00:04 The Carter Report presents Plain Talk with John Carter.
00:16 Hello, friend. I'm John Carter.
00:19 Welcome to the Carter Report.
00:21 And this is a new presentation, we're calling it Plain Talk.
00:28 Around the world in Australia, America,
00:31 The Caribbean, even into Saudi Arabia,
00:35 we have questions and people want plain answers.
00:39 And today, we're planning to give some plain talk about
00:43 some of the big questions you've been asking.
00:48 God has His time and His place for everything.
00:53 And the time and the place now is Latin America,
00:58 including Cuba.
01:01 Time Magazine talks about
01:03 the Second Protestant Reformation
01:06 and describes how hundreds of thousands,
01:09 even millions of Latinos
01:12 are coming to the gospel of Christ.
01:16 I'm not an armchair theologian.
01:18 I'm speaking according to experience.
01:21 I've seen it with my own eyes.
01:25 Recently, we went down to El Salvador.
01:29 There I spoke in the largest football stadium
01:32 in Central America with the biggest crowd
01:35 that that football stadium had ever, ever seen.
01:39 They came not to see a football match,
01:42 but to hear about the blood of Christ.
01:45 Millions are coming to a knowledge of God
01:49 in Latin America.
01:51 Doors are opening in Cuba.
01:54 Who knows, we may be going to Cuba soon.
01:58 As the doors open by the grace of God,
02:01 we are going to step through those doors.
02:05 And we want you to step through those doors with us
02:09 and be part of our team for such a time as this.
02:13 Please write to me, friend. Don't put it off.
02:16 Write to me, John Carter, Post Office Box 1900,
02:21 Thousand Oaks, California, 91358.
02:25 In Australia, write to me at Terrigal, New South Wales.
02:30 Be part of the Second Reformation,
02:34 join us and see the miracles of God.
02:38 Amen.
02:49 Why is the Muslim religion growing so fast?
02:53 And should Americans ban the building of mosques?
02:56 If you start banning the building of mosques,
03:00 what are you gonna do next?
03:01 Are you going to ban the building
03:03 of synagogues and churches?
03:07 Here, in the United states of America,
03:08 and in Australia, and in Britain,
03:11 and in the best parts of the world
03:14 people believe in religious freedom.
03:16 We believe we have the right to worship God
03:19 or not to worship God as our consciences tell us.
03:25 Then why is the Muslim faith growing so fast?
03:29 It's because many of them take their religion seriously.
03:33 In the western world, Christianity is marching,
03:38 but marching backwards.
03:40 And the Muslims are going ahead.
03:44 I went to Sydney recently, and when I got off the plane
03:48 and went out to get a taxi, the taxi driver
03:51 was so courteous and so nice to me.
03:54 And then he started to talk to me about the Bible,
03:57 and then he started to talk to me,
03:59 "Would you believe it, about the Quran?"
04:02 He was a Muslim.
04:03 And before I left his taxi, he gave me some DVDs.
04:08 He said, "I know you're a Christian.
04:10 But one day, I want to see you in heaven.
04:14 And we Muslims want to get to heaven too.
04:17 He was an evangelist for the Muslims.
04:21 Then, when I was in Sydney, walking around that
04:23 magnificent city, I didn't see
04:26 too much of a presence of the Christian church.
04:29 Many of the churches seem to have closed down.
04:32 But the Muslims are going ahead because they've got a mission.
04:37 Now, Jesus told us that we've got a mission too.
04:41 Jesus said, "Go into all the world
04:44 and preach the gospel."
04:46 That is why the Carter Report believes in evangelism.
04:53 So why do you believe that the Bible is true?
04:56 I believe that the Bible is true
05:00 not because of blind faith.
05:02 I don't believe in having blind faith.
05:06 I don't believe in having faith in faith.
05:11 There are many reasons why I believe that this book,
05:15 the Bible, the book of books is true.
05:19 It is a book of prophecy.
05:22 I have studied the prophecies for about 50 years.
05:26 I've studied the prophecy of Daniel 2.
05:29 In just a few words, it foretold the history
05:34 of the human race.
05:35 Try reading it.
05:37 Daniel 7, the history of the world
05:39 and the rise of the antichrist.
05:42 Prophecy proves that the Bible is true.
05:47 Daniel Chapter 9 tells about the coming of the Messiah.
05:51 It predicted the very, very year
05:55 when the Messiah would appear in the world.
05:58 It say's the Messiah would come so many years
06:02 after a certain decree by a Persian king.
06:05 The Messiah came in 27AD, that's when Jesus was baptized.
06:12 And Jesus died about three years after 27AD,
06:17 when he was crucified on the cross.
06:20 All of these great events were foretold
06:23 through the prophecies of the Bible.
06:26 Then there is another tremendous proof,
06:29 and that is the person of Jesus Christ.
06:32 There is no person like him.
06:34 The Bible talks about God becoming a man,
06:38 a Jewish man, dying for our sins
06:42 on the cross, and being raised from the dead.
06:46 This is beyond human comprehension.
06:49 The Bible is a divinely inspired book.
06:54 And there is another reason.
06:57 The Bible has the ability to change human lives.
07:01 I've seen it around the world.
07:04 The best countries in the world
07:06 are those countries that believe in the Bible.
07:10 Wherever the Bible goes, it brings freedom,
07:14 peace, prosperity, and good health.
07:19 Jesus said, "It is written,
07:22 'Man shall not live by bread alone,
07:25 but by every word
07:27 that precedes out of the mouth of God.'"
07:30 This is the Word of God.
07:34 Are you not a bigot because you oppose
07:37 same sex marriage?
07:39 Well, I guess, some people would say,
07:41 I'm a bigot because I'm a Christian.
07:44 Some people would say, I'm a bigot
07:46 because I believe in this book, the Bible.
07:50 Other people would say, I'm a bigot
07:53 because I believe in freedom of speech
07:56 and freedom of religion.
08:00 I believe that every person has the right to be
08:04 what he wants to be, as long as it doesn't hurt me of course,
08:09 because your freedom ends
08:11 where the end of my nose begins.
08:16 I believe people, if a person wants to be
08:18 a homosexual, that's his right.
08:22 But I've got the right to be what I believe I ought to be.
08:27 I've got the right to believe the Bible.
08:30 You see, I believe in freedom of speech.
08:34 Freedom of speech is not bigotry.
08:38 And if a person has a problem with freedom of speech,
08:43 may be it's because he's a bigot.
08:47 I want to read you something that Jesus said.
08:50 And I think, if my memory is working today,
08:54 I'm going to come in the Bible,
08:55 in Matthew Chapter 19.
09:02 These are the words of Jesus. And Jesus was not a bigot.
09:08 Jesus said, "'Haven't you read,'
09:10 he replied, 'that at the beginning
09:13 the Creator made them male and female,
09:17 and said, For this reason a man will leave his father
09:22 and his mother and be united to his wife...'"
09:26 You see, if I'm going to be called a bigot
09:30 because I believe in Jesus, then so be it.
09:34 The Bible teaches that a marriage
09:37 is between a man and a woman.
09:42 You've got the right to believe
09:44 in homosexual practices, if you so choose.
09:49 That is your right.
09:51 I'm not going to call you a bigot.
09:53 Don't call me a bigot because I'm a Christian,
09:58 and I believe in the Bible,
10:00 and I believe in freedom of speech.
10:06 Atheism in America
10:08 is one of the fastest growing religions.
10:10 Why is this so? Is atheism even scientific?
10:14 Atheism is not scientific.
10:17 You want some Plain Talk, here it is.
10:21 If you're going to be an honest atheist,
10:23 you got to say, "I've been to every spot
10:25 in the universe
10:27 and I discovered that God wasn't there.
10:29 An atheist says, "There is no God."
10:33 How on earth would he know that there is no God,
10:37 if he hasn't gone to every place
10:40 and didn't discover that God did not exist?
10:42 Therefore, it is not scientific.
10:45 But often atheism is a reaction against bad religion.
10:52 Are you listening to me? I've been to Russia 42 times.
10:56 I've seen what atheism did to the Russian soul.
11:00 Atheism destroyed the Russian people
11:03 and put to death millions and millions of people.
11:07 The religion in Russia, back in the days of czars
11:11 was a dreadful thing.
11:13 The priest persecuted the people.
11:16 And the problem is that the Russians
11:18 through the baby out with the bath water.
11:24 They got rid of God because of the bad religion.
11:29 What happened?
11:31 The deaths of millions and millions
11:34 of innocent people.
11:37 Why is it growing so fast in America?
11:40 Well, they say there is lot of bad religion over here,
11:43 but that's not a good reason to give up on God.
11:48 Now, there is another reason, and this is pretty penetrating,
11:52 what I'm going to say.
11:53 I don't say it
11:55 because I'm trying to offend you.
11:56 I'm just trying to give you some Plain Talk.
12:00 Huxley said, he was Darwin's great friend,
12:04 he said, "Now that I believe in atheism,
12:08 I'm free to do anything I want to do,
12:13 especially with women.
12:17 Atheism does away with moral restrains.
12:23 That's Plain Talk. It's true.
12:27 Many sociologists believe
12:29 that we are seeing a collapse of family
12:31 and society in many American cities
12:34 such as Baltimore.
12:36 What can be done to stop the destruction
12:38 of American society?
12:40 Get back to God, get back to the Bible,
12:43 and get back to the family.
12:46 When you don't have mums and dads bringing up kids,
12:51 when the fathers walk out on the family,
12:53 when the mothers walk out on the family,
12:56 you've only got hell that's going to follow.
12:59 What we're seeing in some of the American cities
13:01 including Baltimore is the collapse of the home
13:06 because of the collapse of faith in God.
13:12 The best societies in this world, my friend,
13:15 are those societies that truly believe in God
13:19 and they practice the teachings of Jesus Christ.
13:23 And they have good families.
13:26 The Catholics are absolutely correct
13:29 when they say, the family
13:31 that prays together
13:33 stays together.
13:41 Hi, I'm John Carter.
13:43 My wife, Beverley and I
13:45 were watching television the other night,
13:46 watching the news, American News.
13:49 They told us that the church in North America
13:51 is actually shrinking.
13:53 They said that atheism is the fastest growing
13:55 religious movement today in North America.
13:58 And people are saying, "What on earth
14:00 can we do to save the church."
14:02 Well, of course, Christ died for the church,
14:04 He saved the church.
14:05 But what I mean is, "How can we keep the church
14:08 as a vibrant force in the world today in Australia, in America,
14:12 and in Europe and in the rest of the world?"
14:14 Let me tell you a little story.
14:16 John Wesley was one of the greatest preachers
14:18 that the English speaking world has ever heard.
14:21 John Wesley came upon the scene of the,
14:24 of the church in England a few hundred years ago,
14:26 when the church was dying like the church today,
14:29 it was a shrinking church.
14:32 But the people in the church were in the state of denial.
14:34 They refused to accept the reality
14:37 that the church was dying.
14:38 John Wesley did something
14:40 that other people said couldn't be done.
14:42 He revived the church through public evangelism.
14:46 Did you hear that? He started to preach Christ.
14:49 He preached the Bible and he preached out of doors
14:52 and indoors and the church was saved.
14:55 Not only did he save a lot of souls,
14:58 the souls of sinners,
14:59 he saved the souls of the saints.
15:04 Please join me, my friend, in evangelism,
15:09 it's what Jesus did.
15:11 Write to me John Cater, Post Office Box 1900,
15:15 Thousand Oaks, California. In Australia,
15:18 write to me at the address on the screen at Terrigal,
15:21 in New South Wales.
15:23 Join me, my friend, in preaching Christ.
15:27 Join me in public evangelism around the world.
15:33 Thank you in Jesus' name.
15:42 I've been reading Hebrews 6:1-8 that indicates
15:47 that there is no hope for the believer
15:49 who turns away from God.
15:51 I feel totally discouraged. Is there no hope for me?
15:56 Yes, there is hope for you, my friend.
15:59 But let's read the passage that you're talking about
16:01 because it is quite frankly a bit of a difficult passage.
16:07 And I'm going to turn to Hebrews 6:4
16:12 and onwards the Bible says, "It is impossible for those
16:16 who have once been enlightened,
16:18 who have tasted the heavenly gift,
16:21 who have shared in the Holy Spirit,
16:24 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God
16:27 and the powers of the coming age,
16:31 if they fall away,
16:32 to be brought back to repentance.
16:35 Because to their loss they are crucifying
16:38 the Son of God all over again
16:42 and subjecting him to public disgrace."
16:46 The Bible says here and I can understand
16:49 why person have put in that question.
16:52 He's so concerned and so discouraged.
16:55 This text seems to say that, if you become a believer
16:59 and if you turn away from God,
17:01 you're lost and you're damned for ever.
17:06 And that person wrote to me and I got this on my iPad
17:11 and the question went on more and more,
17:14 we've just given you just a little bit of the question.
17:16 That the person said, a lady said
17:19 I feel just so discouraged,
17:21 I just feel like committing suicide.
17:24 But I want to tell you today, what this is talking about.
17:27 It's talking not about
17:29 just committing an ordinary sin,
17:32 but it's talking about committing
17:35 the unpardonable sin.
17:37 Okay, you want to know what the unpardonable sin is.
17:40 Well, let me see if I can find it here.
17:43 Matthew 12:31-32, Jesus says,
17:50 "So I tell you, every sin
17:53 and blasphemy will be forgiven men."
17:56 Hey, that's good news.
17:59 If you turn to God,
18:00 God will forgive the sin of murder,
18:03 adultery, fornication, lying and stealing
18:08 and being just a regular flake.
18:10 If you turn to God and if you repent of your sin,
18:14 God is going to forgive every sin, Jesus said it.
18:17 Jesus said, "I tell you, every sin
18:19 and blasphemy will be forgiven men.
18:22 But blasphemy against the spirit
18:25 will not be forgiven."
18:27 If you sin against the Holy Spirit,
18:28 the Bible says, it's all over.
18:31 Anyone who speaks against a word,
18:34 against the Son of Man will be forgiven,
18:38 but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit
18:40 will not be forgiven, either in this age
18:44 or in the age to come."
18:47 Jesus says, you can do this, you can do that,
18:52 you can murder, you can steal, you can fornicate.
18:57 You can do all of these dreadful sins,
18:59 but if you come to Christ in sincere repentance,
19:03 the blood of Jesus will wash away your sins.
19:07 Jesus said this, "If you sin against the Holy Spirit,
19:11 there's no forgiveness and that's what the writer
19:14 of Hebrews is talking about.
19:17 Now how do I sin against the Holy Spirit?
19:19 Well, the Holy Spirit is the third person,
19:21 it's Godhead.
19:22 And the Holy Spirit is sent from God
19:25 to convict me of my sins.
19:30 You see, I won't feel my need to repentance
19:33 until the Holy Spirit comes and convicts me of my sin.
19:40 And when the Holy Spirit talks to me,
19:42 the first time I hear him, I hear him
19:45 as though it were thunder in my ears.
19:48 He talks to me and I just can't get away
19:51 from his voice.
19:54 But if I keep saying no to God, no, no, no, no.
20:00 The voice of God will become softer,
20:03 and softer, and softer
20:06 because of the process of the hardening of my soul.
20:12 I can harden my heart.
20:14 That's why the Bible says, "Don't harden your hearts."
20:18 So the unpardonable sin is when a person hardens heart.
20:23 But listen to this, if you want to be saved.
20:28 If you still have a conscience, it shows that you can be saved.
20:36 You can be redeemed even if you've been
20:39 a member of the church.
20:41 And you've wandered from the God
20:42 and you've done some terrible things,
20:45 but if you come to God in sincere repentance
20:49 and listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit
20:53 and come to Christ, then my friend,
20:56 you will be saved.
21:00 What do you think of Pope Francis?
21:02 Do you see the day when we shall all unite
21:05 under the Catholic Church?
21:07 What do I think of Pope Francis?
21:09 Well, that's sort of putting me on the spot
21:11 because I personally don't know Pope Francis.
21:15 I only see Pope Francis on CNN, or Fox News,
21:19 or when I pick up Time magazine,
21:21 or something like that.
21:23 I don't know Pope Francis, but he seems to be
21:26 a sort of nice guy, doesn't he?
21:29 You know, I'm told, this what I'm told,
21:31 he drives a little car.
21:34 Smaller than my car, so he seems to be
21:37 rather humble sort of guy and when he became the pope,
21:41 the first thing he did, he went back to the hotel
21:43 where he had been staying and he paid his hotel bill.
21:47 He doesn't seem to be like a pontiff.
21:50 He seems to be a nicer guy.
21:54 Now, the, the Bible tells us that God has got a big family.
21:59 And I want you to hear what I'm going to say,
22:01 and not misunderstand this and not...
22:03 Because I'm just giving you some plain talk today.
22:06 I'm telling you what I believe the Bible teaches
22:09 and I'm just a plain man and I'm just giving you
22:12 some plain talk.
22:14 I believe that God has got a big family.
22:17 And that there are millions
22:19 of wonderful Roman Catholic Christians.
22:23 Some people say, "Oh, no.
22:24 My church, we're the only ones who're gonna be saved.
22:27 You are in for a big shock, my friend.
22:31 God has got a real big family.
22:35 And we had a person in my church
22:37 who said, this person was an amazing person,
22:41 wrote the book,
22:43 Great Controversy, Desire of Ages.
22:45 And this little old American lady said,
22:49 "The vast majority of God's children
22:53 are in the Protestant and the Catholic churches.
22:58 So as the pope says, "Who am I to judge,
23:02 when I'm talking about an individual?"
23:04 Does that mean that I believe in
23:06 what the pope teaches?
23:08 No, I don't believe in all those things.
23:11 I don't believe in his concept of the gospel.
23:14 I don't believe that Mary is in heaven.
23:17 I don't believe in praying to the saints.
23:20 I don't believe in an earthly priesthood.
23:23 Do I believe in the priesthood? I sure do.
23:26 But my priest is Jesus in heaven, my friend.
23:31 Do I see the day when the churches
23:32 are going to come together
23:34 and unite with the Catholic Church?
23:35 Absolutely.
23:37 I can see it happening right here
23:39 in the United States of America
23:41 because of political correctness.
23:44 And there's another reason, people are sort of dumb,
23:49 when it comes to the Bible.
23:53 There is a lot of ignorance concerning the Bible.
23:57 But I believe that because people
23:58 are very ignorant of the Bible,
24:03 they're just going to go way the wind is blowing.
24:06 And I believe, I believe that before the end of the world,
24:09 before Jesus comes, we are going to have
24:13 one big super amalgamation of religion.
24:18 And I've got a feeling
24:20 that the pope is going to be in charge of it.
24:23 That's plain talk.
24:26 Are you interested in conducting
24:27 an evangelistic campaign
24:30 in the biggest Muslim country in the world?
24:33 Oh, I'm interested in doing evangelism anywhere
24:36 that God opens the doors.
24:38 Now, I've run evangelistic campaigns before,
24:42 and I've spoken to lots of Muslims.
24:46 I've people who say to me,
24:47 "John Cater, you must be very naive
24:49 because that doesn't happen.
24:51 You can't, you can't run an evangelistic campaign
24:53 and you're not going to have Muslims coming."
24:55 Hey, I've had thousands coming.
24:58 In the city of Kazan, capital of Tatarstan,
25:03 we ran a great evangelistic campaign
25:05 in a great theater that seated about 7,000 people.
25:09 And then we had a baptism in front of the mosque.
25:14 In fact, the leader of the Muslim religion
25:18 told the people that I was a gift from God,
25:21 and to listen to what I was saying.
25:24 Because I was preaching the Bible,
25:26 and I was preaching against sin,
25:28 and I was preaching against alcoholism.
25:32 That's just one thing, I spoke out against.
25:34 And the Muslim said amen, where as all the Christians
25:37 in that city were invariably drunk.
25:42 So would I be prepared to run a campaign
25:44 in a Muslim city again?
25:46 Yes.
25:47 In the biggest Muslim country in the world?
25:49 Yes.
25:50 But if you want me to do it, you better be my partner
25:53 and send me some money,
25:55 so I can do what God has called us to do.
26:00 What is the second Protestant Reformation?
26:04 Oh, the second Protestant Reformation.
26:06 Well, do you know about
26:08 the first Protestant Reformation?
26:10 That was led by that German theologian
26:12 and priest, Martin Luther.
26:15 And Martin Luther believed in this.
26:17 Now, I better get this plainly.
26:19 He believed in "Sola Christus, only Christ.
26:22 Sola Scriptura, we believe in the Bible."
26:26 This is our authority, not the writings of the church.
26:31 Sola Gratia, only grace, Sola Fide, only faith.
26:35 And this gave birth to the great democracy.
26:37 That's why we've got an America,
26:40 that's why we've got an Australia,
26:42 that's why we've got the great Protestant countries
26:45 that are still today powerhouses in the world.
26:49 Now, the second Protestant Reformation,
26:54 well, around the world today,
26:55 we're seeing millions of Spanish,
27:00 Hispanics we call, Hispanics coming to Christ,
27:05 and accepting the Bible, and accepting Christ.
27:10 In the United States of America,
27:12 hundreds of thousands, millions of Hispanics
27:16 are coming to Christ
27:17 and turning from the Roman Catholic Church
27:20 and tens of millions in Latin America.
27:23 I bless your heart, when we went to El Salvador,
27:27 we had 52,000 people in an outdoor stadium,
27:31 the biggest crowd that football stadium
27:34 had ever seen,
27:36 even for their great football matches.
27:38 We had more because we're seeing today
27:42 the second Protestant Reformation,
27:44 Time Magazine spoke about it.
27:47 Time had it on the front, we're seeing it.
27:50 And you and I need to be a part of it
27:53 and do evangelism.
