00:11 "The Living Word" around the world. 00:18 People wonder 00:21 what is happening in America, 00:23 at the very heart of this great nation. 00:27 Tremendous changes taking place. 00:30 People say you can hardly recognize the America of today 00:35 to the America of a few years ago. 00:37 What is happening in America? 00:42 Today I'm going to talk about that, 00:44 when I answer the question, 00:46 does God really care about America and Australia? 00:53 Does God care 00:54 about what is happening in the world today? 00:57 But firstly, please let me have the privilege 01:00 of introducing my wife Beverley, 01:03 who's going to come and give you a message. 01:05 Would you please welcome her today? 01:15 Happy Sabbath, everyone. 01:16 Happy Sabbath. 01:20 Way back in the late 1500s and the early 1600s 01:25 there lived one of England's 01:26 greatest poets and writers William Shakespeare, 01:30 who wrote amongst many other things, 01:32 "No legacy is so rich as honesty." 01:36 Now most of us would agree that honesty is the best policy. 01:41 However let's not leave it there. 01:43 Two hundred years later 01:45 another famous writer a Frenchman this time wrote, 01:49 "A legacy of honesty without grace and mercy 01:53 can turn us into villains or devils". 01:57 In his 19th century novel Les Miserables, 02:01 Hugo tells a story of a number of people, 02:04 including a police inspector who believed in honesty 02:08 but had no idea of mercy and grace. 02:12 Another is this thief, Jean Valjean 02:15 who had stolen some sliver candle sticks from a clergyman. 02:19 Now, the clergyman believed in honesty 02:22 and grace and mercy. 02:24 He knew that Valjean stolen 02:27 to get money to buy some food. 02:30 That didn't excuse what he had done of course. 02:32 But on Valjean's capture 02:34 and being brought back to the clergyman, 02:39 he was forgiven and was sent on his way a free man. 02:43 Valjean now understood the importance of honesty 02:47 and the meaning of grace and mercy 02:51 and for the rest of his life Valjean endeavored to live 02:55 and to share these great truths with others. 02:59 In a sense this is the story of a gospel isn't it, 03:02 because we are sinners 03:03 but because of God grace and mercy we are forgiven. 03:08 Grace and mercy, 03:10 preachers tell us that grace is getting 03:14 what we don't deserve, 03:16 salvation, forgiveness and eternal life, 03:20 while mercy is not getting what we deserve, 03:23 condemnation and eternal death. 03:26 Grace and mercy, 03:28 two of the most beautiful words in all the English language 03:32 in any language, because we all need them. 03:36 To anyone here or perhaps you're watching this telecast 03:40 and you haven't experienced God's grace and mercy, 03:44 I encourage you to do so today. 03:47 The Bible says, "Let us give thanks to the Lord 03:51 for His grace and mercy endureth forever." 03:55 Amen. Amen. 04:03 Hello, friend, I am John Carter in Colombia. 04:08 Behind me is the great city of Bogota the capital 04:12 of this amazing country. 04:15 This city is a city 04:17 of more than eight million souls. 04:21 It's up more than 8,000 feet in the Andes 04:26 and we've come here today with one purpose in mind 04:30 to preach the everlasting gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 04:35 We are here because we have a commission from God. 04:39 Jesus said, "Go into all the world 04:42 and preach the everlasting gospel, 04:45 baptizing them in the name of the Father, 04:48 and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." 04:51 The people here need the gospel of Christ. 04:55 And I am asking you today come with us, 04:58 if not in body but come with us in spirit. 05:02 This is been a very, very dangerous city. 05:05 A very dangerous part of the world 05:08 but we believe that we are safe 05:10 when we are in the hands of God. 05:13 Therefore I am beseeching you in the name of Christ 05:17 and in the names of these eight million plus inhabitants 05:21 in the city of Bogota 05:24 to come and help us to preach the Word of God. 05:27 Please support the preaching of the Word of God in Columbia. 05:31 Please write to me, John Carter, PO Box 1900, 05:36 Thousand Oaks, California, 91358. 05:40 In Australia, write to me at the address, 05:43 Terrigal, New South Wales, Australia. 05:47 Jesus said, "Work while it is day 05:50 the night is coming when no man can work." 05:54 Please write to me today. 05:56 Thank you and God bless you. 06:05 Our topic today is, Does God, 06:08 the great God who made the stars, 06:11 does He care? 06:12 Does He care about you, does He care about America? 06:15 Does He care about anything? 06:17 Does God care about cancer? 06:20 Something we're all some what little afraid of. 06:24 Does He care about cancer, 06:25 loneliness, poverty, pain, suffering? 06:29 Does He care about the children of Chernobyl. 06:32 We've been in that very area, we've particularly Beverley, 06:36 visited the orphanages 06:38 that have these poor little kids, 06:41 the victims of radiations. 06:43 Does God care about them? 06:44 Does He care about the grandmothers of Chernobyl? 06:47 They went back, they're living there 06:48 because they say this is home. 06:51 Does God care about the exploitation of the poor, 06:58 the minimum wage, 07:02 lying, unjust wars, violence, rape, 07:09 the abuse of little boys and little girls? 07:14 Does God care about America? 07:19 Does He care about the widows of Iraq? 07:21 Have you heard about them? 07:23 Hundreds of thousands of them 07:25 who lost their husbands in the war, 07:29 now they've got nobody to take care of them, 07:31 they sort of ostracize. 07:33 Does God care about sin? 07:36 Does God care about homosexuals? 07:38 Let me go no further, before I say, yes He does. 07:43 He loves homosexuals. 07:46 Does He care about who is sleeping with who? 07:50 You say, nobody knows, nobody cares. 07:55 Does He care about pornography 07:57 or is He taking a nap? 08:01 It would seem so, 08:02 I want you to take your Bible today 08:04 and turn to the Book of Jeremiah 08:06 and today, I will stay basically 08:08 in the Book of Jeremiah the prophet. 08:12 So turn over here Jeremiah, 08:15 were gonna come to chapter 1 and verses 1 down to 3. 08:19 Jeremiah 1:1-3. This book is about 2,600 years old. 08:25 Jeremiah 1:1 "The words of Jeremiah 08:32 son of Hilkiah, 08:35 one of the priests at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin. 08:41 The word of the Lord came to him." 08:44 So what you're gonna hear today my friend, 08:46 is the word of the Lord. 08:48 Not the word of the president of the United States, 08:52 not the word of the Congress, 08:54 but the word of the Lord therefore you can believe it. 09:01 "The word of the Lord came to him 09:02 in the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah 09:05 son of Amon king of Judah, 09:08 and through the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah 09:14 king of Judah, down to the fifth month 09:16 of the eleventh year of Zedekiah 09:21 son of Josiah king of Judah, 09:24 when the people of Jerusalem went into exile." 09:29 This is a book about fighting and bloodshed 09:35 and the destruction of the city of Jerusalem. 09:41 It is written in tough hard times. 09:47 Word of the Lord came to him. 09:49 In verses 4 and 5 and what America needs today, 09:53 what Australia needs, what this church needs 09:56 is the word of the Lord. 10:00 "The word of the Lord came to me, saying, 10:04 'before I formed you in the womb I knew you, 10:09 before you were born I set you apart, 10:13 I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.' 10:19 " I want you to personalize that because if you read the Bible 10:22 and you don't personalize it, 10:24 it doesn't mean hill of beans. 10:27 God said before you were born, 10:30 before you were conceived, 10:32 before you were made in the womb 10:34 God says I knew you, I appointed you. 10:37 Listen, God sees you, God knows you. 10:42 God knows what you're thinking right now in church. 10:47 God knows when you're sleeping with somebody 10:51 you shouldn't be sleeping with. 10:57 Before I formed you in the womb I saw you. 11:03 God is real, He is almighty, 11:06 He is holy, He is loving, He is very older, 11:13 has an infinite intelligence therefore 11:16 He knows everything about everything. 11:19 He exists. 11:21 The latest theory in science is that 11:24 God made everything out of nothing 11:29 and they tell us this, with a straight faith. 11:33 The great professor Dawkins from Oxford University, 11:38 I heard him say, oh he said, we know a postulating 11:42 the theory that God made everything. 11:45 No, no, no of course not God 11:48 that the universe was made by nothing out of nothing. 11:55 They're even putting up books on this, 11:58 out of nothing. 12:05 That you craziness, 12:11 atheistic listen, those of you 12:14 who believe in atheistic evolution, 12:17 who think they've got the church on the ropes, listen, 12:23 they teach though they would not say 12:25 it as plainly as this. 12:27 They teach if you leave hydrogen gas 12:30 alone by itself for billions of years 12:34 it'll become people singing and dancing. 12:41 If you leave boil it down 12:43 yet to the common lowest common denominator, 12:46 if you leave hydrogen gas alone by itself 12:52 for billions of years through evolution 12:55 it'll become people singing and dancing. 12:58 I say balderdash. 13:02 Now incase you folks don't know, 13:05 I am a grandpa. 13:09 I have a granddaughter called Amelie 13:14 and she is a little over two and she is a chatterbox. 13:18 And when I was up in the city of San Francisco 13:22 she said to me, it's ridiculous. 13:27 This is her word at present, 13:30 she has different flavors of the month 13:32 and at present it is not ridiculous 13:34 but it's ridiculous. 13:37 I say with Amelie the theory that the universe 13:41 was made out of nothing is ridiculous 13:47 even though smart people are saying it. 13:52 He knows everything about everything 13:55 and everyone He knows you. 13:58 Those of you who are sitting down the back, 14:01 those of you who are sitting down the front, 14:04 He knows everything. 14:06 Now, I want you to come to a book 14:09 that was written by Jeremiah, 14:11 therefore it's an extension of the Book of Jeremiah. 14:14 It's the next book it's a book of Lamentations. 14:18 Don't read it when you are depressed, Lamentations, 14:22 because it's the Lamentations of Jeremiah 14:25 concerning the destruction of the city of Jerusalem 14:30 with blood and horror and famine and misery. 14:35 If you come to Lamentations 14:38 and onwards, 14:43 Lamentations written by Jeremiah, 14:47 his lamentation concerning the sins of the people. 14:52 Verse 17, "I have been deprived of peace, 14:57 I have forgotten what prosperity is. 15:00 So I say, 'My splendor is gone 15:03 and all that I had hoped from the Lord.' 15:06 I remember my affliction and my wandering, 15:08 the bitterness and the gall. 15:12 I well remember them 15:13 and my soul is downcast within me. 15:17 Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope, 15:23 because of the Lord's great love 15:26 we are not consumed, for his compassion never fail. 15:32 They are new every morning, great is thy faithfulness." 15:42 Listen to this, God is faithful 15:49 because God is loving. 15:53 Jeremiah wrote in the midst to suffering, God cares. 16:00 But how can God care when He is in heaven 16:04 and I'm on the earth, that is the question. 16:09 I would read to you today if I had time 16:14 a most excellent statement from this book, 16:18 "The Cross of Christ" by John Stott. 16:21 Everybody got to read it. 16:25 The cross of Christ, the greatest argument 16:30 that God loves me my friend, 16:33 is the cross of Christ. 16:40 How do I know God cares for me? 16:43 How do I know that He's not a benevolent grandpa 16:47 a billion light years away? 16:50 How do I know whether He's not taking a nap? 16:57 Because in the person of Jesus He became a man, 17:02 God became a man. 17:04 This is the doctrine of the incarnation. 17:07 God became a man. 17:13 And He became a man, who suffered, 17:16 who was slighted, who was insulted, 17:21 who was betrayed by His disciple. 17:27 Who was crucified by the Romans, 17:32 who recedes Him at the hands 17:35 of His own brothers and sisters the Jews. 17:41 On the cross, 17:43 He tasted the pain of every person 17:47 who had ever lived. 17:50 He tasted the pain of cancer and loneliness 17:55 and heartache and suffering and rejection so 18:02 He knows, He cares. 18:10 Does God care about my pain? 18:13 The cross of Christ proves He cares. 18:16 If you go to Gethsemane 18:18 you'll find there that is outside 18:20 of course Jerusalem today. 18:24 You'll find that our dearly beloved 18:26 Roman Catholic friends have left a pot there. 18:30 And it has a poem 18:32 and I have forgotten the poem except for 18:35 of these few words that say, 18:37 although we do not understand You, we trust You. 18:44 We cannot understand with our finite minds 18:48 the infinite mind of God except 18:52 that we know He is good and He is compassionate great, 18:58 He's your faithfulness. 19:02 And so because He became a man 19:05 even though we do not understand Him fully, 19:11 we can trust Him fully. 19:17 So let me say this plainly, God cares about suffering, 19:23 He cares about the widows in Iraq, 19:26 the victims of war, 19:29 He cares about the children of Chernobyl, 19:32 the family that lost their home He cares, 19:37 He cares about the person who lost his job 19:41 and the soldier back from Afghanistan 19:44 who lost his legs. 19:49 So the first point I want you to get in your minds today 19:53 is that God is infinite in wisdom 19:56 but He's infinite in love, He cares for you, 20:00 He loves you, He cares for you. 20:02 The cross of Christ proves that He loves you. 20:09 He has you on His mind, 20:14 but, but, 20:19 there is another side to Gods caring, 20:23 not only is He loving, He is holy. 20:28 There are two great attributes to the character of God, 20:31 He is love but He is holy 20:38 and cannot tolerate evil. 20:42 And that's the major theme of the Book of Jeremiah, 20:45 when we are not all together comfortable with 20:54 God cares about the world, how we live and what we do. 21:01 The Book of Jeremiah, 21:02 I read it through many times the last few weeks, 21:05 reads like a report on current affairs in America. 21:11 It is totally and absolutely relevant. 21:16 Listen, the Book of Jeremiah was written about 21:23 God's chosen special nation, Israel. 21:29 We in America would like to think of ourselves 21:32 as distinct from all the other nations in the world. 21:37 We call it American exceptionalism. 21:42 Ronald Reagan summed it up when he said 21:44 America was a shining city on a hill 21:55 so was Israel. 21:59 Jeremiah is totally relevant because it almost seems 22:03 He is describing our times. 22:06 Therefore I want you to notice 22:08 what was happening to the people of God back there 22:11 and relate it to what is happening today in America 22:15 and in the church and in the world. 22:18 Would you please? 22:20 I want you to come now to Jeremiah 2:11-13, 22:26 Jeremiah 2:11-13 here we are talking about 22:33 the chosen nation, the city on a hill. 22:40 "'Has a nation ever changed its Gods? 22:44 Yet they are not Gods at all. 22:46 But my people have exchanged their glory for worthless idols. 22:50 Be appalled at this, O heavens, 22:52 and shudder with great horror,' declares the Lord. 22:55 'My people have committed two sins, 23:00 they have forsaken me, the spring of living water, 23:03 and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns 23:09 that cannot hold water.' 23:13 " There was a great apostasy in the land of Israel, 23:19 they gave up the truth of God, 23:23 the truth of a Word of God. 23:28 They got rid of God's cistern 23:31 and they made themselves their own cistern. 23:36 They forsook the way of God's word 23:40 and they substituted their own religion. 23:44 Now my friend, you will get hopefully soon this magazine 23:50 if you're on our mailing list. 23:52 Its 56 pages its glossy, it's got great stories in it, 23:57 it's called Ebenezer. 24:01 If you want to know what Ebenezer 24:03 means look up your Bible. 24:05 It is a Carter report magazine of understanding 24:09 inside can bad be good, nothing too hard for God. 24:16 It tells amazing stories, science of the times, 24:20 my warning from the pope. 24:23 Did he give me a warning? 24:24 Absolutely, yes, he sent a warning to me. 24:29 Why they buried the bishop on the sidewalk? 24:33 It is a story of how the bishop was buried on the sidewalk. 24:37 The bishop who said we would never ever preach 24:39 in the city of Kiev it's in here. 24:44 Miracle in a communist prism, 24:46 plus articles Facebook refuses to advertise. 24:51 I have an article here on political correctness 24:55 and the new taught police 24:57 I have an article on what is happening in America 25:03 where people are taking away our freedom of speech. 25:10 You see, now, you need to get this 25:12 and you need to write to me if your not on my mailing list, 25:15 if you write to me, we will send you a copy. 25:19 Now, I want to read to you from a man 25:21 whom I have appreciated and respected for years. 25:26 Dr. Billy Graham calls for national repentance. 25:32 World famous evangelist Dr. Billy Graham 25:35 warns that the nation faces increasing threats to civil 25:40 and religious liberties from its government. 25:47 He also commented regardless of what society says, 25:52 we cannot go on much longer in the sea of immorality 25:58 without judgment coming, the return of Christ is near. 26:04 The 95 year old preacher adds our early fathers 26:09 lead our nation according to Bible principles 26:13 our country is turning away form what made it so great. 26:20 The human heart can only be changed by the power of God. 26:26 And a person of course who believes exactly the same 26:29 is this person here Dr. Ben Carson. 26:34 Who said it so at the National Prayer Breakfast, 26:37 he said we are turning away from the Word of God 26:44 and we are drowning in the sea of immorality. 26:50 We have forsaken the spring of everlasting life. 26:54 We have got rid of God's system 26:57 and we are making systems of our own. 27:02 Great changes are taking place in America, 27:06 are you aware of these things? 27:09 Pastor Rick Warren, another man 27:11 whom I appreciate was being interviewed 27:13 by the Englishmen, Piers Morgan, 27:16 who personally I like, 27:17 I think he's one of the greatest of all interviewers. 27:20 They were talking about many subjects but then, 27:24 Rick Warren talked to him about same sex marriage 27:27 and he said, why do you still say that 27:30 marriage is between a man and a woman? 27:33 He said, America is changing, 27:35 most Americans no longer believe like you do, pastor Warren. 27:41 He said, don't you think 27:43 it is time to change the Bible? 27:49 I appreciated big man Rick Warren 27:52 who looked him in the eye and he said this, 27:55 we do not have the authority 27:58 to tamper with the Word of God. 28:03 But I want to tell you folks, something today, 28:06 there are lots of churches and lots of people 28:09 who are changing the Word of God 28:12 but I want them to know something, 28:14 judgment is coming. 28:16 Now, come over here to Jeremiah 36, 28:20 you got to read this book through, it's pretty heavy 28:22 but you got to read it through it will do you good. 28:26 Jeremiah 36:20-24, 28:30 "After they put the scroll in the room of 28:34 Elishama the secretary, 28:37 they went to the king in the courtyard 28:38 and reported everything to him. 28:41 The king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, 28:44 and Jehudi brought it from the room." 28:47 So forth, then he reads it to the king. 28:50 Come down to verse 22, "It was the ninth month 28:52 and the king was sitting in the winter apartment 28:56 with a fire burning in the firepot in front of him. 28:59 When Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll." 29:03 The Word of God, by Jeremiah. 29:07 "The king cut them off with a scribe's knife 29:10 and threw them into the firepot, 29:14 until the entire scroll was burned in the fire." 29:19 Verse 24, "The king and all his attendants 29:22 who heard all these things showed no fear, 29:25 nor did they tear their clothes." 29:29 I want to tell you folks, something 29:30 and I want to say to the people watching 29:33 across this great country and around the world. 29:38 Today, people are making war against the Word of the Lord 29:44 and they don't fear. 29:47 They say we're going to do what we want to do 29:50 and we are going to force you to follow us. 29:58 The Judgment is coming. 30:00 The other night 30:02 I was listening to Richard Dawkins, 30:05 again in a debate in which he got completely beaten, 30:09 debating an old Christian from Oxford University. 30:13 Richard Dawkins says, we are all here by blind chance. 30:19 There is no God, 30:20 the universe was made by itself and nothing there. 30:25 We are here simply 30:27 we are a product of time plus matter plus chance. 30:33 And this is the new atheism 30:37 it is permeating every American university. 30:43 Almost every common trader, 30:48 almost with one notable exception, here in America, 30:52 almost every television outlet run by people 30:58 who despise the Word of the Lord they're humanists. 31:06 They believe that man is a measurable things. 31:11 I listen to a talk 31:13 that everybody got to try to get. 31:16 You can try to find it on the internet 31:19 but a talk by the great Schaeffer. 31:23 Francis Schaeffer you never read his books, 31:25 you are to read them. 31:27 "The God Who Is There" by Francis Schaeffer 31:31 you can go to a bookstore and get it, 31:33 The God Who Is There, he gave this talk 30 years ago 31:38 in Dr. Canady's church and he said, 31:41 there are things happening today in America 31:45 that you're not going to believe. 31:48 He said, the humanist have taken over. 31:52 And therefore the country is no longer 31:57 being guided by the faith of her fathers. 32:02 And tremendous changes are going to happen in America 32:07 and Christians he said 30 years ago 32:10 are going to be persecuted because of their faith. 32:16 Would you come over here it's starting to happen. 32:19 Come over here, to Jeremiah Chapter 5, 32:22 Jeremiah 5:30, 31 and I can't understand 32:28 how people who call themselves 32:30 Adventist can be so lackadaisical. 32:34 They don't seem to have any fire in their bones. 32:37 I thank God for 3ABN and some other of these outlets. 32:41 Look at Jeremiah 5:30, 32:45 "A horrible and shocking thing has happened in the land, 32:49 the prophets prophesy lies, 32:51 the priests rule by their own authority, 32:53 and my people love it this way." 32:56 And here is the text, 32:57 "But what will you do in the end?" 33:02 I want to say this to you 33:03 and everybody watching the telecast, 33:06 you can get away from biblical marriage, 33:08 you can get away from the word of the Lord, 33:11 you can despise the Church, 33:13 but what will you do in the end? 33:16 That's the word. 33:18 What will you do in the end? 33:22 The Bible spoke about false prophets 33:24 who deceive the people, who are willing to be deceived. 33:28 What about you? 33:29 Are you willing to be deceived? 33:30 I think some of you are. 33:33 How do you know the Lord for yourself? 33:35 Look at Jeremiah 6:13 and onwards, 33:39 "From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain, 33:43 prophets and priests alike all practice deceit. 33:46 They dress the wound of my people 33:47 as though it were not serious. 33:50 Peace, peace, they say, when there is no peace. 33:53 Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? 33:55 No, they have no shame at all, 33:58 they do not even know how to blush." 34:01 Come down to verse 16, 34:02 "This is what the Lord says, 34:03 'Stand at the crossroads and look, 34:06 ask for the ancient paths, 34:08 ask where the good way is, and walk in it, 34:11 and you will find rest for your souls.'" 34:14 I want to say to every person here today, 34:17 we've heard a great deal about changing America, 34:21 but the question is what do we want to change? 34:26 Do we want to change the faith of fathers? 34:31 The Bible says, look for the old ways 34:34 and return to the old ways 34:38 and there you will find rest to your souls. 34:40 But the Bible says, the children of Israel 34:43 sit no way smarter than you are. 34:46 I noticed today 34:47 that many churches are starting to cave. 34:51 There are some churches that are standing up for God 34:54 and they are saying, no, no, no 34:56 we will not badge from old ways 34:58 but other churches are saying, no, we're going to change. 35:05 Today we're seeing the rejection 35:07 of two God-ordained institutions that came from paradise. 35:12 The first one is the Sabbath. 35:14 Come over here 35:18 and onwards to your hearts and gentle people. 35:20 Jeremiah 17:21 and onwards please 35:24 and notice this in the Word of the Lord. 35:27 "This is what the Lord says, 35:28 be careful not to carry a load on the Sabbath day 35:31 or bring it through the gates of Jerusalem. 35:34 Do not bring a load out of your houses 35:36 or do any work on the Sabbath, 35:37 but keep the Sabbath day holy, 35:39 as I commanded your forefathers. 35:41 Yet they did not listen 35:42 or pay attention, they were stiff-necked 35:44 and would not listen or respond to discipline. 35:47 But if you are careful to obey me, 35:49 declares the Lord, and bring no load 35:52 through the gates of this city on the Sabbath, 35:54 but keep the Sabbath day holy by not doing any work on it, 35:58 then kings who sit on David's throne will come 36:00 through the gates of this city with their officials. 36:02 They and their officials will come riding in chariots 36:05 and on horses, accompanied by the men of Judah 36:07 and those living in Jerusalem, 36:09 and this city will be inhabited forever. 36:12 People will come form the towns of Judah 36:14 and the villages around Jerusalem, 36:16 from the territory of Benjamin 36:17 and the western foothills, from the territory of country 36:20 and the Negev, bringing burnt offerings 36:22 and sacrifices, grain offerings, incense 36:25 and thank offerings to the house of the Lord. 36:27 But of you do not obey me 36:28 to keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying any load 36:31 as you come through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, 36:34 then I will kindle an unquenchable fire 36:37 in the gates of the Jerusalem 36:38 that will consume her fortresses." 36:41 Jerusalem was destroyed, 36:42 the children of Israel went into captivity 36:44 for doing the same sins that we are doing today 36:47 and one of those major sins is the breaking of the Sabbath. 36:51 The greatest theologian possibly of the 20th century, 36:56 Karl Barth one of his books, 36:58 Dogmatics quotes an authority 37:01 who said these words, I've said these words 37:03 before I have quoted Karl Barth 37:05 and I want you to hear it. 37:07 He said, "When the holy day becomes the day of man, 37:14 society and humanity wither away and the demons rule." 37:22 Now you said I just don't turn them, yeah, 37:25 what will you do in the end? 37:28 When the holy day becomes the day of mans, 37:31 society and humanity wither away and the demons rule. 37:36 They're ruling today in America. 37:38 Was America a better place when people went to church? 37:43 I live in a street where everybody 37:45 calls himself a Christian nobody goes to church. 37:48 Once upon a people-- 37:50 once upon a time people went to church 37:51 and they thought they were keeping the Sabbath 37:53 and they kept Sunday. 37:55 Were they better people? Absolutely. 37:59 But today everything is gone by the board 38:02 and we have hewn cisterns that don't hold water. 38:08 National apostasy will be followed by national ruin, 38:14 Ellen White said and the churches are caving. 38:18 The Second institution 38:20 that came out of the Garden of Eden was marriage. 38:25 Marriage between man and a woman, 38:30 this is a word of the Lord. 38:35 I heard smart guy on television 38:39 with a preacher he said, answer me this, yes or no. 38:44 Did Jesus ever condemn homosexual act, 38:49 yes or no? 38:53 I wish I had been there, 38:56 because I would have answered that question 38:58 with another question. 38:59 Have you stopped beating your wife yet? 39:04 Have you stopped beating your wife yet? 39:06 Can you answer that with the yes or no? 39:08 Well, if you say yes, 39:09 it means you've been beating your wife, 39:11 if you say no your still beating her. 39:16 Come on now, 39:20 but that preacher was smart enough to say, 39:23 Jesus said and he is quoting Matthew 19, in the beginning 39:28 God made them male and female 39:33 and for this reason a man will leave his father 39:37 and his wife and be united to his wife 39:41 and they will become one flesh, 39:42 that's what Jesus said. 39:48 But there are preachers who are caving, 39:51 they're giving up, they're running away. 39:54 Let me say this to you. 39:56 Don't give in the-- give into the bullies 40:00 who want to intimidate you. 40:05 People are just caving they're so weak. 40:09 I like the attitude of those Roman Catholic nuns 40:13 are they the little sisters of mercy, 40:16 you say well, I don't believe with that, 40:17 and we are not talking about that. 40:19 I like their attitude 40:21 when they said, no, no, no and they stood up 40:25 to the mighty federal government. 40:30 And they are not gonna be robbed. 40:34 You can close us down they said 40:36 but we ain't gonna sign no paper. 40:44 Don't be intimidated by the bullies. 40:50 Israel was guilty of the worship of other Gods. 40:53 God's people worshiping other Gods. 40:56 Come over here to Jeremiah 7:16-18, 41:00 Jeremiah 7, 41:01 see I'm just taking a bit out of Jeremiah, 41:04 can't explain all this book in a few minutes. 41:07 Jeremiah 7:16-18, 41:11 "The children gather wood, the father light the fire, 41:13 and the women knead the dough 41:15 and make cakes of bread for the Queen of Heaven. 41:18 They pour out drink offering to other Gods 41:21 to provoke me to anger." 41:23 So God is capable of getting angry. 41:27 It was a great turning from God 41:29 and the worshiping of other Gods. 41:32 Listen to me my American friends, and listen up, 41:35 whatever we put in the place of God 41:37 or put before God is a false God, 41:40 today people worship money, 41:44 money, possessions, material idols 41:49 we even have a television show American Idol. 41:53 People say it's funny, 41:55 that's because they're idolatries, idolatry. 41:59 There is a great emptiness 42:01 among people today Saint Augustine said 42:03 "As souls were made for God 42:05 they cannot rest until they rest in Him." 42:07 And so today there's a great vacuum. 42:11 Got to have the latest gadget, materialism, 42:14 the restless wish you had more things. 42:16 What do you want? More. 42:22 God is Holy and He cares about you, how we think, 42:28 what we do and whom we worship. 42:30 That is why the first angles message says, "Worship Him 42:34 who made the heavens and the earth, 42:38 sea and the springs of water." 42:40 I'm not called to worship the government, 42:44 I'm not called first 42:45 and foremost to be an American, 42:49 I'm called to worship Christ. 42:53 Christ first, and last and best in everything, 42:58 and the best citizens of people 42:59 who believe that because God is holy, 43:05 He is our necessity our God of judgment. 43:11 Would you come to Jeremiah 25, Jeremiah 25:15-18, 43:18 "This is what the Lord, the God of Israel said to me, 43:22 'Take from my hand this cup filled with the wine of my wrath 43:27 and make all the nations to whom I send you drink it, 43:30 when they drink it they will stagger and go mad 43:33 because of the sword I will send among them.' 43:36 " Judgment is coming. 43:38 Look at verse 30 and onwards, 43:40 "Now prophesy all these words against them and say to them, 43:43 'The Lord will roar from on high, 43:45 he will thunder from his holy dwelling 43:48 and roar mightily against his land. 43:50 He will shout like those who tread the grapes, 43:53 shout against all those who live on the earth. 43:56 The tumult will resound to the ends of the earth, 43:59 for the Lord will bring charges against the nations, 44:03 he will bring judgment on all mankind 44:05 and put the wicked to the sword.' 44:08 This is what the Lord almighty says, 'Look! 44:10 Disaster is spreading from nation to nation 44:13 a mighty storm is rising from the ends of the earth.'" 44:19 Listen to me, 44:23 God Is not of a benevolent grandpa. 44:27 He is not an oversized teddy bear. 44:33 God is a holy almighty God 44:39 and He has the capacity of anger. 44:42 You say no, no, no. 44:44 Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. 44:47 I listened to a sermon by Pastor Charles Stanley 44:50 on American television, he said, 44:53 God has had His hand over America, 44:55 do you believe that? 44:57 He said during the Second World War 44:59 we were unprepared, 45:01 God had His hand over America. 45:06 When we are attacked at Pearl Harbor, 45:09 unfortunately the aircraft carries right to see 45:12 God had His hand over America. 45:15 Pastor Stanley said, that hand is being removed 45:20 and as the hand of God is removed 45:23 from this great nation my friend, 45:26 we will be naked before our enemies. 45:32 Jefferson said, I tremble for my country, 45:38 when I recognize that God is just 45:41 and justice cannot sleep forever. 45:45 From this magazine Ebenezer, 45:47 there is a article answering 45:50 Hilary Clinton on same sex marriage. 45:54 Of course the politicians will say anything 45:56 they need to say to get elected 45:58 at least many of them will. 46:00 But there's an article I've written here 46:02 that you are to get, here it is, here it is. 46:04 When demons invade planet earth, 46:10 "Even now, the world is being prepared 46:12 for a demonic take over. 46:14 The rejection of God's Word, His holy law, 46:17 and the institutions of marriage and the Sabbath, 46:20 all set the stage for the last drama." 46:24 The Bible says, as the nations reject 46:28 the word of the Lord, judgment will come. 46:38 Jeremiah was not popular with the government, 46:42 the priests, his church, 46:45 the false prophets, all the people. 46:47 You know what they did to Jeremiah? 46:49 After he preached the word of the Lord they got him 46:51 and they throw him into a filthy dungier 46:55 and he sank down under his armpits 46:58 in a filthy mere they said, 47:01 you can read it in Jeremiah. 47:03 We will not tolerate his preaching. 47:07 They said he's even preaching against the government, 47:10 he's preaching against Jerusalem, 47:12 he is preaching against their sanctuary, 47:15 he is preaching against their king. 47:23 The day will come, as Billy Graham said, 47:29 God's people will be persecuted 47:32 because they preach the word of the Lord. 47:36 But as Margaret Thatcher said, 47:38 when she was facing the enemy, 47:40 this woman is not the turning. 47:46 Neither should we be. 47:51 God never calls cowards. 47:56 But I want to tell you folks, 47:57 something Jerusalem was destroyed, 48:00 completely ravaged by Nebuchadnezzar 48:04 but Jeremiah was saved. 48:09 So back to the question, does God care? 48:12 Of course He does, 48:14 because He is love, because He is holy. 48:19 The Bible teaches, 48:20 not have too much time to tell you this. 48:25 The God is preparing a New Jerusalem 48:29 that all Jerusalem went down with fire 48:33 because the people have forsaken the Lord. 48:41 If God is going to have true people, 48:45 and they're going to have a city called the New Jerusalem. 48:50 I want to go there what about you? 48:53 Look at Revelation 21:1-5. 48:56 My friend, we're living in a tremendous time. 48:58 What a time to be preaching. 48:59 I can't understand why every preacher 49:03 in and out running evangelistic 49:04 campaigns and preaching. 49:08 I guess, maybe they just don't believe 49:11 as I ought to believe. 49:13 "Then I saw a new heaven 49:14 and a new earth for the first heaven 49:16 and the first earth had passed away, 49:17 and there was no longer any sea. 49:19 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, 49:23 coming down out of heaven from God, 49:26 prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband." 49:30 God says, I am here now and I'm with you. 49:34 How beautiful. 49:35 "They will be his people, 49:37 and God himself will be with them and be their God. 49:41 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. 49:43 There will be no more death 49:45 or mourning or crying or pain, 49:48 for the old order of things has passed away." 49:55 At the end of the storm, there's a beautiful day. 50:03 There's a beautiful place. 50:04 Is it worth to struggle? It sure is. 50:07 Is it a struggle? It sure is. 50:09 It's so easy to give into the complacency 50:13 and to get into your miserable little comfort zone. 50:15 I would say, oh, I just don't want to be disturbed. 50:22 That's apostasy. 50:25 But God is going to have a people, pride and true. 50:35 I sometimes listen to the Gaytheist. 50:38 I heard a man sing this song I liked it. 50:42 It's my head. 50:43 You know, you get a song in your head, 50:44 you can't get it out. 50:47 It's like the man said, 50:48 "Don't think of the little red monkey 50:49 when you're trying to make gold." 50:51 So we know what he thought of, don't you? 50:53 Little red monkey all the time. 50:58 I have returned to the God of my childhood, 51:01 to the same simple faith as a child I once knew. 51:06 Like the prodigal son I long for my loved ones 51:10 for the comforts of home and the God I outgrew. 51:16 I have returned to the God my childhood. 51:19 Bethlehem's Babe, the prophet's Messiah. 51:23 He's Jesus to me, eternal deity. 51:27 Praise His name, I have returned. 51:31 I have returned to the God of my mother 51:35 with unfailing faith for the child of her heart. 51:39 She said bring them up the way that you want them. 51:42 Thank God when they grown they'll never depart. 51:47 I have returned to the God of my mother. 51:50 I learned that her knee is the lily of the valley. 51:55 He's Jesus to me eternal deity. 51:59 Praise His name, I have returned. 52:04 I have returned to the God of my father, 52:08 the most God-like man a child could know. 52:11 I just heard a shout from the angels in glory, 52:15 praising the Lord a Child has come home. 52:20 I have returned to the God of my father, 52:24 Creator of heaven and earth God of the universe. 52:29 He's Jesus to me eternal deity. 52:34 Praise His name, I have returned. 52:39 I have returned to the Yahweh of Judah. 52:44 On my knees I did fall where the wall now stands. 52:48 This lesson I learned 52:50 as I've worked my way homeward. 52:53 The Savior of all is a comfort to man. 52:57 I have returned to the Father of Abraham. 53:03 The shepherd of Moses who called Him, great I am. 53:10 He's Jesus to me eternal deity. 53:15 Praise His name, I have returned. 53:23 What about you? 53:26 It's time for us to return to the God of our fathers. 53:34 The God of our mothers, 53:35 I say this to Americans 53:37 it's time for you to stop being Americans again. 53:42 Return to the God of the Pilgrim Fathers. 53:46 It's time for us who ever we are, 53:48 wherever we are to return to Christ 53:53 and the word of the Lord. 53:56 Please kneel. 54:07 Our Father in heaven, 54:08 we thank You for the word of the Lord. 54:13 We thank You for the word of the Lord 54:15 that still speaks to us today. 54:18 And Father, most of us are like the ancient children of Israel. 54:23 We worship other Gods, 54:26 we fume out cisterns manmade ones 54:30 and they are broken they are not holding water. 54:34 Many of us have forsaken the truths of the Sabbath 54:38 because it's too hard for us. 54:40 We'd rather be at Macy's or Las Vegas 54:43 rather be shopping or sleeping. 54:47 Many of us still Father, 54:48 attempted to give up the truth of marriage 54:51 and to be brain washed by these people 54:54 with these insidious agendas. 54:59 Our Father, into our heart 55:02 give us a Holy Spirit borne conviction 55:07 to return to the Bible, Word of God 55:12 and to Christ as Savior. 55:15 As we're praying here today 55:17 on our knees with every head bowed, 55:20 every eye closed in the presence of our Father. 55:24 How many will raise a hand and say, 55:28 by God's grace 55:31 I will return to the old ways, 55:37 the good ways, God's way. 55:41 Would you raise your hand if that as you prayer today 55:44 I have returned, my Father, 55:48 I'm getting back, I'm going back. 55:53 I'm going to stand fast, I'm weak, I can't do it 56:00 but You can so do it through me. 56:05 Bless this church today dear Father, with a new vision. 56:13 Might be a vision of preaching 56:18 the message of God in a greater way 56:22 because of the times in which we live. 56:24 Bless these precious people 56:27 and cover them with the blood of Jesus. 56:30 We worship You, bless You, thank You and praise You. 56:33 Give You glory in Jesus name, amen and amen. 56:43 I'll shout it while eternity rolls 56:52 Oh, He touched me 56:59 Oh, He touched me 57:08 And oh, the joy that floods my soul 57:21 Something, something happened and now I know 57:34 He touched me and made me whole 57:45 Oh, He made me whole |
