00:13 The topic today is "The Prince of the Egypt
00:18 and the Bearded Queen." 00:20 Have you ever heard about the Bearded Queen? 00:23 You have? 00:24 Oh, that's a disappointment, I thought nobody here 00:25 would have heard about the Bearded Queen. 00:28 But I'm going to tell you today the story of the Bearded Queen. 00:33 You've all heard of the great Russian writer Dostoevsky. 00:40 He said this, "If there is no God, 00:47 then everything is permitted." 00:50 I want you to think about this. 00:51 If there is no God, then everything is permitted. 00:57 He said that in the 19th century 00:59 and his fellow Russians 01:02 put into practice in the 20th century 01:04 and killed between 50 and 70 million people. 01:09 That's a lot of people you know, 01:10 that's double the size of California tortured 01:13 and put to death. 01:14 So if there is no God, then everything is permitted. 01:20 Now today, I want to give you some evidence 01:22 why you can believe there is a god 01:25 and there is the god, 01:27 and why the Bible is actually reliable. 01:33 We're gonna tell you today 01:34 about the beautiful young princes 01:36 who went down to the River Nile and found a little boy 01:41 floating on the Nile in a basket. 01:45 We're gonna tell you the story 01:46 of this magnificent wonderful woman 01:50 who is destined to become the Pharaoh. 01:53 We gonna talk today also 01:55 about the greatest Pharaoh of them all. 01:59 That was not Ramesses the Great. 02:02 Of course Egypt is the gift to the Nile, Herodotus said. 02:07 And he said then, 02:10 "Egypt is the gift to the Nile 02:12 and the Nile is the gift of the gods." 02:16 And so this is the land of supernatural forces. 02:20 This is the greatest Pharaoh when we went up there. 02:26 The greatest Pharaoh in the history 02:28 of thousands and thousands of years. 02:32 That is Thutmose III. 02:35 Today for little while, we're going to see 02:37 some of the riches and the might of Egypt. 02:41 When a person goes to Egypt 02:42 and I have been there on so many different occasions. 02:49 You can't go to places like this, 02:51 the great pyramid built 4,600 years ago. 02:56 The 2650 BC 02:59 and that's not the oldest pyramid, 03:01 but you can't go to these places 03:03 and see the massiveness and the splendor 03:08 without realizing that this was perhaps 03:12 the greatest civilization of them all. 03:15 And then in the second part of our presentation today, 03:18 we're going to talk about something 03:20 that was very dear to the hearts of the Egyptians 03:23 and that is the quest 03:26 and the search for everlasting life. 03:30 I want you to notice scripture 03:32 that comes from the land of Egypt, 03:33 or comes from a person who is the Prince of Egypt, 03:37 it's found in the Bible 03:39 and it's found in Exodus 3:1-10. 03:44 Exodus 3:1-10. 03:51 And I want you to notice it in the Bible. 03:54 It says, "Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro 03:57 his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. 04:01 And he led the flock to the back of the desert 04:03 and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 04:07 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him 04:09 in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. 04:14 So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, 04:17 but the bush was not consumed. 04:20 Then Moses said, "I will now turn aside 04:24 and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn." 04:29 So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, 04:32 God called to him from the midst of the bush 04:35 and said, "Moses, Moses." 04:40 And he said, "Here I am." 04:43 Then he said, "Do not draw near this place. 04:46 Take your sandals off your feet, 04:48 for the place where you stand is holy ground." 04:53 Moreover he said, "I am the God of your father, 04:56 the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, 04:58 and the God of Jacob." 05:00 And Moses hid his face, 05:02 for he was afraid to look upon God. 05:04 And the Lord said, "I have surely seen 05:07 the oppression of my people who are in Egypt, 05:11 and have heard their cry because of their task-masters, 05:16 and I know their sorrows. 05:18 So I have come down to deliver them 05:20 out of the hand of the Egyptians, 05:23 to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, 05:26 to a land flowing with milk and honey, 05:30 to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites 05:32 and the Amorites and the Perizzites 05:35 and the Hivites and the Jebusites. 05:38 Now therefore, behold, 05:41 the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, 05:46 and I have also seen the oppression 05:48 with which the Egyptians oppress them. 05:51 Come now, therefore, I will send you to Pharaoh 05:55 that you may bring My people, 05:57 the children of Israel, out of Egypt." 06:02 Now the Bible teaches 06:03 and it is not a may be teaching, 06:06 it is a categorical teaching of the Bible 06:10 that the children of Israel were in the land of Egypt. 06:17 Now there is another text in the Bible, 06:19 I want you to notice today. 06:22 It is a text that is found in 1 Kings 6:1. 06:27 And it gives us the historical setting 06:31 for the presentation today. 06:32 It says, "And it came to pass 06:34 in the four hundred and eightieth year 06:37 after the children of Israel had come up 06:40 out of the land of Egypt, 06:42 in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, 06:46 in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, 06:49 that he began to build the house of the Lord." 06:54 We know this is not speculation. 06:57 We know exactly 07:00 when Solomon started to built the temple of the Lord. 07:05 And the Bible says 07:06 if you go back 480 years from this time, 07:11 when he started to built the temple of the Lord, 07:14 you come to the time when the people came up 07:18 out of the land of Egypt which would put us 07:21 very much on 1450 BC. 07:28 And this give us the time of the Pharaoh of the Exodus, 07:33 and it also tells us most likely who the girl was. 07:40 The powerful princess who rescued Moses as a baby. 07:46 I believe her name was Hatshepsut, 07:51 and she came from a long line of kings, 07:55 who had overthrown some foreign kings 07:57 by the name of the Hyksos. 08:00 Her father's name was Thutmosis. 08:04 This is Hatshepsut. 08:06 Her father's name was Thutmosis 08:10 or Thutmose I, 08:14 and she married this man who was really 08:18 the illegitimate son of his father, 08:21 and his name was Thutmosis II but after few years he died. 08:28 And then, she had a coregency with a young man 08:33 by the name of Thutmosis III 08:36 This is Deir El-Bahari, 08:40 the great mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut. 08:45 Now if we have got our chronologies straight, 08:49 which I think we have, 08:51 then it was Queen Hatshepsut who build this gorgeous place 08:57 on the west bank of the Nile at Luxor, 09:00 at the entrance to the Valley of the Kings. 09:03 It was this girl who discovered Moses. 09:08 And the amazing thing is, she became the Pharaoh. 09:14 And if you see her in inscriptions 09:17 but before we do so. 09:18 This is the father Thutmose, notice the name, 09:23 took these pictures in the Cairo Museum, 09:26 Thutmose I, 09:28 and this actually is the mummy of Queen Hatshepsut, 09:33 lost to the world for 3,500 years. 09:40 A little while ago, I was the great famous, 09:44 supreme director of antiquities 09:47 for the land of Egypt Dr. Hawass, 09:50 and he said, here she is, here she is. 09:55 Here she is, the woman, the daughter of Thutmose I 10:00 and if 1 Kings 6:1 is right, 10:04 then this is the woman most likely 10:07 who discovered Moses as a baby. 10:10 And Moses is not only a Hebrew name that means drawn out of, 10:16 it is a pure Egyptian name, did you know this? 10:20 And it means born of 10:23 and as one of the greatest archeologist 10:25 in the history of the world, 10:27 the great professor Dr. Siegfried Horn 10:30 said to me most likely he called her... 10:34 She called him Hapimoses, 10:38 not Thutmosis or Armosis but Hapimoses, 10:43 born of the god Hapi, the god of the River Nile. 10:52 She became the Pharaoh. 10:54 When she became the Pharaoh, every thing she did was great. 10:59 It was terrific. 11:00 I'm going to show you some pictures of her. 11:03 Here she is in the form of the goddess Osiris, 11:10 who is the god of death and resurrection, 11:13 and she, as you saw had a beard 11:17 which is the symbol of the Pharaoh's power. 11:21 In all inscriptions, she is shown as a man. 11:26 This is the great obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut, 11:31 the greatest in the world, 11:33 97 feet high, 323 tons of granite, 11:39 one sheet in a mixture of silver and gold. 11:46 I spend an evening with her. 11:50 We hired the Cairo Museum for an evening. 11:55 We saw treasures 11:57 and the wealth of the land of Moses. 12:01 My friend Dr. Randy Younker, 12:04 one of the greatest archeologists 12:05 in the world today, Dr. Hawass 12:08 and we're talking about the queen. 12:14 The little princess was destined for greatness, 12:18 and who found a little boy 12:21 and she called him Moses. 12:26 It is indeed an amazing story. 12:30 It's also interesting 12:33 that after she died Thutmosis III 12:37 who apparently hated her defaced her in inscriptions 12:41 with the help of his son Amenhotep II. 12:47 And you can actually see how the inscriptions 12:51 have been defaced by the Pharaoh 12:54 who came after her. 12:57 You see... 13:00 Thutmosis III was the illegitimate son 13:04 of her husband, 13:09 and he was the rightful ruler of Egypt, 13:14 and he was an Egyptian, 13:18 but the mighty woman who had became 13:20 the Pharaoh Hatshepsut would have none of it, 13:25 because it appears 13:26 she didn't want Thutmosis on the throne, 13:30 she wanted Moses, 13:34 the prince of Egypt. 13:37 You know in the story how Moses was sent to Pharaoh 13:42 and he had a confrontation. 13:45 This is the man, this is the man, 13:50 this is Thutmosis III, 13:55 the stepson of the Great Queen Hatshepsut 14:00 who found the little boy 14:03 and called him Moses. 14:07 The Bible says that 14:09 God send Moses down into Egypt 14:12 and he came and stood before this man, 14:14 he said, let my people go. 14:17 This is the tomb 14:20 of the great Pharaoh Thutmosis III. 14:24 This is an amazing picture. 14:31 You're not allowed to photograph in this tomb. 14:34 We received special permission. 14:38 This tomb... I'm with Dr. Randy Younker. 14:43 It appears as though it was finished in a hurry. 14:49 I've stood there and I have felt 14:51 the actual sarcophagus 14:55 where once slander man who said, 14:57 I do not know the Lord 14:59 and I will not let this people go. 15:05 That is an amazing story. 15:09 And according to one very much accepted method of chronology, 15:14 he died in 1450 BC. 15:19 I want you to notice some of the kings Moses 15:22 just may have known. 15:24 If he didn't know them personally, 15:26 he would have known them at least from history. 15:29 He would not have known this man over here 15:32 because this man here is Ramesses the Great. 15:36 But I put him on the screen because once again 15:38 you've got Moses in his name. 15:41 Ramesses actually is Ramoses, born of the god Ra. 15:46 Amenhotep II which is the son of Thutmose III. 15:52 There is Thutmose II was the husband of Hatshepsut. 15:58 Seqenenre one of the first great liberators 16:01 in the history of Egypt, and here also is another one 16:05 of this famous Moses kings Kamose. 16:10 The Bible seems to indicate, it seems to indicate 16:16 that this boy could have became 16:21 the Pharaoh, the little boy. 16:23 Would you come over here please with me, 16:25 come over here to Hebrews 11:24, my friends. 16:31 Hebrews 11:24. It is an amazing text. 16:37 The Bible says, "By faith Moses, 16:42 when he became of age, refused to be called 16:47 the son of Pharaoh's daughter." 16:53 So he was up there 16:55 with the greatest of all people. 16:58 And this boy, he wrote the first five books 17:01 of the Bible was in line to became the Pharaoh. 17:07 Egypt was wealthy and powerful. 17:10 Whenever I've gone to Egypt, I've been there so many times. 17:15 I'm dazed and amazed by the glory of ancient Egypt. 17:21 When I see... 17:23 The pyramids, when I see the gold, 17:28 when I see all of these amazing things. 17:31 Here you have some of the inscriptions 17:34 that were defaced by Pharaoh. 17:38 Peter, the old Coptic Christian who showed me around 17:41 who is Howard Carter's timekeeper 17:43 when I meet him firstly 45 years ago. 17:46 He said to me, he must have hated her 17:50 with an intense hatred. 17:52 Here you have the Great Pyramids of Giza, 17:56 they takes us back 4,600 years ago, 18:00 The Great Pyramid, my friend, 18:02 originally stood 480 feet high, 775 on each side. 18:09 Laid out exactly north-south, east-west on a dead flat base. 18:13 It was considered to be the cosmic mountain, 18:16 the dwelling place of the God's, 18:18 composed of two million three hundred thousand 18:22 giant blocks of limestone. 18:25 If these big pyramids were houses of death, 18:30 not as one politician said recently, 18:33 they were used to store grain, because they're solid. 18:38 But in the very center, if you go inside 18:42 and we gonna take you for a little journey now. 18:46 This is the Great Pyramid Cheops 18:49 and then you have lesser pyramids 18:53 but these are tombs. 18:57 And they built the tombs 18:59 because of their theology which was thanatology. 19:04 They believed that the soul could only be preserved 19:09 if the body were preserved. 19:11 And this is why they practiced the arts of mummification. 19:17 It is an amazing story. 19:20 I'm going to take you now as we think of the glory, 19:22 the glory of ancient Egypt, 19:24 and Moses could have had all the glory. 19:26 Of course, Moses came about a thousand years 19:29 after the Great Pyramid. 19:30 But I want to take you to the Karnak Temple. 19:34 It is the biggest worship site 19:38 in the history of the world, 19:41 It is more than one square mile. 19:45 Moses would have walked here at least in some of the areas. 19:51 Did you know that the book that you hold in your hands today 19:55 was born in the land of Egypt? 19:58 The first five books of the Bible, 20:00 Penetude, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy 20:04 written by a mighty Egyptian prince. 20:07 What a culture gave birth to the Bible. 20:10 The Hypostyle Hall, I want you to see this. 20:13 Look at this, 58,000 square feet. 20:16 This is one little tiny section of Karnak. 20:20 Built after Moses by Seti I and Ramesses the Great. 20:24 Some of the columns are 75 feet high, 20:28 32 feet in circumference. 20:31 It represents a far east. 20:35 It is built next to the primeval mound 20:39 where they believed creation took place. 20:44 It's the Garden of Eden. 20:46 It represents the Garden of Eden. 20:50 When you go to Egypt, they shouts at you, 20:52 power, might, glory 20:57 and the Bible is true. 20:59 I want you to notice, there's so much 21:00 I can show you, don't have time. 21:02 The amazing riches of King Tut Tutankhamun. 21:07 The golden death mask. 21:11 I spend a full evening there, 21:14 just my team I wanted to see some of the glory. 21:20 This is Dr. Randy Younker and we're standing 21:23 and we're gazing at the gold. 21:27 Gold, gold, gold, heaps of the stuff. 21:32 When people say the Bible was exaggerating, 21:36 when the Bible spoke about the glory of Egypt, 21:41 they have no idea. 21:45 Moses could have had all of this stuff. 21:48 See this, could have had it all. 21:50 He was buried in a sarcophagus 21:54 within three coffins made of gold 21:57 and then inside the shrines. 22:01 Some of the shrines are so big covered in gold, 22:04 you could put a big motor car inside. 22:07 Now the Bible tells us 22:09 it was this woman who went down, 22:11 found this little boy if our dates are correct. 22:15 She brought him out. 22:18 There came a tremendous war and the conflict in the palace 22:22 between Thutmosis and Moses, 22:26 Thutmosis, Egyptian, and Moses the Hebrew. 22:32 Something else, when I went there, 22:35 I saw all the Pharaohs. 22:38 I'm gonna tell you this 22:39 in the second part of this program. 22:41 I saw the greatest man possibly that the world has ever seen. 22:46 But there was one person I didn't see. 22:50 I didn't see Moses. 22:53 The Bible talks about 22:54 slaves being kept by the Egyptians. 22:58 For long time skeptic said no, no, no, 23:00 the Egyptians didn't keep slaves. 23:03 Went recently in the Tomb of Rekhmire. 23:08 We had special permission to go in there, 23:10 take television cameras. 23:13 Rekhmire was the vizier 23:18 of Thutmosis III, 23:23 who was the Pharaoh who said, 23:24 I will not let the children of Israel go. 23:29 You see the slaves. These were the slaves. 23:33 Some of these people on the screen 23:35 could even be Hebrew slaves. 23:40 Because these people over here who are doing the work 23:45 are not Egyptians but they are the Semites. 23:51 Gonna try to do something very fast now. 23:53 I'm gonna take you up to Hazor. 23:56 It's in the North of Israel 23:59 because when the children of Israel 24:01 came out of the land of Egypt, they overthrew Jericho. 24:06 And I'll show you pictures about that, 24:08 but the biggest archaeological site 24:11 in that part of the world is Hazor. 24:15 And the Bible actually says that Hazor, 24:18 you can read it in the Book of Joshua, 24:20 it says that Hazor was destroyed 24:24 and burned with fire. 24:27 This is the ash from the fire. 24:30 From the people who came up out of the land of Egypt 24:33 led by Moses, then led by Joshua. 24:39 This is what is left. 24:45 Listen to me. 24:49 As I have gone to these places, 24:51 been out there sometimes in the desert by myself alone. 24:57 Hurried back to camp at night 24:58 when the air was getting chilled. 25:02 I kept saying to myself, the Bible was right. 25:09 It was right about Egypt, 25:11 it's right about the glory. 25:14 It is right about Babylon, 25:17 right about Rome. 25:19 See, it was right about the little princess. 25:25 Therefore... 25:29 Listen if this book is true, if it is true, 25:36 if it is true 25:37 then it's the best news you've ever heard. 25:40 You know why, you know why 25:42 because, because it tells you there's a God and He loves you. 25:47 Amen. 25:48 And He's got a plan and a purpose for your life. 25:51 You see. 25:52 As the Great Russian said there is no God, 25:55 everything is permitted. 25:57 This hopelessness and despair, 26:00 you can see it in today's society. 26:02 But if there's a God who loves us, 26:06 then the future is bright with promise and hope. 26:20 Hello, friend, 26:21 I'm John Carter in Havana, Cuba. 26:25 I'm standing here in Revolutionary Square. 26:29 This great Square is dedicated 26:31 to the great communist revolution 26:33 under Fidel that came to this country 26:36 back 50, 60 years ago. 26:39 This place is still undergoing a revolution. 26:43 We've come to check out the reality of this situation. 26:48 Freedom of speech is not allowed here still. 26:51 Preaching the gospel out of doors 26:53 is not allowed here still. 26:55 Whatever you hear about reconciliation, 26:58 nothing has really changed. 27:01 We've been told, we cannot run public campaigns in Cuba, 27:07 in any part of this world. 27:10 We can run meetings in churches, that's allowed. 27:13 So what are we gonna do? 27:15 We're going to support the people of God 27:17 in this part of the world. 27:18 We're going to step through those doors 27:20 as God opens those doors. 27:23 We're not going to come and cause a commotion 27:28 and cause trouble to the people of God. 27:31 We will work diligently and as wise as serpents 27:36 and as harmless as doves. 27:39 Stand with us in the preaching of the gospel, 27:42 wherever it is, stand with us. 27:45 Write to me, P.O. Box 1900, 27:47 Thousand Oaks, California 91358. 27:50 In Australia, write to me at the address 27:52 which is now appearing on the screen, at Terrigal. 27:56 And let us go forward for a mighty spiritual revolution 28:01 as we take the gospel of Christ 28:04 to the lost around the world as God opens the doors. 28:08 This is John Carter 28:10 in Revolutionary Square in Havana, 28:13 Cuba saying to you, 28:15 God bless you and thank you for your support. 28:22 For a copy of today's program, 28:24 please contact us at P.O.
