonna lead me
09:45 and can give me peace to get baptized.
09:47 So I'm so excited
09:49 to be in the Seventh-day Adventist's baptism,
09:52 not only because I come from a Jewish background
09:54 'cause when I was a Jew without Christ's forgiveness,
09:57 I was lost in the Sabbath.
09:59 But now today that I'm born again
10:02 and baptized
10:03 into the Seventh-day Adventist in Christ.
10:06 It's fantastic
10:07 because here where the Son says
10:09 free shall be free indeed.
10:10 And I'm so glad at the age of 50
10:13 to have been given a chance by God,
10:14 He's so long suffering and patient with all of us.
10:17 And especially with me,
10:19 He's never let me down for 21 years.
10:21 And I know that best is yet to come
10:23 because a lot people have been teaching
10:25 in this Seventh-day Adventist group.
10:28 Just think a moment, you cannot do away with any,
10:32 you can't murder, you can't lie,
10:35 you can't have other gods,
10:37 you can't commit adultery, covetousness.
10:39 Now, what about the Sabbath seventh day?
10:42 So the seventh day is Saturday
10:45 is the other one that I'm now completed
10:47 in the ten beautiful Ten Commandments.
10:51 And what we learned here was not only commandments,
10:54 but it's a testimony, it's...
10:57 We overcome by the blood of the Lamb
10:58 and the word of our testimony
11:00 is Christ in us, the hope of glory,
11:02 His testimony,
11:04 His Ten Commandments by grace through faith.
11:07 Can I keep it?
11:08 Not because I have to,
11:10 but because I really passionately want to.
11:13 So I thank God for His grace and mercy on my life.
11:16 And God bless the team all over the world,
11:19 as they keep shining
11:20 and show the Muslims and the Jews
11:22 and everybody else,
11:24 the truth of the Word of God,
11:26 which is coming out
11:27 of this beautiful Seventh-day Adventist.
11:29 God richly bless you.
11:31 Thank you.
11:34 On one occasion,
11:35 I was attending a tremendous series of meetings in Sydney.
11:40 I was just a boy going to college.
11:42 I was 18 and 19 years of age,
11:45 and the preacher was a great American preacher.
11:47 You can guess who he was, Dr. Billy Graham.
11:50 And there was a crowd there of 120,000 people.
11:55 He had a choir that seemed to be 10,000 people,
11:58 quite a big show.
12:00 He said,
12:01 "Out there today, there's a man or a woman
12:05 and you're empty inside."
12:07 And he said,
12:09 "I want you to know something,
12:10 only Christ can fill that emptiness."
12:14 Never forgotten that.
12:16 I wanna say it to you today too.
12:18 As this Jewish man testified,
12:20 without Christ we are empty inside.
12:24 And if you feel today that you're empty inside,
12:27 remember that Jesus can satisfy.
12:31 Nothing can satisfy except Christ in God,
12:35 not going to church in a formalized way.
12:40 Not sex,
12:43 not religion is so much of it in the world.
12:47 Not movie after movie, after movie,
12:51 not booze as they call it in some places, alcohol,
12:56 not sport
12:57 or football in America
13:00 or cricket in Australia.
13:03 Those things don't satisfy, not for long, anyhow,
13:06 not money and riches.
13:10 The Bible tells us that the love of money,
13:12 not money itself,
13:13 but the love of money is the root of all evil.
13:18 Isn't it amazing
13:19 that so many people are mesmerized by gold,
13:24 silver and the dollar and not drugs?
13:29 We know, and this is a terrible thing.
13:32 We know that some 30,000 Mexicans
13:35 have been murdered during the last few years.
13:39 We've got terrible drug wars,
13:40 just a few miles from this church,
13:43 you know, down at Tijuana on the Mexican border.
13:48 And there's this terrible warfare
13:50 going on in Mexico
13:52 because so many people are here in the United States believe
13:57 that drugs can somehow satisfy,
14:01 but drugs do not satisfy,
14:04 but the presence of Christ in the life.
14:07 I want you please to take your Bibles
14:09 and turn to a wonderful text.
14:11 It's the Book of Ecclesiastes
14:13 3:11.
14:18 And I want you please to take a moment
14:21 and turn with me to the text.
14:22 These are the words of Solomon and the text is Ecclesiastes.
14:28 That's about halfway through the Bible.
14:31 Have you got it?
14:32 Ecclesiastes 3:11.
14:40 And the preacher said in the Book of Ecclesiastes,
14:44 "He has made everything beautiful
14:46 in its time.
14:48 He has also set eternity in the hearts of men,
14:55 yet they cannot fathom
14:56 what God has done from beginning to end."
15:00 I want to put this text
15:01 or the theme of this text over here
15:03 in the, on the blackboard.
15:05 The Bible says that God, the Creator
15:11 has set eternity...
15:16 He said eternity
15:18 in the hearts of men.
15:27 So when Dr. Billy Graham said,
15:29 there's a person out here
15:31 and you're feeling empty inside,
15:33 it's because God has set eternity
15:38 in the hearts of men.
15:41 You know, the very reason you're here in church today
15:45 is because God has set eternity in your heart
15:49 and you're here because there's a longing inside you
15:52 to get to know God.
15:55 Sin has played havoc with our souls.
16:00 Jesus said, you being evil,
16:03 which is a pretty strong thing to say
16:05 our hearts without God are hardened, they're blind.
16:10 But nevertheless,
16:11 there is in every person
16:13 I think are yearning to be better, to do better,
16:18 to rise higher and to live for eternity.
16:21 That's why we're here today.
16:23 And that's why we went to South Africa.
16:27 And I want to give you today
16:29 a report of the Johannesburg campaign
16:32 that just finished only just a few weeks ago.
16:37 Johannesburg is really a great city.
16:43 It is a city of some 4 million souls.
16:47 It is a city of affluence, magnificent malls,
16:52 better than we have.
16:53 I think here in California,
16:55 magnificent motorcars,
16:57 so many good cars and so many magnificent homes.
17:04 It is also a place of tremendous contrast.
17:10 You have dreadful, dreadful shantytowns.
17:15 Now you have these magnificent hotels
17:17 and magnificent malls and magnificent theaters,
17:22 but you go just a little distance
17:24 and you come upon these dreadful shantytowns,
17:29 where so many people live
17:32 in awful, awful, terrible poverty.
17:38 It is also a city like South Africa itself
17:42 of walls and wires.
17:44 It's a city. It's a land of tensions.
17:48 South Africa has got to be
17:50 one of the most beautiful countries
17:52 in all the world.
17:54 When God gave out the riches, the natural riches,
17:57 He gave so much to Africa and especially to South Africa,
18:04 but it is a land of terrible crime.
18:09 We stayed in a very nice hotel,
18:12 but we couldn't walk out the gates of the hotel
18:14 and go down to the nearest shop
18:17 because they said,
18:18 it's not a case of if you'll be mugged,
18:21 it's a case of how you'll be mugged.
18:25 And so, the hotel,
18:27 every decent home
18:29 is surrounded by a tremendous, tremendous wall.
18:33 And on the top of those walls, you have electric wire.
18:40 So it's very hard to get people,
18:41 at least people who live in those homes,
18:44 it's very hard to get those people
18:45 to come out to meetings.
18:48 We felt, we were there for exactly five weeks.
18:52 And even though we had a tremendous experience
18:55 and loved those people,
18:56 we felt as though
18:57 we had been locked up in a prison for five weeks.
19:02 And I was glad to come back to Los Angeles
19:05 where it seemed to be so extraordinary safe.
19:10 And it is compared with South Africa
19:13 and Johannesburg.
19:14 Johannesburg, of course,
19:15 is the most dangerous city in all of Africa.
19:18 Africa is the most dangerous continent
19:21 in all the world.
19:23 And Johannesburg is the most dangerous city
19:27 on the face of the continent.
19:30 And the people there like us, they need the Lord.
19:34 The only solution to the problems of South Africa
19:37 is Jesus and His love, not politics.
19:41 They've changed governments,
19:43 but they haven't changed the human heart.
19:45 Would you come over with me please to Romans 5:5-8?
20:02 This is a really a wonderful marvelous text.
20:05 Romans 5:5-8 Paul says,
20:08 "You see, at just the right time,
20:11 when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
20:16 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man,
20:19 though for a good man
20:20 someone might possibly dare to die.
20:24 But God demonstrates His own love for us in this
20:27 while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
20:33 Listen, in South Africa,
20:38 I met some of the most beautiful people
20:41 I've met anywhere in the world.
20:44 Black people, colored people and white people.
20:48 What a tragedy it is that people segregate themselves
20:52 because of their color.
20:55 Remember what Martin Luther King said,
20:58 "A man should be judged not by the color of his skin,
21:02 not by the content, not by the pigment of his skin,
21:05 but by the content of his character."
21:08 But over there, everybody sort of segregates willingly
21:13 because that's how they want it to be.
21:15 And so, you have black people
21:18 and you have people
21:20 who call themselves colored people,
21:22 and then you have white people.
21:26 I told the folks over there a little story.
21:29 I said, I want you to know something.
21:33 I don't believe
21:35 there are going to be any white people in heaven.
21:40 And the audience was very quiet
21:44 because it was a mixed audience.
21:46 I was invited to go to South Africa
21:48 in the days of apartheid.
21:50 They said,
21:51 "We want you to come to Cape Town
21:52 and run a campaign
21:54 in the days of apartheid."
21:55 I said, "Will there be segregation?"
21:57 They said, "Absolutely.
21:58 There'll be meetings for whites.
21:59 There'll be meetings for blacks.
22:01 There'll be meetings for colored folks,
22:02 but they won't meet together."
22:03 I said, "Then I won't be coming."
22:07 So I would not go to a place where people were segregated.
22:11 It is against the gospel of Christ.
22:15 It's so wrong,
22:17 whether it's done by the law as South Africa did,
22:21 or whether it's done voluntarily,
22:23 it shows there's something wrong
22:25 with the human heart.
22:26 I said to the folks,
22:28 "There's gonna be no white people in heaven."
22:30 There was a desolate pause.
22:31 And then I said,
22:32 "What's more,
22:34 they're going to be no colored people
22:36 in heaven either."
22:37 And there was a little more noise
22:39 because I was getting pretty close.
22:43 And then I said to them,
22:44 "What's more,
22:45 there's not gonna be any black people in heaven."
22:49 I said, "Do you want to know why?
22:52 Not going to be any white people in the heaven,
22:54 not going to be any colored people in heaven,
22:56 not going to be any black people in heaven,
22:58 only red people in heaven,
23:00 because they're all covered by the blood of Jesus."
23:03 And when we get to heaven, my friend,
23:05 we're not going to see people through the eyes of racism,
23:10 but we're going to see them through the blood of our Lord,
23:14 Jesus Christ.
23:16 So I believe that Jesus meets the need of black people,
23:21 colored people and white people.
23:25 And they are going to be no white people in heaven,
23:27 just red people.
23:29 Steve Sauza, the head elder of this church came
23:31 and, Steve, you are a blessing.
23:33 I want you to come out now and I want you to...
23:36 Would you please welcome Steve today?
23:39 Steve, I'm glad to see you.
23:41 Tell me what were your overall impressions
23:45 of South Africa
23:47 and the Johannesburg campaign for Christ?
23:50 It was just an amazing time there.
23:52 I could see God had a great plan there
23:55 and nothing was gonna stop Him from completing that plan.
24:00 Tell me the people...
24:03 Tell me how you saw the people and what happened in your heart
24:07 when you saw the crowds coming?
24:09 It was so nice to see people get there early.
24:12 They were there an hour before the program started.
24:16 They sat through the whole program
24:17 an hour and a half.
24:18 They did not move.
24:21 There was no noise. You could hear a pin drop.
24:23 They were interested in the subject.
24:25 They were just absorbing what was being said.
24:30 The Holy Spirit was working in their heart.
24:32 Something else, Steve,
24:33 the local people told us,
24:35 they'd never seen so many Afrikaan people,
24:39 they are white people come to the meetings.
24:42 This was something new in South Africa.
24:45 Our advertising was aimed at black people,
24:48 colored people, everybody,
24:50 but there was a vast number of white people
24:53 came Afrikaans
24:55 and they do not normally come, but they came.
25:00 And how did they respond?
25:03 It's amazing.
25:04 Like I said that
25:06 they just wanted to come every night.
25:08 It rained and here in California,
25:11 if it starts raining, nobody shows up.
25:13 Everybody still showed up an hour before the program.
25:16 And they sat through the whole program.
25:19 The people that were organizing this
25:21 were just astounded that Afrikaans would come.
25:24 They weren't expecting that,
25:26 but God has His own plans of who He should invite
25:29 and His own purposes on who should be saved,
25:32 so that he could influence the whole country.
25:34 Steve, you are a blessing and God bless you, Steve.
25:37 Thank you for coming with us.
25:39 You are a blessing.
25:45 I believe this today.
25:47 And I say this from my heart.
25:49 I don't say it
25:51 because I'm some sort of an armchair theologian
25:54 or a person who's just into theory.
25:58 I said, because I've seen it.
26:00 I believe that the blood of Jesus
26:03 has not lost its power.
26:06 I believe the gospel is still the power of God
26:09 for the salvation of men and women.
26:11 I want you to come over here with me to John 12:32-33.
26:24 These are beautiful words.
26:25 And these words come from our Lord Himself,
26:28 John 12:32-33.
26:35 It is, here we go.
26:38 You got this?
26:40 "But if I, but I, when I'm lifted from the earth,
26:44 will draw all men to myself.'
26:49 He said this to show the kind of death
26:52 He was going to die."
26:54 Jesus said,
26:56 "If I be lifted up from the earth,
27:00 I will draw all men unto me.
27:05 There is an amazing attraction
27:09 that Christ has for people.
27:13 It's an amazing thing.
27:15 When people would come out in spite of crime
27:19 and flooding rains and everything else,
27:22 what brings those people?
27:23 It can't be a person except Christ
27:28 because Christ alone
27:30 meets the needs of the human heart.
27:34 This is wonderful.
27:35 These people who came
27:37 were a cross section of South African society.
27:40 We wanted the advertising to reach everyone.
27:43 And so, we had beautiful black people,
27:46 beautiful colored people and beautiful white people.
27:50 Church leaders were astounded
27:53 that so many Caucasians attended
27:55 because these people,
27:57 the wealthy people live in beautiful homes
28:00 behind these high walls and wire.
28:02 Some call them a neglected minority.
28:08 So these people just don't come up
28:09 to religious meetings,
28:11 but they came
28:13 and I will tell you why they came.
28:16 It was my aim by the grace of God
28:19 not just to preach doctrine, but to preach Christ.
28:24 And Christ has this tremendous attraction
28:28 for people to the human heart.
28:31 I met a beautiful pastor over there.
28:34 His name is Pastor Samuel Misiani.
28:37 He gave me this book.
28:41 He watches our television program
28:44 in South Africa.
28:47 Pastor Samuel,
28:48 I want to send you my greetings
28:50 and I have read your book through.
28:53 And this book has blessed me,
28:56 especially the dedication.
29:00 The book is dedicated, says to my mother
29:04 Mikhai Damaris Ajuga Misiani.
29:10 That's not how to say it either.
29:12 My greatest prayer warrior
29:14 who nurtured me in the Christian faith
29:16 from childhood.
29:18 When I turned away from God as a teenager,
29:21 she did not give up on me.
29:22 Neither should we give up on teenagers,
29:25 but she kept on praying.
29:27 She prayed for over 20 years
29:30 that I should be a minister of the gospel.
29:34 She prophetically spoke my future
29:36 when she named me Samuel.
29:40 God answered.
29:41 I want to read you just a little bit about
29:43 out of this book,
29:45 because it has some real theology in it.
29:49 Real theology from the heart of Africa.
29:53 Christ made human like us in every way.
29:56 He is the Lamb of God who bore your sins and mine.
30:00 He suffered the death that you and I deserve,
30:03 so that we may receive the life that He alone deserves.
30:07 My friend,
30:08 that is the glorious news of our union with Christ
30:11 through his death.
30:12 We read from the scriptures.
30:14 The love of Christ constraineth us
30:17 because we thus judge,
30:19 that if one died for all, then we're all dead.
30:26 By the design of God,
30:28 all participated in the death of His Son.
30:31 That is the conclusion of the matter.
30:34 In fact, the law requires
30:35 and nearly everything to be cleansed with blood
30:39 and without the shedding of blood,
30:41 there is no forgiveness.
30:42 Think these words are coming from the very heart of Africa.
30:46 The Word of God explains this further in the same chapter
30:49 by saying that
30:51 as it is appointed for men to die once,
30:53 but after this, the judgment.
30:55 So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.
30:59 Jesus paid it all.
31:03 By the will of God,
31:05 we were all in Christ Jesus
31:07 as the corporate head of humanity,
31:09 just as Adam was.
31:12 Just as Adam sin affected the entire human race.
31:16 So God's salvation through Christ
31:18 affects us too.
31:21 Christ is both representative and our substitute
31:27 through the disobedience of the one man, Adam,
31:30 sin and death entered into the world
31:33 and passed unto all men.
31:35 Through the obedience of the one Man, Jesus Christ
31:38 many will be made righteous heirs
31:41 of eternal life.
31:43 That, my friend, is the gospel.
31:46 And it comes to you today
31:49 from this wonderful black African pastor
31:53 to whom God has revealed the gospel.
31:58 It's a wonderful thing.
32:01 When you go on a campaign like this,
32:04 that you rub shoulders with people
32:07 who are not like yourself.
32:12 I wasn't just talking to white people
32:16 or Australians or Americans,
32:19 I was talking to God's family and God's family, my friend,
32:24 is made up of every color you can think of.
32:27 And there must be no racism in God's church.
32:31 Can you say amen? Amen!
32:33 Come over here to the Book of Galatians,
32:35 where Paul talks about racism,
32:38 Galatians 3:26 and onwards.
32:47 "You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,
32:50 for all of you who were baptized into Christ
32:53 have closed yourselves with Christ.
32:56 There is neither Jew nor Greek,
32:59 slave nor free, male nor female,
33:03 for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
33:06 If you belong to Christ,
33:08 then you are Abraham's seed
33:11 and heirs according to the promise."
33:14 Listen to me,
33:16 I know this is not politically correct
33:18 what I'm going to say to you.
33:21 I'm glad I don't go to a church that's racist.
33:27 I'm glad I don't go to a church where there's only one color.
33:33 I'm glad only one nationality.
33:35 I'm glad I'm a part of a church that is colorblind
33:40 because it sees people through the blood of Jesus.
33:44 So there must be no racism in the church.
33:47 Now, Beverley came with us
33:49 and Beverley visited some of the...
33:52 visited an orphanage,
33:53 and she's going to come and she's going to tell you
33:57 what her eyes saw.
33:59 Welcome, Beverley.
34:03 The continent of Africa is magnificent.
34:06 Made more so by its three great treasures,
34:10 one it's people
34:12 and two,
34:13 the amazing variety of fantastic animals
34:17 and three,
34:18 the gold, diamonds and oil that runs through its veins.
34:23 Sadly, many of the people in that great land
34:27 with the help of many in the West
34:29 have placed number three,
34:31 the gold, diamonds and oil on the top of importance.
34:36 And millions have died
34:38 from the resulting wars and poverty.
34:41 Another tragedy in recent years
34:43 has been the curse of HIV and AIDS.
34:46 Nearly 14 million Africans have died
34:49 since the beginning of the epidemic.
34:52 Of the 52 countries in Africa,
34:55 South Africa has been one of the hardest hit
34:58 with close to 6 million infected
35:02 and millions have died.
35:04 And in South Africa they say
35:05 there's perhaps up to 2 million orphans.
35:09 Now these orphans have four possible options.
35:12 Number one, there are a few institutions,
35:15 some good, some not so good.
35:18 Two, there are grandmothers
35:21 who are taking these orphans into their homes
35:24 and they are doing all they can to help.
35:26 God bless them
35:27 because they don't have much themselves.
35:29 Number three,
35:31 there are people like Joy Mann and her husband
35:34 who live in a small rented house
35:36 on the outskirts of Johannesburg.
35:39 And even though they don't have much money,
35:41 they have taken in 17 orphans.
35:44 Several of them have HIV.
35:47 As I visited with them, I couldn't help,
35:50 but be impressed
35:52 and inspired by their loving and caring spirit.
35:56 And even though it was a poor home,
35:58 the children were well-kept and well-behaved.
36:02 Joy has worshiped with them every day.
36:04 She takes them to church
36:05 and she sends the older ones to school,
36:08 believing that
36:09 an education will help to build their self-esteem
36:12 and while also give them
36:13 the best opportunity of getting a good job
36:16 when they leave her.
36:18 Now, the government gives a small amount
36:20 for each child each month,
36:22 but at the time of my visit,
36:24 she hadn't received anything for over six months.
36:27 And so, we were glad to be able to help.
36:30 Now the fourth group of orphans
36:33 are siblings left on their own with no one to help.
36:37 The eldest one takes
36:39 or looks after the rest of the children.
36:42 And there are millions in this situation.
36:44 And I think, or I believe
36:46 the following letter tells it all.
36:48 My sister is six years old.
36:50 There are no grownups living with us.
36:53 We need clothes and shoes and water
36:55 also inside the house, which is just one room,
36:58 but especially somebody
37:01 to tuck me and my sister in at nighttime,
37:03 signed Apoa, aged 13.
37:07 Dear friends,
37:08 this is one of the reasons
37:10 that we must continue to work together
37:12 to make a difference.
37:23 Did Beverley tell you?
37:25 I think she did, but they say that in Johannesburg,
37:29 this is pretty hard to believe.
37:32 There are 500,000 young people out on the streets, no homes.
37:36 Now you can understand why there's crime.
37:39 You'll see strong young people lying around under the trees.
37:43 Said "What are they doing?"
37:46 And the man said to me, I said, "What are they doing?"
37:48 "They're watching you to see when you come and when you go,
37:51 so they can rob you."
37:53 So, folks, I want you to know something.
37:57 This is probably be politically incorrect to say
38:00 that politics doesn't seem
38:01 to change a lot of things in the world and all that.
38:03 You know what the world needs?
38:05 The world needs Jesus.
38:07 And when people come and hear about Jesus,
38:09 then it changes their lives.
38:11 Now, you may say,
38:13 what do you preach in your meetings?
38:15 Now we run meetings, not like anywhere else I think,
38:18 we open on biblical archeology
38:22 and this always gets not a little crowd.
38:26 This gets a tremendous crowd.
38:29 People have said to me,
38:30 but why don't you open on religious subjects?
38:32 Well, because we're trying to reach people for Christ
38:35 who don't know anything about religion.
38:37 We're trying to reach atheists, unbelievers
38:39 and people who don't go to church.
38:42 And in our meetings in South Africa, and in Russia,
38:46 and in Ukraine,
38:48 we have record breaking crowds.
38:50 It becomes a national event.
38:52 People come.
38:53 So we open on the wonders of ancient Egypt.
38:57 And then we moved down into subjects like this,
39:00 the Jew, the Arab in Jerusalem,
39:03 the Jewish man who gave his testimony
39:05 came along and heard that.
39:07 Then we talk about the wonders of astronomy.
39:09 The heavens are telling visitors from other worlds.
39:13 I believe
39:14 I know this gets some people little mad at me.
39:17 I believe in preaching the whole message of God.
39:22 I just believe in preaching whole of the message of God,
39:25 I believe in preaching the three angels' messages.
39:28 I know some people got so mad at me.
39:30 They say, "But you shouldn't do that."
39:31 I say, "Well, I take my orders from God.
39:34 Don't take them from you, you see."
39:36 But we talk about the man who wrote His own life story
39:39 before He was born,
39:40 they're the prophecies about Jesus.
39:42 And then I move
39:44 into the rise of the dreaded Antichrist
39:46 is Daniel 7.
39:48 Antichrist in action,
39:49 dark deeds of Antichrist reveal.
39:51 People say,
39:52 "Why on earth do you preach that stuff?
39:54 Somebody wrote me a letter in South Africa,
39:56 one of the saints said,
39:58 "We don't want you to preach any of that stuff."
39:59 I said, once again,
40:01 "I'm not working for you,
40:02 I'm working for God, you see."
40:04 And in Revelation 14, it has a picture.
40:06 You know what it is of the three angels
40:09 and the three angels.
40:11 Number one is the gospel.
40:12 So in our meetings,
40:14 we make the gospel first and foremost,
40:16 and then we move
40:18 into the great prophecies of the Bible.
40:20 And the Bible talks about the beast and his image.
40:22 People say,
40:24 "Do you really preach that stuff?"
40:25 Well, I want to be true to Jesus, you see.
40:28 And the Bible says that
40:30 message is going to be preached in the last days.
40:32 And so, I preach it,
40:34 but we wrap it up in the blood of Jesus.
40:37 We wrap it up in Calvary.
40:39 These are other subjects,
40:40 is it necessary to be baptized to be saved,
40:43 a Christian view of sex, the mark of the beast.
40:45 You preach the mark of the beast?
40:47 Yeah.
40:48 That's the third angel's message.
40:50 Where are the beloved dead?
40:51 The sin is to world or the occult.
40:53 What and where is heaven?
40:54 We try to preach the whole message of God.
40:58 So we will not be guilty or blamed
41:03 for the blood of men and women.
41:10 I'm gonna tell you something else
41:11 that's a little different.
41:15 My primary reason in running campaigns
41:18 is not to get people to join my church.
41:21 They will say,
41:22 well, that's the main reason you ought to preach,
41:24 get people to join your church.
41:26 My main reason is to get people to join Jesus.
41:29 Amen.
41:30 And I figure if they join Jesus,
41:33 everything else is going to take place
41:36 in its right time.
41:38 People asked me this question.
41:39 They say, they put in,
41:42 I got more questions in South Africa
41:44 than I've ever had before in my life,
41:46 hundreds and hundreds of questions.
41:47 What is your religion?
41:49 I would tell, well, first and foremost,
41:52 I'm a Christian.
41:53 Oh, you're a Christian.
41:55 I say, I'm not a very good Christian.
41:57 I make mistakes.
41:59 And I'm, you know, I'm not very good Christian.
42:03 But then I say to them,
42:05 I've never met too many people who are very good in anything.
42:09 But first and foremost, I'm a Christian.
42:11 And then secondly, I tell them, well, I'm also a Protestant.
42:16 Oh, what on earth is that?
42:18 Well, I believe in the Bible and the Bible alone.
42:22 I don't believe in hierarchies.
42:26 I'm a Protestant.
42:28 I'm a Protestant Christian,
42:29 I believe in the authority of the Bible.
42:32 And then I tell them, I am an Adventist.
42:37 Well, what's an Adventist? Or who's an Adventist?
42:40 Well, an Adventist is a person who believes in the advent,
42:43 the coming of the Lord.
42:45 I believe that Jesus is coming soon.
42:49 So I'm an Adventist.
42:50 And I believe in keeping the Ten Commandments
42:54 and I keep the Sabbath.
42:57 That makes me, this is my religion.
43:00 I am a Christian, Protestant, Sabbath keeping Adventist.
43:07 So that's my religion.
43:09 And I try to explain this to people
43:11 so they will want to follow Jesus
43:14 because all the meetings, my friends,
43:17 the meetings are about Jesus.
43:20 What were the results?
43:24 Well, when I had an altar call
43:25 and I remember we're talking here to sophisticated people,
43:28 we're not preaching out in the bush
43:30 and we're not preaching under trees.
43:33 We were preaching in the best theater
43:36 in Johannesburg.
43:38 I was preaching in the best theater
43:41 I've ever preached in any time in my life
43:45 as a minister of the gospel.
43:48 A thousand came forward in the altar call
43:51 to accept Christ.
43:54 Nine hundred came forward
43:56 to indicate a desire to be baptized.
43:59 And already hundreds of people have been baptized.
44:03 But I want you to know this,
44:06 only eternity is going to tell the results
44:12 of the South African campaign.
44:16 When I was running those meetings,
44:17 it seemed as though
44:19 the Spirit of God spoke to me one night
44:23 and I thought of the words of the great Apostle Paul.
44:25 He said,
44:27 "God didn't send me to baptize."
44:29 He said that.
44:30 He said, "He didn't send me to baptize,
44:33 but to preach the gospel of Christ."
44:38 You see, I figure this
44:39 is not much good baptizing people
44:41 unless they know Christ.
44:44 Now, when they know Christ, they will want to be baptized.
44:48 But, my friend, why baptize huge numbers of people
44:52 if they don't know the gospel of Jesus?
44:57 So, the emphasis in my ministry today
45:02 is to preach Christ and Christ
45:04 and Christ and the cross of Christ,
45:06 because if Christ is lifted up,
45:09 He will draw all men unto Himself
45:12 and we will see many baptized.
45:14 We will see the church growing.
45:18 Now, a person who came with us who was not a big blessing,
45:21 but a super big blessing was Pastor Willie G.
45:26 Now, Pastor Willie G is famous
45:30 in the United States of America.
45:31 Did you know this?
45:33 He had a fan club in South Africa.
45:36 They said, "Is this the real Willie G?"
45:40 I said, "Do you think there's a substitute somewhere?
45:43 No, this is the real Willie G."
45:48 And when Willie G walks out on the stage.
45:53 He knows how to talk and sing to the unchurched.
45:59 Mm-hmm, yes he does.
46:02 Willie G,
46:03 would you please welcome Pastor Willie G.
46:12 My brother,
46:14 I am glad that you are here today
46:17 and you were a super blessing to the people in Johannesburg.
46:23 What were your impressions?
46:25 I was overwhelmed.
46:27 I met not only the least of my expectations,
46:33 but it went far beyond anything I expected
46:37 of a country of a people.
46:40 And certainly,
46:41 God's Word was revealed to me
46:44 in a very new
46:45 and intimate dynamic in my life.
46:50 You know, we're gonna give you a job on our team.
46:52 Heard people saying things like that.
46:54 I mean, what a commercial.
46:56 Now, you were a super blessing.
47:01 When Pastor G sings, he connects with people.
47:06 I'm not gonna do it
47:07 'cause you don't do that in church,
47:09 but he's going to now sing you a song.
47:10 Would you please welcome him as he sings?
47:20 Oh, let us be
47:24 The generation
47:28 Of reconciliation and peace
47:35 And let us be
47:39 A holy nation
47:43 Where pride and prejudice Shall cease
47:50 Let us speak the truth in love
47:54 To the lost and least of these
47:58 Let us serve the Lord in unity
48:02 So others will believe
48:05 Let us be the generation
48:10 Of reconciliation and peace
48:20 And let us be the generation
48:28 Of reconciliation and peace
48:35 And let us build
48:38 On one foundation
48:43 Till He comes And the wars of men shall cease
48:50 Let us share the love of Jesus
48:54 Without hypocrisy
48:58 Let mercy and forgiveness
49:02 Begin with you and me
49:05 Let us be the generation
49:10 Of reconciliation and peace
49:20 Have we not one Father
49:28 Have we not one faith
49:35 Have we not one calling
49:43 To become one Holy race
49:50 Let us be the generation
49:54 Of reconciliation and peace
50:01 And let us pray for restoration
50:09 And seek the Lord together On our knees
50:16 Oh, let us keep our hearts From evil
50:20 And cling to what is good
50:24 Let us honor one another
50:28 And love the brotherhood
50:32 Let us be the generation
50:36 Of reconciliation and peace
50:43 Let us be the generation
50:47 Of reconciliation and peace
50:58 Let us be the generation Of peace
51:11 I wanna thank all the folks
51:13 who took part on the program over there.
51:14 I wanna thank particularly Hope Network.
51:18 They televised programs around South Africa,
51:21 150 downlinks
51:23 and right across the great content
51:24 of South Africa
51:26 and then 3ABN
51:27 through the leadership of Jim Gilley,
51:29 picked up the signal
51:31 and broadcasted around the world.
51:33 So I wanna thank Jim Gilley.
51:35 I wanna thank Andre of Hope in South Africa in Cape Town,
51:39 and these two television crews that did such a tremendous job.
51:43 I want to thank Beverley, and David, and Don, and Susan,
51:47 Javier, Pastor Harold Harker, Masi Rood, Steve Sowers,
51:51 Carlos Leon, Daniel Bergos
51:54 who with Carlos put up the pictures.
51:57 Sharon Verde
51:58 and Mr. and Mrs. Yonka Goodtrudeala,
52:00 and Hal Chesney from the great state of Texas.
52:05 I'm going to invite another person who came,
52:07 person has done such a great job
52:09 down through the years.
52:10 Would you please welcome Susan Piraino?
52:18 Susan, we're glad that you came.
52:20 Tell us from your heart,
52:22 what were your overwhelming impressions
52:26 of the Johannesburg campaign in South Africa?
52:29 Well, every time we go somewhere around the world,
52:32 we're always wondering what will the results be
52:35 and how will people respond?
52:37 And South Africa was no different
52:39 than any other place we've been around the world.
52:41 People came
52:43 and that's all because of the advertising
52:45 and the Spirit of God, obviously,
52:48 even the local Pastor Dave Spencer,
52:51 who is the conference president there told me,
52:54 he said, I've never seen so many people come
52:56 to a religious gathering.
52:59 And we had over almost 8,000 for the opening meeting
53:02 which was just amazing.
53:04 That was just incredible to see
53:07 the response and the interest in people.
53:09 And when you preach night after night,
53:11 like Steve said,
53:12 you could hear a pin drop in the room.
53:14 No one would stir.
53:15 It was just like in Russia.
53:17 And I was amazed
53:18 because I thought
53:20 it would be different, but it wasn't.
53:21 These people were captivated by the Word of God.
53:24 And it actually was piercing the heart
53:26 and changing and transforming them.
53:28 Were you personally blessed?
53:30 Oh, I'm always personally blessed.
53:32 And for me, these campaigns are like a shot in the arm
53:36 and they give me reason to keep going
53:39 and they make me really understand
53:41 that the focus of this work and the ministry
53:44 should be out there to proclaim the gospel.
53:46 Some of us think that we spend,
53:48 a lot of us spend too much time playing church
53:51 and it doesn't really accomplish anything.
53:54 But when we abate Jesus and go into all the world,
53:58 preach the gospel, and throw our hearts into it.
54:01 When people put money into it,
54:03 then we see the power of God and we see souls saved.
54:09 And I think, especially with this campaign,
54:11 because it was a live telecast throughout Africa,
54:14 and then with 3ABN throughout the world,
54:17 I think we have no idea
54:19 of the impact that this has had worldwide
54:21 among people everywhere.
54:22 So, I praise God for the opportunity
54:24 to be a part,
54:26 to play a small part in such a great work.
54:27 Thank you for coming Susan.
54:29 God bless you. God bless.
54:30 She also helped Daniel with the pictures every night.
54:33 Now, folks,
54:36 we're going to show you the testimony.
54:38 This winds it up.
54:40 The testimony of a little boy who came to the meetings.
54:45 Let me say this to all of you.
54:48 You and I are not an ordinary church.
54:52 I couldn't pastor or belong to an ordinary church
54:57 that plays church.
55:00 We are making by the grace of God,
55:03 an impact for Jesus around the world.
55:08 So now listen to this little boy
55:10 who came to the meetings.
55:13 Hi, my name is Kelly Lupolt and I'm from South Africa,
55:18 Johannesburg.
55:20 The John Carter meeting has been blessing everybody,
55:23 especially me.
55:25 It's touched my heart.
55:26 It's brought me closer to Jesus.
55:29 And I'd like that same opportunity for you.
55:31 Thank you.
55:37 That's okay. Isn't it?
55:38 Is that good?
55:40 Yes, it is good.
55:42 Now I bring you back to my opening remarks.
55:45 Remember,
55:46 God has set eternity in the hearts of men.
55:50 Now, you and I have got eternity in our hearts
55:54 and things, money, activities,
55:57 nothing will satisfy, but Jesus.
56:00 And if you haven't taken Jesus into your heart, my friend,
56:03 take Him in
56:05 and come to church on the Sabbath,
56:07 come to church on the Lord's Day
56:09 and be part of the people of God.
56:13 One day, there's going to be a great get together,
56:18 really is,
56:20 going to be a great get together.
56:22 People are going to be there from every nation,
56:25 kindred, tongue, and people.
56:28 And by the grace of God, you and I,
56:31 with 3ABN and Hope
56:32 are helping to take the news of Christ
56:35 to a perishing world.
56:38 And the good news is Jesus is coming.
56:43 Can you say it?
56:44 Maranatha, Jesus is coming.
56:49 Yes. Jesus is coming. Let us believe it.
56:51 Let us live it.
56:57 I am amazed
56:59 At Your glory Embraced
57:04 By Your mercy Oh Lord
57:08 I live to worship You
57:15 Oh Lord, I live to worship You
57:29 I live to worship You
57:43 It's the most high place.
